I’m curious as to just how much of this MM set up. I wonder if she told backgrid to follow them as they drove deliberately to stage this whole thing. I do not put anything past her and she has only been emboldened because the media does not call her on her shit.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 18, 2023 6:43 AM |
What is it that they aspire to do versus what is it that they actually do?
I think that they aspire to be the Clooneys - he is handsome, independently wealthy and globally famous. She is a globally famous International Lawyer, not unattractive, wears clothes well and is as well connected as it’s possible to be.
Or Angelina Jolie (plus Brad pre divorce) - globally famous, dropping in to random African civil war hotspots, adopting a rainbow family (maybe not that part for Megs), being filmed picturesquely dusty in neutral toned trouser/over shirt/sandal combos, holding back tears as she strokes the foreheads of the little African children.
What they don’t aspire to be are the truly equally wealthy as George and Amal and Angelina but who go about their philanthropy completely under the radar. Not for clicks on new media. The people who you never hear about or who you know but never publish their philanthropy.
Apart from handing out random packets of corn chips at crime scenes I’ve seen no evidence of any money parting hands. It’s always “Archewell made a donation” or “The Duke and Duchess made a contribution” but no dollar values are mentioned. Of course that would be tacky (the late Queen apparently routinely made donations to causes throughout the Commonwealth but the numbers were never published) but if you’re going to do performative grief in Uvalde or donating your crap childrens’ book to a bunch of disinterested children in Harlem, step the fuck up and show me the money, you frauds!

[quote] I’m curious as to just how much of this MM set up.
Megs didn't set it up. Her PR firm did. As a means to establish "evidence" to positively impact Harry's security legal battles in England. And I have no doubt that, despite this being seen as the crock/ruse it is, Harry's barristers will STILL attempt to use it in court to their advantage.
The media doesn't "call Megs on her shit" because it's not within the realm of their agenda to do so. In other words, shovel it all you want honey. We won't say a thing. Again, what passes for truth in journalism these days.

by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 18, 2023 7:06 AM |
R12 Megs/Harry set up the parameters, based on what they thought they needed for a positive legal outcome in the UK. WME, their PR firm, then filled in the bits to ensure it played out in print as convincingly as possible. CNN did its irresponsible journalism bit by running with the story with zip checking/veracity. In the end, it's another one of Meg's grifter plays that went no where, that no one will call her on, especially not the media, and that no one will remember by next week. Except of course Harry's lawyers, who, as previously stated, will try to use it to Harry's advantage.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 18, 2023 7:08 AM |
R11 Backgrid is the go to organisation for a particular type of celebrity who wants to be photographed out doing a pap stroll, usually in support of an agenda. The photographee has final say on which pictures are to be used. It’s completely shameless and of its time.
For example if there is expected media coverage, particularly involving the Princess of Wales, Markle will appear pretending not to know that she’s been papped, like clockwork, within 24 hours, to compete for the front page of the tabloids.
Another key is that the celebrity always looks great and is papped in a place where they could usually expect some privacy, such as a random Sushi restaurant in Montecito or a hiking trail (hiking with friends - no dogs allowed) in the hills nearby. The photographers allegedly just stumbled on her.
Check out the Daily Mail (if you can) or TMZ (if you must) photo credits - invariably Backgrid.

The Post gently, barely, what do we do? walking it back.
"A taxi driver who transported the couple for a part of their journey after attending the event told The Washington Post in an interview that he would not call the incident a chase, adding that he felt safe during the ride."
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 18, 2023 9:25 AM |
In any event, "catastrophes" tend to involve more than three people.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 18, 2023 9:27 AM |
So blatantly, transparently set up and blown out of proportion that it’s truly embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 18, 2023 9:28 AM |
"Varying perspectives have now been put forward after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed to be involved in what they described as a “near catastrophic car chase” with paparazzi photographers in New York City.
The Sussexes, accompanied by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, had just left an award ceremony in Manhattan on Tuesday night when they said they were subjected to a two-hour “relentless pursuit” by a “gang” of at least six paparazzi in blacked-out vehicles.
But the couple's version of events has been played down by authorities in New York as senior NYPD chiefs and mayor Eric Adams released statements.
While photographers and a taxi driver also gave their account of the incident which was reported as a two-hour chase through the city's Upper East Side."
As ever, recollections may vary. They are so hungry they can't think anything through.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 18, 2023 9:39 AM |
The story here in the UK is being reported for its 'conflicting accounts' rather than it being 'near catastrophic'.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 18, 2023 9:43 AM |
It is nonstop drama with these two. Love them or hate them, you have to admit that drama follows them wherever they go. Their lives must be utterly exhausting.
I just think about what they could have accomplished in their original roles as Commonwealth Ambassadors. They could have had every single thing they ever wanted, but it required patience and humility. Short supply in that household.
Drama is their currency.

by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 18, 2023 10:01 AM |
It took the press three days to inform the public that it was the Prince and the Pauper who described the terrible awful as a near catastrophic car chase. Not the police. Or the cabbie who was driving them. John Miller, who seems to be auditioning for a job, gave a half-assed account of an incident that he did not personally witness. Would they have garnered three days of free press for an award that most of us have never heard of? No. Even the Mayor is skeptical of just how much danger they were in. He made a point to say that it was NOT a two hour high speed chase as some reports have described it. The two cops assigned to be a part of their private security detail were the only ones at some risk of being injured. TWO. COPS. Gurl, you were NEVER in danger. Of anything other than being ignored.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 18, 2023 10:04 AM |

R25 We’re all rather relieved.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 18, 2023 10:26 AM |
Their PR people really did them a disservice with that overwrought statement they released. I get that they were specifically trying to get the tabloids to not publish the photos, and it did cause the DM and Daily Express to delete their stories, but the melodramatic language made it too easy for conspiracists and haters to pretend like they claimed there was a lengthy two-hour non-stop high-speed chase through midtown Manhattan. They didn't say that, of course, but people will claim they did, because they also want to claim that this was a set-up, or a lie, or faked, or whatever seems more exciting to them and/or fits their personal agenda.
Their publicity needs to understand that both sides, the haters and fans alike, are histrionic, and they need to keep their own statements calm and as neutral as possible.

