We survived GWB, we can survive Pence. Pence at least has some understanding of how things are supposed to work, and which lines cannot be crossed. Trump is something else altogether.

R4 "President" Pence would not have any credibility left if Trump were impeached or resigned due to the Russian scandal. The only way for Pence to ascend to power somewhat successfully is for Trump to croak before the Putin meeting. Now it's all too late. Even if Trump dies, Pence will just inherit the entire treason baggage. The focus of the investigation will shift to him especially since he has plenty of Russian connections himself.

Sure, R4, sure. Keep trying.

The NYT article exposes that Trump wasn't only briefed on Russian interference, it was a highly detailed briefing. It would have included the name of assets. One of those assets was so secret Brennan carried his name around in a separate fucking envelope. A few weeks later the Guardian reported Russians were starting to get arrested for working with the CIA and then Russian officials started shooting themselves five times in the back of the head all over the place.
Trump has been actively engaged in a coverup, this article finally gives details which he can't worm out of, and he gets assets killed.
Any Republican still supporting him tomorrow should go in the prison cell right next to him.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 19, 2018 5:57 AM |
Trump should have canceled the Treason Summit when those 12 Russians were indicted. Any real American President would have done that... conservative or liberal. He proved to everyone he's a sham.

I remember Rachel Maddow telling the tale of the Ruskie guy who got whisked out of a high level meeting by some goons, with a bag over his head. So this is about him, "According to earlier reports in the Russian media, Mikhailov was arrested some time ago, in theatrical fashion, during a plenary session of the top FSB leadership: a bag was placed over his head and he was marched out of the room, accused of treason."
At the time, the speculation was he may have been the high placed source for the Trump Dossier.
Who knows if it's him but I can easily see rump getting a top CIA asset in Russia killed to save his skin, the TREASONOUS BITCH that he is

The 2016 Presidential election should be annulled and a Special election held to replace Trump/Pence. The f**king GOP is angling for the Supreme Court. Screw all other talk! We need to focus on the fuckery that’s going down with Kennedy and his obvious kompromat with Deutsh bank. Citizens United should be struck down because of this. The GOP is only concerned about WhO replaces Kennedy. Why the hell is the media not shedding light on this other point of treason!

Yes GOP.

by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 19, 2018 6:46 AM |
The only, ONLY remedy is to vote these fuckers out of Congress!
It's getting more vital to take over the Senate to block Trump from appointing more extremist judges. I said it in the last thread -- it's more likely than some other of the GOP SCOTUSes will stoop to pressure to retire so that Trump can appoint a much younger replacement who will fuck us over and over for decades. And god forbid something happens to any of the Dem justices while we can't do anything about it.
Go out and prod people to vote this midterms.

All his energies are going into covering up his his total ownedness and projecting his old fake mastery, and it's getting harder and harder.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 19, 2018 7:35 AM |
Everything the Republican Party did this last two years need to be reversed immediately. It cannot be that the treasonous laws and appointments (of judges) of these Russian assets can be kept in place. They were clearly set up to destroy the US. It cannot be that a corrupt, and illegitimate, system can harm the US for decades without proper punishment.

I believe both Putin and Trump took advantage of what the GOP already created. I have no doubt that the GOP has done voter fraud on a grand scale in the past (GWB, jr.'s first election, Rove's freak out at Obama re-election night). Putin infiltrated the GOP with the help of Russian oligarchs throwing money at these greedy bastards, he bought the ones he could and blackmailed others (with hookers and other sordid or criminal stuff). Trump took advantage of the GOP's divisive "Divide & Conquer" strategies and forming his own Deplorable base believing his bullshit like "Drain the Swamp", because it came from the guy who once promised to find Obama's long form birth certificate.
The GOP is compromised on so many levels. Corruption and the whole vote hacking putting attention to past elections that favored the GOP.

House GOP refuses to renew election security funding as Democrats fume over Russian interference.
House Republicans plan to vote Thursday on a spending bill that excludes new money for election security grants to states, provoking a furious reaction from Democrats amid a national controversy over Russian election interference.
Republicans argued strenuously in floor debate Wednesday that states had plenty of money from prior congressional allocations to spend on election improvements. But Democrats accused the Republicans of abetting President Trump in his refusal to take a hard line against Russian President Vladimir Putin at this week’s summit in Helsinki.

On Jan. 5, 2017, Trump asks in a tweet why the FBI didn't examine the DNC server, alluding to a conspiracy theory that Russia didn't do it. The next day, he gets a classified briefing that they did do it.

Clint Watts made a great point on MSNBC last night:
Look at Trump's firing of Comey knowing what we learned last night — through the lens that he had been briefed in detail, and shown proof, about Russian meddling in January.
In May, he was still telling Lester Holt he fired Comey because "this thing with Trump and Russia" was a "made-up thing."

This. The pro-Russia factions in the United States can be explained by studying the overlaps between the US nativist evangelicals, the anti-tech 'primito-anarchist' anti-civilisationists (e.g. John Zerzan) who take their ideas from Thoreau, the Unabomber, and Catholic theologian Jacques Ellul, neo-pagan neo-Nazi groups, and the followers of Alexandr Dugin - the Russian philosopher who is taught in Russian political and military academies, and who advocates 'immanent eschatotlogy' - the end of the world. Dugin is not well liked by US evangelical Christians (see link) but is very popular with Bannon and the alt-right pseudo-intellectuals. Dugin despises Western liberalism ('cultural Marxism') and in particular, any understanding of gender as anything other than binary biological sex identities.

There are mechanisms completely within the law to accomplish this. And they all start with Congress getting rid of Trump and Pence -- which is a very good place to start.
She won the election, and the presidency was stolen from her by a cabal of traitors who worked with an enemy of the United States to advance their own interests.

