She's a looker.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 20, 2024 3:23 AM |
Ashely Biden's accent is strange.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 20, 2024 3:23 AM |
Hopefully Joe puts out a 10 minute banger, the Rabbi says the closing prayer, and we go to bed.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 20, 2024 3:23 AM |
Thank you, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 20, 2024 3:23 AM |
I had no idea that Joe Biden’s daughter was Meredith from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 20, 2024 3:23 AM |
Shut up, Meg.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 20, 2024 3:24 AM |
hmmm, Real Housewives of Wilmington. It could work.
Ashely Biden's accent is strange.
Is it the Ryan Phillippe marbles-in-the-mouth "Delaware" accent?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 20, 2024 3:25 AM |
I think she looks like Alanis Morisette.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 20, 2024 3:25 AM |
Gwen Walz looks like she wants to go to bed.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 20, 2024 3:25 AM |
Joe wiped his eyes of tears.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 20, 2024 3:27 AM |
Is Hunter going to speak?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 20, 2024 3:27 AM |
JOE!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 20, 2024 3:27 AM |
Soak in all the love, Joe.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 20, 2024 3:28 AM |
The Man! Love you Joe Biden!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 20, 2024 3:28 AM |
I hope Joe feels the love.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 20, 2024 3:28 AM |
What a difference between Joe and his daughter Ashley, and Trump and his mistress Ivanka.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 20, 2024 3:29 AM |
He needs this welcome. and I’m sure it warms his heart.
❤️
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 20, 2024 3:29 AM |
this is great. I do love seeing this.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 20, 2024 3:29 AM |
Nate Silver is a fucking idiot and Thiel plant.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 20, 2024 3:30 AM |
Gwen has to be more aware of her face-everyone’s watching.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 20, 2024 3:30 AM |
We ♥️ Joe
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 20, 2024 3:31 AM |
I love Joe too dammit.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 20, 2024 3:31 AM |
Are there going to be Doug signs on Thursday?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 20, 2024 3:32 AM |
A moment for history. America, I love you!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 20, 2024 3:32 AM |
I’m sorry but we hardly ever saw Jill Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 20, 2024 3:32 AM |
Biden is a class act - pure and simple. He's everything opposite of Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 20, 2024 3:32 AM |
Joe looks and sounds great
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 20, 2024 3:33 AM |
Walz is fighting back tears listening to Biden. What a guy.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 20, 2024 3:33 AM |
The best president in my lifetime (I'm 42). His legacy will be a great one.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 20, 2024 3:33 AM |
He sounds great tonight. If this Joe had been out every time, you'd think he could do it.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 20, 2024 3:34 AM |
Joe is a great man and a great president.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 20, 2024 3:34 AM |
I must be psychotic, er, I mean psychic.
I knew Mighty Joe was going to come out with a barnburner speech.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 20, 2024 3:34 AM |
I was born in 1949. If we're talking legislation, the best in my lifetime might be LBJ, because of the 1965 Civil Rights Act.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 20, 2024 3:36 AM |
Listen to him!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 20, 2024 3:36 AM |
I'm happy to see Joe wearing a black suit tonight. Looking good!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 20, 2024 3:36 AM |
Exactly, r31, the historical significance of what we've been through is enormous.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 20, 2024 3:37 AM |
THIS is the Joe who should have attended the debate back in June. But I am glad the way things turned out - all for the best.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 20, 2024 3:37 AM |
because of the 1965 Civil Rights Act.
Which only passed on Republican votes because too many Democrats voted against it.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 20, 2024 3:38 AM |
How long before Trump calls the audience a cult?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 20, 2024 3:38 AM |
The best president in my lifetime (I'm 42).
And a moron.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 20, 2024 3:39 AM |
He sounds great tonight. If this Joe had been out every time, you'd think he could do it.
I agree.
I actually believe Joe when he says he bowed-out not because he didn't think he could win, but because his staying in would have rendered such a terrible split in the party.
But I also think he is too old and lacks the stamina to summon that everyday energy to be an active campaigner.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 20, 2024 3:39 AM |
R47: Also 42 and I cosign the best of my lifetime. You can cope, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 20, 2024 3:39 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 20, 2024 3:40 AM |
I agree, R48, and approaching 85 by term's end. Too much.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 20, 2024 3:41 AM |
We don’t know if Harris can win but BIDEN CANT BE DEPENDED UPON! Thank him-good bye.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 20, 2024 3:42 AM |
"I watch DNC with orange man. We sit - how you say? - miles away, opposite end of couch. I only say one zing to him tonight - you stay far away from Heinz ketchup tonight. Spanish maid have tomorrow off. Can't clean up walls."
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 20, 2024 3:42 AM |
R45, those Democrats are now the backbone of the GOP, having left the Democrats in droves after the passage of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts.
Do try to keep up.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 20, 2024 3:43 AM |
lol at Nancy with We Love Joe sign
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 20, 2024 3:43 AM |
Compare Biden's speech against Trump's unhinged mess at his convention. Republicans are done.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 20, 2024 3:43 AM |
He deserves, and has earned, in the phrase of sports radio star Jim Rome, to use this speech to "self-gloss".
And it all has the virtue of being true.
