The Disappearance of Johnny Gosch- anyone remember this crazy case?
He was the 12 year old Iowa paperboy who disappeared while on his paper route in 1982. Many believed he may have been kidnapped but his case remains to this day a missing persons case. His mother has been searching for him since he disappeared.
The strange twist is she claims 15 years later her son, now 27, appeared on her doorstep, told her what had happened, then fled and she never saw him again.
He was allegedly accompanied by another man and she let them in. John told her he was pulled into a car and hit his head, where he lost consciousness. He ended up waking up in a basement, bound and gagged. He then told her he was repeatedly sexually abused and raped, and his body was used to sexually compromise wealthy businessmen and politicians. He was constantly being moved around the country. He said he was on the run from people and he would be murdered if they ever found out he contacted his mother. He then left and was never seen again.
There is a man who claims he sees Johnny sometimes and he is very much alive. He last saw him in 2018 and Johnny is in hiding, afraid to come forward out of fear of being killed/silenced.
There are rumors that his father was connected to underground pedophiles and he is part of his own son’s vanishing. He sold his son to people to avoid being exposed himself. Noreen (the mother) believes his father had something to do with his disappearance but there has never been proof to back it up.
Scary case that’s always haunted me a bit.

If you lived in Iowa at the time, it was a terrifying time. Kids were disappearing a lot around the country in the late 70s into early 80s. This case sent shivers down everyone in our towns backs. People were scared to let their kids outside alone, something that people weren’t scared about prior.

R9 only you’re lying. As if I don’t know who the fuck you are. Who the fuck runs straight to the search function instead of discussing the topic? You’re a fucking lowlife.

There's a really good documentary on this (I think it's called "What Happened to Johnny" or something like that). I think it's available on Amazon. Anyway, it goes into detail about some pedophile ring involving some politician in Missouri or Nebraska. And there is a young man who said he was abducted and he takes the camera people to a remote house where he says all the kids were kept. The house is abandoned.

This was a scary time in Iowa. I remember Eugene Martin disappearing also.

I knew a girl named Essie who worked a paper route in 1982 (the same year) in Iowa and she almost got abducted. She was 15 at the time and she ran to one of the doors and pounded hard. Thankfully someone came to the door quick and she was safe.

Even in this day and age it would seem out of place in Iowa. Even the more hostile of us value our safety here. You just don’t expect this to happen. Especially in those days Des Moines was half the size. It’s a large town now but was much smaller in those days.

R21 yes, Eugene Martin disappeared from Iowa also, like a year after Johnny and under the same circumstances. His parents were never as vocal as Noreen was about Johnny though. Almost like they were scared to speak.

R23 idk about that. There are tons of missing youths from that area. Omaha to Des Moines was missing tons of kids and teens. Scary times.

Sounds like the mother, poor thing, has been driven to a sort of insanity by it all. And some people have played games with her head.
