Sarah Sanders: Democrats have no problem getting together and agreeing that a baby should be ripped from the mother's womb and killed but can't say that it's wrong to hate Jewish people.
what a vile human being she is. I have never, ever heard anyone but Republicans speak like that.

And she said it in response to a question about ratcheting down the political rhetoric!

by Anonymousreply 8March 11, 2019 7:11 PM

FDR and Truman led America to help defeat Hitler and the Axis Powers, and this repulsive beast is pushing the "Democrats hate Jews" slander???

I'm flummoxed at how Republicans are now pandering for the traditionally Democratic votes of American Jews.

by Anonymousreply 9March 11, 2019 7:18 PM

Like the title.

by Anonymousreply 10March 11, 2019 7:22 PM

the repubs are desperate. They are trying to win over new voters any way they can. Most Jews are liberal. Repubs are trying to propagandize despite their own antisemitism! Look at the damn mass shooting in Pittsburgh synagogue last year! That was inspired by a white supremacist who heard Trump, some repub congressmen , Fox "News' hosts and right wing radio "news" hosts saying George Soros paid for the caravans. That inspired him to shoot up the synagogue.

Then you have the would-be pipe bomber in Florida

Then you have Charlottesville in which Trump said those titki torch carrying idiots shouting "Jews will not replace us" were "very fine people".

Then you have during the campaign Trump going to 1 Jewish group and said "you don't like me because I don't want your money"

Then you have the antisemitic repub memes about Janet Yellen

Then you have the dog whistle term "globalist" brought into the public discussion and politics by white supremacist Steve Bannon, whose wife said during their divorce documents he didn't like Jews

What Trump, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Republican politicians and their talking heads, are doing is messaging that Democrats are not supporting Israel.

It is a ploy for 2020. But more than that, Netanyahu is about to annex the Golan Heights in Israel. Syria is weak, in internal conflict for years, and Assad is a puppet of Putin. Lindsey Graham was just in Israel this weekend, and is leaving advocating annexation. Lindsey's initial photo-ops were at old tunnels by the Gaza strip, not at the Golan Heights in the north, though he was taken there. The Brazilian President is also heading to Israel to do essentially the same as Graham Lindsey did not go as part of a bi-partisan Congressional delegation. The outcome was pre-determined and timed. Netanyahu has political troubles at home and again, has been charged with corruption. Trump wanting to pull out of Syria completely, was part of a plan involving Russia that is interrelated with this matter.

Trump, Lindsey, Turtle, etc. will try to get Congress to endorse and recognize such annexation. If Democrats oppose/resist, Republicans will try to portray them as anti-Israel, those not supportive of Jews.

This fight is coming soon.

Nancy says NO IMPEACHMENT again!!!!

Some of us TOLD YOU!!!!

by Anonymousreply 16March 11, 2019 9:07 PM

No impeachment UNTIL there is support in the Senate...

by Anonymousreply 17March 11, 2019 9:29 PM

r17, which basically means NEVER, we'd have a better chance just voting him out of office in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 18March 11, 2019 9:33 PM

Christ r16, do try to show restraint, will you? And remind me to not bring you to a brawl, you don’t have street thinking.

Stone in Prison: Dickson Nixon

by Anonymousreply 20March 11, 2019 9:35 PM

Nancy's full quote follows this: There have been increasing calls, including from some of your members, for impeachment of the president.
I’m not for impeachment. This is news. I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.

She's right. Impeachment as a tool to use out of anger or frustration is wrong and won't go anywhere other than give Trump something to crow about. She knows that there needs to be substance and compelling evidence and most importantly, Senate support that would hit the President right between the eyes. They're only going to get one shot.

If they impeach then flounder, he's got all he needs to rally his supporters and moderates to win a second term. She may think at the end of the day that we're better off spending money and time to make sure a Democrat gets elected instead. Then let Justice do its thing.

I posted many threads ago that plenty of old-school politicians, and maybe even Mueller himself, believe that it is the voter's right and privilege to remove Trump from office. That would be definitive, not subject to debate or lingering conspiracy theories and would not allow Trump and his supporters a Messiah Complex.

by Anonymousreply 21March 11, 2019 9:41 PM

How will the GOP push this "Dems are anti-Semitic" nonsense if Bernie Sanders becomes the nominee? The Huckabeast isn't thinking ahead as usual.

by Anonymousreply 22March 11, 2019 9:42 PM

She can impeach the fucker every day till election day BUT he will not be removed until there is Republican support in the Senate.

by Anonymousreply 23March 11, 2019 9:42 PM

I hope Sarah realizes she will never get another job

by Anonymousreply 24March 11, 2019 9:43 PM

Hoping for Stone to go to jail but somehow I'm very doubtful.

by Anonymousreply 25March 11, 2019 9:49 PM

Oh, and one more thing about having the goods for impeachment:  Donald J Trump was names as a co-conspirator in a federal crime entered into judgment in the Southern District of NY in a plea deal accepted by a federal judge.

Since then Cohen's testimony indicates that DJT has committed crimes WHILE PRESIDENT.

In one interview she 1) let people know that they'll only address impeachment for SERIOUS business, and 2) she banged him on the nose with the "he's just not worth it" comment. You know he'll come out swinging at that.

by Anonymousreply 26March 11, 2019 9:50 PM

And now Trump is saying "Democrats hate Jewish people." Will this outrage be answered with just a shrug from the Democrats? Will Trump once again get away with another totally UNTRUE statement?

The Democrats may have won the House back last fall, but they have yet to find their spines.

by Anonymousreply 27March 11, 2019 10:07 PM

Sarah would make a great hostess at The Olive Garden.

by Anonymousreply 28March 11, 2019 10:07 PM

r22, don't worry about it, Bernie will never be the nominee.

by Anonymousreply 29March 11, 2019 10:09 PM

Hostess? She's one hell of a customer!

by Anonymousreply 30March 11, 2019 10:09 PM

I like the shade thrown, "He's just not worth it" from Madame Speaker, who is signalling that she thinks he's a total piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 31March 11, 2019 10:13 PM

"She's right. Impeachment as a tool to use out of anger or frustration is wrong and won't go anywhere other than give Trump something to crow about. She knows that there needs to be substance and compelling evidence."

So she's saying the Mueller report will have nothing damaging to say about Trump, i.e. no collusion with Russians. In other words, as DJT himself would say, this entire thing has been a witch hunt, no?

by Anonymousreply 32March 11, 2019 10:20 PM

No, that’s not what she said at all, R32. Are you people garden variety trolls or just profoundly stupid?

by Anonymousreply 33March 11, 2019 10:22 PM

Even if the Mueller report is a "nothing burger," as the Administration will phrase it, Trump, his kids, and his minions can bleed out and die by a thousand cuts in the next 20 months from multiple State, Federal, and Congressional investigations.

by Anonymousreply 34March 11, 2019 10:23 PM

Death by a thousand cuts would be so nice.

by Anonymousreply 35March 11, 2019 10:25 PM

So Nancy is pulling her "no impeachment" shit again and the news is now saying it seems likely that Trump will pardon Manafort.

What a great Monday!

by Anonymousreply 36March 11, 2019 10:28 PM

Hand me the weapon R36 and I'll be happy to accommodate you.

by Anonymousreply 37March 11, 2019 10:30 PM

I think Nancy has a lot of inside info about Trump's crimes and knows there's no reason to impeach him, he'll be gone soon enough.

by Anonymousreply 38March 11, 2019 10:33 PM

Trump's budget came out today. Huge cuts in Medicaid and Medicare. I think Nancy knows that Dems have to be health care issue driven, not impeachment. But let the hearings keep on. The big stuff will have a bigger impact when it is discovered. But in the meantime, Dems are for the middle class.

by Anonymousreply 39March 11, 2019 10:39 PM

I agree, R38. “The problem will be eliminated” without Dems getting blood on their hands. It will be like what happens on Big Brother!

by Anonymousreply 40March 11, 2019 10:40 PM

It’s 7:15pm EST. Why hasn’t Stone been thrown in jail yet? Where is this decision by Judge Jackson?

by Anonymousreply 41March 11, 2019 11:14 PM

I think you mean EDT

by Anonymousreply 42March 11, 2019 11:15 PM
How will the GOP push this "Dems are anti-Semitic" nonsense if Bernie Sanders becomes the nominee? The Huckabeast isn't thinking ahead as usual.

Don't be so sure.

They might know the likelihood of BS getting nom is slim and so they ARE thinking ahead so they can implant the idea to dumbass Sanders supporters that the Dems stole it from him "again" because he's a Jew and so they might as well not vote or vote for Dotard because a vote for Dotard is the same as a vote for anyone else who isn't Bernie!!!

by Anonymousreply 43March 11, 2019 11:17 PM

No, I meant Eastern Standard Time. But anyway, I screwed up.

