Looking for a straight white guy with tardface
That's like looking for a needle in a haystack

Have they checked the local laudrette for Mr. Laundrie?

he will be found dead
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 22, 2021 8:19 PM |
Police will find him. He will be armed and shoot at police but police will not shoot at him. They will arrest him and take him to Burger King for lunch.

Have they been checking the houseboats?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 22, 2021 8:25 PM |
I think he’s dead. I think he got scared and killed himself.

He waded into the swamp with a backpack full of raw chicken.
He ded.

Neighbors say they actually saw Brian with his family after he returned to Florida in early September.

Are there gators in that nature preserve?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 22, 2021 8:28 PM |
I’m wondering if he to,d his family he dropped Gabby off somewhere and she gave him the van. I don’t know—camping after your son comes home and tells you he killed his girlfriend sounds like a bridge too far.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 22, 2021 8:37 PM |
Perhaps he was taken by a small foreign faction.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 22, 2021 8:40 PM |
R2 Well, aren't you a sweet racist asshole there?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 22, 2021 8:46 PM |
He really needs to emerge on a random shooting spree to complete the third act of the miniseries.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 22, 2021 8:49 PM |
R10, I happened to watch that "live". Mrs. Guthrie was loving being on television.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 22, 2021 8:54 PM |
Where is the van now?
The parents might know where he is and are planning to help him get out of the country, so he can change his identity, and resuming his life somewhere else. The whole family is scum.
I can't imagine living in a boyfriend's house with his parents.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 22, 2021 8:54 PM |
What if he didn't kill her, but saw who did, took off and went into hiding because the real killer is stalking him to finish the job! Maybe it was a law enforcement officer and he is afraid to go to the police! So he is hiding out, trying to get the evidence he needs to clear his name while a one armed man...wait...nevermind. It would be more exciting than psycho white trash offs girlfriend then himself.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 22, 2021 8:56 PM |
R17, The police towed it away to look for evidence.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 22, 2021 8:59 PM |
R18, I don't believe he killed her in cold blood. I believe there was an argument, she fell and hit her head and died and he panicked and left her there.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 22, 2021 9:02 PM |
What about this piece of shit compels you to be so generous, R21?
I think he's a dead piece of shit, for the record. They're not finding him alive.

R18 = OJ Simpson
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 22, 2021 9:08 PM |
The reality is brutal, you can be sure. Seeing that young thing so distressed but full of life just weeks before her murder is very disturbing.
The creep who killed her needs to be dead, too.

Spare us more photos of Mr. Potato Head.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 22, 2021 9:18 PM |
R21, the autopsy she died by strangulation, ligature strangulation. Which implies enough premeditation to get a ligature and put it in place, and enough will to kill to keep it in place for several minutes, until poor Gabby was dead. Stop making excuses for this murderer.
Now, as to the manhunt, is there any chance he has a car? The mustang his parents bought for him, a car belonging to his parents, a junker they bought for him with cash and which hasn't been registered in his name, a car borrowed from a friend who hasn't come forward, a car belonging to another person he murdered, etc? Because if he has a car he could be in the Yukon Territory or Oaxaca by now, if he has a boat he could be anchored offshore or fishing off a caribbean sandbar. But if he's on foot, he's got to be in Florida.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 22, 2021 9:18 PM |
R21 I don't have a link, but somewhere in the last 4 threads ligature marks were noted, unless she woke up after hitting her head and someone else came along and strangled her.
Strangulation is an incredibly visceral way to kill someone, so impulse is implied, but not a given.
R24 pretty sure he is dead, as pointed out above, alligators. Doubtful he's traveling with a sawn of shotgun (tangent, watched a few episodes of some alligator hunting show years ago, when an Italian designer wanted to go out on the hunt, was quite entertaining) so he was most likely dinner.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 22, 2021 9:21 PM |
R21, He strangled Gabby, is my bet. Just grabbed her little throat to shut her TF UP! WILL YOU SHUT UP?! SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!!!!

If he's hiding in a watery swamp he became a meal for a large snake or gator.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 22, 2021 9:28 PM |
Sounds to me that he was someone who could not shut up, He killed her because she wanted out or because her extreme neediness and self-blame annoyed his grandiose self.

by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 22, 2021 9:36 PM |
Well, we'll have to find out why authorities have deemed it 'homicide'. Knife, guns, strangulation... what?
I think she cut her own throat and he buried the body and fled. He seems kinda Aspie.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 22, 2021 9:50 PM |
He's not dead, because he never came home from that "camping trip".
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 22, 2021 9:53 PM |
Strangulation, R36, that's been confirmed. She didn't kill herself.
And he could be dead, but the alligators of Florida aren't very efficient, most of them have learned that bothering humans is a bad idea. I won't be happy until that murdering leech is proven dead!

In the last thread someone linked to Brian's Pinterest page (below).
I’d call him Brianna too after looking at that girly shit. But… in his “bleak” subsection were these books: "Breakup Activity Book Zine" & "A Guide for Murdered Children"
There was also a guide for autistic people, to help them calm down because ordinary living stresses them out more than other people - like getting up, getting dressed, going to the bathroom, etc.
Weird shit!

