This is an interesting, detailed story on Shitler's angling for a way to intimidate the Georgia electors, contemporary with his famous phone call with the GA SOS (to "find" him the votes he needed to win there, over Biden), and his fumbling steps to claim the election was rigged, just 3 days prior to the riot he launched.

R31 "Biden should have gone with Sally Yates."
Yates would have been great. I think the problem, however, was the Dems didn't have a big enough majority to guarantee she'd be voted in. Too many Republican senators were scared of their crimes being revealed, so Biden had to pick the closest to a surest thing so indictments could start as soon as possible. (which of course didn't happen anyway).

Check out Sarah Kendzior's thread on Merrick Garland... some pretty disturbing stuff.
Some hightlights:
"Let's review what Garland has done as AG:
1) Defended Trump in a personal lawsuit against E Jean Carroll, a woman who Trump raped
2) Defended Trump and Barr when they ordered the beating and gassing of protesters in Lafayette Square
3) Covered up Barr’s obstruction of the Mueller probe and refused to release the full OLC memo that Barr used as a pretext for his lies
4) Defended DOJ's spying on Washington Post, CNN, and other media outlets for Trump
5) Defended Don McGahn against congressional Dems' subpoenas. This is ominous as it speaks to the current subpoena crisis
6) Refuses to prosecute any of the high level 1/6 operatives
7) Appealed ruling Dems won seeking to expose corruption at Trump Hotel
8) Refused to follow up on a House investigation of Bill Barr and Wilbur Ross
9) Wants to implement a 50 year delay on when courts can consider releasing materials from federal grand juries. This would mean we won't get Trump admin court docs until 2069.

Garland continued with a special prosecutor, Durham, focusing now on something that may be on his long abandoned laptop. Did he miss declaring something on his tax returns?
Yet, Garland can’t bother to investigate and indict a former President and his top cronies for attempting a coup d’etat whereby there were casualties, numerous injuries, destruction, threats, and attempting to physically disrupt a constitutionally defined electoral process in Congress.
Garland is stalling and trying to run out the clock. Why was Christopher Wray acting clueless about 1/06? What Trump top operatives has he investigated since? What’s in Ginni’s file? A cocktail party invitation?

I’m stealing this thread from One-term Biden thread.
I also wonder why we never got to see the un-redacted version of the Meuller Report?
Another cover-up? Seems a lot of those in Gorelick’s orbit can get away with with anything. I wonder why?
I’m betting that if she her tentacles around Biden and Gorelick, that Trumpey’s going to walk away from it all and we will forget all about it. I won’t, so we need to work and get away from these treasonous whores.

After watching that Biden/Kimmel interview, I’ve done some reasearch and learned a few enlightening and revelatory things. Yes, we that Biden and Merrick Garland are “Insttutionalists”, however I found the oddest link between Merrick Garland and corporate lawyer, Jamie Gorsuch.
If you dig a little deeper, you’ll find that Gorelick is Jared Kushner’s personal lawyer. Like Kushner, Garland’s friendship with Gorelick goes back decades and he has the utmost respect for her. Yet, her name is imbedded into every scandal and cover-up beginning from 9-11. Her skill set seems to involve high-level corruption in our federal government.
Who is she exactly and could she have an influence on Merrick Garland’s passive approach to funding out the clock for Trump et al.
Help me out, DLs.

The fact that Gorelick was Jared Kushner’s personal lawyer is the most goading! I mean how does this son of a crook get permission to read top-secret US documents when he is nothing but a recipient of nepotism?
If we, the US, do not save our system of law and order (due to greed), than we truly do not deserve to be a nation. Let this cabal of greedy, ammoral people (most having Jewish ties) destroy it. Then we’ll see how well they will fare in, say Russia or Germany. Let’s see how they can work around a country that uses common sense as it’s means to deliver Justice and not a Constitution that paralyzes us.

