Following a thread in which BostonPete has posted is one way to ensure that when we ignore the OP of the thread linked at R137, at least one post from BostonPete will appear in our ignore list. It's the famous troll-dar technique. And it works even when a registered poster chooses not to sign a post with his authenticated name -- in which case, his post is credited to Anonymous. It also works when a registered poster (say, BostonPete) chooses to sign a post with some other random name (like "Greg").

So, if BostonPete's posts appear in your ignore list after you have blocked the OP of the thread linked at R137, then you know that BostonPete and Greg02117 are one in the same ... because we know the OP of the thread linked at R137 is none other than Greg02117.

The metadata necessary to do all that detective work is loaded onto your computer and my computer every time we visit the site. It takes literally 10 minutes to extract it, drop it into Excel and filter posts by a UUID. And when you're logged into your account, it is very easy to link that UUID to your authenticated name and light up all your posts.
