MSNBC - Part 32

As per usual, the other thread is already paywalled but only half full.

Oh, well.

Let's try this again...

Web Administrator, please paywall this thread.

Like the last one.

Thank you.

I think that Lawrence has decided that if Rachel is getting 30 MIL, that she is going to do half his show for him.

by Anonymousreply 3October 19, 2021 1:12 PM

What does Phil give out to the trick or treaters? I bet he’s the full size candy bar type of guy.

by Anonymousreply 4October 19, 2021 1:18 PM

Who cares about Phil, I want to know what Claire McCaskill gives out. She is the only home I would eat a home baked cupcake from.

by Anonymousreply 5October 19, 2021 1:23 PM

[quote] I want to know what Claire McCaskill gives out. She is the only home I would eat a home baked cupcake from.

Claire is a multi millionaire, I am sure she lives in a gated community that wouldn't allow your type in.

Joy's fall look is FABU!

by Anonymousreply 8October 19, 2021 9:32 PM

Honk!.

by Anonymousreply 9October 19, 2021 11:37 PM

On the Part 31 thread, R270 asks whether that thread is really paywalled and says it's "ridiculous" after only 269 posts.

I'm a non-subscriber and I see at the bottom of Part 31 a blue banner that says: "Only subscribers can post to this thread. Click Here to update your subscription information." I assume that subscribers like R270 don't see that banner.

As for why threads get paywalled when they're nowhere near being full, I think it's DL's way of "encouraging" people to subscribe, or else they won't be able to post on popular threads.

by Anonymousreply 10October 19, 2021 11:40 PM

Watching Liz Cheney's opening statement at the top of the Select Committee's contempt vote, did anyone else half-expect her to pull a Kendall Roy? (I'm joking of course.)

Does anyone else enjoy watching Juanita Toliver? Love her subtle eyebrow raises and nuanced head tilts when one of the other commentators says something compelling.

by Anonymousreply 16October 20, 2021 5:03 AM

R16, she reminds me of those huge red animated mouths 👄 that dance around on-screen at the movie theater before Coming Attractions. Which used to be highly disconcerting. But I like her energy.

by Anonymousreply 17October 20, 2021 5:22 AM

Juanita looks like she uses a very subtle perfecting filter.

Personally, I like her.

by Anonymousreply 18October 20, 2021 12:50 PM

Juanita Tolliver deserves her own thread!

I love her interchanges with Ari which always have a sexual subtext to them. Where does she live, what city? Is she married, partnered? That white room she zooms from looks like a mid-century banquet hall. I'm yearning for her to appear in the TV studio to get a fuller picture of her.

by Anonymousreply 19October 20, 2021 12:55 PM

Love Juanita. She is striking and smart. Her hair and makeup is always fantastic and every other female talking head could take note, especially Joy Reid. As noted above, she gives great facial expressions when she is in her talking head box just listening to the other panelists.

She's really into yoga on her Instagram. Check out this move. She's got it ALL going on.

What gets a thread paywalled is too many posts by a few posters, especially non-subscribers. If you want a thread to remain open stop posting stupid, pointless shit.

by Anonymousreply 22October 20, 2021 4:53 PM

Another for Team Juanita - I've often wondered why she does not get more attention here.

by Anonymousreply 23October 20, 2021 5:05 PM

So glad to see the gorgeous Juanita Tolliver getting some much-deserved DL attention. She is so smart and always adds to the discussion; Ms. Tolliver is no "talking head" parroting worn-out cliches and that day's talking points. Instead we are presented with refreshingly original political analysis.

And yes, she and Ari share amazing chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 24October 20, 2021 6:33 PM

Ari wants her!!!

by Anonymousreply 25October 20, 2021 7:36 PM

Ari wants BBC, R25.

by Anonymousreply 26October 20, 2021 7:37 PM

So why doesn't MSNBC use more of the great Juanita Tolliver? She rarely seems to appear on anyone's else's show. What is her full-time gig?

by Anonymousreply 27October 20, 2021 8:53 PM

Listen y’all. We can’t be starting new threads after only 200 posts.

DL used to complain about FREEPERS alllll the time….what changed????

by Anonymousreply 28October 20, 2021 9:27 PM

r28, we will continue to start threads as older ones are $$, no matter what the count.

Not brain surgery.

by Anonymousreply 29October 20, 2021 9:35 PM

Really, what does it matter as long as the new thread is linked?

by Anonymousreply 30October 21, 2021 12:05 AM

True.

by Anonymousreply 31October 21, 2021 1:05 AM

I'm a regular here, a freeper, but do not post recklessly. My last post to Part 31 was also the final post before the paywall went up. I'm feeling a little targeted. I've got a decent WW ratio, so I think my posts are appreciated, but I guess I will try just try lurking for awhile.

by Anonymousreply 32October 21, 2021 4:04 AM

R32, ignore the cunts.

Just because people pony up the fee, doesn't make your posts any more or less valid.

by Anonymousreply 33October 21, 2021 4:10 AM

[quote] I like the suspense of not knowing which Joyce Vance will show up on camera on any particular day.

I tend to agree, Joyce should let her freedom flag fly. She was experimenting again, on with Brian tonight. Definitely an evening look. There's also nothing wrong with a little guidance, maybe from her sisters-in-law. Jill perhaps.

And does Ashley Parker have dreads?

by Anonymousreply 35October 21, 2021 5:39 AM

I prefer Barbara McQuade who forgoes all makeup and lets her freckles fly.

by Anonymousreply 36October 21, 2021 1:51 PM

I don’t think freeper means what you think it means.

by Anonymousreply 37October 21, 2021 3:25 PM

I thought so as well. r37.

OK then, what do we call non-subscribers? Nonsubs?

by Anonymousreply 38October 21, 2021 4:37 PM

How about calling non-subscribers "non-subscribers"? The drive to eliminate syllables is what's led to the abomination "veggie"!

by Anonymousreply 39October 21, 2021 4:40 PM

I believe that we are down to veg for that one. A meat and two veg.

by Anonymousreply 40October 21, 2021 4:43 PM

R40, isn't that an old Britishism? I don't see "veg" in America -- just "veggie", which really bugs me for some reason.

The last time I saw "Cheeseburger, or sub Veggie Patty" on a menu, I ordered it but said "with the vegetable patty, please". The waitress (who seemed to speak English fine) replied "Excuse me?". So I pointed to the menu item while repeating my request slowly and a little louder through my mask and she said "Oh! You mean the Veggie Patty?". At which point, I just said "Yes, please" while glaring (politely, I hope).

by Anonymousreply 41October 21, 2021 5:12 PM

Jake "💩" Sherman is the Joe Manchin of MSNBC.

He's now on today's "Hallie Jackson Reports" panel leading up to the Bannon contempt vote. Here's hoping Nicolle Wallace disinvites him at 4pm.

Meanwhile, Milquetoast Merrick is still sweating before the Judicial Committee. Sic'm, Mondair Jones!

by Anonymousreply 42October 21, 2021 7:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 43October 21, 2021 8:09 PM

by Anonymousreply 57October 23, 2021 1:04 AM

Rachel's expose on NV Republican's fraud of the 2020 election was possible because of our MAIL IN, and auditable, ballots.

Plus we have a phenomenal Black Attorney General. Aaron is the BEST and will probably be the first black Nevada governor.

by Anonymousreply 58October 23, 2021 1:25 AM

That story out of NV was just incredible, R58. I actually stood up and yelled "you used your dead wife!" at my tv. Please keep us posted re the cheating widower.

