R591, I know they can refuse future series, but my point was that it could very well take their managers fucking FOREVER just to get to the point of either convincing Netflix to accept their far-higher asks for S4 & beyond, or threatening to walk altogether.

I am, however, curious if it'd be in Joe's best interests – in terms of asking for a substantial raise for future HS series – to wait for the Agatha show to air. I don't think anyone knows yet how prominent his role will end up being, but if I was his agent I'd think a wait-and-see attitude for the Marvel show would be smart. (Also, no one's actually WORKING right now in acting, so I don't see how it hurts Joe to wait till Marvel airs his show.)

Kit and Joe have enough leverage as it is. Joe has Marvel, Kit generates press and acclaim for the show just by existing, and they both carry the show. Joe's not going to have the option to wait around and see how Agatha does, there's a more than substantial chance that the show comes out when they'll be rolling on S4.

R4 I could see waiting for Agatha, but Joe and Kit have ton stay in lock step with negotiations.

Re people on the last thread discussing Yaz: I can see her thinking she’d be too big for s3 and thus only signing on for 2 in a bigger role and only agreeing to a guest role in s3. Then again, very few scenes actually happen in the girls school, so she may have just as big a role in s3.

The show doesn't work with Joe and Kit so they should be able to to get whatever they want from Netflix. The fact that Alice and Netflix probably made off their acting is gross. They all know good and well the only reason the show is a hit is because of them.

First, the longer they wait, the more famous joe and Kit will get, harder to schedule and higher salary. Second, as this strike shows, nothing is predictable so they’ll want to get s4 on the schedule anyway. Third, joe and Kit are playing 15, soon to be 16, and 17 respectively. Realistically they’re not going to want to film that, and Netflix won’t want them to either, age 24. They can still pass as their show ages now, if a little mature looking, but even next year when they’re 20/21 will be stretching it, let alone beyond that.

But further, I think they’d likely negotiate together.

I agree that Pride was the beginning of the end, but not the very end. I think probably there were several little things that turned the cast against Bash. He was an ass at Pride. He probably made some inappropriate comments about Charlie. I think the most likely explanation is that Joe tried to play nice at first and didn’t say anything bad about Bash to their mutual friends. He probably told people at Pride to treat Bash how they alway would, which is why we continued to see likes and comments. But if Bash was talking shit about Joe to all his friends, Joe could have decided to do the same. A message to the cast group chat explaining Joe’s side of the story (or even venting to people at a cast hangout) could have very quickly angered the entire cast. Because they all love Joe. And I fully believe Bash did some toxic things around the time they broke up that Joe was previously keeping to himself.

And the bash thing is a long story. He was generally well liked here until he and Joe broke up. He's been petty and weird for months over and it and right or wrong it's made a lot of people reevaluate his past behavior. I’ve hung around DL for a couple of years but was generally not into having everything I posted twisted and raged at. I’m not sure why that basically not tolerated on here but I think there might be an age factor - at guess around half are Gen Z to Millennial which isn’t really the norm on DL that skews a bit more Gen X I’d say. There is also a pretty big pool of regular posters (though we often get accused of being 3 teenage girls) there is somewhere between 25 and 35, probably a bit less at the moment because a lot of frau have fucked off due to a slightly more cunty tone recently. You, like me, will be across both timezones, the UK folk and the Americas. There’s a vibe shift in both which is interesting. Generally I think because it’s such an established group a more friendly tone has sort of been set be unsaid agreement.

A-Dingo-Ate-My-Baby, I love your name. Also love your question of who’s winning. We do tend to invent competitions. A lot of these threads have to do with the personal lives of the cast. Joe and Bash dated for two years, and these threads involved a lot of FBI level investigation into every detail of their relationship. Maybe it was invasive, but a lot of us enjoyed cheering for a couple of young gay actors who seemed happily in love so early in their careers.

Joe definitely won the breakup. Not only is he the main character in the show, while Bash plays the villain. But Joe is also aggressively cute, very funny, and well liked by all the other cast members. Bash has been acting fairly petty and annoying, and the rest of the cast is now actively distancing themselves from him. Some DLers hate him more than others, but I don’t think anyone who actually likes Bash is still reading/posting here.

Kit’s obviously a big fan favorite, and also popular on these threads. Tobie (who plays Isaac) is openly gay and extremely close to Joe and Kit. Will (who plays Tao) is also close friends with the other male cast members, especially Kit, but has a girlfriend and has never disclosed his sexuality.

Kizzy (who plays Darcy) is trans and sometimes counted as part of the male cast even though he plays a female character. Obviously Yaz is trans, but she’s also extremely self centered. The other female actors are talented (except Rhea/Imogen) but mostly ignored on these threads.

New comer Bradley (who plays James) is another openly gay actor who was the butt of a lot of jokes on these threads in the time between filming and airing s2. But now that we’ve seen him on camera, and also shifted to primarily hating Bash, Bradley is gaining a bit more respect.

The conversation around gay TV characters who match Joe/Kit for chemistry, I would say the only ones I think came close (and kind of set the benchmark for Gen Z queer m/m love on screen) was Isak and Even in Skam. As far as I'm aware the actors were straight (one made a point of not disclosing his sexuality but last time I checked was in a long term relationship with a woman), and I don't think they even had an intimacy co-ordinator as it wasn't really the done thing in the mid 2010s but there were a few scenes I definitely remember feeling some kind of way about. I do think Kit and Joe as Nick and Charlie have them beat, but I'll definitely always have a soft spot for Isak and Even.

I agree that the Eric/Adam chemistry in Sex Education just isn't there. I like both actors and I find both characters likeable enough but I can't remember any stand out kissing/sex scenes between them apart from maybe the one where they were in detention together, I think in the first season.

I'd also say that I do think Edvin and Omar genuinely have good chemistry in YR and it's great they're allowed to have sex, but both their characters are so fucking miserable most of the time that it kind of weighs the dynamic down.
