Baby Reindeer

I don’t see a thread on this. Just watched it last night and I feel as if the actor (and writer) is too old looking to suspend disbelief. He looks the same age as the stalker and the abuser. But I thought it was an interesting perspective on loneliness causing people to be complicit in their own suffering. What thinks the DL? Richard Gadd looks too scrawny and bug eyed haunted for my taste.

Am I The Only One Who Didn’t Go to Prom?

My mother wasted money sending me to Catholic School over an hour away from where I lived. I had to get up at dawn and get into town to take an hour long ride on a public bus. Nobody from my town went to the same school. All our money went to the church. I couldn’t drive, I had no car. I couldn’t even have afforded tickets, let alone clothes.

All my life people would talk about their prom like it was the highlight of their life. Was it that good? My school still held it in the cafeteria. In later years I heard they rented a catering place, which has since been torn down.

Orlando Bloom- “I HATED being in the movie “Troy” and pretend I am not even in it!”

“Oh my god, ‘Troy.’ Wow. I think I just blanked that movie out of my brain by the way,” Bloom said. “So many people love that movie, but for me playing that character was just like [slits throat]. Am I allowed to say all of these things? I didn’t want to do the movie. I didn’t want to play this character.”

“The movie was great. It was Brad [Pitt]. It was Eric [Bana] and Peter O’Toole,” Bloom said. “But how am I going to play this character? It was completely against everything I felt in my being. At one point it says Paris crawls along the floor having been beaten by somebody and holds his brother’s leg. I was like, ‘I’m not going to be able to do this.’ One of my agents at the time said, ‘But that’s the moment that will make it!’ And I completely fell for that line. I think that’s why I blanked that from my mind.”

Favorite Angela Lansbury Performance?

In August of 1943 that filming began on Gaslight began, where the 17 year old stepped onto a movie set for the very first time. On set, both George Cukor and Ingrid Bergman treated her as not a newcomer, but an equal. For the rest of her life, she decided to treat actors, crew, staff, and guests the same way Ingrid Bergman and George Cukor treated her on her first day back in 1943.

She has been adding class, talent, beauty, and intelligence in everything she touches ever since.

What is your favorite role of Angela Lansbury?

Trump won't consider Haley for running mate position

Of course not, he gets elected with her as VP, he gets Warren G. Harding'd. Frankly any competent Republican who will take orders from the Davos and Sun Valley crowd puts Trump at risk for falling down a flight of stairs headfirst. He may as well ask Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

Justin and Hailey Bieber Expecting First Child

The Biebers have a baby on the way.

Justin Bieber, 30, and his model-turned-beauty mogul wife, Hailey Bieber, 27, confirmed that they are expecting their first child together with a video and series of images shared on Instagram today. The first piece of content in a carousel shared to Hailey’s 51.2 million followers showed the couple embracing and kissing during a vow renewal ceremony today in Kilauea, Hawaii, at which they are both wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello and matching Tiffany & Co. Forever bands.

The model and Rhode founder is wearing a white lace dress and head covering in the video clip, which was followed by a series of images showing off her baby bump. In one shot, the pop superstar cradles his wife’s stomach, and in another he is photographing her on a hill as she displays her pregnancy. In lieu of a caption, Hailey just tagged her husband’s IG handle.

Roger Corman is DEAD TO ME! At 98!!!

“ Legendary B-movie king Roger Corman, who directed and produced hundreds of low-budget films and discovered such future industry stars as Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, has died. He was 98.

Corman died May 9 at his home in Santa Monica, Calif., surrounded by family members, the family confirmed to Variety.

“His films were revolutionary and iconoclastic, and captured the spirit of an age. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said, ‘I was a filmmaker, just that,'” the family said in a statement.

Corman’s empire, which existed in several incarnations, including New World Pictures, and Concorde/New Horizons, was as active as any major studio and, he boasted, always profitable. He specialized in fast-paced, low-budget genre movies — horror, action, science fiction, even some family fare — and his company became a work-in-training ground for a wide variety of major talents, from actors like Nicholson (“Little Shop of Horrors”) and De Niro (“Boxcar Bertha”) to directors like Francis Ford Coppola (“Dementia 13”) and Scorsese (“Boxcar Bertha”).”

McDonald’s $25 ‘deal’ goes viral, sparks debate over California’s minimum wage increase: ‘Your new normal’

Poor fatties.

She was in the drive-thru of a Southern California McDonald’s location when she saw a sign for a 40-piece Chicken McNugget meal deal, which also included two large fries.

The price of the meal bundle was $25.39 – including sales tax, it would come to roughly $27.

In the video, the social media user lamented that the meal didn’t even include a drink.

“Okay, so it’s $25.39 for 40-piece nuggets and two large fries,” she said.

“You couldn’t even throw in the Sprite?”

“You couldn’t even throw in, like, a medium Sprite in there? Holy crap.”

While the meal is designed to serve four people, it demonstrates how prices at the fast food chain have risen over the years.

A recent study by FinanceBuzz found that McDonald’s prices have increased by 100% since 2014.

“The Iron Claw”- I watched it tonight. Zac Efron is so wonderful in this movie

Zac Efron gives such a wonderful and endearing performance in this film. This is easily the best performance he has given. I was moved during the final scene. He was terrific.

The film was actually very good! It was dark and tragic and sad but I liked how the film handled the deaths. They didn’t exploit the deaths of the brothers and didn’t try manipulating you to feel a certain way with sad music etc. it was very well done. There is only one scene I didn’t care for but other than that, bravo. It was a very good movie with very good performances all around. However, I will say that I found Jeremy Allen White to be the weak link overall.

21-year-old shoots stepmom as she goes to hug him at graduation

A 21-year-old shot his stepmother as she went in to hug him at his charter school graduation ceremony, New Mexico police say.

Cristian Bencomo was booked into jail on Wednesday, May 8, accused of shooting his stepmother, the Albuquerque Police Department said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The investigation revealed that Bencomo’s stepmother “started to hug him,” and he pulled out a “handgun and shot her in the neck,” police said.

“We made it all the way through graduation – it was really lovely until it wasn’t,” Mary Ward, a witness, told KOB 4 Eyewitness News.

With more than 100 people in attendance at the charter school graduation, Gallegos said “there was a lot of … chaos at the time.”

Nonetheless, police said “bystanders held (Bencomo) until officers arrived.”

The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Gallegos. She underwent “hours of surgery,” according to the organizers of a GoFundMe, who said she will need continued medical treatment and rehab.

Angel Chester, the woman’s sister, was close by when the shooting happened, KRQE News reported. Chester told the station she witnessed Bencomo stomp on her sister’s head following the shooting.

“I keep thinking that it’s a bad dream that I’ll wake up from,” Chester told the outlet.

…and Nicholas Galitzine is straight now

I’m not terribly surprised. He had done that stupid Purple Hearts movie and he started getting tons of followers, and he kept posting updates of how his followers were going up. He thinks very highly of himself. Here’s the thing, and wish someone had told him this before he did this:

(Channeling inner Shirley Maclaine)

He is not special enough to be a straight actor. He is not a Star. He does not have the talent or charisma to make this worthwhile. He shows up to the Met Gala wearing a black tux. He is self serious and interviews poorly. His body veers toward doughiess, his features are pronouncedly feminine.

He is the Diversity Hire. That was his ticket into Hollywood. He could not do this, after doing so many queer roles, which he was only getting because it was more or less assumed he would eventually come out publicly. He is not anybody you would cast in any straight role unless the actor needs to register nonthreatening softness. He could not play Jonathan Bailey’s role in Bridgerton.

Jonathan Bailey is going up and up and up. Not because he is a gay actor. But because he is a Star. Andrew Scott is going up because he is exceptionally talented. Nicholas Galitzine is neither of those. He started rising at a very curious time in Hollywood in which the burden on gay actors of gay actordom is beginning to go away, but at the same time actors are expected to be gay if they take a lot of gay roles. It would have behooved him to cling to this like driftwood, because now, when it comes down to it, if I am in casting and I have to choose between him and a straight actor for a straight role, I am going to choose the one that does not pout his lips like Queen Nefertiti.

After Gus Kenworthy came out, his ex cruelly taunted him (bad breakup) and wrote online:

“…you were not fooling anyone. Any man who knows the entire soundtrack to the Broadway musical “wicked” is not bringing in the ladies, unless it’s for a themed dinner party.”

Nicholas Galitzine was already typecast as “man who knows the song score to Wicked.” This was highly self-defeating, unnecessary, makes the people who cast him in queer roles look like idiots, and establishes him as a professional nincompoop. He will never get the straight roles that he really wants, and now the gay roles will be offered to someone else. He should have just said nothing.

God I hate actors.

Bea Arthur and Betty White Sing about Friendship Just Moments after Betty won the Emmy over Bea and Rue

I found this clip from the end of the 1986 Emmy Awards. Betty had won the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy literally just minutes before, which by all accounts, pissed off Bea to no end. There is no evidence of hostility in this clip. Either Bea is acting for the cameras, or she's still in denial and the anger hadn't had time to settle yet.

Also, why does Bea get to sing the whole first part of the song by herself, and the other three just get a line or two? Poor Rue just gets a few words.

So Putin thought Condi Rice was a very attractive lady?

Then, in an odd exchange, Putin mentioned Sergei Lavrov, his chain-smoking, hard-line foreign minister. “Lavrov just returned from London and had problems with his cheeks and lips being swollen,” Putin told Bush. “We might need to take a closer look at what Condi did to him.”

Bush, awkwardly, played along with what seemed to be a bizarre form of xesual innuendo. “Condi is not blind,” he joked.

“And she is a very attractive lady,” Putin replied.

“She is a wonderful lady,” Bush said, then tried to move the conversation along. “Listen, I’d like to get this WTO stuff done in the next couple weeks before we get to St. Petersburg.”

POLL: Is Jennifer Coolidge the Cilantro of Acting?

I saw someone on Reddit compare Jennifer Coolidge to cilantro, saying she’s a strong spice that works well in some places but has started to crop up where she doesn’t reasonably belong simply because her popularity is beginning to overshadow her substance, not unlike cilantro a few decades ago.

She did White Lotus, then The Watcher, and now she’s set to join Only Murders in the Building - no doubt playing another dingbat millionaire with a lovable edge.

I must admit, "Fantasia" is my all time favorite. I saw it as a kid and loved the cartoony experience with the dancing hoppos, elephants, ostriches and gators. Do you compartmentalize your friends?

I’ve been accused of compartmentalizing my friends by keeping them separate from each other. It’s not that I go out of my way to do that, but one best friend is 1300 miles away and the other one is 120 miles away. I have more friends and acquaintances who are actually local, but we are all so busy, I don’t think we could all hang out at the same time even if I wanted to.

When I was a teenager, I tried bringing my friends together for a birthday party and it all went to hell and a hand basket as people just didn’t show. It was very embarrassing.

However, as I’ve gotten older I don’t really care for large social gatherings. I rather have one-one-one meetings or small groups of about 2-4 people where I can really devote my time to them.

I feel like the people who care about hosting large groups of people care more about how they’re perceived in society versus having a meaningful connection to their friends. They just want to host a party exclusive enough they hope to end up in one of the local society magazines.

"Jeffrey Dahmer with veneers" Kristi Noem brags about killing her 14 month old puppy in upcoming book

Apologies if this has been posted. I searched for both Dahmer and Noem.

“Cricket was a wirehair pointer, about 14 months old,” the South Dakota governor writes in a new book, adding that the dog, a female, had an “aggressive personality” and needed to be trained to be used for hunting pheasant.

She includes her story about the ill-fated Cricket, she says, to illustrate her willingness, in politics as well as in South Dakota life, to do anything “difficult, messy and ugly” if it simply needs to be done.

By taking Cricket on a pheasant hunt with older dogs, Noem says, she hoped to calm the young dog down and begin to teach her how to behave. Unfortunately, Cricket ruined the hunt, going “out of her mind with excitement, chasing all those birds and having the time of her life”.

Noem describes calling Cricket, then using an electronic collar to attempt to bring her under control. Nothing worked. Then, on the way home after the hunt, as Noem stopped to talk to a local family, Cricket escaped Noem’s truck and attacked the family’s chickens, “grabb[ing] one chicken at a time, crunching it to death with one bite, then dropping it to attack another”

When Noem finally grabbed Cricket, she says, the dog “whipped around to bite me”. Then, as the chickens’ owner wept, Noem repeatedly apologised, wrote the shocked family a check “for the price they asked, and helped them dispose of the carcasses littering the scene of the crime”.

