Nearly every discussion forum website has subcategories, yet DL remains an endless scroll of threads that most likely don't interest you. Some suggestions; add your own.

MollyTommy, the new LGBTQIA-XYZ+++ social media app, looks quite stupid.

Found this in my spam folder. Naming an app after old-timey British street whores?

MollyTommy, an LGBTQ+ Social Media Platform, has recently seen unprecedented growth within the first few months of 2023.

ATLANTA, March 2, 2023 (Newswire.com) - MollyTommy, an LGBTQ+ Social Media Platform, has recently seen unprecedented growth within the first few months of 2023. Not only has the LGBTQ+ community embraced the online safe space, but also many large brands have partnered with MollyTommy.

MollyTommy touts that they are "The World's Preferred Safe and Inclusive Social Media Platform for Allies and Members of the LGBTQ+ Community." Many folks within the LGBTQ+ community feel traditional social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok is neither a welcoming nor a safe place to be their authentic selves, and GLAAD's 2022 Social Media Safety Index (SMSI) provides further data explaining 84% of LGBTQ+ adults stated there not enough protections on social media to prevent discrimination, harassment, or disinformation due to the amount of hate and persecution they experience on a regular basis. With MollyTommy's safeguards in place, it is no wonder membership has been growing.

Not only has the LGBTQ+ community taken notice, but many organizations and Convention and Visitors Bureaus have partnered with MollyTommy. MollyTommy is the only social media platform specifically serving the LGBTQ+ community in which advertisers can show their support and guarantee to be seen. Also, partnering with MollyTommy makes a great addition to many organizations' inclusive marketing goals.

Recently, PridePays, Just Corps, Cruise Planners, Pride Lending and St. Pete's Clearwater has partnered with MollyTommy.

"We are so grateful and pleased with the support provided by our partners who understand the need for an LGBTQ+ safe space online. Also, by partnering with us, they are showing their solidarity within our diverse communities," said Tammy Kaudy, Co-Founder, MollyTommy.

MollyTommy is a free social media platform where LGBTQ+ communities, their friends, families, and businesses can unite with a sense of purpose and use their voices to engage with each other in a safe environment.

AT&T, Verizon, Deloitte, Charter Comm., & General Motors top the list of fake pro-LGBT supportive corporations.

They tweet rainbow flags, then give cash to bigots.

[bold]These 25 rainbow-flag waving companies donated $13 million to anti-gay politicians since 2021[/bold]

by Judd Legum, Tesnim Zekeria, and Rebecca Crosby

June is Pride Month, and this year's celebration has particular resonance. Over the last year, anti-LGBTQ politicians have relentlessly targeted the community with harmful legislation and other policy initiatives. There are new laws prohibiting teachers from acknowledging the existence of LGBTQ people, new policies targeting trans kids and their parents, and new bans on books with LGBTQ characters.

Major corporations, meanwhile, are eager to communicate that they are allies of the LGBTQ community. They are plastering their social media avatars with rainbows and sponsoring Pride parades. It's part of a strategy to attract the best employees and the widest range of customers. In short, being perceived as welcoming of the LGBTQ community is good for business.

A Popular Information investigation, however, found that 25 major corporations have donated more than $13.2 million to anti-LGBTQ politicians since the start of 2021.

Ncuti 'the cutie' Gatwa is our next Doctor Who

Actor Ncuti Gatwa will take over from Jodie Whittaker as the star of Doctor Who, the BBC has announced.

The 29-year-old will become the 14th Time Lord on the popular science fiction show, and the first person of colour to play the lead role.

Scottish actor Gatwa, who was born in Rwanda, is best known for starring in Netflix's sitcom Sex Education.

He told BBC News: "It feels really amazing. It's a true honour. This role is an institution and it's so iconic."

Speaking on the red carpet before Sunday's Bafta TV Awards, where he is nominated for Sex Education, Gatwa said the role of the Doctor "means a lot to so many people, including myself".

He added: "I feel very grateful to have had the baton handed over and I'm going to try to do my best."

Queer seniors are more likely to suffer dementia

“The prevalence of cognitive impairment is significantly higher among sexual minority older adults than among heterosexual older adults when socio-demographic factors are adjusted for,” the study says.

They examined the data for the cause of the difference, examining various domains known to show risk factors for dementia: physical conditions, mental health conditions, lifestyle, and social connections. And what they found was that the big difference between LGB and straight seniors was depression.

“Our findings suggest that depression may be one of the important underlying factors leading to cognitive disadvantages for LGB people,” Hsieh said in a statement. “They may experience higher rates of depression than their heterosexual peers for many reasons, including not being accepted by parts of society, feeling ashamed of their sexual orientation or trying to hide their romantic relationships, and being treated unfairly in school or at work.”

