Morning Joe 2

(I didn't see a continuing link from the previous thread and the DL Search feature/engine is a waste of time)

I'm very glad that Morning Joe is featuring Chris Matthews more. Basically, they're bringing him out of obscurity. BUT, this morning, I noticed how thin Chris is. He is so thin that it made me wonder if he might be suffering from some sort of illness.

by Anonymousreply 396April 27, 2024 10:23 PM

Why not post on the MSNBC thread?

by Anonymousreply 1January 24, 2024 12:01 PM

I don't have a good answer for you R1, except that I joined the previous thread and the discussion there was exclusively about Morning Joe. That thread filled completely and as I was viewing the program this morning; I noticed Chris Matthews. I looked for a "Morning Joe" thread and there were none. So, I started this one. I didn't even think to post on an MSNBC thread

What is always up Lemire's ass? His constant negativity about Biden indicates how much of an ass he is.

by Anonymousreply 3January 24, 2024 1:06 PM

"As soon as he is the nominee..."

I HATE the disingenuous nature of this program.

Swing Left is a progressive political group with Hybrid PAC status in the United States that was created following the election of Donald Trump in 2016 with a goal of gaining a Democratic majority in United States legislatures. The group was founded by Ethan Todras-Whitehill, Miriam Stone, Josh Krafchin, Michelle Finocchi, and Matt Ewing to create ways for Democrats to volunteer in their nearest swing district. Its initial mission was to win a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives in 2018 by building a network of volunteers and donors in targeted swing districts across the U.S. Swing Left uses a margin of fifteen points to determine which seats are considered "swing seats", and then concentrates their efforts there. Swing Left cast a broader net in 2019, when they began putting effort toward maintaining a Democratic majority in United States State Legislatures after merging with another organization, Flippable. Swing Left focuses on training volunteers to register voters, phone bank, fundraise, and engage in door-to-door campaigning for Democratic candidates.

I have A LOT of respect for Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick. They lost A LOT of money in the Madoff Ponzi scam/scheme and yet they seem to have held no bitterness about it at all.

[quote]How much did Kevin Bacon lose in Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme? How much did Kevin Bacon lose in Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme? The 64-year-old actor has never detailed the exact figure, but various reports put it somewhere in the millions, maybe even as high as $30 million.Oct 11, 2022

Okay... while I like Karine Jean-Pierre, her makeup is a bit overdone this morning. Or, is it just the lighting?

by Anonymousreply 9January 29, 2024 1:14 PM

OP, Chris Matthews is 78 years old.

Most people start losing weight at that age.

Give him a fucking break.

by Anonymousreply 10January 29, 2024 1:17 PM

OH! And, Eugene Daniels has stepped up his game! He got his nails done. What color was that?

by Anonymousreply 11January 29, 2024 1:23 PM

LOL! How funny is Mika this morning as Joe rants and raves and all she can do is show expressions without saying any words. She is relegated to grunts and nods! LOL!!!

by Anonymousreply 12February 6, 2024 10:32 AM

Chris Matthews has two volumes...Loud and Louder.

by Anonymousreply 13February 6, 2024 10:41 AM

Enough of ancient plagiarist Mike Barnacle's pontificating.

by Anonymousreply 15February 14, 2024 12:28 PM

Back in his Boston Globe days, I recall a Barnicle column that had him encountering Jackie Onassis on Newbury Street late one evening and he escorted her to the Ritz Hotel where she was staying.

Barnicle claimed that the hotel’s front doors were locked and the two of them had to bang on them furiously in order for Jackie to enter.

I'm new to watching MJ (just started a few weeks ago). Do they repeat the 6 am - 8 am show between 8 - 10 am ? Is that why she brought out the Valentine's Gift again ?

by Anonymousreply 17February 14, 2024 12:44 PM

R17, Yes.

by Anonymousreply 23February 14, 2024 6:04 PM

Thanks everyone for the info. It gets confusing - so thanks.

by Anonymousreply 24February 14, 2024 6:05 PM

I like Joe but he is really being arrogant (more than normal) this morning as to how smart and wonderful he was in Congress. Stop with the bemoaning of Reagan era. It's done. This is when he sounds like a resident of Jurassic Park.

by Anonymousreply 25February 15, 2024 2:32 PM

And, R25, the Reagan Debt aka The Debt is what Joe says got him to run for congress. Notice he never blames his lover Ronnie for it.

Scarborough stopped bragging (he was perfect) about his time in congress a couple a years ago because viewers hated it. He started up again and hasn't stopped. John Heilemann was shocked when he learned it on the air.

by Anonymousreply 28February 21, 2024 12:00 PM

Imagine Joe Scarborough is a BEAST in bed.

by Anonymousreply 29February 23, 2024 8:16 AM

Why doesn't Lemire just go work at Fox? He is such an arrogant, anti Biden putz. He mugs in front of the camera in such a desperate need for fame. Too bad. I once thought he was a talented journalist.

by Anonymousreply 30February 27, 2024 2:30 PM

I was startled to see Barbara McQuaid with a full face of makeup! I did not like it. Either she had a terrible makeup person, she was not lit correctly, or I'm too accustomed to her scrubbed freckly face.

by Anonymousreply 31February 27, 2024 2:37 PM

I can't watch MJ. I'm glad Chris Matthews is being resurrected. I remember Chris has Diabetes, and had to miss his own show a few times due to illness, diabetes related. MJ himself I cannot stand. They used to have some great guests on, but Joe would talk over them, and go on these rants that lasted so long, he sucked up all the oxygen in the room and the guests r arely ever got to say much. And let's not forget Mika and Joe's love affair with Donald Trump in 2015-2016. Lemire and Heilemann are POS assholes who were really ugly towards Hillary and I have neither forgiven nor forgotten. Pontificating Mike Barnacle got on my nerves. Willie Geise was the only one I could tolerate. And remember when Joe would pick fights with some of his regular guests? Those were the days. You want to listen to really good news broadcasts turn on NPR in the morning. They do a great job. I will sometimes catch ABC or NBC, or CNN too. But no more MJ for me.

by Anonymousreply 32February 27, 2024 2:40 PM

R31 it’s an undisputed fact that MSNBC has the worst make-up artists in the business.

by Anonymousreply 34February 27, 2024 4:51 PM

R32, Chris Matthews said ON THE AIR that the only reason Hillary won a Senate seat was because her husband fooled around. Matthews is an obnoxious dinosaur who does not belong on TV.

by Anonymousreply 35February 27, 2024 5:20 PM

[quote] And let's not forget Mika and Joe's love affair with Donald Trump in 2015-2016.