Through it all, Noem says, Cricket was “the picture of pure joy”.

“I hated that dog,” Noem writes, adding that Cricket had proved herself “untrainable”, “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with” and “less than worthless … as a hunting dog”.

“At that moment,” Noem says, “I realised I had to put her down.”

Noem, who also represented her state in Congress for eight years, got her gun, then led Cricket to a gravel pit.

“It was not a pleasant job,” she writes, “but it had to be done. And after it was over, I realised another unpleasant job needed to be done.”

Incredibly, Noem’s tale of slaughter is not finished.

Her family, she writes, also owned a male goat that was “nasty and mean”, because it had not been castrated. Furthermore, the goat smelled “disgusting, musky, rancid” and “loved to chase” Noem’s children, knocking them down and ruining their clothes

Noem decided to kill the unnamed goat the same way she had just killed Cricket the dog. But though she “dragged him to a gravel pit”, the goat jumped as she shot and therefore survived the wound. Noem says she went back to her truck, retrieved another shell, then “hurried back to the gravel pit and put him down”.

At that point, Noem writes, she realised a construction crew had watched her kill both animals. The startled workers swiftly got back to work, she writes, only for a school bus to arrive and drop off Noem’s children.

“Kennedy looked around confused,” Noem writes of her daughter, who asked: “Hey, where’s Cricket?”

Jeff Aquilon- top male model of the 80s & Vintage Beefcake

California native Jeff Aquilon was a student at Pepperdine University in 1978 when he was discovered. Aquilon was captain of the water polo team and Bruce Weber was holding a casting near the college when he spotted Aquilon and told him he should come audition to be his new model for a big photoshoot. Many young men showed up, but it was Aquilon who impressed Weber and his crew the most. They took an instant liking to him and he won! Aquilon would be featured in GQ magazine

In May of 1979 Aquilon would make the cover of GQ magazine (pictured below), and the rest would be history. Throughout the 80s he was the top working male model for numerous years, booking campaigns, booking runways with every big designer and being featured in every magazine you could think of. He worked with every top photographer and was a favorite in the industry.

He married model Nancy Donahue in the early 80s but they would get divorced. He later married again and had 4 children. Him and his family live in Santa Barbara. He is now the Director of Academic & Institutional Technology at Westmont College in Santa Barbara.

Admittedly, I’m not sure where it would have been, but given that Israel isn’t that big, I’m sure something could have been worked out. "Relatively Speaking," vintage game show resurfaced on Tubi

Apparently this hasn't been seen since it first aired. It's a simple concept: a guest comes on and a celebrity panel has to ask yes-or-no questions to discover who the guest's famous relative is.

It's enjoyable because the panel is filled with comedians but they actually play the game rather than waste time with jokes. On one of the episodes I watched Marsha Warfield asked a woman if her son "liked soul food," which got a laugh (Mom said yes) but sent the panel in the wrong direction — it was Patrick Swayze's mom.

Plus the set is peak '80s cheesy pastel and teal, and the women's clothes are camp today.

I swear Tubi has the most random, fun stuff.

Were you close with your cousins growing up? Are you close with them now?

Maternal:

Yes, with the son and daughter of my non-mafioso uncle. The three of us were the same age within a year and inseparable. Unfortunately, the male cousin grew up and married a viper who destroyed all his relationships including with me. I'll never forgive him for just standing there quietly while she hurled slurs as me. I'm still very close to his sister and in constant contact. No, to the mafia princess daughters of my mafioso uncle, not as kids and not now.

Paternal:

Never met any of them as a kid as they all lived in Italy. Met them all when I went to Italy for the first time the summer after high school graduation. Hit it off with all of them, both male and female. Have kept in contact over the past 40 years and become close. I visit Italy every 2-3 years, they've been here a couple of times.

Why Are Women Getting Punched In The Face On The Streets Of NYC?

Many are wondering what's going on in New York City and why so many women are getting randomly punched in the face while just walking down the street?

If you happened to be scrolling on TikTok on Monday, you may have come across a video of a woman telling her story about being punched in the face as she walked down the street. And then scrolling further, you may have come across another. And then another. So just what's going on in the city all of a sudden that women are being punched in the face for no reason?

Content creator and influencer, Halley shared a video on Monday morning telling her disturbing story of how she was just punched in the face while walking down the street. The evidence, a large egg on the right side of her forehead, told just as much of the story as she did.

"You guys. I was literally just walking and a man came up and punched me in the face," she began the video that quickly went viral with more than 21.3 million views. "It hurts so bad. I can't even talk. Literally, I fell to the ground, and now this giant goose egg is forming, and I'm like, oh my God. So crazy."

More than 10,000 comments quickly flooded the comment section of the video. While many wanted to know if the police were called and if she's okay, others shared that they also had a similar issue happen recently.

"It happened to me as well, a whole slap because he didn't like my hat," one person shared. Another added, "OMG I saw someone else post the same thing happened to them last week."

A follow up video shared more of Halley's story, as well as an update.

"I was just walking on the sidewalk, and my head was down, and I was like looking at my phone, just sending an email. But there was so much room on the sidewalk and literally nobody was around, and I guess this man, I don't know if he punched me or if he elbowed me. I literally passed out," she said.

"I think he just was really mad that my head was down. He was walking his dog, so he took it upon himself to body check me and let me know to be conscious of my surroundings."

Halley said after being punched, she fell to the ground and "blacked out for a second." When she got up, the man was screaming at her. That's when she got up and ran away out of fear.

One follower suggested, "Do you remember what area you were at? Nearby businesses may have security cameras facing the sidewalk." Another viewer wrote, "Wait, this is the 2nd video I saw like this today!"

In another follow up video, Halley explained that she did go to urgent care to get checked out. She also revealed that she did call the police and was told that her story matches another one they recently got.

University speaker Chris Pan admits his bizarre commencement speech was written on psychoactive drugs
On Sunday, the Ohio State University class of 2024 was treated to an unorthodox commencement address by inspirational speaker Chris Pan. “I’d like to get started by moving our energy,” Pan said near the beginning of his speech, before jumping into a sing-along of the classic 4 Non Blondes song “What’s Up?” Soon after, he was encouraging the new graduates to consider investing in bitcoin, leading to groans from many students. To get them back on his side, he performed a magic trick with crowd volunteer and OSU president Ted Carter, then brought it home with a second sing-along of “This Little Light of Mine.” Intrigued viewers from home soon found that Pan — a former McKinsey adviser and early Facebook employee — had written about taking ayahuasca as part of his creative process to prepare for the speech.

I miss my mom

I'm not going to post a MARY!!!!, but I really miss my mom. Every day, something happens that I wish I could tell her, talk to her about, commiserate over, etc. Or I'll hear a song she liked and think of her.

Does one ever really get over losing a mother?

(And my mom is, technically, still alive, but in late-stage Alzheimer's. The person who was my mother is long gone.)

Does anyone here not miss their deceased parents or long for more time with them?

I’m not the kind of person who feels, “I wish I would have spent more time with my dad,” or “I wish I could see my dad again.”

I think I would phrase it differently, like, “I wish I had become successful during my dad’s life.” I also wish that my dad could have had a happier old age.

Other than that, I’m fine that my dad is no longer here. I’m fine with the fact that his life had a beginning, middle, and end just like everyone else. He was 81 years old when he died and he had Alzheimer’s disease.

Catholic priest reprimanded for novel TMI Easter sermon declaring Jesus died with a stiffy

Did you say resurrection? The Catholic priest and the shock sermon

A Catholic priest in Co Durham has kept his job despite complaints from parishioners about the “vulgar” sermon he delivered over the Easter weekend.

Father Thomas McHale, the priest at Our Blessed Lady Immaculate in Blackhill, Consett, shocked parishioners when he took to the pulpit on Good Friday and told the congregation that Jesus had died with an erection. The local diocese investigated, and upheld a complaint into his conduct.

McHale, 53, who is from America, is understood to have told the congregation, estimated at between 75 and 100 Catholic residents of the former industrial village, that a result of the violent execution method of crucifixion was that blood would have rushed to his lower body.

A parishioner said that the comments were shocking. “He told people Jesus died with an erection,” they said. “The church was shocked. There were young families there.”

‘X-Ray’ (1981) originally titled ‘Hospital Massacre’

These low budget 80s slashers can be entertaining but also infuriating. As I keep getting older I find myself getting more annoyed with the stupid choices of the characters than entertained. There are so many stupid choices made in this one that piss me off, however, I will say this one does create a genuinely creepy atmosphere and setting. There were moments I did find myself nervous for the main character, and the hospital setting was creepy (this one was filmed in an actual old abandoned hospital). I didn’t find the hospital setting scary in H2 or Visiting Hours but here it worked.

The movie is on YouTube but in low quality. The full movie is on Tubi though, as X-Ray (what it was retitled later on).

MSNBC's "The Weekend" Premiers! Your thoughts?

My first reaction was how much money was spent on focus groups determining the seating arrangement. Alicia Menedez gets the center seat and center shot? I mean Michael Steele was a Governor and he is the former Chair of the RNC. Shouldn't he have gotten that seat? Or would that look too much like pimp-daddy Michael Steel and his girls?

-IMHO, it will be money well-spent should MSNBC hire a stylist for Symone Sanders-(whatever). Those body hugging knit dresses that hug her every curve (fat) are not flattering. Those fake eyelashes... All of this just shows what a cow/heifer she is. Also, someone needs to dress her appropriately and control her Ta-Ta's.

Prince Harry showered with endless love from the British Public while visiting by himself

Prince Harry was without his Royal family during his Invictus Games event in London this week -- but he wasn't a man without a country ... 'cause the British public showed up.

The Duke of Sussex attended his big shindig at St. Paul's Cathedral Thursday to help ring in the 10-year anniversary of his famous charity -- and while he didn't have his dad, brother, or any other working Royal in attendance to help him celebrate ... he still powered through.

Harry showed up with a smile on before and after the commemoration ... and he even did a public walkabout to shake hands and exchange pleasantries with Britons on the ground.

Indeed ... there were quite a few people who arrived to give Harry his flowers -- and he even received lots of happy cheers from the crowd, as well as messages of congratulations. When he went around to wave hello and talk to folks, he looked pretty damn happy himself.

While it might not seem like much on its face ... it's actually telling, especially since King Charles -- who said he wouldn't be able to meet with Harry during his time in London -- was hosting his own bash around the same time Thursday ... where he was shaking hands too.

Worth noting ... there weren't any senior Royals in attendance for Harry's thing, but they definitely showed up for Charles. People of note who did go to Harry's event, however ... his extended family on his mother's side -- who put on a united front as they hit the church.

Again ... Harry put out a statement saying he understood his father was swamped and unable to get together -- and as polite as he's being publicly ... ya gotta imagine this hurts a bit.

Fallout - Amazon Prime's new big budget video game adaptation, trailer released today. Can it succeed like "The Last Of Us"?

The original Fallout games which came out in the late 90s had excellent storytelling, but the modern entries have left much to be desired. That being said, the setting and world itself has always been compelling in the games. The universe of Fallout is an alternate timeline of Earth's history. It's a retrofuturist world with a 1950s sci-fi aesthetic. i asked chat gpt to summarize the setting to make it easier.

'In the Fallout universe, an alternate history unfolds where the world diverged from ours after World War II, adopting a retrofuturistic aesthetic centered around atomic technology. The United States and China become embroiled in a resource war, escalating into a devastating conflict. The Great War of 2077 culminates in a nuclear apocalypse, transforming the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Vault-Tec, a pre-war corporation, constructs underground vaults to shelter select citizens from the devastation.'

vault-tec is a company that built nuclear survival shelters all across the usa, but most of them are actually designed to be cruel social experiments with human guinea pigs. Most of the games have you leaving a vault to explore and interact with the outside post-apocalyptic world - with humans trying to rebuild society amongst mutants and monsters created by radiation. The games are highly acclaimed and Fallout is considered to be one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. fallout 1, 2, and new vegas are particularly known for good writing.

Gen Z worker fired after less than 3 days on the job

I was fired from a new job in less than a week after I started. It taught me not every opportunity is a good opportunity.

Calli Nguyen, 24, was fired from her job as a director of digital marketing after less than a week.

Nguyen highlights the importance of mental health and employee respect in the workplace.

