These threads are dumb. You're just going to get President Pence, the worst thing to happen to gay people since Hitler

Let Turd be the bookmark in this awful chapter of America- and vote him and Dense out in 2020!

by Anonymousreply 4July 19, 2018 4:49 AM

“Would it or wouldn’t it be treason?” was a better title.

by Anonymousreply 5July 19, 2018 4:54 AM
You're just going to get President Pence, the worst thing to happen to gay people since Hitler

We survived GWB, we can survive Pence. Pence at least has some understanding of how things are supposed to work, and which lines cannot be crossed. Trump is something else altogether.

by Anonymousreply 6July 19, 2018 5:03 AM

I had already ignored the poster who thinks we should complacency stand by while Russia holds our democracy hostage with his treasonous puppet. No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 7July 19, 2018 5:10 AM

Russia picked out the cabinet? Saul, I am this close to solving this one

by Anonymousreply 8July 19, 2018 5:20 AM

R4 "President" Pence would not have any credibility left if Trump were impeached or resigned due to the Russian scandal. The only way for Pence to ascend to power somewhat successfully is for Trump to croak before the Putin meeting. Now it's all too late. Even if Trump dies, Pence will just inherit the entire treason baggage. The focus of the investigation will shift to him especially since he has plenty of Russian connections himself.

by Anonymousreply 9July 19, 2018 5:25 AM

Sure, R4, sure. Keep trying.

by Anonymousreply 10July 19, 2018 5:25 AM

Pres tre45on should not be followed by Pence. Pence, and the whole Repug party, are in on this. Reverse all his executive decisions and all his judicial appointments.

The fact that Collins, Murkowski, Flake, Sasse, and Corker keep confirming his judges speaks volumes to their true allegiance. FUCK THOSE DEMONS.

They need to realize that the tides are turning. Nobody wants to be the one holding the hot potato. The ones who get out first will come out on top:

The NYT article exposes that Trump wasn't only briefed on Russian interference, it was a highly detailed briefing. It would have included the name of assets. One of those assets was so secret Brennan carried his name around in a separate fucking envelope. A few weeks later the Guardian reported Russians were starting to get arrested for working with the CIA and then Russian officials started shooting themselves five times in the back of the head all over the place.

Trump has been actively engaged in a coverup, this article finally gives details which he can't worm out of, and he gets assets killed.

Any Republican still supporting him tomorrow should go in the prison cell right next to him.

by Anonymousreply 25July 19, 2018 5:57 AM

Trump should have canceled the Treason Summit when those 12 Russians were indicted. Any real American President would have done that... conservative or liberal. He proved to everyone he's a sham.

by Anonymousreply 26July 19, 2018 6:09 AM

I remember Rachel Maddow telling the tale of the Ruskie guy who got whisked out of a high level meeting by some goons, with a bag over his head. So this is about him, "According to earlier reports in the Russian media, Mikhailov was arrested some time ago, in theatrical fashion, during a plenary session of the top FSB leadership: a bag was placed over his head and he was marched out of the room, accused of treason."

At the time, the speculation was he may have been the high placed source for the Trump Dossier.

Who knows if it's him but I can easily see rump getting a top CIA asset in Russia killed to save his skin, the TREASONOUS BITCH that he is

by Anonymousreply 27July 19, 2018 6:10 AM

Trump needs to continue with the shitstorm he created and enables UNTIL the new Congress is seated.

by Anonymousreply 28July 19, 2018 6:11 AM

Yes, all who still enable should be hanged. Period. All!

by Anonymousreply 29July 19, 2018 6:12 AM

All these retirements make sense now.

by Anonymousreply 30July 19, 2018 6:15 AM

When deplorable farmers and the like whine, I'd like someone to go up to them and say, how about you vote for Trump again? Keep voting for him, why dontcha. Let's see what happens to you then.

by Anonymousreply 31July 19, 2018 6:16 AM

I hope this shitshow is effectively over... The GOP traitors can still do damage up to the minute they lose power or get arrested, but the wind has gone out of their sail. It's all sinking feelings for them from here.

by Anonymousreply 32July 19, 2018 6:18 AM

And the fact the GOP traitors went this far enabling a sham president without anything but some whimpers here and there also exposed them as cowards and not fit for office.

by Anonymousreply 33July 19, 2018 6:22 AM

50-49 vote today in the Senate on a DEPLORALBE judge. Not even Collins or Murkowski, not to mention Flake or Corker, could vote no. Don't be fooled! Those who speak against still VOTE for. Fuck those demons.

by Anonymousreply 34July 19, 2018 6:26 AM

Chris Cuomo asked Jeff Flake if he would threaten to withhold SCOTUS vote until they get Trump to agree on measures against Russian interference, and Flake was like, why would I, a hard conservative, not vote for my ideal SCOTUS candidate when Trump won't change his behavior?

GOP is not your friend, they aren't your last resort, they won't do a thing, even those who don't have anything to lose. They still want their SCOTUS before country.

by Anonymousreply 38July 19, 2018 6:39 AM

The 2016 Presidential election should be annulled and a Special election held to replace Trump/Pence. The f**king GOP is angling for the Supreme Court. Screw all other talk! We need to focus on the fuckery that’s going down with Kennedy and his obvious kompromat with Deutsh bank. Citizens United should be struck down because of this. The GOP is only concerned about WhO replaces Kennedy. Why the hell is the media not shedding light on this other point of treason!

by Anonymousreply 39July 19, 2018 6:40 AM

It's time to impeach Trump, says outgoing Texas GOP lawmaker Jason Villalba

The only, ONLY remedy is to vote these fuckers out of Congress!

It's getting more vital to take over the Senate to block Trump from appointing more extremist judges. I said it in the last thread -- it's more likely than some other of the GOP SCOTUSes will stoop to pressure to retire so that Trump can appoint a much younger replacement who will fuck us over and over for decades. And god forbid something happens to any of the Dem justices while we can't do anything about it.

Go out and prod people to vote this midterms.

by Anonymousreply 41July 19, 2018 6:48 AM

Mueller has fallen into a never-ending rabbit hole. It’s that deep! This will include all the dark money that has flowed out to the GOP from the Russian-funded NRA. You hear it hear first: Faux News is also Russian funded for years. I never believed the Roger Ailes simply “accidentally fell” down stairs and dead.

by Anonymousreply 42July 19, 2018 6:49 AM

No NEW election. Give it to the rightfully elected President, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Whatever you feel or think, she rightfully won and thus should be the rightful President today.

by Anonymousreply 43July 19, 2018 6:50 AM

Agreed. Hillary won; she is the lawful president.

by Anonymousreply 44July 19, 2018 7:06 AM

The Trump-Putin press conference does look like a hostage tape (for Trump), but watching him in it just made me think that all his appearances look like hostage tapes. Somebody has something on him. All his energies are going into covering up his his total ownedness and projecting his old fake mastery, and it's getting harder and harder.

by Anonymousreply 45July 19, 2018 7:35 AM

Everything the Republican Party did this last two years need to be reversed immediately. It cannot be that the treasonous laws and appointments (of judges) of these Russian assets can be kept in place. They were clearly set up to destroy the US. It cannot be that a corrupt, and illegitimate, system can harm the US for decades without proper punishment.

by Anonymousreply 46July 19, 2018 8:18 AM

I guess nobody is surprised to find out that the projecting GOP "Deep State" has their secret pro-Russia network?

Quite frankly it should be a legit law to at least slap Republicans and their supporters (including Deplorables) or put them out of their stupid misery whenever they say stupid shit. At least a "get out of jail" card.

by Anonymousreply 47July 19, 2018 8:24 AM

Get out of gulag, more like it.

by Anonymousreply 48July 19, 2018 8:26 AM

I believe both Putin and Trump took advantage of what the GOP already created. I have no doubt that the GOP has done voter fraud on a grand scale in the past (GWB, jr.'s first election, Rove's freak out at Obama re-election night). Putin infiltrated the GOP with the help of Russian oligarchs throwing money at these greedy bastards, he bought the ones he could and blackmailed others (with hookers and other sordid or criminal stuff). Trump took advantage of the GOP's divisive "Divide & Conquer" strategies and forming his own Deplorable base believing his bullshit like "Drain the Swamp", because it came from the guy who once promised to find Obama's long form birth certificate.

The GOP is compromised on so many levels. Corruption and the whole vote hacking putting attention to past elections that favored the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 49July 19, 2018 8:48 AM

Trump will drain the swamp right after he finds Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate. IMPEACH!!!

by Anonymousreply 50July 19, 2018 9:09 AM

Mitch McConnell: $2.5 million

Marco Rubio: $1.5 million

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker: $1.1 million

Trump Inaugural Committee: $1 million

Lindsey Graham: $800,000

John Kasich: $250,000

Indeed the deep state is Russia. I read an article in the Times today, an opinion piece. House GOP refuses to renew election security funding as Democrats fume over Russian interference.

House Republicans plan to vote Thursday on a spending bill that excludes new money for election security grants to states, provoking a furious reaction from Democrats amid a national controversy over Russian election interference.

Republicans argued strenuously in floor debate Wednesday that states had plenty of money from prior congressional allocations to spend on election improvements. But Democrats accused the Republicans of abetting President Trump in his refusal to take a hard line against Russian President Vladimir Putin at this week’s summit in Helsinki.

On Jan. 5, 2017, Trump asks in a tweet why the FBI didn't examine the DNC server, alluding to a conspiracy theory that Russia didn't do it. The next day, he gets a classified briefing that they did do it.