Rachel is providing reasoned background reporting on the tragedy in New Mexico. Sad that the related threads here have been highjacked by hyenas.

Jonathan Lemire is leaving AP after 8 years and is joining Politico. Also, he is now the official host of Way To Early.

by Anonymousreply 67October 25, 2021 10:04 AM

Based on his performance on WTE today, I'm nominating Tyler Pager (who?) as the new Vaughn

by Anonymousreply 68October 25, 2021 10:06 AM

That pipsqueak Lemire got the gig.

by Anonymousreply 69October 25, 2021 10:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 70October 25, 2021 12:52 PM

Mika was excited this morning because Robert Costa told her she did a good job reading his tweets earlier - basically getting complimented for being able to reading a teleprompter.

The Ari Melber fans here will appreciate the advice column at the link:

[quote] Tell [your co-worker] to check out the MSNBC talk show host Ari Melber. He is a straight-up hip-hop head. In defiance of stereotypes, Melber, a 40-year-old white guy, genuinely loves the genre and shines a light on it on a regular basis, often hosting hip-hop artists on his show. Perhaps letting your co-worker know that all kinds of people like hip-hop will get him to listen a little more closely.

There are 415(!) comments, which I haven't bothered to read since I don't like either hip-hop or Melber, but obviously some people take an interest in one and/or the other.

WHAT? Hello? He's a complete stereotype of Jewish boys who are not cool enough in the real wold so they glom onto Black dudes who seem cool and they do anything to be a part of their culture. To seem more interesting. To pretend the white privilege is not something they partially benefit from.

by Anonymousreply 85October 25, 2021 10:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 90October 26, 2021 12:38 AM

MSNBC men are like those at your local dive gay bar. Most are not hot, but once we down a few beers we can pretend to play that game of who's the hottest.

by Anonymousreply 92October 26, 2021 1:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 93October 26, 2021 3:21 AM

Oh, yeah, I am sure the black columnist and Ari's rap buddies take his seriously. They love the attention. But they fail to see they are just being used as props to Ari's carefully curated image of being down with the black folk.

by Anonymousreply 94October 26, 2021 3:41 AM

R94, I don't entirely disagree with this. But I appreciate the point that the columnist was making. Men of Melber's "class" enjoy the music so it lends it some legitimacy.....I think.

by Anonymousreply 104October 26, 2021 12:33 PM

Mike Fanone is on Morning Joe right now. Love that guy. So straightforward, down to earth, selfless, edgy and of course on a superficial level masculine and hot as fuck. Wish I could see more of the tatts.

I dont know how he remains normal after being almost killed by Trumpetiers like that. I would be bitter as hell and want revenge. And to ad insult to injury, all the Republican congressmen he tired to talk to basically showed him the door. Disgraceful.

by Anonymousreply 105October 26, 2021 12:34 PM

by Anonymousreply 108October 26, 2021 1:08 PM

It is worth repeating, but Jose Diaz-Balart needs to go. I understand the "diversity" play going on at MSNBC these days, but can't we get a different "hard news from a Latin angle" person to deliver it?

Today, I lasted all of 30 seconds with him on the TV as I turned it on and tried to get Morning Joe to play off the DVR. He was signing off of an interview then segued into a quick tease about Queen Elizabeth. Mind you, Jose is the man who can easily breeze through Hispanic and Latin names and accents, as well as vociferously debate issues concerning his audience, BUT HE CLEARLY CAN'T COMPREHEND something as bland, white-as-Wonder-bread and privileged as the British Monarch and sounds like an idiot trying to deal with it.

"Coming up, Queen Elizabeth back to work after her ahhh, doctors, ordered her to rest. She is now, erm, rested, and back to work."

R104, he still has room for a colostomy bag. Not tighter at all. And they are light brown pants, not khakis.

by Anonymousreply 120October 26, 2021 9:57 PM

104R - Actually Steve is wearing Gap Palomino Brown (NOT light brown) KHAKIS - his signature look. I saw him today on the 3:00pm segment and his Khakis/Pants/Slacks looked the same to me, not tighter than usual. A colostomy bag is an option during election sweeps as he can remain on set for HOURS and not have to leave the big board. I would imagine it would be a closed set should he be so equipped.

It is odd that The Gap names a pant style after a color and then offers other colors. Khaki is the color of dust in South Asian.

The Gap "Khakis" are a twill chino that comes in non-khakis colors.

What Kornacki wears are Palomino Brown twill chinos that are called Khakis by Gap.

[quote] I agree. Enough with clips of the assholes on FOX

I would agree, but I don't see many if any on what I watch. Rachel and Nichol seem relatively good about reading quotes rather than playing clips. Who's the most guilty? Morning Joe?

by Anonymousreply 130October 27, 2021 5:20 AM

For Halloween I think the MSNBC anchors should dress up like the Fox Anchors. Whoever they're up against in their respective time slots. Chris Hayes could wear a bowtie and with a hangdog dumb expression on his face the whole time and be Tucker Carlson, Rachel could wear a Sean Hannity-like wig and throw a football, but Lawrence in a blond wig as Laura Ingraham.

R131 Sadly, Halloween falls on a Sunday.

Curtis Sliwa was on Morning Joe, and he had a big, fat cat!!!

Mika held it up, and it was huge! A Maine Coon, I think.

He was so adorable.

by Anonymousreply 133October 27, 2021 12:18 PM

Danny Strong was on right after Curtis Sliwa, talking about his documentary "Dopesick."

I MUST watch that.

It's a fascinating look at the origins of the opioid epidemic in this country.

Maddow told an absolute whopper last night. She did a long bit about the USPS suspending service to Australia and made a bit about President Biden not being able to send a Thank-you note after the G-20. At no point did she say that service was suspended due to the enormous spike in COVID cases in Australia during the month of October. Also, diplomatic mail is not suspended; so, President Biden could send a Thank-You note. This really is beneath her.

by Anonymousreply 154October 28, 2021 10:34 AM

Mika needs to stop already, going on a rant non stop about how you should never point a gun at anyone even on a movie set. God, she is dim. It's a freaking western movie with gun fights. Baldwin was no horsing around apparently he was practicing the move before the shot. (no pun intended) What is us supposed to do pull out a light saber? Trying to shift the blame away from the dumb girl who handed him the gun?

Face it, Joe and Mika, it's not Baldwins fault, it was some stupid pee on. We know you want to riff on Hollywood, but it's just not the case. Actors are not responsible for the props they are given. Everyone heard the guy call out COLD gun. If only you were so on point when you were licking the boots of Trump over Hillary until you had your little spat and turned on him.

Sorry but that stupid 24 year old girl should go to jail if it was her fault. Any doubt if it was a young guy there would be a question? Plus she said she was very familiar with guns all her life.

by Anonymousreply 155October 28, 2021 10:35 AM

Isn't the question why were there live rounds on set at all - and who loaded the gun - was it prop girl? I thought there was an older veteran arms guy who had been cited in the past.

by Anonymousreply 156October 28, 2021 10:48 AM

Yes, even her legal experts were telling Mika that but she's trying to shift the narrative away from the stupid 24 year old and black Baldwin. Even her own TV experts said on set is the one place in America where it's ok to point a gun at someone. It's make believe not reality. The actor is not expected to know how to handle or firearm, it's suppose to be a prop. They are supposed to relying on the experts on set.