She emphasizes Gen Z's unwillingness to settle for toxic work environments.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Calli Nguyen, a 24-year-old social media marketer from Baton Rouge, LA, about getting fired after less than one week of work. It's been edited for length and clarity.

Before I started as the director of digital marketing for a medical spa, I gave my boss the benefit of the doubt because I just wanted a job. What could go wrong?

Turns out, everything.

While I've worked many jobs, this director role was my first paid full-time position in digital marketing. I rationalized that maybe I was going through a learning curve; or that I just had the jitters. But on the third day of work, when I left my desk for a quick mental health break, I was fired on the spot. To be fair, I saw the red flags but ignored them.

I read the negative Glassdoor and Google reviews left by former clients and employees. One review said that five employees quit within two weeks. The review underscored that employers should not mistreat their employees regardless of their age. Also, before I even started the job, I agreed to change my role from client care coordinator to director of digital marketing without changing my hourly pay of $16. Yet, immediately after I was fired, I felt like a failure.

I now feel that getting fired after less than a week of employment was a blessing in disguise. The experience taught me that not every opportunity is a good opportunity. But more importantly, protecting my mental health and having employers see the value in me is more important than earning money.

My boss refused to take my advice

I didn't think it was a big deal that my former boss wanted me to switch gears to social media marketing after I applied on Indeed for an office coordinator role. Afterall, I did list my social media marketing skills on my résumé.

After I accepted the new role over the phone with her general manager, I looked forward to honing in on my creative skills while helping a small, independent business grow and gain more customers. But how can I help someone who refuses to listen to my advice?

My boss wanted her social media marketing to look a certain way: showcasing stock photos of attractive women with outdated fonts.

I showed her the analytics on the low-performing social media posts and that I knew how to update her online presence to gain more customers, but she refused to absorb anything I had to say. So I followed her creative lead — until I became overwhelmed by her demands.

I was shocked to find out that my boss wanted more from me than what I produced

On my third day, I started a project to build posts for the company's social media accounts and research her competitors' special offers. I presented everything she asked for. While she seemed happy with my social posts and the offers that I found, she needed more from me.

Without warning, she asked which products the other medical spas used. I spiraled into a tailspin.

Are Gen Xers the new Baby Boomers?

Gen X has always been ignored, insulted, demeaned, and blamed for everything that's wrong with the world. But is the so-called "Karen Generation" really as bad as the media would have us believe?

Back in 2019, Generation X’s legacy as the forgotten generation was cemented by a CBS News graphic. Titled “Generation Guidelines Defined By Birth Year,” it listed “Baby Boomers (54–72 years old)” followed by “Millennials (22–37 years old)” with no acknowledgment of the yawning void where the 38-to-53–year-olds should have been. It was perhaps the most Generation X thing to ever happen.

As a small generation (65 million) sandwiched between two spotlight-hogging demographic powerhouses—Baby Boomers (76 million) and Millennials (83 million)—Gen X has had decades of experience being overlooked. Hell, our own parents had to be reminded of our existence by a televised public-service announcement that intoned “It’s 10 o’clock. Do you know where your children are?” In the ginned-up media battles between Baby Boomers and Millennials, Gen X’s willingness to kick back and let them fight is the stuff of countless memes.

But something has changed in the past year or so. Despite decades of erasure, it seems that my generation has been remembered just in time to serve as the latest scapegoat for all the social, political, and cultural ills that younger generations feel righteously duty-bound to pin on previous ones. Online, Gen X has been dismissed as “Boomer 2.0,” “Boomer Lite,” and “The Karen Generation.” We’ve been accused of being excessively Trumpy, of having “ZERO empathy,” and of just generally sucking.

We are also, as it happens, officially old. Hip-hop turned 50 this year. Adam Sandler is on the cover of AARP magazine. Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter just married Tony Hawk’s son. We’re parenting our children (and sometimes our grandchildren), caring for our elderly parents, and facing the stark reality that retirement won’t be an option for many of us. We’re monitoring our cholesterol, white-knuckling through hot flashes, and fitting orthotics into our Chuck Taylors. At a recent Breeders reunion show in San Francisco, my friend Rita watched the man in front of her do some exploratory pogos as the band launched into “Cannonball” before realizing that, sadly, his knees were no longer about that life.

The aging and the scapegoating are not coincidental. In general, I tend to agree with the theory that young people can’t be bothered to differentiate among old people and therefore call anyone north of 40 a Boomer. Still, it seems fair to explore whether these charges have merit. Does Gen X suck? Are we the new Boomers? Let’s take a look at three of the boldest accusations.

Gen X is not only conservative, but wingnut conservative.

Back in October 2022, Kurt Anderson—founder of Spy, the 1980s magazine that set the template for internet snark—tweeted a snippet of a New York Times/Siena poll that showed a 45–64 age group answering the question “Which party’s candidate are you more likely to vote for in this year’s election for Congress” with a 59 percent vote for the GOP. “Why are Gen X, uniquely among age groups, so strongly Republican and weakly Democrat?” asked Anderson.

His query was preceded a few months earlier by a Politico piece that profiled Iowa State Congress member Cherielynn Westrich, onetime keyboardist for late-’90s Weezer side project The Rentals, by way of explaining “How Gen X Became the Trumpiest Generation.” Author Ben Jacobs asserted that “there were always hints of a more right-wing inclination culturally even if they may have been camouflaged by the less politically charged atmosphere at the time.” His sole illustrative example? Michael J. Fox’s Family Ties character, Alex P. Keaton.

What Books Are You Reading In 2024? Part 1

As midnight ticks around and the fireworks burst in the skies of my hometown, it’s time for the first reading thread of the New Year, where DataLounge friends share what they are reading, good or bad. Short stories etc are welcome.

As per the previous thread, I am still listening to Moby Dick, but not during chemotherapy, there are too many interruptions and I am enjoying the story far too much for stopping and starting. So it’s on my commute.

I wanted a big, easy to read saga to read over the holidays so I am rereading Gone With The Wind for the first time since childhood. Scarlett has less of Vivien Leigh’s devious intelligence, and Melanie isn’t a beatific and sickly sweet as per Olivia de Havilland but guileless, plucky and almost immature. Reading now, they are very much sheltered teenagers.

I read the CWA Gold Dagger winner every year so The Kingdoms of Savannah by George Dawes Green is on my list.

Most current polls show Trump and Biden neck and neck.

I don't want to be a Mary and I know there's already a thread about you will do if he does win. But seriously, I think he is going to win and to paraphrase Lionel he'll be once, twice, three times the crazy.

I live in NYC where everyone fucking hates him but I have a cable box that gets me some affiliate channels for ABC and CBS in the Midwestern states and you hear people get vox popped (not the cap wearing, t shirt emblazoned mental cultists, just genuine ordinary folk) saying things like 'Biden is too old and not alert enough and we now have two big wars that started on his watch, I voted for the guy but I don't see much change from when Trump was in office so I'm a bit undecided.' One guy said 'You know at the end of the day Trump is the kind of guy you could have a beer with' the reporter had to tell him that Trump doesn't drink, and the guy said we'll if he can buy me a bourbon I'll get him a ginger ale.

Wisconsin Boy, 13, Who Disappeared 1 Month Ago May Be Attempting to Live ‘Off the Grid’: Police

Police in Wisconsin say a teenage boy may be living in the wilderness as a survivalist after disappearing from his family’s home last month.

James Yoblonski, 13, was reported missing on the morning of June 12, according to Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister.

Family and authorities believe James may be living “off the grid,”said Sauk County Lieutenant Steven Schram, according to The Wisconsin State Journal.

The teen’s father told police that his son “had taken a family vehicle,” which was found by a deputy about an hour after the report was made, the sheriff said. James may also have taken a firearm with him, per the Journal’s report.

"He's a smart kid," James' father Bill Yoblonski told ABC affiliate WKOW. "This is uncalled for, to do something like this and not to talk to anybody about it."

Much of the search has been focused on the area west of Devil's Lake State Park near U.S. Highway 12, according to the Journal.

Crews began searching an area near U.S. Highway 12 and the Sauk Hill after authorities pinged James’ cell phone, Meister said. But the teen still has yet to be found.

During the search, deputies found “property belonging to James” at what the sheriff described as “a makeshift campsite.” Crews have located at least two different campsites that may have been set up by James, according to WKOW.

Authorities believe James “is acting with intention,” Schram said, per the Journal. They also believe James had “two woodland survival manuals” in his possession when he disappeared.

James' father told WKOW that he also bought his son “some off-grid books,” one of which he seemingly took when he disappeared from his Reedsburg home.

"I hope he knows that we love him and we just want him home and safe," he added. "He's not in trouble, I just want him home."

Authorities are exploring “all avenues” as the search continues for James, according to a second statement from Meister, released July 7.

Anyone with information about James’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Sauk County Sheriff's Office at (608) 356-4895.

Thom Fleming- from a Top Model to Vintage Beefcake

Thom Fleming was born on August 18, 1952 in Long Island, NY. His father was a doctor and his mother a housewife. He grew up in a stable upper-middle class suburb on Long Island.

After HS, around 1970 or 1971, he attended New York’s Wagner College but dropped out after sophomore year and started selling insurance full time. In 1974 he quit selling insurance and became a full time carpenter who would moonlight as a bartender when needed. This went on for a few years.

One night in late 1980, while bartending for a party on Long Island, a male model took notice of him and saw potential. He approached Thom and encouraged him to get into modeling, as he had the perfect face for it, but told him he needed to lose about 25 pounds first to lean out his body. Thom obliged and within 2 months lost 25 pounds. After this he went to NYC to meet with agencies and got signed to agency almost immediately. His very first gig booked was the January 1981 COVER of GQ magazine. He quit his career as a carpenter and became a full time model. Thom’s career instantly took off in the modeling world. In 1981 he also began dating model Carol Alt, but they didn’t last long.

During his peak he was earning $1500 a day as a model, a high number for a male model, especially in the 80s. He wanted to try to parlay his modeling career into a successful acting career, but that didn’t work out. By the early 00s (he was now heading toward 50) he continued doing modeling part time when they would book him but decided to get back into carpentry and also became a local firefighter in Montauk.

He married a Canadian woman named Jill and they had two children together. They are divorced now. He still lives in Montauk today.

San Francisco continues to its downward spiral because of incompetent leaders

Haven’t they noticed that enabling addicts just brings more addicts to the city, continues addition and doesn’t help the city prosper one bit.

If you allow and enable people to continue their behavior, then the behavior will continue, if not get worse.

This experiment in San Francisco is an abject failure. Has been for 20 years.

All you have to do is visit San Fran for a day. They’ve ruined a great city.

Gen X and President Biden: Reality bites

President Biden remains unpopular even as his campaign prepares for the first Democratic primary next month. One group in particular driving up his high disapproval is Generation X. NPR political correspondent Susan Davis explores why the slacker generation has become one of the most conservative.

SUSAN DAVIS, BYLINE: Tara Schoettle's disapproval of President Biden could be traced back to her childhood.

TARA SCHOETTLE: I have a distinct memory of when Carter was in office, and we had to wait in line for gas.

DAVIS: At 54, Schoettle is a member of Generation X, those born roughly between 1965 and 1980. And Dr. Jean Twenge says that alone could help explain the conservative tilt.

JEAN TWENGE: Gen X is the most Republican of the generations.

DAVIS: Twenge studies generational differences and is the author of the recent book, "Generations." She says political attitudes start to be shaped really young, and for Gen Xers, their childhood is defined politically by an unpopular Democratic president, Jimmy Carter, and a popular Republican president, Ronald Reagan. Recent NPR/PBS NewsHour Marist polling underscores this point. It shows Biden with the highest disapproval rating among Generation Xers when compared to the baby boomers, millennials and Gen Z. Even for Gen Xers who approve of Biden, like 56-year-old Latino Ken Piccolo, there's a nostalgia for their youth.

"Mommy Meanest" on Lifetime

The Michigan mother assumed a false identity and for almost two years harassed her own daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend.

Then Kendra Gail Licari accompanied her daughter to report the bullying to authorities.

And now Licari’s case is being made into a Lifetime original movie, the network confirms to PEOPLE, saying Mommy Meanest – starring Lisa Rinna and Briana Skye and premiering Saturday, May 11 – is inspired by Licari “and other cases similar to it.” (Rinna’s real-life daughter, Delilah Hamlin, plays Mia’s friend, Summer in the first movie in which the mother/ daughter team appear together.)