On July 16, 2018, addressing the world alongside Vladimir Putin, he repeated the server line.

Clint Watts made a great point on MSNBC last night:

Look at Trump's firing of Comey knowing what we learned last night — through the lens that he had been briefed in detail, and shown proof, about Russian meddling in January.

In May, he was still telling Lester Holt he fired Comey because "this thing with Trump and Russia" was a "made-up thing."
I read an article in the Times today, an opinion piece. The Xtian Right Wing has been cultivating relationships with the Eastern Bloc for years due to their bond over White Christian purity. Oh and their anti-LGBT agenda

This. The pro-Russia factions in the United States can be explained by studying the overlaps between the US nativist evangelicals, the anti-tech 'primito-anarchist' anti-civilisationists (e.g. John Zerzan) who take their ideas from Thoreau, the Unabomber, and Catholic theologian Jacques Ellul, neo-pagan neo-Nazi groups, and the followers of Alexandr Dugin - the Russian philosopher who is taught in Russian political and military academies, and who advocates 'immanent eschatotlogy' - the end of the world. Dugin is not well liked by US evangelical Christians (see link) but is very popular with Bannon and the alt-right pseudo-intellectuals. Dugin despises Western liberalism ('cultural Marxism') and in particular, any understanding of gender as anything other than binary biological sex identities.

Frank Figliuzzi is a former FBI Assistant Director for Counterintelligence , and now comments on msnbc,

Yesterday, when they were discussing Trump lying and covering for Putin in Helsinki despite the indictments against the Russians, he read on air the definition of Accessory after the Fact and said that Trump's actions - at the minimum - fall under this definition of criminal conduct.

by Anonymousreply 63July 19, 2018 12:21 PM

Former FBI Agent and CNN contributor Asha Rangappa: ‏ Text to me from former FBI Counterintelligence Special Agent (who voted for Trump and retired a million years ago): "When are you going to say it on air: 'He's a controlled asset of the Russian government.'"

by Anonymousreply 64July 19, 2018 12:38 PM

r43, r44, You're both dreaming; they can't just "give" Hillary the presidency like that after all this time.

They can't even have a new election after all this time.

Unless something else ousts him before then, we will have to wait until 2020 to vote the Orange Bastard out.

by Anonymousreply 65July 19, 2018 1:01 PM

r40, the key word there is "outgoing."

by Anonymousreply 66July 19, 2018 1:02 PM

R65, screw you, she wouldn’t be “given” the presidency—she fucking WON it.

by Anonymousreply 67July 19, 2018 1:21 PM

I'm so glad others here are FINALLY calling out the "Takin' It To The Streets With Violence!" Nancy Pelosi Troll on here. He really IS trying to sew divisiveness here, not pump people up. He's using Putin's tactics and I'm so glad others are FINALLY seeing through him instead of defending him.

by Anonymousreply 68July 19, 2018 1:24 PM

r67, it still can't be done. There's nothing in the constitution that allows for that sort of action to take place.

In the end, we must remain a country of laws.

by Anonymousreply 69July 19, 2018 1:25 PM
@realDonaldTrump - The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. by Anonymousreply 70July 19, 2018 1:35 PM
No NEW election. Give it to the rightfully elected President, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Whatever you feel or think, she rightfully won and thus should be the rightful President today.

This times about 1,000,000.
There's nothing in the constitution that allows for that sort of action to take place. In the end, we must remain a country of laws.

There are mechanisms completely within the law to accomplish this. And they all start with Congress getting rid of Trump and Pence -- which is a very good place to start.

She won the election, and the presidency was stolen from her by a cabal of traitors who worked with an enemy of the United States to advance their own interests.

by Anonymousreply 71July 19, 2018 1:39 PM

Ugh R70 so over his fake news media rants. He needs to just come out, grow the little moustache, and screen Leni Riefenstahl movies on the White House Lawn at this point.

by Anonymousreply 72July 19, 2018 1:40 PM

Let's be real honest... if the Presidency was stolen from any other candidate that wasn't Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrats would be putting up at least half a fight to demand that she be given her rightfully won place as President.

But because it's her, fucking crickets.

by Anonymousreply 73July 19, 2018 1:46 PM

He just posted a clip from Fox News showing all the times he talked about Russian meddling. The sad thing is, even in a clip put together by his sycophants, in almost every statement shown in the clip he is trying to mitigate Russian's involvement almost always saying it could also be others. Even in the Fox News defense, he comes off very tepid in his calling out of Russia.

by Anonymousreply 74July 19, 2018 1:47 PM

She won, and as I said on a previous thread, better legal minds than you have indeed weighed in and said that if vote totals were changed, there are mechanisms in the Constitution to install the rightful winner of a general election president.

SHE FUCKING WON.

by Anonymousreply 75July 19, 2018 1:53 PM

On AC360 last night Jeffrey Toobin parroted what Jake Tapper had said on his show earlier in the day-that Trump actually believes Russia didn’t attack our democracy. How fucking riduculous must they both feel now with the news today about Trump being handed proof two weeks before the inauguration?

by Anonymousreply 76July 19, 2018 1:56 PM

John Schindler: My GOP DC Friends - If you (and it's plural, quite plural) stuck your d*ck in Comrade Butina call your lawyer now, this morning, to set up a chat with the FBI. You are in deep trouble. This will not look good when it comes out. And it will. You know who you are....

Rick Wilson: Especially if you're a certain prominent conservative thought leader. Lawyer up!

by Anonymousreply 77July 19, 2018 1:57 PM

You can rant all you want, it's not happening.

Unless Mueller comes up with something that leads to Trump's ouster from office, the next best way to get him out will be to vote him out in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 78July 19, 2018 1:59 PM

Maybe I am wrong but I think Pence will have to step down soon.

by Anonymousreply 79July 19, 2018 2:02 PM

No one is ranting, and I can only guess that the reason you do not support the democratic outcome of a legally elected winner is that you want a do-over in which cosplay socialist Bernie “Lakehouse & Lobster Sliders” Sanders gets to win.

That is not supporting democracy. Nor is insisting on the “next vote in 2018” either. You should be fucking outraged that a coup has occurred, not plotting how to get your regressive-left objet du jour in office. She beat Bernie by 4 million too, by the way, despite his campaign hacking into the DNC by the orders of Manafort-bestie Tad Devine.

by Anonymousreply 80July 19, 2018 2:05 PM

r62 that would explain the rapid increase of anti trans posts in DL. Those are from the trolls too.

by Anonymousreply 92July 19, 2018 2:33 PM

From "Paint Your Wagon," whippersnapper r90.

And it "means" about as much as any other title (although I like it for indictments).

r93, am I a "whippersnapper" or are you just an old fart? Perhaps both. Anyway, that name still doesn't make much sense. I like when the titles make some bit of sense, or have a double meaning at least.

But I'm not in charge of the title selecting so...whatever.

by Anonymousreply 97July 19, 2018 2:57 PM

A positive I see in all this is that if Hillary was elected the vast conspiracy between Republicans, the NRA, and Russia would have grown even larger and more insidious in their attempts to discredit and impeach her. Hearing after hearing, overseen by Goudy etc, would be neverending. They would have had four or eight more years to expand their evil. With the incompetent, dishonest, stupid trump in office the charade has been exposed iand we should be able to excise the cancer before it spread further. Now, hopefully, midterm elections are coming the repubs are broken and disgraced. Their name is Mudd and the name Trump will soon come to mean filthy treason.

I want the scum out now. I'm one who favors installing President H. Clinton, the rightful winner, and reversing every single heinous action trump has enacted since he was inaugurated. Lock him up!

by Anonymousreply 100July 19, 2018 3:06 PM

What is the meaning of ITA?

Jane Sanders broke a college. The Same and relatives don't need to be handling taxpayer funds. After Scott Pruitt, voters need to get a clue.

If CNN wants to feature the Sanders so much, put them in charge of their corporate finances.

EVERYONE needs to be calling the fringe GOP senators....Flake, Collins, Murkowski, McCain, etc........and ask them why, if they are so appalled about what Trump is doing , they arent crossing the aisle to work with Democrats to oust McConnell and properly investigate the issues. All it takes is TWO (2) Senators to caucus with the Dems and McConnell loses control and things can get on a proper track. We need to demand they put their money where their mouths are and to put country over party. THEY WONT.......WHY ?

by Anonymousreply 111July 19, 2018 4:23 PM

My dream is Mueller’s next round of indictments targets GOP Congressmembers.

Weed those enablers out so true American representatives can get down to the business of ousting this “controlled Russian operative” from the White House.

by Anonymousreply 112July 19, 2018 4:33 PM

Former CIA officer and once-frequent cable TV guest Michael Scheuer telling Trump supporters that they must stand ready to kill Trump opponents:

As this week’s end, it seems likely that it is quite near time for killing those involved in the multiple and clearly delineated attempts to stage a coup d’état against the legitimately elected Trump government and thereby kill our republic.

No self-respecting and determined-to-remain-independent citizenry can let themselves forever be held hostage by thug-civil-servants like Strzok, Comey, McCabe, Page, and Rosenstein; worshipers of tyranny, like the Democratic members of Congress, the Clintons, the FBI, and the Obamas; apparent traitors like Brennan, Hayden, and Clapper; all of the mainstream media; and the tens of thousands of government-admitted-and-protected, violent, criminal, and illegal immigrants.