Ok R34 - that was funny
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 22, 2021 10:46 PM |
Not everyone has the courage and ability to off themselves. He's scared and hiding and will ultimately be killed by police. That's my boring, pedestrian conclusion. If he's found and taken into custody, the media will rejoice and milk this shit for months to come. Until a Trump is indicted...
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 22, 2021 10:47 PM |
Strangulation is an incredibly visceral way to kill someone, so impulse is implied, but not a given.
But if you didn't have a gun or access to poison - how else would you plan to kill someone? I would think strangling, especially with a rope or something like that, would imply more planning than, say, a butcher knife or a hammer to the head.

by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 23, 2021 12:59 AM |
From that van photos with the photo of her flip flops and cell phone on the ground, it looks like strangulation from behind.
Maybe the van doors were open and she was getting back in the van and he strangled her from behind. Her flip flops are the first to fall off, then the phone during a struggle.
Just my simple guess.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 23, 2021 1:01 AM |
He's either dead, or off to Mexico. His parents helped him get away by suggesting the swamp. He will not be found there, or anywhere nearby.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 23, 2021 1:18 AM |
The FBI-led group of LE will continue to search doggedly in the Carlton Reserve. Considering the size (25,000 acres) and terrain of the park, this could go on indefinitely. Dive teams joined the search earlier today.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 23, 2021 1:23 AM |
R26, Where did you see an autopsy report or other confirmation of death by strangulation? Linky please!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 23, 2021 1:27 AM |
His parents helped him escape long before Gabby was reported missing. This piece of shit is long gone, and his parents have provided nothing but distractions to law enforcement. Allegedly.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 23, 2021 1:29 AM |
He's dead. It is close to impossible to travel without being detected these days, and it is close to impossible to survive outdoors in Florida this long, without being seen or heard. They will find his body out there and it will be over.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 23, 2021 1:41 AM |
He’s got small dick face, so no loss.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | September 23, 2021 1:44 AM |
R61, the only place I've seen that reported is here, by the reliable DL family.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | September 23, 2021 1:45 AM |
R63 Agreed. Im sure he left on his own and his family assumes he’s off somewhere but he probably went somewhere to kill himself.
He doesn’t strike me as the type who would be capable of handling prison. He’s an arty hippie nerd who’s probably well aware of what he’s done and it’s consequences.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 23, 2021 1:47 AM |
R66. So who is gonna inherit his buttplug collection.
Never mind…the FBI.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 23, 2021 1:49 AM |

I tend to agree r63. Unless he left the country under a fake passport, he would have been tracked. I can’t imagine fake passports are easy to come by, though. Any DL criminals who can weigh in?

His parents’ home is very close to the gulf. I’m thinking he’s in Mexico, with a pocketful of cash.

by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 23, 2021 2:06 AM |
R66 Well it looks like he was some sort of artist / graphic designer and the video I saw of them, he was doing his morning yoga and was barefoot in all the photos. I’m getting artsy hippie vibes from all of that.

by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 23, 2021 2:08 AM |
This guy had plenty of time to decide where to go and how to go there. He didn't panic run into a swamp. He had a long time to disguise himself before he bolted. Now it is possible the simplest solution is true. He went tot he swamp and slit his own throat. Maybe he had never told his parents about the murder.

by Anonymous | reply 99 | September 23, 2021 5:46 AM |
The whole murder seems poorly executed. He could have gone to Denver and hopped a flight to some remote backwater like Turkmenistan, he could have driven to Mexico, He could hide in a wilderness nowhere near Wyoming or Florida. For some reason he drove back to Florida all but admitting that he killed her, then he goes and hides in an alligator infested swamp.

R100, as R80 already said, airports aren't an option.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | September 23, 2021 7:21 AM |
Here's my analysis.
1. Brian returned to his parents' home in Gabby's van, without Gabby, around September 3. My guess is that Brian told his parents what happened almost immediately upon his return.
2. Gabby's parents didn't report her missing until September 11. Why? Likely because they had been trying to communicate with her by phone, but of course she was already dead and Brian had her phone. Gabby's parents also tried to contact Brian, but he wasn't answering them. They probably finally contacted Brian's parents, who admitted that Gabby hadn't returned. Who knows what story Brian's family fed to Gabby's family.
3. This was a period of 8 days. Plenty of time for Brian to disappear with his family's help.
4. According to Brian's family, Brian drove off in his Mustang to the Carlton Reserve on September 14 to go "hiking." They claimed he never returned. Yet they went to pick up the car there within 24 hours and brought it back to their home. How did they know where it was parked? Also, no others except for Brian's own family claim to have seen Brian head to the Reserve. This is why so many people disbelieve Brian's parents' claim that he ever went to the Reserve in the first place. More likely, one of Brian's family members drove the car to the reserve and the family retrieved it later as part of their contrived narrative (falsely reported) to law enforcement.
4. This was a total of at least 11 days from when Brian returned up until LE made contact with the Laundrie family. This was *plenty* of time for Brian to disappear almost anywhere.
5. At least one of the Laundries' neighbors claim to have seen the Laundrie family, including Brian, go on a 3-day "camping trip" during this time period. Did Brian ever return? Or, more likely, did his parents take him somewhere? Assuming they drove for 1.5 days each way, they could've taken him almost anywhere.
My guess is that Brian is nowhere near Florida anymore. He could've taken a boat on the Gulf Coast and headed anywhere. Or he could've crossed over to Mexico. Or he could be with anyone or hiding anywhere by now. But I truly believe he's alive because people have reported online "footprints" (signing on to Spotify with Gabby's account, etc), and I believe that he's too much of a coward to commit suicide.
And I truly think that Brian's family have led LE on a wild goose chase of massive proportions.