Last year, Licari pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking a minor and was sentenced to between 19 months and five years behind bars, per The Morning Sun.

Investigators compiled 349 pages of “demeaning, demoralizing, and just mean texts,” and direct messages on social media, Isabella County Prosecutor David Barberi told Local 12.

Licari used software that helped her hide her location and used multiple numbers with area codes suggesting her daughter’s own friends were to blame for the texts, according to the criminal complaint obtained by the outlet.

Likening it to “cyber Munchausen's syndrome,” Barberi told Local 12 that such bullying “seems to be the type of behavior where you're making somebody feel bad – or need you in their life – because of this behavior.”

Because Licari’s plea deal precluded a criminal trial, the mother’s reasoning behind targeting her own daughter remains a mystery. But Mommy Meanest reimagines those motivations.

How Gen X Became the Trumpiest Generation

It’s a drowsy rainy Thursday at the Iowa State Capitol, and Iowa State Representative Cherielynn Westrich is speaking to a school group about how a bill becomes a law. The state Legislature is out of session, and only a handful of members are lazing about the chamber catching up on correspondence. Westrich, a petite cheery blonde, is just finishing up explaining how a lawmaker can summon a legislative page to their desk if they have a specific request to add to a bill. Her audience is a group of about two dozen middle school-aged kids seated on the floor in the back corner of the room.

Just then, another legislator, Steve Holt, interrupts with a smirk. It’s a school group from his district but he had left Westrich babysitting them for a few minutes. “You all know a fun fact about Rep. Westrich?” he asks. “She was in a famous rock band when she was young; you can find the videos on YouTube.”

Westrich then tries to explain her past to the school group of children too young to remember Kanye West at the VMAs, let alone the mid-90s alternative rock scene. “Well so, you guys know who Madonna is? Madonna signed my band to her record label, and we toured all around the world and got to play all the big coliseums like Madison Square Garden, and then we had videos — you guys know about MTV? — we had two of them, and you can still find them online from a long time ago back in the 1900s.”

The children laugh politely, and then it is time for them to go back to their school bus. Both their tour of the Iowa State Capitol and brief excursion into ‘90s nostalgia were over.

But, for Westrich, neither was. The first term Iowa Republican was a Zelig-like figure in ‘90s pop culture. She worked for Flea, played with Spike Jonze in her first band and turned down the opportunity to appear on “Jackass.” But she’s perhaps best known for playing keyboard with the Rentals, a ‘90s band that scored a single hit with the song “Friends of P.” while touring the world with performers like Blur and Alanis Morissette.

Now, 20 years later, after getting inspired to enter politics by former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, Westrich is a solidly conservative state representative from blue-collar southeast Iowa who is pro-gun and anti-vaccine mandate. It may be an unusual trajectory for someone who played moog synthesizer in a popular alternative rock band, but, given the politics of people in her generation, it actually might not be unusual at all.

Gen X was supposed to be the laid back generation

What happened, here? The vast majority of uppity, tight-assed Karens/Kevins are Gen X. Is it their kids (Gen Z) driving them to this? Y'all were cool in the 90s with ripped jeans, plaid shirts, and MTV. Now, most of your are miserable, entitled, Trump-supporting (yes, the voting data supports this), harpies and your offspring have effectively ruined the internet for everyone. You can presently find them brainlessly destroying university property over a cause they know fuck-all about while donning red, black, white, and red face-paint.

Where did you go wrong with your kids, Gen X? Even you childless Gen X aunts and uncles of DL. Why is your sibling failing in this area?

Rant over.

Blind Man and His Service Dog Kicked Out of Restaurant: ‘You Don’t Look Blind’

A legally blind TikToker has shared that he and his guide dog were kicked out of a Seattle restaurant when a staff member didn’t believe he was blind.

“I walked in with my guide dog, Mr. Maple, and immediately somebody rushed up to me and said, ‘No pets allowed, only service dogs,'” said Paul, who chronicles his adventures with his partner on the popular TikTok account MatthewandPaul, which has more than 2.1 million followers.

In his TikTok, posted yesterday, Paul said he explained, “‘It's OK, he's a service dog.’ He looked at me, he looked at Maple, he said, ‘Emotional support dog?’ ‘No, like a guide dog for the blind.’”

“I literally had this harness attached to him,” Paul continued, referring to the words “Guide Dogs for the Blind” on Mr. Maple’s harness.

“I showed this to him, I said ‘I'm blind.’”

“He said, ‘You don't look blind,’ and I said, ‘A lot of people in the blind community still have some functional vision.’”

As Paul has previously explained in another TikTok, he has Retinitis pigmentosa, which the National Eye Institute says causes the “cells in the retina break down slowly over time, causing vision loss.”

He can see a small tunnel of vision, surrounded by “moving light, popping random colors, almost like fireworks.”

Paul shared that he tried to explain this at the restaurant.

“He said, ‘You're looking right at me.’ I said, ‘Yes, but it's like I have a pinhole of vision — that's all I can see.’

"He said, ‘Listen, this isn't my first rodeo’ — he literally said that — he said, ‘This isn't my first rodeo.’”

“What is going on out there that would lead this man to believe that I was lying?”

Paul continued, ‘’He said, ‘Do you see any other dogs in this restaurant?’ I said, ‘Honestly, no. I'm blind. There could be.’”

When Paul offered to come back with his dog’s paperwork, he says he was told, “If you step foot back in this restaurant with that dog I will call the police.”

“I'm speechless,” he concluded his video, which at press time had 5.1 million views.

Does anyone else have a problem with both our Presidential candidates?

I woke up this morning and thought about how completely insane it is that we have two extremely old men running for President of the United States, and that really bothers me.

One will be 80 in two years, and the other is going to be 82 in November.

That's insane!!!

Why are Americans allowing this to happen?

In 1992 we elected 46 year old Bill Clinton. In 2000 we elected 54 year old George Bush. In 2008 we elected 47 year old Barack Obama to be President. Now we're electing geriatrics!

I'm very concerned about their age, and no my name isn't Susan Collins.

80 year olds should not be running for President, much less BE a President. Their mental faculties are severely declined, as is their judgment.

We are so screwed.

In Our Name: A Message from Jewish Students at Columbia University

"To the Columbia Community:

Over the past six months, many have spoken in our name. Some are well-meaning alumni or non-affiliates who show up to wave the Israeli flag outside Columbia’s gates. Some are politicians looking to use our experiences to foment America’s culture war. Most notably, some are our Jewish peers who tokenize themselves by claiming to represent “real Jewish values,” and attempt to delegitimize our lived experiences of antisemitism. We are here, writing to you as Jewish students at Columbia University, who are connected to our community and deeply engaged with our culture and history. We would like to speak in our name.

Many of us sit next to you in class. We are your lab partners, your study buddies, your peers, and your friends. We partake in the same student government, clubs, Greek life, volunteer organizations, and sports teams as you.

Most of us did not choose to be political activists. We do not bang on drums and chant catchy slogans. We are average students, just trying to make it through finals much like the rest of you. Those who demonize us under the cloak of anti-Zionism forced us into our activism and forced us to publicly defend our Jewish identities.

We proudly believe in the Jewish People’s right to self-determination in our historic homeland as a fundamental tenet of our Jewish identity. Contrary to what many have tried to sell you – no, Judaism cannot be separated from Israel. Zionism is, simply put, the manifestation of that belief.

Our religious texts are replete with references to Israel, Zion, and Jerusalem. The land of Israel is filled with archaeological remnants of a Jewish presence spanning centuries. Yet, despite generations of living in exile and diaspora across the globe, the Jewish People never ceased dreaming of returning to our homeland — Judea, the very place from which we derive our name, “Jews.” Indeed just a couple of days ago, we all closed our Passover seders with the proclamation, “Next Year in Jerusalem!”

Many of us are not religiously observant, yet Zionism remains a pillar of our Jewish identities. We have been kicked out of Russia, Libya, Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Poland, Egypt, Algeria, Germany, Iran, and the list goes on. We connect to Israel not only as our ancestral homeland but as the only place in the modern world where Jews can safely take ownership of their own destiny. Our experiences at Columbia in the last six months are a poignant reminder of just that.

We were raised on stories from our grandparents of concentration camps, gas chambers, and ethnic cleansing. The essence of Hitler’s antisemitism was the very fact that we were “not European” enough, that as Jews we were threats to the “superior” Aryan race. This ideology ultimately left six million of our own in ashes.

The evil irony of today’s antisemitism is a twisted reversal of our Holocaust legacy; protestors on campus have dehumanized us, imposing upon us the characterization of the “white colonizer.” We have been told that we are “the oppressors of all brown people” and that “the Holocaust wasn’t special.” Students at Columbia have chanted “we don’t want no Zionists here,” alongside “death to the Zionist State” and to “go back to Poland,” where our relatives lie in mass graves.

The "American Dream" is under siege with a stubbornly high cost of living

The long-rumored recession has been postponed – or perhaps canceled altogether.

The soft-landing vibes are real. Inflation is cooling. The economy is growing at a shockingly strong pace. And unemployment hasn’t been this low for this long since the late 1960s.

And yet, hidden behind these boomy-economic indicators, a frustrating reality persists: Life is far too expensive for far too many.

From the historically unaffordable housing market and budget-breaking day care rates to high car prices, the United States has a cost of living problem many years in the making.

Parents of young children are making difficult choices to afford child care — or they’re opting to evade it by dropping out of the workforce altogether.

Parents are also struggling to buy bigger cars to haul around their growing families while simultaneously socking away some money in college savings plans.

For too many, the American Dream feels like an illusion.

America’s affordability problem is most glaring in the housing market.

The one-two punch of high home prices and elevated mortgage rates caused by the Federal Reserve’s war on inflation has made the housing market historically unaffordable.

Housing is often the biggest expense for families. But in today’s market, housing is swallowing up an uncomfortably large chunk of family budgets.

As of February, it took about 34% of the median household’s monthly income to cover the principal and interest payments on a median-priced home, according to research from the Intercontinental Exchange.

This metric of housing affordability recently hit the highest level since 1984, though it has eased a bit as mortgages backed away after flirting with 8% in October. Still, at nearly 7%, mortgage rates remain elevated.

Of course, the affordability challenge varies greatly by market.

Not surprisingly, six of the 10 least affordable housing markets are located in California, where Allison and her family live.

Mortgage payments are gobbling up roughly two-thirds of median income in Los Angeles (68%) and San Diego (60%), according to ICE.

The elusiveness of buying a home today is especially problematic because home ownership remains the main ticket to building generational wealth in America.

For those fortunate enough to already own a home, high prices have boosted their net worth.

That wealth can be tapped to improve their homes, pay for college or start a business.

Others, many of them younger Americans, are stuck on the outside looking in.

“If you’re already owning a home, this feels great. Home price gains have made your balance sheet stronger. That’s a great line of defense in case something goes wrong,” said Lotfi Karoui, chief credit analyst at Goldman Sachs. “The issue is the entry barrier for new buyers has rarely been as high as today.”

And this situation is widening the divide between the haves and have-nots.

Brianna Ghey murder trial starts in UK

Brianna was the 15 year old male born trans girl stabbed to death in February this year that saw a wave of vigils in the UK. A male and female teenager aged 15 were charged with the murder

The UK has very strict contempt of court laws so the information presented to the jury is the first time it has been made public.

As was suspected at the time Brianna wasn't killed simply because she was trans. The 2 perps have been diagnosed with autism and had an unnatural obsession with torture and murder and the girl attempted to kill Brianna by giving her an overdose, which she recovered from.

The perps then planned to kill a boy by strangling him and stage it as him hanging himself, but they couldn't afford the rope. The girl perp had told the boy perp that she really liked Brianna and she became the next target.

Parts of the court testimony made me think of Heathers.

Jennifer Aniston Is Jealous of Julia Roberts’ Plastic Surgery Work, Says Source

Yahoo Entertainment Jennifer Aniston Is Jealous of Julia Roberts’ Plastic Surgery Work, Says Source Michael Gioia Wed, April 3, 2024 at 7:10 AM MST 1 min read

Julia Roberts' subtle and strategic nips and tucks are giving Jennifer Aniston a serious case of sour grapes, an insider exclusively tells Life & Style.