Because Biden is a week old fool. He or his supreme fuck up of a son probably have something to hide. If he wanted trump prosecuted, he'd have already been charged.
9/11 was the same way. They had the hearings and nothing happened. Those hearings were the first time I had ever heard of Gorelik (sp?). Why would she take on kushner for a client? can't she get any other clients? There is more too that. And a few of Obama's former advisors are starting to bash Biden lately. There's more to this. R154 Notice that all 4 serious presidential crimes mentioned occurred under Republican presidents. The only Democrat with any legal concern was Bill Clinton, which was for lying about a blow-job.
When does the escalation stop? If Trump gets away with his crimes, which were the most serious over them all, and he either challenges a future election or conducts a successful coup, then US democracy is basically over. It will be too late then because those who did not have the courage to bring those who commit crimes to justice.
Regardless of what some talking heads said about Ford pardoning Nixon was good for the country, it was not. By any means. It very likely gave permission for future crimes to be conducted by subsequent presidents. I was beyond furious when the Kennedy Profile in Courage Award was given to Gerard Ford in 2001. To me that completely invalidated the significance of the award itself.

As much as I revered him as President, in retrospect, Obama fucked up. Trying too hard to come off non-partisan, he played everything way too safe and blew what could have been some great opportunities. After everything Mitch McConnell said and did throughout his presidency, Obama should known better by the end and taken some chances when he had nothing left to lose. For example, he chose Republican Garland thinking he was centrist and would pass thru to satisfy everyone. Obama should have just chosen Ketanji Jackson. Sure. Fox would have had a field day criticizing the black President for choosing his own race - but in response - how many white guys have appointed white guys? And it would have made the Repubs look far more racist than the already were. And we wouldn't have the Merrick Garland problem we have now!
by Anonymous | reply 165 | June 19, 2022 7:38 AM |
And instead of being a lame duck president, (something Trump refused to do), Obama should have fired Comey for what he did to Hillary. He was totally justified. Especially knowing that Trump was being investigated by the FBI when the rest of us did not. Then he could have appointed a Democrat. before Trump officially took over. And if Trump or anyone complained, tough shit! McConnell refused to come out with Obama in a partisan way to inform us the extant that Putin involved himself with out voting systems. Why? Because they all assumed Hillary would win, (which she fucking did!) and it would be a non-issue. But Trump "won". So Obama should have given McConnell a big fuck you and spoken up.
The only reason the Dems didn't speak up and give warning was because they were trying to be nice. And ever since we've all been paying the fucking price!

Oh, and another thing. All this bullshit about Gerald Ford pardoning Richard Nixon, and how it was for the good of the country. So we're supposed to do the same thing now, and not charge Trump for the good of the country? There's one big difference I haven't seen anyone point out yet. Here it is:
Say what you want about Nixon. At least he did the right thing at the very end. No, I'm not talking about his resignation speech. I'm talking about what he did after. He went away! He disappeared to his home in Santa Barbara and we barely ever heard from him again. Even Dick Cheney had the decency to disappear.
TRUMP WON'T FUCKING GO AWAY! He continues to commit crime after crime after crime. Why is that fucking piece of shit FAT ORANGE CUNT still giving rallies? and what is he saying? I'm sorry for all the damage I did? NO - he's urging his followers to continue to commit crimes. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK???? I still can't wrap my head around that this is even possible and still happening in real time. TRUMP MUST BE STOPPED. More people are gonna die. We fucking know that!!!!!!

[quote] Fox News soon picked up the blog post. The news outlet interviewed Asra Nomani, a conservative education advocate, who claimed that Panorama has ties to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. "Merrick Garland has declared a war on parents," Nomani tweeted on Tuesday. By Thursday afternoon, several Republican members of Congress had chimed in on Twitter, calling for an investigation into the alleged conflict of interest with the attorney general. "The AG’s son-in-law's company makes millions selling CRT & other PC programs to our schools while the AG calls parents who question school boards, domestic terrorists. Conflict of interest, anyone? I'm joining several of my colleagues to investigate," Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.) tweeted on Thursday. Reps. Ken Buck (R-CO), Ronny Jackson (R-TX), and Jim Banks (R-IN) also called for Garland to be investigated.
The right-wing conspiracy theory pertaining to Garland’s son-in-law and CRT was shown to lack substance last October. The below link notes the perpetuators of the flawed assertion.

