Pierre, is he ok?

His regular posts are missing after complaints of continued pneumonia over weeks, maybe months?

No Christmas Moose posts, and it was just Christmas. This guy lives for Moose postings. And Christmas.

Also, no Monday Morning Moo’s.

Pierre, if you’re out there seeing this, your absence is noted with alarm.

by Anonymousreply 284Last Thursday at 12:46 AM

The thing about Pierre is his decency, most of us here are most indecent. But Pierre is another sort, and he writes like a dream.

by Anonymousreply 112/26/2020

Oh c’mon, somebody must have something to say besides me.

by Anonymousreply 212/26/2020

Pierre, please check in!

by Anonymousreply 312/26/2020

How can I respond to his threads, it’s like waltzing alone.

by Anonymousreply 412/26/2020

^I should say, how can I resond NOW, it’s like waltzing alone.

Come dance the lindl with me, Pierre.

by Anonymousreply 512/26/2020

His last post appears to have been on December 5.

by Anonymousreply 612/26/2020

Only our Pierre could discuss whale oil lamps, r5.

by Anonymousreply 712/26/2020

Excuse I meant r6 ^

by Anonymousreply 812/26/2020

I like Pierre but I always thought he lived a fantasy life in France. Not that there's anything wrong with that, we all live (at least partial) fantasy lives on DL. Maybe he's living his dream life as Dan Levy's partner.

by Anonymousreply 912/26/2020

Doesn't he live near Boston?

by Anonymousreply 1012/26/2020

Yes,, r10. Pierre is Bavarian American according to his Uncle Günther and grandfather Otto.

by Anonymousreply 1112/26/2020

Pierre, where are you?

by Anonymousreply 1212/26/2020

Are you posters the mushroom microdosers?

by Anonymousreply 1312/26/2020

Pierre last posted to his Monday Morning Moos at r112 from the “Moo with a Mask, Please” thread,, December 10. Muriel won’t link.

by Anonymousreply 1412/26/2020

I’m worried. Someone check Suffolk County death records.

by Anonymousreply 1512/26/2020

I'm one of the microdosers but today I took a big dose and I just now saw this thread and now I am worried. Pierre was so charitable to reply many times in my Jury Duty thread earlier this year.

This fucking year, man.

by Anonymousreply 1612/26/2020

Perhaps Randolf finally killed him? Perhaps the Moose assisted?

by Anonymousreply 1712/26/2020

[quote] Also, no Monday Morning Moo’s.

What does the Moo possess?

by Anonymousreply 1812/26/2020

Pierre bump!

by Anonymousreply 1912/26/2020

R9, you’re thinking of Frenchy. Pierre lives here.

by Anonymousreply 2012/26/2020

I don't know him really, but searched this NY site for Newsday obituaries and no one named Pierre showed up.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 2112/26/2020

R20 Now I'm confused. I thought I was following Pierre - who loved Dan Levy - but maybe it was Frenchy?

by Anonymousreply 2212/26/2020

Wasnt Pierre from RI?

by Anonymousreply 2312/26/2020

oH, she is fine OP, I'm sure she is trolling for unmentionables in P-town or somewhere sleazy, like Hell's Kitchen.

by Anonymousreply 2412/26/2020

Pierre wellness check bump

by Anonymousreply 2512/27/2020

Christmas without the Christmas Moose, it’s a lonely feeling.

by Anonymousreply 2612/27/2020

What is going on in those “moo” threads? I’m so confused.

by Anonymousreply 2712/27/2020

Ethel to Pierre...

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 2812/27/2020

Is Pierre really the Christmas Moose? If so, he’s so damn lovable! He’s replied to me with some of the sweetest, cutest, kindest things in the past.