That's right! NEVER FORGET!!!

But it wasn't only Joe and Mika. It was pretty much all of media. The problem (IMHO) is not the media as much but we as a people. We want to be entertained and like it or not, Trump is entertaining. The media is continuing to do the same thing now, IMHO. Every hour it's about what Trump is doing and yet no one seems to be able to challenge him and/or his people on the issues or whatever idiocy he spews. His communications people do not respond ti inquiries? If that's the case then REPORT IT!

by Anonymousreply 36February 27, 2024 6:15 PM

It sickens me that David Ignatious is allowed to sit on the MJ panel without being really questioned about the "hit" piece he wrote a few months ago basically stating that President Biden should get out of the race because he is old.

by Anonymousreply 37February 28, 2024 11:01 AM

They all wash each other's backs. It's disappointing, but not surprising.

Take some of the time you spend (rightly so) trashing trump and trash some of their fellow enablers.

Peter Baker from the NYT is a great example of cheap shot both siderism always at the expense of the Democrats. But there are many more in clear sight.

I'd love to see a roundtable of mea culpas, talking about what they did to enable, why they did it, and their part in the ascendance of trump.

by Anonymousreply 38February 28, 2024 1:04 PM

I'd clap Lemire's cheeks.

by Anonymousreply 39February 28, 2024 1:41 PM

R36 you're right in that all the media helped to normalize Trump. But I reserve a special place in Hell for Joe and Mika, who dined and partied with Donald at Mar A Lago, and whose morning phone calls with him were the highlight of their program several times a week. Then suddenly they did that 360 and pretend shock and outrage at his behavior and his politics.

by Anonymousreply 40February 28, 2024 1:54 PM

[quote][R36] you're right in that all the media helped to normalize Trump

Trump was never normal. These "journalists" and "news pundits" were starstruck by him and did not do their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 41February 28, 2024 2:07 PM

R4o, right after Trump was through with Joe and Mika, he went on to other shows like Today and Good Morning America. I listened to him because he was a funny lunatic. You must understand that Trump was considered a JOKE until he won the first primary. No one cared that they gave him a platform, including me, because he was such a jerk. It’s the stupid masses that bought it - not anyone’s fault, everyone’s fault.

by Anonymousreply 42February 28, 2024 3:40 PM

The media manipulates the viewing public all the time and is a key player in setting the political agenda. That's why every year corporations spend billions on advertising. The basic goal of advertising is to create a demand for a product Politically the media frames issues and promotes them. There is a huge difference between reporting a story, and covering it. . Current examples of agenda setting include the persistent highlighting of Biden's age/competency, Inflation, and the mass immigration at our southern borders. It is not what is covered. Certainly most of these things are news worthy. But it is HOW they a re covered. We became comfortable with Trump as a political candidate in 2015=2016. He was the cherry syrup covering up the bitter taste of Russian This was engineered by the Media who don't give a rat's ass for responsible journalism. They no longer see their role as a public service as they did back in the 50's and 60's. They are strictly about ratings and revenue and their reporting is often incomplete, lacking in context, and chasing that shiny object. A lot of the coverage of important news is just plain missing.

by Anonymousreply 43February 28, 2024 5:40 PM

Wanted to add that there have been many legitimate studies done on how constant exposure to something desensitizes us to the threat. Putin spent a lot of money a couple decades ago to parade around shirtless riding a horse. Virile handsome and non threatening.

Let's not forget that the media EVICERATED Hillary! While I was not a Hillary fan, I did vote for her because I knew what the alternative would be. Yes, Hillary and her team must take their accountability for her loss too, but they had a really tough uphill battle and wind against them because of the media.

We live in a post-truth America - and increasingly, even parts of Europe.

What to do what to do... listen to Joe? Heaven help us. But at this point, I'll taken anybody putting "our side" on the air - anybody.

by Anonymousreply 53February 29, 2024 9:47 AM

* I'll take anybody...

by Anonymousreply 54February 29, 2024 9:48 AM

I agree, R53.

But will someone help me? Isn't it a law in France that all political advertising must cease 48 hours prior to an election? I seem to remember hearing something like that when President Macron was first elected. I only bring this up because at least it acknowledges the issue of "dangerous" propaganda and it's something (even though it's minor) to try to rein in misinformation.

This is just another peeve of mine with the Democrat party. Why has no one fought to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine? I "get" it and agree that the majority of all legislation should be reviewed re effectiveness and results every 5-10 years, but did anyone every ask why was the Fairness Doctrine implemented in the first place and therefore after evaluation of it is it still needed?

by Anonymousreply 55February 29, 2024 10:56 AM

I'm so tired of Mika pushing the women's summit next week and 'Know Your Value'. I'm sure it's a cash cow for her but it's just tiresome at this point.

by Anonymousreply 56February 29, 2024 1:50 PM

It was the Republicans under Reagan who abolished the fairness doctrine, so why is it the Democrats you're peeved with, R55?

by Anonymousreply 57February 29, 2024 4:02 PM

I fully understand that, R57... Thank you. I'm peeved at Democrats because when I see something that was good (and still needed) legislation, then shouldn't Democrats (if they are protecting Democracy and are for the people, as they say) reintroduce some type of legislation as such even if they know it may not go through? I guess I'm about taking the offensive and fighting to take control of the narrative. You see (at least I do) that Republicans seem to never let go of an issue that they are pushing for. Other things that I'm peeved with Democrats about? Police and prison reform, tuition free education for those attending junior colleges, voting rights, and maybe a few more. Now, will the lack of disinterest (for a lack of a better word) dissuade me from voting Democratic? Not at this time because when I still do my "pro and con" listing Democrats are still winning. However, that does not mean I'm still all hunky-dory with them either. I want to see elected Democrats fight for issues as if their lives were dependent upon the passing and being implemented--even when they don't.