Judge Jackson’s decision whether to throw Stone in jail isn’t until this Thursday

by Anonymousreply 44March 11, 2019 11:18 PM

Are the Democrats coming out with a response to Trump and Fox "News" calling their party antisemitic? They need to do a reminder of all the shit repubs, Trump and Fox "News" have done in recent years. That's where they fail-the Democrats allow conservatives to set the narrative even if it's completely false. No response lets it linger for a longer time and for moderates/independents to believe it.

by Anonymousreply 45March 11, 2019 11:19 PM

Nancy is smart. She didn't say no impeachment ever. She said if something really big that changed the game. She knows a lot. Don't be so sure she is setting this up for the Dems to seem reasonable (they are) and when the big shit hits the fan, and Pres Bone Spurs is shown to have committed high crimes and misdemeanors, she will look like the voice of reason (and she is).

by Anonymousreply 46March 11, 2019 11:21 PM

I thought it was today as well. Thanks for the correction r44. And I've been screwing up all day. I blame that lost hour of sleep.

by Anonymousreply 47March 11, 2019 11:21 PM

Democrats need to remind everyone that it's the Rethugs who constantly say there are some KKK Nazis are "good people."

by Anonymousreply 48March 11, 2019 11:22 PM

and don't forget Fox "News" sometimes has as a contributor pastor Jeffries. He is on tape saying Jews cannot be saved, are going to hell and that "Hitler was part of God's plan to create Israel." This same pastor was invited by Trump to speak at the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem.

by Anonymousreply 49March 11, 2019 11:26 PM

That's disgusting r49.

Thank God I don't watch FOX.

by Anonymousreply 52March 11, 2019 11:30 PM

Someone help me out because I can no longer keep track of all this shit.

Drumpf and company all claim Stormy, Avenatti, and Cohen are full of shit and that no hush money was ever paid to Stormy, right?

But didn't he also threaten to sue Stormy for breaking the NDA?

So..... how exactly does that work?

by Anonymousreply 53March 11, 2019 11:32 PM

r53, I realize it's not logical but "it never happened and any way the little whore was asking for it" is the universal response to allegations of sexual impropriety.

by Anonymousreply 54March 11, 2019 11:35 PM

Miss Graham can visit Turkey, Saudia Arabia, Israel, etc., but can't make it to decrepit South Carolina and give attention and resources to its own statewide Gaza.
R21: I posted many threads ago that plenty of old-school politicians, and maybe even Mueller himself, believe that it is the voter's right and privilege to remove Trump from office.

I’m all for Nancy’s strategy. She hasn’t actually changed position, just calmed things down -

However, if the Mueller report is week, Trump will take a victory lap with his “no collusion no collusion no collusion” mantra, and it could strengthen him. I hope Mueller realizes how Comey strengthened Trump and doesn’t repeat his mistake. If he doesn’t have anything to prosecute [italic] within his purview, [/italic] I hope he says “Trump is a slimy criminal not worthy of the American Presidency, but his crimes are out of my scope of prosecution, and I must leave it to the other prosecutors and the Congress to deal with this disgusting pig” or similar.

by Anonymousreply 58March 12, 2019 12:28 AM

by Anonymousreply 59March 12, 2019 12:28 AM
R39: Trump's budget came out today. Huge cuts in Medicaid and Medicare.

My Deplorable brother copied me on a mass email during the Obama years about Obama taking ~$700 billion from Medicare to use for Obamacare. What actually happened was Obama reduced reimbursement to providers, he didn’t cut benefits. But what is the story with this? And will the Deplorables get excited about it?

I have no patience for him anymore.

by Anonymousreply 60March 12, 2019 12:33 AM

In the 116th Congress, which commenced on January 3, 2019, there are 28 Jewish members in the House and nine in the Senate. At least 36 of those are Democrats or caucus with the Democrats. So please explain to me again, why it is the Democrats who hate Jews?

by Anonymousreply 61March 12, 2019 12:38 AM
R53:But didn't he also threaten to sue Stormy for breaking the NDA?

He maintains it was a private payment and not a violation of campaign finance laws.

IIRC, campaign finance laws are unusual because you have to be aware you are breaking the law and with that intent, or it isn’t illegal.

by Anonymousreply 62March 12, 2019 12:43 AM

R61, Trump just says shit. Facts and evidence are immaterial.

I don't believe Nancy Pelosi would tip her hand re impeachment. I mean - why would she? It's not going to stop those calling for impeachment from continuing to call for it. The way I see it, Pelosi is totally toying with Trump. She knows something and she's just biding her time until her political instincts tell her it's time to pounce. Then Trump won't know what hit him.

by Anonymousreply 67March 12, 2019 2:29 AM

yeah there are 2 ways of looking at it. Some people think Pelosi is telegraphing to us that there's not enough in the Mueller report to indict Trump (if he weren't President). The other way of looking at it is Pelosi is downplaying everything and knows there is a lot of very damaging info that will come out. Then she can pretend to act shocked and say it's time to impeach. Remember, while Mueller knows the most, members of Congress know a lot more than the public and press.

by Anonymousreply 68March 12, 2019 2:33 AM

Pelosi is going to hold her cards and hold the impeachment over his head if he doesn't resign.

by Anonymousreply 69March 12, 2019 2:45 AM

I don't see why people are making such a big deal out of this and the media is hyping it, using it to insist "the Democrats are divided." The Republicans trivialized the impeachment process by making it highly partisan. It is a Constitutionally mandated process for the removal of a President.

Pelosi is correct. She wants there to be compeliing evidence. That means she wants the evidence to be irrefutable and obvious so people in this country can look at what the evidence says and acknowledge that it rises to the "high crimes and misdemeanors" standard. There will always be about 30% of the public who will ignore it, but we need to make sure public opinion acknowledges the offenses for what they are.

Secondly she said Bi Partisan... and this is a must. Maybe it will only be 18 GOP Senators, maybe only a half dozen GOP House members, but we need it to be bi partisan so it doesn't look like a petty squabble or a coup. THe eyes of the world will be on us.

And third, the Republicans will use Pelosi, who the love to demonize, and Impeachment, as a battle cry to rally their base and possibly to incite violence. We cannot give in to that. They are already saying we intend to run on impeachment. But according to internal polling voters want to discuss healthcare and other issues like the Environment. Only about 22% want the Dems to run an angry, anti-Trump campaign.

She knows exactly what she is doing and anyone who thinks she is not working on the Republicans, to line them up is a fool. What she said, she said to reassure her Republican colleagues that this is not going to be a small matter. But Nancy is definitely preparing for Impeachment. She just doesn't want it to appear precipitous.

by Anonymousreply 70March 12, 2019 2:52 AM

Concur r67 r68

I believe Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, Schiff, etc., (some Democrats, some Republicans) know information that hasn't been disclosed. If impeachment jumps out too far in front, new disclosures could get muddled. On this situation, building a case has to be converging. There are hundreds of small pieces to pull together for a coherent argument with irrefutetable evidence. Some of those pieces are stand alone crimes, but vulnerable to defense attacks without the tie-ins to a larger narrative(s).

by Anonymousreply 71March 12, 2019 2:59 AM

Ok listen, you have oversight in the house. That didn't happen, that's why the Doj, Mueller, is investing.

That investigation in the house is separate and apart from what the house does.

Impeachment is a political act. Muellers report isn't needed.

These are weird times. But let's be clear: the house does not need muellers report.

by Anonymousreply 72March 12, 2019 3:04 AM
yeah there are 2 ways of looking at it. Some people think Pelosi is telegraphing to us that there's not enough in the Mueller report to indict Trump (if he weren't President).

No one in Congress knows what’s in the Mueller report.

She’s toying with Trump. Notice she said “He’s not worth it.” Think about what that sounds like to Trump.

If I were Nancy, I'd be saying the same thing and then in the background make certain that every committee investigates Trump day and night. Publicly, I'd be saying let's focus on issues that matter to the voters like health care, social security, et al but would make certain that Trump was dying the death of a thousand cuts through new revelations each week. By 2020, it won't be worth it to impeach him. It's better to vote him out of office and then have the whole cabal arrested at the inauguration of the new Democratic president.

by Anonymousreply 79March 12, 2019 3:29 AM

Nadler said that it is possible Trump might commit crimes which are "not impeachable" or that he can be impeached for actions that are not "crimes." Not sure WTF he meant.

by Anonymousreply 82March 12, 2019 3:41 AM

I trust Nancy. She's got this. She probably knows there will be no need to impeach. He may be removed or jailed. I'm not joking. There is no need to talk of impeachment now, anyway. It makes this too political and Nancy can say the Dems are trying to unite the country.

We need to talk nonstop about his proposed cuts to Medicare. Nonstop. Nonstop. Any convo about Dems hating Jews (TF are these people smoking? Fentanyl, Meth, Crack and LSD combined?)

You propose cutting Medicare? Proceed, Pres Bone Spurs, proceed.

by Anonymousreply 83March 12, 2019 3:47 AM

R73 that is true I should have phrased it differently. Congress knows more than the public and press as they have had investigations and testimonies of classified info. So they know some of what Mueller knows from there.

That's why it's even crazier that the repubs are acting like Trump is innocent and it's all a witch hunt.

by Anonymousreply 84March 12, 2019 3:48 AM

Nancy Pelosi threw some major shade at Trump by calling him 'not worth it!

Gotta love her!

I wonder what she knows about Mueller's report and the indictments of Ivanka and her creepy alien husband and the two retarded sons.

by Anonymousreply 85March 12, 2019 3:50 AM

r85 She knows a lot. And she knows how to play this. When his family goes down, he will go berserk even more so for him. He's going to do something really stupid soon which will likely be his undoing. All criminals, when law is closing in, do something incredibly stupid. And he is incredibly stupid.

by Anonymousreply 86March 12, 2019 3:52 AM

I agree R79.