[quote]They both have smartphones. Where are their videos of the pesky moped paparazzi weaving in and out of traffic?
Quote from the previous thread.
There are photos of Harry taking video of the paps so clearly there is video. I doubt he'd release it, but others posted snippets of video which are all over Twitter, I think they originally came from TikTok, showing them trying to drive off in the SUV with the police escort, and also other video showing a mass of paps around the taxi. I really don't get why so many on DL are still saying it never happened. The haters on Twitter aren't even saying that anymore.

Say what??? Perhaps you should go back and read the first sentence of the CNN report. Or the headline of the Beeb's report "Prince Harry and Meghan say New York City car chase was relentless".
[quote] I really don't get why so many on DL are still saying it never happened.
Because it DIDN'T happen. Not one event in that PR-generated report happened. Except in the highly-heated, over-imaginative brains of Megs, Harry and their PR firm. Those exclaiming "OK, well this didn't happen, but . . . but . . . that DID happen" are hedging, attempting to keep the drama flame on high on a rapidly-cooling non-event.
The easier way to "get" Megs is to remember that whatever comes out of her mouth is a lie. That she is forever calculating what to say to reap reward/advantage.

One of the most curious aspects of this event is that not one single medium approached Doria for comment. She was right there. An eye witness. Which was obvious by reading the statement. Even though it was histrionic and melodramatic and stupid as hell, the statement said "near collisions." Once we got info from the NYPD and heard there were scooters involved, it was obvious what had happened.
That doesn't mean it wasn't dangerous. TMZ is saying they were chased out on the FDR briefly, and HuffPo said the paps hit a parked car and almost hit someone on the sidewalk. I don't understand why the statement didn't just say this plainly from the beginning. There was no need to exaggerate that with "relentless two hour near catastrophic car chase."

[quote]I think that they aspire to be the Clooneys - he is handsome, independently wealthy and globally famous. She is a globally famous International Lawyer, not unattractive, wears clothes well and is as well connected as it’s possible to be.
Actually, Amal's ascension into global stardom is a testament to the power of PR machinations and not her own accomplishments. For those machinations to work, the client has to be cooperative. Amal cooperated, Meghan did not. Meghan could have had a similar outcome as Amal if she had been cooperative, able to ACT nice and be a team player. She and Amal were both plucked from obscurity with some similarities yet such different outcomes.
Amal was just a junior entertainment lawyer when she was recruited by Clooney's Fixer as damage control after his unfortunate incident with the Italian twink. She was a second chair lawyer in her 30s whose father had made huge donations of cash and equipment to her university thus her law degree. Clooney's PR gave her a makeover and stylist, scrubbed the internet of all info about her except her degree and manufactured a new resume for her that proclaimed she was a Human Rights Lawyer. Human Rights was her new BRAND! PR announces this Human Rights BRAND and the media and entertainment shows parrot it without fact checking and it just becomes gospel. She changes her last name to his last name and suddenly she's world famous. His PR purchases for her meritless Time magazine cover and award (like Meghan) plus other awards and also purchase for her UN Speaking Engagements (like Meghan). In reality, her smoke and mirrors human rights career is just speaking engagements and awards masked as expertise and the gullible public buys it. It is an unearned career but so well packaged and presented by PR that no one questions it!
Meghan was in a similar situation. In her 30s, career hadn't really taken off despite her father's help getting her started. Suddenly she's made world famous not by her own accomplishments but by marrying someone famous and changing her name to his just like Amal. She has all the resources of his PR and plus her own PR at her fingertips (PLUS STYLISTS) yet she is so UNLIKABLE, shabbily presented, manipulative, malicious and uncooperative that neither team of seasoned PR professionals can rebrand her and sell her as a Humanitarian or even as a decent family member, she's just too innately nasty.
Fun FACT: The "Clooneys" were at the Harry and Meghan's wedding because George owed Sunshine Sachs a favor. He used Sunshine Sachs ruthless Fixers (the best in the industry) to bury his mess in Italy with the boy. Same Sunshine Sachs Fixers his old buddy Harvey Weinstein used to intimidate and silence his victims until he was exposed.

The only reason they’re being humiliated—once again!— is because they deliberately drew attention to a non-event that was ridiculously easy to expose as an over-exaggeration and a ham-handed attempt to damn the media and win public approval.
They’ve managed to stay quiet and behave themselves over the past couple months. Didn’t even pull a stunt during the coronation. I thought they might have finally smartened up and realized that clamming up was the only path to professional redemption.
But, nope! Because they are such fucking dummies they had to gin up this stunt after luring the paps to the low rent award ceremony that they (bought) attended. Can’t imagine this drama will raise their coinage among the Hollywood Alist…or B/C lists either.

My favorite part of the story is that Harry and Meg were reportedly photographed during the "chase" without seatbelts!!! And that Harry reportedly had his escort cars drive ahead to block traffic, so that his car to run red lights or stop signs to get away from the horrible, awful, paparazzi!!!
What makes it horribly ironic is that his mother died and traumatized him for life, because she the security driver she had at the wheel was shitfaced, and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and Harry absolutely REFUSES to believe that her own people were at fault - he blames the paps 100% and dismisses the drunk driver as a factor. And he's developed and obsessive hatred of the press, as a consequence... and it seems his obsessive hatred of the wrong people is now leading him to recreate the dangerous conditions that actually killed poor Diana! He's literally afraid that the paps will kill Meg "llike they killed mum", but HE is the one putting Meg of being killed, while there are paps around.

When it comes to the paparazzi he is completely irrational, out of touch with reality, batshit crazy, and lets his Mommy Issues call 100% of the shots! And his obsessive fear that the paps that the paps will kill his wife like they supposedly killed his mother is the nuttiest thing in his book, and is there any better proof that he's projected ALL of his mommy issues onto his wife?
But the absolute craziest thing is that here he is denying the conditions that killed his mother, and re-creating them. I read his idiotic book, and believe me, that guy is so monumentally messed up that I couldn't even begin to play armchair psychologist with him.

It’s only a “chase” to the extent H&M tried to get away from the paps who were no doubt fully expected since this was an event on their public schedule. Their drivers tried to get away and to block the paps. If the Sussexes were actually concerned about public safety, they would have let the paps take their pics. It’s not like they were on a secret national security mission.

