I've liked most of the ones I was around to experience (I discovered DL in 2013). One that hasn't been mentioned so far is that thread about the gay man whose boyfriend wasn't allowed to sit with him at his brother's wedding. A DLer got in touch with a real-life, recently-married couple by posting to their wedsite. Hilarity ensued.
The "fixded" cheeseburger thread was one of the stupidest threads ever.
Currently, I'm enjoying the background talent threads. Who knew so many of us had these stories to tell?

I like ones about scary or dangerous hookups. You have to do a search on Google for them, they don't come up on DL searches.

Honorable mention, the guy stalking his young daughter over a purloined can of frosting. I once ate a can of Betty Crocker frosting while home sick and lived in fear for quite some time that my mom would find out. 😆

People who Poop in stores was already mentioned, but definitely a good one.
I'm disappointed in you bitches for not having already mentioned, "The Masturbating Temp."
I personally also loved the Gymnastics Threads (starting with Kathy Johnson). I still laugh hysterically at those threads. Definitely entertaining if you followed the sport.

I like ones about hookups or affairs with Catholic priests.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 28, 2022 8:19 AM |
The one about Mama Gunt and the trailer trash family that got thrown off a plane was one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever read. It was a true moment of Datalounge solidarity, as we were too busy bagging on the family members to fight with each other. Sadly I have no link, but if someone else does, you'd make my week.
Also, this thread about REAL disco is a favorite.

Wasn’t there a thread where a guy was at his desk at work - I don’t remember if he took a laxative or medicine. He was sitting in his cubicle and sorry - shat himself. As I recall the whole thread was him typing in real time trying to figure out how to get from his desk and walk through the office in front of his co workers so he could clean himself up. All the while DL was giving him suggestions. I’m sorry - it was laugh out loud funny!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 2, 2022 6:36 AM |
R49, I’m the OP of the original thread and had no idea about the DL helping to catch the killer.
I posted the article because I lived in DC and thought it was strange a man was murdered in a hotel room near his house, and his wife reported him missing. I also stayed at the hotel he died in and knew it was popular with gay men.
I had no hand in coining the phrase “soft butch sous chef,” but after being attacked as soon as I posted the story, I was surprised how it captures DL’s attention.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 2, 2022 7:03 AM |
Definitely the MichFest threads. They were crazy but it's such a complete shame those women had that one thing they wanted taken away from them.

What Was Your Favorite Helen Lawson Show?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 2, 2022 7:18 AM |
I loved the threads where DL took field trips to other sites to troll them.
Like IHOP, International House Of Prayer, where we confessed, in lurid detail, our harlotry.
The Houston Pastor's birthday party, where she demanded Gucci & LV purses to get in, and Prophetess Juanita "Jazz Hands" Byrnum had a few things to say.
And the English messageboard about Maddie, the missing girl, where Lee Anne DeVette caused a riot by starting a "She Had it Coming!" thread.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 2, 2022 5:37 PM |
This thread is the best one, thanks OP for posting. I am laughing like I haven’t in a long time just reading some of the links posted.
Special thanks to [R48] for reminding us of the cilantro debacle.

The thread involving a trick and some expensive cheese and towels or was it a trick and meatballs and towels?

r61, it was a thread in which the OP overdid it the night before and had consumed too much butterfish.
The oily stool had started to sluice.

Definitely Let's Pretend We're Sumarian Housewives, and the Mitch Fest threads. Oh God, the hilarity of organising the bus. I've forgotten the names of all the characters.

I love all the BILL TAYLOR threads, and The Doorman thread just cracked me up big time, for some reason. I probably sounded like a crazy person to my neighbors when reading that thread, as I cackled BIG time during that thread.

Rob & Heidi Beer: The Most Boring Couple in America
DL follows the life of a boring Midwestern couple until they have their first child via the husband's blog. The comment "The gays love the Beers!" made me laugh for days.

Twice as long? Ugh I don't read any threads longer than a hundred or so.
So, can I end a sentence with so?

The Chris Burrous threads were both hilarious and extremely sad.

That thread series was classic. I loved whoever came up with the "special needs" version of Eric.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 10, 2023 5:59 PM |
That thread about Fadi and George Michael having a fight in the Maldives. Pink News wrote an article about the thread and Fadi came onto twitter raging about how it was all lies.

Loved the Robert Repulveda threads, especially when the outraged suitors themselves came on the threads to bitch. That cabin crew guy Chad was a frequent contributor and informed us that Robert was still dating his sugar daddy the whole time he was on the show.

That was “Who Is This Deluded ‘60s starlet”.
That was one of the best, because unlike the others where people were just posting funny things, in that one we were all playing along in real time trying to work out who it was. I remember furiously try to guess that morning.
Then the blog owner came along and began to tell us when we guessed incorrectly until we finally got the right answer and he refused to confirm it one way or the other. He deleted the post after that. The website was called HillPlaceBlog.
Really fun.
Does everyone remember who the starlet was? She’s still alive today so I wonder if she’s ever found out about it. Probably not.

A couple of years ago, maybe even a few years ago, there was an epic Ghostbusters thread...favorite scenes, favorite quotes, etc. It became almost like a chat, and lasted far into the night. Really memorable, and funny.