Impeachment will only work if the senate backs it and that is simply not the case. They won't get a 2/3 majority to impeach Trump and there is no time for impeachment before the election anyway.

Trump needs to be defeated in 2020, that's the most important thing!

I see indictments coming for the very inner circle. Once Trump is out of office, whether he resigns or is voted out, they can prosecute his ass and hopefully throw him in jail.

by Anonymousreply 90March 12, 2019 5:17 AM

We need journalists here who will call out people like Prince was called out and called out hard. Why do our journalists just accept when they are blatantly lied to their faces and they know they are being lied to and just move on. Prince's lie was bold and he didn't give a fuck.

This is why the people in our "president's" family and himself aren't worried about Russian collusion. They have always gotten away with everything. They've never been held accountable and they don't think they will this time. They are in for a rude awakening.........

by Anonymousreply 91March 12, 2019 5:53 AM

R91, I think the problem with the American reporters is that there are so many of them who are completely unprofessional that the professional ones know that if they start calling out people hard, those people will just go somewhere else to get a softball interview. All the journalists have to stick together and all of them have to go hard at the interviewees, otherwise, none of them can or they'll lose access. It's why our for-profit, corporate-owned news media doesn't work.

‘Get Rid of My Kids’: Trump Told Kelly to Fire His Children, Claims New Book.

Kushner Inc., a new book by journalist Vicky Ward, makes the claim that, when Trump hired John F. Kelly as his chief of staff, the president directed him: “Get rid of my kids; get them back to New York.” Ward claims that Trump complained that his daughter Ivanka and his son-in-law Jared Kushner “didn’t know how to play the game” and kept attracting negative press. Kelly reportedly said it would look bad to fire them so they decided to make life difficult enough to force Kushner and Ivanka to resign. However, the pair survived the plan and Kelly resigned in December.

I can't understand why some posters have so much faith in Pelosi when she's consistently let Dem victories slip away. She has experience and knows how Congress works, but can't punch things through like the Repugs. I haven't supported her since she took the Public Option off the ACA. Look at how many have suffered and died due to lack of insurance and look at how successful the Pigs were/are at chipping away at ACA basic tenets. Then Boehner took her gavel and she hasn't learned a thing.

Besides, why did she not come out and declare this back in January? I'll tell you why--because she would not have become Speaker.

This is why we are weak!

by Anonymousreply 108March 12, 2019 2:10 PM

I really think that Nancy is playing a master chess game. You can't do impeachment without investigations. Guess what we're doing right now? Tons of investigations. For all intensive purposes, we have begun the impeachment process. Right now the general public has no appetite for impeachment. Also the House can recommend impeachment tomorrow to the Senate. There is no fucking way that will get 20 Republican senators to agree. We won't even get all of the Democrats to agree in the senate. This is the way Watergate worked. Once the evidence is overwhelming, like in Watergate, you have no choice but to recommend impeachment. If we do this too soon, it gives the Orange Shitgibbon a way to take a victory dance and declare himself innocent.

In the meantime, Democrats can continue to put their policies for 2020 out there.

by Anonymousreply 109March 12, 2019 2:28 PM

Oh, Trump's done impeachable offenses even without the Mueller investigation. That's why the House is investigating him on so many fronts. And that is why he is trying everything he can think of to distract the Press. He has already begun his re-election campaign in ernest, months earlier than expected. In fact, campaigning is all he knows r wants to do.

Mueller is definitely going to find evidence of serious criminal wrong-doing directly involving Trump. I'm convinced of that and if you read the indictments and charges carefully, you'll see all roads are leading to Trump. Trump delegated nothing, had to know everything that was going on, or proposed, and had to agree to it. No one freelanced. And if you think his oligarch buddies didn't tell him how much Putin was helping him, etc. and he loved it, then you're delusional.

by Anonymousreply 135March 12, 2019 5:35 PM

Don't get angry at Pelosi. She cannot be seen to be going after him, even if she is going after him. It's a difficult process. If she knew she had the votes in both houses she'd go with it tomorrow. OR: He wins the election the Democrats win the Senate & keep the House and we go after him on January 21st 2021. He'll be gone before June, 2021. So will his VP. andNancy will be POTUS.

"Trump isn't worth it" will go down in political history as one of the most memorable phrases.

It will be classic in time.

by Anonymousreply 141March 12, 2019 7:12 PM

I think if the Dems had the Senate, too, Pelosi might sing a different tune. With only the House, impeachment would be like a shot that won't hit its target. But Pelosi will continue to investigate Trump and his cronies and bring about their downfall another way.

by Anonymousreply 142March 12, 2019 7:31 PM

'Trump "just" isn't worth it.'

by Anonymousreply 143March 12, 2019 7:33 PM

Exactly, R142. The thing is, Impeachment really must be Bi-Partisan. We'd be removing an elected head of state. We have to make sure there's a consensus. Yes, we will get a lot more Dems than Republicans, but we need to get "enough" Republicans for it to be considered Bi-Partisan. The Republican Senate loves to point to Manchin and say "bi- partisan." But that's not quite what it means. Even if we have a majority in both houses we'll need at least a half dozen Republican Senators to be respectable. Pelosi is hoping his crimes will be serious enough to sway public opinion, and that will help ove a few GOP to our side.

by Anonymousreply 144March 12, 2019 7:37 PM

I have a question about impeachment. Let’s say that the fat bastard does eventually get impeached by both the House and the Senate, does it end there? In other words, can the pig then fight it and it ends up to ba a Supreme Court decision?

by Anonymousreply 145March 12, 2019 7:48 PM

Can she or the dems at least say "he SHOULD be impeached but the republicans will never let it happen"? Let the people know what he has done is wrong and illegal? I'm sure there's a big picture plan here and I love Nancy but I think it comes off weak sometimes. I dunno, maybe it's better for it to come out of nowhere.

by Anonymousreply 146March 12, 2019 7:55 PM

R145 yes for question 1. No question 2.

by Anonymousreply 147March 12, 2019 7:56 PM

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presides over a trial in the Senate, which follows impeachment by the House. There is no Supreme Court appeal option on a Senate vote for removal.

by Anonymousreply 148March 12, 2019 8:01 PM

R146 Yes, you are right. But note also the distorting media will frame it the way they want no matter what Pelosi says. If she blames the Republicans explicitly, they will make her look whiny.

by Anonymousreply 149March 12, 2019 8:02 PM

They can frame it how they want. We know the truth.

by Anonymousreply 150March 12, 2019 8:08 PM

r145, please use the correct terminology.

He gets impeached by the House.

He gets convicted/removed by the Senate.

by Anonymousreply 151March 12, 2019 8:08 PM

I have been wondering if Nancy Pelosi's statement about not wanting to impeach Trump unless something more serious is discovered, is a challenge to Mueller to force him to indict Trump. Now Mueller knows if he thinks Trump should be removed from office he needs to take action himself, he can't just rely on Congress to act after he releases his report.

by Anonymousreply 154March 12, 2019 8:34 PM

The idea of this man finishing out his term is quite possibly an even bigger stain on American history than him becoming president in the first place. I know it would look like some big feat to vote him out but that's not how this is supposed to work. It isn't the voter's responsibility to vote out criminals. That's why we have laws. Don't get me wrong, if voting him out after one term is all we have, I'll take it...but it's sending the wrong message and practically begging for it to happen again.

by Anonymousreply 156March 12, 2019 8:52 PM

Ok, 154 again. Mueller is working out of the executive branch. Pelosi is part of the legislative branch.

The legislative branch, through its oversight abilities, can investigate the president.

The republican controlled house refused to investigate comey's firing.

Mueller was hired through the executive branch to investigate, as a compromise.

The house has opened investigations now.

The house does not need muellers report to file impeachment articles. In fact Democrats have filed articles of impeachment while the Rs controlled the house.

Pelosi, schiff and others Dems now in control have hired fantastic lawyers to help the house with myriad investigations.

In short, the house does not need muellers report to impeach or indict people.

I don't know why I just wrote a book, but people are forgetting that the house is investigating all trumps shit.

by Anonymousreply 159March 12, 2019 9:22 PM

Every time the Dems, or one or two, Dems do something the media and of course the right wing just run with it like they've just extracted a heart and need to get it to the transplant recipient in 2.7 seconds.

I've been seeing trolls going to town here lately so I can imagine how bad it is on FB and Twitter. Just look at the Biden thread. There are people, trolls of course, who still say shit like, "I will only support him if he does x, y , z" or "He's too old and of course he is white and male" and other eye rolling shit in their not so clever toolbox.

We have to all realize white people are not the problem- it is conservatives. Conservatives all over the world, no matter the color, act the exact same way.

Stay strong DL. Muriel is onto them. We know things will get worse before they get better. The fucking media needs to stay focused and quit acting like a 9 year old who has ADHD.

by Anonymousreply 160March 12, 2019 9:49 PM
We have to all realize white people are not the problem- it is conservatives.