Is not Backgrid, the employer of at least four of the paparazzi, the agency Meg calls to tell them where she’ll be so they can take photos - which if she approves Backgrid can then sell?
My guess is that she set it all up in an effort to boost their chances for protection in the UK and of course, for the attention. As for their “near catastrophic” statement, if and when they “clarify” the story having been shown to be fabulists, you can bet it’ll be the spokesperson’s fault, not that of the Duke and Duchess of Deceit.

I'm not so sure Meghan is the one behind this... this sounds more like Harry and his paranoia with anything he can't control regarding the press. I don't think she's any more narcissistic than your average actress. Harry, on the other hand, seems to instigate her or call her attention to things she would not otherwise pay attention to. For example, in his book, he talked about how at the beginning of their relationship Meghan was not reading the tabloids and was generally unaware of what they were saying about her. He wrote that he had to point out to her how evil the tabloids were and how what they were doing this because she was biracial. I don't think it ever occurred to her. Similarly, it was Harry who related to her a probably innocuous comment about what their baby would look like made by a member of his family, and added a racial component to a pretty normal thing people wonder about.

Because he’s delusional. He wants the Sleb Adoration, Attention and Glam on his own terms: when he wants it and to craft the narrative that he wants only.
When photos, headlines or press don’t go his way, he acts like a tantruming toddler and wants to force the narrative favourably by forcing those that surround him.
Basically his ego and demands are ginormous and delusional.

Per TMZ:
Harry and Meghan's legal team fired off a letter to the Backgrid photo agency, claiming in part they need the agency's footage of the "chase" to shore up their own security, adding ... "We hereby demand that Backgrid immediately provide us with copies of all photos, videos, and/or films taken last night by the freelance photographers after the couple left their event and over the next several hours."
Backgrid's lawyer has rejected the Sussex's demand, saying in a letter ... "In America, as I'm sure you know, property belongs to the owner of it: Third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps Kings can do. Perhaps you should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago. R143, Charles is head of state, it's diplomatic protocol for heads of state to issue statements of sorrow and solidarity when such disasters happen. Harry and Meghan riling up their hysterical, lunatic fans and turning them against his father is potentially damaging to Britain's diplomatic relations. R128 - Prince Charles did NOT cut off Harry’s security. This falsehood needs to be put to rest once and for all. The “governments” of the UK and Commonwealth countries made this decision as Harry would not be visiting or staying in their countries on official “Royal” business as they no longer worked for the firm.
What Charles did do was cut off his financial assistance and/or annual allowance which left him unable to finance his own security or pay rent at the time. This is when Tyler Perry got involved which is a story for another post. Harry is now funding his own security in the US. However, he wants “Royal Protection” 24-7 whenever he visits the UK and has offered to pay for this. The “Royal Protection” providers have said “no” to this request. Harry filed a lawsuit because he disagreed with the decision the “Royal Protection” providers made.
All full-time “Working British Royals” have security 24-7 in one form or another. Part-time “Working British Royals” have security whenever they are working for the duration of a particular engagement only. I assume this includes the transportation with proper security to and from the engagement and their home.
Andrew: This is where it gets hairy and to some degree smelly. When Andrew got the axe, his security was pulled. However, QEII privately paid for Andrew to continue to have 24-7 Royal Personal Perfection. I believe the reason for this was not to the keep public away from Andrew but to keep Andrew away from undesirables (book publishers, journalists, oligarchs,…etc…etc). The Royal Personal Protection Officer was basically a combination of a minder, babysitter, spy reporting back to the palace and companion. Andrew’s daughters do not rate “Royal Protection”, but Andrew paid privately for them to have it when they are in the UK. QEII increased his annual allowance to cover this expense so actually QEII was paying for Beatrice & Eugenie’s UK “Personal Royal Protection”.
Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park, which is where Royal Lodge and Frogmore cottage are located, have their own security force just like Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace. Providing security for Royal Lodge and Frogmore Cottage is not an issue as security is already there and paid for in full.
Anne: This really does not smell too bad. Anne owns the Gatcombe Park Estate in Gloucestershire 100%. Gatcombe Park is a working estate. It is her private property purchased for her by QEII at the time of her first marriage to Mark Phillips. An agreement was reached with the government to provide security for the WHOLE estate (plus Anne, her spouse and her children until they completed university) before it was purchased for Anne. This agreement is still in effect. The estate includes Anne’s large country house, at least three good sized manor houses and numerous normal houses and/or cottages. Zara lives on the estate in one of the manor houses as it allows her to have 24-7 security as long as she is physically on the estate. If she gets in her car and drives to a pub she is basically on her own. Zara has given this explanation in at least two interviews as to why she and Mike Tyndall sold their house and moved to Gatcombe Park.
Again, Charles did not “cut off” Harry’s security. The Royal Personal Protection Security was cut off because the Sussexes were no longer Full-time Working Royals and no longer living in and/or on a Royal Property. Like Zara, the Sussexes have Royal Security when in residence at Frogmore Cottage but if they get into a car and drive over to one of their personal charities to make a visit, they do not have Royal Personal Protection Security unless they are on official business for the crown.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been close with George and Amal Clooney for years - even inviting them to their wedding - but the Hollywood couple have shown support for King Charles
The couple attended Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018 in Windsor, even though they later reportedly admitted they 'didn't know' the royals well at the time.
But at some point along the line they became firm friends with Amal among the select group of friends at Meghan's baby shower in New York a year later - although it's unclear how close the foursome still are today.

The Scobie book "Finding Freedom" was not bad. Scobie is not the 100% Sussex mouthpiece as he is accused of being by many. However, if a news program, TV chat show or podcast wants a guest panelist that is not anti-Sussex (like 99% of the writers for The Daily Fail) then Scobie is the go-to journalist. These type of media guests are few and far between so Scobie sorta has the market cornered and I am sure he names his price. Scobie reminds me of Erin Vanderhoof, who writes for Vanity Fair covering Royals.
Saying Scobie and Vanderhoof are 100% "pro-Sussex" is definitely stretching it. I would say it is more of not being 100% anti-Sussex. The reason Scobie seems 100% "pro-Sussex" is because the journalist he is compared to are pure & complete Sussex hates such as Dan Wootton and Piers Morgan.
Anyone would seem 100% "pro-Sussex" compared to Dan Wootton and Piers Morgan.

