So Election Day's FL votes haven't been included yet right? If that's the case, it's going to 45 unfortunately

by Anonymousreply 25November 3, 2020 11:55 PM

Will McConnell want to stick around if he loses control of the Senate? I could see an early retirement for him especially if it is a large Demo majority.

by Anonymousreply 27November 3, 2020 11:55 PM

To be fair, NYC will be underwater one day too. Just not as early as FL

by Anonymousreply 28November 3, 2020 11:55 PM

OMG TRUMP ALWAYS HAD THE CUBANS VOTE. THEY VOTED AGAINST HILARY AND OBAMA BOTH TIMES.

It’s not about him courting them, he always had them.

by Anonymousreply 29November 3, 2020 11:56 PM

Trump did great with Cubans. That helps him Florida, but no where else.

Look to other states to see the state of the race. Its still early.

by Anonymousreply 30November 3, 2020 11:57 PM

Ohio is suddenly a good indicator. He is doing surprisingly well in blue collar counties there which bodes well for PA.

by Anonymousreply 31November 3, 2020 11:57 PM

As Ron Brownstein has written, Biden's most likely path to 270 has always been more likely to go through the Rust Belt than the Sun Belt.

Cuban Americans are getting a lot of attention right now as we’re getting results coming in from Florida. Polling from Florida International University of Cuban Americans in Miami-Dade County shows that unlike in national polls, there is really little evidence of an age divide in support for Trump among Cuban Americans in Miami.

In NC counties, Biden is consistently improving on Clinton's 2016 totals - up 5% or so - while Trump is consistently down from 2016.

No. Biden can win without Ohio if he wins MI, PA & WI.

by Anonymousreply 171November 4, 2020 12:30 AM

WI, MI and PA are the key states.

by Anonymousreply 172November 4, 2020 12:30 AM

Trump won NC by 3%. So far the big urban/suburban counties (Wake, Durham, Mecklenberg - Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte) have Biden overperforming Clinton by 5-8% with 80% of vote in.

It's gonna flip.

by Anonymousreply 173November 4, 2020 12:30 AM

Yes, NC and OH are two states that likely to flip.

But I am shocked at Kansas numbers, it's on the edge to be flipped too.

I think this has to do with suburban voters where Biden does exceptionally well. So expect all states with big suburbs to counter rural voters go for Biden.

Florida is a funky state. They don’t have much tax collection so they are really lacking in basic things like crosswalks, traffic lights etc. I was trying to cross the street in Miami and it was like running the gauntlet. Also you can feel the oppression and racism.

[quote]Georgia - ABC News is reporting that it seems Blacks have stayed home - again

Not surprising. This has been the worst year for government interaction with the Black community, in decades.

Black people have been disproportionally affected by COVID, and there has been no 2nd stimulus paid out before this election. Many have been out of work most of the year. And then GA has the nerve to make people wait 6 hours in line to vote. It is the absolute worst time to court the Black vote, faith in government is at an all time low.

Trafalgar has Ohio going to Trump so if Biden takes it then it’s a strong sign that their numbers were off in the Industrial Midwest. We need something that proves Trafalgar wrong in a big way and that would be it (along with Michigan, which they also predicted would go for Trump).

by Anonymousreply 360November 4, 2020 1:06 AM

I have been to Cuba (I'm Australian) and they privately give Cuban-Americans and Miami so much shit. They also gleefully mock Trump and Bush the way the British of all stripes do. But when they come to America, they all turn into Republicans, to a person.

Like Dominicans, they're very into their whiteness in that sad colonial way.

by Anonymousreply 368November 4, 2020 1:07 AM

They are safe at claiming projections with 4% of the vote based on previous voting patterns, registration by party and exit polls. A place like SD is a perfect example. The 4% vote mirrors all their projections based on this other data.

Jesus Christ, the other thread is more negative than this one.

For me, if this is over, it is OVER. We move on.

All we can do is be the best human beings we can be. The best folks to each other that we can be. This election truly proves that Americans are 1/2 racists and would basically vote in Hitler. That's all I need. We teeter on a very slim thread in this world. However, this man will eventually be out of office. One way or another.

Tomorrow we carry on. No matter what happens. We carry on. And I will focus on the other half of America who cares about it's people.

There are votes to be counted and reported from mail-in ballots.

There are votes to be counted and reported from early voting.

There are votes to be counted from today's voting at election sites.

Every state is doing it differently. We really don't know what we're looking at.

Then there are states where ballots will trickle in from the post office tomorrow and beyond.

Relax.

Maybe I shouldn't say this but I'm going to anyway: I can't help but fear that Russia has found a way to infiltrate our systems in order to change votes in favor of the Republicans. I honestly do. There is no way this many people are voting for Donald Trump. If he has this much support in the country, why is his approval rating never higher than 45%? I'm sorry but it just makes no sense.

by Anonymousreply 563November 4, 2020 1:46 AM

Biden ahead by 13K votes in Ohio. Real close.

by Anonymousreply 564November 4, 2020 1:47 AM

I was watching Spectrum News and they were interviewing a woman who said there have been many reports of very scary “intimidation” happening in some states but there is no coverage for it.

They seemed to rush her off after.

I assume why so many black people are staying home in many Midwestern and Southern states is due to that.

by Anonymousreply 570November 4, 2020 1:48 AM

R563. If you get outside of urban areas or blue states like CA, you would learn that Trump has a HUGE base of support. I am not surprised.

by Anonymousreply 571November 4, 2020 1:48 AM

[quote]What people are wringing their hands about is that it shouldn't be this close - if anything this should be a landslide with Trump losing every state, not winning them.

In a perfect world, it would be, but if they think Trump could possibly lose *every* state, then they're not being very realistic.

Again, Trump's not winning anything he wasn't expected to win.

by Anonymousreply 572November 4, 2020 1:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 575November 4, 2020 1:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 576November 4, 2020 1:48 AM

R359, WTF is wrong with you?

by Anonymousreply 577November 4, 2020 1:48 AM

R565 On one level, of course you're right. But if it's close the court challenges will go on and on. And there's little trust in the SCOTUS.

by Anonymousreply 578November 4, 2020 1:49 AM

[quote]Biden ahead by 13K votes in Ohio. Real close.

But if Biden can keep Trump's win narrow in Ohio, then it bodes well for Biden in MI, PA & WI.

by Anonymousreply 580November 4, 2020 1:49 AM