I'd be even more specific: religious fundamentalists are the problem, and in the US they're a bigger part of the white Protestant population than of any other. But there are also fundamentalists in other Christian groups and among Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc.—and they tend to support Trumpism, even the Muslims!

by Anonymousreply 163March 12, 2019 10:11 PM

r161 I agree but I consider them as part of the umbrella of being conservative. Conservatism is toxic, whether religious or not. Whatever the motivation, conservatism is the root problem. We need to just take the white part out. Conservatives hate white people who are liberal or women.

Jared is an international criminal from a crime family, yet he runs free, while Huffman is in serious trouble for spending $15 thousand dollars for what? An education that her kid probably does not even care about. It's a crazy world.

More and more I hate Israel...I thought Netanyahu was indicted? Both Netanyahu and Trump, lousy shithead criminals, what an awful world with Netanyahu, Dummy Trump and Putin in charge while we all sit around and do nothing while 3 criminals destroy our world.

by Anonymousreply 166March 12, 2019 10:20 PM

Not everyone is sitting around doing nothing. If you think you are, and feel bad for it, then get up and do something.

r166 We are doing something. We are following our system of check and balances. The Dems have to make up for 2 years of the repugs doing absolutely nothing and letting criminals run wild.

It is just remarkable, in a bad way, how conservatives really only care about being in power. They want their judges in place for instances like this Judge Ellis who was supposed to be "one of the good ones" but turned out that when push came to shove, he was your typical conservative.

Why do sociopaths flock to conservatism? (That was rhetorical but feel free to add your theories).

Did you all hear? This college cheating story is the biggest scandal of the year!

L. Graham pressuring and scolding fellow Senators that they MUST vote against the bill that opposes Trump's emergency funding declaration, is absurd. Each Senator has one vote on a matter the same as he does. One would think other Senators would resent him lecturing them about what he demands. Graham craves attention, camera and TV appearances, and the media chasing him around the Capital building. His sychophant behavior over Trump is extreme. He just spent a load of taxpayer money to spend the weekend with Netanyahu. He's not the Secretary of State or the Defense Secretary, or special envoy. Isn't doing a Middle East plan Jared Kusher's WH job, as scandal ridden as it is? At some point, Graham is going to crash.

Pelosi stated that the Public Option was off the table even BEFORE negotiations started. This then became the new starting point of future negotiations. She managed to preempt the Public Option so no one would bring it up and the Pigs would feel less partisan. Please note, that as history has dictated from this one instance, that NOTHING beneficial to Dems occurred from this . Once the Repigs took over, they tried to repeal ACA over a dozen times! Am I right? The only meat on the bone of ACA is pre-existing conditions.

Don't defend the indefensible. Pelosi will fuck up and ruin this opportunity to put a stake in Trump Inc.

“I believe that many, including many in the press, have done the country a disservice by creating the impression that when he gets done, Mueller is going to write this scathing, lengthy report detailing what an asshole the president is, even if he’s not a criminal,” says Paul Rosenzweig, a senior fellow at the R Street Institute think tank who was a senior counsel on the Whitewater investigation. “If my thesis about Mueller is right, then that’s just not happening.”

John Q. Barrett, a law professor at St. John’s University who served as an associate counsel on the Iran-Contra investigation, agrees. “They are not going to get a narrative, multi-hundred-page, factually organized, appended-documents road map from Mueller,” Barrett says. “Mueller might send a five-page memo to [Attorney General William] Barr, saying, ‘I got a guilty plea from these people, and I didn’t charge these ones.’”

We should get Manafort's sentence today fairly early. I believe the hearing was suppose to begin at 9:30am eastern. Let's hope the judge sentences the full ten years and runs in consecutively.

by Anonymousreply 190March 13, 2019 12:00 PM

This Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft scandal could certainly do some damage to Trump if he's not careful. Most of the world has banned the planes from their fleets and several countries have even banned the planes from their airspace. After Boeing spoke with Trump, the US is one of the few countries not to ban the aircraft. Boeing knows there is a problem with the software and have a complete update scheduled for April which was delayed because of the government shutdown. If two planes have crashed and numerous other pilots have reported the same thing AND Boeing is admitting there is an issue with the software, why are the planes still in service in the US? Something smells Trumpy here, yet again. Most corrupt administration ever!!!

by Anonymousreply 194March 13, 2019 2:33 PM

Manafort is groveling. He told Ellis he was "ashamed," and appeared in a jumpsuit. Today he is in a business suit, talkin about how sorry he is and asking them to "please let me be with my wife. I'm 70 years old..." So, FYI: If you are a white man, you can blow through tens of millions of dollars, lie, cheat, and steal, betray your country, conspire to defraud the American people by interfering in our elections, destroy the reputation of opponents, have then imprisoned in the Ukraine with chants to "lock her up!" and lie to prosecutors, etc.etc., continuing to deal with you corrupt business interests even from jail, and all you have to do is get theatrical, and say, "I'm so sorry!" and you get a ridiculously light sentence and end up with a Presidential pardon and a free condo.

by Anonymousreply 195March 13, 2019 3:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 197March 13, 2019 3:08 PM

I know this is mean and vindictive but I hope he gets the maximum sentence.

by Anonymousreply 198March 13, 2019 3:14 PM

Religions allows you the same "rights". Do horrendous things, ask for forgiveness and poof! All is good. This is the mantra of deplorables. They know no better.

by Anonymousreply 199March 13, 2019 3:22 PM

By the time the Mueller Report is received by Congress after Barr does his pro-Trump alterations that could lead to court challenges over disclosures; and by the time key committees in the House complete their interviews and secure and review documents from subpoenas, and they report their findings; and by the time the SDNY has issued only "partial" indictments of what they are investigating; it will already be in year 2020. And that's being optimistic.

by Anonymousreply 200March 13, 2019 3:26 PM

Judge Amy: Manafort is not Public Enemy #1, but not a victim either. Both sides are guilty of hyperbole.

My prediction: 4 years, to be served concurently with Ellis's sentence.

by Anonymousreply 201March 13, 2019 3:28 PM

MSNBC pundit says it looks like a concurrent sentence. Concurrent with each other and the 47 months. So five years.

by Anonymousreply 202March 13, 2019 3:28 PM

Yuck. You can get away with anything now.

by Anonymousreply 203March 13, 2019 3:29 PM

Personally, I believe Pelosi's "no impeachment" comments are meant as much to give Trump and his people a level of false confidence as anything else. When people like that think they're in the clear they're more apt to screw up even more since they think they're getting away with it.

Ol' Nance, crazy, like a fox.

by Anonymousreply 207March 13, 2019 3:46 PM

Judge Amy: not convinced Paulie is sufficiently remorseful. But will she give him more than time than a 4 year concurrent sentence, as I predict?

by Anonymousreply 208March 13, 2019 3:51 PM

Ugh for the first count, something less than five years, with 30 months of it served concurrently with the 47 months from earlier.

by Anonymousreply 209March 13, 2019 4:04 PM

43 months. Seven years in all.

by Anonymousreply 210March 13, 2019 4:05 PM

7.5 years total with Ellis.

It clearly pays to be an old, white man in the justice system. He's still a fucking traitor.

by Anonymousreply 216March 13, 2019 4:08 PM

7.5 is on the tougher end of the sentencing guidelines. Good.

by Anonymousreply 217March 13, 2019 4:08 PM

R217, Jackson didn't give him 7.5 years. She gave him 43 months. 7.5 is that 43 plus Ellis's 47.

by Anonymousreply 218March 13, 2019 4:14 PM

It could have been 14 years total had she given the max of ten years (2 five year sentences consecutive) and made it consecutive to Ellis's 43 months.

7.5 instead of a possible 14.

by Anonymousreply 219March 13, 2019 4:15 PM

Don't tell me there's no rich white privilege in the criminal justice system.

by Anonymousreply 220March 13, 2019 4:16 PM

Outrageous. No justice.

by Anonymousreply 221March 13, 2019 4:17 PM

Not as light as I predicted (4 years, concurrently), but still a good deal for Paulie. He really has skated. And poor Weissman gets shit on by TWO judges for all his fantastic work.

Now it's time for Judge Amy to slap Roger Stone's wrist again with a stern talking to.

by Anonymousreply 222March 13, 2019 4:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 223March 13, 2019 4:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 224March 13, 2019 4:19 PM

I expect it to be reduced to a $40 fine.

by Anonymousreply 225March 13, 2019 4:20 PM

This comedy of errors IS NOT OVER....all of these crooks, Manafort, Flynn, etc will be charged again when the actual conspiracy case is unveiled...thats why every single case has not mentioned any "collusion"...and its been emphasized by the judges.

by Anonymousreply 226March 13, 2019 4:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 227March 13, 2019 4:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 228March 13, 2019 4:27 PM

by Anonymousreply 229March 13, 2019 4:27 PM

by Anonymousreply 230March 13, 2019 4:28 PM

This probably sounds like a troll post but if I were black, I’d be pissed as hell. This vividly points out the lack of justice in this country. WHITE, rich and privileged are treated way different. His crimes warranted a much longer punishment.

Manafort was indicted on 16 counts tied to residential mortgage fraud and conspiracy, according to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.

Word of the indictment came less than an hour after Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, was sentenced to an additional 43 months in prison by a Washington federal judge on conspiracy charges brought by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Remember the sentencing docs the prosecutors presented about Manatee, how damning they were in spelling out what scum he is? And she was appointed by Obama!