No one cared about the award show. Royal watchers barely even talked about it. I don't even know if it was mentioned here on DL because I didn't look.
Since no one cared, the next morning they had to release a statement to the press that they were in a NEAR CATASTROPHIC car chase. No one was reporting on it. It wasn't an actual event that became organic news. It was them announcing it and making it news.
I hope they eventually find true peace and happiness with themselves, but this isn't it.

R196 - I am sure it is possible to be friends with both KCIII and the Sussexes. The Clooney's are experts at this type of things. I have no doubt the Clooney's have a beneficial relationship with both the Sussexes and KCIII. Also, Charles is NOT the Harry hater; William "Peggington" Wales is.
Amal wants an OBE and possibly a Damehood and both the Clooneys want their son to attend Eton so throwing money at Charles's charities and lending a celebrity presence to this type of Royal "do" is not a bad idea.
Footnote: Also, Charles is NOT the Harry hater; William "Peggington" Wales is the Harry hater.

No doubt IPP Status would be a big benefit to Harry when he is in the UK or other Commonwealth Countries but I do not think it would do him much good (on a US Federal level) or give him any additional benefits in the USA.

There were multiple threads consisting solely of her and three other posters (most likely her talking to herself using her sockpuppets) endlessly fat shaming members of One Direction and Lewis Capaldi and their girlfriend's.
I find this hilarious because I'm pretty sure KGT is the exact opposite of a minnow herself.

It is amazing to see how happy Prince Harry seems, affectionate words and interaction with /about his grandparents and Prince William, his pride in serving the Queen. by Anonymous | reply 260 | May 19, 2023 4:31 AM |
R259 Yup the Palace PR machine managed to make Harry into the fun-loving, 'war hero' prince. It was only after marring Meghan that he heavily pushed back against the Palace machinery to reveal what a sad and weaselly man he really is. What I find hilarious is that he's continuously alleges that the Palace would leak positive stories about William and negative ones about him (which is bullshit), yet he is clearly so far up his own ass about his supposed victimhood he forgets that before Meghan, while he was under the wing of the Palace, he was the most popular member of the royal family next to the late Queen. That didn't happen because the Palace was leaking negative stories about him.
by Anonymous | reply 261 | May 19, 2023 4:34 AM |
Actually that's an interesting point. As much as Harry thinks the press has always been public enemy #1. He's also always been protected by the fact the majority of the British press is royalist and play along with the great game of "have your press department provide us with enough material to sell news and we'll only follow you at agreed times". Given covid and everything. Was this his first time meeting a press core in the wild?

They want the Int'ly Protected Person status because it affords visual confirmation that they are SUPER IMPORTANT, and perhaps because it affords other things, such as ultra-luxurious places to stay while travelling, paid for by the taxpayer, and Diplomatic Immunity wherever they go.

Here's my theory for why Harry is angrily demanding that Brackgrid turn over their film, and Backgrid gave him a snarky public reply, even though Backgrid has cooperated with their staged photos in the past:
Before the NYC event, someone on Team Harkle called Backgrid and asked for paps to be outside the event and to follow the car, thinking that it'd make the Harkles look popular, and maybe help Harry's latest security-related court case. This person did not tell Harry, because Harry would have forbade it, because he has a batshit crazy fear of paps. And when Harry saw that his car was being followed by several paps, he freaked out and demanded that his security team drive like it was a terrorist attack. Now I ask you.. would anyone on Team Harkle call in Backgrid on wheels, without clearing it with Meg???
Which if true, would leave Backgrid in the hilarious position of being the target of being both the target of Harry's righteous anger, and holding ALL the cards. At least on Meghan, because if Harry ever came to believe that she was calling the paps behind his back that marriage would be over. But of course, making him believe that would be a bit of a struggle, because what Harry believes is... unusual. Like, drunk drivers aren't at all dangerous, he believes that.

I remember thinking that too when I watched a documentary (surprisingly interesting) about Prince Charles; Haz seemed so enthusiastic about his father, while William was quieter, more circumspect. But then that's the way it is dealing with very emotional people: they love you one minute & hate your guts the next.
I suppose a lot of the British press coverage of this events reflects feelings of vindication on their part - the shit they pulled on us & they're now pulling on the Americans. HA HA! Have we finally silenced the paid Bouzyite hoarde?

[quote]Is not Backgrid, the employer of at least four of the paparazzi, the agency Meg calls to tell them where she’ll be so they can take photos - which if she approves Backgrid can then sell?
The comments about Backgrid being hired by Meghan were the same thing you see on all social media about all celebrities: "They had to call Backgrid themselves" kinds of things. Then there was some conspiracy theory about her hiring Backgrid to pretend to stalk her for the documentary, and those same people said the same thing about this incident.
Backgrid wouldn't hire themselves out knowing they were going to be shown in a film and also written up in the press as being irresponsible and dangerous. That just doesn't make any sense. They would lose business that way.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | May 19, 2023 12:14 PM |
Meghan is long documented as having worked with Backgrid in her Suits days.
Also, Backgrid are going to show up wherever they can make money. End of story.
Meghan likes to play on Harry's darkest fears. She called backgrid and then pretended to him that they were being "chased".
"Chased" through NYC gridlock? She's evil, but she's dumb. Every New Yorker and well-travelled foreigner can easily call out her stunt.

What’s the story re the Daily Mail and the Mirror (?), “the pap photos were posted on the front page and then were deleted”. Like there’s something suspicious. America doesn’t care about the Royal family and is loaded with celebrities. If they didn’t manufacture all this drama, nobody would be checking for them. The black liberal public figures have distanced themselves from this duo. Don Lemon , Whoopi , Oprah are clearly no longer on H&M’s team. Just two years ago, right after the Oprah interview, Don Lemon , Whoopi expressed their support to H&M on their shows. However, their have changed their stance since then. Don Lemon said he wouldn’t air family members’ dirty laundry publicly like Harry. Whoopi mocked MM on the view multiple times. Oprah is nowhere to be found in H&M’s events.