But Mika is as dim as that 24 year old bimbo. She just doesn't understand how a young woman could make a mistake like that and it not be the fault of a famous actor instead. " I just don't understand, explain that to me again, how is the actor not be responsible..." Because he was told it was a cold gun Mika, get it through your head, dozens of witnesses.

[quote] Mika needs to stop already, going on a rant non stop about how you should never point a gun at anyone even on a movie set. God, she is dim.

She's all about empowering females, which explains why she's trying to give the little murderous cunt a pass.

I'm sure she reminds Mika of her own daughters, so she's trying to deflect from the fact that this GIRL was unqualified, unprofessional, negligent, and RESPONSIBLE for the cinematographer's death.

Someone needs to be perfectly blunt with Mika, and call her out for whitewashing this girl's role in the death of the cinematographer.

by Anonymousreply 161October 28, 2021 6:18 PM

I miss Katy Tur. I was home watching MSNBC when the insurrection happened and she and I said in unison, Oh My God when the camera showed the woman who was shot and later died, taken out on a stretcher and there was blood everywhere. Chuck Todd was on with her and droning on about nothing important and she couldn't get his attention. Finally she said loudly that they just took out a woman who appeared to have devastating injuries. That shut him up.

by Anonymousreply 162October 28, 2021 6:20 PM

R162, it's so funny you posted that about Katy Tur. It was only because of her that I first realized the terrible turn things had taken on January 6. I was working and not paying much attention to my TV but when I heard Katy's tone take on one of terror (when video began to come in of the insurrectionists on the chamber floor), that was when I looked up and it all went downhill from there.

Vance was killed instantly and his wife, Helen, was seriously injured. Yes, but when you are on a play gun fight on a set you still have to point your gun at someone, for that shot, it's a old western for fucks sake. It's ridiculous for Mika to not get that. She knows better, what she is really trying to do is set up a straw man argument to take the spot light off the real person responsible, a 24 year old woman who was not qualified or cared enough to do her job resulting in deadly consequences.

Know your worth, demand adult pay for adult jobs but if you fuck up, revert to just an innocent girl in circumstances beyond your control. In Mika's world you really can have it both ways.

by Anonymousreply 230October 31, 2021 10:10 PM

R227 Black women’s hair issues is a whole topic but basically their scalps don’t make oil which makes their hair brittle and dry and prone to breaking off, which is exacerbated by the chemical straighteners some of them use and the pulled-too-tight braids and weaves they wear. Joy Reid’s natural hairline is exhibit A of this.

by Anonymousreply 231October 31, 2021 10:44 PM

The scalp makes oil, but by the nature of the hair, the oil doesn't travel down the shaft like it does for straight hair. The hair grows, like for other ethnicities, six inches per year. And of course, there are some people who grow a little more or a little less than. Just adding onto r231 response.

by Anonymousreply 234November 1, 2021 5:40 AM

[quote]why does black women's hair need help to grow?

It's not that it needs help to grow, it's just that protective styles (buns, braids, etc.) keep it tucked away and prevent breakage, etc.

by Anonymousreply 235November 1, 2021 5:42 AM

Black hair, particularly women's hair, could have a reference book all unto itself. The myth about black women's hair and that it can't grow is just that -- a myth.

No, r250, his brown pants are too loose, Lautrec.

by Anonymousreply 251November 2, 2021 1:31 PM

Oh wow, R237. I stand corrected. One other person has used "Tuckems". Why it's practically taken over as America's latest catch phrase!

by Anonymousreply 252November 2, 2021 2:02 PM

Tuckems and Mother Tucker are fairly standard.

by Anonymousreply 253November 2, 2021 3:58 PM

Of course Steve Kornacki‘s tired ass is going to say exit polls are breaking for Trumpkin. Which probably means that the final results will be very different and break for McAuliffe. Steve always doing that shit, with his gay closeted Republican khaki wearing ass.

by Anonymousreply 254November 2, 2021 9:12 PM

Where is Vaughn??

by Anonymousreply 255November 2, 2021 9:16 PM

Kornacki’s exit polls on the two candidate’s favorable ratings are brutal. I’m calling it. It’s over.

by Anonymousreply 256November 2, 2021 9:19 PM

So what do you think he SHOULD say, R254? Just lie for your benefit? It's sadly hilarious when someone like you tries to paint Steve Kornacki's coverage with a partisan brush just because he says something you don't like. Grow up.

by Anonymousreply 257November 2, 2021 9:44 PM

My God, Pramila Jayapal is as politically clueless as Bernie Sanders. The progressives are going to tank everything and be smug and happy about it all the way to the party's gallows.

by Anonymousreply 258November 2, 2021 9:48 PM

Nicolle is lovely in orange this evening, needing no accessories to overwhelm the dress. We know Rachel will be wearing her signature black blazer. What can we expect from Joy? I hope she wears a muted bronze top--that color is so complimentary to her skin tone and hair.

Who's dressing Joy Reid? Ten minutes to airtime.

by Anonymousreply 259November 2, 2021 9:51 PM

[quote]What can we expect from Joy?

Not much.

by Anonymousreply 260November 2, 2021 10:08 PM

I would love if Rachel showed up for Election Night coverage in her standard black blazer and a beautiful, tasteful tiara on her head. No one mentions the tiara, it's just there.

by Anonymousreply 261November 2, 2021 10:11 PM

One can hope, R260. The elections alone are as much of trash and vaudeville we can stand tonight.

NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa tried to take his cat, Gizmo, into the voting booth this morning. Gizmo is one of Sliwa's 16 cats; they and the Sliwas share a studio apartment.

Oy!

by Anonymousreply 266November 2, 2021 10:48 PM

R256 - I said this on one of the other threads, but exit polls reveal only so much because many people voted early. And most early voters tend to be Democratic.

I think you're mistaking Rachel for a suburban hausfrau celebrating her engagement on a Las Vegas party bus.

by Anonymousreply 269November 3, 2021 12:28 AM

He’s not, R269.

by Anonymousreply 270November 3, 2021 12:30 AM

Shouldn't Joy be telling us all about how black women have saved the country AGAIN?? Oh wait...

by Anonymousreply 271November 3, 2021 12:37 AM

I am a bitter old bitch with a long memory so I always change to CNN when Claire McCaskill comes on.

[quote]Around cultural issues, the Republican Party, I think, very adroitly adopted cultural issues as part of their main theme. Whether you’re talking guns or issues surrounding the right to abortion in this country or things like gay marriage and the right for transsexuals and other people who we as a party have tried to look after and make sure that they’re treated fairly.

As we circle those issues, we’ve left some voters behind, and Republicans dove in with a vengeance and grabbed those voters. You’ve seen this shift. You see it in the South. I see it in the rural areas of my state. So we’ve gotta get back to the meat-and-potatoes issues. We’ve gotta get back to the issues where we are taking care of their families, and we’ve gotta stop acting like we’re smarter than everybody else. Because we’re not.

Wouldn’t you love Claire McCaskill to be in the Senate instead of insurrectionist Hawley, R272? Sure, she’s not as liberal as you’d like, but she is from deep red Missouri.

by Anonymousreply 273November 3, 2021 12:42 AM

This is too depressing to watch.

by Anonymousreply 274November 3, 2021 12:51 AM

What do you suppose Chris Hayes is doing tonight?

by Anonymousreply 275November 3, 2021 12:51 AM

R273. Absolutely!!!! Also, if Claire McCaskill were still in the Senate, she would be on TV less!!! And Joe Manchin would not be king of the USA. So I would love that!!!!!!!

I hope McAuliffe wins tonight, too. But I change the channel when he comes on with his Clintonesque bullshit, too.