by Anonymousreply 58February 29, 2024 4:21 PM

R58, right now it's not a priority. The Debt Ceiling is, Voting Rights is, Gun Safety is, and various Environmental issues are. There is a very extensive menu of issues that need adadressing, and IMO the fairness doctrine, and the FCC in general needs to be overhauled and reformed. I agree with you. I believe a lot of the problems we are experiencing politically in this country, as well associally, are because of policies Reagan enacted back in the 80's with this being one of the more important ones.

by Anonymousreply 59February 29, 2024 8:19 PM

I 100% agree with you, R59! But what is that proverbial sayig? " I can walk and chew gum at the same time", I believe? I want to see the elected Democrats fight back much harder. stronger, and with a core principle(s), than what I've been seeing.

by Anonymousreply 60February 29, 2024 11:39 PM

R60 we're in a position right now that everything costs. Everything is a negotiation. And until we get our secure majorities in BOTH houses of Congress, we have to prioritize.

by Anonymousreply 61March 1, 2024 12:04 AM

Mmph, MJ panel rants about the news coverage of President Biden vs Trump re health, etc. Yet, they allow David Ignacious on the show every other day without pushing him to justify his piece calling for Biden to drop out of the running...

by Anonymousreply 62March 5, 2024 11:14 AM

R62, Because they, and most people, know that David Ignatius was 100% correct.

by Anonymousreply 63March 5, 2024 11:40 AM

[quote] all the media helped to normalize Trump

Not "normalize". The media's orders were to build Trump up as the republican leader since after all he would be the easiest to beat opponent for Hillary. By the time Joe, Mika, and their colleagues reversed course it was too late.

An historic own-goal.

Trump's solo domination of the AM news shows (TV and radio) for months on end in 2015-2016 is only one person's fault: Hillary Clinton's. Every one of those programs would have LOVED to feature her too, daily, had she been willing to call up and chat extemporaneously like Trump. But she was too scripted, filtered and cautious for that, and it cost her campaign big-time.

by Anonymousreply 65March 5, 2024 12:21 PM

^ Howard Stern

by Anonymousreply 66March 5, 2024 12:25 PM

I don't know about that, R66. I pretty much agree with R65 BECAUSE Hillary and her team were "hostile" towards the press. However, she had A LOT of journalists (for example Andrea Mitchell) who were reporting as if they were out to get her on something... anything, and so why would she want to be subjected to that? The interviews and press that she did do just came across as combative to me. The media did allow Trump to skate through for the longest of time.

by Anonymousreply 67March 5, 2024 12:46 PM

I don't trust generalizations. Not all the Dems consciously elevated him. Many in party leadership positions locally and nationally remember too well when that was tried duing the run up to the 1980 election. Some touted a "strategy" of elevating Reagan over Bush, believing Bush would be more difficult to beat. So I don't think the sentiment was widespread in 2016. They may have said that, but if they did they were whistling past the graveyard. Everyone knows what happened to John Kerry. Everyone knew in 2016, that the media and the messaging machine of the GOP could take a piece of shit and make it PResident. ...and they did.

by Anonymousreply 68March 5, 2024 12:55 PM

And, the hits keep HITTING!

My issue with this... Okay, for me, it's no longer about Trump (and it hasn't been for me for quite some time) but it's about all of the enablers. This guy could not have revealed this the first time around?

Robby Mook was a poor choice for Hillary’s campaign manager in 2016. Reportedly, they were no longer speaking in the final weeks of the campaign.

Tim Kaine was a poor choice for Hillary’s running mate in 2016. He brought nothing to the table other than the fact that he could speak Spanish.

All this revisionism and blaming and the fact is, Hillary won the popular vote, by a margin of nearly 3 million. This was not Bush v. Gore. Late evening of election night 77, 744 votes began shifting in three states. The election was stolen. It has been proven, not theory, but FACTS that Russia sent a team over hear to see exactly how our elections were processed in 2014. They visited individual states. In 2017-2018 it was confirmed that with t he 2016 election, the ability to hack into the voting machines to change votes was confirmed. Of course we also heard that there was "no evidence to support the fact that any votes were changed." Well, of course there was no evidence! But is there anyone who believes that you can get into the machines, but you won't change the votes?

John Lewis, and Jimmy Carter both said publicly, that Donald Trump was illegitimate and Carter went further to say that the Russians stole the election for Trump. Carter made this statement on National TV, in 2019. Remember that number: 77,744 votes. Stealing is easy if done right. You shift a few votes precinct by precinct until you get enough to get the desired outcome. And Republicans were stealing votes long before Trump. Remember how upset Karl Rove was when he realized Obama got re-elected in 2012? On live TV. He was pissed off when Fox called it. That's why Trump was so pissed off in 2020. He was sure they could pull off another electoral college "win." (He's never won a popular vote.) When he said the election was stolen he was projecting, as he always does.

by Anonymousreply 73March 5, 2024 1:57 PM

R73, Presidents are not elected by the popular vote and never have been.

Trump’s team knew how to play the electoral college game, Hillary’s team did not.

Exactly, R75. But also remember the context. The Iranian hostage crisis. and since Iran has been a "client" of the Russians for decades, it is safe to assume the Russians had a role in manipulating that election. Their hatred of Jimmy Carter was visceral. They truly deeply wanted him gone. And the Reagan with his theatrical "tear down this wall" bullshit in Berlin, and the whole Glastnost thing. Once the Soviet Union was dissolved, and the utilities were privatized the Deputy Mayor of Moscow was ready to move in to the Kremlin riding on Yeltsin's back. I have to wonder how many American "moguls" enriched themselves back in those early days of the "new" Russia, by skillful collaborations.

by Anonymousreply 82March 5, 2024 6:56 PM

“Our politics are not some mere game match!“

Unfortunately, they now are.

by Anonymousreply 94March 13, 2024 2:02 PM

R93 you just summarized everything wrong with how the media covers politics.

by Anonymousreply 95March 13, 2024 2:36 PM

Why does MJ continue to have Chuck Rosenberg on as a legal expert? He always comes across as right wing and makes dings at Democrats whenever he can. Claire git a little feisty with him (you go Claire).

by Anonymousreply 96March 13, 2024 2:43 PM

^I don't get that impression, R96. However, this morning he was rather defensive about that Hur guy. He said that he knew him. Maybe they are friends? Anyway, I find Rosenberg generally objective and impartial.

by Anonymousreply 97March 13, 2024 2:47 PM

Mika is such a frantic control freak any time Joe is out. I wonder if the guests also dread when they show up and discover smarmy Ms. Know-Your-Value is at the helm.