American patriots have so far, praise God, been remarkably disciplined in not responding to tyranny and violence with violence. For now they must remain so, armed but steady. But the time for such patience is fast slipping away; indeed, that patience is quickly becoming an obviously rank and self-destructive foolishness. If Trump does not act soon to erase the above noted tyranny and tyrants, the armed citizenry must step in and eliminate them.

Ok I’m going to link to and then quote from a Politico article written 4 days before the 2016 election.

11/04/16

[bold] Pro-Trump former FBI official says he's channeling agents' rage [/bold]

A former top FBI official who has claimed insight into the bureau’s rank and file's outrage over the handling of an investigation into Hillary Clinton confirmed Thursday that he has been in touch with active agents after denying it in an interview published earlier in the day.

Jim Kallstrom, who headed the FBI’s New York field office in the 1990s, has spent months citing anonymous sources within the bureau to warn that many there were upset by Director James Comey’s decision to recommend against charges for Clinton related to her use of a personal email server during her tenure as secretary of state. [bold] Kallstrom, who has endorsed Donald Trump for president, has suggested in past interviews that he has spoken with active FBI agents, including some working on the Clinton investigation, which if true, would mean the agents broke bureau protocol to discuss a case [/bold]

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 126July 19, 2018 5:07 PM

“I know some of the agents,” Kallstrom said in a past interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who had asked him about the FBI’s investigation into Clinton. “I know some of the supervisors and I know the senior staff. And they’re P.O.’d, I mean, no question. This is like someone driving another nail in the coffin of the criminal justice system.”

But according to a Daily Beast article published Thursday, Kallstrom first denied speaking at all to any active FBI agents and said his assessment of the mood of the bureau’s rank and file was based exclusively on conversations with retired agents. But later in that same interview, he said that he did interact with active agents who had reached out to him.

Kallstrom stuck with that story Thursday night on Fox News’s “The Kelly File,” where he disputed the Daily Beast’s assessment that he had claimed to have spoken with active FBI agents investigating Clinton.

11/04/16

“Well, they can write what they want. I never did claim I talked to the actual agents. I would never do that. I would never call up people that were investigating something and even put them on the spot. I wouldn't do that,” Kallstrom said. “But I've talked to hundreds and hundreds of people in the FBI -- mostly retired people and some people that are currently on the job that are not directly involved, but, you know, it's a small organization. You know, they know what's going on.”
AGAIN, NOBODY (ESPECIALLY MSM) IS FOCUSING ON THE FACT THAT IN THE BUTINA INDICTMENT THEY STATED THAT THERE ARE SECRET SOCIETIES WITHIN THE GOP THAT SUPPORT A RUSSIAN AGENDA.

Without being able to say exactly who those people are it sounds very conspiracy-esque, which can get very murky.
So far this morning, the GOP has refused to provide additional funding for state election security and blocked a subpoena for the Helsinki summit translator.

Unsurprising but still infuriating!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 128July 19, 2018 5:08 PM

11/04/16

“And the agents are furious. And I haven't walked anything back,” he continued. “I didn't walk anything up that deserved to be walked back. So I don't know what they're talking about.”

[bold] Kallstrom, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, is the founder of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which was the beneficiary of the fundraiser Trump held last January instead of attending a GOP primary debate in Iowa. According to the Daily Beast, Kallstrom’s foundation has received at least three major gifts from the Manhattan billionaire, two of which came during the campaign, totaling over $1.3 million. [/bold]

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who Kallstrom told the Daily Beast is "a very good friend" of his, has similarly claimed to have a pipeline of information coming from the FBI's rank and file, offering a similar assessment of its mood to the one Kallstrom has. [bold] A week ago, Giuliani teased "a couple of surprises" from the Trump campaign just days before Comey announced that the FBI is examining additional, potentially new evidence related to Clinton's email scandal. He declined to elaborate at the time what those surprises would be, but said they would be "enormously effective." [/bold]

by Anonymousreply 133July 19, 2018 5:14 PM

The former head of the NY FBI bureau took a bribe from Trump and worked for the Russians.

PS - Kallstrom also lied and changed eyewitness testimony about TWA Flight 800. He HATES Bill and Hillary Clinton and his hatred goes back at least to Flight 800.

Not only should Hillary be installed, her term starts from day ONE. She gets a FULL 4 year term to start.

r115 This fucking guy. I wondered when he'd pop up in this. Michael Sheuer was in charge of Alec Station before 9/11. He's the one who was instrumental in withholding intel from the FBI, and training his sub-ordinates to withhold info, including the fact the CIA knew two members of Al-Quaeda were in the US. They were two of the hijackers. If the FBI had known, they would have put surveillance on them and could have possibly stopped 9/11. He then had the nerve to write that FBI agent John O'Neill and Richard Clarke were the "authors" of 9/11.

Dude is crazy as a shithouse rat and seems to be getting crazier by the minute.

White House walks back yesterday's claim that Putin's request to interrogate U.S. citizens was under consideration:

"It is a proposal that was made in sincerity by President Putin, but President Trump disagrees with it," press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. "Hopefully President Putin will have the 12 identified Russians come to the United States to prove their innocence or guilt."

Republican Tom Nichols responds: “A proposal made in sincerity by Putin.” JFC, they can’t even walk it back without blowing a kiss to Putin. It wasn’t made “in sincerity,” it was a trap, set out there with malice, and Trump stepped right into it.

by Anonymousreply 144July 19, 2018 6:28 PM

I think this has been in play for a very long time.

There have been too many very odd things happen in the Repugs favor. Someone mentioned the Rove freakout. You could just SEE on his face he KNEW the outcome was supposed to be different yet the polls pointed to an Obama win. McConnell and Garland. He KNEW who was going to win.

Fingers crossed all these treasonous bastards get hanged.

“T. Devine.”

R145, I've mentioned the Rove thing here too. Yeah, he and the blonde bimbo were incredulous. She stomped back into the office with a cameraman following her to verify. I think the Repubs have been rigging elections for a long time.

Miss Lindsey doing damage control for Trump is getting bizarre.

Mixing being a Trump sychophant with oscillation, while trying to take on a role as "fixer", is not making sense. But cable media loves to accommodate it.

by Anonymousreply 152July 19, 2018 6:46 PM

R147, I'm no fan of Megyn Kelly, but I recall that moment with her and Rove and he was the only one who was incredulous. She simply reported the projection. After he began his hissy fit, she had the camera follow her to the room with the Fox analysts and they explained their perfectly reasonable rationale for the projection. Rove wasn't happy, of course, but he backed off.

And yes, I agree that the GOP has been rigging elections for a while.

by Anonymousreply 158July 19, 2018 7:03 PM

It is truly bizarre how his summit, being a complete, total disaster, is being downplayed to an extent. This was as bad as it gets. His backtrack made things worse (if you have even a lukewarm IQ or any integrity at all) that this whole thing should rise to red alert.

by Anonymousreply 166July 19, 2018 7:52 PM

The cable media will have a couple days of dismay over Trump; then host a bunch of Trump advocates who have been given their talking points to moderate perception and spin where they can.

This happens over and over with every Trump absurdity. When will enough be enough? Not everything Trump does needs alternative explaining.

by Anonymousreply 178July 19, 2018 8:33 PM

R171, who did you vote for?

by Anonymousreply 179July 19, 2018 8:34 PM

Today Dump trashed the Fed, signed an EO that establishes a "workforce council" to address employment for the blue-collar "vocational crisis" and said he wants a second date with Putin. Gotta get back those headlines and convince the base that down is up.

Is the vocational crisis a sub-bullet of Infrastructure Week?

During the campaign Hillary laid out a point-by-point roadmap for blue-collar re-education and workplace replenishment for jobs of the future, incorporating digital and infrastructure. Seventeen months in and Dumpbucket has to issue an EO just to look at the issue? Remember this when people say there's no difference between parties.

Dems should hire 500 psychologists to go out and give field training to party members. Teach them how to recognize and discuss sociopathic behavior, grooming and recovery. Dems need to roll out their greatest hits, showing their historical contributions to the middle class and workers. Stable isn't sexy. Middle of the road isn't sexy. Policy isn't sexy. But a strong, vibrant and enviable middle class is the backbone of everything right about this country, and is a stronger statement than any propaganda.

This week's one-two punch landed quickly after the child separations and the empathetic have noticed. GOP Men and women have criticized Dump and I know the word treason' is coming across their feeds because it is on mine.

A poster in an earlier thread hit on why the stakes are so high right now: If Mueller and multiple countries' IC expose the heart of these Russian efforts, then this whole fascist/brexit movement gets taken down and the gravy train stops for those involved. They're pulling every authoritarian gaslight trick in the book and will send every available troll online to present hole.

This is pretty fast. Too fast. And no one in the White House seems to know what’s going on, what the agreements are. He’s acting like a dictator.

by Anonymousreply 188July 19, 2018 9:05 PM

LOL. Coates was on stage with Dana Bash in Aspen, and she broke the news to him. Trump might as well go on and fire every last person in the WH. He doesn't need them.

by Anonymousreply 189July 19, 2018 9:11 PM

Dictator. And no one is checking him.

by Anonymousreply 190July 19, 2018 9:16 PM

The media needs to just play his game. Anything he says from now on, they need to ask "So, are you sure you? Let me read back what you said to make sure you meant every word. I just don't want you to misspeak and have to clarify tomorrow." EVERY FUCKING DAY FROM NOW ON.

by Anonymousreply 191July 19, 2018 9:25 PM

Susan Glasser in the NEW YORKER (on line) today describes how Trump has single-handedly broken American foreign policy in Helsinki. Not one other person is "in the loop." Not even Bolton. Certainly not Pompeo, not Coats or anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 192July 19, 2018 9:32 PM

Better, the media should just ignore Trump's tweets and statements from the White House, treating it as a frivolous commentary, and fixate on statements from people like Coats and Mueller.

by Anonymousreply 193July 19, 2018 9:33 PM

R189, it was Pizzaface Andrea Mitchell, not Dana Bash.