If I thought this opinion was a reasonable one, I would like not preceded it with "I am a bitter old bitch." Perhaps I should have remembered the Dear Readers here and realized that many would take that description as a claim to infallibility. Please pardon me. I ate a lot of edibles to prepare for this.

Oops-- gotta go change back to CNN again-- homophobe Jason Johnson just came on.

by Anonymousreply 276November 3, 2021 12:52 AM

R275 I think Chris Hayes will be coming on later on. There are lots of boring races still to call!

by Anonymousreply 277November 3, 2021 12:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 282November 3, 2021 1:27 AM

Joy is so out of her league with Nicole and Rachel. Nicole is the most politically savvy of the three and she just nicely tried to shut down Joy's rant that only Progressives care about America. Nicole stated that the infighting within the Dems is what is going to give the Repugs the advantage and that Biden's 43% approval rating is related to the Dems inhouse catfight. Joy kept saying you have to fight, fight, fight and Nicole responded that public fighting within the party is dangerous. Joy and her racist bullshit is an embarrassment to MSNBC and she represents exactly why independents are now turning against the Dems.

Morning Joe this morning, without Joe, man that guy takes a lot of days off, has Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary on as a guest to talk about the economy. That is when I turned it off, if they aren't going to take things seriously, neither am I.

by Anonymousreply 288November 4, 2021 11:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 289November 4, 2021 5:43 PM

R288 - I find that with Morning Joe, the first hour (when they rarely gave guests, only pundits) is plenty, and so I don't have to see the Shatk Tank guy.

I DVR the show and then watch when I get up.

That also enables me to speed past the commercials and all of the sports talk, and so I end up watching about 40 minutes of it.

Almost as bad as having bitch Barbara Corcoran on to talk about the real estate market. She should be barred from the media & profession, after she was everywhere in 2007 poo-pooing the notion of a bubble, offering financial advice to buy as much home as you can possibly get away with. Then laying low during the crisis until 2012 and announcing snarkily "We're baaack". Now she's pushing the same line, "homebuyers should not wait". Unbelievably craven.

That said, her physical make-over isn't actually godawful, considering the before.

Their entire evening lineup covers the same stuff one right after the other. The same story being "breaking news" four hours in a row is too much.

by Anonymousreply 318November 9, 2021 2:16 AM

R318 How Dare you?

by Anonymousreply 319November 9, 2021 2:17 AM

Rachel spends 30 minutes explaining what could be explained in five minutes and then complains about how much news there is that they can't get to it all. She rarely has guests because she would rather hear herself talk.

by Anonymousreply 320November 9, 2021 2:20 AM

[quote]Their entire evening lineup covers the same stuff one right after the other. The same story being "breaking news" four hours in a row is too much.

But can't the same be said for CNN?

[quote]Rachel spends 30 minutes explaining what could be explained in five minutes and then complains about how much news there is that they can't get to it all.

I love Rachel but this is so true.

by Anonymousreply 321November 9, 2021 2:41 AM

I hear you wrt Rachel, but she still does shine a light on some stuff that no one is really covering. And when she does, I enjoy the extra level of background and potential connections that she delivers. Her vocal tics and pat phrases do grate over time - still worth putting up with for me.

I just know I'm going to miss her when she goes to a reduced schedule, so I'm hanging in for now.

by Anonymousreply 322November 9, 2021 2:48 AM

[quote]I just know I'm going to miss her when she goes to a reduced schedule, so I'm hanging in for now.

[quote] Do we know yet when this is supposed to happen?

I haven't seen anything more specific than "next year" Her current contract was set to expire in early 2022, that seems like the logical transition point. And the new format is loosely defined as a weekly show.

by Anonymousreply 324November 9, 2021 7:36 AM

Another trademark Rachelism is showing a clip of someone in the news saying something controversial or objectionable. And the camera cuts back to her, and then she repeats what that person said. At least twice. Usually in a "funny" voice or at the top of her vocal register.

It's how you fill up 42 minutes when you have fewer guests than other hosts. And you love to hear the sound of your own voice.

by Anonymousreply 325November 9, 2021 12:49 PM

[quite] And you love to hear the sound of your own voice.

You do not sign a $30 Million contract if people do not like to hear your voice.

by Anonymousreply 326November 9, 2021 12:56 PM

But how many news anchors, on MSNBC or anywhere, are able to spontaneously speak directly to the viewer about the news and their views about the news with great intelligence and sight night after night for an hour? More or less unscripted.

by Anonymousreply 327November 9, 2021 12:58 PM

Maybe if she had a script she wouldn't repeat so much.

by Anonymousreply 328November 9, 2021 4:26 PM

by Anonymousreply 330November 9, 2021 10:56 PM

[quote] is showing a clip of someone in the news saying something controversial or objectionable. And the camera cuts back to her, and then she repeats what that person said.

Yes! She does this all the fucking time. Why show the clip if you're just going to repeat what was said immediately afterward?

She also has an obsession with people who have unusual names. She will say their names in a weird voice, as if she's mocking their names. During the early years of Trump's term, she was fascinated by the name Reince Priebus. She would pronounce it as RRRRRRRREINCE PPPPPPRRRIEBUS, usually followed by a giggle.

by Anonymousreply 331November 9, 2021 11:36 PM

Chris Hayes LOVES talking with his hands and now that he's back in the studio again it's nonstop. When he has a guest in-studio, he loves to reach across and tap the table while making points.

by Anonymousreply 333November 10, 2021 12:26 AM

Brian had sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 334November 10, 2021 12:31 AM

Does Brian Williams land at CBS Evening News???

by Anonymousreply 335November 10, 2021 12:37 AM

That's huge news, R333!

I wonder why?

He's still relatively young.

Maybe Brian doesn't like the direction of the network. Especially with Joy Reid taking over, and all the men being cut out of election coverage.

Come to think of it, I'd leave too.

by Anonymousreply 336November 10, 2021 12:41 AM

Ari & Chris got cut out too!!!

by Anonymousreply 337November 10, 2021 12:50 AM

Brian was pissed they didn’t offer him Rachel-level money.

by Anonymousreply 338November 10, 2021 1:02 AM

Good riddance to Williams. Time for someone new

I don't know that I'd call 62 relatively young.

I wonder if Brian will retire early or try to find a new TV gig. He actually wanted to host the "Tonight Show" after Jay Leno left. Maybe he'll try to land a talk show or a comedy gig.

With Rachel supposedly dropping back to a weekly show and Brian leaving, that leaves MSNBC in a difficult position. Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell aren't going to be enough to carry the weeknights. They need some new blood.

Soledad O'Brien for Brian's timeslot.

by Anonymousreply 345November 10, 2021 3:38 AM

Soledad has already had gigs at MSNBC and CNN, and she was never a big ratings draw. Hard to imagine it would be any different now.

She has also been very critical of TV news since she left CNN. I doubt she would want to return to the daily cable news grind.

by Anonymousreply 346November 10, 2021 3:44 AM

Medhi Hasan is a rising star. At the very least, I bet they promote him from Sunday and give him a weekly show.

by Anonymousreply 347November 10, 2021 4:20 AM

I think Robert Costa would be a great replacement for Brian on "The 11th Hour." He's a respected journalist plus he's handsome, which is the perfect combo.

by Anonymousreply 348November 10, 2021 4:25 AM

Joy Reid will be taking over the 8pm to 11pm slot, Monday through Friday.

