Late in his life, he apparently became a steampunk trans.
I was not expecting those chins.

He’d do anything to live, but he wouldn’t do that.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 20, 2021 6:51 PM |
He's now "sleeping on it" for all eternity.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 20, 2021 6:56 PM |
Oh, no! His sister Gloria must be devastated.

Did DL kill him like we killed Jani Lane?
There was a thread about him a few months back

A face that was made for radio. Like his music.

When I heard the news of Jim passing, it felt just like a Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Did his Rock and Roll Dreams ever come true?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 20, 2021 7:18 PM |
Seems like he was a bit of a loner throughout his life. He avoided relationships and protected himself from getting hurt. So the songs he wrote didn't come from his heart, but he was able to evoke those emotions perfectly.

All revved up and nowhere to go. Harsh.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 20, 2021 8:47 PM |
R11 Well, this video is kinda screamingly camp.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 20, 2021 8:48 PM |
And now he’s like a bat INTO hell.

Did he ever appear in Playgirl's REAL MEN section because he's a HOTTIE

I’m 65 and my first reaction was, who?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 20, 2021 9:00 PM |
Thanks for that update, r17.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 20, 2021 9:05 PM |
His music sucks donkey dick.
He had ONE melody line.
ONE.

But his goiter survived him.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 22, 2021 12:58 AM |
Huge fan of his music. He definitely had a particular style and rarely varied from it, but he had many memorable songs that still hold up today.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 22, 2021 1:03 AM |
What was it about those Wall of Sound guys that made them so wacky?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 22, 2021 1:05 AM |
His music was so subtle, it's surprising that his wardrobe choices were so over-the-top
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 22, 2021 1:14 AM |
He was so identified with Bat Out of Hell that most people thought he produced it, when it was actually Todd Rundgren.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 22, 2021 1:19 AM |
It's interesting to see someone whose musical style was as bloated as he was.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 22, 2021 1:23 AM |
If you're commenting on his appearance, R28, you do know he died of kidney failure and had been sick for a long time?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 22, 2021 1:25 AM |
Will Celine be singing a power ballad at the funeral?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 22, 2021 1:25 AM |
Come on. I love many of those songs. They are all somewhat the same, but they are fucking ICONIC. The song he did for Celine is still considered her most impressive recording in the English Language. She and Bonnie Tyler were given a GIFT. Celine didn't need Steinman, but she proved something with this song that took her career to the next level.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 22, 2021 1:29 AM |
Can I have his shades?

How can you not love the man who wrote “Good Girls Go to Heaven, Bad Girls Go Everywhere”?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 22, 2021 1:36 AM |
The best cover of one of his songs is this one done by Jeremy Jordan, that both pays homage and mocks it simultaneously with a powerhouse performance. The guy he flirts with is that Jeff dude who is with that model Taylor that y’all have so many threads about. If Jeff actually got the chance to be fucked by Jeremy I hope to god he took it.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 22, 2021 1:42 AM |
Jeremy is so fucking sweet and cute and loves to sing the diva songs. But he is straight. He's just one of those guys who is comfortable being one of the girls. I think he should be a bigger star. BUT - he often misses those high notes, let's not pretend. It's why he dare not sing it "straight."
Here is Celine in the morning. She was sick for this performance and she backs off from sustained note and her voice breaks a bit - but she knows exactly what she is doing vocally. It's not her greatest performance - but everything she could do. It's an incredibly difficult song to sing. Sometimes the Steinman songs are curiously lacking in impact, for all their grandiosity.
I fucked Jeremy Jordan off the coast of Georgian Bay one whole summer in his ASS.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 22, 2021 1:49 AM |
Guess it's a little known fact here, but he actually wrote other songs besides Coming Back To Me Now
Meatloaf & Cher - Dead Ringer For Love
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 22, 2021 1:56 AM |
Did he? Yes R36. A lot of people sing this Steinman song. Some better than others.🤪
Christine Bianco does most of the vocals on RuPaul's Drag Race musicals too. Some impersonations.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 22, 2021 2:16 AM |
That was awesome r37
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 22, 2021 2:34 AM |
Ha. She's not new, but I'm glad you liked it R38. There will be soon someone posting that Bianco's this or that impersonation doesn't sound so great or that Christine Pedi does it better. *yawn*
But the voice switching in that performance is AMAZING from Christine - it's almost impossible to do. Jeremy Jordan is from 54 below too. It was a good time. All coming back to me now....

I don't know why you find this amusing. You used to type it on the Colton Haynes threads. Get some fucking wit!

On a serious tip, is Meat ok? They had a very special long and deep relationship, and Meat is a very emotionally-sensitive person.

Did they?

Can someone check on SteinmanInsider? Make sure he has his mourning blacks steamed and pressed?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 22, 2021 11:16 AM |
Was the song It's All Coming Back to Me Now about the "friendship" between Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 24, 2021 10:24 PM |
R47 great thread. What an intense relationship Jim & Meat really had.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 24, 2021 10:28 PM |

Total Eclipse Of the Heart is camp heaven and SO 80s. One of the definitive songs of the decade and Bonnie Tyler sang her ass off on it.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 25, 2021 12:42 AM |
“The gayest man on earth would call this over the top!”
Did Jim ever comment on the literal video of a Total Eclipse? It remains a standout in the genre.

Not familiar with him and initially thought that was Dr. Rachel Levine with some new fashionable eyewear.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 27, 2021 8:34 PM |
Dr. Rachel Levine only goes for no nonsense eyewear that does not distract or obscure the sight lines, she is a lady and a doctor, there is a decorum that needs to be upheld after all!
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 27, 2021 8:47 PM |
I love that song, r25, and Ronan Keating especially.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 27, 2021 11:30 PM |
I"ve always been disturbed by this video. Heavily Satanic. Total celebration of the Dark Lord. All the gay boys kicking their legs up in Bonnie's face, saying get lost you evil wench! Unabashedly evil!

R61 that’s what tipped you off? Not, say, I don’t know...the album illustrated with a fiery brimstone chasm teeming with monsters, titled BAT OUT OF HELL? Or the similarly illustrated and titled BAT OUT OF HELL II: BACK INTO HELL?

Here’s an excellent podcast from Slate.com about Steinman’s career. He had quite a number of hits that i recognized, but didn’t know that they all came from one person. Give the podcast a listen, it’s quite informative.
