Also, why does the financial relationship between Smollett and his manager pertain to the cops veryfying his whereabouts? Isn't this another way of saying that Smollet could have ordered his manager to lie for him?

I don't get this. The other day the big news was that his entire family had "broken its silence," like the whole world was waiting breathlessly for his family to comment.

He's been losing control of the story for days now, so he's been forced to make a statement. That was why his family gave a statement a few days ago, which didn't help much. Whether or not it's true, the lack of silence has been causing problems - there's no real reason for him to be so clammed up about even saying "hello, thanks, I'm fine".

If he didn't make the statement to a reporter or by video it's just another press release put out by his PR team that he probably didn't write.

He gave a shout-out to the trans:

Even the gossip shows are complicit in this. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it seems that he went home after the attack and then some time later went to the hospital under his own steam, where he was treated and released. This EW clip, like many others, includes the statement that he's speaking out "three days after being hospitalized." "Hospitalized" implies that he was admitted for a period of time.

The story was never in his control and never was going to be. That’s why it’s so dangerous for him. Even one detail wrong (and he’s gotten many things wrong) and the whole thing collapses like a bad soufflé.

The news always says "hospitalized" even if it was treated and released. We know he was in the hospital in a gown and bed and the whole thing, and we know he was released after treatment.

That's not some kind of conspiracy that "the gossip shows are complicit" in.

I'm curious if the trans continue to scream about themselves even after he mentioned "gender non-conforming".

When it comes to Hollywood, I don't think the Smollets were all that prominent. Their sitcom in the 90s was a one season flop and the critics hated the show. Jussie and his sister Jurnee lucked out more than some of other siblings later on. The stuff about the parents being heavily involved in the civil rights movement also sounds a bit exaggerated.

I have no way of knowing if the investigation is stalled, or if there are leads on any aspect of the case. I'm sure the threat letter is tied to whatever happened/didn't happen.