“We knew that stress and depression are risk factors for many chronic health problems, including cognitive impairment, in later life,” she continued. “LGB people experience more stressful events and have higher rates of depression compared to their heterosexual counterparts.”

They thought that other factors – including social connections, smoking, and drinking – would play a bigger role than their study found that they did.

“Social inequality makes less privileged groups, including sexual minorities, more prone to develop cognitive impairment,” Hsieh said. “Making the society more just and more accepting of diverse sexuality may help prevent dementia and reduce related health care burden on society.”

Tasteful Friends: the 'Dark Shadows' house is foe sale! Boo!

This castle-like estate on Ruggles Avenue has donned many names: Seaview Terrace, Burnham-by-the-Sea, Carey Mansion. (For fans of “Dark Shadows,” the horror soap opera that use its facade as an exterior set, it will always be Collinwood Mansion.)

But before all that, it was known as Aladdin’s Palace and it occupied a city block in Washington D.C. Its whiskey baron owner, Edson Bradley, bought and renovated the palatial mansion with hopes of avoiding Prohibition in the nation’s capital. But D.C. went dry and, like a genie summoned from its bottle, Bradley had a fleet of workers dismantle whole rooms from the house, transport them 400 miles and tack them onto an existing mansion in Newport. (Those rooms, it should be noted, had been imported from France and installed in D.C. just twenty years earlier.) The Frankensteinian task of adding onto one mansion with pieces of another — while also melding Jacobean, French Renaissance and Elizabethan Revival influences to a cohesive Chateauesque whole — earned its architect a president’s medal from the American League of Architects, per Seaview CARES,and a nod in Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

“There’s so much history here,” says Vin Fraioli of Edge Realty RI, which listed the property late last month. He mentions the mansion — the largest privately owned estate in Newport — was used by the U.S. Army during World War II and, for a spell, it also housed a girls’ boarding school. In the 1970s, it was purchased by the Carey family, who leased the mansion’s performance hall and stables to Salve Regina University. The family resumed occupancy in 2009 and, now, Seaview Terrace is on the market for its next steward.

'Workers Pining for the Office' says inept, biased NY Times article.

(in which the now-incompetent NY Times desperately hobbles together a few losers who 'can't wait' to go back to their cubicle; why? To bolster corporate obedience?)

“That’s been a hard struggle for us,” Polivanaya, 30, said. “I feel like I don’t have a good space to focus in.” She was able to return to the relative quiet of her office for a few days a week starting in July, but she worried that the surging virus could send her back to her hectic work-from-home life.

Certainly, some people have thrived in their new remote work lives. They saved time and money, and sometimes increased productivity. The degree to which employees have embraced permanent remote or hybrid work models has been “stunning” to company executives, said Tsedal Neeley, a Harvard Business School professor who has studied remote work for decades.

But for others, Neeley said, it has removed needed barriers between work and home life, increased a sense of isolation and led to burnout. “Some people just dislike the screen — their physicality and their proximity to others is a big part of what work looks like,” she said.

Many workers are back in offices already. Just 13% of Americans worked from home at some point in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated, down from a pandemic peak of 35% in May 2020. And some workers have said the delta variant has not changed their employers’ return-to-office plans.

FX's six-part 'Pride' docuseries

The first three episodes are online on FX/Hulu.

Some great interviews, fascinating vintage footage, but it focuses a lot on...you guessed it: trans POC!

And of course the Stonewall discussion, while not falsely claiming Sylvia & Marsha "led" the riot, quotes them as representative, and omits any mention of the white gay men who were there, some of whom are still alive and would have been available for interviews. The segment even hones in on the few Black people in the historic post-Stonewall 'Village Voice' photos by Fred W. McDarrah.

The rest of it is better; good dramatized scenes, familiar names to those who've done their homework, and required viewing for the young ones.

The Very Gay and Interesting History of the Almost Lost Tradition of the Sunday Tea Dance

Many gay men under the age of 30 today are totally clueless of the almost lost tradition of the Sunday Tea Dance. (A tradition that really must be brought back.) So here’s a little history primer on the “Sunday T-dance” and how and why it was embraced it in the gay culture.

Historically, tea was served in the afternoon, either with snacks (“low tea”) or with a full meal (“high tea” or “meat tea”). High Tea eventually moved earlier in the day, sometimes replacing the midday “luncheon” and settled around 11 o’clock, becoming the forerunner of what we know as “brunch”.