Define friends? Do they hang out on the couch Saturday nights Netflixing?

WOW! That Lisa Rubin has a FAT ass!!! She's up there with Symone Simmons!

Okay... I readily admit that I am shallow...

by Anonymousreply 100March 14, 2024 10:07 AM

Lisa Rubin annoys me. I’ve bitched about her before but it seems like they’ve put her on even more since then. Clearly, no MSNBC exec is reading DL.

Let me just refine my criticism to this: Lisa Rubin is equal parts Tracy Flick and Cheryl.

by Anonymousreply 101March 14, 2024 11:17 AM

[quote] Mika talked about her 3 day Rich Woman Summitt in Abu Dhabi on woman's issues. How much is a hotel room for three days in Abu Dhabi and then air fare?

I don’t know about that, but I was curious and checked out that summit. Registration cost $10,000!

How dare MSNBC execs living in their blind narrow bubble overlook the home of the intellectual resistance.

I've been quite surprised a few times by those who read the DL and then out of left field post a comment.

Does anyone have an idea about how much more money (if any) Mika, Joe, and Willie, are making given the extra MJ hours and weekend edition? Isn't this what the writers and actors were striking about? The constant use, reuse, and overuse, of their work and images?

by Anonymousreply 108March 16, 2024 10:56 AM

Lemire needs to switch to decaf. He is always hyped up.

by Anonymousreply 109March 21, 2024 2:54 PM

Look, once before Lemire, they tried The Freak (Yasmin Vossoughian) as Way Too Early host. It didn't go well.

by Anonymousreply 110March 21, 2024 6:33 PM

It's their tech support that is working overtime.

Each 3rd hour of MJ is a recut of the immediate preceding two hours.

The weekend roundups are further cuts already in the can.

The MJ digital video editors are the real stars of the show. Their MICRO edits are amazing and can flatten out a full rage rant into a courtroom presentation from Hour 1 to Hour 3.

by Anonymousreply 111March 21, 2024 6:57 PM

[quote]Look, once before Lemire, they tried The Freak (Yasmin Vossoughian) as Way Too Early host. It didn't go well.

by Anonymousreply 119March 23, 2024 8:18 AM

Mmph! Now, I don't know how I feel about that one, R118. What was the thought process of NBC on that one. What does Ronna bring to the table? I suppose I would be interested in listening to an objective conversation between her and Michael Steele but anything more I don't see her value. Why doesn't NBC just hire Ted Cruz for goodness' sake?

by Anonymousreply 120March 23, 2024 11:14 AM

Maybe Ronna will be ratting out the imbeciles on the Right, but I doubt it.

by Anonymousreply 121March 23, 2024 11:31 AM

[quote] What was the thought process of NBC on that one. What does Ronna bring to the table?

Seems plain enough. She was brought down by Trump allies, unfairly I thought, and fair or not with Trump's standard unnecessary nastiness. We can reasonably expect she will spend the time until the election as just one more MSNBC talking head doing nothing besides crying about Trump and those who sided with him.

by Anonymousreply 122March 23, 2024 11:38 AM

Thanks for giving me a bit of insight, R122 because I just am not seeing it. I have to admit (and only entertainment purposes) that I would like to see a debate/conversation between Ronna and Symone Sanders-(whatever her married name is) and then... a cat fight between Ronna and Joy Reid! Now, that would be GOOD television! Ahem... excuse me for debasing our politics to entertainment--our politics deserve, and should be respected more but... I can be shallow at times.

by Anonymousreply 123March 23, 2024 11:51 AM

I love starting my day with MJ on my DVR. I also try to see the first couple blocks of DWH in the afternoon live. I can appreciate Joe’s and Nicolle’s politics and opinions because even when I disagree with them, they are principled, well meaning patriots.

This moon-faced sow (title of a diff thread) actively sowed division and distrust of an election, sycophantically dropped one of her names, and actually accused her new network of spreading propaganda.

I will no longer be watching MSNBC or NBCNews.

by Anonymousreply 124March 23, 2024 3:22 PM

^M A R Y !!!

by Anonymousreply 125March 23, 2024 3:50 PM

And a PROUD one at that! This should not stand.

As much as I’d like to see This Moon Faced Sow atone for everything she has said and enabled, whether it’s in the studio vs. Michael Steele, or via camera against Claire M., or trying to snatch Joy’s wig before Joy wallops her, TMFS should not be paid for it. It should all be retribution.

CUNT!

by Anonymousreply 135March 25, 2024 1:53 PM

R135 I've noted for years that Kennedy women don't stand a chance. Even with the awesomely attractive Bouvier genes to give them a boost, the contrast between John F. And that her husband is trying to get the Democratic nomination for Congressional District 01 on Long Island? Her husband used to work for Giuliani and he’s running from his summer home in Sag Harbor. Sounds sweet except District 01 is HEAVILY white working class MAGATs. The Hamptons is a tiny blip compared to the hundreds of thousands of suburban homes owned by state, local and federal workers who get paid by tax money but keep voting to cut taxes.

This is why someone like George Santos won. I swear Jay Jacobs, the DNC guy who picks these candidates, is working for the other side. The candidate he picked to run against Santos (Zimmerman) was awful. He also picked terrible candidates to run against Lee Zeldin.

Now, Al (Rev Al Sharpton) said something which I agree with him about was a missed opportunity. Hopefully, there will be another such opportunity...