We miss you Pierre!

by Anonymousreply 2912/27/2020

Pierre is the Christmas Moose, the OP and host of Monday Morning Moos and The Evening Punctuationist. And yes, he is damned lovable, r29

by Anonymousreply 3012/27/2020

If we post in his threads that he started, maybe he’ll notice his thread watcher has replies.

by Anonymousreply 3112/27/2020

I hope Pierre is ok - he is very sweet and seems like a good son to his elderly parents.

by Anonymousreply 3212/27/2020

Pierre, please check in! We miss you.

by Anonymousreply 3312/27/2020

Hopefully he's off somewhere getting lucky...

by Anonymousreply 3512/27/2020

Can’t Muriel check on people since she’s the one with our email addresses?

by Anonymousreply 3612/27/2020

Yes OP, it IS unfathomable that someone wants a break from this vile pit of trollery

by Anonymousreply 3712/27/2020

Where are you, Pierre?

by Anonymousreply 3812/28/2020

There might have been a sighting at r128 on the thread below. It’s just not definite, but sounds a little like his writing style.

Pierre, we’ve been calling for days. Make yourself known, please.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 3912/28/2020

Where is Pierre? Is he safe? Is he alright?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 4012/28/2020

R39, per the ignore-dar trick, that person at #128 is actually the OP of this thread, not Pierre.

by Anonymousreply 4112/28/2020

No, you're mistaken, r41. I’m the OP and also r39 here, but I am not r128 on the MOO thread. However I AM r129 on the Moo thread.

Maybe you troll-darred the wrong reply by accident.

by Anonymousreply 4212/28/2020

I am R128 of the Moo thread. I am neither Pierre nor the OP of this thread. I’ve posted several times in this thread; however, I wouldn’t have placed an apostrophe in “Moo’s” at the OP. Pierre and I share a similar sense of humor and, to an extent, writing style. Thus I’ve been attracted to and posting on his threads for years.

by Anonymousreply 4312/28/2020

Thanks, r43, for clearing that up.

by Anonymousreply 4412/28/2020

You're right guys, sorry, I got R43 et al. confused with the OP. I think when I tried the ignore trick, it also included the top post of this thread, or maybe I just got the MOO thread confused with the Moo thread.

by Anonymousreply 4512/28/2020

So did he have the Rona or what?

by Anonymousreply 4612/28/2020

Pierre had said he had pneumonia three times in 4 or 5 months. He had been posting a lot less at that time.

Now, nothing.

by Anonymousreply 4712/28/2020

Pierre was posting a lot in the Coronavirus threads for a while. He is missed there, too.

by Anonymousreply 4812/28/2020

Pierre, as “Gertie,” talks of his pneumonia at r156 and r172 at the link below.

This dates back to August, but his health has been an issue ever since.

by Anonymousreply 4912/28/2020

I miss Pierre's puckish humor. He's been very nice to me over the years, even though he doesn't actually know me.

by Anonymousreply 5012/28/2020

by Anonymousreply 5112/28/2020

R51, Yes, I believe so (and a number of other characters).

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 5212/28/2020

Pierre is also the Christmas Otter, the darker side of Christmas Moose.

by Anonymousreply 5312/28/2020

r52 I always liked him, hopefully he's just in the hospital or something not too serious and will post when he gets better.

by Anonymousreply 5412/28/2020

I hope he's okay. I enjoy his posts.

by Anonymousreply 5512/28/2020

[quote] Pierre is also the Christmas Otter, the darker side of Christmas Moose.

It’s the Thanksgiving Otter who is the dark side of the Christmas Mouse (R.I.P.).

by Anonymousreply 5612/28/2020

Puckish is a great word to describe Pierre, r50.

He’s also unflappably affable and a good egg, deliberately so. The man can stare down a negative poster and respond with a surprising affability, only to turn the thread toward his puckish ideal.

by Anonymousreply 5712/28/2020

He’s just sweet and can turn a troll over with his kindness and smarts.

by Anonymousreply 5812/28/2020

I'm getting worried about our lovely Pierre.

by Anonymousreply 6112/30/2020

Miss you buddy, wish you would check in.