I would DEARLY love to see Harry and Meg, or other rich fuckers, get in trouble for violating traffic laws and endangering everyone else on the streets of NYC, because they don't like paparazzi! Seriously, that can't be legal! I mean, driving fast breaking traffic laws if you're in danger has to be excusable, but they weren't in any danger, they were suffering a minor inconvenience. And they were allegedly going 3x the legal speed limit and using an extra car to "block traffic", which implies that they were running stop signs or red lights and blocking cars that had the legal right of way.
And I would like the judge who hands down a verdict against Harry tell him to his face, "The traffic laws are there to protect you from another incident like that one in Paris. If your mother and her people had obeyed the traffic laws, they would not have died the way they did.". Which would be completely true.

According to Page Six, H&M wanted to stay at the Carlyle, Diana’s favorite NYC hotel. The hotel, however, refused to give them the discount they asked for. The two wound up staying at a friend’s place. On the night of the “chase,” they tried to shake off the photographers because they did not want to reveal where they were staying. So, if they had only agreed to pay for the room at the Carlyle none of this would have happened.

But he hasn’t done anything to help himself. R354 I’ve stayed at the Carlyle on a work trip. It’s stupid expensive and certainly not the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. But! During my short stay I had encounters with a bunch of guests that had bodyguards, so definitely a place dealing with high profile people. (I have very funny story of escorting an older lady to her room -she had half a floor— because her bodyguards were on dinner break. Thought she was jokingat first but next day rode on elevator —still have elevator operators!—and she introduced me to the bodyguards)
Anyway, if my company could afford to put me up there, they certainly could afford it. Doesn’t surprise me at all that they felt entitled to steep discount.

The Carlyle has old-school cache but there are many better NYC hotels for their particular purposes.
The Four Seasons, for example, has two entrances very distant from one another, on separate streets. The Carlyle has the Madison Avenue entrance and it's side entrance is merely around the corner, very nearby. The Four Seasons is also on 57th street. The whole "car chase" that wasn't could have been easily avoided had they stayed there.
The Carlyle is not somewhere you go if you are trying to escape photographers. The management may be discreet, but the geography of the place makes it impossible to slip out and get away unseen by anyone waiting outside.

M was the key witness in the case and joined the proceedings as a co-plaintiff. She is represented by British barrister Amal Clooney and German lawyers Sonka Mehner and Natalie von Wistinghausen.

Recollections may vary when it comes to Meghan and Harry’s car chase. The Sussexes’ statement this week supplied fodder for the front pages, and, more importantly, my group chats. ‘Near fatal is such a great phrase,’ one friend said, ‘anything can be near fatal if you squint hard enough.’
She’s referring to the press release put out by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Wednesday, which claimed that they were ‘involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.’
‘This relentless pursuit,’ they said, ‘lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers.’
It didn’t take long for their story to start falling apart. Camilla Tominey from the Daily Telegraph wrote that there was ‘a gap between fantasy and reality that you could drive a car through.’ Details remain hazy of the two-hour car chase that, by the way, is said to have taken place in the busy, often gridlocked streets of Manhattan. If there’s one thing New Yorkers like to do, it’s tell you the ins and outs of living in New York. Within minutes of the statement’s release, Manhattanites were countering that a two-hour high speed chase in one of the most congested cities on earth is all but impossible.
The NYPD’s response proved more revealing. ‘There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging,’ they said in a statement provided to The Spectator, adding that: ‘the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests in regard.’
The photo agency Backgrid, who retained the services of the cameraman and photographers, released a statement saying that ‘according to the photographers present, there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident.’

CONT'D
Harry and Meghan reacted to this undermining of their ‘truth’ calmly: by sending a legal letter to the agency, demanding copies of all their photographs and footage. But Backgrid’s lawyer was unfazed, responding:
‘In America, as I’m sure you know, property belongs to the owner of it: third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps kings can do. Perhaps you should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago. We stand by our founding fathers.’
It wouldn’t be the first time the couple have hyperbolised. In 2020, they claimed to Oprah Winfrey that Meghan and their then unborn child had been the victims of racism. Three years later, the couple appeared to backtrack, with Meghan suggesting there was ‘unconscious bias’ in the Royal Family. After three years of this, we are rightfully wary to believe anything they say. Also, you’ll notice that Harry hasn’t released the footage that the pair recorded on his phone, which would prove their story in seconds. Maybe he’s already signed away the exclusive rights to Netflix.
It’s slightly sad that it has come to this. When any other celebrity claims that they were involved in a scary incident, we have no reason to question them. (Well, except Jussie Smollett.) But Meghan and Harry have created an atmosphere that has made it hard to trust them when they tell us the colour of their socks.
There is also the Diana angle. In the mental health docuseries, The Me You Can’t See, Harry said: ‘My mother was chased to her death. And now look what’s happened. You want to talk about history repeating itself? They’re not going to stop until she dies.’
It’s possible that this latest statement is a result of Prince Harry’s paranoia, which is understandable. But ‘the Diana comparisons have caused unnecessary hurt for William,’ a source close to Harry’s family claimed. ‘The family had just started to move on from previous sagas with the Sussexes.’
I wrote a few weeks back that we should be expecting something of a Meghanaissance. The duchess recently hired a new PR team that was taken on specifically to rebuild her plunging reputation with the American public — there is no chance with the British. But even I didn’t expect the claim of a near-death experience to be first on the checklist.

I think the reason there has been so much blowback this time is because what they are claiming is an impossibility in NYC, combined with their attempt to manipulate public feeling by claiming they were in a near-Diana level crash. The implicit use of his mother's fate is something that is really starting to rub people the wrong way, especially when it is so untrue and unwarranted, as it obviously is here.
Add on the fact that New Yorkers themselves took this as a bit of a slap in the face to them, and you have large groups of annoyed people in America as well as in Britain.