He just posted a clip from Fox News showing all the times he talked about Russian meddling. The sad thing is, even in a clip put together by his sycophants, in almost every statement shown in the clip he is trying to mitigate Russian's involvement almost always saying it could also be others. Even in the Fox News defense, he comes off very tepid in his calling out of Russia.

No one is ranting, and I can only guess that the reason you do not support the democratic outcome of a legally elected winner is that you want a do-over in which cosplay socialist Bernie “Lakehouse & Lobster Sliders” Sanders gets to win.
That is not supporting democracy. Nor is insisting on the “next vote in 2018” either. You should be fucking outraged that a coup has occurred, not plotting how to get your regressive-left objet du jour in office. A positive I see in all this is that if Hillary was elected the vast conspiracy between Republicans, the NRA, and Russia would have grown even larger and more insidious in their attempts to discredit and impeach her. Hearing after hearing, overseen by Goudy etc, would be neverending. They would have had four or eight more years to expand their evil. With the incompetent, dishonest, stupid trump in office the charade has been exposed iand we should be able to excise the cancer before it spread further. Now, hopefully, midterm elections are coming the repubs are broken and disgraced. Their name is Mudd and the name Trump will soon come to mean filthy treason.

EVERYONE needs to be calling the fringe GOP senators....Flake, Collins, Murkowski, McCain, etc........and ask them why, if they are so appalled about what Trump is doing , they arent crossing the aisle to work with Democrats to oust McConnell and properly investigate the issues. All it takes is TWO (2) Senators to caucus with the Dems and McConnell loses control and things can get on a proper track. We need to demand they put their money where their mouths are and to put country over party. THEY WONT.......WHY ?

Former CIA officer and once-frequent cable TV guest Michael Scheuer telling Trump supporters that they must stand ready to kill Trump opponents:
As this week’s end, it seems likely that it is quite near time for killing those involved in the multiple and clearly delineated attempts to stage a coup d’état against the legitimately elected Trump government and thereby kill our republic.
No self-respecting and determined-to-remain-independent citizenry can let themselves forever be held hostage by thug-civil-servants like Strzok, Comey, McCabe, Page, and Rosenstein; worshipers of tyranny, like the Democratic members of Congress, the Clintons, the FBI, and the Obamas; apparent traitors like Brennan, Hayden, and Clapper; all of the mainstream media; and the tens of thousands of government-admitted-and-protected, violent, criminal, and illegal immigrants.
American patriots have so far, praise God, been remarkably disciplined in not responding to tyranny and violence with violence. For now they must remain so, armed but steady. But the time for such patience is fast slipping away; indeed, that patience is quickly becoming an obviously rank and self-destructive foolishness. If Trump does not act soon to erase the above noted tyranny and tyrants, the armed citizenry must step in and eliminate them.

Ok I’m going to link to and then quote from a Politico article written 4 days before the 2016 election.

[bold] Pro-Trump former FBI official says he's channeling agents' rage [/bold]
A former top FBI official who has claimed insight into the bureau’s rank and file's outrage over the handling of an investigation into Hillary Clinton confirmed Thursday that he has been in touch with active agents after denying it in an interview published earlier in the day.
Jim Kallstrom, who headed the FBI’s New York field office in the 1990s, has spent months citing anonymous sources within the bureau to warn that many there were upset by Director James Comey’s decision to recommend against charges for Clinton related to her use of a personal email server during her tenure as secretary of state. [bold] Kallstrom, who has endorsed Donald Trump for president, has suggested in past interviews that he has spoken with active FBI agents, including some working on the Clinton investigation, which if true, would mean the agents broke bureau protocol to discuss a case [/bold]
by Anonymous | reply 126 | July 19, 2018 5:07 PM |
“I know some of the agents,” Kallstrom said in a past interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who had asked him about the FBI’s investigation into Clinton. “I know some of the supervisors and I know the senior staff. And they’re P.O.’d, I mean, no question. This is like someone driving another nail in the coffin of the criminal justice system.”
But according to a Daily Beast article published Thursday, Kallstrom first denied speaking at all to any active FBI agents and said his assessment of the mood of the bureau’s rank and file was based exclusively on conversations with retired agents. But later in that same interview, he said that he did interact with active agents who had reached out to him.
Kallstrom stuck with that story Thursday night on Fox News’s “The Kelly File,” where he disputed the Daily Beast’s assessment that he had claimed to have spoken with active FBI agents investigating Clinton.
11/04/16
“Well, they can write what they want. I never did claim I talked to the actual agents. I would never do that. I would never call up people that were investigating something and even put them on the spot. I wouldn't do that,” Kallstrom said. “But I've talked to hundreds and hundreds of people in the FBI -- mostly retired people and some people that are currently on the job that are not directly involved, but, you know, it's a small organization. You know, they know what's going on.”

Without being able to say exactly who those people are it sounds very conspiracy-esque, which can get very murky.

“And the agents are furious. And I haven't walked anything back,” he continued. “I didn't walk anything up that deserved to be walked back. So I don't know what they're talking about.”
[bold] Kallstrom, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, is the founder of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which was the beneficiary of the fundraiser Trump held last January instead of attending a GOP primary debate in Iowa. According to the Daily Beast, Kallstrom’s foundation has received at least three major gifts from the Manhattan billionaire, two of which came during the campaign, totaling over $1.3 million. [/bold]
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who Kallstrom told the Daily Beast is "a very good friend" of his, has similarly claimed to have a pipeline of information coming from the FBI's rank and file, offering a similar assessment of its mood to the one Kallstrom has. [bold] A week ago, Giuliani teased "a couple of surprises" from the Trump campaign just days before Comey announced that the FBI is examining additional, potentially new evidence related to Clinton's email scandal. He declined to elaborate at the time what those surprises would be, but said they would be "enormously effective." [/bold]

He's the one who was instrumental in withholding intel from the FBI, and training his sub-ordinates to withhold info, including the fact the CIA knew two members of Al-Quaeda were in the US. They were two of the hijackers. If the FBI had known, they would have put surveillance on them and could have possibly stopped 9/11. He then had the nerve to write that FBI agent John O'Neill and Richard Clarke were the "authors" of 9/11.