Roberts, 56, "is quietly boasting she's found a way to turn back the clock without going over the top," the source says. "She looks fantastic. You can see that she's had a little work on her eyes, but nothing too extreme. It's done wonders for her self-esteem and her marriage because her husband, Danny Moder, can't keep his hands off her."

But Roberts' youthful glow is causing Aniston, 55, to turn green with envy, according to Life & Style sources.

"Jen's getting trolled for the work she's had done, while Julia is being feted as this forever young sex symbol. She is frantically trying to find out who Julia's doctor is, but she's getting shut out," says an insider.

"It looks like Julia's had Botox to her lower to the forehead and her upper eyes done," says top Chicago plastic surgeon Dr. Otto Placik. "I think she's likely had Botox and filler to the lip region and maybe in the cheeks as well."

He also points out some plastic-surgery fails on the former Friends star. "I think Jennifer got filler eyelids that is not sitting well, and it looks as though her lower eyelids have been tightened," says Placik, who has not treated either star.

"It looks like she's got undesirable filler in what we call the tear trough. And then she looks like she's definitely had some filler to her lower lip."

I Miss My Mom

My mom died from cancer 22 years ago, just a couple of weeks after her 60th birthday. She used to proclaim that she was a typical Capricorn: tall, dark, and dignified. In fact, she could barely top five feet when stretching, and while she had a highly-respectable demeanor she had a wicked sense of humor and was always quick to laugh. She had a wonderful voice, especially on the telephone. She was so good on the phone that she caught the attention of the AT&T rep who was assisting with the installation of a new phone system in her office, and ended up with her picture on full-page ads in TIME, Newsweek, and several national newspapers. She dropped out of school to marry my dad, and she was self-conscious about her lack of formal education. She overcompensated by always keeping a dictionary handy, and having the most beautiful, clear penmanship you ever saw. All my father's friends were a little bit in love with her. Many's the time I would overhear them talking and telling him how lucky he was. She loved people, and would do just about anything for anyone -especially if it was something they needed. She threw marvelous birthday parties for my sister and me . We didn't have much money, so she did it all on creativity and by working trades with friends and neighbors. She'd sew clothes and Halloween costumes, embroider napkins -whatever someone needed. Her family was everything to her, and she would do anything for us. No, she wasn't a saint. Who is? But I grew up never doubting for a minute that I was loved -and there are a lot of people who can't say that.

I miss talking with her -sharing awful puns and shaggy dog stories. I miss her always-practical advice. I miss that look of absolute concentration when she was doing something creative. I guess I just miss her. I used to love Mothers Day, because I knew that she would love whatever I bought or did for her. After she died, I hated it -another reminder that she was gone. Now, somehow, I'm just numb to it. It's like a holiday associated with a different religion. I know it's out there, but It's not meant for me. All you younger guys, love and appreciate your mothers while you can. As a kid, you hated getting socks and underwear on your birthday or Christmas, but there will come a day when there's no one but you who'll buy you those those things, and you'll realize just how great it was to not have to spend your own money on them...

I love you, Mom, and I miss you. Happy Mothers Day!

Ohio State Grad's mother suffers fatal fall from stadium during graduation ceremony

The woman who plunged to her death from the stands of the Ohio State University commencement ceremony over the weekend was identified as a graduate’s parent — and her death was likely a suicide, officials announced Tuesday.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office said Larissa Brady, 53, of Georgia was pronounced dead after falling 136 feet from the Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Sunday.

She was identified by her fingerprints.

Police are still investigating the tragedy, but believe it was “not accidental.”

Foul play, however, is not suspected, university spokesperson Ben Johnson confirmed to The Post.

“Ohio State is grieving the death of Larissa Brady, a family member of one of our graduates. Our hearts go out to her family and friends during this exceptionally difficult time,” Johnson said.

Brady’s daughter was among those graduating, the Columbus Dispatch reported, citing the commencement program.

I watched this television movie the night it premiered, in October of 1983. I was always someone who indulged in pop culture and male beauty. This was the perfect film for me and I liked it very much.

Besides Jon-Erik Hexum, it also stars male models Brendan O'Neill, Patrick Warburton, George Oliver, Ted McGinley, and Scott Campbell.

Good Morning, Miss Dove (1955)

I just watched this movie starring Jennifer Jones and Mike Connors from 1955. Jones played a stoic and sensible woman who teaches geography at the local school in a small New England town. She gains respect from the local townspeople, and they have grave concern when she becomes ill and needs surgery.

Some call this a 'classic' along the lines of 'Goodbye Mr. Chips', others find the movie a little too fake and Jones' performance robotic. Im caught somewhere in the middle.

Anyone here ever watch this ? What do you think ?

Woman sues the State of Hawaii because it didn't warn her of the "dangers of snorkeling"

A Michigan woman and her family are suing a Maui resort, the Hawaiian Tourism Authority, and the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau after her husband died while snorkeling. She doesn’t believe it was a drowning.

Patricia and Ray Johnson, along with four friends, arrived at the Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui on the evening of Feb. 23, 2022, with plans to visit multiple islands over several weeks. This was the couple’s sixth time in Hawaii, and they had snorkeled the Hawaiian waters many times in the past, Patricia told USA TODAY.

On the morning of Feb. 25, some of the travelers, including Ray, went snorkeling around Wailea Beach, which fronts the resort, while Patricia opted to walk a trail that overlooks the beach. “I looked out, and I saw my husband and my friends or people out there,” she told USA TODAY. “I’m waving at him, and it hits me.” Patricia saw what looked like other snorkelers helping Ray.

She hurried down to the beach, but “things deteriorated quickly.” At first, Ray had his head above water and was returning to the beach, but then the 64-year-old fell onto his back with his head “snapped back at one point” and had to be pulled in. “I knew he was gone,” she said. 9-1-1 was called, but medical professionals failed to resuscitate Ray.

The autopsy report called Ray’s death an accidental drowning, which Patricia doesn’t believe.

“I was watching him come in, how could he be drowning?” According to her friends who were snorkeling with him, Ray was talking and also diving down under the water. At one point, he came up and said, “You gotta help me, I’m having trouble breathing,” and that’s when he decided to head back to shore. “I don’t think when people are drowning in a conditional manner, you’re going to be conversing,” she said.

By a landslide, the leading cause of death for Hawaii tourists is drowning. And of ocean drownings for residents and visitors, the majority occur when snorkeling. While the ocean is powerful and unpredictable, some advocates, including the Johnsons, are trying to bring attention to a lesser-known medical condition that specifically poses risks to snorkelers and hasn’t gotten much attention over the years: Rapid Onset Pulmonary Edema (ROPE).

The Johnson family believes ROPE is the real cause of Ray’s death, and the lawsuit alleges that Hawaii travel entities have failed to educate the public on ROPE, resulting in “an important public health concern,” according to the complaint filed in the Circuit Court of the First Circuit in the State of Hawaii in February 2024. The case should begin the fact-discovery process this week.

The Hawaiian Tourism Authority, Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and Fairmont Kea Lani declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Chris Cuomo says he was wrong about Ivermectin: "I am now taking a regular dose"

Chris Cuomo’s stance on Ivermectin as a theraputic drug for COVID-19 has done a complete 180, as the news anchor who once said on CNN that anyone promoting it should be “shamed” now says he’s “taking a regular dose” to deal with his own struggles with long-term effects of an infection.

Cuomo shared in January that he’s suffering from “long COVID,” or the long-term lingering effects of a previous infection. This week on the PBD Podcast, a current-events show hosted by Patrick Bet-David, the NewsNation personality said he’s using the antiviral to help with an ongoing inflammatory response and “brain fog.”

“I’ll tell you something else that’s gonna get you a lot of hits,” Cuomo said. “I am taking … a regular dose of Ivermectin. Ivermectin was a boogeyman during COVID. That was wrong. We were given bad information about Ivermectin. The real question is, why?”

When COVID-19 was peaking in 2020 and 2021, Ivermectin emerged as a fringe remedy, and was instantly denounced as a “horse dewormer” – including a segment that mocked podcaster Joe Rogan for announcing that he had success taking the antiviral drug. Though it was first used in the 1970s as an antiparasitic primarily for animals, Ivermectin’s use in humans had become widespread in later decades, as a malaria prophylaxis and treatment in particular, and is considered very safe.

“Everyone’s going to say ‘Joe Rogan was right,'” Cuomo continued. “No, Joe Rogan was saying – yeah, he was right – that’s not what matters. What matters is, the entire medical community knew that Ivermectin couldn’t hurt you. They knew it … I know they knew it. How do I know? Because now I’m doing nothing but talking to these clinicians, who at the time were overwhelmed by COVID, and they weren’t saying anything!”

Bill Maher blasts Biden trillion dollar loan forgiveness for Jew hating students

"Real Time" host Bill Maher took aim at President Biden's latest student loan handout proposal, insisting his own tax dollars, by extension, will be funding the "Jew hating" on college campuses.

During Friday night's panel discussion, while discussing the anti-Israel unrest occurring at top universities in recent weeks, Maher said he gets "so incensed" at how many of the students participating receive federal aid.

"When I read about the college loans… 'Biden administration's student debt cancelation will cost a combined $870 billion to $1.4 trillion. That's a lot of debt forgiveness," Maher said.

Maher continued, "Colleges constantly raise tuition, then the kids take out more loans, then the government comes by and pays those loans. Okay, so my tax dollars are supporting this Jew hating? I don't think so."

Fox News contributor Kellyanne Conway said the student loan handout was unfair, telling Maher "You can't have plumbers and pipefitters playing for the student loans of doctors and lawyers."

"I'm all for the government trying to help people who need it, but he did that as a political play and everybody knows it. He's bleeding young people support." Conway added.

"And it hasn't worked," Bloomberg Businessweek correspondent Joshua Green chimed in. "If you look at issues that young people care about, Gaza is like 15th out of 16th. And the only thing that comes in lower than Gaza is student loan forgiveness. So it hasn't worked as a motivator for the youth vote, you know, half of which are out there chanting ‘Genocide Joe.’ So it's backfired not just in terms of public policy, but in terms of the politics, too."

"Yeah, I mean, Trump is winning the youth vote by I think 11 points, that's pretty astounding to me," Maher said, referring to a recent CNN poll. "What do you make of that?"

"What I make of that a lot of it is if you turn on your TV today, you see young people protesting, angry, fighting with cops," Green said. "What you don't see is Donald Trump in a criminal trial.

"Biden was elected to push aside the chaos and the havoc of the Trump years. I think everybody can agree on that… You turn on your TV and see what's going on these campuses, it hasn't happened. And that's one big reason why he's losing the vote, one big reason why he's losing the youth vote."

"Yes, chaos and crisis in the Trump administration in a tweet, in a comment here and there, now it's chaos and crisis everywhere we look!" Conway exclaimed. "At the border, on our college campuses, by the way, in our halls of Congress, Congress, 31 Democrats voted against the resolution last October 18 to condemn Hezbollah and Hamas."

She continued, "And the resolution clearly said, Bill, that they were concerned about institutions of higher education allowing sympathies for Hezbollah and Hamas, which our own government, Biden's government, Trump's government have declared terrorist groups and they specifically said in there it was going to hurt, make uncomfortable, if not worse, Jewish students with all this antisemitism. That was October 18! 31 Democrats including the most well known young ones, the Squad that doesn't do squat, for example, all voted against that resolution."

"I couldn't agree more," Maher responded.

He lived in NYC for a few years in the late 80s and 90s after getting signed by a NYC agency (he had already been working steadily in Italy and Europe).

He married Elena Rostropovich, a Russian musician and daughter of cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich and soprano Galina Vishnevskaya. In 1974 her family was forced to leave Russia, moving to NYC. She studied at Juilliard School of Music and graduated in 3 years, then took her studies to Vermont.

She is over a decade older than Stefano and had two children already when they married.

Conjoined Twin Abby Hensel Got Married in a 2021 Wedding Ceremony

Conjoined twin Abby Hensel is married.

The former TLC reality star, 34, who first gained notoriety alongside sister Brittany when the pair appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996, tied the knot with Josh Bowling, a nurse and United States Army veteran, in 2021, according to public records obtained by Today.

The Hensels' Facebook profile photo appears to be a wedding image, with the conjoined twins wearing a wedding dress, while Bowling, in a grey suit, stands before them holding their hand.

According to Today, the twins are now fifth grade teachers and reside in Minnesota, where they were born and raised.

Bowling’s Facebook page also features happy images of him with the twins enjoying ice cream and traveling together. Additionally, his X profile, which is linked to his Facebook account, reads, "Christian, Father, Husband, Veteran, and occasional gamer."