I know the wheels of justice turn slowly and that there all sorts of criteria and components required for a successful prosecution/conviction but I am super tired of articles like this from the NYT (tried gifting it to you all at the link, but DL rejected it) where they keep trying to move the goal posts and promote the supremacy of Trump's mental state over his obvious criminal activity and flouting of the law. I mean, a blind man on Pluto could see that Trump is guilty and this nonsense of "...but did he BELIEVE he won....did he BELIEVE there was actually fraud..." What a nonsense. Of course he knew he lost, that's already been established. Just because yet another unethical lawyer is trying to lay the ground work for a defense by publishing a 12-page response to the hearings, 18 months AFTER THE FACT does not negate the obvious intentions behind his actions.
I'm so sick of this. If Trump isn't prosecuted, there will never be a rule of law again. There will just be more of the "white establishment can commit any criminal acts they want" and "we'll prosecute minorities to continue to make them look bad". Sick of it.

[QUOTE] WTF has happened to this thread? We’ve finally been overrun by whacko trolls. Fuck, we had a good run.
Hi! Let me try and rectify the current troll infestation with some real tea.
So, my source shared some news with me today after we hung out:
As has been already reported in this thread, here is the lineup of witnesses for the next hearing:
Rusty Bowers Brad Raffensberger Gabriel Sterling Wanda Mosley
It will be a “Fucking with the Georgia Votes and Electors Day” presentation.
This is new: Judge Luttig helped his daughter move the day before his committee appearance and got a bad sunburn. That’s why he was so red-faced and tired sounding during some of his testimony presentation.
Also, the day they cancelled last week was, quite literally, because they were all fucking tired. They didn’t realize how exhausting it would be to have three hearings in one week. So they canceled the Thursday hearing. It’s as simple as that.
For all who are worried that Trump will not be prosecuted, my friend (who is very connected and “in the room”) says that he will be. But get ready for bunches of investigations and committees if the GOP takes over the House. One of the first things they’re going to go after is Pelosi for supposedly leaving the Capitol “under defended.” It will be the first thing they do.

Also, his “presentation” was not vetted so no one had any idea he was going to sound so halting and awkward during some of his testimony. He was obviously choosing this words very carefully because he knew the importance of them, but the entire staff were immediately texting each other saying “WTF? Why does he sound like that??”

The Biden and Merrick Garland bashing poster is obviously a Fox News loving plant, or a Russian here to sow Dem-on-Dem hate, he's so predictable!
Firstly, NO ONE here has ANY idea what the DOJ is doing or not, but somehow you think the DOJ is going to publicly announce everything it is doing vis a vis Trump and Jan. 6th, which is comical. Oh, then I remembered what kind of tards post here who can't explain the difference between the House and Senate, nor really any function of government, but can rattle off ten federal agencies and announce they are run by fools and incompetents without naming any! Typical.
By the way, the President lacks the power to directly fire Louis Dejoy, but as of about ten days ago got two of his appointees approved for the Postal Service. They will likely get the job done. All of this is information you can read online before you lose your minds bitching about it here!

I would love to give Garland the benefit of the doubt…and some time to get it right. However, their voters may not have as much patience and with the midterms coming up in 5 months - life being where it is now - there’s bound to be some backlash. One simply can sense the anger out there these days, with no criminal penalties brought to bear on Trump and his minions.
It’s simple really.

Many on this thread like to dismiss Seth Abramson, but he's been right about a lot of shit that came out. Check out his latest:
Today the House January 6 Committee made the most direct appeal it’s ever made to a prospective witness: Rep. Cheney (R-WY) called for former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone to agree to testify live. I know why and explain it here.
1/ Two things to note before I offer this narrative—a sequence of events uncovered in 16 months of research. First, let’s be clear: there are *many* things Cipollone can testify to; there’s a reason he repeatedly threatened to resign. Cipollone saw a *lot* of misconduct.
2/ But one thing in *particular* Cipollone saw hasn’t yet been testified to in any way before the House January 6 Committee— A 3-HOUR LATE 2020 MEETING THAT BEGAN IN THE OVAL OFFICE. Many journalists and historians deem it THE CRAZIEST MEETING EVER TO OCCUR IN THE OVAL OFFICE.

