Or, has our author decided to whitewash that whole angle? .. Things were quite different back in the 1940s. .. Similarly, what were the grounds for this fantasy couple's divorce? .. That would obviously be something that would inform her characters' past and present relationship. Back then, there generally had to be an "at fault" reason why one spouse could sue the other for a divorce and obtain one - typically something "scandalous" like adultery, cruelty, desertion, mental illness, etc.

God some of you are tiresome. Traci is writing a novel, a romance novel by the looks of it, and she is just envisioning Cane and Lily as the protagonists. It isn't a treatise on race relations in the 1940s or divorce laws.

In 2003, Jill's birth certificate states she was born on Sept. 29, 1957 which means she was 15 when the series began and working as a manicurist while being played by a then 24 year old Brenda Dickson. Traci said she's writing a "period piece" as well as a "mystery" novel of sorts. She also said this is the first time she's ever done something like this.