Apparently, the good-sense decision was made to cut James Taylor or asked him to go on after Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 20, 2024 3:43 AM |
And a moron.
Fuck off, asshole. Consider your MAGAt ass blocked!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 20, 2024 3:44 AM |
When will Joe get to the Hannibal Lechter part of his speech ?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 20, 2024 3:44 AM |
Apparently, the good-sense decision was made to cut James Taylor or asked him to go on after Biden.
Wasn't Chris Coons supposed to speak as well?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 20, 2024 3:44 AM |
You whores are still trotting out that old nonsense r45? Nobody cares, least of all the neoconfederates that dominate your party, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 20, 2024 3:45 AM |
He really has had an incredibly consequential term.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 20, 2024 3:45 AM |
R60, he did. Before Jill.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 20, 2024 3:45 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 20, 2024 3:46 AM |
What's Trump doing?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | August 20, 2024 3:46 AM |
R40 to r45, First, mea culpa. I meant the 1964 Civil Rights Act. 1965 was the Voting Rights Act.
Nonetheless, your post does not negate mine. The "goalpost" for legislative achievements is always who is the sitting President.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 20, 2024 3:47 AM |
lol at Nancy with We Love Joe sign
Tough love.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | August 20, 2024 3:47 AM |
Ordering more ketchup, r65.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 20, 2024 3:48 AM |
Biden is on fire tonight!
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 20, 2024 3:51 AM |
He's working the bejesus out of that crowd. Keep it up Joe!
by Anonymous | reply 70 | August 20, 2024 3:51 AM |
A normal person would be HUMILIATED they got booted off their own ticket. And somehow Grampa doesn't seem to realize it.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 20, 2024 3:51 AM |
Good thing Joe's going on vacation tomorrow because the effort he's expending tonight will cause one hell of a nap tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | August 20, 2024 3:52 AM |
When is Kamala going to explain her participation in hiding Bidens decline?
Right after Pence, JD Vance, Gym Jordan, Lindsay Graham, Mitch McConnell, and the rest of the Trump sycophants explain their participation in hiding Trump's decline. And it seems like that will be happening just as soon as Trump releases his 'audited' tax returns, as he promised us he'd do in 2016.
For those keeping track, it's been an 8+ year audit. The IRS audit software must be slow.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | August 20, 2024 3:52 AM |
R71: Well You Shut The Fuck Up, Man?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | August 20, 2024 3:52 AM |
R60: He did, he kept it tight, to his credit.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | August 20, 2024 3:53 AM |
A normal person would be HUMILIATED they got booted off their own ticket. And somehow Grampa doesn't seem to realize it.
Who knows what he understands anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | August 20, 2024 3:54 AM |
Just because I'm so damn old! LOL. God bless him. Great speech.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | August 20, 2024 3:54 AM |
We've got the sad little Maga people pissing themselves tonight. Or crapping the bed like their dear leader.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | August 20, 2024 3:54 AM |
He's the loser!
It kills Trump that he'll ALWAYS be the loser versus Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | August 20, 2024 3:54 AM |
R71 is a little MAGA foot soldier, trying to stir some shit tonight, defending Charlie Kirk on a different thread.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | August 20, 2024 3:55 AM |
Who knows what he understands anymore.
He understands we're going to kick your sad cunt of a cult leader's ass in November. he understands that.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | August 20, 2024 3:55 AM |
I love Joe, but occasionally he veers into sounding like an old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn instead of forceful president.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | August 20, 2024 3:55 AM |
[bold] RuPaul is hosting Kimmel tonite. [/bold] I really don't need to see this confused sad man rambling anymore. The debate was plenty.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 20, 2024 3:55 AM |
This has been a great night—they packed it with heavy hitters. Who’s left to speak this week? Kamala and Tim, of course.. I know we will see Mayor Pete, Michelle O…Shapiro? Kelly? Whitmer?
by Anonymous | reply 84 | August 20, 2024 3:56 AM |
This speech should have been in prime time. It's good. Regrettably, media being media, there'll be too much chatter about who and how the line up got over packed opening night.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | August 20, 2024 3:58 AM |
"And we will give seniors and the disabled affordable dental care. I give you my word" ----->Biden in 2020
Never happened. It's like Kamalas list of economic freebies. Instead Biden used BILLIONS to pay for charging stations for the rich people and their EVs.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | August 20, 2024 3:59 AM |
there may be r85, and I wish it had been earlier, but the fact is it's a very different era now. Anybody who wants to watch it tomorrow will be able to, and anybody who tries to make all the commentary about the timing will find themselves swamped by the commentary about the speech itself. It's just not the TV age anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | August 20, 2024 4:00 AM |
Whitmer should have spoken about reproductive rights.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | August 20, 2024 4:00 AM |
R71: per R80, you like Charlie Kirk. Do you want him, 71? Do you want to kiss him? Do you want to SEX him? Do you want to sex fivehead Charlie, 71?
by Anonymous | reply 89 | August 20, 2024 4:01 AM |
Some troll is having a very bad night...
by Anonymous | reply 90 | August 20, 2024 4:02 AM |
Monday: "For the People" — President Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Secretary Clinton, Chicago Mayor Johnson.
Who’s left to speak this week?
Tuesday: "A Bold Vision for America's Future" — President Obama, Second Gentleman Emhoff, Illinois Gov. Pritzker.
Wednesday: "A Fight for Our Freedoms" — Gov. Walz, President Clinton, Speaker Emerita Pelosi.
Thursday: "For Our Future" — Vice President Harris accepts the nomination.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | August 20, 2024 4:02 AM |
I'm sure a lot of cult members are having a bad night.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | August 20, 2024 4:02 AM |