Whatever you’re going through right now, I hope it’s short so you can come back and spread your good cheer here. It looks more and more like you got really sick, after your pneumonia. I hope you wake up from it only to see how many DLers care about you.

by Anonymousreply 6212/30/2020

Pierre, can be sick and then turn it around and survive. We dont have to think he’s gone or leaving.

by Anonymousreply 6312/30/2020

Sorry for the comma above and I salute The Evening Punctuationist.

by Anonymousreply 6412/30/2020

It's hard to compete between Pierre and the recently deceased Dawn Wells of Gilligan’s Island, but when it comes down to it, I will choose the sweet absurdity of Pierre’s sense of humor over my beloved Mary Ann everyday.

Pierre, you win over Dawn Wells!

by Anonymousreply 6512/30/2020

by Anonymousreply 6612/30/2020

This is so whelming.

by Anonymousreply 6712/30/2020

Has anyone checked Legacy?

by Anonymousreply 6812/30/2020

^ there are a few Pierres who passed away the last few weeks...

by Anonymousreply 6912/30/2020

We don’t even know if that’s his real name...

by Anonymousreply 7012/30/2020

We know he just turned 60 on October 5.

We lnow he lives in or right alongside of Boston, and that he grew up in southeast CT.

We know he had a relative either on death row or in prison for life.

We know he invited birds to his rooftop.

We know he was planning to spend Christmas with a couple of other friends , low key. Damned of I can remember what his issue was with cooking dinner.

by Anonymousreply 7112/30/2020

We know his sister works for the phone company, ATT.

by Anonymousreply 7212/30/2020

I located his FB page several years back: some of the photos of his rooftop garden and birds match. Anyway, his sister posted on her FB that he died on December 16. I'm very scared of doxxing anyone, especially if I'm wrong. He was very nice to me over the years, and I'll miss him very much.

by Anonymousreply 7312/30/2020

Condolences, DL.

by Anonymousreply 7412/30/2020

Oh my god, he died? Please don’t let it be true.

Thank you, r73. Can you tell us more without doxxing? Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 7512/30/2020

But he’s only 60 😪

by Anonymousreply 7612/30/2020

That’s AWFUL. 😭

by Anonymousreply 7712/30/2020

by Anonymousreply 7812/30/2020

What a loss

by Anonymousreply 7912/30/2020

Here's a post of his from 2016 wishing his friends and family a Christmas Moose. I really only knew him from chatting with him here on DL, but he was close to his family. His name was David (nickname Gerry), and he posted the same sorts of things on FB that he did on DL: bears and cardinals and historic monuments (and politics, of course). It's a huge loss for his family IRL and here on DL.

by Anonymousreply 8212/30/2020

May his memory be a blessing.

by Anonymousreply 8312/30/2020

R82, We know he was suffering with pulmonary problems from his posts on DL, so I would assume it was COVID unless/until his family posts updates, which I don't think is likely.

by Anonymousreply 8412/30/2020

We’ve lost a good man tonight.

by Anonymousreply 8512/30/2020

Oh no, heartbreaking. He was very kind to me and to others. I'll miss his posts.

by Anonymousreply 8612/30/2020

by Anonymousreply 8912/30/2020

Casiraghi?

by Anonymousreply 9012/30/2020

I would like to send a card, too, r89.

by Anonymousreply 9112/30/2020

I don’t want to doxx anyone either, but if he lived in Rhode Island, his obituary is findable in Legacy.com. If you look for David as the first name and deaths the last two weeks, he shows up (I think). Since this is in the public, I’m posting it here, but please be warned—it could be a random stranger!

by Anonymousreply 9312/30/2020

That’s not him R92. I found him on FB by searching the words in the photo at R80 and filtering by the year.

by Anonymousreply 9412/30/2020

Ok thanks r92. A lot of the traits matched up, so figured it might be.

by Anonymousreply 9512/30/2020

Thanks though, r95

by Anonymousreply 9612/30/2020

Oh noooo.

by Anonymousreply 10012/30/2020

I share your grief, r97. He was my favorite poster, too.