PEOPLE reached out to the Abby and Brittany Hensel, as well as Bowling, but did not immediately get a response.

The Hensels are dicephalus conjoined twins, a rare form of partial twinning with two heads side by side on one torso. They share a bloodstream and all organs below the waist. Abby controls their right arm and leg, while Brittany controls the left.

Following their Oprah appearance, the Hensel's lives were documented on the TLC reality series Abby & Brittany, which followed them as they prepared to graduate from Minnesota's Bethel College and later traveled to Europe.

"People have been curious about us since we were born, for obvious reasons," the twins said in the first episode of the eight-part series, according to ABC. "But our parents never let us use that as an excuse. We were raised to believe we could do anything we wanted to do."

At birth, doctors presented the possibility of separating the twins. But their parents, Patty and Mike, decided against the surgery after being told there was little chance that both could survive the procedure.

“How could you pick between the two?” Mike said in a 2001 interview with TIME.

In that same interview, he also talked about the possibility of marriage one day for Abby and Brittany. At the time, the magazine reported that they were already asking their father about finding husbands someday.

Knowing that other conjoined twins have married, he thought, why not? "They're good-looking girls. They're witty. They've got everything going for them, except they're together," Mike said.

Madonna's 1990 album "I'm Breathless" - most underrated in her career ?

34 years ago this month, on May 22, 1990, Madonna released her studio album "I'm Breathless' (Music From and Inspired By The Film 'Dick Tracy'). Madonna co-starred in the movie with her boyfriend (at the time) Warren Beatty, playing 'Breathless Mahoney'. Her acting was forgettable, but this album was one of her best (IMO). Three songs were written by Stephen Sondheim, and several songs were co-written by Madonna. The album incorporated pop, jazz and swing. The album peaked at #2 on the Hot 200 Albums Chart in the US, but hit #1 in many countries around the world.

The lead single was "Vogue" and the follow-up was "Hanky Panky". Sondheim's "Sooner or Later" won the Academy Award for 'Best Song' that year. "Vogue" topped the Hot 100 Singles Chart in the US, as well the 'Dance Charts', and went to #1 in other countries. In the summer of 1990, her second single "Hanky Panky" peaked at #10 on the Hot 100 Singles, and did about the same in other countries.

What do you all think of the album ? Is it one that's on your Madonna playlist (if you still listen to her) ?

Bethenny Frankel, fiancé Paul Bernon reportedly split after nearly six years together

Reality star Bethenny Frankel and her fiancé, Paul Bernon, have reportedly split.

The former "Real Housewives of New York" star and the film producer called off their engagement about two months ago and after nearly six years together, Us Weekly reported Monday.

Representatives for Frankel and Bernon did not immediately respond Tuesday to The Times' requests for comment.

“It just wasn’t going to work,” a mutual friend of the former couple told Us Weekly. “They are so different — he’s an under-the-radar kind of guy."

The "ReWives" podcast host reportedly kept her 10-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring — valued at approximately $1 million — confusing her droves of social media followers when she continued to wear it in recent weeks.

She and Bernon began dating in October 2018 after meeting on a dating app and began living together.

“I was pretty lucky when I walked in and saw him,” Frankel told People in April 2021. “He had a twinkle. He came as advertised — better than advertised. He overshot the mark.”

The two briefly split in October 2020 but reunited in January 2021. About two months later, they announced their engagement after she finalized her long-running divorce from Jason Hoppy, with whom she shares 13-year-old daughter Bryn.

Nancy Mace has had 100% staff turnover since Nov. 1

Nine staff gone in three months.

What is it about elected Republican women? She was slightly more stealth with her craziness than MTG and Boebert, but plenty more abusive. Ol' battle ax Nance makes Amy Klobuchar seem angelic.
Another senior staffer recalled how Mace called them close to midnight on Christmas Eve and demanded to know why she wasn’t getting on TV more during the holiday week.
"If she needed us, we had to answer within eight minutes,” this staffer said, clarifying that the eight minute timeframe was actually a “rule.”
"All this is why pretty much every staffer and fellow member on the Hill thinks she’s a joke,” this ex-employee said. “Also a big reason why she’s only able to hire former George Santos staffers right now.”
Mace’s propensity to ensure everyone was working all the time. Even on Good Friday, when some staff just wanted to take an hour off to go to Mass in the late afternoon, Mace wouldn’t have it, two former senior staffers said. (The House was adjourned at the time.)

Plenty more insanity at link. I didn't get a subscription wall.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - this was good but JC why don’t they make 2 hour movies anymore?

It reminded me of the Simpsons couch gag where they spoof the runtime of the Hobbit. I guess this is what a generation of filmmakers weaned on Peter Jackson instead of Robert Zemeckis resulted in.

If KotPotA cut out all the scenes of apes riding on horseback and had the apes speak at normal speed instead of taking pauses between their words, they would have a 2 hour movie.

Remembering Marion Lorne

56 years ago on May 9, 1968, Marion Lorne MacDougal (no relation to Karen which we know of) kicked the bucket at the age of 84. Lorne died of a heart attack, and was found in her Manhattan apartment. She had played "Aunt Clara" on 27 episodes of the first four seasons of 'Bewitched', and production of the fifth season was about to begin a matter of weeks. The producers decided not to replace her, as they did Alice Pearce (Mrs Kravitz) when she died in 1966. Instead, they introduced a new character similar to Aunt Clara, named 'Esmarelda ' (Sam's 'yoo-hoo maid'), played by Alice Ghostley. Audiences didn't take a liking to her.

Patti Lu Pone

She was born into a very loud Italian Catholic family in New York. After Julliard she trained under John Houseman, who helped her get her big break on Broadway, where she was nominated for a Tony the next year.

Then, in 1979, she received international acclaim and a Tony as Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd Weber's Evita. She had finally "made it." She became the premier American stage actress appearing in The Cradle Will Rock, Les Misérables, Anything Goes, and Company to name a few. She also had a stable film and television career, Witness, Driving Miss Daisy, Life Goes On, Law & Order, 30 Rock, and American Horror Story.

Outspoken and brutally honest, she has not been shy about telling rude audience members to leave the theatre. Let's discuss the great American stage actress Patti Lu Pone.

Best Sunscreen I have ever, ever used

Hello- If any of you are into facial sunscreens- This one is the best sunscreen I have ever used..

Its tinted, not greasy in the least- I have tried everything. This stuff is even better than Elta and all of the Japanese sunscreens. It melts into the skin- its crazy.

Its expensive, but you can get for 20-25% off at retailers and ocasionally direct from Isdin, and I got mine for 30% during some sale at end of last year-

This bottle is also 3.4 ounces- I purchased the large one because its a better deal, and it makes you use the proper amount (most people use way too little)

Target to Reduce Number of Stores Carrying Pride-Themed Merchandise

Target confirmed that it won't be carrying its LGBTQ+ merchandise for Pride month in June in some stores after the discount retailer received backlash last year for its assortment that also cut into sales.

Target, which operates roughly 2,000 stores, said Friday that the decision to offer Pride merchandise, including adult apparel, home products, food and beverage at the stores will be based on "guest insights and consumer research."

A Target spokeswoman declined to disclose the number of stores that won't be carrying the merchandise. But a full assortment will be offered online, Target said.

"Target is committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month and year-round," Target said in an emailed statement to The Associated Press. "Most importantly, we want to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our LGBTQIA+ team members, which reflects our culture of care for the over 400,000 people who work at Target. "

The moves, first reported by Bloomberg, come after Target removed some items from its stores and made other changes to its LGBTQ+ merchandise nationwide ahead of Pride month last year after intense reaction from some customers who confronted workers and tipped over displays. Target also moved Pride displays to the back of its stores in certain Southern locations last year.

But Target faces a second backlash from customers upset by the discount retailer's reaction to aggressive, anti-LGBTQ+ activism, which has also been sweeping through Republican state legislatures. Civil rights groups had scolded the company for caving to anti-LGBTQ+ customers who expressed outrage over gender-fluid bathing suits that it had carried. The anti-LGBTQ+ customers also posted threatening videos on social media from inside the stores.

Target's latest moves are just another example of how companies are struggling to cater to different groups of customers at a time of extreme cultural divides, particularly around transgender rights. Last year, brand Bud Light got negative response from customers angered by its attempt to broaden its customer base by partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

‘Mother of the Bride’ Review: Brooke Shields Says I Do to Netflix’s Aggressively Inoffensive Rom-Com

After “Ticket to Paradise” and “Shotgun Wedding” showed us the different ways in which calamity ensues when planning weddings abroad, Netflix releases “Mother of the Bride,” which combines the essential elements of both those recent romantic comedies into one passable package. The far-off setting emphasizes the lavish and luxe, though the narrative is cheaply woven and fairly threadbare. While “Mean Girls” director Mark Waters’ latest fails to add anything unique to the conversation, it does scrounge up a modest amount of heart when it comes to its saccharine sweet message of never giving up on happily ever after.

Mere seconds after her extravagant proposal, Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) begins fretting to her fiancé RJ (Sean Teale) about how to frame their engagement to her judgmental widowed mom Dr. Lana Winslow (Brooke Shields), who doesn’t even know her only child has a steady beau. Cue zany, plucky score. Mom’s been busy saving the world, locking down grants and researching genetic diseases in San Francisco, but plans to make up for lost time once Emma returns home from graduating university in London. Lana is in for a few surprises. Not only does her daughter have a future husband, she also has a new career as a professional social media influencer. And Emma’s first gig as a brand ambassador for a luxury resort in Thailand is her own destination wedding.

Trump-appointed Judge blocks Biden Admin's $8 credit card fee cap costing cardholders $800 million PER MONTH
A federal judge in Texas on Friday halted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's new rule capping credit card late fees at $8, a victory for business and banking groups challenging part of the Biden administration's crackdown on "junk fees." U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman in Fort Worth issued a preliminary injunction, opens new tab preventing the rule from taking effect next week. The injunction was sought by groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Bankers Association.
Pittman, appointed by Republican then-President Donald Trump, cited a 2022 ruling by the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which found the CFPB's funding structure unconstitutional. "Consequently, any regulations promulgated under that regime are likely unconstitutional as well," Pittman wrote. "Thus, Plaintiffs establish a likelihood of success on the merits."
A CFPB spokesperson said the regulator will keep defending the rule, saying "consumers will shoulder $800 million in late fees every month that the rule is delayed - money that pads the profit margins of the largest credit card issuers." According to the CFPB, issuers collected more than $14 billion worth of credit card late fees in 2022, with an average fee of $32. The rule would block card issuers with more than 1 million open accounts from charging more than $8 for late fees, unless they could prove higher fees are necessary to cover their costs.

Bottom line, Trump appointee takes money out of your pocket and gives it to the big banks for them to gamble away, but don't worry, if they lose it all we'll bail them out. [Italic]Again.[/italic]

The psychological thriller films of the early-mid 2000s

There seemed to be an abundance of these films made at this time (particularly teen/young adult-oriented ones), and as a lifelong cinephile who was coming of age at that time, I have found myself having an immense nostalgia for them lately. I recently watched "Abandon" (2002) for the first time—and odd movie with a weird plot, but the cast is quintessential early 2000s: Katie Holmes, Benjamin Bratt, Zooey Deschanel, Gabrielle Union, Melanie Lynskey, Charlie Hunnam; Tony Goldwyn and Fred Ward also show up in it. I wouldn't say it was a good movie per se, but I can say that I loved every second of it. Let's name some favorites.

Christopher Isherwood

I’ve been going down a rabbit hole about gay author Christopher Isherwood.

One thing that is said is that in the first edition of Sally Bowles, that she was antisemitic, which represented Isherwood’s beliefs. He later changed his beliefs and had the antisemitism scrubbed from the story. Does anyone know what was originally written?

Also, the woman that Sally Bowles is based on, Jean Ross, admitted to having a few lovers, but she resented being portrayed as a brash flapper and that she wasn’t like that at all and in real life worked as a writer and social activist.

William R. Moses- from 80s heartthrob to Vintage Beefcake

William Remington Moses was born on November 17, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of Marian McCargo, an actress and tennis star, and Richard Cantrell Moses, an advertising executive. His parents divorced when he was just a toddler. His mother would go on to get remarried to Republican Congressman Alphonzo E. Bell Jr. in 1970. Congressman Bell adopted William and his two brothers so they were legally his own children too.