I wonder if Putin will be here for the big military parade in November.

Transcript from the third debate Clinton - Trump

Trump: Putin from everything I see has no respect for this person.

Clinton: Well, that's because he would rather have a puppet as president of the United States. Trump: No puppet. You're the puppet. Clinton: It is pretty clear you won't admit that the Russians have engaged in cyber attacks against the United States of America. That you encouraged espionage against our people. That you are willing to spout the Putin line, sign up for his wish list, break up NATO, do whatever he wants to do. And that you continue to get help from him because he has a very clear favorite in this race. So I think that this is such an unprecedented situation. We've never had a foreign government trying to interfere in our election. We have 17, 17 intelligence agencies, civilian and military who have all concluded that these espionage attacks, these cyber attacks, come from the highest levels of the Kremlin. And they are designed to influence our election. I find that deeply disturbing.

Wallace: Secretary Clinton

Clinton: And I think it is time

Trump: She has no idea whether it is Russia, China or anybody else.

Clinton: I am not quoting myself.

Trump: You have no idea.

Clinton: I am quoting 17, 17 -- do you doubt?

Trump: Our country has no idea.

Clinton: Our military and civilian

Trump: Yeah, I doubt it, I doubt it.

Clinton: He would rather believe Vladimir Putin than the military and civilian intelligence professionals who are sworn to protect us. I find that just absolutely disturbing.

by Anonymousreply 197July 19, 2018 9:37 PM

Poor Hilary. She warned us but no one listened. She must have felt so all alone and helpless. It's of little consolation now that she has been proven right.

by Anonymousreply 198July 19, 2018 9:43 PM

She was always right. About virtually everything. We listened. She won. The election was stolen.

by Anonymousreply 199July 19, 2018 9:47 PM

agree, r199.

Some of us listened. We knew. We believed her and still do.

I want to kick a bunch of deplorables in the cunt repeatedly for her.

by Anonymousreply 200July 19, 2018 9:54 PM

Putin's fall visit will be the victory lap, and no doubt scheduled after the November elections.

by Anonymousreply 201July 19, 2018 10:10 PM

Does someone know more about the “secret” Riussian agenda within the republicans ranks!?

by Anonymousreply 202July 19, 2018 10:12 PM

r202.....really ?!?......just look around at their obstruction and rhetoric and empty comments with no action......not to mention the money the majority of them took from Russia.

by Anonymousreply 203July 19, 2018 10:22 PM

R40. I’m dumbfounded at the Comments section of the article. I cannot believe the blind, blinkered, outright irrational arguments of Trump supporters.

by Anonymousreply 204July 19, 2018 10:34 PM

R204 Notice how FNC went ALL IN with Dumpster? No doubt, Putin gave them some propaganda advice. RW propaganda is so pervasive. They learned to perfect it from the master.

I want to see how much this disastrous summit sinks in for 'enough' of them. If he gets away with this, well, it's bad.

Dems stole one of the most irritating catchphrase / corporate slogans imaginable.

by Anonymousreply 207July 19, 2018 11:23 PM

"Make America America Again" sounds better than "for the People" adapted by House Democrats for the 2018 mid-terms. These Democrats sound like it's 1952 and they are running Adli Stevenson against Ike.

by Anonymousreply 208July 19, 2018 11:41 PM

So today some soybean farmer was interviewed (on MSNBC, I think). Trump voter. Hurting severely now because of the new and insane tariffs, this one on China.

Jerk is still hoping that Trump's "long-range plan" won't destroy him and his cohorts in the here and now. That it will all work out.

Suffer, pal. You helped destroy democracy along with your own livelihood.

by Anonymousreply 209July 19, 2018 11:41 PM

r208, and we all remember how successful that 1952 campaign was don't we?

by Anonymousreply 210July 19, 2018 11:49 PM

R209 I've already sent my prayers and thoughts to them for bringing about their own suffering.

We need to stop interviewing these people. They are beyond help. *We tried to warn you*

by Anonymousreply 211July 19, 2018 11:55 PM

a poll came out today and almost 45% of those polled thought Trumps meeting with Putin was a good idea. I think its a combination of not really following daily events and or only getting your news from fox or like minded on line sites. So this universal condemnation is realy only for people that keep abreast of current events and are have way intelligent. This eliminates a good chunk of the voting population. Frankly I dont see Trump having any negative consequences with his current behavior......EXCEPT the leak yesterday about Trump being fully briefed about the Russian attack on our election with irrefutable proof..... occurred prior to him even being sworn in.........my hunch is the intelligence community leaked this and has had enuf of Trump and will maybe do everything in its power to get him out of office. Its going to take unearthing even worse stuff for action to be taken. I am not optimistic........I think there might be a title wave in Nov swinging the house and senate to the dems, but you never know what tricks the Russians have to avert that..........if we go dem, I see a slight chance of A Trump impeachment, other than that I see Trump running in 2020 and depending on who the dems run, Trump might be with us a long time.............

by Anonymousreply 212July 20, 2018 12:00 AM

So, how much money is Russia going to pour into the Mid-terms? It is going to be an ugly ass Fall.

by Anonymousreply 213July 20, 2018 12:03 AM

I think R209's soybean farmer is on a cry me a river tour on MSM. ar As for Dems, slogan or no slogan, what should be the tenet of all Dem candidates is the threat of a Rethug Congress taking away aka privatizing and cutting Medicare, SS, etc. The Rethugs already are saying the economy is doing so well and poverty is eliminated, so there's no more need for food stamps.

That should be the general rallying cry bc it directly concerns the midterms. The wherever appropriate they can pile on other concerns like judges, corruption and of Treasonous Cheeto.

by Anonymousreply 214July 20, 2018 12:04 AM

Overheard this group at a big table this morning talking politics. They are older white m & f evangelicals, not college educated from their speaking. All look to be on Social Security, receiving Medicare, and maybe a pension for some of them. They don't see a problem with Russia, claiming Russia has become America's best friend due to Trump. One woman claimed "the Lord sent Trump to us" and she's praying for him. Then one mentioned Hillary's Emails are the reason for all the problems, and Obama set up Trump with an investigation run by Democrats.

The waitress at the counter saw me rolling my eyes, and noted one of them was her husband. She laughed and says he has Fox News on constantly when he's home. She's from Miami, but he's not. I told her she had my sympathy, with a smile.

You can't argue with these fundamentalists. They have to be out-voted. And they DO vote, "religiously".

by Anonymousreply 215July 20, 2018 12:04 AM

r212, you sound so "concerned" about it all.

by Anonymousreply 216July 20, 2018 12:12 AM
You can't argue with these fundamentalists. They have to be out-voted. And they DO vote, "religiously".

This is what I don't get. We've known since the heyday of the Moral Majority that these fundamentalists and evangelicals vote, they're values voters. In the 2000s they were okay with 'truthiness' and the 'reality-based' people were the opponents. By "we" I mean people who've lived in the US for at least 20 years and have some awareness of news and current affairs. Then some obscene, bullying, syphilitic, word-salad reality-TV dude and failed entrepreneur with two divorces and no moral scruples gets the nomination for the Republican party and close to a hundred million Americans can't be bothered to vote. "Oh no elderly religious person's vote is worth cancelling out, let them have their President." I cannot wrap my head around that kind of thinking, and I think it's because as an immigrant, I'm sensitive to the "lurn somethin' bout our country" barbs even though I know enough to be 'malevolently informed' I don't know what it's like to be a native citizen here floating on the privilege of where I was born, don't know what it is to have an 'average' American level of education. I don't know what it's like to be a citizen and think that it's okay to not vote against the obviously unqualified candidate and to not vote at all.

by Anonymousreply 217July 20, 2018 12:16 AM

R212 check your figures. Where's the source of this fatalistic tone?

by Anonymousreply 218July 20, 2018 12:18 AM

Per the link at R184, there are 436 exhibits listed by the prosecution for the Manafort trial.

If I’m reading the information at the link I’ve included below correctly, the list of exhibits in the trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg total only 33.

Pauline, you in danger, gurl!

And any footage of the transcript at R197 should be run on ALL networks ad nauseum.

by Anonymousreply 219July 20, 2018 12:20 AM

Continuing from r217, if you came across an American adult citizen who consciously chose not to vote, and asked "are you okay with what's happening to migrants following legal channels for entry, their families forcibly separated, children barely old enough to talk alone and unassisted in court, are you okay with tax cuts for the 1%, death of net neutrality, white professional legal immigrants detained by ICE for youth misdemeanors committed decades ago? Do you feel good about extreme rightwing partisans choosing a Supreme Court Justice nominee? Do you feel good about your inaction shared with one of over 100 million people? Do you believe you made a constructive and positive contribution to your country's future?" What do you think his or her or eir response would be?