Haul the parents in for questioning.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | September 23, 2021 8:06 AM |
The FBI has already questioned the parents at their home.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | September 23, 2021 8:43 AM |
Brian is, still, a "person of interest.," not a suspect. If authorities charge Brian in Gabby's death, that would make him a fugitive, and anybody who may be helping him evade authorities would then be committing a crime themselves. But without a charge, Brian is free to run, and other people, in theory, can legally help him hide.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | September 23, 2021 9:10 AM |
As unfortunate as it is, blaming the police for not predicting this outcome is wrong. Hauling youth in and charging them for assault for every small infraction, drunken or mental outburst, or escalating a skirmish into criminal charges would leave a black mark on those just starting out in life. It would also overwhelm an already clogged court system. Thank God they didn’t have body cameras when I was in my 20’s!
This would haunt people the rest of their lives and show up on their record and limit housing, employment, as well as personal relationships- later on in life, influencing decisions even decades later. It could sway a judge’s decision of custody, be the reason they lose their lease or fall into homelessness.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | September 23, 2021 9:23 AM |
Do you know how many true crime shows (not stuff like NCIS) where they pull in random people for questioning based on "last known person to see" the missing individual? Not the dead person, the MISSING person. This guy already had WAY more against him besides that...driving home HER vehicle and lawyering up as soon as he came back to town.
Even if he ended up saying he wasn't going to answer questions, they NEVER even bothered. I'd say that's pretty shitty detective work. There is the chance he might have broken down. And they could have warned him not to leave town.
It just seems like piss poor police work, honestly.
Then the FBI must not be very serious or they're seriously fucking up the case. Which is pretty much the usual for the fbi

R108, a lot of local police departments, especially in low-tax states like Florida, don't have the best training. The FBI came in and took over when it was clear that the locals couldn't handle it.

Why? Your body is that bad?
by Anonymous | reply 111 | September 23, 2021 10:24 AM |
I'm angry about the police work locally, but the truth is, it extends beyond the FL police...it extends to the traffic stop way back in which the officers weren't appropriately updated that the source reported the female in the report was being assaulted, not him. They focused on HIM as the victim citing scratches on his body that could have been from her DEFENDING HERSELF. She seemed really emotional and he seemed really calm. Didn't that seem odd to them at all??!!
By the time he got back to FL, she was long dead. The autopsy will bear that out.

I've been thinking the same thing, but it all hinges on whether the North Port police really saw him on the 12th when they went to get the van or not. Someone reported that they had seen him, however, I haven't seen the claim repeated in any other news articles, so I'm thinking it was a mistake or poor wording. The Sun quotes the police as saying the parents wouldn't make Brian available to talk, so maybe they didn't see him at all and parents just said he was there, when he wasn't.

r116 i'm absolutely sure that this shitty man-child came back to his parents. If he hadn't, why wouldn't they just come out and say they had had no contact with him and hoped he was okay?? Also reports that he came back and got a lawyer immediately.
So, nope on that. He came back. So the sighting is a non-issue. He was back in town and he lawyered-up.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | September 23, 2021 10:59 AM |
Oh, I'm sure he returned initially, r118, I meant I wasn't sure he returned after he and his parents went on a 3-day camping trip. If he didn't come back from the camping trip (i.e. the camping trip was really a "get Brian out of the country" trip) he might not have been there on the 12th when the police took Gabby's van.

Gotcha, r119. That "camping trip" was a bunch of bs, as was their assertion he went hiking at that preserve. They need to spend some time in a Fed lock-up for their lies and obvious obstruction of justice.

The Laundries neighbors in FL saw him out and about with his parents after Sept 1st, when he returned: out riding bikes with his mother, working on the camper in the driveway. So he was there for a time. He supposedly left on the 3-day trip with his parents a week later, but wasn't seen after their return home. It's fair to speculate perhaps they drove him someplace during that trip, and dropped him off.

[R103], thanks for taking the time to break down your theory. One thing that screams 'complete idiot' is signing on to social media if you're trying to disappear. Why is it necessary to sign on to social media? It reminds me of the female lead character in John Grisham's 'The Pelican Brief' who disappeared, but was later found by Grisham's macho male lead character du moment. The female character was amazed he was able to trace her. He told her simply by following her credit card receipts.
This case has echoes of Scott and Lacey Peterson.

Restaurant incident mentioned at R148:
Nina Angelo told CNN on Wednesday that she and her boyfriend, Matt England, saw a "commotion" as Petito and Laundrie were leaving The Merry Piglets Tex-Mex restaurant on August 27.
Angelo said Petito was in tears and Laundrie was visibly angry, going into and out of the restaurant several times, continuing to show anger toward the staff around the hostess stand.
The couples' waitress was also visibly shaken by the incident, according to Angelo, who told CNN she did not see any violence or physical altercation between Petito and Laundrie.
A manager at The Merry Piglets told CNN that she did see "an incident" at the restaurant and called the FBI on Wednesday. The manager declined to give CNN her name or describe what happened and said the restaurant did not have surveillance video of the incident.
When asked by CNN whether they had received a tip about Petito and Laundrie's presence at The Merry Piglets, an FBI spokesperson responded, "To protect privacy, we do not comment on contacts that FBI has or has not had with any individuals."

It's not. Nearly every thread on here has a pretty significant segment of people who talk about taking basic human rights away from various groups. DLers frequently fill up threads talking about their fantasy world where no one would be allowed to breed without their permission, where women wouldn't be allowed to work, where immigrants and homeless would be jailed for life because they're an inconvenience, where only the right kind of people would get due process.
“She had a lot of anxiety about being away from him, I honestly thought if anything was going to change it would be after they got home to Florida.” In the end, Petito stayed with Laundrie.
“This wasn't a good day for anybody. We thought we were making the right decision when we left them.”
And on Sunday, when she heard the news that the FBI recovered a body in Wyoming “consistent with the description of Gabby Petito,” the law enforcement ranger of 17 years tilted her head back and let out a sigh of someone all too familiar with a body recovery effort.

Another point to note: The Laundrie family claims that Brian headed into the Reserve on September 14; [italic] however, [/italic] they didn't report him missing to the authorities until Friday, September 17, thus buying Brian an extra 3 days.