From the late 1800’s to well into the pre-WWI era in both America and England, late afternoon (low) tea service became the highlight of society life. As dance crazes swept both countries, tea dances became increasingly popular as places where single women and their gentlemen friends could meet — the singles scene of the age.

While tea dances enjoyed a revival in America after the Great War, The Great Depression of the 30’s wiped them out. Tea consumption was in steady decline in America anyways and by the 50’s, tea was largely thought of as something “your grandmother drinks”. Also, nightlife was moving later and younger. Working men and women were too busy building the American Dream to socialize so it was left to their teenaged children in the age of sockhops and the jukebox diner. Rock and roll was dark and dangerous — something you sneaked out for after dinner, not took part in before dinner.

Happy Birthday, 'Dark Side of the Moon'

Pink Floyd's classic album was released on March 1, 1973.

Share your stoner stories, rocker gays.

-- It may have only reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 for one week, but the heavily conceptual album stayed on the chart for 741 straight weeks from 1973 to 1988 – an as yet and never likely to be broken streak. It made the chart again in 2009 when the trade magazine changed its measurements for catalog releases.

Released on March 1, 1973, and with worldwide sales of some 45 million copies, it is one of the best-selling albums ever. (Estimates put it behind only Michael Jackson’s Thriller, AC/DC’s Back in Black and Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell in worldwide sales.)

Floyd toured the record’s material extensively in the U.K. and even previewed it live for the press in February 1972 at London’s Rainbow Theatre before recording sessions at EMI’s famed Abbey Road Studios in the summer of that year and January 1973. The album utilized some of the most cutting-edge recording technology and instruments (like analog synthesizers) of the day. And it still sounds modern and not at all archaic in the digital age.

Playgirl returns!

PLAYGIRL Magazine to Relaunch Next Week After Years Absence. Will Kohler 2 days ago 1 145 Less than a minute

PLAYGIRL magazine originally published for women but who also had a large gay fanbase will relaunch next month after a four year absence.

The (ehmm) legendary publication which ran from 1973 to 2016 will relaunch is this coming Monday, October 26.

Playgirl‘s new editor Jack Lindley-Kuhns has said that he” “will unveil a modern mold” for the magazine this month — a mold that looks beyond a simple state of undress. Sure, the infamous centerfold will make its comeback, but in a far more decadent way.

Playgirl, according to their new publisher, “represents an open message that eroticism has no gender right now, and no sexual tendency, and Playgirl is pure eroticism on paper to take home. It’s a fantasy. The magazine was focused on the idea of desire, but desire in every topic they touch—in the environment, health, politics. It’s a magazine about desire.”

Playgirl’s Vol. 1, No. 1 appeared in June 1973, featuring Lyle Waggoner as the centerfold. Other early centerfolds included George Maharis, Don Stroud, Christopher George, Fabian Forte, Peter Lupus and professional athlete Jim Brown.

There has been no word about who the first centerfold will be.

The Legal Fight Awaiting Us After the Election

The aftermath of November’s vote has the potential to make 2000 look like a mere skirmish.

(Yes, the writer wanked on Zoom, but it's no less serious.)

--

“The only way we’re going to lose this election is if the election is rigged—remember that,” Trump said recently. “So we have to be very careful. . . . The only way they’re going to win is that way. And we can’t let that happen.”

Democrats say that a strategy of reticence is a thing of the past. One Democratic veteran assured me that the Democratic Party of today is “totally different” from the Party of 2000: “Much less institutionally focussed, more ideologically grounded, and uncompromising. There is zero chance that anybody is going to say at some point that it’s better for the country that we settle the matter now, give in, and then try to win in four years. No one thinks that another four years of Trump is survivable. The campaign believes this is an existential battle.”

Compounding all this is the coronavirus pandemic, which will force dramatic changes in how voters cast their ballots. The number of mail-in ballots will increase substantially: recent national polls suggest that about a third of all voters plan to vote by mail this year. Trump has assailed the practice of voting by mail, asserting without evidence that it is susceptible to fraud.

In fact, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Utah have used universal mail-in voting—in which the state mails a ballot to each registered voter—for some time, including in previous Presidential elections, with few significant problems. There is no meaningful difference between absentee voting and mail-in voting, but Trump supports absentee voting, even using it himself. In early August, when he was signing his Florida absentee-ballot application, he said, “Absentee ballots are good. Universal mail-ins, when you get inundated with these things, are bad and will lead to terrible things, including voter fraud.” More recently, Trump has spoken at length about the purported evils of universal mail-in voting. “They are sending out fifty-one million ballots to people that didn’t ask for them,” he said during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, on the final night of the Democratic National Convention. “This will be the most fraudulent election in history. . . . It’s just a horrible thing. It’s going to be impossible to police.” (It’s unclear where Trump got that figure; at other times, he has used the figure of eighty million.)