I am Phyllis, Homer, Jane Pauley and others from the Moo thread. We are left heartbroken.

by Anonymousreply 10112/30/2020

He had a twin sister.

by Anonymousreply 10212/30/2020

This is so sad. He was so very kind. I most remember his posts on historical threads -- he knew his stuff!

by Anonymousreply 10312/30/2020

by Anonymousreply 10912/30/2020

He’s dead, Jim at R109.

by Anonymousreply 11012/30/2020

by Anonymousreply 11112/30/2020

by Anonymousreply 11212/30/2020

Our state capitol is open for business and healthy as ever!

by Anonymousreply 11312/30/2020

What happened? Pierre was scared to leave the house. Did he get COVID? How do you know it's him?

by Anonymousreply 11412/30/2020

OMG, I sent a FB condolence message to the daughter of the guy at r92 with a link to this thread and other "Pierre" threads!

by Anonymousreply 11512/30/2020

You mis-outed a dead man, R115?

by Anonymousreply 11612/30/2020

I don’t think that is appropriate. Even if it is the right Pierre. Jesus dude. Have some boundaries.

by Anonymousreply 11712/30/2020

For a minute, I thought our Pierre was Pierre Cardin because of the unfortunate timing.

by Anonymousreply 11812/30/2020

Now we know it wasn’t Mitt Romney.

by Anonymousreply 11912/30/2020

R107, I took that to mean, “If I be lifted up” from John 12:32, but how would I know?

It saddens me to think that was what he meant, as that would mean he had a sense the end was near. I sincerely hope that he did not suffer at the end.

Ive been here since 2008 and remember the various (funny) posts from Christmas Moose, Evening Punctuationalist (and Randolph!), etc. lots of laughs ...

Sending lots of love and light out today in his memory

by Anonymousreply 16901/01/2021

I was thinking and this may be a terrible idea so I want to throw it out there first.

I went to the link at R130 to make a small donation, but I couldn’t find the option to make it “in memory of”so I was going to send a check today.

I was considering adding in the subject line either for the wit and wisdom or Christmas Moose. Is that too weird? Over the line? Creepy?

by Anonymousreply 17001/01/2021

Personally, Elderlez, I don’t think it’s any of those things.

I think it’s nice. That’s what “in memory of” means to me. What that person reminded you of, regardless if others outside of your (our) circle would get it or not.

Let’s say a friend of yours died and you and she always had an inside joke about, say, poker chips. You may write “remember the chips!” on your donation. Others may say, “huh?” but it’s not their business or their memories.

by Anonymousreply 17101/01/2021

If anyone wants to, search for the foundation (entire name as is) in Facebook, and you’ll get his sister’s Facebook announcement of his death. You can then see whom she tagged in her announcement—Pierre is one of them.

by Anonymousreply 17501/01/2021

r170, a few of us sent donations to Brian's favorite animal shelter and sent condolences to his sister/family saying how we all appreciated him from Datalounge, and she did reply and thanked us. It just showed her how far and sort of obscure Brian's influence was.

by Anonymousreply 17601/01/2021

R176 Would you mind posting the name of Brian’s favorite animal shelter? I want to make a donation. I’m late to the news; I just found out the other day.

I’m so glad I ordered those pajamas from him in 2016. They are really nice. And they have worn really well due to the quality!

by Anonymousreply 17701/01/2021

r177, how kind of you! Yes, here was the shelter that he volunteered, adopted his cat from, and donated money to:

I’m thinking of you today, Pierre, and missing you very much.

I actually cried for you, and we’ve never met.

by Anonymousreply 17901/01/2021

You're not the only one, R179.

by Anonymousreply 18001/01/2021

Sad news. They were interesting sweet people.

by Anonymousreply 18101/01/2021

Thank you, MrE. x

by Anonymousreply 18201/01/2021

You would think that one advantage of anonymous boards would be not getting so attached to people, but that’s clearly not true.

by Anonymousreply 18301/01/2021

I keep popping into this thread to see if anybody else posted. I guess I’m hurting, too.

