I saw DiCaprio in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood last night, and I don't get his appeal....at all. He was good up until Titanic...then afterward, it was downward and even his acting got campier, acting over the top crazy. Ever since The Beach (when he was still hot!), he's mugged his way through his performances. If you consider that "great acting", you must be mildly autistic (as in, unable to read feelings when espressed SUBTLY as in real humans).

Also, all his characters have the same mannerisms, facial expressions and speech patterns. Pressed voice when stressed? Check. Clenched jaw? Check. Squinty eyes and "dangerous" cat-like smirk? Check. Aggressively running hand through hair after a fit of rage? Check. If you watch several of his films in a row, it's very noticeable. And again, it started with The Beach. Before that, he wasn't that predictable.

To me, post-Titanic Leo is only palatable to mildly enjoyable in comedic rules. I did like him in Catch Me if You Can because it was a funny role, and he was still pretty cute. I thought he was believable in Wolf of Wallstreet - again, it was a funny role, and he probably pretty much played himself.

In dramatic roles, he makes me cringe.

I should have mentioned that I've watched all of Leo's films with the exception of Body of Lies and Don't Look Up. I even watched Don's Plum (boring pointless film, but great performance by Leo) and The Foot Shooting Party (weird film, unable to rate his performance because I'm not sure if it was supposed to be a drama or a black comedy).

Leo is a talented actor and I respect his career a lot. To go from Growing Pains to the performance he gave in Django Unchained is amazing. No matter how much people hate on him for his personal life or his physical appearance, I will always enjoy his work and look forward to his latest movies.