With an encore presentation from midnight to 3am.

by Anonymousreply 349November 10, 2021 4:27 AM

Joy moves to 11pm network brings in either:

Jon Stewart Bill Maher Bari Weiss Pod Save America live! Al Franken (he would NEVER follow Rachel) Or they just shrug and give it to Claire McCaskill.

My preference: John Heilman

by Anonymousreply 350November 10, 2021 4:33 AM

Is Rachel's contract with MSNBC or NBC News? If the latter, my guess is there won't be an MSNBC after next year's midterms.

by Anonymousreply 353November 10, 2021 4:43 AM

Rachel might stay.

by Anonymousreply 354November 10, 2021 4:44 AM

[quote] Joy Reid will be taking over the 8pm to 11pm slot, Monday through Friday.

No, Joy Reid will be from 8 to 10 p.m., followed by Jason Johnson from10 to 11.

by Anonymousreply 355November 10, 2021 4:52 AM

With Rachel and Brian both leaving their nightly gigs, I imagine that Chris Hayes and Ari Melber will seize the opportunity ("I'm MSNBC's star anchor now!") to demand more air time and more money. And I imagine that the network will say no to both of them and tell them to stay in their current slots at their current pay. I could see one or both of them leaving, too, especially if MSNBC shuns them in favor of bringing in someone new to replace either Rachel or Brian.

by Anonymousreply 356November 10, 2021 4:59 AM

You know who I would love to see? Jacob Soboroff!!

by Anonymousreply 357November 10, 2021 5:06 AM

by Anonymousreply 358November 10, 2021 5:09 AM

[quote] With Rachel supposedly dropping back to a weekly show and Brian leaving, that leaves MSNBC in a difficult position.

This tells me that something is seriously wrong with the leadership at MSNBC. Meaning: Rashida Jones.

Brian and Rachel are the leading talent at the network. She lost Brian, and she almost lost Rachel. She also lost Kasie Hunt, who was a young up-and-comer.

The woman clearly doesn't know what the fuck she's doing.

If this many people want to jump ship, it really doesn't bode well for the network.

Instead of hiring an unqualified Millennial/AA/Female just to check off all the "woke" boxes, the powers that be should have hired someone who could actually DO the job.

This really sucks.

Ari needs the drop the Rap fanboy shit if he really wants to go prime time. It's immature to classic Jewish boy wants to be cool by hanging out with the black guys. It would be like Rachael going on and on every show about baseball or something tonally unrelated. There's lots of people who love baseball but I don't want a lesson on all the players every time I tune into the show to watch actual news. Do it on your own time,

if I don't like baseball or Rap, harping on it at the end of even of every show and throwing in baseball terminology or history is not going to make me a fan. If anything it makes me want to flip the channel.

Working with married couples in the same office is the worst, especially if they hold the power positions. It's not like you can honestly complain about one without the other being a part of the equation. Oh sure," open door" Boomer BS line but, in in reality, one or the other will be offended and eventually lead to you being fired. Plus they don't want to share power because they are already King and Queen, why would they let anyone be equal to that? Maybe if you are lucky they will use you as the court jester. Hi Lemire!

by Anonymousreply 368November 10, 2021 9:53 AM

Pot Meet Kettle. Maybe it's because people on MSNBC like Joy Reid have been caught saying homophobic slurs. You’d think a bunch of marginalized black woman would know better.

There fixed it for you.

by Anonymousreply 372November 10, 2021 11:52 AM

[quote]Pot Meet Kettle. Maybe it's because people on MSNBC like Joy Reid

"People" like Joy Reid? You mean people of color? Which is REALLY what gets in your craw, right? You're one of the sickening white homos whose own racism blinds himself to the fact that he, too, is in a group of highly marginalized, discriminated-against people. People like you forgive white celebs at the drop of a hat who've been caught saying homophobic things, but black celebs who've allegedly done the same thing continue to draw your ire even after they've publicly made amends or if the allegations have never even fully been proven. Fuck you and your racist agenda. Don't like MSNBC because of the melanted hosts? Change the channel.

by Anonymousreply 373November 10, 2021 12:05 PM

Jonathan Capeheart was auditioning Tuesday evening in Joy's slot.

by Anonymousreply 374November 10, 2021 12:19 PM

Mika ranting why people wont go back to work. Joe has officially taken over her brain. Well Mika, people had a wake up call and realized they don't want to go back to shitty jobs. Even before you were fucking Joe, before you demanded your worth, you were making far, far more money than 99% of the working class. Wake up and smell the coffee, most of those "small business" are cheap whores and whining not because people wont work for them, it's because people wont work for them at minimum wage.

by Anonymousreply 375November 10, 2021 12:56 PM

Sad, last days of MSNBC.

That woman has driven the network into the ground.

by Anonymousreply 376November 10, 2021 1:00 PM

Oh jeez. It has nothing to do with the color of Joy's skin and everything to do with that she's awful. Awful at interviews. Awful delivery. Awful at commentary. Awful at presenting content. Awful to look at. She's mediocre, at best.

If all the Joy fanboys care about is the color of her skin, then Zerlina Maxwell is head and shoulders better than Joy, as is Tiffany Cross. Jonathan Capehart is fantastic. Any one of those anchors should have been given Joy's time slot. My dream anchor would be Maya Wiley if she was available.

Joy doesn't get a free pass at being criticized because she's a black woman, so get over it.

by Anonymousreply 377November 10, 2021 1:19 PM

R377, Tiffany Cross has a high-pitched, incredibly annoying and grating voice. Try again, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 378November 10, 2021 4:41 PM

MSNBC is finished, once Brian Williams leaves.

He was the only news anchor with "gravitas" on the network.

by Anonymousreply 379November 10, 2021 5:32 PM

^^^Alison Williams, posted while taking a break from getting her ass eaten out

by Anonymousreply 380November 10, 2021 5:33 PM

Joy is extremely intelligent and has a way of delivering monologues of commentary that Jonathan Capehart with his penchant for stuttering and Tiffany Cross (though I love her) cannot match because of her nasally delivery.

Rachel Maddow MSNBC @maddow

I wish everyone could have the blessing of working alongside a colleague who is as hilarious, as wickedly capable, as enormously generous as the great Brian Williams. It's one of the true honors of my working life to have shared a desk (and so many midnight hot dogs) with him Red heart

She doesn't sound happy about his departure.

I'm telling you, it's because of this dumb bitch Rashida Jones.

Something's not right.

by Anonymousreply 383November 10, 2021 7:06 PM

Will the one and only Brian Williams Fangirl on this website please fuck off? BW is a LIAR which is why he was FIRED from his big job at NBC. The only reason he is on MSNBC is because his contract requires that he get paid whether he's on-air or not. He's white, male, and can read a TelePrompTer which is why he has a show.

BW doesn't want to be a newsman, he wants to be a STAH and hopefully he'll start a comedy podcast or something else that will be easy to ignore. No one cares about Brian fucking Williams.

by Anonymousreply 384November 10, 2021 7:11 PM

The mind boggles: Rachel eating hot dogs with anybody, much less that insouciant, dapper liar Brian Williams.

by Anonymousreply 389November 11, 2021 1:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 390November 11, 2021 12:21 PM

I wonder what Joy thought of Luther and now Nas?

by Anonymousreply 391November 11, 2021 12:39 PM

I'm amazed at how a thread about MSNBC, presumably being discussed by liberals, could also be so racist. Ah, the wonders of Datalounge.