It pays to be a conservative, rich male in this world.

There is always too much breaking news. This is why it is hard for the average person to know what is going on and how serious all of this is. I know plenty of liberal leaning people who have no clue what is going on because they just tune it all out because it is "always something every day".

Conservatives are really showing themselves to be straight up sociopaths.

It was revealed by a series of emails released by CNN Wednesday, that pardons may have been dangled for Michael Cohen. In an email exchange, President Donald Trump’s attorney Bob Costello told Cohen to “sleep well” and reminded him that he has “friends in high places.”

According to a statement to the Daily Beast, Costello was simply quoting Garth Brooks lyrics.

“To repeat myself, Michael Cohen and his counsel’s interpretation of events is utter nonsense,” Costello said. “This statement: ‘Sleep Well tonight, you have friends in high places’ was a tongue-in-cheek reference to a Garth Brooks song, to a client whose state of mind was highly disturbed and had suggested to us that he was suicidal. We were simply trying to be decent human beings. There is no hidden message.”

Trump should be impeached just for the 8000+ lies he’s told, so far, since inauguration. It shouldn’t matter that he’s nobeen under oath. This is not 10 lies, or white lies, this is all the time lies.

by Anonymousreply 284March 14, 2019 3:49 AM

It truly is challenging to keep up. I agree with other posters, I think the story that carries the day is Whitaker. I just KNEW he was full of shit. I wouldn’t be surprised if after he finished his post as AG that the FBI has a sit down with him. They reminded him what is going to happen to him if he doesn’t lay off the fucking bullshit. That bald sweaty bitch is scared, as well he should be, this is no fucking joke, we are coming for you Mattie!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 285March 14, 2019 3:52 AM

From now on, just know the real enemy. They aren't white people. They aren't men. They aren't the religious. They are conservatives. It is clear, in every country in the world, conservatives are just fucked up. It is never about the greater good. It is all about preserving things for themselves and controlling others.

Could someone please enlighten me? If Manafort is convicted in NY's state court system on essentially the same charges, how is that not double jeopardy? I'm guessing the charges are NOT identical, therefore valid? Then how different do the charges need to be, in order to be considered valid? I want him to fry in his own stanky oil, along with every other treasonous hench(wo)man in Trump's orbit, but I am confused about how our wonderful legal system works.

KellyAnne's hubby went on an anti-Trump tweetstorm last night, ending with "Whether or not impeachment is in order, a serious inquiry needs to be made about this man’s condition of mind."

R299 Rachel Maddow had a good discussion on this last night with Joyce Vance. There is a possibility that a state court could throw out the new charges based on double jeopardy. That will most likely be Manafort's first defense. However, there are crimes at the state level that do not exist at the Federal level such as Mortgage Fraud. As Joyce explained, the same act can have different crimes associated with it. Manafort has plead guilty to many illegal acts so defending him will be difficult if they can get past the double jeopardy issue.

r294, Ms. Nancy won't like that.

by Anonymousreply 303March 14, 2019 12:45 PM

R301 I posted something similar a few days ago. I too find it strange that he allows KellyAnn to continue with George going off on his so frequently and so strongly. Trump went after people's spouses in regards to McCabe and Bruce Ohr. He argued that they could have positions in his administration in part because their spouses were doing anti-Trump activities such as running as a democrat or working for GPS Fusion. So how can he remain silent about KellyAnn's husband. All seems very strange to me. Is KellyAnn giving Trump an Asian rub-N-tug? Is George all a big scheme to attract attention elsewhere? Trump isn't thick skinned enough to let it that George writes slide. Something is going on here...

by Anonymousreply 304March 14, 2019 12:46 PM

The things that have been shown to be crystal clear over the past few years-

*Conservatives are the true villains. Not white people. Not male (thought that is very iffy). Conservatives are the real villains.

*The rich know they are above the law and thus act as such.

*Our govt, under conservatives, are under corporate control when they are in charge

*Putin is running this country via his control of Pres Bone Spurs. He runs this country via his control of conservative think tanks, institutions (NRA, Evangelical churches and leaders) and a good number of conservative Congressional memebers.

*Our media is sadly for-profit so they will break huge news against HIM but will always look for ANY piece of news so they can run "bothsides" arguments.

*We the people mobilize, as we did in the mid-terms, even with obvious voter suppression and vote tampering, we win.

*Liberals are not radicals. No matter what proposal they offer, even if it goes "too far", it is always to give the people more control over their lives, to fix huge issues and not hope magical tax cut for the rich will fix things.

*The Democratic party, whatever your feelings for them, display every day in numerous individuals, they actually care for this country, capitalism, our Constitution, our democracy, the rights of us all. They want all institutions to be successful from our military to our farmers to our blue collar workers to our white collar workers to the very poor and the very rich.

*The Democratic party represents us all.

* The repugs have devolved into a party that loves generalities, platitudes and draws cult like personalities and those with sociopathic tendancies. They do not care about those "babies being murdered in the womb" they are playing on your emotions to control you, control women for the purpose of furthering their agenda of giving the rich more power.

*No matter how upset you may get at any number of Dems, they are the only group standing up to fight for a better future for you, the country and the world. Even if they receive money from the fossil fuel industry or the gun industry or whatever, their votes often go against them and they will vote for judges who actually will not be activists judges but who will base their rulings on the Constitution.

*This is no time for purity.
The military is not on Trump's side.

He says he gave them a 10% raise.

It was 2.4%.

He says it was their first in 10 years.

They've received a raise each year in the past 10.

Don't you think they're a little annoyed and pissed at being used for political purposes?

Reportedly, soldiers and sailors don't like that.

I don't care what raise that sociopath gave me, I would never support his treasonous ass. If someone bases their support on the raise given, they are human beings who have no soul.

Another great thing our "president" did was completely erase the way we see Reagan and W. Our "president" hates them and calls them terrible presidents. What is hysterical is, our repugs are so bought and paid for, they go along with it. Reagan is no longer seen as this saint like icon and W is, rightfully, seen as a joke with the right now. Putin made sure to make our "president" destroy the notions about those two.

He is still scared shitless of Nancy.

I believe Cohen had something like a dozen burner phones and he had people or a person go as his emissary to do whatever (pay off the hackers?). His phone pinged just outside Prague.

It’ll all come out soon enough and it’ll all make sense.

No, I don’t think he was lying about never having been there, and no, Mueller wouldn’t instruct him to lie to Congress. That’s what Trumpists believe, though.

by Anonymousreply 398March 15, 2019 3:56 AM

Maybe he didn’t want to reveal too much of the other investigations.

You know, I guess nobody ever really did look into the vote count on a minute level. Look what just happened in NC. They got busted red handed.

Many believed Jill Stein still at that point and thought someone one was looking into it.

We know now she turned out to be in on the coup.

It would make for a good documentary.

by Anonymousreply 401March 15, 2019 6:42 AM

Hey r375, I actually care about this country and when Reagan was in power I saw the rampant racism taking over our country. I saw all the propaganda and wondered why our country just let it go....it has been painful to watch. Now everyday has become a nightmare with Trump in power and all you smart and educated people underestimating Trump, Putin and the hatred their mean and ignorant followers maintain. I wish I was just stupid and never observed these things but I can not go back to ignorance. Not many thought that Hitler would round up 6 million Jews and kill them.

I have the same empty feeling inside-- that no matter what we say and how much we try to point out very important details and warnings, the smug- minded will keep falling in the same false traps as has been proven historically accurate. My well-meaning reveal of destructions so harmful to us and our cause seem destined to repeat yet again. They just can't or won't believe those that are trying to help; those that have seen where it it ends (badly, for us) to have any say.

I sadly reflect upon those who put too much faith in NP and Meuller as well as those who are okay with no impeachment. What meaning given to the final Mueller Report seems pointless without a strike that would remove the Trumpin scorge immediately. I mean, really, of what import does this Report have? The weak-minded moobs here will simply wait until the 2020 elections. Like any other Presidential election. No special circumstances with Trump, right?

by Anonymousreply 406March 15, 2019 8:14 AM

Miss Lindsay stopped the Senate from passing a unanimous resolution, similar to House measure, advocating that the full Mueller Report be released to the public once completed. One Senator can object, and the unanimous resolution becomes nullified. Still, McConnell could have forced a "majority" resolution which he showed to effort to do.

Kompromat at work.

by Anonymousreply 411March 15, 2019 12:33 PM

Thanks, r398, didn’t mean to imply that there is subterfuge going on with Mueller re: Cohen’s testimony about being in Prague. My initial thought was that it would be a bombshell that would reveal to Dump and the world that Mueller is definitely on to him with a key collusion piece of evidence, and he might not want to play his hand, but it would have made more sense for Cohen to say he couldn’t talk about it. A burner phone used by someone else makes more sense.

by Anonymousreply 413March 15, 2019 12:39 PM

When this is all said and done and the report is released, books written, historians record the facts and write the history, I will be most interested in how Miss Mint Julep of 1972 fit into all this crime and scandal. Her part in the scheme to destroy the US. Her motivations and involvement.

Three old, bitter, sour, hateful granny gays. The turtle, Senatrice, Miss Sessions.