It was indeed a GREAT event that happened at Radio City Music Hall with a TON of money being raised! But, what if President Biden hosted the very next day a morning coffee and breakfast at some large church in Harlem or just some venue for free or at $20/head? I agree with Al that this would have connected and endeared the President more to the everyday American. For some reason, blue collar workers love Trump and yet he can't stand them. However, such a breakfast would have been something that I feel that even President Biden would have genuinely enjoyed.

by Anonymousreply 159April 2, 2024 6:14 PM

Rev. Al was right. And I believe if Joe had the stamina he might have considered that. Nothing stopping Obama from doing it, or Clinton who opened the very first PResidential office in Harlem after he left in 2001.

by Anonymousreply 162April 3, 2024 1:26 PM

Ya know.... I thought it was me, R162. I was taken aback when I heard her say something like "I'm sick of hearing how bad Biden feels when he can do something about it..." I still have to consider if it is "me" but I simply don't recall many of these folks using such harsh tones when referring to Trump and/or other Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 163April 3, 2024 1:31 PM

The Democrats should not miss any opportunity to go after Congress. They have to take it to them. Hillary was on Jimmy Fallon to promote a play she is producing about the Suffragettes and the Right to Vote. He asked her about people who were "worried" and she said, Hey, tell them to get over it! You got one guy who is old, but he is effective, and he cares about people's lives and he is working hard to make them better. And on the other side you have a guy who is old who has 91 felony counts against him. It's not hard!"

Someone is going to have to take care of Bibi. He needs to not be there....if you get my drift. Problem is that he has some very crazy, very aggressive military leaders who are definitely into total annihilation of Palestine. His generals knew months ahead of time the attack was coming, and did nothing. Almost like they were waiting for an excuse. But WTF do they think will happen to Israel if they successfully destroy Palestine? Toast.

by Anonymousreply 169April 4, 2024 3:12 PM

[quote] I wanted Willie to knock the son of a bitch off his chair.

I actually thought that would happen as Nir Barkat was flippant and gave a rather dismissive reply about the food volunteers who were killed by the Israeli fire. Basically... "No one says anything about the many Israeli soldiers who have been killed by friendly fire."

What I think is interesting too is that MSNBC has yet to upload this REALLY contentious exchange on YouTube.

by Anonymousreply 170April 4, 2024 5:03 PM

And Bibi sort of took responsbility but the main thing I remember is him saying "These these happen in war so oh well..."

by Anonymousreply 171April 4, 2024 5:07 PM

Nir Barkat was echoing 70 years of American Pro-Israeli foreign policy of DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO EXIST.

Iran has found the chink in the foreign policy armor, and Israel cannot field a traditional war.

Just like Hamas bombed its own hospital, I wonder if Hamas got on the airwaves and started fake communications with the World Kitchen convoy and told them where to deliver THE BOMBS. Israel needs to set up transfer points for HUMANITARIAN AID.

But I guess that Joe went off the Xanax as soon as he went on, as the "Merrick Garland" Joe was shit canned and the "Sally Yates" Joe showed up.

All this shit right now, I put it on two people:First and foremost, BIbi Netanyahu. Rotten fucking monster. And Vladimir Putin who took full advantage of Bibi being Bibi. Putin thought to distract us and drain the availability of weapons to Ukraine by paying his disruptors to stage attacks. What ever Hamas was planning, and they're always planning, Putin amplified it. He has Iran and Lebanon, and Syria in his pocket and active cells in Yemen. The thing to always remember about Putin is that he is very "flexible." He hates the Jews. But he has Bibi in his pocket because he helped him get back into office. He hates Muslims, but he has been working with Lebanon, Iran and Syria and has become very close to the Saudis. He took full advantage of the shit going on in the Middle East and fostered the Arab Spring. That is the absolute signature of Russia: that they take something that already exists and they nurture it and use it to disrupt, exploit, divide, weaken,etc.etc.etc. And look at what they have achieved in America. Ukraine 's support has dried up. Thank you GOP.

by Anonymousreply 193April 10, 2024 12:42 PM

There are no real undecideds. You have a higher percentage of people who are dug in and determined, and you have people who are going to vote for Trump but are too ashamed to admit it. It reminds me of the Tom Bradley Effect but I sincerely hope it's not the same result. Tom Bradley was the first Black mayor of Los Angeles. At that time the Mayor of L.A. didn't have any real power. The council had it. And the County had it. But he was celebrated and show cased and everyone loved Tom Bradley. White people especially. He was wildly popular. He had a nice smile, he was pleasant, and he made no real waves. Now, Bradley was no light weight. He was a former athlete, and a former L.A> cop, and he was a lawyer. He graduated from UCLA. So he had all the right credentials. And he was a liberal Democrat. Then he decided to run for governor. It was going to be a close race. According to the polls, he was supposed to win. But he didn't. A lot of the people who said they'd vote for him didn't vote for him/. They lied. They were too ashamed to admit they were racist. Ever since then, it has been referred to in political history, as "The Bradley Effect."

by Anonymousreply 194April 10, 2024 1:55 PM

Vanderhei is absolutely correct. The "movement" is more than Trump. If Trump were to die tomorrow, the MAGAts would not suddenly become moderates.

by Anonymousreply 195April 10, 2024 4:03 PM

MAGAs were never politically involved UNTIL Trump. Without him, they'll eventually go back to not voting at all.

by Anonymousreply 196April 10, 2024 4:17 PM

R196 not if you use Trump to give them an ideology worth supporting. They know he is a racist. They know he supports no taxes. They know he is anti NATO and a supporter of Putin and they're even using Russian talking points openly in Congress. I agree that many will crawl back under their rocks. But others will not, because this is Neo Fascism.

by Anonymousreply 197April 10, 2024 6:44 PM

R197, you mean the lost cause was not lost and that the racist south can rise again?

Secession as States Rights?

"While the voters expressed clear dissatisfaction with how President Joe Biden was handling the economy, the same voters were also very vocal about former President Donald Trump’s leadership abilities — or really, his social media habits."

[quote]MAGAs were never politically involved UNTIL Trump. Without him, they'll eventually go back to not voting at all.

100% disagree. Before MAGA there was the Tea Party

Before the Tea Party there was Lee Atwater and the Southern Strategy

Before Atwater and the Southern Strategy there was Jim Crow (the good ole days!)

Before Jim Crow there was the Ku Klux Klan

Before the Ku Klux Klan there was slavery (heaven on earth... for many)

by Anonymousreply 200April 10, 2024 9:27 PM

MAGAS are not the Tea Party or Lee Atwater. To continue without Trump, they'll have to become something else.