Reading his posts are what got me to be a daily reader of DL, I loved his brain and his writing style and his absurd sense of humor.

It’s been a few days and I’m still grieving him, I thought others might be, too. If so, you can post here and have some company. Miss you, Moose.

by Anonymousreply 18401/02/2021

I am too, R184.

A few years ago I was having a bad spell. Things were awful and nothing was going well for me. I mentioned my struggles in a post (can't remember which thread), the first person to respond to me was the Moose, wishing me well and offering a slobbery Moose kiss. His simple post put a smile on my face and I still think of that moment of kindness offered to me. Miss you Moose.

by Anonymousreply 18501/02/2021

Great. Now I have tears in my eyes thinking it.

by Anonymousreply 18601/02/2021

He’d be sending you big slobbery Moose kisses right now, r186. Pierre was great at lifting the stumbling man. And he was so good at it.

by Anonymousreply 18701/02/2021

I met Moose once back on the pageant circuit. Sweet as could be. I was first runner-up in that one, but competing with that sweetheart, well, I knew who was going to get the title. And well deserved it was.

Bravo, r188, thank you for the laugh!

by Anonymousreply 18901/02/2021

Oh no. I just checked the facebook post by his sister. He died on Dec. 25. That just makes it all the worse. He loved Christmas. God, this is so unfair. DL won't be the same without him. I don't want to post the link, or even a screenshot for fear of doxxing, but damn, I'm even more teary eyed now than before.

Thanks, R187, I'm sure you're right. I'm sure he'd be sending us all slobbery Moose kisses.

by Anonymousreply 19001/02/2021

One of Pierre’s “tells” was his exuberant use of exclamation points, like this! Those exclamations gave away his true identity with different characters more than I think he knew. Of course I never told him. I was a fan who enjoyed his personas and wouldnt dream of outing him!

by Anonymousreply 19101/02/2021

R190, I don't have Facebook.

R73 said his sister said he died on Dec.16th. I don’t understand.

by Anonymousreply 19201/02/2021

I'm R73, and his sister's FB announcement was updated to say he died on December 25th (and also removed a link for donations to the Kelsey S. Harrington Foundation). Here's an official obituary confirming the Christmas date. I don't feel like I'm doxxing him at this point that it's been publicly announced. I'd like to think that he rode away on the Christmas Moose's sleigh.

by Anonymousreply 19401/02/2021

Thank you, R193. How very sad.

by Anonymousreply 19501/02/2021

That’s a sweet face, as sweet as he sounded.

by Anonymousreply 19601/02/2021

That’s very odd that his sister’s original announcement was on December 16.

Thanks for posting the link, Blueboy.

by Anonymousreply 19701/02/2021

Wow, he was so incredibly accomplished. How does this shit happen? How do the dregs of the earth continue on (I’m looking at you, Drumpf)?

by Anonymousreply 19801/02/2021

Maybe he was on life support or in a coma on 12/16, and the family decided for him to die naturally?

by Anonymousreply 19901/02/2021

It’s lovely to have a face to the name Pierre, his picture is as warm as the poster I knew.

You’re beautiful, Pierre, beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 20001/02/2021

Thanks for sharing, R193.

by Anonymousreply 20101/02/2021

What an incredibly in-depth obituary. Tells us a lot about our friend. Thank you so much for sharing that, r193.

I hope FOCM is OK.

by Anonymousreply 20201/02/2021

FOCM and the Christmas Moose are one and the same, r202.

I’m sorry to tell you...they’re all Pierre.

by Anonymousreply 20301/02/2021

R203, do you tell kids there’s no Easter bunny too? Geez.

by Anonymousreply 20401/02/2021

Thank you, r203.