It really is, r417. I wish South Carolina were more purple. He’s getting away with this bullshit because he’s in a Dump state, and his embrace of all things Dump will ensure he isn’t primaried by a more conservative tea partier. I hate that he’s insulated because he’s in a red state.

by Anonymousreply 418March 15, 2019 2:01 PM

I love how horned up Mike Pence looks standing next to that gay husband of the Irish Prime Minister.

by Anonymousreply 419March 15, 2019 3:07 PM

In South Carolina. Graham is not even adored by Republicans, but he will get re-elected unless there are shocking new developments about him personally.. The Democratic Party in South Carolina is structurally and organizationally weak by comparison. They are encouraging a DNC member, a state party leader, to challeng him, but a real battle will be immensely uphill. Graham has massive campaign funds at his disposal, given by powerful special interests. And his PAC includes received Russian-tied oligarch and NRA money. The SC media reports on Graham, but he is not asked tough questions by them Citizens will write some editorials critical of Graham, but one sees little beyond that. The national media can't get enough of him, often distorting his behavior as being more positive than the facts The major SC complaints are about his excessive fawning over Trump, his flipping on stated principles and stances, and the recognition he does nothing concerning critical needs for South Carolina. That takes work that is not a priority for him. He visits abroard more than he does SC it seems. But, he is not being held accountable by the state. The gay rumors about Graham have been around for decades. Some are quite local. He just denies this and advocates/ votes anti-gay. There is also growing speculation that Trump "has something on him". But like elsewhere, it is guessing by the general public. Graham cherishes power and $s, is very ambitious, and craves attention. He loves the camera. Unfortunately, South Carolina is still too red. Georgia and North Carolina are moving faster toward purple than SC. And many of the fervent right-wingers are transplants, including retirees from the military. There are progressive Democrats in South Carolina, but we desperately need 5% to 8% of the state electorate voting for Democrats statewide to make major flips.

Mueller: Former Trump campaign official Rick Gates 'continues to cooperate' in several investigations.

Former Trump campaign official Rick Gates "continues to cooperate with respect to several ongoing investigations," special counsel Robert Mueller said in a court filing Friday.

"Accordingly the parties do not believe it is appropriate" to move on to Gates' sentencing phase, the filing in Washington, D.C., federal court said.

The joint report from Mueller and Gates' attorney, which asks a federal judge for 60 more days before providing the next update on Gates' status, comes amid increasing speculation that the special counsel's Russia probe is coming to an end.

R386, De Vos and Mike Pence and others keep talking about a "Christian Caliphate" and many of these kinds of people believe in "end times." They are the White Christian version of ISIS. Not saying Erik Prince, De Vos's brother is a true believer, but he is militaristic, Extreme Right, if not part of the "Christian Cabal," and he definitely has an agenda.

He is the type who'd look at Trump as a tool to get what he wants, which is to run the biggest private mercenary army in the world and franchise it out. He'd be more in lock step with Putin and the Oligarchs. They're all using Trump like a worn out old whore. Prince wanted to privatize anything not nailed down at the Defense Department for years.

Trump is useful. To MAGAs he's a "leader" To most other people around him he's a joke, but very useful to them. The media keeps treating him like a legitimate President. They try to normalize him even as they report on his latest twitter outrage. But there's nothing normal about him.

by Anonymousreply 431March 15, 2019 6:25 PM

Putin is definitely using our greed and our greedy with oligarch money to bribe or blackmail our rightwing nuts.

This is a huge story someone will go down in history if they break this wide open with proof. I'm the Former Congressional Intern and my contacts believe this runs deep in conservative circles to the point they are fearful. Russia, China and the Saudis have figured out our weakness and it is conservatives. It is why they flip out when a Democrat wins the WH. They've invested in and are continuing to invest in voter suppression and cheating. The NC case is an ice cube portion of what is really going on. If it is liberals vs repugs on the issues, liberals win every single time by wide margins.

The Mercers and Kochs and their ilk are not even getting close to how vast this is. Hillary was right (as usual) when she said this was a vast right wing conspiracy.

by Anonymousreply 434March 15, 2019 6:39 PM

R432, I believe you. There have always been front organizations or "lobbyists" who represented the interests of foreign countries attempting to influence our policies to benefit their clients. But what has been happening since Citizens United, and with global economic interests, has been off the charts. Add to that the ideological extremists and the internet, and we have a stew of scary anti democracy shit that will choke us.

I have been addicted to history and politics for decades and read quite a bit in addition to being a news junkie. My theory is that with Russia, it goes back to Jimmy Carter and Afghanistan, and the Olympics boycott, etc. Russia has been looking for vengeance ever since they were humiliated and disrespected. One of the reasons we can't get a peace process off the ground in the Middle East is because of Russia. They have been shit stirring and worse ad probably were behind the Hostage crisis at the embassy in Iran, and the rise of Muslim extremists. They didn't create them, but they know how to exploit weaknesses. It's what they do.

Interesting to see which countries are involved in the really bad shit: Saudis, Putin and China. The Chinese are interested primarily in their own economy growth and they embrace stability...at all costs. So of the three China is the only one we can afford to deal with. Russia is practically a failed state, weak economy, etc. and Putin and his oligarchs are bad, dangerous criminals. Saudis especially now, under MBS, are the same. Criminals.

by Anonymousreply 437March 15, 2019 7:28 PM

From indictment delays to trial delays this is all annoying. We the public are hungry for more

by Anonymousreply 438March 15, 2019 7:48 PM

Ben Sasse, never let it be forgotten, is the "thoughtful," "conscientious" Republican who told the press he agonizes and "thinks about leaving the GOP every morning."

In other words, he's the guy who consciously recommits to the Republican party every damn day, knowing full well the wrongs he's collaborating in—and wants some kind of moral reputation for thinking twice about it.

R444 Chris Cuomo tries again and again to portray that he's a match for Kellyanne and delivers the superior points of argument.

He hasn't learned he can't succeed at that. Kellyanne is a master at spinning, deflection, outright lying, and filibustering the conversation with repeated and rehearsed talking points. The way to deal with that is not to invite her back. CNN needs to follow MSNBC's policy with her. CNN thinks these predictable, lame, infotainment debates are great ratings, for the both-sides bullshit they promote. I switch channels when CNN does this nonsense. Nothing of substance is ever offered in these shout-fests
[R378] The dossier says Cohen visited Prague. Cohen denies it and so far there is no evidence that he was in Prague.

At one point you'll learn how to decipher lawyer-speak.

Michael Cohen denies ever stepping foot in the city limits of Prague. And yet, his cell phone was tracked somewhere around the city of Prague at that time.

Was he meeting people outside of Prague?

Did other Trump capos have possession of his phone who were present in meetings in Prague?

Plenty of wiggle room in those words.

by Anonymousreply 452March 16, 2019 12:06 AM

Why and how was a supposed random burner phone associated with Cohen's ID in the first place? Or was it his regular phone (sim card) registered to him?

by Anonymousreply 453March 16, 2019 12:22 AM

This isn’t my usual type of post and I won’t be offended if I am accused of paranoia and/or tin hattery, but this Frank Cali whacking is bothering me. That was not a normal, proper Sicilian whacking that someone vying to become Capo would do. There was no respect for the family. Trump did a lot of business with the Gambinos, Frank Cali might have known things. He might been talking to people about things. Maybe the rat warning wasn’t just aimed at Cohen.

by Anonymousreply 454March 16, 2019 12:43 AM

R453, I don’t think anyone knows, but when Cohen’s office, hotel room, etc were raided, they confiscated — if I recall correctly — something like 12 or 13 cellphones. I believe someone at the time (on MSNBC?) said they were burner phones.

Who knows why. But one of those, registered to him, pinged outside of Prague.

by Anonymousreply 455March 16, 2019 12:56 AM

Interesting speculation, Elder Lez.

On Cohen, maybe as the fixer, he bought multiple burner phones for use by the Trump family and their top operatives. I can't imagine Hope Hicks or Junior Mint running to the store buying a pile of burner phones. Cohen himself or a party in his behalf, could have ordered them online or called and had them shipped. Then Cohen, Trump, Kushner, Junior Mint, or another top insider distributed them to certain organization operatives. The registered buyer and the user could certainly be different people.

by Anonymousreply 456March 16, 2019 12:59 AM

How do we know one of Cohens burner phones pinged in Prague? Was this reported somewhere reliable?

by Anonymousreply 457March 16, 2019 12:58 AM

A foreign intelligence service picked up on the phone being an outlier.

Foreign intelligence HATES Trump and monitors all American phones in Europe.

I believe that they have every transcript of every phone call Trump made on his unprotected personal phone.

by Anonymousreply 458March 16, 2019 1:10 AM

So the Steele Dossier came first claiming that Cohen was in Prague then, at a raid, a burner phone was discovered that was located near Prague at the date where Cohen was supposedly in Prague. Do I got that right?

Personally I trust the Steele Dossier more than anything Trump or his associate claim to discredit it.

by Anonymousreply 460March 16, 2019 1:31 AM

Cohen was named specifically as being in Prague....regardless of his claims or any speculation. The agents named him....not "some Trump associate", ....they said Michael Cohen....they laid out who he met and why he was there. So the Cohen apologists can take a seat. He was there.

by Anonymousreply 461March 16, 2019 1:30 AM

We are not Cohen apologists it is simply he was asked a direct question in an open committee and he stated under oath that he had never been to Hungary, in Prague or near Prague.