He was a star athlete in school and after high school he attended Wesleyan University briefly before dropping out after meeting an agent who convinced Moses to have a change of heart. Moses never had any interest in acting until meeting the agent. Moses was almost immediately cast in a Sprite commercial. After that he was cast in his first film, Choices (also Demi Moore’s first film). Shortly after making Choices, he would land a role that would change his life and be his big break, Falcon Crest. He was asked to read for the role of “Cole Gioberti” and won the role, a role he would play for 6 seasons before leaving.

In 1988 he co-starred with Julia Roberts in Mystic Pizza and then in 1989 he began a string of Perry Mason TV movies series. He would make 17 Perry Mason TV movies from 1989 to 1993 playing an attorney who worked with the title character. After the death of Raymond Burr he would continue to play his character in 4 more tv movies, in 1994 and 1995. In 1992 he would have a recurring role on Melrose Place for 11 episodes. In 1997 he starred in the series Fame L.A., which got canceled fast. He also continued doing guest roles throughout the 90s and 00s in numerous shows, like Touched by an Angel, JAG, LA Doctors, Ally McBeal, Crossing Jordan, Seventh Heaven, NCIS, Cold Case, Tru Calling, CSI: Miami, Bones, Ghost Whisperer, Without a Trace, Castle, Big Love and numerous others.

He had numerous other roles in some small films and tv movies, and from 2005-2008 he starred in nine of the Jane Doe series of TV films as Jack Davis. In November 2022 he joined the cast of General Hospital as Jeff Webber.

While starring on “Falcon Crest” he would also do numerous guest appearances on other shows, such as Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Hotel, and Battle of the Network Stars, with the latter being where he met Tracy Nelson (daughter of Ricky Nelson and Kristin Harmon) and would begin dating. They married in 1987 and divorced in 1997. They had two daughters together. In 2000 he remarried.

"Rock 'n' Roll High School"

Someone was discussing PJ Soles on another thread and it got me to rewatch RNRHS on Tubi.

What a fun movie. One of Mary Woronov's best roles as the sadistic principal Miss Evelyn Togar (she experiments on mice playing Ramones records until they explode). PJ is terrific as Riff Randall, the Ramones' biggest fan. Vincent Van Patten at his teenage handsomest. Apple accused of dancing on the death of creativity

Oh bitch bitch bitch. Andy Warhol would have loved this.

Apple crushed by iPad advertising backlash

Daniel Thomas

An advert by Apple for its new iPad tablet showing musical instruments, artistic tools and games being crushed by a giant hydraulic press has been attacked for cultural insensitivity in an online backlash.

The one-minute video was launched by Apple chief executive Tim Cook to support its new range of iPads, the first time that the US tech giant has overhauled the range for two years as it seeks to reverse faltering sales.

The campaign — soundtracked by Sonny and Cher’s 1971 hit All I Ever Need Is You — is designed to show how much Apple has been able to squeeze into the thinner tablet. The ad was produced in-house by Apple’s creative team, according to trade press reports.

The campaign has been hit by a wave of outrage, with responses on social media reacting to Cook’s X post accusing Apple of crushing “beautiful creative tools” and the “symbols of human creativity and cultural achievements”.

Advertising industry executives argued the ad represented a misstep for the Silicon Valley giant, which under late co-founder Steve Jobs was lauded for its ability to capture consumer attention through past campaigns.

Christopher Slevin, creative director for marketing agency Inkling Culture, compared the iPad ad unfavourably to a famous Apple campaign directed by Ridley Scott called “1984” for the original Macintosh computer, which positioned Apple as liberating a dystopian, monochrome world.

“Apple’s new iPad spot is essentially them turning into the thing they said they were out to destroy in the 1984 ad,” said Slevin.

Actor Hugh Grant accused Apple of “the destruction of the human experience courtesy of Silicon Valley” on X.

However, Richard Exon, founder of marketing agency Joint, said: “A more important question is: does the ad do its job? It’s memorable, distinctive and I now know the new iPad has even more in it yet is thinner than ever.”

Consumer insights platform Zappi conducted consumer research on the ad that suggested that the idea of the hydraulic press crushing art was divisive.

It said that the ad underperformed benchmarks in typically sought-after emotions such as happiness and laughter and overperformed in traditionally negative emotions like shock and confusion, with older people more likely to have a negative response than younger consumers.

Nataly Kelly, chief marketing officer at Zappi, said: “Is the Apple iPad ad a work of genius or the sign of the dystopian times? It really depends on how old you are. The shock value is the power of this advert, which is controversial by design, so the fact that people are talking about it at all is a win.”

Apple TV's Constellation Series. Anyone watching?

It's pretty good but still confusing.

The storyline is heavily influenced around Quantam Mechanics and a device that seems to be responsible for the strange events occurring in the Series.

The space station cinematography was very realistic. The acting is pretty good so far too.

We haven't had a decent science fiction tv series in a while in my opinion, and Beacon 23 was a bit of a letdown.

Alexander Skarsgard is the lead in new kinky biker queer film, “Pillion”

Harry Melling, who is best known for playing Dudley Dursley in the Wizarding World, is set to become a '24/7 submissive' to Alexander Skarsgård in the upcoming movie Pillion.

Melling starts as Colin in the upcoming movie, who is described as 'a weedy wallflower letting life pass him by',

But his life is well and truly turned upside down when he meets Ray (Skarsgård), the handsome leader of a motorcycle gang, and leaves his suburban life to enter an unknown world of queer, kinky bikers.

On top of that, they are apparently 'taking all sorts of virginities along the way', too.

But as Colin becomes deeply involved in Ray's world of 'rules and mysteries', he begins to question 'whether the life of a 24/7 submissive is for him'. "Has he found his calling, or simply swapped one form of suffocation for another?" the press release says.

Amazon weirdness

Amazon shipped me the wrong size sneakers twice. I complained the first time and they shipped "the correct" size within 2 days. And it's the wrong size again. Just spent 1 hour on live chat. They kept saying - "return the shoes and you can order the correct size".

I replied, multiple times, "I ordered the correct size to begin with. Amazon keeps shipping the incorrect size for my order."

Finally he asked for pics so took the the damn pics.

I asked multiple times - does the shoe even exist in the half size that I ordered, which is what you advertise?

No answer to that question ever.

Then they offered me 20% discount if I keep the shoe. I replied, "I want the shoe in the size. I ordered. Does it exist?" No answer.

Finally they refunded purchase price. I said I was confused - should I ship both pairs back? No, he said, keep both.

Why do I want 2 pairs of wrongly sized shoes?

And more interesting - do these products actually have much real value? Is the price almost all selling operations and profit?

Do you have a weird experience to share?

PS - I would buy them at Brick and Mortar but wide shoes are rare and hard to find in Europe, except in Germany.

NY governor slammed for saying black children don't know what computers are

Girl you in trouble!

New York Governor Kathy Hochul is facing backlash for saying that black children in the Bronx don't know the word "computer". "Right now, we have young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don't even know what the word 'computer' is," she said. "They don't know these things." The Democrat made the comments while speaking to a technology panel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

Ms Hochul later said that she misspoke and regrets it. She was at the Milken Institute Global Conference on Monday to discuss New York's artificial intelligence initiative. During a fireside chat, Ms Hochul spoke of a new AI consortium involving universities and state schools.

She said funds raised by the state would help build a supercomputer that will be accessible to researchers.

The governor then said that black children in the Bronx don't know what the word "computer" is.

Ben Affleck pissed at JHo for convincing him to get fillers

Ben Affleck is “upset” with his wife, Jennifer Lopez, for influencing him to get injectable fillers after his appearance at Tom Brady’s live Netflix roast ignited plastic surgery rumors.

“Ben's comedy roast of Tom Brady seems to have backfired,” a source exclusively In Touch on Tuesday, May 7. “He was coming for the public’s negative social media comments towards Tom but ended up igniting a firestorm about his own appearance. He’s furious because he’s getting slammed for fillers and Botox that Jen pushed him to get.”

Ben, 51, took the stage to roast the retired NFL player during the live broadcast on Sunday, May 5. While his roast was received by fans with mixed reviews, viewers were quick to go online and speculate if the Batman actor had undergone plastic surgery after debuting a crease-free face.

“Ben’s upset with Jen because if it wasn't for her he would never get work done, but she’s convinced him that everybody in Hollywood does a little facial maintenance, including his good friends, like Matt Damon,” the source says.

"Jonsie, close the gate." Paramount Pictures backlot is probably going to be sold

(Bloomberg) -- Sony Group Corp. plans to sell the historic Paramount Pictures lot in Los Angeles, featured in films such as Sunset Boulevard, if it succeeds in buying the studio’s parent company, according to people familiar with management’s thinking.

The consumer electronics giant already owns a large film and TV-production facility in nearby Culver City. Tokyo-based Sony is most interested in Paramount Global for its intellectual property, which includes movies like The Godfather and Top Gun: Maverick, said the people, who asked to not be identified because the discussions are private. It plans to keep Paramount Pictures as a label within Sony. Sony is partnering with Apollo Global Management Inc. on a proposed $26 billion purchase of Paramount Global, which also owns networks like CBS, MTV and Nickelodeon. The two submitted a nonbinding letter of interest last week and are negotiating access to Paramount’s books for a closer examination before making a definitive offer. The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Sony’s plans include selling Paramount’s TV stations and streaming service. Sony and Apollo declined to comment.

The pair are competing against a rival proposal from independent film and TV producer David Ellison. He’s offered to buy out the Redstone family, which owns a majority of Paramount’s voting stock, and merge his company, Skydance Media, into Paramount. A monthlong period of exclusive talks between Paramount board’s and Skydance expired last week. Ellison and his partners, which include investor RedBird Capital Partners, are mulling what to do next, according to a person familiar with their thinking. Their last offer included a $3 billion investment in Paramount to fund a cash payout to shareholders and bolster the balance sheet. They could also just walk away.

Real estate investors have chased Hollywood studio space in recent years amid a boom in film and TV production. The market has cooled considerably, however, as entertainment giants reduce spending amid ongoing losses in their streaming TV businesses. In 2021, Hackman Capital and Square Mile Capital Management acquired Kaufman Astoria Studios, the original New York home of Paramount Pictures, and the 55-acre CBS Studio Center in Los Angeles. The latter fetched $1.85 billion. At 65 acres, the Paramount space is bigger and also in a more central location. Paramount Pictures is the only major film studio headquartered in the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Having its lot turned into just another production space would be a “disaster” for the community, said Brian Curran, president of Hollywood Heritage, which operates a museum in the original building used by some of Paramount’s founders.

Hick School Board Votes to Restore Confederate Names Stripped from Schools Four Years Ago

The Virginia school district had previously renamed schools named after Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. But after a monthslong campaign by a group of citizens, the school board voted to rescind the name changes and restore the Confederate names. The second name change is estimated to cost more than $300k for signage and uniforms, and the school district insists that private donations will foot that bill.

The right-wing group that led a pressure campaign to revisit the issue keeps using words like "heritage" and "majority," which in this case are transparent dog-whistles for "white people." This group is also suspiciously well-funded and organized for a "grassroots neighborhood organization." Who knew there was such a push to re-rename two schools after Johnny Reb?

Meanwhile, the district is reportedly suffering from a backlog of maintenance issues, supply shortages, and low teacher pay. No word yet on when the school board might vote to address those issues.

I think Cybill Shephard has had more fictional characters based on her...

than any other actor. I could think of seven:

Cathy Lucas as Mavis Henscher in The Other Side of the Wind written a and directed by Orson Welles.

A spoof of Bogdanovich's then-girlfriend, actress Cybill Shepherd (who was present for at least some of the filming, and whose brother, Bill Shepherd, was part of the production crew filming in Arizona). A young actress, Henscher has difficulty balancing her acting career with the correspondence course her home state makes her take while working.

Cheryl Ladd as Pamela Verlaine in Permanent Midnight

"Sandra finds him a new job with a different series, No Such Luck, whose star Pamela Verlaine–herself a recovering addict–sternly but sympathetically insists that he kick his habit first. "

Sharon Stone as Blake Chandler in Irreconcilable Differences. (written and directed by Cybill's ex Peter Bogdanovich)-

When Albert sees a young woman named Blake Chandler working at a hot dog stand, he takes her home and casts her in his next film, which becomes a moderate success. When Lucy sees signs that Albert is interested in Blake for more than just acting, she divorces him, further troubling Casey. Albert ensures that Lucy gets custody of Casey, while he lives in a Hollywood mansion with Blake.