I remember a famous case from years ago, a horrific serial killer killed a bunch of women, but Canada wouldn't extradite him to the US because it was against Canadian law to extradite anyone to a country where they'd face the death penalty.
And here someone who looks a lot like Laundrie turns up in a country with no death penalty and perhaps no extradition for death penalty crimes, after he allegedly committed at least one premeditated murder, in a state where the death penalty is on the books. Holy shit the Laundrie parents have a lot to answer for, betcha they plotted to give him time and a car that he didn't own, legal advice about where to go, money to live on, etc. He murdered a girl they KNEW, someone who'd lived with them for a year or two, and here they are helping her murderer get away with it.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | September 23, 2021 10:43 PM |
Here's an old article saying that Canada won't extradite anyone who faces the death penalty, but I'm not going to have time to keep digging about the current extradition policies of our great neighbor to the north.
So yeah, my guess is that Landrie's parents got him some good legal advice and the time and money to make it to the border, and he's alive and unrepentant and is going to spend the rest of his worthless life creating expensive legal nightmares for others.

Yes, R195, we want the Laundriers to realize they've created a monster who's killed 1-3 women, turn him in, and spend the rest of their lives repenting their actions in both helping him escape and bringing him up, questioning where the hell they went wrong in raising their son, and making some sort of restitution to society at large. Like helping people escape from abusive relationship before they get killed.
As it is, he's already ruined their reputations and left them to face serious criminal charges, and if I'm right and he's alive, he's going to spend the rest of his life bleeding them dry, demanding endless money from them, because he either needs money to live on the lam or he needs someone to pay his lawyers. Turning him in is not only the right thing to do, it's the only way they can save themselves from utter ruin at his hands.

R186: It wasn't just the staff. A couple seated near Gabby & Brian also said it was Aug 27th, between 1-2 pm.
For those trying to keep track of where this fits in timeline:
Aug 27th, 6:00 pm: Gabby's van was seen parked in the Spread Creek Camping Area (about 40 miles north of Merry Piglet) by the Bethune family, in the now famous Go-Pro video with flip-flops by the back door.
Aug 27th, time unknown: Gabby's mom received a text message in which Gabby (or "Gabby") very uncharacteristically refers to her Grandpa by his first name. ("Can you help Stan, I just keep getting his voicemails and missed calls." )
Aug 29th, 5:45 pm : Brian (allegedly) picked up while hitch-hiking by Miranda Baker & her boyfriend. Offers $200 for ride to Jackson, says been camping alone for three days (although he's very clean) while fiancee works on their website at their van. He insists being dropped off 25 minutes later.
Aug 30th, time unknown: Gabby's mom receives a text from Gabby's phone which read: “No service in Yosemite.”

From the article at R211:
Florida law does not allow parents to be charged as accessories after the fact in a third degree felony in crimes involving their children
A note about this: Laundrie is currently charged with a third degree felony for using Gabby’s debit cards, murder is not a third degree felony, if Brian is charged with murder his parents could be charged with being accessories after the fact.
Relevant quote from Reddit:
If Gabby's death is deemed an unlawful killing, Florida will not be prosecuting it. No essential component of the crime took place there. If Gabby's death is deemed an unlawful killing, and that took place on federal land -- federal government has exclusive jurisdiction. If there was going to be an accessory charge (emphasize "IF") it is most likely that federal government would bring it.

His parents sent the search into the swamp so my wild guess about his location is — wait for it — anywhere but there. Which leaves what? Tramping around Mexico seems easier to do than reaching and entering Canada undetected. He’d never stick out in any of the urban homeless encampments I’ve seen on the west coast, especially if he really does “hear voices,” and the family’s three-day camping trip looked like they cached stuff somewhere for him. So does he have a tent and good shoes now? Food? Money?

Im still doubtful he made it out of the U.S. Like I was saying before, it is incredibly difficult to travel such a distance without leaving any evidence or being seen on multiple cameras. Yeah you might get to the border but you will be detected by someone or something before you make there.
Also law enforcement would have better leads by now, 4-5 days later, if he indeed made it to a border. The fact they they are still searching in the preserve tells me they don't have very many good leads yet. Im surprised this didn't turn out to be anything.

At some point, it seems that law enforcement could get a warrant for the cell phone records of Brian and his parents. They could see where they were over those 3 days. Perhaps Brian didn't take his, but I'd bet one of the 3 family members had a cell phone with them on this 3-day "camping trip." I wonder if law enforcement just can't get those records yet?

I saw John Walsh on tv (youtube clip, can't remember the show) - he was advising Brian, if he's watching, to kill himself and spare Gabby's parents the torture of a trial and having to see autopsy photos and such. He's had a dozen good leads out of a couple hundred (?) - he has a show on the ID channel and did an episode on this case. He has two theories now - one is that Brian is repeating a campout in the Appalachians (which he once did for 3 months) or (2) a boat to the Virgin Islands or Bahamas?
He thinks the camper in the driveway was put on that truck, and the creepy parents took Brian somewhere (maybe to Gulf of Mexico to get on a boat) - they left the day Gabby was reported missing. He could have sailed to Mexico and just fit in among the expats - or the Caribbean.

It makes sense for him to go to Mexico or somewhere else south of the border. It's the least traceable and easiest/closest to get to. On the other hand, Canada has the extradition rules in place, so that would be ideal.
All signs point to this family is one of those businesses that don't report their cash earnings so they had a lot of cash on hand and gave him a HUGE running start with burner phones, cash, possibly fake ID.
I kind of think John W. can really help us with this case. He is narrowed down on it.