"It is a proposal that was made in sincerity by President Putin, but President Trump disagrees with it," press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. "Hopefully President Putin will have the 12 identified Russians come to the United States to prove their innocence or guilt."
Republican Tom Nichols responds: “A proposal made in sincerity by Putin.” JFC, they can’t even walk it back without blowing a kiss to Putin. It wasn’t made “in sincerity,” it was a trap, set out there with malice, and Trump stepped right into it.

Today Dump trashed the Fed, signed an EO that establishes a "workforce council" to address employment for the blue-collar "vocational crisis" and said he wants a second date with Putin. Gotta get back those headlines and convince the base that down is up.
Is the vocational crisis a sub-bullet of Infrastructure Week?
During the campaign Hillary laid out a point-by-point roadmap for blue-collar re-education and workplace replenishment for jobs of the future, incorporating digital and infrastructure. Seventeen months in and Dumpbucket has to issue an EO just to look at the issue? Remember this when people say there's no difference between parties.
Dems should hire 500 psychologists to go out and give field training to party members. Teach them how to recognize and discuss sociopathic behavior, grooming and recovery. Dems need to roll out their greatest hits, showing their historical contributions to the middle class and workers. Stable isn't sexy. Middle of the road isn't sexy. Policy isn't sexy. But a strong, vibrant and enviable middle class is the backbone of everything right about this country, and is a stronger statement than any propaganda.
This week's one-two punch landed quickly after the child separations and the empathetic have noticed. GOP Men and women have criticized Dump and I know the word treason' is coming across their feeds because it is on mine.
A poster in an earlier thread hit on why the stakes are so high right now: If Mueller and multiple countries' IC expose the heart of these Russian efforts, then this whole fascist/brexit movement gets taken down and the gravy train stops for those involved. Mueller’s list of evidence against Manafort. You can read it on scribd. Item 188 is intentionally left blank. What is it and why is it blank?

I believe it was Maggie Wheeler I was just listening to just said her theory is that in their meeting Put Put told Baby Diaper that he knows for a fact that Mueller has the goods on him and the only way out of it is to let him "help" him by ensuring that the Legislature stay Red.

LOL. Coates was on stage with Dana Bash in Aspen, and she broke the news to him. Trump might as well go on and fire every last person in the WH. He doesn't need them.

Dictator. And no one is checking him.

The media needs to just play his game. Anything he says from now on, they need to ask "So, are you sure you? Let me read back what you said to make sure you meant every word. I just don't want you to misspeak and have to clarify tomorrow." EVERY FUCKING DAY FROM NOW ON.

Susan Glasser in the NEW YORKER (on line) today describes how Trump has single-handedly broken American foreign policy in Helsinki. Not one other person is "in the loop." Not even Bolton. Certainly not Pompeo, not Coats or anyone else.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | July 19, 2018 9:32 PM |
Better, the media should just ignore Trump's tweets and statements from the White House, treating it as a frivolous commentary, and fixate on statements from people like Coats and Mueller.

Transcript from the third debate Clinton - Trump
Trump: Putin from everything I see has no respect for this person.
Clinton: Well, that's because he would rather have a puppet as president of the United States. Trump: No puppet. You're the puppet. Clinton: It is pretty clear you won't admit that the Russians have engaged in cyber attacks against the United States of America. That you encouraged espionage against our people. That you are willing to spout the Putin line, sign up for his wish list, break up NATO, do whatever he wants to do. And that you continue to get help from him because he has a very clear favorite in this race. So I think that this is such an unprecedented situation. We've never had a foreign government trying to interfere in our election. We have 17, 17 intelligence agencies, civilian and military who have all concluded that these espionage attacks, these cyber attacks, come from the highest levels of the Kremlin. And they are designed to influence our election. I find that deeply disturbing.
Wallace: Secretary Clinton
Clinton: And I think it is time
Trump: She has no idea whether it is Russia, China or anybody else.
Clinton: I am not quoting myself.
Trump: You have no idea.
Clinton: I am quoting 17, 17 -- do you doubt?
Trump: Our country has no idea.
Clinton: Our military and civilian
Trump: Yeah, I doubt it, I doubt it.
Clinton: He would rather believe Vladimir Putin than the military and civilian intelligence professionals who are sworn to protect us. I find that just absolutely disturbing.

"Make America America Again" sounds better than "for the People" adapted by House Democrats for the 2018 mid-terms. These Democrats sound like it's 1952 and they are running Adli Stevenson against Ike.

So today some soybean farmer was interviewed (on MSNBC, I think). Trump voter. Hurting severely now because of the new and insane tariffs, this one on China.
Jerk is still hoping that Trump's "long-range plan" won't destroy him and his cohorts in the here and now. That it will all work out.
Suffer, pal. You helped destroy democracy along with your own livelihood.