Yes. Something very hinky about where they were staying in NYC. Airbnb? Russian Oligarch property? Shady connection? Not-so-nice-digs?
They do this quite a bit. They hide things that are questionable or spurious in their lives*whilst simultaneously being exploitative of other aspects of their lives. It’s a schizophrenic existence and ultimately is not sustainable long-term.
*Their children are an example of this. Something’s up with those kids: timelines don’t match, photos are irregular and obtuse, and the pregnancies/christenings/miscarriages were flat out bizarre. Everything about their walk into and out of the Women of Vision venue indicates that Harry and Meghan wanted pap photos. They truly believed that she looked like a bombshell, glamorous, old Hollywood star, with a literal prince on her arm and with all the lights and cameras and world's attention on them. The hired SUVs and security team were all intended to add to this image of the global star. That's the impression they wanted to give. They wanted pap photos.
They could have got the pap shots and then shaken off the paps if they'd simply done what all celebrities at these kinds of events do and stayed in a nearby hotel and discreetly left by the back entrance. But, no, they wanted to pretend that they can still lead a "normal private life" by "staying with friends" while milking this event for all it was worth for glamour shots and for promoting Meghan's image as a glamorous and renowned activist.

Lol, and to back up what I just posted at r437, apparently their friends are saying the same thing: it was Harry and Meghan's choice to parade past the photographers! Their rep even told the NYT that the pap parade photos were "some of the most beautiful images of the evening”.
[quote]Prince Harry and Meghan Markle personally decided to walk in front of the group of photographers outside the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Tuesday night — who they later blamed for an allegedly “near-catastrophic car chase.”
[quote]The couple’s decision was made despite their security being led by a former member of Barack Obama’s Secret Service detail known as “the king of the back exits” for his ability to quietly get celebrities out of high-profile situations.
[quote]The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were accompanied by Chris Sanchez, a renowned ex-Secret Serviceman, as they left the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Tuesday night.
[quote]Sanchez was with the Sussexes as they jumped from a blacked-out SUV into a yellow taxi while trying to escape from the photographers who were trying to follow them back to a friend’s home.
[quote]A source close to the Sussexes told us the couple decided to walk out the back of the ballroom around 10 p.m. because they wanted to give waiting photographers a shot of them.
[quote]“Harry and Meghan were willing to give everyone those shots when they left the event, that was not the problem, but they were tailed from that point on,” the source said.
[quote]Their rep, Ashley Hansen, told the New York Times Friday: “They were some of the most beautiful images of the evening,”

R424 - Camilla Tominey's article linked upthread hints at where their money might be going, and it's not rooms at exclusive hotels in LA or SB. Blink and you might have missed it. Harry misses his home country and even keeps UK hours staying up to the early morning hours gaming. I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet. As former police officers who served on protective details for members of his family have commented, you let the photographers take their pictures on your terms. You do not engage in car chases. If they are in danger, you get them to a safe place quickly. You don'r play "cat and mouse."
This episode demonstrates the ineptitude f his private security. It does not serve his suit against the Home Office well.

Amal Clooney is a human rights lawyer NOW, but it's surprisingly difficult to find anything about such activities before she met George in 2013, which I tried to do after R72's post. For example, she represented Julian Assange not as a human rights lawyer but as his defence lawyer in the Swedish rape case. In the same period she represented those giants of philanthropy, the executives from Enron. Apart from clerking at the UN for a few months, all her famous human rights cases have occurred after she was with Clooney.
Also, did anyone read R409's link? It's extremely peculiar if it's meant to represent a barrister from those chambers. It's all "people say that" and "she is considered to be" rather than "she is" and "she did".
Also, you may not be able to buy a degree from Oxford, but I notice it's not an Honours degree, nor apparently was it good enough for her to do her postgrad at Harvard Law School. Getting a pass degree from Oxford is a fine thing, but not if your brilliance is supposed to be world-leading.

Well if Charles knew her and did that in 2017, it pre-dates the Sussex wedding in 2018 which makes Clooney’s “I don’t know her” quote relevant in that he was a guest of the groom’s father, not the aspirational bride.

Amal Clooney was a human rights lawyer for years before she married Clooney. You don't simply switch from entertainment lawyer, which she never was, to representing high profile political cases at The Hague or the European Court of Human Rights simply by having a famous husband and a PR makeover.
She has been working for Doughty Street Chambers - which specialises in civil rights and human rights cases - since 2010. I remember seeing her on TV back in those days as part of Julian Assange's legal team, with the barrister Geoffrey Robertson.
She did a clerkship at the International Court of Justice, "the principal judicial organ of the United Nations", in 2004-2005. She's listed on its website as an alumna (see link).

After hosting the Sussexes at the Lake Como villa, her defining public monent to me was at Sparkles' $500,000 baby shower in NYC. On a freezing snowy winter day, mid-afternoon, they had a red carpet walk into the hotel, featuring Amal in a metallic gold strapless jumpsuit, no coat, big high heels, hair flying. They had barricades all around to keep out the crowds, like the Oscars, while New Yorkers walked by without looking over. Then Sparkles and Amal jumped on the private jet and said bye. HuMaN rIgHtS!!

What evidence is there that Meg is fucking the bodyguard? Granted, Duchess D-List is a horrid person, but it seems out of character for an experienced operator like her to do something so obvious and something which doesn't advance her up the ladder.

What if QE2 excoriated Kate for Taxi pics- especially during her break with Wills- and this is some special trauma for Harry? And he deeply overreacted to taxi pics leaking? It's very low class for his ilk...
But really, I think they were staying at some godawful oligarch's place and were terrified of being caught.
Or worse, Ellen's.

"Can you even imagine Will and Kate entering an event through Hertz Rental Car??" - R485, I can't imagine any celebrity or public figure doing that. Who exactly is managing them? Do they have agents, stylists, anyone looking out specifically for them or advising them? All they have is a PR agency, which doesn't seem to be doing much. If they had professionals around them, then they wouldn't end up in such a mess.
Part of the problem is that they aren't anything, apart from two people who've decided they're going to be public figures who do "things". But they don't belong to anything and they haven't actually achieved anything. They're not writers (not real writers), actors, influencers with brand endorsements, models, activists or anything, so there is no one around, no structure to advise and guide them.

Harry's suit looks ridiculous. The trousers are too short and tight and the shoes look too big and shiny. He's gone from wearing the finest handmade bespoke suits that could be made to looking like a teenager who has to go to a family wedding and has cobbled something resembling a suit from various items at the back of his wardrobe.