^They have. They call themselves white nationalists

by Anonymousreply 202April 10, 2024 9:56 PM

Another issue I had with this focus group segment is that it was led by Mark Halperin. Mark Halperin? Really? Serial sexual assaulter; Pro-Trump bias; on and on... just a nasty stuck-up, snobbish, feeling entitled white man! The "know your value' gal didn't have an issue here? No one on and/or off set had an issue with Halperin's credibility?

by Anonymousreply 203April 10, 2024 10:03 PM

R6, while the WSJ’s editorial page is right wing, its news side is highly regarded.

Oh, hell. Mark Halperin? Thank you R203. He has no credibility.

Mark Halperin was a longtime collaborator of John Heilemann.

by Anonymousreply 207April 10, 2024 10:21 PM

No, R207, but Heilemann obviously thought he had credibility before he got cancelled. Did Louis CK become retroactively unfunny?

I think your anger is misdirected, R212, especially as it pertains to Heilemann. Trump would never have been president but for Jill Stein & her misbegotten supporters. Eight years later, I have yet to hear a Stein voter take any accountability.

I know he's old (and there is nothing wrong with getting old. May we all have very long life) but Chris Matthews looks awful. It looks as if he is suffering from some sort of cancer.

Doesn’t that Erica Jong crotch fruit realize how ridiculous she looks?

by Anonymousreply 217April 11, 2024 11:29 AM

Chris Matthews has Type 1 Diabetes. I remember times when he had to miss his own show for a week or two because of health issues connected to Diabetes. I also think he may well have some kind of kidney disease or cancer. He's got to be close to 80?

by Anonymousreply 218April 11, 2024 4:12 PM

He's 78, R218. Great guess! I know he was controversial... sexist remarks, etc... I like him and has always liked him, but I guess the pressures of a nightly show can send most people into "lala" land. I don't know... I've just always thought that his long experience and his sense of what is the "right" and "fair" thing to do (re politics) was engaging for me. Or, maybe... it was his love and genuine fascination with President Obama that drew me to him. Sorry to learn of his illness and that's probably what is contributing to (at some times) look of frailty.

by Anonymousreply 219April 11, 2024 4:37 PM

I always liked Chris, but my favorite uncle, now long dead, refused to believe Chris was a Democrat because he thought he was too hard on Clinton in the Lewinsky matter.

by Anonymousreply 220April 11, 2024 5:04 PM

Clinton was hard on Lewinsky. I know.

by Anonymousreply 221April 11, 2024 5:14 PM

Well R220, Matthews himself, has said that he is much more conservative than people think he is. Also, I believe he had/has a brother who is Republican

by Anonymousreply 222April 11, 2024 5:17 PM

Back in the day Matthews would fill in on the Rush Limbaugh Show when Rush would take a day off to play golf with Gerald Ford or Lee Iacocca.

by Anonymousreply 223April 11, 2024 5:44 PM

MAtthews represents a perspective often overlooked in Democratic Party politics. He romanticized it to some extent, but it was the blue collar, union worker who embraced the Democratic Party as the "working man's party." for so long. Now a lot of Dems deserted the party after LBJ signed the Voting Rights bill and the Civil Rights bills. But the real exodus happened when ROnald Reagan ran for POTUS. The phenomenon of the so called Reagan Democrat emerged in political conversations. I may be mistaken but Chris was very taken with Reagan as "the great communicator." I often enjoyed him for his passion and enthusiasm about politics, even though I didn't agree with his take on things at times.

by Anonymousreply 224April 11, 2024 5:51 PM

R224 here, I will also remind folks that Chris worked briefly for Jimmy Carter as a speech writer I think. And he also worked for Tip O Neill. He started out as a security guard working at the Capitol in D.C. I wonder what he had to say about the insurrection. For those of us who worked for a member of Congress and had reasons to be familiar with that building it was wrenching. I was watching it in real time and filled with anger and crying at the same time. I have never felt such a sense of outrage as I did that day.

by Anonymousreply 231April 15, 2024 12:15 PM

R229, I believe that Mika is the ACTIONARY one. Mika tells us why we are here, what we can do.

Joe is the REACTIONARY one. He criticizes and does analysis on what just happened and where do we go next.

It is a brilliant formula that renders one or the other unnecessary on occasion.

IMHO, this one is a hard one to call. Yep, it's definitely a VERY historic event! But what is really going to happen? It's voir dire (which is usually boring) and unless Trump does something unusual (which is very likely) it is a boring procedure. Yep... I'm entertained driven...

by Anonymousreply 235April 15, 2024 12:31 PM

Well!

Trump gave the media what they wanted. He made a statement.

Now, can we go back to regular programming?

by Anonymousreply 236April 15, 2024 1:32 PM

I can't stand David Ignatius.

He's an Establishment Phony. (I know, I know, why single him out?)

He wrote a disingenuous mea culpa in the WaPo about his attending Mike Pompeo's (Trump's Secretary of State') monthly salons.

There, the DC Swells could belly up to the trough of expensive food and liquor, all footed by the American taxpayer. He claimed he didn't realize Pompeo was using those salons to gauge interest in a possible presidential run.

by Anonymousreply 237April 15, 2024 10:15 PM

[quote]I can't stand David Ignatius.

Mmph... Ya see there? You have stepped on my toes.

You see? This is why this is RIGGED! Ignatius has NOT been properly GRILLED (IMHO) about that 100% hit piece and how he justifies it now given current circumstances and those even before. Joe & Mika have let him skate time after time. It's the same with this Mark Halperin. No one had a problem with that?

by Anonymousreply 238April 15, 2024 10:22 PM

I like Ignatius. His and the Times’s Tom Friedman are the two foreign policy voices in the media I first turn to.

by Anonymousreply 239April 15, 2024 10:24 PM

Okay, R239. You explain that Ignatius hit piece and what alternatives he was offering and/or solutions. It's one thing to complain but it is quite another to propose solutions and/or alternatives

by Anonymousreply 240April 15, 2024 10:26 PM

R232, Mika is a newsreader trying desperately to be something more important. She's improved, but she still stinks. Like an imposter.

by Anonymousreply 241April 15, 2024 10:29 PM

Spot on, R241. She is extremely afraid of not being heard. Watch how she almost panics when Joe and the boys start enjoying some sports memory and talk only to each other.

But it really pisses me off when I hear Ms “Know Your Value” Mika Brzezinski say it. The same Mika Brzezinski who had an affair with her boss while she was married to the father of her children.