We need to stop interviewing these people. They are beyond help. *We tried to warn you*
by Anonymous | reply 211 | July 19, 2018 11:55 PM |
a poll came out today and almost 45% of those polled thought Trumps meeting with Putin was a good idea. I think its a combination of not really following daily events and or only getting your news from fox or like minded on line sites. So this universal condemnation is realy only for people that keep abreast of current events and are have way intelligent. This eliminates a good chunk of the voting population. Frankly I dont see Trump having any negative consequences with his current behavior......EXCEPT the leak yesterday about Trump being fully briefed about the Russian attack on our election with irrefutable proof..... occurred prior to him even being sworn in.........my hunch is the intelligence community leaked this and has had enuf of Trump and will maybe do everything in its power to get him out of office. Its going to take unearthing even worse stuff for action to be taken. I am not optimistic........I think there might be a title wave in Nov swinging the house and senate to the dems, but you never know what tricks the Russians have to avert that..........if we go dem, I see a slight chance of A Trump impeachment, other than that I see Trump running in 2020 and depending on who the dems run, Trump might be with us a long time.............
by Anonymous | reply 212 | July 20, 2018 12:00 AM |
So, how much money is Russia going to pour into the Mid-terms? It is going to be an ugly ass Fall.
by Anonymous | reply 213 | July 20, 2018 12:03 AM |
I think R209's soybean farmer is on a cry me a river tour on MSM. ar As for Dems, slogan or no slogan, what should be the tenet of all Dem candidates is the threat of a Rethug Congress taking away aka privatizing and cutting Medicare, SS, etc. The Rethugs already are saying the economy is doing so well and poverty is eliminated, so there's no more need for food stamps.
That should be the general rallying cry bc it directly concerns the midterms. The wherever appropriate they can pile on other concerns like judges, corruption and of Treasonous Cheeto.
by Anonymous | reply 214 | July 20, 2018 12:04 AM |
Overheard this group at a big table this morning talking politics. They are older white m & f evangelicals, not college educated from their speaking. All look to be on Social Security, receiving Medicare, and maybe a pension for some of them. They don't see a problem with Russia, claiming Russia has become America's best friend due to Trump. One woman claimed "the Lord sent Trump to us" and she's praying for him. Then one mentioned Hillary's Emails are the reason for all the problems, and Obama set up Trump with an investigation run by Democrats.
The waitress at the counter saw me rolling my eyes, and noted one of them was her husband. She laughed and says he has Fox News on constantly when he's home. She's from Miami, but he's not. I told her she had my sympathy, with a smile.
You can't argue with these fundamentalists. They have to be out-voted. And they DO vote, "religiously".

[quote] You can't argue with these fundamentalists. They have to be out-voted. And they DO vote, "religiously".
This is what I don't get. We've known since the heyday of the Moral Majority that these fundamentalists and evangelicals vote, they're values voters. In the 2000s they were okay with 'truthiness' and the 'reality-based' people were the opponents. By "we" I mean people who've lived in the US for at least 20 years and have some awareness of news and current affairs. Then some obscene, bullying, syphilitic, word-salad reality-TV dude and failed entrepreneur with two divorces and no moral scruples gets the nomination for the Republican party and close to a hundred million Americans can't be bothered to vote. "Oh no elderly religious person's vote is worth cancelling out, let them have their President." I cannot wrap my head around that kind of thinking, and I think it's because as an immigrant, I'm sensitive to the "lurn somethin' bout our country" barbs even though I know enough to be 'malevolently informed' I don't know what it's like to be a native citizen here floating on the privilege of where I was born, don't know what it is to have an 'average' American level of education. I don't know what it's like to be a citizen and think that it's okay to not vote against the obviously unqualified candidate and to not vote at all.

by Anonymous | reply 218 | July 20, 2018 12:18 AM |
Per the link at R184, there are 436 exhibits listed by the prosecution for the Manafort trial.
If I’m reading the information at the link I’ve included below correctly, the list of exhibits in the trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg total only 33.
Pauline, you in danger, gurl!
And any footage of the transcript at R197 should be run on ALL networks ad nauseum.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | July 20, 2018 12:20 AM |
Continuing from r217, if you came across an American adult citizen who consciously chose not to vote, and asked "are you okay with what's happening to migrants following legal channels for entry, their families forcibly separated, children barely old enough to talk alone and unassisted in court, are you okay with tax cuts for the 1%, death of net neutrality, white professional legal immigrants detained by ICE for youth misdemeanors committed decades ago? Do you feel good about extreme rightwing partisans choosing a Supreme Court Justice nominee? Do you feel good about your inaction shared with one of over 100 million people? Do you believe you made a constructive and positive contribution to your country's future?" What do you think his or her or eir response would be?
It makes me despair how many there are of them, that sixteen months of punditry, soundbites, 24/7 news channel noise on radio, television, websites, podcasts, RSS feeds are not enough to inform a typical American informed suitably to cast a thought-out vote for the future the country should have.

If democrats would only say they support an end of illegal immigration and beefing up border security it would be so much easier to win. They don’t have to say they support a wall, just more money for border security. People are very angry about illegal immigration and they want it to stop. They don’t care about people overstaying visas, they care about the southern border.
by Anonymous | reply 228 | July 20, 2018 12:49 AM |
R228 Where have you been? The Dems (and MANY Repugs) wanted comprehensive immigration reform for years. Who STOPS it every fucking time? The Repugs. Hmmmmmm I wonder why? It's a GREAT issue for them, that's why!
The Dems don't support illegal immigration. Do you honestly believe that?
Perception IS a problem for the Dems regarding the border but perception isn't reality.

I have found the best response to these simpletons is, “Oh, so you only give a shit when it hurts YOU?” And I keep repeating that. I’m telling you, it neutralizes them like Clorox on puppy piss. They actually have no response to that one. Just keep asking them that. Because it’s the same thing as saying, “so you’re just a big asshole, huh?” They have no response, they aren’t that quick on their feet.