They like the idea that they are so important that they have to hide from the press and take extraordinary measures to do so. There are many people more important than Harry and Meaghan who live in or travel to NYC who accept that the press knows where they are and don’t do this type of ridiculous game.

Meghan might be in charge of their PR, but that stupid statement was all Harry and his paranoia. If anything, Meghan probably made him add the qualifiers--"near" catastrophic and "near" collisions. Because Meghan "over a lunch of chicken tacos" Markle understands the value of insinuation while still maintaining plausible deniability. Harry "it was the paps NOT the speeding that killed my mother," though, is all hyperbole all the time.

Despite all the purchased awards, the humanitarian angle was always the wrong play for them. He lacks the drive to do anything. She doesn't really care about people unless they can advance her in some way. Plus she lacks anything resembling warmth or charm, and isn't a good enough actress to fake it for very long. They should have figured something to merch and left it at that. However, a Real Housewives franchise would have been perfect for her, but Meghan being Meghan, would think it beneath her.
by Anonymous | reply 511 | May 20, 2023 10:46 PM |
r508 Well, to be fair, all the hotel said was that they "keep a room aside" for him. That's not quite the same thing as him having a separate residence or "retreat". Maybe they have fights, which wouldn't be that weird, or maybe he wants to do drugs but not around the kids. Apparently he plays a lot of video games, so maybe she turfs him out on nights he wants to stay up playing. Who knows.

Also, if he sneaks off to spend odd nights in a hotel, does he take his security with him? Surely the hotel would need to set aside two rooms? She's nothing but chemically straightened hair with shitty extensions, botched nose job, cheek implants, slight underbite, small saggy tits, long rectangular body, no ass, long chicken legs and big funky feet.
The reason almost none of her clothes fit is because she can't afford custom made clothing. Even if she could it would be impossible to return for a refund and very difficult to sell since it would be tailored to her exact measurements (or lack thereof).
by Anonymous | reply 545 | May 21, 2023 8:18 AM |
This may sound a bit snobby, r545, but the other reason she always looks so trashy in what are supposedly expensive clothes is because she is trashy. She is not sophisticated or elegant and has no social graces. This is partly also why she couldn't fit into the royal family, because she couldn't understand the values of decorum, etiquette and grace and how they play a great role in making someone look presentable, elegant and charismatic.
This lack of sophistication isn't because she's a normal person from a modest background like the rest of us - she went to an all-girls private school where she should have picked up on some of these values and behaviours. But, for some reason, she didn't. A lot of celebrities from poorer backgrounds can easily learn how to behave in public, how to dress well, how to talk to fans or journalists, how to pose for photos. Meghan's problem is that she thinks she's the hot shit and so doesn't need to listen to anyone.

Almost all of the monarchies of world have queen consorts and crown princesses that are commoners. But they learned to abide by the rules and fast. Markle is the only one who acts like a fly in the honey.

I don't have a lot of hope for Harry, he's projected all his world-class Mommy Issues onto Meghan, and if she leaves him he's going to have a complete breakdown. And if he realizes that she isn't who he thought she is, he's also going to have a complete breakdown, basically, if the marriage fails he's in for a world of trouble, and if the marriage continues he's going to keep on being a mess!
Maybe if the marriage fails his family can finally get him into intensive therapy, but he's never going to make too much progress. I read his idiotic book, and at baseline he's stupid and lacks insight into himself or anyone else, and he thinks he's already 100% fixed! He is just monumentally messed up, and I don't think he's capable of enough insight to ever make real progress. Even if he spent the next 20 years in therapy I don't think he'll ever really change, just find new ways to express his dysfunction.

The paps got pics of Meghan's Ma walking her pitbulls in LA. Ma was screaming at the paps the police were gonna arrest them. Obviously, a royal sense of entitlement is infectious. This was at a time when supposedly Ma was babysitting the rugrats. She has pitbulls. Interesting.

In this whole saga, the thing that genuinely surprises me is that there was such demand for pictures of Harry and Meghan that paps followed them after the ceremony. I get that back in 1997 there was a motivation for photographers to antagonize/chase Diana. She was the beautiful, fragile ex-wife of the future king.
But, Harry and Meghan? They are both older (and considerably less photogenic) than Diana. There already plenty of photos from the event, what’s the appeal of photos from the car ride? Middle-aged Harry scowling under his fluffy balding head. Meghan bolt upright with her usual perma-grin. Nothing new to see, really. I don’t get the demand for these photos.
I think there is more to come with this, likely some sort of pre-planned set up designed to create footage for a future documentary. The only demand for these photos - the only people that need them - that I can see is coming from inside the House of Sussex.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | May 21, 2023 7:33 PM |
This whole episode stinks to high heaven of Prince Harry trying to get his IPP status reinstated by the Home Office so he can get taxpayers to fund his security. I'm sure the whole thing was coordinated by Meghan and her bodyguard bf.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | May 21, 2023 7:39 PM |
r568 Well, that's the thing. The UK newspapers and television news are unable to use the footage from the taxi, for example, so the only places those pics could be sold would be to American and non-European media outlets. Of those, only the Americans would pay anything like good money for them, and even that is not a certainty.
In this instance, the taxi photos only became relatively "valuable" in light of the complaints made by the Sussexes about the events of the evening. They were not really valuable in and of themselves, but only became so once the complaint was made of a wild "near-catastrophic" car chase, at which point the visuals of the couple inside a random, inherently "unsafe" yellow taxi, sans seatbelts, Meghan smiling and mother asleep, become illustrative of the couple telling yet another verifiable lie.
Ironic, then, that the Sussexes "fled" the UK to "escape" the UK press, only to be "hounded" by paps trying to sell pics to the media outlets of the adopted homeland they chose as a "refuge" from the hounding media, and unable to sell pics to that of their "oppressive" homeland...