This is such a waste of resources. It's already hit over a million dollars and climbing rapidly. They should call it off. Or get search and rescue volunteers out to do the job. He'll come out or get flushed out one way or another. Or if animals, gators or those lovely swamp snakes got him, then he is no longer an issue. If this was a serial killer on the loose that would be one thing. He may or may have not killed this woman (looks like he did but that isn't proof). He's a guy (supposedly) hiding out in one of the most inhospitable areas of the South you can imagine, if he's even there. If he has access to the news he knows where they are looking and he's most likely somewhere else entirely. Likely he's relaxing in a nice little Winnebago in the local RV park getting his Netflix on.

I’ve always felt that murderers should be pursued no matter what the cost. I am sure LE is sure he did it. Update to R205 :
Another driver picked up Brian on Aug 29th shortly after Melissa Baker & her boyfriend dropped him off. He asked for a ride to the Spread Creek camping area and fed her the same story that he'd told Baker. The woman said he was very polite and acted normally until they arrived at the entrance of the camping area.
When she offered to drive him directly to his van/campsite, he kinda freaked out and practically jumped out of her truck while it was still moving, insisting that he would walk the rest of the way. That was about 6:30 pm.

His parents had time to drive to the Mississippi coast with the cash from their business, buy him a boat, some fishing tackle, a desalinization water treatment machine, and a burner phone, and tell him to get out into international waters and stay there. Or they could have bought him a junker car and backpacking stuff with cash and told him to head for the Appalalchian trail, or the Canadian border since Canada won't extradite murderers if they face the death penalty. With the time they had and a bit of cash flow, could have bought him a fake ID or passport, burner phones, wigs, hair dye, fake glasses, new clothes, anything but plastic surgery.
THe odds are that he will be found in time, because the odds of his being killed in the woods and swamps aren't as good as I'd like. But he can't live in the wild forever, and when he comes out, we live in the world where money is electronic, IDs are required for most things, and everything is photographed. And he isn't bright or stable enough to hide for long.

R306, surely there are security cameras at least at the entrance of the nature reserve? Whether he's there now or not, either he or his parents were caught doing *something* there. Perhaps the cameras caught them going in with a backpack and coming out without the backpack; well, they are going to keep looking for that backpack.
What this says to me is that this search is not just about Gabby anymore; they are trying to get this guy on three murder counts, and in order to do that, they have to find the gun that killed the lesbians, or a phone that can prove that connection. Hope they do just that.

I agree. This sociopath killed Gabby and possibly two other women, and his indulgent fool parents have given him enough money, transport, and supplies, that he can hide for a long time. I think he'll eventually be found, and when he is, he won't kill himself, he'll try to convince the world that Gabby was crazy and what happened was all his fault.
But he's a true-blue sociopath, he's killed, and he's going to leave his own parents in his wake of destruction. They're going to face charges for obstruction of justice, the scorn of the world, the ruin of their business, and while living on the lam he's going to bleed them dry financially.

To get into Canada just as a tourist with nothing to hide, they still crawl up your asshole. You can't swan on on in. You are only allowed to take a certain amount of cash with you. They ask your ID for fucking EVERYTHING up there.
Same with Mexico. Only there,if they ask for your ID, and you either don't have it or it is not up to snuff, you are lucky if you don't get beaten half to death and/or thrown in a Mexican jail. This kid would last 4 minutes in one.
People saying he is out of the country don't understand how hard that really is to do, especially now with COVID restrictions. Also, do you know how hard it is to whip up a fake ID with the security devices that are now built in? This isn't 50 years ago. Unless the parents are themselves deeply involved in criminal activity, and can get one within a few days from a guy who knows a guy, it is just ridiculous conjecture pulled from people reading old true crime books. It is a whole new world out there.
I could almost see the RV scenario. Buy in cash from some dealer or seller on Craigslist who just wants the cash, and park it for cash at a RV park. And hey, DoorDash delivers! I read Nomadland. (Nothing like the film.) Most of these RV/Van parks are very transient friendly and don't ask questions. Also, Florida.
Curious: what is the proof or clues that he might have been involved with taking out the dead lesbian couple?

He can only do that for so long, because yes, you can buy a car for cash, but none of the Laundries dare to file for ownership under their own name. So if he's pulled over for any reason he won't be able to show a valid registration, and eventually the registration sticker will expire, and well, at that point he'll probably steal someone else's... but a car isn't a safe long-term refuge. A boat could be, if he had the patience to live on fish and desalinized water in international waters, but hurricane season is coming along and so are his "episodes of hearing voices".
Like I said, he's not smart enough to stay on the run forever, he'll be caught. But only after months or years, with the start his parents have given him.

R313, seems like one of the couple worked at a store that the Gabby/Brian visited (and perhaps had an “incident” in) around the time the two women were murdered. Since there are only so many people around and probably not that many murders, the timing is very coincidental (and maybe truly ONLY coincidental).

My guess is that he's in the Appalachians. He's camped/hiked there before for months at a time, knows the terrain, and if he stays on the southern end, the winter months might not be too bad. Also, the parents would have had plenty of time to get him situated there on a three-day "camping trip". Strongly agree that he is still in this country.

Some on Reddit have guessed NYC, and the idea does intrigue me. Everyone wears masks there, and as he has dark features I'm wondering if he might be able to blend into an ethnic community, where there are "citizenship issues" and many avoid contacting the police for any reason?

His parents will likely be the ones to lead LE to him when he's out of resources.
It's hard to hide in the mountains in winter, fire is often needed, gets reported and the tree coverage is sparse. The weather isn't working with him here.

R330 NY is an OK guess. But if I had to had to cast a vote that he is outside of FLA I wold say LA. Pitch a tent in Venice and he's golden.. He already looks like a vaguely homeless person. SF has a lot of resources for food, and shelter too. But...LA does ping to me. He won't freeze in the winter, and they also have good if not better, resources for the homeless. Third pick: Portland.
This asshole is lucky he is young and white because he can blend in just about anywhere. "Young restless youth who just needs some love and understanding" That sort of thing.