And where are those Democrats and their descendants now? Hint: They're not Democrats anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | August 20, 2024 4:02 AM |
Someone post Joe’s speech!
by Anonymous | reply 94 | August 20, 2024 4:03 AM |
More as a mark of respect as well, 87. There are a few things from the previous era that may be worth keeping.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | August 20, 2024 4:03 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 96 | August 20, 2024 4:03 AM |
Whoa, pissed-off Joe is here!
by Anonymous | reply 97 | August 20, 2024 4:03 AM |
R73 = How sad. You're obsessed with Trump. This isn't even a Trump thread but you can't stop quoting 2015 Trump news. No one is talking about Trump. You're sick. Get help.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | August 20, 2024 4:04 AM |
Charlie Kirk sure is one fucked up looking mother fucker, isn’t he?
by Anonymous | reply 99 | August 20, 2024 4:04 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 102 | August 20, 2024 4:07 AM |
And somehow Grampa doesn't seem to realize it.
He realized that the best move for everyone was for him to forego another term. He put the country BEFORE HIMSELF, a move of which Forrest Trump is constitutionally incapable.

A Gaza protest mention, which is a lot more than Dump offered at his convention.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | August 20, 2024 4:09 AM |
This is 2016 all over again. But at least in 2016 Hillary wasn't as arrogant as Kamala.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | August 20, 2024 4:09 AM |
Tim Walz needs to tone down the compassionate face mugging
by Anonymous | reply 107 | August 20, 2024 4:10 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 108 | August 20, 2024 4:10 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 151 | August 20, 2024 4:39 AM |
Listen, you Trumptards. You had better learn fast, for your sake, that Trump's opponent is not still-President Biden.
So go ahead; mention that debate; denigrate the very idea of government careers (government is the largest employer in the US); say whatever you want about Joe Biden.
YOU LOST TO HIM. By 7 MILLION VOTES.
And your candidate, nuttier than ever, is the punch-drunk boxer refusing to quit the ring even as he babbles, slurs, repeats, fantasizes, threatens, confuses, misunderstands, and lies. Always the lies.
So fine. Let Agent Orange go down for the count.
Remember, when the ocean pulls back.....
by Anonymous | reply 152 | August 20, 2024 4:40 AM |
Joe accidentally said "Kamala and I are committed to strengthening illegal immigration."
by Anonymous | reply 154 | August 20, 2024 4:41 AM |