She claims to be such a champion for women. Bullshit. She’s a hypocrite.

by Anonymousreply 253April 16, 2024 1:31 PM

Well, that was an insensitive thing that Mika did to David Frum... and probably just for ratings. She could not have said those things to him in private? Rather she surprises him with her comments on live TV and has the nerve to offer an apology for doing so?

by Anonymousreply 316April 18, 2024 3:50 PM

Harry Truman, in DC for JFK’s Inauguration, was the first guest JFK had to the WH family quarters the morning after.

JFK and Jackie slept in the Lincoln Bedroom until their bedrooms were finished being painted and JFK ushered Truman into the Lincoln Bedroom where Jackie was still in a negligée.

On the Schlesinger audio recordings, Jackie said Truman turned beet red and was embarrassed as hell to see a woman other than Bess in her nightclothes.

by Anonymousreply 317April 18, 2024 4:00 PM

What's up with Jeremy Peter's hair this morning? He looks as if he just rolled out of bed.

by Anonymousreply 318April 19, 2024 10:59 AM

He’s trying out the Kitty Carlisle look, R318.

by Anonymousreply 319April 19, 2024 11:35 AM

[quote][R289], Yasmin Vossoughian is so grotesque and unwatchable - not to mention she can't read fucking copy or ask a coherent question - that I'm surprised MSNBC hasn't terminated her for life.

Well, she earned herself at least another year at MSNBC after today's reporting!

by Anonymousreply 320April 19, 2024 11:10 PM

R318 . . .

Not if people had to look at her, R320

by Anonymousreply 322April 19, 2024 11:34 PM

Yasmin>Chris Jansing/Katy Tur

by Anonymousreply 323April 19, 2024 11:36 PM

^ Yasmin, stop posting here

by Anonymousreply 324April 20, 2024 5:40 PM

If it's Wednesday, it's Joe's day off.

by Anonymousreply 325April 24, 2024 10:24 AM

Mika sure loves saying “Pecker” this morning.

by Anonymousreply 326April 24, 2024 11:16 AM

Mika said, "Willie, I had the news on all day and if I heard the word 'Pecker' on more time, I thought I was gonna lose my mind. But he was the lead story. PECKER!"

To which Wilie later remarked, "I think you're enjoying saying his name. I'm picking up on a theme this morning."

by Anonymousreply 327April 24, 2024 11:24 AM

It is because Mika loves pecker?

by Anonymousreply 328April 24, 2024 1:21 PM

Symone used the phrase the Pecker on the stand...

by Anonymousreply 329April 24, 2024 1:22 PM

More like she hates it, R328

by Anonymousreply 330April 24, 2024 1:52 PM

So is somebody going to do the lame

r330 = Joe

cliché?

by Anonymousreply 331April 24, 2024 2:17 PM

Symone Sanders is a huge reason not to watch. Aside from the fact that I detest Joe and Mika.

by Anonymousreply 332April 24, 2024 3:54 PM

Obviously Mika loves Joe’s Pecker.

The real question is Does Joe love Mika’s Mussy?

by Anonymousreply 333April 24, 2024 4:18 PM

Symone forgot her eyelashes this morning.

by Anonymousreply 334April 24, 2024 4:22 PM

Her eyelashes fell off, crawled across the table and jumped into Mika's coffee cup, much to Mika's despair. Mika screeched, and Symone called her a racist.

by Anonymousreply 335April 24, 2024 4:47 PM

Symone has good points now and then, I like her. She's just not your typical TV news host.

by Anonymousreply 336April 24, 2024 7:26 PM

Awesome R335

by Anonymousreply 337April 24, 2024 7:27 PM

Symone loves that Glitter Eyeshadow.

by Anonymousreply 338April 24, 2024 11:06 PM

Symone needs breast reduction surgery.

by Anonymousreply 339April 25, 2024 7:00 AM

r339, is Symone a Slitheen?

by Anonymousreply 340April 25, 2024 10:45 AM

Now we have entered the Palestinian/Israeli people support of the Israeli war against Hamas.

Opened a tb foe ATK on Pluto, this MSNBC block will last until x:45am.

by Anonymousreply 341April 25, 2024 11:36 AM

oops, they went out at x:35.

ATK is testing kitchen breast. The Kosher bird is more flavorful because of the Koshering salt.

by Anonymousreply 342April 25, 2024 11:42 AM

But a Double Palestinian Block. Yuck.

by Anonymousreply 343April 25, 2024 11:43 AM

X:47 final block, Supreme Court, before the MJ Third Hour reboot from Hour 1: 8am ET, 5am PT.

by Anonymousreply 344April 25, 2024 11:53 AM

Searing shrimp with a little sugar on ATK.

by Anonymousreply 345April 25, 2024 11:54 AM

Joe is on his 8am nap, Mika doing the bridge before the HUGE commercial break before the 6am replay.

by Anonymousreply 346April 25, 2024 12:01 PM

8am, reboot opens with a brutal Biden takedown of Trump by Kimmel and Biden.

The WHCD is going to be brutal if Biden is testing his material this early.

by Anonymousreply 347April 25, 2024 12:04 PM

[post redacted because independent.co.uk thinks that links to their ridiculous rag are a bad thing. Somebody might want to tell them how the internet works. Or not. We don't really care. They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]

Another ATK Chicken Show on Pluto.

The MJ reboot usually lasts until the first hour C/3rd block. 40-45 mins.

ATH testing chicken for final 160°F.

by Anonymousreply 349April 25, 2024 12:11 PM

Joe Biden is starting to look like Melania's twin brother. I'm still voting for him, but it had to be said.

by Anonymousreply 350April 25, 2024 12:15 PM

Joe is blathering about why the AZ indictments took so long. In a state with a Republican Governor and a Republican AG?

Pull your pants up, Joe, It took the election of a DEMOCRATIC ATTORNEY GENERAL in January 2023 to move this indictment.

by Anonymousreply 351April 25, 2024 12:15 PM

PAUSE

by Anonymousreply 352April 25, 2024 12:17 PM

ATK has move on to Classic Mac and Cheese. YUM! B Block for next 15 mins.

by Anonymousreply 353April 25, 2024 12:20 PM

It seems that MJ has moved on from Axios and is now firmly with Politico.