Porn meets Broadway in some online thing to which we're supposed to pay attention:

Apparently, Broadway does go for boos and porn.

-- About a decade ago, adult entertainment performers Jessy Ares and Hans Berlin were doing a scene together and discovered a mutual interest — musical theater. Ares said he used a lot of his money to produce his own songs and music, and that he would perform in a jockstrap and sneakers—and sometimes even show his dick and have a hard-on. He sang songs like 'Pornstar' and 'Callboy Ahoy,'" wrote the NSFW website The Sword last year.

Something clicked with Berlin. "Jessy put that singing porn star/porn musical idea into my brain. So, I toyed around with that idea and I wrote down a treatment of the story, and it's based on my story—although yes, it's pretty clear that I wanted to make my protagonist younger," Berlin said.

Florian Klein (Berlin's alter-ego) decided to take the idea to the next level. He collaborated with composer Thomas Zaufke and lyricist Eric Ransom on a musical about his experiences in gay porn entitled "Shining Star." A year ago, their project got its first production at the Hudson Mainstage Theatre in Hollywood, where it had a limited, sold-out run. It was nominated for two Ovation Awards by the LA Stage Alliance.

This week Klein has partnered with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Pineapple Support to release a COVID-19 Relief Fundraising Medley music video on October 1st to raise funds for performers during the pandemic, writes The Sword.

The video will premiere on October 1 at 8:15 pm on YouTube. It features performers from the musical's NYC workshop and LA production, along with cameos from stars of RuPaul's Drag Race and the adult film industry. Amongst the cameos are award-winning NakedSword director mr. Pam, Jensen Clifford, Chris Crisco, Honey Davenport, Coco Peru, Alexa Poller, Misha Riley and Alaska Thunderf.

Also, the project features many well-known "Essensual Workers" from the industry, including Adam Ramzi, Brian Bonds, Luca D'Amore, Jay Alexander, Scott DeMarco, Jason Derek, Jason Domino, Element Eclipse, Ian Frost, Duncan Black, Jackson Hood, Nick Milani, Antonio Biaggi and Leya Tanit, reports The Sword.

Squinty-eyed asshole Rethug Charlie Kirk's 'young conservative' grup behind massive troll farm cult

Charlie Kirk’s Conservative Student Org ‘Turning Point USA’ Behind Massive Youth Troll Farm Pushing Conspiracy Theories, Disinformation on Social Media

Pro-Trump youth group enlists teens in secretive campaign likened to a ‘troll farm,’ prompting rebuke by Facebook and Twitter

--

One tweet claimed coronavirus numbers were intentionally inflated, adding, “It’s hard to know what to believe.” Another warned, “Don’t trust Dr. Fauci.”

A Facebook comment argued that mail-in ballots “will lead to fraud for this election,” while an Instagram comment amplified the erroneous claim that 28 million ballots went missing in the past four elections.

The messages have been emanating in recent months from the accounts of young people in Arizona seemingly expressing their own views — standing up for President Trump in a battleground state and echoing talking points from his reelection campaign.

Far from representing a genuine social media groundswell, however, the posts are the product of a sprawling yet secretive campaign that experts say evades the guardrails put in place by social media companies to limit online disinformation of the sort used by Russia during the 2016 campaign.

Teenagers, some of them minors, are being paid to pump out the messages at the direction of Turning Point Action, an affiliate of Turning Point USA, the prominent conservative youth organization based in Phoenix, according to four people with independent knowledge of the effort. Their descriptions were confirmed by detailed notes from relatives of one of the teenagers who recorded conversations with him about the efforts.

Dealing with your Show Biz friends and acquaintances' constant need for approval

"Come see my show!" often stirs dread, as a palm card promoting my singer/actor/cabaret starlette/poet art friends and acquaintances is pressed into my hand, or via repeatedly updated invites on social media.

What's worse are those who -after you've seen their little cabaret shows once or twice- expect you to see them again, and again! No, dear; you're good, but you're not that good.

Of my many theatrical pals and near-pals, few understand the polite rebuff. 'Thanks, I'll see if I can,' versus an instant lie, 'I think I have plans.' Yes, those plans are to not pay $20 a cocktail to hear you mangle Cole Porters songs, dear.

No, guy, my plans preclude ever wasting another evening enduring Chekhov. But break a leg!

How do you politely (or impolitely) deal with needy performing arts pals' insistent need for your audience approval?