Kamala Harris is the new Hubert Humphrey.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | August 20, 2024 5:03 AM |
The speech MAYBE could have been 15 minutes shorter. Still, I ugly cried for a good 35 minutes--like, the kind of ugly crying where you just know you're gonna wake up looking like a potato not marked for human consumption.
What a night. What a world. I am just so proud of our man. And our woman.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | August 20, 2024 5:04 AM |

R133, That's rich considering your orange convicted felon humiliates himself every time he steps in front of a microphone. He forgot what state he was in a few days ago and still thinks he's campaigning against Biden. He doesn't even know how to read a teleprompter and goes off on crazy tangents that confuse and bore his audience.
I guess you didn't see his disastrous convention speech where he rambled on for over an hour and a half and no one knew what the hell he was talking about. It's obvious that he has low energy and doesn't want to do rallies anymore because he's pissed off about the low attendance numbers. The sad sack of shit is a whiner and a loser and only the low IQ magats still follow him.

R179, Whatever helps you sleep. But the actual proven reality is that Trump lost to Biden. ASSume some imagined result of the 2024 contest as you wish.
Trump didn't defeat Joe, and to give any influence to George Clooney, probably a non-entity to a couple voting generations now, is, in a word, weird. Now had you said Taylor Swift....
No, the person who got Joe Biden to step aside, who made him see that the stakes are historically high, who basically extorted his decision, is Nancy Pelosi, his (erstwhile?) friend of fifty years.
Trump can be defeated; Father Time cannot.

I watched the entire thing on CSpan.
Raskin and Crockett were great. Shawn Fain was outstanding. Seeing all of the support for labor unions and the middle class was truly gratifying. Ashley did a moving intro for her father. Hillary and President Biden both had me ugly, ugly crying.
I loved the standing Os for Hils and Joe. So well deserved. I'm glad the trolls had to deal with them and the press had to endure them, too. Their comments on here and their complaints about having to stay up late are just bitchy baby tantruming because their guy and their sad convention both reeked of shitty diapers and loser.
Looking forward to night two.

Speaking of Pelosi, there was a moment when Biden began to say something about (paraphrase) "They're (republicans) saying I'm mad or hate other Democrats..."
It seemed like he was going to say more, and I thought, "Whoah, Ok, Joe, you're going to speak of Pelosi? Make up with her from the stage?"
but then the audience applauded about the previous thing he had said, the moment was lost and he didn't go back to it....
I think they'll be back on terms after or during his vacation. He'll reach out to her.

The timing of the applause and the cheers can result in funny moments sometimes. I remember Obama's speech at the 2016 convention when he started saying that the foreign leaders he's talking to don't understand... And this jingoistic bitch in the audience went "Yeah, USA!" as if to say we're special, no one can comprehend American politics, and we shouldn't be compared to anyone. But then Obama continued that the foreign leaders don't understand... how someone like Trump can be a viable candidate, and that frau suddenly had so much egg on her face, it shut her right up.

