Cows are docile by nature but like horses they fear dogs and will stomp a bitch if it gets too close.

Hi, moo cows. Why yet another new thread?

I thought you moo cows might enjoy this Instamoo account, The Gentle Barn. It’s for a farm animal sanctuary in California, and the account features many cows.

That’s not an approved name, R1. Btw, what did she name you?

R3, I hear we get paywalled after 50 posts, so to allow everycow to post, we have to create new threads after 50.

Good day, steers and queers, and cows! Welcome to Monday Morning Moos! Feeling blue? Did you forget to moo? Well, hop to it!
I’m heading down to the gate. The stream is still running and I’m going for a swim before it runs dry for the Summer. I’ve no masks left, so I’m wearing my caftan over my head. It’s just us gals, so I can’t see anyone calling Barnyard Security.

Moo on Monday Eve.
Behold the Longhorn Cowfish, now stocked in the west gate pond.

We’re gonna need a fresh copy, Gertie.

Darn you, R25! I think you wrote that same thing three years agoL. I thought I fixed it, . I think the trailing ‘T” was originally a “tab” spacer that got misinterpreted by the computers as the list was copied from one site to another,

Tommy (R64), do you love to moo in the summer when the steak sizzles? Or in the winter when the spit drizzles?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 26, 2020 1:33 AM |
Cole, you asked about seasons...
If ever I would leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer
I never would go.
Your hair streaked with sunlight,
Your lips red as flame,
Your face with a luster
That puts gold to shame!
But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn
I never will know.
I've seen how you sparkle
When fall nips the air.
I know you in autumn
And I must be there.
If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in springtime?
Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?
Oh, no! not in springtime,
Summer, winter or fall,
No, never could I leave you at all

A few years ago, my uncle had 4 cows on his farm. And he had two pet goats. The goats were playful and liked to antagonize the cows. One day, I watched as the two goats approached the four cows who were grazing in the field. The cows kept eating grass, ignoring the goats. One goat walked right up to one of the cows and got directly in front of her. Then he stood up on his hind legs and started swinging his front legs towards the goat...just like a boxer! He didn't actually hit the cow, but the second time he did it, the cow got annoyed. She put her head down and stamped her foot like she was going to charge the goat. The two goats ran away. The cow didn't chase, but instead went back to eating grass.

*** BREAKING *** MOO *** BREAKING ***
I just found this restaurant for cows in Boston. About time, as bovines are still an underserved community here. Did you know that Boston Common used to be a cow pasture? I have an ancestor who was one of the first cows to graze there. I’m mooved because I’m old enough to remember those signs in front of most retail businesses, stating “No Irish or Cows”. I’ve met a lot of Irish people. They’re not all rapists and murderers. Some of them, I assume, are good people. ☘️
I see Jenny had a birthday party at Mooo, which is confusing because that is definitely not an approved cow name. There have been complaints, is all I’m authorized to say on the matter.

That’s interesting because, some of you may recall, the story behind Brokeback Mountain was that the sheep were seasonally quartered in mountain pastures, too, and brought down the mountain as the season changed. I guess it’s a “thing”.

OMG, Gals! It’s today! Today is Cow Appreciation Day! What are you doing? I’m going to the Mooo restaurant from R126. I’ve been saving for weeks. It’s very sophisticated dining!
by Anonymous | reply 138 | July 14, 2020 3:18 PM |
Moo cows (aka future steaks), the Gentle Barn is love on Instagram.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | July 15, 2020 7:27 PM |
Live not love.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | July 15, 2020 7:27 PM |
Well, that Mooo restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. Cocktails were fine, though pricy. As for appetizer, just the standard iceberg lettuce or arugula. Asparagus, which is not date food, if you know what I mean. Eight varieties of potatoes. Sea food, but what kind of cow eats lobster? And cadavers, which I didn’t understand at all. I suppose it was supposed to be “art” of some kind. Hrumph. Ferdinand wanted to walk out, but I used to work in the biz, you know, so I insisted we at leave a dandelion as a tip. I gave them one hoof.
We went to the zoo after and Mother Moose made us peanut butter and lichen sandwiches which was just perfect. Five hooves for her!
by Anonymous | reply 141 | July 16, 2020 2:29 PM |

Oh, moo, for Cow’s sake!
Goof day, Sir! Good Day Madam! Good day, you intersexed wonders! Have a happy day, and remember to hug a cow on your way about town! It will do you both wonders, I promise!

by Anonymous | reply 146 | July 20, 2020 3:28 PM |
Condolences, Mortimer, that shouldn’t happen to a dog! No offenses Rolf.