I assumed as much, but wasn’t sure and was hoping I was wrong.

by Anonymousreply 20501/02/2021

I love his face, he looks like Everyman for a minute, but then you link his many brilliant posts with this one face and realize, he’s a giant among men.

by Anonymousreply 20601/02/2021

I love his face, it’s a good face.

by Anonymousreply 20701/02/2021

Just told a gay friend about Brian and “Pierre”/David and even he feels sad about them....

by Anonymousreply 20801/02/2021

F208, I tried to tell a friend about this too, but because Pierre is an online presence, it didn’t land the way I felt it should.

I didn’t expect to have such a raw reaction to the death of a DLer. It’s all very confusing. I wish my other friends could understand.

by Anonymousreply 20901/02/2021

by Anonymousreply 21001/02/2021

I know I'm not adding much to the thread here but, fuck, this makes me sad.

by Anonymousreply 21101/02/2021

Can we talk about how we first encountered Pierre?

I first read his posts on the thread about "Darryl the back yard squirrel." Pierre came in to the thread talking about his Blue Jays ( R69 in the linked thread). I laughed out loud when another poster chastised him (R85), and at Pierre's response (R105).

by Anonymousreply 21201/02/2021

by Anonymousreply 21301/02/2021

We can celebrate his legacy by continuing the threads he contributed so much to. It's how he will live on in our hearts.

by Anonymousreply 21401/02/2021

That thread was hilarious, R213.

Good idea, R214.

by Anonymousreply 21501/02/2021

Should someone tell his sister he was beloved here? His thoughtfulness, intelligence, and empathy made him a great presence.

She might not understand the depth of such a statement. We hate almost everyone here.

I wish Pierre could’ve come on one last time to say goodbye to us.

by Anonymousreply 21601/02/2021

Let’s not go overboard and be so drastic and and have to make such grand and extravagant gestures. The guy was beloved. He was a legend. No need to have a parade in the square.

by Anonymousreply 21701/02/2021

R209 I know what you mean. This guy really got them. I told him about Brian’s art and kindness and Pierre’s characters. He emphasized with my feeling of loss.

by Anonymousreply 21801/02/2021

By all means, continue the threads.

by Anonymousreply 21901/02/2021

I feel so bad for Pierre. His obit says he died at home. I can't help but wonder what happened. I know he struggled with pneumonia, I just hope he wasn't in too much pain or discomfort in his last days. He'll be so missed around here.

R209, R218, I decided to tell my mom and I even showed her his obit. She knows nothing of DL, I simply said he was a member of a website I frequent (true!). She marveled at his accomplishments, thought he was handsome, AND thought he looked to be in his 40s (so years younger than his age!! ). She was understanding, and agreed that people we don't know personally can touch us deeply and in unexpected ways. I told her how he expressed kindness towards me when I was at a low point and that I was forever grateful for that - she said she too was grateful that a stranger showed me kindness when I needed it.

by Anonymousreply 22501/02/2021

THE GREAT NORTH

TONIGHT, 8:31 PM , 30 MIN 2021 TV-14

SEASON 1 • EPISODE 1 • SEXI MOOSE ADVENTURE

The Tobin family's plans to celebrate Judy's 16th birthday on the family fishing boat go awry after a moose breaks into the Tobin's home...

by Anonymousreply 22901/03/2021

A moose once bit my sister...

by Anonymousreply 23001/03/2021

R225, me too! R221, I'm glad you could share that with your mom.

by Anonymousreply 23101/04/2021

If you scroll to r92 of the attached thread, Pierre seems to suggest that Covid was the culprit.

Read it, he talks about a vaccine that could be available were he not a “plebe.”

For those who wrote that they don’t understand the Moo threads, Pierre wrote this at r108 below.

Note that he notes trouble with heart and lungs near the end. He was sick for a long time.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 23301/04/2021

Where does he discuss his health concerns, R233?

by Anonymousreply 23401/04/2021

R234; he doesn’t discuss it. Instead he makes a very rare aside which I found notable, since Pierre was indefatigably positive. See his last line at r108 of that thread...

by Anonymousreply 23501/04/2021

...then link it to his post at r92, same thread.

by Anonymousreply 23601/04/2021

[quote]David Gerry Bartol, 14th Generation Mayflower Descendent.