I like what Brian brought to the network. My guess is, he wanted an earlier slot and they wouldn't give it to him and he decided to leave. End of story.

by Anonymousreply 392November 11, 2021 12:56 PM

Brian looks damn good for 62

by Anonymousreply 393November 11, 2021 1:51 PM

No, she's not. But you are DEFINITELY racist.

by Anonymousreply 394November 11, 2021 3:06 PM

It's really hard to believe that Joy has such a rabid fan that they feel compelled to jump to her defense for even the slightest criticism, even if that criticism is entirely accurate.

by Anonymousreply 395November 11, 2021 3:24 PM

R395, I'm not R394 and I like Joy also. Sorry to disappoint you that not everyone agrees with your criticism.

by Anonymousreply 396November 11, 2021 3:31 PM

R396, like clockwork! Thank you for proving my point. You just can't help yourself, can you? LOL!

by Anonymousreply 397November 11, 2021 3:33 PM

I've watched Joy's show and I've listened to her podcast. Regardless of who or what she used to be, she is not that person any longer. Her daughter is a lesbian and she is a big PFLAG mom. People are allowed to evolve, for fuck sake.

by Anonymousreply 398November 11, 2021 3:38 PM

Joy Reid's pussy stinks!

She is a homophobic, unprofessional, LIAR who falsely claimed that a "hacker" wrote those homophobic remarks on her Twitter account.

I wish the FBI would arrest this bitch for making false statements, and slam her with 5 years in prison.

by Anonymousreply 399November 11, 2021 4:09 PM

Joy really led the charge on Mayor Pete’s “black problem” throughout the campaign . Hammered on about it constantly, almost gleefully.

by Anonymousreply 400November 11, 2021 4:17 PM

My, my, my. The white hoods are REALLY showing now, aren't they? It upsets some of you to your core that Joy-Ann Reid is a successful, intelligent and accomplished BLACK woman and that your narrow-minded agenda of what you want her to be (a homophobe) is not true, and that's just Too. Fucking. Bad. You're the same people who champion Rachel Maddow and Mayor Pete (whose issues on a racial front were justified for discussion, if nothing else) because they have the complexion for protection. But DO keep tuning in to watch Joy every night. You might learn something.

by Anonymousreply 401November 11, 2021 4:51 PM

I wonder if Chris Hayes' muscles have grown from working out.

by Anonymousreply 402November 11, 2021 5:04 PM

[quote]same people who champion Rachel Maddow and Mayor Pete

I'm not so sure fans of one are fans of the other. There are a bunch of overly sensitive Pete defenders who were horrified when Rachel first had him on her show and had the nerve to ask him "mean" questions - in fact a whole thread on the topic.

by Anonymousreply 403November 11, 2021 6:05 PM

Disliking Joy Reid is not a sign of racism. She would be the first to claim it is, which is one reason I don’t like her.

by Anonymousreply 404November 11, 2021 6:08 PM

I have never seen Joy Reid's show (honest) and I have no opinion about her but I have to say that the people calling her critics racist remind me of the people who call you racist if you say something mean about Beyoncé. They can't understand criticism of someone they idolize so they immediately revert to the racism explanation. If I say, But I have huge admiration for Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Grace Bumbry, Gladys Knight, etc. etc., they just go silent.

by Anonymousreply 405November 11, 2021 6:29 PM

Can we stop with the race baiting and talk about Phil’s holiday decor? With all that book money I’m expecting big things from that guy.

by Anonymousreply 406November 11, 2021 6:44 PM

Just for fun I'm going to do a "Like" Count when watching Chris Hayes this evening.

I'll predict it's over a 100.

by Anonymousreply 407November 11, 2021 7:07 PM

Nice try, R405, but it doesn't wash. People begrudge her because she tells it like it is. If the stances she has on racism (which are valid) don't apply to you, then move on. Only a hit dog will holler.

by Anonymousreply 408November 11, 2021 7:50 PM

R406 Phil Rucker?

Why not a show for him - maybe Acosta and he could co-host.

And somewhere around here there's a thread saying that gorgeous Shepard Smith (sp?) with his guyliner is coming aboard MSNBC. Ahoy mateee!!!!

And since CNN demoted Anderson Cooper for the likes of Lemon and Cuomo, maybe he'd take a choice spot on the MSNBC primetime lineup? Instead of Santorum he could have Steve Schmidt be his Republican panelist.

by Anonymousreply 409November 11, 2021 8:00 PM

Lightweight Anderson Cooper would be perfect for MSNBC!

by Anonymousreply 410November 11, 2021 8:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 422November 12, 2021 5:01 AM

Joy does have a big personality. Without Rachel (except once a week) or Brian, they're gonna be a little nerdy (Chris) and stale (Lawerence).

I think I'd like to see Nicolle in primetime - she has gravitas, compared to most talking heads. Feels like there are so few choices - still hoping for Shep. They tried Foxxers with Greta and Megyn, so even with Rashida's prejudice, maybe. He's got personality and a controversial background - oh and name recognition/Q factor. Which is a lot!

by Anonymousreply 423November 12, 2021 5:06 AM

Anybody for Morning Joe to make the move to evening? If so, with or without Mika?

Anybody..... ?

by Anonymousreply 424November 12, 2021 5:08 AM

I'd watch that, R424.

But at the same time, I'd miss them in the morning.

They've been at it for about 14 years, and I've watched them since the very beginning.

by Anonymousreply 425November 12, 2021 5:10 AM

* I meant "Q score." I think Q factor is some kind of physics or mathematical thing.

by Anonymousreply 426November 12, 2021 5:15 AM

I have to add that the Morning Joe format was what drew me in from the very beginning.

I loved the round table discussion, because it was so lively and fun. Joe was a total nutcase back then (he still is, but he used to be much worse), and Mika was a total doormat. They used to be very hostile to each other, and he would be.... I would almost say abusive, to her. Willie would not dare get in the middle of their fights.

Joe attracted the best guests from the very beginning. Between he and Mika, they were able to attract MARQUEE names from the Washington political scene. It was like must-see tv.

Another fun aspect was that because it was the 2007-2008 election cycle, they would go to New Hampshire, and Iowa, and other Primary Election sites, then on to the Convention sites, and they would occupy bars and restaurants, and have a live audience. It was amazing.

There was such a buzz and an energy surrounding the show.

Then came the election and Inauguration, and I'll always remember how excited I was watching Morning Joe on Inauguration Day 2009, and Joe and Mika were so excited, and all the guests were excited, and they showed the people running to get a spot in the viewing area, then the morning church service, and meeting at the White House, and the motorcade to the capital, and the introductions of all the former Presidents, the swearing-in, and finally the George W. Bush send off.

Those were some good times.

So yeah, I'd be very sad to see Morning Joe move to evenings, if it ever happened.

I don't think it would be the same, particularly because a lot of his big name guests all seem to be morning people.

by Anonymousreply 427November 12, 2021 5:31 AM

Here's a cool/funny and somewhat bizarre commercial for Morning Joe from back in 2011.

by Anonymousreply 430November 12, 2021 6:30 AM

That's pretty funny R428, I never saw that. Trying to make Joe look cool which he is not. He's like the least cool guy on his own show.