You moo cows are getting lazy and forgetful.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | August 4, 2020 4:24 PM |
MOO! Where the heck has Gertie been?
by Anonymous | reply 155 | August 4, 2020 5:18 PM |
Gertie’s vet has been trying to kill her since March. She went in there and “🔥Moooooed 🔥“ like a cow with distemper last Monday. She’s had pneumonia for 4 and 1/4 months during a deadly global pulmonary pandemic for Cow’s sake!
I really want to moo but it comes out like “Moo/cough/cough/wheeze/choke/cough/wheeze/cough/cough”. I may need a surrogate this month. Please submit your CV to the Christmas Moose at his office on Gramercy Park. Moosie has full power of attorney, though Lafitte is doing all the work, natch.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | August 5, 2020 5:46 AM |
Sending out a moo to Gertie, feel better, old girl. If you aren't up to it, I volunteer to lead the mooing for you tomorrow.
I don't moo, of course, but my bagawk always gets a reply from one of you cows.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | August 10, 2020 12:29 AM |
I'm up early anyway, I'll help!
by Anonymous | reply 158 | August 10, 2020 12:32 AM |
I saw the headline and thought it was YET ANOTHER Chrissy Metz thread.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | August 10, 2020 12:38 AM |
How can the Christmas Moose have an office on Gramercy Park on a docent's salary which is paid in peanuts? As we all know, being a DL/Mediapolis mascot isn't a high-paying gig and Santa pays slave wages at best for pulling his sleigh (although he pays more for pulling other things).
by Anonymous | reply 160 | August 10, 2020 1:36 AM |
Moosie is a grand master high stakes whist player and dabbles in bitcoin. He is also a spokesmoose for Florsheim shoes and is really popular in Japan. They love him there.

It’s Monday so get crackin’, cows! Gertie, I made you chicken soup, feel better.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | August 10, 2020 9:05 PM |
Moo, Phyllis. The power in our barn went out last Tuesday and we still don’t have it back, so a quick moo and I’m gone.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | August 10, 2020 9:08 PM |
So, what is my name? Chopped liver?
by Anonymous | reply 164 | August 10, 2020 9:54 PM |
Thank you, Phyllis and my barnyard friends. I’m feeling much better today. I can even “moo”, which I will get to in a moment.
It’s a good time to be a cow. I’m grateful for that. Moo!
by Anonymous | reply 165 | August 17, 2020 3:12 PM |
Moo! Join us for gin and clover down at the gate, we’re welcoming back Gertie.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | August 17, 2020 7:40 PM |
Except Gertie hasn’t shown up yet. Do you think she’s lost again?
by Anonymous | reply 167 | August 17, 2020 7:41 PM |
She’s at the gate.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | August 17, 2020 7:55 PM |
Am I too late?
I went to visit my friends the night Donkeys and their gal-pal the dwarf horse. I brought carrots, but ate them on the way. I could use a gin and clover, those girls are sober you know.
Nice house, though,
by Anonymous | reply 169 | August 17, 2020 11:51 PM |
I woke up this morning too early, stretched, mooed and went back to sleep.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | August 24, 2020 7:10 AM |
Mooo! Moo to all and please come back to the Gate to pick up your barn keys, Roy. No more gin and clover for you.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | August 24, 2020 11:50 PM |
Moo, moo, moo! It’s so good to moo again. I see the ear, snout, and throat vet this week, Followed by the Pulmonologist, to see if I’ve finally cleared hoof and mouth disease from my system. I’ve had it since March, and I really want to speak with the manager about this because it shouldn’t have taken 5 months to diagnose and fix this.
It can make you susceptible to cowpox so I’ve had to be really careful about socializing this year. I completely missed the Newport yachting season. Well, there are better times to come.
Moo!
by Anonymous | reply 172 | August 31, 2020 9:18 PM |
You have been missed, Gertie. Glad to hear you’re finally on the mend, I worried that someone had “taken you behind the barn,” so to speak. Moo to all, and thanks to those who chipped in to bail me out.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | August 31, 2020 9:30 PM |
Let’s have a welcome-back-Gertie film fest down by the barn tonight.
Gertie’s choice, what do you say old girl?
by Anonymous | reply 174 | August 31, 2020 9:37 PM |
Oh I forgot to moo at r174.
Moo and moo, to you and you and you
by Anonymous | reply 175 | August 31, 2020 9:39 PM |
Ha! You expect me to believe that, Gertie?
Everyone knows you’ve been carrying on and floating around with Günther In his big balloon for weeks. AND you have hickeys.

R177 there are exceptions for foreign cow names. It can be very complicated. She seems nice enough, so I’m not going to fuss about it.
R174, how about either [italic] “Cloverfield“, [/italic] or perhaps [italic] “Children of the Corn”. [/italic]
And r176, I didn’t have any hickeys. I did have some ticks, I must confess, and that may have led to some confusion. That’s all cleared up now, too. Lyme test negative! Moo-moo!
by Anonymous | reply 178 | August 31, 2020 10:54 PM |
My dentist asked me to postpone my routine visit until I get the “all clear” from the pulmonologist. My hairstylist, not Roy, he was in the hoosegow at the time, took my temperature before cutting my hair, and she wore a full facial shield. I had to cancel my Rolfer, just in case. This is the worst year ever.

by Anonymous | reply 184 | September 1, 2020 12:34 AM |
R183, it’s amazing that cows tolerate all that. Don’t vets stick their arms up their poopers too, to feel for a developing calf?

Oh shit! As soon as I saw this story I thought of a hiking experience a few years ago in Austria. I was in the Alps and the train went right by a group of cows grazing, and they weren't enclosed by a fence. Now I don't feel so stupid for being concerned and opting to go another way to avoid them.

R233, I think maybe that train should be enclosed by a fence, not the cows! Old trains used to have “cow catchers” on their front engine. That sounds nice.
Attached is a picture of Sextus. Are you still with us, honey? Then I think in the back, that’s Melrose, Horns, Penelope then I’m not sure.

Keep in mind that that could be a temporary Primetime wall, but at 1:15am EST, I doubt it. Strikes me as a permanent paywall by default (I could be wrong.)
