Based on the red carpet photos, it seems like an event a lot of people don’t necessarily bring a partner or date to, so of course it was never going to be a big coming-out moment. I don’t think he’d do it that way anyway, but...not really the venue.

Yeah, it didn't seem like a plus one type event. If you look at the clips and pictures from inside it was really just the people invited mingling with each other.
