In his exit story line, Paul is once more reduced to a plot device, i.e. the obstacle to WilSon's "true love". In fact, the plot is WilSon are "sacrificing" their own happiness to "help" Paul; therefore, we know it must be "true love". Whatever.

Yes in that sense being Paul’s personal care attendant is not much different than having a kid, just more cockblocking really.

Unfortunately, one of the things that hampers "more natural writing" and basing things on actual screen chemistry between two actors and viewer reaction to it, is that this show's production schedule is six months out, with the writing even further out. .. It doesn't matter how much fans might love something they happen to pick up on today, when there's already six months of whatever TPTB decided to give them in the can.

He basically said that, because of the schedule, they just can't do that, adding that all they can do is go with "what they feel in their collective gut and hope that it's right." (And sometimes they get it wrong.)

I'm not the 6 months out troll, but I will say that some of Days and soaps in general biggest couples and storylines were because the writers saw something on screen and was able to adjust the story accordingly and quickly. Writers were also able to adjust story when something wasn't working or the chemistry was off, etc. Bill Bell was the master of changing story quickly based on immediate fan reaction. One of Days biggest couples, Kim and Shane, weren't written to be together. She was brought on the show for someone else.

This is Days' schedule and it saves money, so this is what we have, but it's not optimal.

Will and Paul's story may have lacked substance but their bed scenes were hot and I totally bought Paul's love for Will. Chandler is a really mediocre actor, so working with another weak actor in Freddie Smith is going to be torture to watch.

Stupid Will won't even know Paul left town until John tells him?! Will leaves a guy in a wheel chair to spend the night in a strange apartment? And Paul seems like he's all over the breakup just overnight. The whole Horita ending scene is just so rushed and anti-climactic. Needed more conflicts, more drama and more tears.