Its not just NYC. There are cameras all over the place. Like I said before, even if he can cross a border the challenge would be staying undetected before he gets there. If he's not found in a couple days my guess is that he is hiding with someone he knows.

This combined with the Portland guess made me think of Brian dying his hair/beard blue, getting one of those "bull" nose rings, wearing makeup and... like, maybe more jewelry and leather fingerless gloves (to cover the tattoos)? Trying to blend into a goth or "queer" community might not be a bad idea.

The murder twink threads were good but it's because they had people talking about the actual murders and where the murderers could have gone, not a bunch of middle-aged ladies writing sappy fanfiction about closeted gays who murder because they can't find love like on the PA Murder-Suicide thread.
The Fatty On The Lam thread was good. Soft Butch Sous Chef was very good. The missing jogger one recently was good as long as the snow shovel ladies stayed quiet. These Gabby threads haven't been bad, they're infinitely better than the Reddit threads which have gone completely off the rails. The only real problem we've had has been with people having emotional meltdowns at the suggestion that we not have 17 active threads at once about it.

Sadly there hasn't been anything really funny that I've seen r350, just the same things being said over and over, lots of goofy comments about things that aren't related to the case, the usual sarcastic bickering between Redditors that derails threads. The people complaining about Gabby being a news story got so bad they had to ban the topic of "only white girls get news coverage."
The last time I tried Reddit threads for a case (the family that died on the CA hiking trail) I got so much bad information I decided it wasn't worth it. Not sure why I tried again, in this instance there's not so much bad information as NO information over there.

That's what I thought, R411. They didn't need his DNA if they had possession of the van and his car. He'll wish the gator had eaten him when they tie him to the violent deaths of three ladies and (potentially) sexual assault as well.
Just because you claim to "hear voices" doesn't mean you get less time. Not anymore. It just means that they'll make sure you're competent to stand trial for your crimes, if they have to shove the pills down your fucking throat to do so.

Maybe you do if you want the public to keep and eye out, photograph everything possible with everything from phones to drones, and send you sightings.
But really... how reliable is this Dog character? I know he's a reality TV personality but that's all I know, which makes me assume that he's more interested in publicity than finding the target and that he's used to making up bullshit for public consumption.

The public is no good at this stuff. They post "sightings" for attention and that causes more problems than it solves. Now there's going to be a bunch of yahoos in Fort De Soto "searching" for Brian who, if he was ever even there, is long gone by now.

by Anonymous | reply 417 | September 28, 2021 4:35 AM |
Brian and his voices must have had a lot of straight boy rage towards women that Friday.
I saw someone posted his ridiculous Pintrest where he saved pics of bridal dresses he chose for Gabby under the title "My Girl", like she was his possession or some doll he wanted to dress up to show off. So creepy.
by Anonymous | reply 418 | September 28, 2021 4:37 AM |
Speaking of straight boy rage, Gabby was supposed to have met up with Rose Davis in Yosemite. She never contacted her on social media, even though it was Rose' birthday Aug 29.
Rose claims she saw Brian's abusive side and was trying to get Gabby away from him. Internet posters believe Rose to be bisexual and that there's was a love triangle of which Brian may or may not have been a participant. In any case there's a question of Gabby and Rose were more than just friends. All of this could be just wild speculation and fantasies on the part of the authors.

There was a wedding party with over 100 guests held the night the lesbian couple were shot. Although LE were given all of the contact info for the guests, wedding coordinators, and party employees none were ever contacted. Speculation as to why the ball was seemingly dropped abounds.

R421, In a very small town participants of a huge wedding party where guests and employees hung around for the entire weekend there would likely have been multiple interactions with the lesbian couple at some point.
One worked at the only grocery store/deli in town and the other at the McDonald's. Some of the attendees camped for the weekend at the same area the couple were staying. Likely they could have seen or heard something unusual.
Not just my opinion but the views of the wedding party who reached out to the lesbians' loved ones once they found out about the tragedy.

I think the bogus-text sent to Gabby's mom on Aug. 30 ("No service, in Yosemite") was actually kind of brain-fart on Brian's part and he meant to type Yellowstone.

It’s a shame the murders of the lesbian couple have been pretty much overlooked except as they might relate to Laundrie. Back in the day, they could have been Michfest campers.
That said, doesn’t it sound like they were being stalked by some weirdo? I don’t see how Laundrie would have had time to hang around their campground being “creepy” with his girlfriend in tow.

Moab is small, but not that small. Moonflower is a small co-op in the downtown area, but there's a Village Market right next door to the McDonalds where Crystal worked and a City Market (Kroger) about a quarter mile down the road.
Yep. Both were half naked when found. Sick fuck.
Horrible. From the first search warrant:
In a nearby creek, two female bodies were found. The bodies were identified as belonging to Crystal Turner and her wife Kylen Schulte. Both women were undressed from the waist down. One of the females had on a bra that was raised to expose her breasts while the second female was dressed in only a tank top. Investigators located multiple gunshot wounds on both bodies. The wounds were located on the backs, sides, and/or chests of the victims. It should be noted that these two females were reported as missing on Monday August 16, 2021.