It makes me despair how many there are of them, that sixteen months of punditry, soundbites, 24/7 news channel noise on radio, television, websites, podcasts, RSS feeds are not enough to inform a typical American informed suitably to cast a thought-out vote for the future the country should have.

by Anonymousreply 220July 20, 2018 12:25 AM

R220 We know their responses already. They would say, with a straight face, there is no difference between the parties and both are corrupt and crooked. It's just sickening.

by Anonymousreply 221July 20, 2018 12:28 AM

R204 You can trust the comments section of anything these days. Most of the comments are from the Russian Troll farms, You can tell because they show up within 5 minutes, not enough time for most Americans to have even seen the articles.

by Anonymousreply 222July 20, 2018 12:31 AM

^^can't.

by Anonymousreply 223July 20, 2018 12:31 AM

I think exposure to lead plays a role in deplorables reasoning.

It’s the only logical explaination.

by Anonymousreply 224July 20, 2018 12:33 AM

R222 Exactly. I noticed that back in 2016. There would be hundreds of comments within minutes. It was so obvious. These trolls are hysterical. They say the same stupid shit over and over.

by Anonymousreply 225July 20, 2018 12:36 AM

I liked your comment but it's not the only logical explanation. I've yet to be dissuaded from nurturing and retaining my pet theory that Alzheimer's is Type 3 Diabetes and the half-a-lifetime exposure to processed food and greater amounts of sugar in all prepared foods and carbonated beverages leads to formation and proliferation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles.

"Shirley? Where's my bowl of Froot Loops? The morning news on FOX is about to come on and I can't unwedge myself from the Barcalounger!"

by Anonymousreply 226July 20, 2018 12:40 AM

They should have a recurring deplorables family sketch on SNL - a la Mama’s Family.

What they eat, watch, believe, do and say.

by Anonymousreply 227July 20, 2018 12:45 AM

If democrats would only say they support an end of illegal immigration and beefing up border security it would be so much easier to win. They don’t have to say they support a wall, just more money for border security. People are very angry about illegal immigration and they want it to stop. They don’t care about people overstaying visas, they care about the southern border.

by Anonymousreply 228July 20, 2018 12:49 AM

R228 Where have you been? The Dems (and MANY Repugs) wanted comprehensive immigration reform for years. Who STOPS it every fucking time? The Repugs. Hmmmmmm I wonder why? It's a GREAT issue for them, that's why!

The Dems don't support illegal immigration. Do you honestly believe that?

Perception IS a problem for the Dems regarding the border but perception isn't reality.

by Anonymousreply 229July 20, 2018 12:54 AM

Seth Abramson's twitter feed reporting Putin, in his closed-door, no-witness meeting, got Trump to agree to allowing annexation of more of Ukraine (via another referendum with a pre-determined outcome).

by Anonymousreply 230July 20, 2018 12:56 AM

R220, they’re tricking you. There are NOT more of them you fool!!!! It’s what the other posters said, the comments sections are filled by troll farms. We VASTLY outnumber these losers!

I have found the best response to these simpletons is, “Oh, so you only give a shit when it hurts YOU?” And I keep repeating that. I’m telling you, it neutralizes them like Clorox on puppy piss. They actually have no response to that one. Just keep asking them that. Because it’s the same thing as saying, “so you’re just a big asshole, huh?” They have no response, they aren’t that quick on their feet.

by Anonymousreply 231July 20, 2018 12:57 AM

Listen, I'm sure if we give Putin Ukraine he'll stop there and everything will be fine.

by Anonymousreply 232July 20, 2018 12:58 AM

Just saw that Kirstjen Nielson (or whatever) interviewed. She is affecting Ivanka's voice and tone; it's rather creepy.

by Anonymousreply 233July 20, 2018 1:00 AM

R229 I totally agree. But you hit the nail on the head. The Dems have a severe messaging problem, they don’t know how to drive a story or control the media, and the Rethugs do. R228 is a FOOL and doesn’t realize the Dems are on his side!!! He (or she or it) actually BELIEVES the Dems want no controls on Immigration. You can’t talk to stupid. But that poster is very symbolic of the whole problem. These people aren’t self-aware or intelligent enough to see that they’ve been hoodwinked.

by Anonymousreply 234July 20, 2018 1:01 AM
I have found the best response to these simpletons is, “Oh, so you only give a shit when it hurts YOU?” And I keep repeating that. I’m telling you, it neutralizes them like Clorox on puppy piss. They actually have no response to that one.

Weird, because I've seen this tactic used over and over and I always see the same response, "It's different."

by Anonymousreply 235July 20, 2018 1:01 AM

r231 you must have meant to reply to r222. I at r220 made no mention of article or forum comments. I am prepared with 2016 stats from the Election Project to support my assertion of low voter turnout, and several results from searching online for "2016 us election voter turnout." by Anonymousreply 241July 20, 2018 1:34 AM

R236 I AM talking about real life conversations so don't say it's bullshit. I've seen it happen over and over. Deplorables always say, "it's different," when confronted with anything they can't answer including, "So you don't care unless it happens to you."

by Anonymousreply 242July 20, 2018 1:41 AM

r242 I hope you can strengthen your already commendable willingness to communicate with Deplorables to push back with "how is it different? what if you were in their position?"

by Anonymousreply 243July 20, 2018 1:45 AM

That's a cop out answer r242, and you know it.

by Anonymousreply 244July 20, 2018 1:45 AM

Really, R244 I had NO idea that their answers were cop out answers!

And R243 yes, and they just repeat the same thing, "It's just different." They literally don't give a shit about anyone else and convince themselves that it's you that doesn't understand. They're masters at brainwashing themselves.

by Anonymousreply 245July 20, 2018 1:53 AM

R244 you sure sound concerned.

by Anonymousreply 246July 20, 2018 1:53 AM

I am afraid that most Americans are so addicted to the Trump spectacle shit show, to the sick entertainment of it all, that they forget that democracy isn't just up to the government but alsoultimately up to the people; it's the responsibility of the people to keep democracy intact.

I can't imagine such a lethargy would have happened in the 70s or 80s. There would be protests everywhere, but with today's youth culture only interested in bling bling and other superficial things, there seems to be no active opposition.

by Anonymousreply 247July 20, 2018 2:09 AM
Unless Mueller comes up with something that leads to Trump's ouster from office, the next best way to get him out will be to vote him out in 2020.

By 2020 Russia and the GOP have undermined the democratic voting process so much, the democrats will never win another election again.

by Anonymousreply 248July 20, 2018 2:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 249July 20, 2018 2:19 AM

R249 Dotard probably thinks it's his own personal concert. Well, minus the "Mexican Music."

by Anonymousreply 250July 20, 2018 2:40 AM

I disagree R247. While I do agree that there is a segment of Americans who are enjoying the Trump show, there's (hopefully) more who are sick and tried of it and just want to go back to law and order and to have a lucid, intelligent and capable person running our country.

by Anonymousreply 251July 20, 2018 2:46 AM

Trump is a traitor. It's time for the Dems and the media and any decent American to shout it from the rooftops and from the news programs and everywhere. It's go time. What is Mueller waiting for dear god. I am losing hope. He just keeps doing the most insane treasonous or near treasonous shit and fuck all happens. I just don't see an end. Please dear god, let it happen soon. Surely they can get him on money laundering if not outright conspiracy to defraud the U.S. I guess when I read that the checks and balances have already failed - and clearly they have- since the legislative and the judicial branches are propping up the orange turd, I want to have hope but mine is almost gone. Fuck. I'll vote, I'll March and protest but please I hope it pays off. I'm so sick.

by Anonymousreply 252July 20, 2018 2:47 AM

The Democrats have only need for one message: help us take back Congress so we can stop Trump.

by Anonymousreply 253July 20, 2018 2:48 AM

R249 - I wish I could show up with my Irish Trad band and jam for hours. I have a friend who plays in an all female mariachi band. If they performed near the White House Trump would lose his mind. Its too bad we’re on the West Coast.

by Anonymousreply 254July 20, 2018 2:51 AM

Am I the only one who notices that, in real life, Deplorables seem less enthusiastic about Trump these days? That Deplorable trash I work with no longer wants to talk about politics anymore. I believe the Republican base isn't going to vote in the midterms, because they are put off by how the conservatives let Trump get away with everything and it fucks up their own lives. The whole "ok, I may suffer but the ones I hate suffer much, much more. WINNING!" doesn't work anymore. There is this sense of shame and embarrassment that prevents them to admit they've been had, but I don't think they will support Trump with votes and his pundits with money anymore.

by Anonymousreply 255July 20, 2018 2:55 AM

Agree

by Anonymousreply 256July 20, 2018 2:58 AM

The article at the link at r62 is fascinating and frightening. It's from 2014 (and from the National Review); but gives a scary, eye-popping insight into the strange ideology that may very well be motivating Putin and his minons. Very strange times we live in.

by Anonymousreply 257July 20, 2018 3:06 AM
That Deplorable trash I work with no longer wants to talk about politics anymore.

A trifling shame. My Deplorable aunt decided without notice to renege on her intent to visit me last month. I live in a very blue state, in its largest city, so I can't find many Deplorables with whom to discuss the ICE detention of white Michigan physician Lukasz Niec, who legally immigrated to the US with his family at the age of 8, and ask how ICE determined his colour, residence, education, occupation made him a likely member of MS-13, the group Deplorables believe is the only demographic ICE is arresting and placing in detention camps. I'd love to see the contortions and backflips minds of white racist Deplorables make to not accept that they look like someone ICE would toss into a camp.