Politico has the lock on Supreme Court corruption. Good move, Rashida.

by Anonymousreply 354April 25, 2024 12:24 PM

Is there a reason why we’re doing minute-by-minute commentary today?

by Anonymousreply 355April 25, 2024 12:25 PM

Do all the talking heads—Weissman, Vance, McCaskill, etc.—get paid per appearance, or do they have a blanket contract?

by Anonymousreply 356April 25, 2024 12:31 PM

I've come to the conclusion that MJ has never been live stream commented on. We have commenting for SNL, that sad unfunny show, live, and i thought that Rashida might like to see where viewers go during the third hour repeat. ATK has moved to Pan Roasted and Flambéed LOBSTER, YUM!

Also, people may not know, but the third hour reboot is CENSORED from all the nasty words that send Mika and Standards and Practices at NBC into Butt-hole sphincter clenches.

by Anonymousreply 357April 25, 2024 12:37 PM

Joe and Mika are back at the first hour excoriation by President Biden of the Trump killed Border Bill.

Lobster with TA-MAH-LEE sauce!

by Anonymousreply 358April 25, 2024 12:40 PM

Mika's other brother is rather comely, in a British Poet way, explaining the Russian economy and how Putin is fucked.

The reason they replay hour one, every day is because it is the foundation of the broadcast and people on the East Coast are too lazy to get up at 6am.

by Anonymousreply 359April 25, 2024 12:45 PM

Oh no! NOT THE TOWER OF CRAB! S5E9, ugh.

by Anonymousreply 360April 25, 2024 12:46 PM

Back to Russia, like Anne Applebaum. Sensible.

by Anonymousreply 361April 25, 2024 12:47 PM

Like Not-A-Mystery Science Theater.

by Anonymousreply 362April 25, 2024 12:49 PM

Ribs and cornbread.

Back to MJ live 9amET

Joe is fired up after his 8am nap.

by Anonymousreply 363April 25, 2024 1:02 PM

People forget that Rachel was the one who discovered and kept the drumbeat going for the Fake Electors Election Fraud case.

by Anonymousreply 364April 25, 2024 1:14 PM

Heilieman! So glad he wound up at Puck.

by Anonymousreply 365April 25, 2024 1:19 PM

I switched over to CNN. It's priceless watching Andy Cooper stifle a giggle every time he says "David Pecker".

by Anonymousreply 366April 25, 2024 1:42 PM

Ari Melber does not look happy being up so early.

Guess Katie Phang is getting more time than Rap Stars these days.

by Anonymousreply 367April 25, 2024 1:48 PM

Finall the explanation of what took AZ so long.

Brnvovich needs to be indicted.

by Anonymousreply 368April 25, 2024 1:55 PM

Wow, Heiieleman signs off with a quote from Hitler. Brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 369April 25, 2024 2:00 PM

Cabrera/Ballart ZZZZzzzz....

Couldn't cover a hanging.

by Anonymousreply 370April 25, 2024 2:01 PM

R359 That’s Mika’s cousin, not her brother

by Anonymousreply 371April 25, 2024 4:06 PM

Thanks, still cute. He can still read Byron to me with my head in his lap...

by Anonymousreply 372April 25, 2024 4:09 PM

[Pecker]

Held salacious material on Lá Sènatrice & then turned gentleman caller?

by Anonymousreply 373April 26, 2024 9:41 AM

How many stories about Arnold cheating on Maria did Pecker testify he killed?

by Anonymousreply 374April 26, 2024 9:56 AM

If it's Friday Joe AND Mika are off.

by Anonymousreply 375April 26, 2024 10:03 AM

WHEW! That Michael Fanone is HOT!!!

by Anonymousreply 376April 26, 2024 11:23 AM

^Indeed! I love the slow pan of the camera beside him where you could see those legs in those tight jeans. And he's looking a little more buff than usual too.

by Anonymousreply 377April 26, 2024 11:54 AM

Joe, Mika AND Smirky Lemire. Are off.

Willie and Jen Palmiery at the helm.

by Anonymousreply 378April 26, 2024 11:56 AM

Mika getting what she needs from Michael Fanone while Joe is at work.

Let's be honest, Joe is a fugly, pinched faced conservative wannabe musician no one could get a hard on for. Mika is only with him for the $$$. But a girl has needs. Enter Michael Fanone. He's everything Joe is not in bed.

by Anonymousreply 379April 26, 2024 11:59 AM

Willie is hosting one of the strongest shows. Great guests and thoughtful commentary. Handsome Willie is a smooth host.

by Anonymousreply 380April 26, 2024 12:09 PM

Jennifer Palmieri has a face that could induce a seizure.

No matter how hard they try to make her look presentable for television, it’s an impossible task.

by Anonymousreply 381April 26, 2024 12:12 PM

Willie Geist’s lost twin.

Pablo Torre is a great sports guest! Sweet looking little fuckbear, too.

by Anonymousreply 383April 26, 2024 12:34 PM

The Judi Dench interview was boring and a waste of time.

by Anonymousreply 384April 26, 2024 12:57 PM

Does anyone believe Joe stayed up past his bedtime reading Dench's book?

by Anonymousreply 385April 26, 2024 2:19 PM

that guy who came on to stick up for millennials was epic

by Anonymousreply 386April 26, 2024 2:38 PM

Willie's gayvoice is only slightly less severe than Andrew Weissman's.

by Anonymousreply 387April 26, 2024 3:04 PM

I'd rather see Fanone and Joe in bed than Fanone and Mika.

by Anonymousreply 388April 26, 2024 3:04 PM

I'd rather see Fanone and Vaughn Hillyard in bed.

by Anonymousreply 389April 26, 2024 3:30 PM

Where is JOE??????

by Anonymousreply 390April 26, 2024 3:54 PM

I believe the Dench block was a pre-record.

by Anonymousreply 391April 26, 2024 4:22 PM

I thought the Dench interview was entertaining. I am a huge fan of hers.

by Anonymousreply 392April 26, 2024 4:54 PM

Ali Vitali is my new idol! She's GOOD.

by Anonymousreply 393April 27, 2024 8:56 PM

I wonder if Ali Vitali and CNN's Jeremy Diamond are still a couple, he has been in Israel almost constantly since October.

by Anonymousreply 394April 27, 2024 10:03 PM