[quote]Joy is a Black woman who should have known better and will never be offered any mercy

You cant forgive someone who never owned up to her own shit. She never really apologized. She denied she did it and tried to blame hackers. When she finally got caught without proof of such lie, her apology was "I really don't think I made those comments". Denial is not an apology. Why should gays or anyone forgive her? She's lies just like Trump. Deny, Deny, Deny.

by Anonymousreply 433November 12, 2021 6:39 AM

What was that show that Steve and Ari got their start on, the Circle, the Cycle? I liked that format, at least to break the chain of single host shows. Get some new blood, and shake things up a bit. Aside from perhaps her diversity mission Rashida Jones seems to have a very conventional take on programming

by Anonymousreply 434November 12, 2021 6:44 AM

I love how Steve Kornacki became a thing. Before anyone knew his name he was one of a group of young people called The Cycle on MSNBC, they tried to make work but failed miserably. With people such as Crystal Ball. I remember one show where they made fun of him because he just discovered couscous. Like he's the rube from NJ and they are the sophisticated NYC elite. Well where are they now?

Cream rises to the top. Congrats Steve.

Racism is less of a deal breaker for R432 than homophobia is.

by Anonymousreply 437November 12, 2021 10:47 AM

Forget the part that when she wrote those posts, it was a different time and that was the language. Some of you sound like those people who complain about Friends being homophobic. It was the 90s. And it was Joy's blog that first got her attention from the mainstream media.

Did you even really listen to what Joy said. Her apology?

She handled it poorly, no doubt about that, but what she said was that she did not recognize the person who wrote those posts. Probably because she is not the same person who wrote those posts. For those of you who write, have you looked at your past writing and wondered how you could have written such mess.

I just wish that some of you were just honest why you don't like Joy. If you say you don't like her because she was a homophobe, I can respect. But I can't respect someone who says she is a homophobe. Because she isn't, not now. And no one can point to one thing that would back up any claim that she is a homophobe now.

And don't point to the Pete thing, because if Joy is homophobe for not liking Pete in the primaries, then Maddow and whole bunch of other people are homophobes.

by Anonymousreply 438November 12, 2021 10:59 AM

[quote]Regardless of who or what she used to be, she is not that person any longer. Her daughter is a lesbian and she is a big PFLAG mom. People are allowed to evolve, for fuck sake.

She evolved in just that last 2 years? How Republican of her. Just in time with something that affects her personally but not when gay men needed her support. She should actually register as a Republican because she sure acts like one. Or maybe she "evolved" because it was a good career move. She sure showed her true colors when Pete was running for president. Nonstop attacks on him that she did NOT do to ANY of the other candidate. Kind of obvious homophobic chip on her shoulder couldn't stand the idea he might win. Now she's all kissy, kissy with him to come on her show. What a fake ass bitch! TRUTH.

by Anonymousreply 439November 12, 2021 11:00 AM

Taking Pete to task for the race issue when he was mayor was VALID. White homos don’t care about the race issue, so they give him a pass simply because he’s a gay man. And all of you who do so can go merrily step off the side of a bridge.

by Anonymousreply 467November 13, 2021 1:02 AM

Joyce V. isn't wearing her glasses tonight

by Anonymousreply 468November 13, 2021 1:24 AM

[quote] Velshi in for Rachel...wah, wah, wah...

I thought when she signed off last night she said, see you tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 469November 13, 2021 1:40 AM

[quote] Joyce V. isn't wearing her glasses tonight

love Joyce and respect her choices. But can we agree, she just looks better with glasses.

by Anonymousreply 470November 13, 2021 4:54 AM

Yeah Tiffany’s voice needs some bass.

And Robert Costa is not handsome

by Anonymousreply 471November 13, 2021 12:17 PM

Neal’s pelt is visible even with just one button undone. Can you imagine what he looks like shirtless?

by Anonymousreply 472November 13, 2021 1:22 PM

Why does Michael Schmidt always wear that ugly charcoal grey sweater with the zipper? I mean, always. Even in the summer. It's hideous.

by Anonymousreply 473November 13, 2021 2:36 PM

Considering the competition, Acosta's a dreamboat, R471

Compare him to Lawrence, Chris, Ari, Ali Velshi... I mean, come on.

by Anonymousreply 474November 13, 2021 3:20 PM

* meant Costa, not Acosta, though both are fine

by Anonymousreply 475November 13, 2021 3:21 PM

I think Robert Costa is very handsome, plus he's done a great job keeping the weight off.

by Anonymousreply 476November 13, 2021 3:24 PM

I can’t wait for Katy Tur to come back and complain about how much she struggled through her postpartum period and whine about how difficult motherhood is for her.

by Anonymousreply 477November 13, 2021 3:56 PM

I agree that Costa is handsome.

Initially when he lost the weight, I thought his head proportionately looked too big for his body.

But something changed somewhere since then and now I think he looks really good.

by Anonymousreply 478November 13, 2021 4:14 PM

Jim Acosta is handsomer than all of them!

by Anonymousreply 479November 13, 2021 6:59 PM

The argument that Joy’s making fun of Republican closet cases is homophobic is spot on! Datalounge simply cannot be polluted with such garbage. Fetch my fainting couch!

by Anonymousreply 480November 13, 2021 7:55 PM

Did Joy make fun of Josh Hawley?

by Anonymousreply 481November 13, 2021 10:12 PM

Has Jonathan Capehart ever gone on record as having a stuttering issue? If not, then for the love of God I wish he would work on the verbal stumbling. It’s bad enough to make me stop watching. Interesting that this doesn’t happen when he’s doing his Byline at the end of the show.

by Anonymousreply 482November 14, 2021 9:23 PM

It can be frustrating at times, along with his insistence on calling everyone by their title (Senator Klobuchar, Congresswoman Waters, etc.).

by Anonymousreply 483November 14, 2021 9:50 PM

He addresses people by their title, as he is really pissed that BLACK professionals ALWAYS get addressed by their first name. Obama is the only exception. The unintentional calling black men boy.

by Anonymousreply 484November 14, 2021 11:19 PM

They need to fire that race-baiting fraud REVEREND Al.

by Anonymousreply 485November 14, 2021 11:26 PM

Bring back Keith Olbermann. He's only 62!

Surely they could find some steely staff to handle him. They've managed to keep hot-head Joe Scarborough.

by Anonymousreply 486November 14, 2021 11:29 PM

[quote]Has Jonathan Capehart ever gone on record as having a stuttering issue?

Capehart has a stuttering issue?

by Anonymousreply 487November 15, 2021 12:24 AM

R223 I just LOVE "That page isn't available" Instagram posts!

by Anonymousreply 488November 15, 2021 12:51 AM

R486 One of the reasons I finally cut the cable cord was that I couldn't stand another day of Joe "Never Shuts Up" Scarborough. How Mika is still around I don't know. I guess she likes the money.

by Anonymousreply 489November 15, 2021 12:54 AM

A bunch of gay men of ALL races bashing an accomplished, well-spoken and educated HOMOPHOBIC black woman. Quelle surprise.

There fixed it for you.

by Anonymousreply 490November 15, 2021 3:06 AM

[quote]The argument that Joy’s making fun of Republican closet cases is homophobic is spot on! Datalounge simply cannot be polluted with such garbage. Fetch my fainting couch!

Yet another clueless homophobic remark. Let put it in words you might understand. You dont bash uncle Tom Republicans by using the N word on personal blogs and TV.

by Anonymousreply 491November 15, 2021 3:11 AM

[quote]Calm your jets, Pete Fangurl. It's highly understandable why Joy would come at him a little harder than Rachel given his abysmal race relations

It's highly understandable as a homophobe like myself why Joy would come at him a little harder than Rachel, using the race card always works when you have nothing better to hid your homophobia behind. Although there are time when I have been more blunt and used the F=A=G term in public. - Joy Reid

The follow-on to this thread : MSNBC - Part R.I.P.

by Anonymousreply 493November 15, 2021 5:16 AM

You know, r493, you neither need to read nor post in this thread.