R229 I totally agree. But you hit the nail on the head. The Dems have a severe messaging problem, they don’t know how to drive a story or control the media, and the Rethugs do. R228 is a FOOL and doesn’t realize the Dems are on his side!!! He (or she or it) actually BELIEVES the Dems want no controls on Immigration. You can’t talk to stupid. But that poster is very symbolic of the whole problem. These people aren’t self-aware or intelligent enough to see that they’ve been hoodwinked.

I am afraid that most Americans are so addicted to the Trump spectacle shit show, to the sick entertainment of it all, that they forget that democracy isn't just up to the government but alsoultimately up to the people; it's the responsibility of the people to keep democracy intact.
I can't imagine such a lethargy would have happened in the 70s or 80s. There would be protests everywhere, but with today's youth culture only interested in bling bling and other superficial things, there seems to be no active opposition.

Am I the only one who notices that, in real life, Deplorables seem less enthusiastic about Trump these days? That Deplorable trash I work with no longer wants to talk about politics anymore. I believe the Republican base isn't going to vote in the midterms, because they are put off by how the conservatives let Trump get away with everything and it fucks up their own lives. The whole "ok, I may suffer but the ones I hate suffer much, much more. WINNING!" doesn't work anymore. There is this sense of shame and embarrassment that prevents them to admit they've been had, but I don't think they will support Trump with votes and his pundits with money anymore.

A trifling shame. My Deplorable aunt decided without notice to renege on her intent to visit me last month. I live in a very blue state, in its largest city, so I can't find many Deplorables with whom to discuss the ICE detention of white Michigan physician Lukasz Niec, who legally immigrated to the US with his family at the age of 8, and ask how ICE determined his colour, residence, education, occupation made him a likely member of MS-13, the group Deplorables believe is the only demographic ICE is arresting and placing in detention camps. I'd love to see the contortions and backflips minds of white racist Deplorables make to not accept that they look like someone ICE would toss into a camp.
My Deplorable aunt immigrated from the same country I did, at roughly the same age, to the US.

R255 Deplorables are absolutely less enthusiastic and you're right, will never admit it. However, I have noticed from those around me ( I live in Deplorableland TX) that they, too, have avoided talking politics altogether.
Here's what I have noticed- many are being hurt by his policies and many do not like this Russian shit. They are willing to vote Dem for local shit I think. At least one of the Deplorables I know said they still supported Prez Bone Spurs (they wanted me to be aware of that) but they wanted a check on him so they would pick a few Dems to vote for, maybe.

R259, can you elaborate? Just his interview with Andrea makes me think he’ll gave a target, and he wasn’t even disrespecting Trump!!! But the fact that he spoke in, well, FACTS, is clearly more than the WH can bear.
I don’t believe that Deplorables say, “It’s different” and if they do and you can’t handle that, you don’t deserve to call yourself an American, pussy up stream. Ridiculous!

I work with some highly conservative Christian people (well, fiscally conservative but moderately liberal on social justice issues, they are not blind followers but, they are still church people....) and I do think you’re taking their temperature right r263. So! The fuckers have a glean that maybe everything that comes with having him in the WH isn’t turning out exactly as they hoped? They didn’t plan on being so very very very H.A.T.E.D. They have lost the last crumbs of respectability that came with being traditional and old-fashioned — there is literally no respect left anymore for them or their culture (because of course, they don’t deserve it!!!). They really aren’t used to being truly despised, but now they are. And they do NOT like the feeling.
But in our personal lives, if you’re around some of them, how can we leverage that? It is in fact, one of their few weaknesses. It was ok to have culture wars when it felt like a 50/50 war. Now it’s like 30/70, they don’t like feeling like a hated minority. I’d love to throw even more of it back in their faces. Like to the men, “You know Dave, real men can admit Trump was a mistake. I really think you have it in you to own it.” Or something lololol. Or to the women, “You know I don’t agree with many Republican positions, but I’ve been impressed watching Christian women hold their men to account and letting their husbands know that enough is enough! And wrong is wrong! How’d it go when you checked your husband?”
Just some form of gaslighting, a carrot if you will, to lead them over the finish line. If anything, it will entertain me to try.

Despite what the Russian trolls are saying in comments and some die hards, there is a decent chunk of them who shit their pants at his performance during the summit. One lady said: "Well I don't like a lot of what he is doing but we had to put up with 8 years of Obama!" Yes, putting up with Obama was equated to this shitshow. They are scared. Easily scared. And they call us snowflakes? They wanted to win again at any costs. Now, they're not so sure this is winning. They will not admit it now. Or maybe ever. They will say they still support him while secretly feeling he is a disaster.

Announce them as a Trump voter/supporter -- with all disdain possible -- even when you're saying hello at the grocery, or introducing them to children. Hit them where it counts, their fading sense of entitlement or uniqueness, and make it apparent that's just not so. Remember, this was a guy so desperate for acceptance he tried to get them thinking they're "the super-elite."

McConnell pulled the judicial nomination of racist, sexist, homophobic Ryan Bounds. Both Oregon senators opposed the nomination. This was the first time since 1956 that a nomination has gone forward over the opposition of both senators. Tim Scott, the black Republican senator from South Carolina, signaled his opposition to the nomination. Turtle McConnell pulled the nomination to avoid an embarrassing loss on the confirmation vote.
The problem is that Trump has no problem nominating scum like Bounds and McConnell has no problem supporting the nomination.

Bullies like Deplorables and GOP pundis (and yes, I include SJW plants) don't engage in an actual discussion. They present their talking points and demand of you to not just accept them, but to let go of your own opinion and join their cause. And if you don't obey you are their sworn enemy.
They demand to be met with respect and civility, but refuse to treat others with respect and in a civilized manner. They cheat but demand that their enemies play by the rules (so that it makes it easier to screw them over). They mock and belittle their opponents but cry bloody murder when the tables are turned.
It's a waste of time and energy trying to reason with a bully. They should be considered lost causes and a waste of time and energy to be around. Focus on getting rid of what they believe gives them the power to be bullies. Find that out and take it away from them. But, of course, be subtle. Then they won't see it coming.