Laundrie is a Scorpio, Gabby was a Pisces.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | September 28, 2021 7:28 AM |
I asked this before and never received an answer (or i missed it). Were their bodies found IN THE CREEK? like in the running water or BY the creek? If IN the creek that would speak to someone who would try to be washing away evidence (sperm). After awhile, the sperm ejaculated would likely expel from the body depending how long it took to find bodies after death.
Also, if it was Brian who killed these women, how the hell did he find them on foot without a car? they were in a van as well...i'm sure they didn't drive just a mile or 2 from town and he somehow found them? How would he know where they were going unless he overheard them on their camp spot? that seems a big what if to me.
Not saying it's not a possibility, just that there are a couple of holes in the theory here.
by Anonymous | reply 430 | September 28, 2021 7:31 AM |
It says "in" the creek, and Kylen's father posted on Facebook that they had indeed been sexually assaulted.
Also, he said during a tv interview that the creepy guy had set up camp too close to theirs and they were planning on moving to a different spot, but never had the chance. I don't remember if someone asked about it here, but I know there was some question about whether or not they had actually moved.
Moab Police Chief Bret Edge has taken a leave of absence as of Monday, city officials confirmed.

by Anonymous | reply 434 | September 28, 2021 8:50 AM |
They answered a lot of questions, but the one thing that was never addressed was what the dispatcher had told the officers. The investigation into the police response started on Thursday, which led to the release of the recording of the dispatcher saying: "RP states seeing male hit a female, domestic." And now Bret Edge is on leave with no further comment.
Prior to the recording coming out, they were happy to let the media run with the idea that the witness's report of Gabby being hit hadn't been relayed to the responding officers. One of many examples:
“A gentleman was slapping the girl,” the caller tells dispatchers. “They ran up and down the sidewalk. He proceeded to hit her, hopped in the car, and they drove off.”
Why that information was not relayed is unclear. Moab police did not respond to a request to comment.

I'm not the person who posted about the wedding, but Whispering Oaks Ranch and its rental cabins are very close to their campsite.
If you want to see the distance, search either [bold]38°30'25.2"N 109°20'28.1"W[/bold] or [bold]38°30'28.2"N 109°20'29.8"W[/bold] on satellite view. Kylen's father said their campsite was in that location, between two trees, right next to the creek. There are only two sets of double trees there.
It's eerily quiet when you get out into the boonies in that area; when there is a sound, it really stands out. It's shocking that the police didn't bother talking to anyone from the wedding. Maybe they have by now. Who knows.

I'm guessing the police department probably has between 15-20 employees, and that's including office staff. The sheriff's department is in Moab and that's also very small. There isn't much major crime and the hiker rescues and other things requiring manpower tend to happen on federal land.
The Moab area is the least Mormon part of Utah, but they overcompensate by having something that rest of Utah lacks — a fundie polygamist sect. Even better, it's a fundie polygamist sect whose members live in houses carved into the side of sandstone cliffs. Some are flush with the rock while others have the facade of a normal house, but only a few feet deep.

[bold] Witness Says Brian Laundrie Was 'Angry At The World' While Drinking Alone [/bold]
Brian Laundrie was reportedly drinking by himself at a bar in Montana just one day before Gabby Petito was last seen alive. On August 26, Hunter Mannies, 44, and his friend went to Bullwinkle's Saloon in West Yellowstone and saw Laundrie sitting alone at the end of the bar.
"I didn't pay attention to him other than that he and this other couple were the only ones in there," Mannies told the New York Post.
Mannies said that he and his friend sparked up a conversation with the other couple while Laundrie listened in.
"He was overly invested in our conversation. We felt watched," Mannies said. "He wasn't talking to the bartenders. He was there alone. It just stood out as odd."
At one point, Laundrie interjected himself into their conversation.
"The guy just looked mad and then at some lull in the conversation, he said, 'Stupid southerners and f****** Republicans.'"
Mannies said his friend took exception to the comment and called out Laundrie, pointing out that he and another woman at the bar were both doctors. After a brief back and forth, Laundrie returned to his drink and didn't bother them the rest of the night.
"He was just mad at the world it seemed like," Mannies said, adding this his friend thought Laundrie "had that serial killer look."
Mannies said that he contacted the FBI and spent about 45 minutes discussing the encounter with Laundrie.
Petito was last seen alive the next day at a restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, which is about 120 miles away. Her remains were discovered in Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest, and her death was ruled a homicide.
Laundrie is a person of interest in the case but has not been named as a suspect. He refused to cooperate with the investigation and has since disappeared. Authorities have been searching a nature reserve near his Florida home but have not had any luck locating him. "Dog the Bounty Hunter: has joined the search and claims he has information about Laundrie's whereabouts.

I mean if people can get years of low-budget reality TV digging for treasure that they hope they'll never find, because that would mean the end of the show, then people like this TV bounty hunter can spend years capitalizing on the search for this murderer.

since the Petito family enjoys the spotlight so much let's delve into the fact that Gabby had to get a restraining order for her last boyfriend. She seemed to gravitate towards abusers. This would be because she was comfortable with them and I would guess that stems from her upbringing. Whether she was abused or her mother was abused this was her comfort zone. She most likely would have ended up dead eventually because she always picked the same man, just with a different face.
I wonder how many more press conferences we are going to get from them.
I feel bad for Brian's family. What if they didn't help him? What if they didn't know what was going on? What if Brian came home and told them? I can't imagine how their hearts would have sunk into their stomach's. This is not how Any parent wants their kid to turn out.
I hope some of the posters on this thread never sit on a jury. Some have come to all their own conclusions about what happened, how it was done, who was involved and what the punishment should be and they did this without having any actual facts except that Gabby is dead.

It wouldn't have been a good idea for Brian to stay in Fort DeSoto park, which is a very small area surrounded by open ocean and attached to a built-up peninsula, he could easily be cornered there by a well-staffed search.
If he thought he was going to be hunted he'd have been much smarter to go further north along Florida's west coast, where there are infinite numbers of small islands, channels, swamps, wetlands, etc. If he had fishing tackle and a gun he might actually be able to live off the land, until the voices came back and told him to go play in the traffic.