My Deplorable aunt immigrated from the same country I did, at roughly the same age, to the US.

by Anonymousreply 259July 20, 2018 3:09 AM

R255 Deplorables are absolutely less enthusiastic and you're right, will never admit it. However, I have noticed from those around me ( I live in Deplorableland TX) that they, too, have avoided talking politics altogether.

Here's what I have noticed- many are being hurt by his policies and many do not like this Russian shit. They are willing to vote Dem for local shit I think. At least one of the Deplorables I know said they still supported Prez Bone Spurs (they wanted me to be aware of that) but they wanted a check on him so they would pick a few Dems to vote for, maybe.

by Anonymousreply 260July 20, 2018 3:13 AM

That is HYSTERICAL R260. So that’s how they’ll keep their pride, by saying they want to be fair and balanced, so they’ll lob a few Dems his way as a check lol?

R259, can you elaborate? Just his interview with Andrea makes me think he’ll gave a target, and he wasn’t even disrespecting Trump!!! But the fact that he spoke in, well, FACTS, is clearly more than the WH can bear.

I don’t believe that Deplorables say, “It’s different” and if they do and you can’t handle that, you don’t deserve to call yourself an American, pussy up stream. Ridiculous!

by Anonymousreply 261July 20, 2018 3:18 AM

the old, fat racist white men in Ohio still think skid mark is great.

Other idiot deplorables have shut their yaps and refuse to discuss the traitor.

But they will never admit to turning on him to anyone.

by Anonymousreply 262July 20, 2018 3:21 AM

R261 From talking to a few people who have heard similar words from them, yes, they *might* throw a few votes to local Dems. The deplorable I spoke to said *maybe* and yes, they are adamant that they still support him and don't agree with everything he has done but what's the alternative? A non-treasonous President? Perish the thought!

by Anonymousreply 263July 20, 2018 3:22 AM

I work with some highly conservative Christian people (well, fiscally conservative but moderately liberal on social justice issues, they are not blind followers but, they are still church people....) and I do think you’re taking their temperature right r263. So! The fuckers have a glean that maybe everything that comes with having him in the WH isn’t turning out exactly as they hoped? They didn’t plan on being so very very very H.A.T.E.D. They have lost the last crumbs of respectability that came with being traditional and old-fashioned — there is literally no respect left anymore for them or their culture (because of course, they don’t deserve it!!!). They really aren’t used to being truly despised, but now they are. And they do NOT like the feeling.

But in our personal lives, if you’re around some of them, how can we leverage that? It is in fact, one of their few weaknesses. It was ok to have culture wars when it felt like a 50/50 war. Now it’s like 30/70, they don’t like feeling like a hated minority. I’d love to throw even more of it back in their faces. Like to the men, “You know Dave, real men can admit Trump was a mistake. I really think you have it in you to own it.” Or something lololol. Or to the women, “You know I don’t agree with many Republican positions, but I’ve been impressed watching Christian women hold their men to account and letting their husbands know that enough is enough! And wrong is wrong! How’d it go when you checked your husband?”

Just some form of gaslighting, a carrot if you will, to lead them over the finish line. If anything, it will entertain me to try.

by Anonymousreply 264July 20, 2018 3:39 AM
He (or she or it) actually BELIEVES the Dems want no controls on Immigration.

by Anonymousreply 265July 20, 2018 3:47 AM

R264 Well, right now, they are coming to realization that things are bad. Bad bad bad. Despite what the Russian trolls are saying in comments and some die hards, there is a decent chunk of them who shit their pants at his performance during the summit. One lady said: "Well I don't like a lot of what he is doing but we had to put up with 8 years of Obama!" Yes, putting up with Obama was equated to this shitshow. They are scared. Easily scared. And they call us snowflakes? They wanted to win again at any costs. Now, they're not so sure this is winning. They will not admit it now. Or maybe ever. They will say they still support him while secretly feeling he is a disaster.

by Anonymousreply 266July 20, 2018 3:52 AM

You have to start gaslighting the deplorables right back. Tell them Trump died 5 years ago and keep repeating it. Tell them Pence is now president. Tell them that they died too and this is all just purgatory.

Just keep repeating it and then say “well what about...” and just throw something that someone else did in there.

Don’t let them have all the fun.

by Anonymousreply 267July 20, 2018 3:55 AM

Just don’t try to have a constructive conversation with them because then they will hold your sensibilities hostage.

by Anonymousreply 268July 20, 2018 3:55 AM

They want you to lose your cool.

Don’t.

I just laugh, sometimes hysterically, when one tried to debate me about him. They get so pissed and say I don't have a comeback. And just look at them, and bust out laughing again. I'm gonna start using the "Sure, Jan" line now. Thanks, DL!

by Anonymousreply 270July 20, 2018 3:57 AM

I want these people to be shamed as much as possible. Announce them as a Trump voter/supporter -- with all disdain possible -- even when you're saying hello at the grocery, or introducing them to children. Hit them where it counts, their fading sense of entitlement or uniqueness, and make it apparent that's just not so. Remember, this was a guy so desperate for acceptance he tried to get them thinking they're "the super-elite."

by Anonymousreply 271July 20, 2018 3:59 AM

McConnell pulled the judicial nomination of racist, sexist, homophobic Ryan Bounds. Both Oregon senators opposed the nomination. This was the first time since 1956 that a nomination has gone forward over the opposition of both senators. Tim Scott, the black Republican senator from South Carolina, signaled his opposition to the nomination. Turtle McConnell pulled the nomination to avoid an embarrassing loss on the confirmation vote.

The problem is that Trump has no problem nominating scum like Bounds and McConnell has no problem supporting the nomination.

R290, yes, that’s what I’ve been thinking when reading comments of Trump supporters who love Russia and think it’s great Putin and Trump are getting into bed together. Don’t these idiots know their guns will be the first go when Russia really gets a strong influence here and manipulate our politicians to their will? Are they really that stupid to think they will get to keep their guns? The Repugs are playing a dangerous game and will destroy themselves in the end.

by Anonymousreply 296July 20, 2018 6:31 AM

We have a President who deeply admires Putin and will give him everything and anything he wants. Already, from that two hour meeting, he was willing to hand over American citizens for interrogation to a murdering thug.

He thinks so little of US citizens, they even don’t register as human.

by Anonymousreply 306July 20, 2018 8:23 AM

Bullies like Deplorables and GOP pundis (and yes, I include SJW plants) don't engage in an actual discussion. They present their talking points and demand of you to not just accept them, but to let go of your own opinion and join their cause. And if you don't obey you are their sworn enemy.

They demand to be met with respect and civility, but refuse to treat others with respect and in a civilized manner. They cheat but demand that their enemies play by the rules (so that it makes it easier to screw them over). They mock and belittle their opponents but cry bloody murder when the tables are turned.

It's a waste of time and energy trying to reason with a bully. They should be considered lost causes and a waste of time and energy to be around. Focus on getting rid of what they believe gives them the power to be bullies. Find that out and take it away from them. But, of course, be subtle. Then they won't see it coming.

Do you expect me to quit now? Do you imagine I'll pursue an investigation that might ultimately deny me the office I'm about to assume? Are you all nuts?!"

Or a variation of the above. And I hate Trump and every other Republican (particularly Mick Mulvaney), but his willing self-destruction was never gonna happen.

Stormy got a bit more coverage that she might otherwise have received because at the time of her interview the feds were coincidentally swooping in on Michael "The Fixer" Cohen The two being related gave Stormy's story a bit more prominence. (Plus, Michael Avenatti did everything he could to keep in the news.) But, the point is nevertheless a valid one: these things appear and then disappear -- and much to the consternation of most of us, tRump remains in office. Trump being pissed on could easily be shrugged off (if he was wearing a rain coat 🧥) What needs to happen is for Mueller to be protected, and not impeded, whilst continuing his investigation, hopefully with the end resulting in indictment. In the meantime, complacent Americans, namely the younger Democrats, need to get off their arses and straight to the polling booths. Republicans are not complacent. For the millionth time, Trump was not pissed on. The hooker story, if it is even true, is that the hookers peed on the bed that the Obama's slept in, not on Trump. This was not about sexual arousal as a lot of people seem to think; it was about degradation, Trump HATES Obama and wanted to literally have people piss where he had slept.

Frankly, the whole thing just shows how sick and vindictive Trump really is.

by Anonymousreply 328July 20, 2018 1:30 PM

This was on the cards when Reagan courted/created the Religious Right back in 1979. American Evangelicals and religious types are different - they are not critical thinkers. You go anywhere else in the world and while people have faith, they challenge the tenets of that faith critically. Yes, even Muslims. Yes, Muslims are empowered to think and consider their faith. But not the Religious Right - they buy into it wholesale and think all they have to do is “believe” it. It was always a short walk to successfully create a transference from Jesus to Trump. They “believe” in Trump the same way they do Jesus - superficially, unquestioning and unwavering.

by Anonymousreply 329July 20, 2018 1:30 PM

Also the way that she phrased, 100% even if he loses everything else he got the necessary number of votes," reads really suspicious.

by Anonymousreply 366July 20, 2018 5:55 PM

R365 His word salads are amazing. He is the KING of projection. Like, whatever he says, it is the opposite and he is guilty of it. He is sputtering badly.

by Anonymousreply 367July 20, 2018 5:55 PM

That IS interesting, R364. I'm sure of the many things Putin has on Trump is the basic fact that Russia helped get Trump elected--and since, Putin made Trump, he could un-make him. He could order his troll army to turn on Trump. He could even order Senators he has bought and paid for to support Trump's impeachment. Trump really can't breathe without Putin's permission.

by Anonymousreply 368July 20, 2018 5:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 369July 20, 2018 5:59 PM

R333 is an absolute classic DL post. It belongs in a frame on the front page.

by Anonymousreply 370July 20, 2018 6:00 PM

R369 It's probably not even her real name.