Some of the speakers were a perfect 10 last night — AOC, Shaun Fein, Jasmine Crockett, Hillary and of course Joe Biden for the moment and the history books.
But, Jesus, how stupid do the event planners have to be, to be saying this morning “Well gosh, we never thought there’d be so much applause and that the speakers would each talk a bit longer than expected, and that’s why Biden didn’t get to speak until midnight and the TV networks didn’t show it.”

Just the established, corny, classic accessories and clothes, which is exactly what that scarf is.
Go ahead and look down your nose at it, but if you're looking for our Power Fraus to be in edgy, fashionista, seasonal, this year's you'd-never-think-of-this-color-for-the-holidays trendy greys, purples or camels, best to stick to the coasts.

The attitude from the coasts is what brings down the Democrats, R291. That's why Dems are painted as elitist snobs, unable to connect with the common folk, the working class and the union members. This is why the entire campaign is about the heartland, the people the Dems have seemingly abandoned to the MAGAts. So, take your Anna Wintour fashion moment and blow it out your ass.

Elissa Slotkin called out those attitudes a few years ago on David Axlerod's podcast. Slotkin talked about when got to Congress, she had to deal with the coastal Democrats looking down on the Midwestern Dems. Slotkin talked about having a conflict with a colleague from the Bronx (probably AOC). She said that the Bronx colleague had the attitude that their Bronx constituents mattered more than Slotkin's constituents from mid Michigan. Slotkin said that she confronted the Bronx Congressperson and said that her Michigan constituents deserve to be represented as much as the other person's Bronx constituents. Slotkin never mentioned AOC's name, but all signs point to her being the person Slotkin had drama with. After I listened to that interview, I pretty much lost all respect for AOC.
by Anonymous | reply 295 | August 20, 2024 4:15 PM |
I also don't think Bronx girl AOC or California boy Eric Swalwell will ever end up on a presidential ticket. They don't have the down-to-earth attitudes that would appeal to people in the Midwestern states.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | August 20, 2024 4:18 PM |
I think you are reading A LOT into that r295. I don't think AOC seems the type to feel that only her constituents matter, and certainly nobody as gauche as a working class person from Michigan.
And I also am not sure anybody was really saying that. Maybe someone was questioning that "Real Americans" and heartland shit and Slotkin took it the wrong way. But I admit that's speculation. It would be interesting to see the actual conversation. I suspect it was dueling sensitivities and misinterpretations.

I wanna see Barack. Not especially interested in Michelle. and I definitely want to see Bill Clinton. He makes great speeches, and I want to see Dougie. I really like him. I know if we look at the speaking schedule it looks cluttered. But keep in mind. Every single state has people who want/need to be seen on the stage. Especially if you are running in a tight Senate Race or a Congressional race. The earlier your'e scheduled the more unimportant you are. Right now you think People are hanging out in Chicago, shopping, checking out restaurants, sightseeing, etc. (fucking) but the truth is every state delegation has breakfast together and then they meet and gets reports and information. They get their marching orders for the day, too. (And a whole new batch of signs!)

Tell-It-Like-It-Is Tim is rarin' up his "My God"s and his "Damn"s and his "IVF and our daughter Hope" to show the nation what authenticity in politics really looks and sounds like. He's clearly the Mensch We Need.
Kamala IS the Middle Class, but more than that, as a Woman of Color she is the ASPIRING Middle Class, and that group is to whom she speaks and with whom she must resonate as "one of them."
(Of course, as with taxes, always the votes of the largest demographic are sought, but I long to hear abject poverty and homelessness addressed as priority issues for the Democrats. But I guess that would be too Debbie Downer.)
On another note, haha, I find "Harris/Walz" uninspiring aurally. Normal "American" but dull. And please, NEVER "Tim"! Is that not the weakest man's name, or what?!
The Obamas and Emhoff are to headline the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday
CHICAGO (AP) — Former President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and second gentleman Doug Emhoff will speak Tuesday on the second day of the Democratic National Convention, turning the party’s attention toward Vice President Kamala Harris and her faceoff against Republican Donald Trump.
The Harris campaign said it would spotlight “trusted messengers” from battleground states over the convention’s three remaining days. They include Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada; Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Gary Peters and Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan; Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin. From Arizona, Sen. Mark Kelly will speak along with John Giles, the Republican mayor of Mesa.