(Plus, Michael Avenatti did everything he could to keep in the news.) But, the point is nevertheless a valid one: these things appear and then disappear -- and much to the consternation of most of us, tRump remains in office. This was on the cards when Reagan courted/created the Religious Right back in 1979. American Evangelicals and religious types are different - they are not critical thinkers. You go anywhere else in the world and while people have faith, they challenge the tenets of that faith critically. Yes, even Muslims. Yes, Muslims are empowered to think and consider their faith. But not the Religious Right - they buy into it wholesale and think all they have to do is “believe” it. It was always a short walk to successfully create a transference from Jesus to Trump. They “believe” in Trump the same way they do Jesus - superficially, unquestioning and unwavering.

I mean, the moment it was even hinted that Trump and Putin would talk alone would be a clear signal to them that Trump is handing over top secret info that could damage and destroy secret operations currently handled by the FBI and the CIA. That alone should have motivated them to take drastic actions and yet ... nothing. Why are they holding back? Are they told to stay put? By who?

R360 - I’m not au fait with the powers they are able to exercise over the President. Could they have intervened in Trump’s meeting with Putin?
by Anonymous | reply 361 | July 20, 2018 5:38 PM |
R360 I don't know but nothing makes sense. Someone suggested the IC might bug Pres Tre45on but others have said they wouldn't go that far as it would set a bad precedent. FUCK PRECEDENT! They need to stop him now.
I think it could be they know the Repug party is compromised as well. They are waiting to get them all so as to not let this happen again. It is a dangerous game.
by Anonymous | reply 362 | July 20, 2018 5:39 PM |
Yes R362. Fuck precedent. Precedent and norms aren’t the law. Obama had options of action (no, I’m not a Russian, nor a Trumpite) to take, which were not the norm, and when dealing with reasonable people, you wouldn’t even consider them. Hindsight is a bitch, but also a learning tool. I think Trump needs to be taken down, within legal bounds, but with more aggression.

CNN just played a clip of Trump's interview with CBS. He was saying no collusion, no collusion, no phone call, nothing. He keeps bringing up no phone call. Nobody is asking him about a phone call. He's very concerned with some phone call lately. It's weird. So what I'm surmising is there was a phone call in which he participated in the conspiracy, and like always the dumbass can't help himself from admitting his crime.
by Anonymous | reply 365 | July 20, 2018 5:49 PM |
R364 that's really interesting. I find it hard to believe someone who got herself so heavily involved in politics wouldn't know the correct numbers or did incorrect math. Also the way that she phrased, 100% even if he loses everything else he got the necessary number of votes," reads really suspicious.

by Anonymous | reply 367 | July 20, 2018 5:55 PM |
That IS interesting, R364. I'm sure of the many things Putin has on Trump is the basic fact that Russia helped get Trump elected--and since, Putin made Trump, he could un-make him. He could order his troll army to turn on Trump. He could even order Senators he has bought and paid for to support Trump's impeachment. Trump really can't breathe without Putin's permission.

The phone call Trump keeps talking about is probably that one during the Russia meeting at Trump Tower where Jr. talked to someone with a blocked number. Either that, or the Cohen call about the Daniels' payoff. Or, maybe a recorded call between him and Putin. Or...
It's just endless.

Meh, I don't know how suspicious her "100%" wording is in the link at R364. Gun girl posted the message at 11:45PM EST election night; I was already in bed then because I knew he was going over the top, even though it hadn't been officially called yet. Of course, that doesn't mean she wasn't complicit with a plot to steal the election, which she totally was.
Blech, didn't want to relive that night.

the database of Manafort texts was released by Emma Best, who requested them from the FBI. Several years ago, the phone was hacked and a database of the messages became available in certain circles Wikileaks has/had the same information but wasn't as keen to release them to the public.
"WikiLeaks had a copy of the database, but ultimately didn’t publish it, despite its newsworthiness and their willingness to publish unredacted information on the Democrats. Their unexplained decision not to put the database into a searchable format and make it public struck me as questionable at the time, but in light of the disclosure of their preference for the GOP it has become not only questionable, but hypocritical."
Wikileaks blames Ukrainian intelligence for the hacks.
I don't see yet evidence that Emma Best is involved in a disinformation campaign in league with Wikileaks, the Daily Caller, or whatever Russia/RW media entities and organizations.

R441, I honestly don’t know, there must be more than one puzzle piece missing. But we will find out soon enough. And I will say this — Roger Stone gets his ROCKS off playing dirty. That’s his angle, it’s what gets him stiff. He has to be doing this for a reason, and it’s always to benefit his buddies. Who does this benefit? If Walker comes down, then I suppose Ryan may too.....if Stone takes out key Rethugs, who is benefitting the most? I believe Stone played a huge roll in taking out Franken. Who the hell is he working for on this? Let’s pretend Stone is picking off key Rethugs — how would that help Trump and even Russia? Maybe the sheer distraction of it? That seems so vague though. No, he is very focused in how he operates. He’s very methodical. It ties in to everything else for sure, but I still think we are missing pieces on this. Could it tie into the NRA? And/or Maria Butina?

They’re scared. Every now and then - memorably, gearing up to and just before the 2016 election, and gearing up to the inauguration - I get Trump spam unsolicited from one of their stolen Wikileaks email lists literally lifted from the DNC (also received unsolicited emails from the Sanders campaign after the breach, but that I am sure will come to light as well). I’m just assuming at this point that the timing of these missives is orchestrated directly from the Kremlin. I always flag them as spam, but they must be reconfiguring the White House email somehow.
Anyway, I got another one from “the White House” yesterday, full of pro-Trump spam propaganda.