I already started a new thread on how…
The Supremes are actually LEGISLATING from the Bench. And they are succeeding because we are so focused on Jan. 6. They are also mulling about gutting the EPA when we know these CON Supremes themselves may be personally enriching themselves. If Garland is going to sit on his hands, we will no longer have a society, at least not the one we knew before. This is what happens when you do not hold criminals accountable for anything.

It never existed. Not arguing for or against religion but the Constitution only directed there be “𝑛𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑇𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑠 𝑎 𝑄𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑂𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑟 𝑝𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑐 𝑇𝑟𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑈𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠.”
Put another way you can't forbid a Catholic from an office or duty a Protestant would be permitted to hold and so forth. Freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
The rest was pulled from thin air by Supreme Court justices sitting in a body you approach through a bronze door showing the Ten Commandments and sculpture of Moses with the tablets overlooking the building.
And then opens with a prayer:
The Honorable, the Chief Justice and the Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States. Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! All persons having business before the Honorable, the Supreme Court of the United States, are admonished to draw near and give their attention, for the Court is now sitting. God save the United States and this Honorable Court.

R271. Former Supreme Courts dating back from nearly a century did certainly not pull the separation Church and State out of thin air. It’s called Stare Decisis, it’s called precedent, which has been honored through generations of the Supreme Court. These current bastards on the SC are tossing out all precedents that they said under oath they would NOT do. They are criminals themselves (perjurers) that should be arrested and tried.
Imagine we possibly have hypocrites/criminals and bigots and white supremacists seated on our Supreme Court!

Both parties don’t want migration matters resolved. It is a wedge issue for campaigning and fundraising. Corporate America wants the status quo; the steady influx of low-skilled workers that get payed less, but also are consumers.

Apparently the Republicans in Congress who had no direct role in promoting the insurrection, are privately urging the January 6 committee to continue with their findings, while publicly being dismissive or critical of the committee’s work. They want Trump sidelined from running for President again, but fear Trump and his supporters. These Republicans are spineless.

Garland is not in a no-win situation. As the AG he is in a position of responsibility to investigate the evidence of crimes and file charges as necessary regardless of those involved. If he doesn't want to prosecuture indivduals and groups that are involved in insurrection and sedition, he needs to step down and allow a new AG to do the job he doesn't have the balls to do.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | July 1, 2022 3:48 PM |
No, r387, there is no doubt in my mind it happened. The story would be too outlandish and easily disprovable to make up out of whole cloth. Plus, I don’t believe Cassidy would have any reason to make it up.
What I meant was, I have no frame of reference on that picture or where I’m supposed to be looking to see what I’m looking at. That’s why I said I can’t make heads or tails of it.
And the thing about him not grabbing the steering wheel was a joke about his little geisha girl hands.

What amazing entertainment in Mar-a-Lago last night. In the full, grand dining room, the lights were dimmed, the spotlight was turned-on, and sashaying to the stage was Miss Lindzebelle. She was wearing a yellow-print antebellum style hoop skirt, a yellow sun hat with two long strands of velvet, and a matching floral-printed wrap. The octogenarian club members and mega-donors stood, whistled, and vigorously applauded. Kimberly and Kellyanne smiled but were seething with envy. Junior and Eric had their right hands under the table touching no-no parts. Melania was ignoring it all while playing with her iPhone. Sean was looking stunned.
Enters The Donald to wild applause. He goes on stage, grabs Miss Lindzebelle's hand, and the crooner in him could not resist. The Donald grabs the mic and commences singing as the band plays:
Hello, Lindzey
Well, hello, Lindzey
It's so nice to have you back where you belong
You're lookin' swell, Lindzey
I can tell, Lindzey
You're still glowin', you're still crowin'
You're still goin' strong
We feel the room swayin'
While the band's playin'
One of your old favorite songs from way back when
So, take her wrap, fellas
Find her an empty lap, fellas
Lindzey'll never go away again
Hello, Lindzey
Well, hello, Lindzey

A few are just brazenly coming out and saying it, but pay attention to the low-level Republicans and how often they work the word "republic" into their every statement. You pretty much NEVER hear them use the word "democracy" anymore. This is how they're going to justify minority, autocratic rule.