^^^^I meant to write European, not "non-European" outlets
by Anonymous | reply 571 | May 21, 2023 8:04 PM |
Just from their statement it's obvious that: a) they want media coverage when it suits them ("While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public) and, b), yes, Harry was immediately trying to use the incident, or alleged incident, as part of his legal case to get the British government to provide security for him (“Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all in involved”).
Couple that with the fact that their rep called the photos the paps took of them entering and leaving the venue "some of the most beautiful images of the evening,” then it's pretty obvious that they want the paps to photograph them and also that Harry is deliberately exaggerating the incident so he can use it in court.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | May 21, 2023 8:34 PM |
The paps will attempt to get "bad" pictures too.
For example, there are some pictures of the BRF kids sticking out their tongues. What is not shown is that the photographer will stick their tongue out at the kids in attempt to get the kids to reply in kind.
I think there are pictures (or perhaps video) of little Harry sticking his tongue while in the back seat of a car. Diana pulled him away from the window. Another of him doing the same while Diana holds him out on the BF balcony. Also similar pictures of older Harry.
There is also a similar picture of Charlotte, I think at some boat match. Kate looked down and saw her, laughed, and turned Charlotte and the pair went on their way.
So getting nasty pictures of H&M might be of value.
People who really do not want photos taken of them at sensitive events should borrow a technique that Elizabeth Taylor used when she was visiting Richard Burton's grave. She surrounded herself with people holding open umbrellas tilted to prevent anyone from actually seeing or photographing her.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | May 21, 2023 8:52 PM |

The Spectator. According to media bias check. A far right leaning publication which uses loaded words to appeal to the conservative crowd. It's become famous for its journalists who have espoused extremist views. Anti Muslim, Anti BLM, Anti trans, Anti Liberal, Anti Labour party. How surprising its used as a factual source.

R568 Diana, like Marilyn Monroe, had "IT". The cameras loved her. Megs just cant admit to herself that cameras, like the rest of anyone who knew her, doesnt like her one iota. That aura Diana had cant be learned,or bought. You have it or you dont.

F576 The Spectator is an organ of the Tory Party. The Tory Party is far to the left of the most moderate Republican. US politics are extreme. The Tories are not. The tiny UKIP party is the equivalent of the GOP.

r576 The Spectator is one of the most famous publications in the history of English language publishing. IT is the oldest continuously published periodocal in the history of the world.
It publishes everyone from Guardian writers (Julie Bindel, Will Self) to longtime BBC stalwarts (Radio4's Rod Liddle, Sam Leith) to conservatives (Douglas Murray, Boris Johnson). Everyone from Prime Ministers to social workers can be found writing for the Spectator. The link between all these contributors is that the their POV is strong and the writing is better than nearly any other periodical being published today.
You and your unnamed "media bias" source can right fuck off into a much-deserved grease fire r576. I'm not giving up my Speccie subscription for ANYTHING.

R580 I think there is something calling itself the US Spectator which is a rightwing publication. Maybe the poster is confused.
Interestingly, the Tories have more black and brown and openly gay MPs than Labour does. Labour has turned into an extreme (and anti-Semitic) party for whiny white men. Thank you Ed Miliband and Jeremy Corbyn. Harold Wilson must be spinning in his grave.
Pity the Lib Dems have gone extinct.

Why can’t UK newspapers/television use pap footage from the taxi per r570?

r581 The poster is certainly confused - or perhaps just intinctively bigoted. It is certainly intellectually limited - that is beyond doubt.
And very much agreed with the rest of your comment as well. Well said.

R574, Ashley Hansen, described by the NYT as "a representative of the couple", told the NYT that “They were some of the most beautiful images of the evening” and a few minutes later sent some of the photos to the NYT by text message:

Some more on Ashley Hansen, Meghan and Harry's "global press secretary".
[quote]Prior to working with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as their global press secretary, Ashley Momtaheni Hansen was the Vice President of Global Communications and Media Relations at the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.
[quote]Her resume also includes positions at United Talent Agency, Annapurna Pictures and Good Morning America after starting her career at Warner Bros.
[quote]It was in May 2022 when news first broke that Hansen would take on the role of leading global communications for Meghan and Harry’s foundation Archewell before Miranda Barbot joined the communications team as director in December of last year.

Ashley Momtaheni Hansen was there that night. Where did she stay? A hotel? Or with the Harkles at their “friend”’s home? Where did Doria sleep? Surely the bodyguard/security was given a floor plan of their accommodations so they could make sure the liars were safe and secure. Gloria Steinem has a brownstone with a garden. Those buildings have multiple points of entry and access. How is that safer than a hotel that has security already, with cameras and guarded entrances?
by Anonymous | reply 587 | May 21, 2023 9:45 PM |
Did she intern with John Barron?
by Anonymous | reply 588 | May 21, 2023 9:47 PM |
r587 It's not safer. It's just cheaper.
by Anonymous | reply 589 | May 21, 2023 9:47 PM |
Just to add to r585, Ashley Hansen, the Harkles' rep, condemned the paps, and then immediately praised the photos they took and sent them to at least one newspaper that we know of (the NYT), no doubt in the hope that they would publish the pap photos!
Good question, r587: where did Ashley stay, where did Doria stay, just how prepared were the Harkles' security people, why didn't they just take the easiest option of booking a couple of suites in a hotel (for which they would have been entitled to some reimbursement from Women of Vision and to tax credits) for them and their team?

Frau is confused about an event n tbe US affecting a court case in the UK. Do you understand they are different jurisdictions/legal systens/countries?
by Anonymous | reply 591 | May 21, 2023 10:01 PM |
They are different jurisdictions but Harry was counting on a giant media uproar (in his favor) would influence the judge. Didn't work out.

I don't place any credence in body language readings of snapshots or gifs, but the clip at R558 really does look like she was pissed that mom was daring to ask a question when she was about to speak.
[quote] Meghan doesn't generate the kind of press that most designers want to be associated with.
If high-end designers are using Hayley Bieber, various Kardashians and ugly nepo brats, there's no reason not to use MM. She'd guarantee PR.

What's the possibility that Harry and Meghan were staying at Soho House in NYC? Meghan's friend Markus Anderson who works for Soho House and whom she'd been hiking with just a few days before, was at the Women of Vision event, as was her long-term friend Genevieve Hillis and her agent/publicist Jill Smoller.
They did, in fact, have a whole team of reps and friends there with them, and even then it ended in a publicity disaster for them. Meghan's reps and friends, that is - Harry is all on his own out there and has no one really from his own "team" to look out for him.
There's something very sleazy about this group that's around them, and they're certainly not helping them. Meghan's beaming team in this photo just underlines how the "award" was the result of a backroom deal.