Scott Walker & R. Priebus up to mischief with the Wisconsin voting apparatus is not beyond belief.
The recall vote on Walker had some unusual dimensions beyond the expected. The 2018 vote had much activity implying something that looked conspiratorial and infiltrating was happening.
Maybe it was all above board: but have no confidence that was the case.

A guest on MSNBC said this morning that 80% of white evangelicals view Trump as a "divine" figure.
Profiteering TV & megachurch preachers & promoters, hate groups and organization hiding behind religion, and solicitors for donations to send poor, elderly Jewish women care packages and plane fares to Israel, all are perpetuating this inspirational view of Trump. Fox News talking heads will not suggest otherwise.

And, here is Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post, another conservative, calling for Rethuglicans to lose big in November.
[quote] What now? It is not too soon for men and women of good character to demand Trump resign — not because he will do so, but because public servants must now focus on Trump’s danger to the country and how we can limit and eliminate it. For Congress, it is essential to shore up the country’s defenses against Trump — asserting its prerogatives to declare war (and against Trump’s unilateral war-making), protecting the special counsel and deputy attorney general and, yes, refraining from confirming any new judges or executive officers until the cloud over the presidency is removed. Finally, it is more essential than ever that the GOP lose heavily in November’s midterms. [bold]Only with a complete repudiation of Trump and Republican rule can necessary corrective action begin in earnest. [/bold]

Putin is not happy that Mueller is uncovering the detailed sources and methods of Russia’s election interference program. If fully disclosed to our allies they could uncover its vulnerabilities and possibly thwart Putin’s efforts in the future.
Near the end of the 2 hour Helsinki Summit, I suspect Putin called for a 15 minute (bio) break. While the translators were out of the room he told Trump that Mueller was on the verge of uncovering the Kompromat. And that he, Putin was going to be forced to release it sooner unless Trump stopped Mueller and accelerated the remaining elements “Their Plan.”
Since Trump can barely accelerate a golf cart this made him very, very nervous.
That, and the fact that Putin delivered the threat in perfect English.

I stated my theory on the Kompromat earlier, either on this or another thread. I was annoyed with all the brilliant political talking heads on cable news trying to figure out what the Kompromat was, when to me it seemed so obvious!
I started my post with "Duh". (for anyone who may have seen and remembers it).
The Kompromat is hiding in plain sight. It's the election. Putin gave Trump POTUS, Trump knows it. He made Trump President, and he can un-make Trump president. Why had no one mentioned that? Well, someone finally did! Article posted.

The Mueller investigation has in place a SEPARATE CONFIDENTIAL JUDGE who reads the Cohen documents and decides what are and what are not documents protected under attorney/client privilege. The judge recently removed close to 1700 MORE documents and placed them in the general, unprotected pile. It is amazing how FEW documents are protected from the MILLIONS of documents confiscated.

You (and GQ) May well be right R494. We know Trump defensively projects like crazy. The continual comments about the Greatest Presodential Landslide and The Biggest Upset Ever lend credence to your idea.
My only counter thought is that for Putin to convincingly compromise Trump with that Kompromate, he has to reveal the very techniques he wants to keep hidden. It sort of blows his future options. But you may be right.
Trump is insecure. He wants to be accepted as the biggest or best. That’s why I also wonder if the Kompromate might night be that he’s not a multi-billionaire at all. He only plays one on TV. In fact, if Putin were to pull out his cash or call in his debts, Trump might be flat broke: no plane, no Mar Lago, no golf courses, no Towers, no university, no steaks, no shirts. He might have amounted, at age 71, to what he’s feared he’d always be - a broke fraud.
My one other - tho’ far less likely - thought has to do with sexual adequacy. It “really” bothered him that Spy Magazine kept harping on his “short fingers.” His strongest projected insults are “weak” and “little.”
I’m wondering if there is something Stormy Daniels (with whom he’s almost indirectly and begrudgingly admitted an affair) knows about him that she’s still sitting on. For whatever reason, Trump is scared to attack her.

Addressing the "giving the presidency to HRC" discussion earlier....
Believe me, I'm 1000% in support of tossing every single Republican who got into bed with the Russians into jail for treason. However. There simply is no mechanism for nullifying an American presidential election, for very simple reasons - we've never been in this territory before.
Having said that, I'm a fan of the idea tossed around on Twitter that goes something like this:
Dems retake the House and Senate in November.
Nancy Pelosi becomes speaker of the House.
Trump and Pence are impeached. Pelosi becomes President.
Pelosi names HRC as her Vice President, and steps down.
Odds of that happening of course are close to absolute zero, but a boy can dream.

The FISA material shows that Devin Nunes lied (surprise!) when he said the FBI only relied on the Dossier. They did not, because Carter Page had already been caught up in Russian spying. The other reasons they suspected him are blacked out. He also lied when he said the FBI didn't tell the FISA court who source 1 (Christopher Steele) was and who he was working for. The FBI even says in every application source 1 was hired by people trying to find dirt on Trump. They just also mentioned he'd been a reliable source in the past and they thought who he was working for didn't discredit his information.
Cons will also make a big deal out of the FBI got warrants but they are all the same, no new info, no arrest.
To get the warrants renewed, they have to show they are producing fruit. All the black lines in the subsequent applications are the real good stuff.
The applications also state Carter Page is a foreign agent working with Russia to disrupt the election, and they believe he's working with others in the Trump campaign. Those names are sadly blacked out.
Not much new info because most is blacked out, but it at least outs Nunes as the big, fat Russia-loving liar he is.