R368 You are correct. Putin has his, and the Repug party's, ASS. Will it all be exposed? I think yes.

by Anonymousreply 371July 20, 2018 6:04 PM

The phone call Trump keeps talking about is probably that one during the Russia meeting at Trump Tower where Jr. talked to someone with a blocked number. Either that, or the Cohen call about the Daniels' payoff. Or, maybe a recorded call between him and Putin. Or...

It's just endless.

by Anonymousreply 372July 20, 2018 6:11 PM

...Melania or Melanie?

by Anonymousreply 373July 20, 2018 6:18 PM

Meh, I don't know how suspicious her "100%" wording is in the link at R364. Gun girl posted the message at 11:45PM EST election night; I was already in bed then because I knew he was going over the top, even though it hadn't been officially called yet. Of course, that doesn't mean she wasn't complicit with a plot to steal the election, which she totally was.

Blech, didn't want to relive that night.

by Anonymousreply 374July 20, 2018 6:20 PM

I'm with R374 - I went to bed well before it was finally called. As dumbfounded as I was at the time, it was pretty obvious tRump was going to win the electoral college. I was ever hopeful that I would wake up in the morning and find I was wrong, but we all know the rest of the story.

by Anonymousreply 375July 20, 2018 6:23 PM

Nope R374 wrong. 1145 PM EST was definitely too early to call it with 100% accuracy AND make the case if nothing else he got the necessary numbers. Like 75000 of them.

Don't know when it was (CBS interview?) but during an episode of routine verbal diarrhoea - saying that he could be tough on Russia if he chose - he of course brought up Obama -and said that 'Obama was a patsy.'

Leaving aside that the most notorious person in public life to use that term was Lee Harvey Oswald - Trump's projection seems indeed certifiable.

A million years ago, back in February when the dotard came to SW Ohio to brag about that stupid tax cut at a local business, I held that exact same sign, r350.

And I stood outside in 20 degree temperatures to shove that sign in his face and I did. He drove 10 feet away from me - I was the only person standing on that side of the road - and I held up my "tick tock motherfucker" sign up with defiant pride.

The deplorables across the street screamed in rage but they were too afraid of the cops to do anything other than harass me verbally.

Fuck that traitorous cunt! And to hell with his idiot deplorables!

by Anonymousreply 405July 20, 2018 9:22 PM

the database of Manafort texts was released by Emma Best, who requested them from the FBI. Several years ago, the phone was hacked and a database of the messages became available in certain circles Wikileaks has/had the same information but wasn't as keen to release them to the public.

"WikiLeaks had a copy of the database, but ultimately didn’t publish it, despite its newsworthiness and their willingness to publish unredacted information on the Democrats. Their unexplained decision not to put the database into a searchable format and make it public struck me as questionable at the time, but in light of the disclosure of their preference for the GOP it has become not only questionable, but hypocritical."

Wikileaks blames Ukrainian intelligence for the hacks.

I don't see yet evidence that Emma Best is involved in a disinformation campaign in league with Wikileaks, the Daily Caller, or whatever Russia/RW media entities and organizations.

I don't know anything about Kimberly Guilfoyle except that she used to be married to Gavin Newsom and she's a Fox News right-winger. Why is she throwing her lot in with Trumps at this moment? Is she desperate? Is she a hot mess who likes to gamble? Does she know something we don't know? (E.g. about America's political future, or about Don Jr's bedroom prowess ew).

Maddow is reporting now that the Cohen tape reported today was deemed privileged by the special master, and prosecutors would not have had access to it. Trump's lawyers leaked it. by Anonymousreply 440July 21, 2018 3:28 AM

I don't know, it is peculiar, and he is thoroughly dishonest (as is Walker). But it is peculiar, what is the deal, do you think R440?

by Anonymousreply 441July 21, 2018 3:32 AM

He was so unpopular that he was recalled at least once. Plus WI has always been a hotbed of this kid of shenanigans.

by Anonymousreply 442July 21, 2018 3:54 AM

Wisconsin was incredibly honest once upon a time, going back to Bob LaFollette. It was not Illinois, where everything is a scam all the time. But since Thompson a few decades ago, that changed. But this is new. And Roger Stone's role still seems very odd. It is a mystery.

by Anonymousreply 443July 21, 2018 3:57 AM

Why Wisconsin?

that's weird. Walker is a traitor and should be in jail.

by Anonymousreply 444July 21, 2018 3:58 AM

R441, I honestly don’t know, there must be more than one puzzle piece missing. But we will find out soon enough. And I will say this — Roger Stone gets his ROCKS off playing dirty. That’s his angle, it’s what gets him stiff. He has to be doing this for a reason, and it’s always to benefit his buddies. Who does this benefit? If Walker comes down, then I suppose Ryan may too.....if Stone takes out key Rethugs, who is benefitting the most? I believe Stone played a huge roll in taking out Franken. Who the hell is he working for on this? Let’s pretend Stone is picking off key Rethugs — how would that help Trump and even Russia? Maybe the sheer distraction of it? That seems so vague though. No, he is very focused in how he operates. He’s very methodical. It ties in to everything else for sure, but I still think we are missing pieces on this. Could it tie into the NRA? And/or Maria Butina?

by Anonymousreply 445July 21, 2018 4:04 AM

But that Roger Stone article it seems to be 2 years old or am I confused -maybe both. For sure , Stone had a hand in getting Franken.

by Anonymousreply 446July 21, 2018 4:07 AM

What other shit comes from WI?

by Anonymousreply 447July 21, 2018 4:08 AM

Yes, but Roger is basically on Walker’s side.....it makes no sense. Could it be a kamikaze move because of Mueller? A signal?

by Anonymousreply 448July 21, 2018 4:10 AM

Walker = Koch so there is that.

by Anonymousreply 449July 21, 2018 4:19 AM

by Anonymousreply 450July 21, 2018 4:20 AM

What was it really about, I wonder.

by Anonymousreply 463July 21, 2018 1:41 PM

They’re scared. Every now and then - memorably, gearing up to and just before the 2016 election, and gearing up to the inauguration - I get Trump spam unsolicited from one of their stolen Wikileaks email lists literally lifted from the DNC (also received unsolicited emails from the Sanders campaign after the breach, but that I am sure will come to light as well). I’m just assuming at this point that the timing of these missives is orchestrated directly from the Kremlin. I always flag them as spam, but they must be reconfiguring the White House email somehow.

Anyway, I got another one from “the White House” yesterday, full of pro-Trump spam propaganda.

Trussia is scared, otherwise they wouldn’t be going on this proactive blitz.

Something big is coming.
What now? It is not too soon for men and women of good character to demand Trump resign — not because he will do so, but because public servants must now focus on Trump’s danger to the country and how we can limit and eliminate it. For Congress, it is essential to shore up the country’s defenses against Trump — asserting its prerogatives to declare war (and against Trump’s unilateral war-making), protecting the special counsel and deputy attorney general and, yes, refraining from confirming any new judges or executive officers until the cloud over the presidency is removed. Finally, it is more essential than ever that the GOP lose heavily in November’s midterms. [bold]Only with a complete repudiation of Trump and Republican rule can necessary corrective action begin in earnest. [/bold]

Putin is not happy that Mueller is uncovering the detailed sources and methods of Russia’s election interference program. If fully disclosed to our allies they could uncover its vulnerabilities and possibly thwart Putin’s efforts in the future.

Near the end of the 2 hour Helsinki Summit, I suspect Putin called for a 15 minute (bio) break. While the translators were out of the room he told Trump that Mueller was on the verge of uncovering the Kompromat. And that he, Putin was going to be forced to release it sooner unless Trump stopped Mueller and accelerated the remaining elements “Their Plan.”

Since Trump can barely accelerate a golf cart this made him very, very nervous.

That, and the fact that Putin delivered the threat in perfect English.

I stated my theory on the Kompromat earlier, either on this or another thread. I was annoyed with all the brilliant political talking heads on cable news trying to figure out what the Kompromat was, when to me it seemed so obvious!

I started my post with "Duh". (for anyone who may have seen and remembers it).

The Kompromat is hiding in plain sight. It's the election. Putin gave Trump POTUS, Trump knows it. He made Trump President, and he can un-make Trump president. Why had no one mentioned that? Well, someone finally did! Article posted.

by Anonymousreply 495July 21, 2018 5:54 PM

The Mueller investigation has in place a SEPARATE CONFIDENTIAL JUDGE who reads the Cohen documents and decides what are and what are not documents protected under attorney/client privilege. The judge recently removed close to 1700 MORE documents and placed them in the general, unprotected pile. It is amazing how FEW documents are protected from the MILLIONS of documents confiscated.

You (and GQ) May well be right R494. We know Trump defensively projects like crazy. The continual comments about the Greatest Presodential Landslide and The Biggest Upset Ever lend credence to your idea.

My only counter thought is that for Putin to convincingly compromise Trump with that Kompromate, he has to reveal the very techniques he wants to keep hidden. It sort of blows his future options. But you may be right.