How sad the first line of your obituary is a relative's accomplishments from four hundred years ago.

by Anonymousreply 23701/04/2021

Sad? I’d say interesting, but not sad, r237. You seem very punchable. Go drown a basket of kittens or whatever makes you happy, just get out of here.

by Anonymousreply 23801/04/2021

Wow. TBH, I never enjoyed Pierre's characters and threads, but I am nonetheless shocked and saddened by this news. I fully expected he'd turn up in here alive and well, explaining that he'd just decided to take a break from DL. Never imagined we'd learn there was something really wrong, let alone that he was dead. Although I did not share Pierre's interests or brand of humor, he seemed like a very nice guy who only wanted to spread some cheer here, and I'm sorry that he's gone. Condolences to his DL buddies who came to know him well. To his sister, if she somehow ends up here, I'm sorry for your and your family's loss.

by Anonymousreply 23901/04/2021

Yes, it is sad R238. My father's family was at Jamestown and no one felt the need to broadcast the fact when someone died.

And I'll be in Times Square with a stiletto and that basket of kittens next week. Come by and punch me. I'll be wearing a MAGA hat.

by Anonymousreply 24001/04/2021

Love you, Pierre. You made a lot of people happy here.

by Anonymousreply 24101/04/2021

R237, only a miserable old fool would stink up a thread like this.

I’m holding back out of respect for Pierre and Brian what I really want to say to you. Suffice to say, I suspect there will be signs or relief when you’re gone from this world.

For now, I will settle for blocking you.

by Anonymousreply 24201/04/2021

Pierre, I saw two moose today! Wish you were here so I could tell you all about my sighting.

by Anonymousreply 24301/04/2021

R243, will you tell us anyway? It would fill my heart.

by Anonymousreply 24401/04/2021

Remember when "collaborative fiction" was entertaining?

by Anonymousreply 24501/04/2021

R244, my job involves travel to some fairly remote areas in Canada.

Today I was in Northern Ontario when my coworker and I saw two large brown spots in the distance. As we got closer we could see that the two brown spots were two moose just ahead of us!

We slowed down, blared the horn and they ambled out of our way. I see moose from time to time while at work, but aside from a mother and calf, I've never seen two together and I've been doing this job for 15 years! I don't know a lot about moose, all I can tell you is that they were huge and neither had antlers.

by Anonymousreply 24601/04/2021

Thank you, r246, I needed that.

by Anonymousreply 24701/04/2021

I opened up my 2021 calendar to hang up (only 4 days late). The month of January features, of all things, a moose.

I wiped some tears away. Rest In Peace, Pierre.

by Anonymousreply 24901/05/2021

by Anonymousreply 26801/11/2021

by Anonymousreply 26901/11/2021

I did send a small donation to foundation. Which of you signed the obituary guest book with the name Pierre? (It was a lovely message imho.)

by Anonymousreply 27501/11/2021

Here’s what Pierre wrote on his 60th birthday, 8/16/20. I think it might cheer you.

“For my birthday:

When I am an old man I shall wear caftans and earrings

With a red sash which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.

And I shall spend my Social Security on bourbon and butt plugs

And Calvin Klein Velcro sneakers, and say we’ve no money for Duke’s mayo.

I shall lounge wherever I damn well please when I’m tired

And gobble up samples in Aldi and press alarm bells

And run my dick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall flounce about as I please

And pick my nose, though not other people’s noses

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow even more fat

And eat three pounds of carbs, onion rings, and cake at a go

Or only bread and NO pickles for a week

And hoard pencils for dialing the phone.

But now we must have clothes from Barney’s that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not dare to be too sweet

And set a good example for the chickens.

We must have friends to dinner and keep up on the gossip.

But maybe I ought to practise a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear caftans.”