Gov. Roy Cooper of North Carolina — a state that voted for Trump in 2020 but is now a major pickup opportunity for Harris — will be among the final speakers before Harris accepts the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday.

People forget that Bill Clinton's convention speech in 2016 is credited with saving Obama's re-election chances. R342, I have said this since 2016.
Barack wanted not only to BE historic; he wanted to MAKE history via playing Queenmaker to The First Woman President. Hubris.
OF COURSE JOE WANTED TO RUN in 2016! FGS, he was Vice-President! He deserved the chance and endorsement as much as had Bush 41 or Al Gore.
Would Biden have won in 2016? He won in 2020, so.....Strong "Possibly." At the VERY least, he would have been 73, not 77 or 81.
But in 2016 as in 2024, Joe Biden put his country before his own substantial ambition.
Only Barack Obama bet on the wrong horse. I can believe that the subsequent awfulness of the Trump Administration, and even before there WAS a Trump Administration (January 6), so enraged and offended Biden that he found it difficult to forgive Obama's 2016 undercutting of him.
So is there bad blood between the Obamas and Bidens? I believe so. Is there bad blood between the Obamas and the Harrises? I doubt it. Kamala has shed her connection to Joe pretty readily. Of course, Michelle might get jealous! (I'm the only Democrat who cares not for her.)
by Anonymous | reply 352 | August 20, 2024 7:45 PM |
R342 that is laughably baseless gossip. First, Michelle?? She is not Pelosi, she was not engaging in D Party Power Politics at the time.
VP Biden in late 2015 had just lost his son Beau to cancer and it devastated him for a while, compounded by his earlier family tragedy. He was not in a campaigning/competitive head space vs the Clinton Machine. He just wasn’t. He said so openly and he meant it.
Michelle Obama had clean hands on that one. She pretty much always does.

As for Michelle, she can have that loser high road to herself.
by Anonymous | reply 355 | August 20, 2024 8:18 PM |
Besides, the question remains: WHY did Obama prefer HRC to Joe IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Because Obama is an uptight, tight ass, cut throat.
He may not like Hillary, but he respects her game play.
But Obama has never respected Joe.
He picked Joe Biden because he was useful in getting blue collar whites to vote for him in 2008. That's all.
But he has always felt like Joe is undisciplined, too "off the cuff," and rough around the edges.
Obama is prissy and effete.
Joe Biden is blue collar, working class, Middle America.
I've never liked Obama, but I've always loved Joe and I wanted him to be President in 2008.
In my opinion, he would have been far more effective back then, especially with 8 years in the White House.

After John McCain's death, there was an effort to honor him by renaming the Russell Senate Building, named after segregationist Democrat Richard Russell, who served Georgia in the US Senate from 1933-1971. David Perdue, a Republican Senator from Georgia killed the effort, supporting the legacy of his fellow Georgian.

R335 is absolutely right. I Remember it well. Obama messed up a debate too in 2012. Bill gave one hell of an analysis and advocated for the record and justification to re elect Obama at the convention.Obama even joked about Bill being his "Explainer in Chief" The race between Romney and Obama was closer than it should have been. Obama finally turned it around at the other debate.

And then start a Tuesday thread. Parts are used to connect threads that go over 600 posts.

r490, I am a person who hates to see people fuck up threads when they do not know what they have done.
I am also a person who teaches how to properly load a New Thread.
List the name of the thread and then a few sentences in the original post.
If you have a screed to load, post it in the R1. That way, people on their phones do not have to scroll past all of your nonsense.
It is simply a consideration.

There is some bad blood between Michelle O and the Bidens. MO became firm friends with Hunter's ex-wife, Kathleen, when she was in the WH.
