Because this is the only acceptable kind of gay representation television and straight people understand and are comfortable with. The very notion that a gay person doesn't clearly delineate themselves in these few, simple, easy to spot ways would terrify and confuse them!

I'm a gay actor. To me I seem pretty gay-ish if you pay attention, but I'm never cast as gay characters because I'm not "gay the right wa.y" I don't present the way these guys do to comfort and guide the viewers. At least that's my observation.