A turning point occurs when Lucy, angered both at Albert's procrastination in paying child support and at the sight of a sloppy, overweight woman in a supermarket buying the same comfort food as she is, hurries home and channels her anger into writing a tell-all novel. Meanwhile, Albert's producers are warning him not to attempt his musical remake of Gone with the Wind, which he is calling Atlanta, but Albert ignores their advice, and his budget for the picture skyrockets, mainly because of his own perfectionist attitude and Blake's mediocre singing voice, along with her diva-like behavior on set. Atlanta becomes an embarrassing box-office bomb, costing Albert any assignments in Hollywood and causing Blake to desert him.

Catherine O'Hara as Carol Ward on Six Feet Under. Carol was a neurotic actress that Lisa Kimmel (Lili Taylor) worked for. One of the writers had worked for Cybill Shephard as a nanny. Also creator Alan Ball has worked on her sitcom.

Annette Benning as Carolyn Bernham in American Beauty. Interview with Alan Ball- "...hating his job, you know, having to run Cybill. There's a lot of Cybill in Carolyn. There's a lot of me in Ricky, there's a lot of my dad in the Colonel, and there's a lot of my mom in the Colonel's wife...."

And of course, Cybill Shepherd as Cybill Sheridan on Cybill– Cybill is a middle aged actress who has had a varied, though mediocre career (which, even in her salad days, seems to have consisted primarily of television commercials, soap operas, and B-movies). She now finds that, due to her age, roles are becoming harder to find and that the quality of roles she is offered is diminishing. Her fortunes seem to vary over the course of the series. Sometimes, she has consistent work and appears to be relatively wealthy, other times, she scrambles to find and keep jobs, and seems to be struggling financially; this inconsistency the most successful actors tend to have their professional ups and downs, both financially and creatively.

What say you guys. She's really not that interesting of a person, but str8 dudes love having a piece like her on their arm.

Kevin Spacey Documentary Lands at Max, ID for U.S. Release

The Channel 4 doc, titled 'Spacey Unmasked,' will feature interviews with several men about their experiences with the actor.

Max and ID have acquired U.S. rights to a Channel 4 documentary about Kevin Spacey.

The two-part doc, titled Spacey Unmasked, is billed as a “forensic look” at Spacey’s career and the allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct against him. Spacey was acquitted in July 2023 of nine charges in a U.K. criminal case against him.

The documentary will also include interviews with “multiple men unconnected to that case about their experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of whom have never spoken before,” along with other previously unseen archival footage and interviews with the actor.

Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner, faced nine criminal charges from four different men in his U.K. trial, ranging from unwanted touching to, according to testimony from one man, performing oral sex on the man while he was asleep. The charges stemmed from alleged acts that occurred from 2001 to 2013; Spacey was artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004-15.

Spacey Unmasked is set to air on Channel 4 in the U.K. on May 6 and 7. Premiere dates for the U.S. and other territories haven’t been announced yet. Meghan Markle’s new podcast already hits snag — why it’s pushed back to 2025

Meghan Markle’s podcast has been “pushed back” until next year, according to reports.

Reportedly, Richard Eden, the editor for Mail Online, said that Archetypes would be published next year 'at the earliest' in collaboration with Lemonada Media. Eden wrote for the Daily Mail, "A source [who is based in California] tells me there is not expected to be any work broadcast this year.

The relaunch of Meghan's Archetypes podcast got pushed back to 2025." Additionally, Eden said that Lemonada did not want Meghan's upcoming (cooking and gardening) Netflix series, which is currently shooting, to 'overshadow' the podcast's debut.

Bravo Says Misconduct Claims Against Andy Cohen ‘Unsubstantiated’ After Investigation

Before NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York City next week, Bravo has announced that it’s renewing a slew of its shows: 15 in total. Among the renewals is its nightly talk show “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” putting to rest any speculation that the network is looking to cut ties with Cohen after his being named in a lawsuit against the company by former “Real Housewives of New York City” cast member Leah McSweeney. Brandi Glanville, formerly of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” had also made legal threats against Cohen.

Cohen, the face of the Bravo, and an executive producer of the “Real Housewives” franchise, will remain so. A spokesperson for Bravo told Variety: “The outside investigation into the recent allegations made by Brandi Glanville and Leah McSweeney against Andy Cohen has now been completed, and the claims were found to be unsubstantiated.”

Among Bravo’s other renewals is the hit freshman show “The Valley,” a spinoff of “Vanderpump Rules,” which premiered in March. And “Summer House,” currently airing Season 8 — revolving around the broken engagement of longtime castmates Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke, which the audience knows is coming — has also been renewed, especially since it’s “having its most-watched season in the show’s eight-year history,” according to the press release.

Also renewed — though many of these are foregone conclusions, since they’re either currently in production, are about to be, or recently completed filming — are: “Married to Medicine,” “Top Chef,” “Southern Charm,” “Southern Hospitality,” “Below Deck,” “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” “The Real Housewives of Miami,” “The Real Housewives of New York City,” “The Real Housewives of Potomac” and “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.”

Princess Grace of Monaco

Beauty, elegance, and not being Audrey Hepburn made her an international star.

Her screen career was short but legendary: High Noon, The Country Girl, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, The Swan, and High Society. Then, at the height of her career she became a literal princess when she married Rainer III, Prince of Monaco.

As Princess of Monaco, she focused on bringing ballet, opera, fashion, and horticulture to the People of Monaco. She was also the first female board member of 20th Century Fox, an author on both poetry and horticulture, and she sought to historically restore Newport, Rhode Island.

However, tragedy struck in 1982 when she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while driving and drove off a mountain at the age of 52.

Canada to imprison anyone who has EVER posted ‘hate speech’ online

The Trudeau regime has introduced an Orwellian new law called the Online Harms Bill C-63, which will give police the power to retroactively search the Internet for ‘hate speech’ violations and arrest offenders, even if the offence occurred before the law existed.

This new bill is aimed at safeguarding the masses from so-called “hate speech.”

Revolver.news reports: The real shocker in this bill is the alarming retroactive aspect. Essentially, whatever you’ve said in the past can now be weaponized against you by today’s draconian standards. Historian Dr. Muriel Blaive has weighed in on this draconian law, labeling it outright “mad.” She points out how it literally spits in the face of all Western legal traditions, especially the one about only being punished if you infringed on a law that was valid at the time of committing a crime.

Sky Ferreira—what went wrong?

She released her debut record, "Night Time, My Time" in 2013, which was a revamp from some of the label-appointed singles she'd done as a teenager. It was a great pop record with a dark edge to it; solid production and a lot of '80s influence. She had promise. As far as music goes, it's pretty much been crickets since. She has famously claimed that Capitol sabotaged her second record and wouldn't let her out of her contract, resulting in a "Free Sky Ferreira" fan campaign that recalled the Fiona Apple "Extraordinary Machine" debacle of 2005. Capitol officially dropped her a few months back, and she's recently been touring again. Frankly, I saw some photos of her last year that screamed "methadone" (or even "meth") and I've sort of come to to conclusion that, label control aside, she is probably a drug addict and has been her own worst enemy through all of this.

Mom in India throws 6 year old disabled son to the crocodiles

Police in India have arrested a couple after recovering the partially-eaten body of their 6-year-old son whose mother is accused of throwing him into a canal known for having crocodiles, according to multiple reports.

Savitri Kumar and her husband Ravi Kumar were arrested on murder charges in connection with the incident, which took place on Saturday night in the Indian state of Karnataka, local police say, according to The Hindustan Times, Outlook India, and The Times of India.

The boy, identified as Vinod, had a hearing and speech impediment, per Outlook India, The Times of India and CNN’s India-affiliate News 18.

His partially-eaten body was recovered from the jaws of a crocodile the following day, police said, according to The Hindustan Times and News 18.

On Saturday evening, following an altercation where Ravi allegedly blamed his wife for having a child with disabilities, Savitri allegedly threw 6-year-old Vinod into a canal which connects to a river known for its crocodiles, per police, The Times of India and The Hindustan Times reported.

Crazy article about how Apple sets fire to money out of desperation for Hollywood success

They lost around $240 million on Argylle. They would have lost less money if they simply sat on the film and never released it.

Apple does not release movies theatrically themselves, they use one of the big studios, who foots the P&A and then recoups it from first dollar grosses and also takes a distribution fee. Almost no money made in theaters made it back to Apple. Even the PVOD rights were signed away to Universal, who also managed to only take the hook for half of the P&A costs. And even Universal lost money on it.

These 50 cities have the highest STI rates in the US

While HIV transmission has eased somewhat, rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis have rocketed. Gay men are disproportionately impacted.

The worst place for STIs, perhaps surprisingly is Philadelphia. One in 65 residents were diagnosed with an infection in 2022 in the city of brotherly love.

This was followed by Memphis (TN), Jackson (MI) and New Orleans, LA. St. Louis (MO), rounded off the top five.

In terms of gay hotspots, San Francisco (CA) came in eighth place.

Schrader added of the potential biopic, “I would not use Kevin if he had been convicted. But he was not convicted.”

He also wants Spacey to play Sinatra.

‘Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes’- new documentary on La Liz premiering at Cannes Film Festival next week

“ ELIZABETH TAYLOR: THE LOST TAPES offers an unprecedented exploration into the life of Elizabeth Taylor, Hollywood’s quintessential star. With extraordinary access to Taylor’s personal archives and seventy hours of newly-unearthed intimate audio, these candid conversations peel back the layers of one of cinema’s most enduring icons, revealing a woman at odds with her public image, yearning for respect and agency. Foregoing traditional talking heads, the film allows Elizabeth’s own voice to narrate her story and challenges audiences to reconsider Taylor’s legacy, presenting her not just as a film icon but as a trailblazer who leveraged her stardom for humanitarian efforts, effecting real change in the world.”

They got their hands on her personal archive and found tons of unseen videos, photos and interviews, and they are using her own voice to narrate her own story through clips etc.

It will be available to the public on HBO and MAX starting August 3!

Below Deck Season 11 - Grenada

I'm really loving it.

Jared the Bosun is hilarious and weird. He seems stoned most of the time.

Fraser is being an absolute cunt this season. What crawled up his tight ass? And why does he keep calling himself "Mother?"

At first I didn't like Cat, but after hearing her story, I feel bad for her. I'm almost forced to like her.

Barbie is a feisty Latina firecracker.

Not sure what's the trip with Xandi, but she's just odd.

Sunny is cute. She and Ben would make a nice couple, if Ben didn't keep throwing her under the bus.

Kyle is cute too. His Irish accent makes him better looking than he actually is, though.

Speaking of Kyle and Ben, I am LOVING the shots in their cabin, where they keep exposing their bare asses to each other (and us)! On the show, Ben comes across as a total womanizer, but I swear, something about him is very gay. I especially loved the scene where he was rubbing lotion all over Kyle's back - all the way down to his exposed ass!

And the French Chef. He's tres gay, even though he is trying to pretend that he's straight.

I loved his hilarious story about how he got married at 26. Then his uncle offered his wife a job on a yacht as a Stewardess, and she never contacted him again. So he said now it's just him and his cat. Rofl!! Honey, your wife knows you're gay!

This season is very entertaining.

Disney and WBD to bundle Disney+/Hulu/Max, bringing us closer to recreating cable

Couple things that stick out to me

#1. Why?

#2. Is this a prelude to a new combined streaming-only company

#3. This could potentially be the solution for what would happen to WBD if WBD was going to divest itself of Warner Bros. studio, which Comcast wants. Comcast would only be able to buy some of WB due to antitrust issues. They only want WB for IP for the theme parks.

#4. So let’s say Disney spins off its streaming. The new company is then merged with the remains of WBD. Let’s call this, Cabyl Corp. Cabyl Corp has an app, Cabyl+, with an enormous amount of content. It includes HBO, Disney, CNN, and a couple of reality SILOs. At what price point do they sell this app? $30? $50? I churn constantly based on new shows. Am I going to pay $50 now if Cabyl+ has a hot new show? I’m just going to skip it altogether. Unless…

5. You cannot churn it. You have to pay for a yearly subscription upfront. $260 with ads or $320 ad-free. Cable has been reborn and the only way you can get Disney or HBO direct to consumer content is through an annual subscription.