Trump is insecure. He wants to be accepted as the biggest or best. That’s why I also wonder if the Kompromate might night be that he’s not a multi-billionaire at all. He only plays one on TV. In fact, if Putin were to pull out his cash or call in his debts, Trump might be flat broke: no plane, no Mar Lago, no golf courses, no Towers, no university, no steaks, no shirts. He might have amounted, at age 71, to what he’s feared he’d always be - a broke fraud.

My one other - tho’ far less likely - thought has to do with sexual adequacy. It “really” bothered him that Spy Magazine kept harping on his “short fingers.” His strongest projected insults are “weak” and “little.”

I’m wondering if there is something Stormy Daniels (with whom he’s almost indirectly and begrudgingly admitted an affair) knows about him that she’s still sitting on. For whatever reason, Trump is scared to attack her.

Addressing the "giving the presidency to HRC" discussion earlier....

Believe me, I'm 1000% in support of tossing every single Republican who got into bed with the Russians into jail for treason. However. There simply is no mechanism for nullifying an American presidential election, for very simple reasons - we've never been in this territory before.

Having said that, I'm a fan of the idea tossed around on Twitter that goes something like this:

Dems retake the House and Senate in November.

Nancy Pelosi becomes speaker of the House.

Trump and Pence are impeached. Pelosi becomes President.

Pelosi names HRC as her Vice President, and steps down.

Odds of that happening of course are close to absolute zero, but a boy can dream.

by Anonymousreply 521July 21, 2018 11:02 PM

Nope, I don't, R516.

by Anonymousreply 522July 21, 2018 11:04 PM

Or as others have said, Hillary could become Speaker, they are removed, and she becomes President.

Having said that, I do not think she would accept it. She is a true patriot and would, for the healing of the country, not accept being President.

by Anonymousreply 523July 21, 2018 11:05 PM

by Anonymousreply 524July 21, 2018 11:05 PM

R521 that's already been discussed and as already said, it would be more realistic to put HRC in as Speaker of the House than it would be to have Pelosi become President and "name" HRC as VP and then step down.

Pelosi cannot "name" HRC as VP.

by Anonymousreply 525July 21, 2018 11:06 PM

I'm wondering the same thing too, R520. On the one hand, Putin could destroy Trump just for the fun of doing so (who wouldn't?), but he seems like the type to want a definite prize at the end. Overwhelming doubt in democracy, but that won't necessarily benefit him in the end.

My Hillary scenario -- Trump out, Pence is doomed to Gerald Ford-dom, Hillary runs in 2020 and wins.

by Anonymousreply 535July 21, 2018 11:35 PM

Pelosi cannot mane HRC as Speaker. HRC would have to first win a Congressional race and then be elected by her peers to Speaker

Actually, it is true, R545. And I'm also starting to believe that it's true that you actually are a troll.

by Anonymousreply 546July 21, 2018 11:52 PM

The FISA material shows that Devin Nunes lied (surprise!) when he said the FBI only relied on the Dossier. They did not, because Carter Page had already been caught up in Russian spying. The other reasons they suspected him are blacked out. He also lied when he said the FBI didn't tell the FISA court who source 1 (Christopher Steele) was and who he was working for. The FBI even says in every application source 1 was hired by people trying to find dirt on Trump. They just also mentioned he'd been a reliable source in the past and they thought who he was working for didn't discredit his information.

Cons will also make a big deal out of the FBI got warrants but they are all the same, no new info, no arrest.

To get the warrants renewed, they have to show they are producing fruit. All the black lines in the subsequent applications are the real good stuff.

The applications also state Carter Page is a foreign agent working with Russia to disrupt the election, and they believe he's working with others in the Trump campaign. Those names are sadly blacked out.

Not much new info because most is blacked out, but it at least outs Nunes as the big, fat Russia-loving liar he is.

I guess we are going to have to keep reposting this until HRC is the Speaker of the House in 2019 and then made President (an office to which she was legitimately elected) when Cheatolini and the Creeper are removed for treason.

This afternoon we drove down a main street and saw two people staffing a covered table marked with 'Save Trump' 'Jail Mueller' and 'Wage peace with Russia to stop nuclear war' signs. We made poor guesses profiling the likely suspects at the table: a tall white guy 38-44 yo and a short woman age 64-72. I couldn't see the impetus from a US standpoint to 'jail' Mueller, a Republican FBI director with experience with Mob investigations, who is following only the rule of law, so we concluded there must be Russian agents scattered about the country, petitioning support for oligarchy and fascism under the pathetic and transparent guise of "world peace."

Did anyone else in the US see this kind of display today?

Not everybody who is pro-Trump is a Russian agent. There are actual right wing deplorables in this country who truly believe that Trump was sent by God to save this nation for the White Christians and nobody else.

Calling them all "Boris" and assuming they are all from Russia sounds really paranoid and reminds me of the red scare of the 1950's.

by Anonymousreply 573July 22, 2018 12:49 AM
It's certainly more plausible than Pelosi becoming President and "naming" HRC VP (which she cannot do) and stepping down.

Actually, R563, under Section 2 of the 25th Amendment, she could do precisely that -- with the advice and consent of the House and Senate:
Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

But, while Peolsi could do it that way if she were President (it is how Nelson Rockefeller became VP under Gerald Ford), it is, in this instance, an unnecessarily cumbersome process, when the easier one is to have a Democratic majority in the House elect HRC as Speaker, who would then assume the presidency when the president and vice-president were removed for treason.

Unprecedented? Of course -- but then again, we've never had traitors steal the White House for the benefit of themselves and a foreign adversary. So, I don't give a rat's ass that "it's never been done before." It's unorthodox but legal. That's all that matters. At least Hillary had been elected President of the United States by a majority of her fellow citizens who came out to vote and was denied -- by treason, fraud, and chicanery -- from assuming that office.

by Anonymousreply 574July 22, 2018 12:50 AM
Actually, [R563], under Section 2 of the 25th Amendment, she could do precisely that -- with the advice and consent of the House and Senate:

Nope, you missed the point. And again, this was already talked about in the previous thread. Pelosi cannot just name a VP. As was already stated it would have to be confirmed by both the HOUSE and the SENATE which is why I said repeatedly that the easier route would be for them to just vote HRC Speaker of the House if they were going to try to put her in as President.

But again, they aren't going to do any of that. BUT IF THEY DID, it makes more sense to just select her as Speaker of the House rather than go the more difficult, convoluted route.

by Anonymousreply 575July 22, 2018 12:53 AM

People are so fucked up about deserving and "fairness" that I think the only way they'd accept a Hillary presidency -- even though she already won an election -- is to make her go through another election.

We should just start calling them out for having Clinton Derangement Syndrome.

by Anonymousreply 577July 22, 2018 12:55 AM

Exactly. There's no way both the House and the Senate would agree to have HRC as VP (not that Pelosi would make that an option) so no, Pelosi can't just choose HRC like people have been suggesting.
People are so fucked up about deserving and "fairness" that I think the only way they'd accept a Hillary presidency -- even though she already won an election -- is to make her go through another election.

One thing I heard over and over was that the popular vote didn't count because people in NY and CA shouldn't be able to choose who the President is over whom the Deplorables wanted. I'd constantly point out that that made no sense because the argument was that people living in Liberal states shouldn't have a vote that meant more than theirs.... yet they wanted their votes to mean more than the majority of the country.

They really are deranged and mentally damaged.

R582 that isnt accurate. People have been saying on here that Pelosi can just name Hillary VP and then step down and give it to her. They think the process works just like the General Election. That's what the clarification is about Pelosi not being able to just name Hillary as VP is coming from.

First of all, the Democrats have to win the House back before any of this is possible, and although I want it to happen, I don't think that's a given yet. Second of all, once they have won the House back, the Democrats have to hold a vote whether they even want Pelosi back as Speaker to begin with, and that's not a given either.

But if Pelosi does manage to get her Speakership back, Trump and Pence both have to be taken out of office somehow. Ok, not sure how Pence would be removed but let's assume it does happen. Pelosi then ascends to the presidency and appoints Hillary as speaker of the House. She is then supposed to immediately step down so HIllary can ascend to the presidency and take her rightful place in office.

Ummm....you guys realize outside of a Hollywood fantasy movie, none of this is going to happen, right?

R584, I assume people are figuring that there would be a preset plan in place with all of Congress to do the only thing that would right the wrong done to our democracy. She wouldn't just name Hillary as the VP candidate and then hope for the best. It would all be planned out and signed on to by the whole of Congress.

Facebook, Twitter, WaPo and NYTimes get the top-level trolls. But here at DL, we get the entry-level trolls in the work-study program at Moscow Community College.

by Anonymousreply 588July 22, 2018 1:18 AM

Yes, R587 that's what we've been trying to point out however the low level Troll didn't seem to get it. Doesn't matter he's apparently been gone for the past 30 posts.

Also has anyone seen this Meme? I find it hysterical because I saw someone post it in a different group and immediately a Drumpf supporter came on to say, "I can easy. I can give you a hundred reasons right now off the top of my head."

One of the members said, "Go ahead then."

And the Deplorable said, "I don't see how you expect me to do that when they've literally been in power for 40 years and everything is all their fault."

If Democrats take back the House watch for Bernie to start a campaign against Pelosi becoming Speaker saying we need someone non-Establishment.

Unless Trump decides to pardon him....which would be highly suspicious and terrible optics.

The Speaker is selected by the ruling party. If that is the Democrats, they can pick whoever they want.

There was some talk at the beginning of Trump Presidency that Newt Gingrich would be elected speaker and he is not currently in the House. No one said he wasn’t qualified. He is an unlikable asshole though.
