As for Elizabeth not being there, it has never made any difference to the way they act around each other so I'm really not sure what they'd expect to happen. In fact, her not being there just means there'd be less chance of seeing them together since Elizabeth documents things and the other two barely ever do.

I’ve said it before, but what Armie needs a Marvel superhero role. It will raise his profile to the general population (ie idiots), and raise his profile among Hollywood (also idiots) as well.

Adam Warlock is the perfect role for him, with his height, his looks and that great booming voice. He can intersperse quality roles that show his acting talent between Marvel movies. This scenario has worked for excellent actors such as Cate Blanchett as Hela, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Not that Armie is good enough actor as these examples. But he could match Scarlett Johanneson, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, etc.

If not even cmbyn wasn't a real turning point for his career I doubt some supporting or minor roles will do the job. He's a good actor with great enough looks for HW standards but limited range and a painfully safe and predictable image. He's doing fine now considering, but it depends what you mean by fine; Henry Cavill is a shit actor compared to him but has found his position in the market and doesn't aim at being anything else than an action star; I consider that to be fine, not Armie's now.

Just look at how many actors Armie has worked with so far who found Oscar or commercial success it's insane, the last on the list being Timotheé....It seems like he's always the one being left behind no matter what. Objectively speaking Chalamet is doing much better. Chalamet will most probably get his second Oscar nomination this year, he will work with the best HW actress in a few months, just filmed an incredibly challenging film that will bring him more mainstream recognition, he is lining up for Dune with mastermind DV, his agent is hinting at a Wes Anderson movie, and award season hasn't even started for him just yet, it would be sad for people to think Armie and him are at the same place right now because it would mean Armie is doing fine with a sub par Broadway play and a little indie movie. I want to see Armie do well, but I have low expectations at the moment.

Armie still has to prove he can act, people are not 100% convinced because he hasn't got that career defying role like most respected actors have. After Call me, by his own admission he didn't get the calls from top directors.

The Leto example is not in terms of his Oscar win, but his steady list of cameos and parts in iconic movies despite not being the main protagonist like in Fight Club or American Psycho or cult movies like Requiem for a Dream, his will to drastically transform his body like when he became obese to portray Lennon killer, a movie nobody saw nor liked but still. But it takes a lot of dedication and major risk taking to achieve that, and Armie taking two "good husband" roles in a raw is not a courageous move for someone who is presenting himself as a risk taker.

When I wrote about Jated Leto’s Oscar and all that, I didn’t mean that Armie has to score one by all means, no, just to mimick what Leto has done. I didn't take it that Armie needed to be reassured all of the time. Luca is a communicative and collaborative director and Armie leaned into that and let himself be vulnerable. Actually Clint Eastwood had to convince Armie to take the role and explain him why he wanted him. Just like for cmbyn he turn down the part, because by his own admission, he felt he wasn't good enough. In nocturnal Animals he had like 3 minutes screen time so there was no need to even mention it.

Armie like said in R211 mentions his weaknesses and doubts about roles all the times in interviews so that's the general idea he himself gave away. Fans wouldn't even know if he didn't repeatedly mention this aspect of his work.

I agree with 213 cause I think the problem is Armie basically plays himself in most of the roles he gets. He is a good choice for the stereotypical rich white guy, and nobody will deny he works hard, so he will keep getting the same roles over and over. Now if he wants to get out of his confort zone he does need coaxing, and someone invested enough in him to not just hire a more talented actor and be done with it. But maybe he is happy the way things are, maybe he values going to sets, learning lines, meeting interesting people and playing different scenarios every few weeks without having to dig too much, just enough.

There's a bit of a surge in interest for Asian related stuff surrounding crazy rich Asians box office success, so the timing is favourable. Vanity Fair has Felicity Jones on the cover as the notorious RBG... things are building up nicely for Armie's projects.... we shall see.

Well it's clear On the Basis of Sex has some box office power, def more than some Oscar worth movies because of the subject and the release time also suggest that they want to capitalize on Xmas holidays. Even the traile has at almost 5M hits, more views than BB for example...But yes Felicity has no chance for noms just buzz given the subject.

As I said somewhere else it's possible the silence surrounding HB is due to the endless legal battles it faced before being freed from W deal few weeks ago and they simply were not sufficiently prepared for a regular promotion; the little info we have is positive. For the director it's his first real movie, but his shorts are solid good so it's promising.

Point is for both movies Armie has the same role and nothing out of ordinary in terms of originality whereby a small role like in STBY was far more interesting if he's serious about his indi direction. It's actually great Armie is collaborating with so many POC, he just has to be careful not to become just a token for the white (good or bad) guy, hopefully his future characters are more complex.

The clips I have seen of BB don't wow me. It looks like a lifetime movie of the week. Not a big fan of Carrell but I am sure it might do fine. I just don't get all the Timmy hype. Interesting one, so just like the rest of the reviews the movie itself is solid, photography and production is incredible of course not without its flaws.

The most mixed opinions are about the characters, many describe them as too 2-dimensional,others appreciate some standing out performances like Patel's. Only a couple this included give Armie some more attention but it seems like there is a bit of a problem with the use of his character like other reviews suggested...

Why give him such a prominent role when so many of the Indian characters — the exceptions being Patel’s Arjun, a kitchen worker who’s also worried about his wife and child, and Anupam Kher, who plays master chef Hemant Oberoi — are reduced to just a scene or two?

This attachment I think is especially damaging for Timmy. As much as I'd hate to see him do it, a Marvel film wouldn't be the worst idea for him if people want to see him "relevant." Looking in hindsight Hammer was a miscast, he is not sophisticated enough to deal with this aftermath. A more secure man would have played this so easily, a couple of looks towards Chalamet, keeping the wife away from the spotlight, keeping his private life a mystery. Timothée is playing the part accordingly, but Armie shitting on the whole thing makes me wish someone else had been Oliver.

How he's acting in real life shouldn't affect how you see his performance. He did the role in the film fine, but yes, his behavior towards the CMBYN crazies is sad.