[quote] Some freepers want to go back to letting state legislatures pick Senators instead of having them be elected by the voters
Do they also want to go back to the voters electing congressional reps at-large? The Constitution says nothing about congressional districts, and originally each state's allotted number of reps were selected in state-wide elections, as we do for the Senate now. It wasn’t until 1842 that Congress created the requirement for single-member districts.

A republic is a democracy that governs through elected officials and contains laws that protect basic rights (especially for minorities) as opposed to having all citizens just vote on every issue.

That's also a description of almost all monarchies in the world, r421. Did you know, they have elections and legal rights in Sweden?
by Anonymous | reply 424 | July 4, 2022 4:22 AM |
There are some differences between a republican system and a democratic system. For example, in a republican system, rights are defined by a constitution or Bill of Rights, while in a democratic system the voting majority can add/take away rights. In a republic power is held by the individual, whereas in a democracy it's held by the population as a whole. That's the distinction that those who say the US is a republic and not a democracy are claiming. It's very theoretical and little to do with how politics works in the real world (it probably worked in ancient times for the differences between Athenian democracy and the Roman Republic) but it's good to understand this distinction in order to understand what some Republicans are trying to do, rather than pretend there is no difference and be wrongfooted when they start pushing this line (e.g the constitution has no reference to abortion and, as the US is a republic not a democracy, votes cannot override the constitution).
by Anonymous | reply 425 | July 4, 2022 4:38 AM |
Another example of the difference between a republic and a democracy is gun rights. The right to own and bear arms is guaranteed by the constitution, hence a democratic vote to ban gun ownership, even if that vote represents a majority of the electorate, cannot override the republican right to own a gun.
by Anonymous | reply 426 | July 4, 2022 4:43 AM |

Yes r428, I'm one poster. I'm not sure why you think I'm an asshole, I'm just explaining what those who say there's a distinction between a republic and a democracy mean. I'm not claiming Republicans in the US are right or that they have a point. Don't you want to know what they mean? In that case you should also block r421 and call her an asshole too, because she was trying to explain what they mean, even though she got it wrong.
I'm not even American - nor am I from a republic, even though it's most definitely a democracy - but that probably enables me to look at the situation in the US a little more clearly.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | July 4, 2022 9:07 AM |
Have you ever had one of those dreams where anxiety from an un-resolvable contradiction shocks you into realizing that you are sleeping? Smerdy/R424 reminds me of the time as a young child (maybe 6 or 7) I experienced that feeling while awake. A neighbor friend mentioned the queen of England and I was so confused because I thought Great Britain was a democracy that I spent the next two hours at her house thinking there was a rupture in the space-time continuum rather than enjoying whatever game we were playing. Luckily when I got home my mother and the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica explained the concept of a constitutional monarchy to me.
Speaking of constitutions, any part of the US constitution can be overturned by voting. Its a very specific and labor intensive process, but the second amendment is not inherently more immune than the eighteenth.
My guess on why the GOP is pushing this mess is:
1) The names of the parties 2) They think it will be easier to get people to accept fascism if they convince people that our republic is inherently undemocratic. 3) Trump loves Mussolini, founder of the fascist republican party

Sweden must be hated in the US by both sides of your very polarised and twisted political system: by the Republicans for not being a republic (although apparently in the Republican view it's a socialist shithole), and by the Democrats for not mutilating and sterilising children.