This afternoon we drove down a main street and saw two people staffing a covered table marked with 'Save Trump' 'Jail Mueller' and 'Wage peace with Russia to stop nuclear war' signs. We made poor guesses profiling the likely suspects at the table: a tall white guy 38-44 yo and a short woman age 64-72. I couldn't see the impetus from a US standpoint to 'jail' Mueller, a Republican FBI director with experience with Mob investigations, who is following only the rule of law, so we concluded there must be Russian agents scattered about the country, petitioning support for oligarchy and fascism under the pathetic and transparent guise of "world peace."
Did anyone else in the US see this kind of display today?

[quote] It's certainly more plausible than Pelosi becoming President and "naming" HRC VP (which she cannot do) and stepping down.
Actually, R563, under Section 2 of the 25th Amendment, she could do precisely that -- with the advice and consent of the House and Senate:
[quote] Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.
But, while Peolsi could do it that way if she were President (it is how Nelson Rockefeller became VP under Gerald Ford), it is, in this instance, an unnecessarily cumbersome process, when the easier one is to have a Democratic majority in the House elect HRC as Speaker, who would then assume the presidency when the president and vice-president were removed for treason.
Unprecedented? Of course -- but then again, we've never had traitors steal the White House for the benefit of themselves and a foreign adversary. So, I don't give a rat's ass that "it's never been done before." It's unorthodox but legal. That's all that matters. At least Hillary had been elected President of the United States by a majority of her fellow citizens who came out to vote and was denied -- by treason, fraud, and chicanery -- from assuming that office.

[quote]Actually, [R563], under Section 2 of the 25th Amendment, she could do precisely that -- with the advice and consent of the House and Senate:
Nope, you missed the point. And again, this was already talked about in the previous thread. Pelosi cannot just name a VP. As was already stated it would have to be confirmed by both the HOUSE and the SENATE which is why I said repeatedly that the easier route would be for them to just vote HRC Speaker of the House if they were going to try to put her in as President.
But again, they aren't going to do any of that. BUT IF THEY DID, it makes more sense to just select her as Speaker of the House rather than go the more difficult, convoluted route.

Exactly. There's no way both the House and the Senate would agree to have HRC as VP (not that Pelosi would make that an option) so no, Pelosi can't just choose HRC like people have been suggesting.

[Quote] Pelosi cannot name HRC as Speaker. HRC would have to first win a Congressional race and then be elected by her peers to Speaker
In his earlier post, Boris was positive.

[quote]People are so fucked up about deserving and "fairness" that I think the only way they'd accept a Hillary presidency -- even though she already won an election -- is to make her go through another election.
One thing I heard over and over was that the popular vote didn't count because people in NY and CA shouldn't be able to choose who the President is over whom the Deplorables wanted. I'd constantly point out that that made no sense because the argument was that people living in Liberal states shouldn't have a vote that meant more than theirs.... yet they wanted their votes to mean more than the majority of the country.
They really are deranged and mentally damaged.

Boris doesn't know his ass from the vodka bottle.

[quote] Nope, you missed the point. And again, this was already talked about in the previous thread. Pelosi cannot just name a VP. As was already stated it would have to be confirmed by both the HOUSE and the SENATE
No. I didn't miss anything. You glossed over and completely ignored the end of the sentence [bold]you quoted [/bold]where I said exactly what you assert that I didn't say:
she could do precisely that -- [bold]with the advice and consent of the House and Senate[/bold]
Confirming is critical, but so is nominating -- or naming -- the person. No one has said that Pelosi could simply do it without conforming to the requirements of the law.
Jeez.

No that was precisely what the argument was that was being made in both the previous thread and this one.

R582 that isnt accurate. People have been saying on here that Pelosi can just name Hillary VP and then step down and give it to her. They think the process works just like the General Election. That's what the clarification is about Pelosi not being able to just name Hillary as VP is coming from.

Link to new thread for when this one maxes out.

First of all, the Democrats have to win the House back before any of this is possible, and although I want it to happen, I don't think that's a given yet. Second of all, once they have won the House back, the Democrats have to hold a vote whether they even want Pelosi back as Speaker to begin with, and that's not a given either.
But if Pelosi does manage to get her Speakership back, Trump and Pence both have to be taken out of office somehow. Ok, not sure how Pence would be removed but let's assume it does happen. Pelosi then ascends to the presidency and appoints Hillary as speaker of the House. She is then supposed to immediately step down so HIllary can ascend to the presidency and take her rightful place in office.
Ummm....you guys realize outside of a Hollywood fantasy movie, none of this is going to happen, right?

R584, I assume people are figuring that there would be a preset plan in place with all of Congress to do the only thing that would right the wrong done to our democracy. She wouldn't just name Hillary as the VP candidate and then hope for the best. It would all be planned out and signed on to by the whole of Congress.

Facebook, Twitter, WaPo and NYTimes get the top-level trolls. But here at DL, we get the entry-level trolls in the work-study program at Moscow Community College.

Yes, R587 that's what we've been trying to point out however the low level Troll didn't seem to get it. Doesn't matter he's apparently been gone for the past 30 posts.

Also has anyone seen this Meme? I find it hysterical because I saw someone post it in a different group and immediately a Drumpf supporter came on to say, "I can easy. I can give you a hundred reasons right now off the top of my head."
One of the members said, "Go ahead then."
And the Deplorable said, "I don't see how you expect me to do that when they've literally been in power for 40 years and everything is all their fault."

Preliminary Assange information (Glenn Greenwald, I know I know)

The Speaker is selected by the ruling party. If that is the Democrats, they can pick whoever they want.
There was some talk at the beginning of Trump Presidency that Newt Gingrich would be elected speaker and he is not currently in the House. No one said he wasn’t qualified. He is an unlikable asshole though.