Scrolling by can be therapeutic. Removing it from your thread watcher as well.

Go with God, but go.

by Anonymousreply 494November 15, 2021 5:19 AM

R494 I'm a devoted fan of this thread series, and of MSNBC. Troubled by what seems to be the slow demise of both.

by Anonymousreply 495November 15, 2021 6:08 AM

[quote] Yet another clueless homophobic remark.

I demand satisfaction, sir! I will defend my honor!

by Anonymousreply 496November 15, 2021 6:15 AM

R438, Do you have a selective memory or are you new around here? Rachel WAS slammed for how she treated Pete. She really went after him for coming out so late in life because, as she reminded everyone ad nauseam, she came out while still in college. She thought he wasn't authentic and it showed. She really looked down on him and treated him like trash.

When it comes to gay men, Joy and Rachel are birds of a feather.

by Anonymousreply 497November 15, 2021 1:23 PM

Rachel is repelled by cock. Pete has one.

by Anonymousreply 498November 15, 2021 1:42 PM

You mean Pete is a hack and Rachel had him sussed out in five minutes.

by Anonymousreply 499November 15, 2021 3:24 PM

R499 wins!

by Anonymousreply 500November 15, 2021 4:41 PM

Claire McCaskill speaking about Bannon today - "He's a slob! He looks like he just rolled out of bed with a hangover!" Love her.

by Anonymousreply 501November 15, 2021 9:03 PM

[quote] "He's a slob! He looks like he just rolled out of bed with a hangover!"

She's right of course, but as such he appeals directly to the bottom feeders he's messaging to activate.

by Anonymousreply 502November 15, 2021 10:06 PM

Happy Monday Maddow time!

by Anonymousreply 503November 16, 2021 1:07 AM

surprised no one commented that Katy returned today

by Anonymousreply 504November 16, 2021 4:01 AM

[quote]You mean Pete is a hack and Rachel had him sussed out in five minutes.

Rachel just hated that she wasn't the smartest person in the room. Pete made her feel inferior. Plus Rachel and her Warren stanning was just too much.

by Anonymousreply 505November 16, 2021 11:03 AM

Is Pete Williams gay?

by Anonymousreply 506November 16, 2021 11:26 AM

Is Katy Tur ever coming back or has she just turned into a full time baby making machine?

by Anonymousreply 507November 16, 2021 12:48 PM

R505, Exactly! She wasn't the only Rhodes Scholar in town.

She was so smug about the whole coming thing. She thought she was better than him because she came out at an earlier age than he did. But, it's much easier for a woman to come out than a man and coming out is a personal decision anyway. He handled her questions well, but her pettiness very uncomfortable.

Maybe, like Pete, she always dreamed of running for office but didn't have the courage he did to actually do it. Still a great achievement, but all she'll ever be is a TV pundit while he's part of a successful Presidential cabinet who made history.

by Anonymousreply 508November 16, 2021 1:17 PM

R506, yes. He was outed a long time ago.

by Anonymousreply 509November 16, 2021 1:25 PM

I only caught a glimpse of Pete with Joy last evening, but couldn't watch it. Was it a lovefest?

by Anonymousreply 510November 16, 2021 1:37 PM

Looking at that old Rachel-Pete interview again, I'm not seeing the hostility or discomfort that some others have . . .

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 511November 16, 2021 1:43 PM

No, not a lovefest R510, but she was respectful and it was a somewhat dry interview. She let him speak and only tried to interrupt twice. When he starts talking about how infrastructure will help brown and black people, you can see her tense up a bit, like he has no right to talk about those issues and she wants to challenge him, but she held back.

Not the friendliest of interviews, but not hostile, either. Just a regular interview.

by Anonymousreply 512November 16, 2021 1:55 PM

[quote] Looking at that old Rachel-Pete interview again, I'm not seeing the hostility or discomfort that some others have . . .

It's just one or two deluded fanboys on DL still crying about they Beloved Presidential Candidate not getting the red carpet, r511. Rachel was easy on him considering what a hack he is.

by Anonymousreply 513November 16, 2021 2:15 PM

But compare Rachel's interview with Pete to Rachel's early support of Amy Klobuchar which was off the charts.

by Anonymousreply 514November 16, 2021 3:27 PM

R507 She's back and on right now.

by Anonymousreply 515November 16, 2021 6:17 PM

Nicole is really being rough on Chris 'Hindenburg' Christie with her very effective questioning. He's been doing the rounds peddling his book and hoping to get some press for his potential run for the 2024 presidential race. The suit he's worn in all of today's interviews seems a bit tight on him.

by Anonymousreply 516November 16, 2021 8:38 PM

R516 She's doing a great job of getting under his skin.

by Anonymousreply 517November 16, 2021 8:53 PM

A LITTLE, R516? Nicole needs to end the interview before he bursts out of it. No one wants to see Chris Christie naked!

by Anonymousreply 518November 16, 2021 8:54 PM

Nicolle Wallace is kicking Chris Christie's fat ass live on-air, and the Schmidts (Mike and Steve), will annihilate whatever remains of the fat fuck at their first opportunity.

by Anonymousreply 519November 16, 2021 8:57 PM

Nicole is so sick of Republicans that she has become one of the best at ripping lying Republican ass. Every MSNBC and CNN interviewer who is going to allow fat fuck Christie on their shows to peddle his book should use Nicole's interview as a Master Class in Take no Prisoners. Outstanding.

I'll also reluctantly give Mika credit. She gave fat fuck enough attack dog questions this morning to make him sweat through his nasty ass cheap suit.

So, credit and kudos to two fired up women who took this man down today. Nicole was far superior but again, Mika was chewing his Hindenburg ass.

by Anonymousreply 520November 16, 2021 9:05 PM

Christie had lap-band surgery back in 2013 (or thereabouts) and his weight did decline some but he was still large. There was a special on CNN where Dana Bash interviewed him and they were walking down some boardwalk (in NJ?). I swear he looked like a hot air balloon in slacks and should he pursue any kind of presidential run, his girth is sure to take center stage. He's trying to make some coin off his book but it's contents can't be any more than we all lived through over the past Five years with the Orange Skidmark!

by Anonymousreply 521November 16, 2021 9:41 PM

by Anonymousreply 523November 17, 2021 12:19 AM

[quote]The suit he's worn in all of today's interviews seems a bit tight on him.

I don't think they make clothes big enough for him to wear a "relaxed fit" outfit.

by Anonymousreply 524November 17, 2021 12:44 AM

Maybe when Blimpeo took that grand tour trying to stir up shit on the Bidens, he stopped by Willy Wonka's factory? Brought some samples back for Deathsantis?

by Anonymousreply 525November 17, 2021 12:53 AM

Maddow time!

by Anonymousreply 526November 17, 2021 1:02 AM

Maybe the wormer worked real good on Pompeo.

by Anonymousreply 527November 17, 2021 1:34 AM

Ari looks hot tonight.

by Anonymousreply 530November 17, 2021 10:01 PM

Ari has that low key confidence. Like his dark good looks, beautiful eyes with thick lashes.

by Anonymousreply 531November 18, 2021 2:59 PM

Joe has fetal alcohol syndrome eyes. And a sphincter mouth.

Somebody please explain to me barf face Chuck Todd is still on is station. Ugly ass Republican in sheep‘s clothing. I can’t stand the son of a bitch!