They aren’t going to announce they’re doing this or that. IF they are doing something big it will come out all at one time in a freaking Category 5 hurricane. No one is defending Garland. None of us know what they are or aren’t doing until we do. Investigating insurrection, treason, sedition requires a bit of stealth and likely undercover operations. And yes, they must get this right. I've written this before, I'll do so again. As much as I loved Obama, in retrospect, he was a pussy for nominating Merrick Garland for SCOTUS just to appease McConnell. With nothing to lose, he should have just gone ahead and nominated Ketanji Brown or someone like her. And then we could have watched the Republicans accused of blatant racism when they objected. Biden wouldn't have felt it necessary to appoint Garland AG and we might not be in this mess.
by Anonymous | reply 475 | July 5, 2022 8:48 PM |
But, again, R475, the “mess” is what exactly? That indictments haven’t come down yet?
by Anonymous | reply 476 | July 5, 2022 9:13 PM |
Three things in life that are for certain:
1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Merrick Garland won't do shit.
by Anonymous | reply 477 | July 5, 2022 10:01 PM |
Yes, Barr is to blame. Totally. Who says there won’t be indictments from the Mueller report? DOJ certainly isn’t going to crow they are looking at it again. Let them think we’ve moved on.
If, and it is an if, they decide to go after all the bad players in this hellish drama, it will come in an avalanche like we’ve never seen.
by Anonymous | reply 478 | July 5, 2022 10:12 PM |
Haven't the statutes of limitations tolled on the Mueller Report's Obstructions of Justice?
by Anonymous | reply 479 | July 5, 2022 10:16 PM |
I guess I just don't understand why there hasn't been a slow wave of lower level indictments. It's getting to the point that they'll either wait too long and lose the House and possibly lose the Senate and then, game over. Or, they'll do it right before the election and it will all be covered by the fucking media as electioneering. These committee hearings should have been taking place starting earlier this year, at the latest. The indictments should be going out now, not the fucking hearings just reaching their high point.
The timing, as usual, seems way off. The Dems keep doing this. It's like they are politically tonedeaf and allergic to the ability to use the media to their own ends. Maybe they should just start doing the exact opposite of everything the criminal fucking Repugs do. At least that would be a start.
by Anonymous | reply 480 | July 5, 2022 10:24 PM |
R480 How can you rush indictments? We have no idea what they’re doing. You can’t rush an investigation into insurrection, treason, and sedition. We’d all love them to nail them last year but that’s not how things work. They aren’t holding back to piss you off.
by Anonymous | reply 481 | July 5, 2022 10:27 PM |
Well, r480, next time this happens we'll do it *your* way.
by Anonymous | reply 482 | July 5, 2022 10:30 PM |
DOJ is non political. They aren’t D or R. Or they’re not supposed to be. They aren’t going to coordinate with Ds.
Also, DOJ is still stacked with Trumpers. We all forget that. If they act in a partisan way, they could slow things down considerably.
by Anonymous | reply 483 | July 5, 2022 10:33 PM |
R481, I maintain that they have timed this wrong. They don't need to rush anything. They had the evidence against a lot of these assholes last year. Some of them are getting re-elected while DoJ knows they are criminals and has the evidence. Plus, the indictments, and the deals that inevitably go with those indictments, would have pushed some of the mid-level, and perhaps a few of the higher-level, bad actors to come forward.
You, and R482, can think whatever you want but I don't see you countering any of my actual points.
by Anonymous | reply 484 | July 5, 2022 10:33 PM |
R483, it is not partisan to follow the law. In fact, they are acting politically by not indicting when they have the evidence. It doesn't matter if the DoJ is supposed to be non-partisan when we know what's going to happen as soon as the criminal Repugs take over the House and, maybe, Senate.
by Anonymous | reply 485 | July 5, 2022 10:36 PM |
You seem to be willfully ignorant about how things work, r484.
by Anonymous | reply 486 | July 5, 2022 10:36 PM |
R485 You have no idea if they’re gathering even more evidence on individuals. Once you indict they lawyer up and the process is completely different. You just don’t understand how things work at DOJ.
by Anonymous | reply 487 | July 5, 2022 10:39 PM |
Like I said, r487/FCI, willfully ignorant.
by Anonymous | reply 488 | July 5, 2022 10:41 PM |
FCI, sorry, but you're just being speculative. The reality remains that there have been no indictments, other than the neanderthal illiterates, and we are five months from a country changing election. They waited too long. We'll see who is right.
by Anonymous | reply 489 | July 5, 2022 10:43 PM |
r489 = broken record
by Anonymous | reply 490 | July 5, 2022 10:44 PM |
I’m curious about one thing: Why hasn’t Matt Gaetz been indicted yet? I know they were using that friend of his who’s also culpable as an informant, trying to get more information from him. But that has really seem slow-walked for some reason.
by Anonymous | reply 491 | July 5, 2022 10:45 PM |
How is the DOJ going to change in five months, r489?
by Anonymous | reply 492 | July 5, 2022 10:45 PM |
R491 Good question. Are they using Gaetz to catch a bigger fish?
by Anonymous | reply 493 | July 5, 2022 10:47 PM |
R494 Oh yes!
by Anonymous | reply 495 | July 5, 2022 10:50 PM |
What are you talking about, R492? My point is that they have already waited too long. It is too close to elections for a huge wave of indictments. Not legally, but how it will be reported by the corporate media with all the Repug experts they will invite to give their side, and how it will affect the election. They should have been indicting right now. We all know they will indict people but then the story stalls in our glacially slow system. They're probably hoping for the height of any trials or flips to come closer to 2024's election cycle. Like I said, we'll see.
Again, R493, while I like what you usually share here, you are still just speculating. We live in a country where there are almost never consequences for rich, powerful men. That will remain true here.
by Anonymous | reply 496 | July 5, 2022 10:52 PM |
R494/R495, now you're just in fantasy land. If you think that, or anything close to that is going to happen, you're smoking some good shit.
by Anonymous | reply 497 | July 5, 2022 10:53 PM |
Well, out of left field, Gaetz asked for a 1/6 pardon. I didn't get that it was a pardon for his Florida teenager fucking.