Why would he lie if the facts were incontrovertible?

by Anonymousreply 462March 16, 2019 1:41 AM

Prague is in the Czech Republic, I think. That Prague thing is sticky. I heard him answer that question and I was also aware of the claim that he was there. But I'm fuzzy about how that came out and the specifics. I didn't realize it was so specific as to his purpose and the date, etc.

by Anonymousreply 463March 16, 2019 1:45 AM

^^^thanks, Czech Republic.

by Anonymousreply 464March 16, 2019 1:46 AM

He wasnt IN Prague....he was on the outskirts of Prague....same difference.....he was there paying off the hackers. He pulled that passport shit on Hannity, but that didnt fly when it turned out he had more than one. Then, at the time of the "events", he claimed he was in Italy, and that his passport show no other stamps....but anyone with a working braincell knows that once you are there, you can go from country to country without passport checks....hence one of the benefits of the EU. He drove to his meeting....then drove back.

With Republican support for Trump in the (80%-90% range), room and support for pragmatic, moderate-leaning candidates in the Republican Party is in a way too narrow lane. Trump controls the RNC and they basically have declared it to be a coronation of Trump Still, it would be good to see him have party challengers. If the Mueller Report is somehow immensely devastating to Trump, others could join the race. Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio have not given up on running again.

Barr the new attorney general, and Kavanaugh both subscribe to this interpretation and it is completely undemocratic. The Republican Party has been heading in this direction for decades. We have to push back hard and we have to show up.

Washington Post: ‘An easy target’: Pence takes barbs from both sides as he promotes Trump

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 490March 16, 2019 6:27 PM

One good thing about the Trump presidency is that Pence can never be president unless Donald dies suddenly in the next two years. I think he has damaged himself enough so that he can never be elected. I also don't think Trump can get re elected without the help from Russia. His 2020 margins were razor thin and I don't think many additional people have turned towards him because of the "great" job that he has done. Everyone knows him now and knows how bad he is - even many of those who voted for him. Also, any lingering democrat or independent who maybe wasn't excited by Hillary now knows that a potato is better than Trump.

by Anonymousreply 491March 16, 2019 6:37 PM

*Trump can't get elected without Russia assistance.

by Anonymousreply 492March 16, 2019 6:38 PM

Pence is a blend into the wallpaper whindoesbt do anything. He’s a freak, even repulsive know that.

by Anonymousreply 493March 16, 2019 7:13 PM

Of course the GOP wants a king - it's the only way they can stay in power and they know it.

The same reason that loathsome turtle refuses to vote on HB 1. It would make elections fair and open thus sealing their fate to the scrapheap of history.

by Anonymousreply 494March 16, 2019 7:13 PM

The GOP would be just fine with a Hitlerian dictatorship, just as long as they were the dictators.

Bunch of traitorous scum.

by Anonymousreply 495March 16, 2019 10:21 PM

I have a question/observation...Yesterday Trump vetoed the bill which would have negated his Declaration of a National Emergency. He was surrounded by a bunch of motley looking law enforcement officials AND William Barr. It's widely believed in legal circles that his declaration is over-reaching, illegal and will be overturned by the courts. The majority of both the House and Senate also believe this to be true. Is it a good look for William Barr to be cheerleading the president on something so blatantly illegal? If I were Attorney General - the head of the nation's legal and law enforcement branch - I don't think I would want to be present at a signing for something that the courts will most likely declare illegal. It shows bad judgement and poor knowledge of the law. I know that Obama and Holder didn't even like to be photographed together. I seem to remember that they both loved playing basketball but Holder won't join Obama's pick up games at the White House because it would indicate that maybe he wasn't independent enough. Those days seem gone. Also seems quaint that the GOP threw such fits when Bill Clinton greeted Lorretta Lynch when they were both on the same tarmac. Can you imagine the same GOP getting angry if Melania said hi to William Barr?

I'm reading The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis, really excellent book about inside the trump campaign into the White House. The levels of incompetence, arrogance, and entitlement are frightening.

Here's part of a review from goodreads

The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis

"What are the consequences if the people given control over our government have no idea how it works?

"The election happened," remembers Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, then deputy secretary of the Department of Energy. "And then there was radio silence." Across all departments, similar stories were playing out: Trump appointees were few and far between; those that did show up were shockingly uninformed about the functions of their new workplace. Some even threw away the briefing books that had been prepared for them.

Michael Lewis’s brilliant narrative takes us into the engine rooms of a government under attack by its own leaders. In Agriculture the funding of vital programs like food stamps and school lunches is being slashed. The Commerce Department may not have enough staff to conduct the 2020 Census properly. Over at Energy, where international nuclear risk is managed, it’s not clear there will be enough inspectors to track and locate black market uranium before terrorists do."

Rachel Maddow's story yesterday about Scott Loyd, former director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement speaks to the incompetence mentioned in my post above.

He was supposed to be overseeing refugee resettlement but had no experience in that arena. Instead he had a background in pro-life activities and was focused on preventing young refugee women from getting the abortions they were legally entitled to. Remember the case last year where delay after delay happened while a young refugee was held virtually prisoner to keep her from medical appointments? She was pregnant as a result of rape and wanted to abort. Our government illegally tried to stop it but the ACLU stepped in and she was allowed to proceed.

Maddow's show was in part about the spreadsheets that kept very detailed information about the pregnancies of young refugees as young as 12 in attempt to prevent abortions.

Yep, separate (kidnap) refugee children from their parents at the border, don't keep track of contact and identity info, incarcerate said children while being unable to reunite them with family, all the while proclaiming to be pro-life while keeping meticulously detailed info about pregnant teens, essentially punishing those in desperate straights for what end?

What R499 describes is just an intensification of Republican ideology since Reagan. Reagan's appointees couldn't get away with such blatant contempt for their own offices, although Lord knows they tried (e.g. James Watt). I think of Rick Santorum asking at the first meeting of Senatorial Republicans after the 1994 election, "If no one wants to chair the Indian Affairs committee, why don't we just abolish it?" and Dole kind of laughing him off. The Republicans finally have the kind of administration they want, one that will just openly ransack the government and funnel all the loot straight to the rich—and they have the docile electorate that lets them get away with it.

by Anonymousreply 501March 17, 2019 2:19 AM

That guy should stand before a firing squad, R500. Most of the people in Trump’s administration should.

by Anonymousreply 502March 17, 2019 5:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 504March 17, 2019 6:03 AM

Trump is so guilty of treason, he should be hung by his neck until dead. I am not joking, I believe we are in a cyber war with Russia and Trump works for Russia, while in our White House.

He should be hung by his neck along with Jared, Don Jr. and Ivanka. Obviously McConnell and Miss Lindsay are trAitors also.

by Anonymousreply 505March 17, 2019 6:14 AM

R505 It's a harsh thing to say but I agree. They are guilty of Treason and treason has a harsh penalty.

by Anonymousreply 506March 17, 2019 6:16 AM

Any of us with a brain have seen that Trump has committed crime after crime and is worthy of indictment, not just impeachment. Why do we have to allow this criminal to insult us and the whole world with his crimes and vicious racism. At this point, Nancy's fear of the right wing cripples our country.

by Anonymousreply 507March 17, 2019 6:26 AM

Reasoning with these enablers is useless. They spew 'troll' and remove you from the discussion. by Anonymousreply 514March 17, 2019 4:14 PM

If their were charges filed on Ivanka and Don Jr then we could hope for a possibly peaceful resignation with some sort of slap on the wrist. I think the chances of that are slim but better than the impeachment strategy. I much prefer we defeat in 2020 and then the ensuing charges and perp walk. That would fill my heart.

by Anonymousreply 515March 17, 2019 4:40 PM

by Anonymousreply 519March 17, 2019 7:43 PM

Here’s an interesting development re: Prague.

Several years ago, FSB launched two undercover private firms in Prague, posing as regular IT companies. In reality, they served as hacking entities.

Czech counter-intelligence BIS dissolved this network in early 2018”

Natasha Bertrand explains why it’s a very big deal:

by Anonymousreply 528March 18, 2019 2:48 AM

Everyone I follow on political Twitter has been saying today that Trump’s Tweetstorm is next-level, like he’s never been unhinged. George Conway says Trump’s condition is worsening. Everyone thinks something big is coming this week. Could just be a major revelation in a news publication, could be indictments.

or at least some damning new news?

by Anonymousreply 532March 18, 2019 4:48 AM

The world we live in now is so strange. The campaign chairman for the sitting president was sentenced to what I hope is the rest of his life in prison for being a fraudulent, criminal fuck who no doubt treasonously helped Cheetolini illegally take over the White House and it's almost old news at this point because there is just so much more criminal activity to worry about.

My hope is that now that Manafort is sentenced and those cases are done, the next round where he and the rest of them are charged with the treasonous acts comes soon. I could see them waiting until this set of cases was concluded before dropping the next set of indictments.

DjT attacks Sheppard Smith at Fox, then posts clips of Fox commentators he favors. He watches Fox all day and well into the night. Fox is Trump TV, and Rupert Murdoch facilitated it.

