But in this day and age, the model doesn't really make the same sense. There are other ways for women to make money now. (I think Avon really took off after WWII when women lost their factory jobs to returning soldiers, and there were fewer job opportunities for them in general.)

Another thing is that the MLM companies are also owned by millionaires. The millionaire owners always get a piece of the profits that the MLM reps make. I think he was living a life of quiet desperation. It drove him a little nuts. It helped a little that some co-worker would suck his dick, because you know his wife wouldn't do that, but he'd just about HAD IT UP TO HERE. Then the frau announces she's pregnant again. He hadn't even wanted to fuck her, didn't think there was a risk of knocking her up because of her physical issues, but it happened. So the wife and kids are gone for what? six weeks? He's got the sidepiece pretty much whenever he wants and gets used to the quiet. Then she comes back and dumps him with the kids and takes off on a trip for her stupid business, which is doing nothing but costing them money. One of the girls won't keep quiet and his fantasies about being free of them come into play. Before he knows it, he's quieted his daughter permanently. And realizes he'll have to finish off the other one, too, if he has a prayer of coming out of this without life in prison. The wife was obviously expendable.

But he's not really that smart, so doesn't plan for the long game, plus there's that nosy cunt who was sniffing around so quickly. He knew he needed more time to make this thing work, so half-heartedly put out the story they were missing. But then his dad came in, and he caves.

If there'd been the opportunity for reasonable doubt, he could have milked the missing family thing for a while. Maybe not forever at least but for more than two days. But it was not to be.

I have a friend who did this. He is on the hook for support for a child from his ex-wife who is not his. He has to work as an independent auto mechanic, cash only. He gets medical insurance through his wife with his assumed name. It's a crappy life.

Did your friend adopt the ex's kid, R329? If so, he's the legal parent has an obligation of support. If not, it seems a whole lot easier to go back to court and petition for a paternity test than to live a life underground.

The child was the reason for the separation and eventual divorce. They separated while his ex was pregnant. The ex-wife did not provide the child's real father's name in the birth certificate. This is fraud, but the state won't do anything about it because they claim by doing so, that it would be prejudicial to the child. "Prejudicial to the child" is the given reason for a lot of the odd laws about paternity and child support.

Later, it was established through DNA that my acquaintance is not the father of the child. However, in most states, an order to disestablish paternity will only be granted if the parent is up to date on child support payments as of the time of the hearing, even if you are not the father. My acq. was out of contact with the mother and did not receive notice of child support due until the child was 6 years old - and CS enforcement wanted 6 years back payments.

So my acq. would have to cough up attorney and court fees, plus 6 years of CS, plus ongoing payments until the case was settled. He didn't have the money.

My stepsister's ex boyfriend did this. They lived together and had a son. When the son was 5, the ex-boyfriend said he wanted to break up with my stepsister. He moved out and for close to year he was giving her cash usually $200 each month as child support. Interestingly, advancements made by the Germans included a diagonal blade, that allowed for quicker decapitation. The sharpness of the blade was often determined by how rich you were. You would tip the executioner to sharpen the blade if you were rich enough to do so. When Mary, Queen of Scots (perhaps not yet aware of the custom, or just being Scottish), was beheaded, it required 15 whacks to behead her, a particularly gruesome image.

Anyway, the article described the findings of a professor who asked the question, "how long after your head is separated from your body, do you lose consciousness?"