Which means our Democracy is officially over, r496. That's what Garland is looking at and having to negotiate. Jesus, r497, where did I state that was going to actually happen?
by Anonymous | reply 499 | July 5, 2022 10:58 PM |
Our democracy is likely over. We can recover it but it won’t be easy. When you have so much money in the hands of so few it is not mathematically sustainable and is a direct threat to every facet of our lives. Billionaires are gobbling up all kinds of media, using their dark money to sow division, chaos, push conspiracy theories, push crazy candidates, create narratives, shut down dissent and that’s just scratching the surface.

It took years to indict Jerry Sandusky. And Kevin Spacey. But they still got indicted.

Miss Lindsey hasn't been on Twitter today and no Fox appearances for the evening.
Wonder why?

A bit unkempt, R504, but positively svelte by Senator standards
by Anonymous | reply 505 | July 6, 2022 1:27 AM |
I don't believe Garland will direct the DOJ to file charges on Trump regardless of how much evidence of crimes they find. They are just going through the motions. Between 2022 and 2024 our democracy will be effectively over

by Anonymous | reply 509 | July 6, 2022 2:30 AM |
Who is FCI? Is he/she being paid to defend Garland and the DOJ? Formerly worked there or has some personal investment towards Garland or the DOJ? Why do you insist that things have always worked this way and we should feel satisfied that this screwed up tradition remains? We are on the precipice of losing our democracy, however you feel nothing else can or should be done and this under the radar workings is for some higher purpose. We should be patient and wait interminably as we are victimized everyday by their ineptitude.

Feinstein, Grassley, and Collins, assisting Miz Lindz to her fainting couch as she was overcome with the vapors, shows she does have genuine friends. And Marsha fetching the smelling salts for her while the two Johnsons vigorously fanned the lady was quite remarkable, Nope, the cause of Miss Lindz feeling poorly was not heat exhaustion aboard Manchin's houseboat.
The Mango Con Man didn't even call from Florida to ask how she was doing.