And almost daily appearances on Fox by the camera craving Miss Lindz, doing her obsessive Trump cheerleading, is disgusting behavior.

Miss Lindz's response to Trump's attacks on the deceased John McCain, was general, moderate praise of McCain's honor and Senate service, but said nothing to condemn Trump's nasty tweets.

by Anonymousreply 540March 18, 2019 10:39 AM

What I found most telling were the attacks on McCain. That, IMO was very leading. If you Google "McCain,Putin, Russia," you will see that Putin and the Russian media were rejoicing over McCain's death. They considered him an enemy of Russia. He attacked Putin often calling him a thug and a murderer, etc. His criticisms of Russian government go back decades.

In fact, if you paid attention to McCain's funeral, which he himself planned, he all but told us Trump is a traitor, and he had a Russian Journalist that Putin poisoned twice, as a pallbearer at his funeral. McCain literally saved the guy's life. It's a hell of a story.

McCain was speaking from the grave and anyone with eyes and a brain could understand what he was saying. It should be pretty obvious by now that Trump hates anyone Putin hates. Trump is completely enthralled by Putin and reflects what ever is going on with him.

So pay attention not just to the Mueller probe in general, but keep an eye on what's going on internationally. Because the Steele Dossier is still giving Trump the flux.

by Anonymousreply 541March 18, 2019 11:36 AM

I also want to say that ever since Helsinki, Trump seems very concerned, even nervous abut Putin, and any information like this Prague Troll farm, etc. that would upset Putin. He is repeatedly claiming that the Mueller investigation is a cloud that hurts him when he is negotiating with other countries. But remember, Mueller announced the indictments of all those GRU agents two days before Helsinki, which seemed to result in Trump doing a lot of groveling in public.

by Anonymousreply 542March 18, 2019 11:40 AM
Why does Pirro go away but Tucker Carlson sticks around like shit on your shoe?

Carlson brings in a lot more money for the network than Pirro does.

Can you believe no one shoots him? Liberals are dear angels.

by Anonymousreply 544March 18, 2019 12:08 PM

If Trump were assassinated, the Deplorables would rise up and start killing any brown, black, or gay person they could round up in order to avenge their king. As much as I loathe him with every fiber of my being, he needs to be alive to see just how much shit is going to rain down on him.

We are nearing the final season of this show.

by Anonymousreply 545March 18, 2019 12:14 PM

We must be strong and brave...we can not let our country turn into Nazi Germany.

by Anonymousreply 546March 18, 2019 12:26 PM

So my question about Cohen still exists. I truly believe that he went to Prague to pay off Russian hackers as reported in the Steele Dossier. The reporting above about Russian having hacking facilities/companies in Prague adds validity to the claim as does foreign intelligence which has a phone belonging to Cohen pinging in Prague at the time of the said meeting in Prague. It's quacking like a duck, folks. However, Cohen, under oath has repeated said that he was never in Prague. 1) To protect the larger investigation, does he have instructions from the special counsel to tell this lie in public? I doubt it. I don't think SC office would ask someone to lie to congress. 2) Is Cohen cutting the truth really thin by claiming never to have been in Prague because he flew in and stayed on the plane while others came aboard to collect the cash payment? Hence, since his feet never touched the ground, he wasn't technically in Prague. 3) Did they met just outside Prague and so technically, he wasn't in Prague. I believe he was asked if he had ever been in the Czech Republic and he said no. I need to look at a map. Is there a way to be in the vicinity of Prague yet not actually be in the Czech Republic? This one has me puzzled.

by Anonymousreply 547March 18, 2019 12:28 PM

R547 Cohen could have sent someone with a phone that he bought to do the payoff.

by Anonymousreply 548March 18, 2019 12:39 PM

Here's a theory I'm considering. I am totally convinced Trump is a Russian asset, working on behalf of Putin and Putin's agenda. I am also convinced that there are other Russian assets in Congress and in cabinet level positions, and sub cabinet level positions, who are there to prop Trump up and to also do the bidding of Putin.

But it may be that the extent of their penetration, and the degree to which we have been completely compromised, may not come out all at once. I think the Intel community probably thinks we already know more than we should, and that the standing of the United States will not allow us to publicly, officially come out and say Putin fucked us.

They'll want to roll this up, punish the guilty, etc. but the official public statement will be less than we expect. It's just like the timidity they have about conceding that votes were changed and minimizing the hacking in the state voter rolls. "Yes they got into 21 states. Or maybe it was 37. But they didn't get far. Or wait, they hacked into the voter rolls, but they didn't change the outcome. blah, blah, blah."

So they get Trump and his family on other charges, but they soften the "conspiracy to defraud the American people by interfering in our election." What I'm saying is, as we ponder the strategies of Mueller, etc. we have to think about other facets. This isn't happening in a vacuum. So if you're the State Department and the CIA, etc. do you want us to publicly admit that Russia staged a fucking coup?

Or do you want to say Trump's a corrupt asshole who needs to go because he's embarrassing and dangerous. Yes, the rest of the world has figured out what happened and in most cases the International Intel community knows a lot more and has probably been helping our good guys. But even though we know what really happened, the official public statement might be different.

by Anonymousreply 549March 18, 2019 12:39 PM

The thing he is dangerous and Jared is right there helping him be dangerous and our country has become a crook nation.

The truth is too horrible, the public will not be told.

by Anonymousreply 553March 18, 2019 1:36 PM

Maybe the hotel wasn’t the real reason Trumpty wanted them to stay put.

by Anonymousreply 556March 18, 2019 3:03 PM

If there's a news report coming out that's bad for Trump, it would probably have been leaked to him or the reporter would call the admin looking to get a response to the allegations.

If there were an indictment coming down the pike from Mueller, they would have to alert Barr and he in turn would probably let the Shitgibbon know. If SDNY were about to indict, it would probably leak to someone as well before it happened. OR the indictment was already served and the public hasn't been notified yet.

If Mueller has handed in his report (Which I don't think is the case) than Barr probably had it on Shitgibbon's desk before the ink was dry

by Anonymousreply 557March 18, 2019 3:05 PM

Special Counsel lawyers converse with Trump lawyers in terms of the direction of the investigation and related, such as Mueller making certain material requests. It is measured. As their client, Trump hears from his lawyers and perhaps others in the DOJ. That does not mean Mueller is showing his full hand to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 558March 18, 2019 3:06 PM

I'm sure there is the ongoing pressure from the Mueller investigation which has been compounded by the House's new investigations but I think it has more to do with Trump feeling stressed about the upcoming campaign. He's failed on his signature wall. His hail, Mary with North Korea was a bust. His tariffs are undermining a good economy. He has nothing to run on after proclaiming everything would be fixed in the first thirty days.

Like all his failed schemes, he knows it's bankruptcy, refuse to pay legitimate debts time. I wouldn't be surprised if Putin is no longer accepting his calls and is looking for a new asset to elevate.

But my guess is they are still trying to protect this traitor and his spawn by whatever means necessary - even if that means warning them of impending doom coming from DA James or DA Vance.
Kellyanne this morning on the WH lawn

So they no longer allow her inside?
Probably wise since she is such a leaker.

The cleaning crew says they'll have to reupholster that couch.

The anonymous letter to the NYT a couple of months ago, I firmly suspect, was authored by Kellyanne with George. It has his writing style and word usage, and Kellyanne gave the insider's scoop.

Kellyanne is covering her a**, doing the Mercer's bidding, while portraying she's most loyal to Trump. She could have left the administration long ago.

R564, Ivanka & Jared always seem so serene and unconcerned because they each have been tucked and botoxed to within an inch of their lives.

r549 I agree that the CIA and others may not want to admit that Russia altered our elections and infiltrated our government at the highest levels. However, I think times are different than the 1960s when the CIA covered up the Russian involvement in Kennedy's assassination. Citizen journalists are a lot more savvy than in the 1960s. One good point of reference was people tracking the private Russian planes flying around the Trump campaign. Information is far easier to get and transmit. It's far harder to keep things quiet and secret with electronic data. Putin has a lot of cards here. If the CIA says Trump was innocent of collusion, Putin could simply release all the dirt on Trump and say to the American people that the CIA lies to you and throw the country into a complete tail spin that way as well. All the pieces are out there. Trump Tower computers communicating with Moscow. Cohen going to Prague. The GOP platform changing on Ukraine to a more Russia favored position. Cambridge Analytica. Manafort giving polling data to the Russians. Jared and Ivanka flying to Prague to met Putin's girl friend. Flynn speaking with the Russian ambassador. Jared asking for a secure channel to Moscow. Prince meeting with the Russians in Seychelles. Trump telling the Russians to hack Hillary Clinton's email on national television. Flynn and Jill Stein at Putin's celebratory dinner. Maria Butina and the NRA. I don't know what more we need to understand the truth.

I think the Pee Tape exists. I think it probably show fat Donald Trump with tiny dick in hand watching a bunch of underage Russian prostitutes pee on each other. I think Epstein probably has worse tapes.

I was not bashing Nancy at all but I think the truth is so terrible...so many people being owned by Putin. Not Democrats, only Republicans. I just think many in power, like Nancy, think they should keep Americans protected from this really awful truth.

by Anonymousreply 587March 18, 2019 9:14 PM

Sure. Your posts about Nancy say otherwise.