R478, I don't feel bad about Brian's family. Okay, I could excuse them helping him at first, before they knew what happened, and maybe he told them a plausible lie about her going off with another guy after giving him the van, and maybe they helped him at first believing he's innocent. But now they know she's dead, and the cops/FBI has undoubtedly told them exactly how she was murdered. and this was a girl they KNEW. She lived with them for a year or two!
So a young woman they knew has been murdered, and they still aren't cooperating with the search for the killer. Even if they believe that Brian is innocent they should be telling the truth to the FBI so his name can be cleared, but all that's come from them is silence and misdirection. They are helping their son get away with murdering an innocent person they knew well themselves.

I bet you think you'd be a good person if you helped your kid escape the consequences of murdering an innocent person, but there's a reason that society has criminalized obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting. and it's not just because he'd be free to commit more crimes. It's you'd metaphorically sticking knives into the murder victims loved ones, spitting on the grave of an innocent person, and making society that much more dangerous and lawless. Could you tell us more about her upbringing that led you to this conclusion?
Whether she was abused or her mother was abused this was her comfort zone.
Again, empirical evidence based on knowledge of this family is warranted. Also, could you please recite statistics about formerly abused women and their current comfort zones? Unless you want to sound like you're blaming Gabby and her mother or victims in general.
She most likely would have ended up dead eventually because she always picked the same man, just with a different face.
Ultimate blaming the victim because this poster thinks it is smarter or more prescient than the entire community of psychologists, social scientists or statisticians familiar with the etiology of domestic violence, incidence, prevalence, etc.
How big is the police force?
I posted my guess at R447 but then I started wondering about it myself.
The Moab Police Department has twenty-one employees. There are fifteen officers (chief, lieutenant, two sergeants, three detectives, and eight patrol officers) as well as six civil employees.
Grand County Sheriff's Department has twenty-five officers and eleven civil employees, plus thirty-one search-and-rescue employees available on an on-call basis.
Between 2000 and 2020, there were three murders in Moab; one each in 2010, 2011, and 2018. They were nothing like what's happened in 2021. The first was a fight in a parking lot, the second was a dispute between two business partners from Denver, and the third was a shooting during the attempted robbery of a drug house.

If Brian is hiding on one of the islands off of Fort Desoto Park, they need to drive him crazy with music like what the US govt did with Noriega. A drone with a louder speaker could circle the islands 24/7 playing these songs until Brian gives up:
* Chapel of Love
* We've Only Just Begun (The Carpenters)
* I Love My Baby Back,Baby Back Ribs (Chili's song)
* Anything by Ted Nugent
* Loser (Beck)
What are your suggestions?

I totally understand speculation but this kind of stuff really crosses a line, especially since she was only 22. It's an ugly, grotesque thing to say and I don't know why anyone would even type that out, as if this was a normal, everyday opinion.
Hard for me to condemn the Laundries at this point, with no real facts coming to light. No telling what or when Brian told them, period.
I think it's possible that Brian told them some kind of tall tale at first and they believed it. At some point they'd have started asking questions, though, like why she hadn't come back to get the van and why the parents were saying she was missing. By the time the cops turned up for the van, they weren't letting Brian talk to the police, and now there's a serious chance he wasn't even there at the home at the time and the parents lied to the police and said he was.
Plus that week spent emptying out the storage unit is super suspicious.
Sources connected to the manhunt for Laundrie tell TMZ ... FBI agents recently visited an AT&T store in North Port, FL -- where Laundrie's parents live -- and seized surveillance footage.
We're told Brian allegedly went to the store September 14 with an older woman and purchased the phone before they left.
The timing is significant because Sept. 14 is the date Laundrie's parents claim they last saw him leaving their home. They say he had his backpack and was going to a nearby nature reserve, but never returned. They reported him missing Sept. 17.
We reached out to the North Port AT&T store, where an employee told us she could not confirm or deny Brian was there Sept. 14 and said she was told not to discuss the matter. Three comments from Reddit:
Laundrie parents — my take as a mom
As parents, you will help your young adult kids, but at some point you cut them off if they are assholes or threaten to ruin the whole family. Here is pure speculation, but what I intuitively believe:
1. I think Brian had fuck-ups in the past and probably had a drug issue at some point. His dad had his own business, probably worked hard, and probably could never understand his lazy, airy-fairy, melon-loving son. His dad was probably very disappointed in Brian and his lack of career ambitions.
2. Dad tells Brian he isn’t funding his pie-in-the sky van life trip.
3. Brian has to rely on Gabby for the car, her phone, and her money for the trip, which contributes to the growing tension — his ego can’t take it. (If you will remember, his outburst in that final restaurant was about overcharging him. Plus, he had to use her debit card for money to get back.)
4. He arrives home without Gabby and eventually makes himself out to be the victim. His mom is desperate to help him. The dad is furious.
5. Parents arrive at a compromise with each other. They will give him some cash, supplies, and a head start, but after that he is on his own.
6. I think the dad is done with Brian.
*************
He’s not on the run because that’s how he made mistakes. He’s hiding in one place and someone is taking care if him.
**************
Given the attorneys comment confirming the phone being purchased and left behind (and now in FBI custody), combined with previous speculation about BLs older phone not being in great working order, I would have been open to possibility of the phone purchase being just a routine upgrade and not a burner phone. But if it were a routine upgrade, then why would the lawyer be so informed about the detail around its being purchased? You don’t report routine electronic purchase to your attorney unless it was of material interest. Based on the attorney’s involvement, I suspect there was motive to evade behind the purchase, thus making it a phone purchased with certain intent, a “burner phone”. Devil’s advocate — the attorney may have found out about the phone only as part of the summary of artifacts seized by the FBI and the comments of it being a new phone may have surfaced in that conversation, but the possibility is small. Likely the attorney knows more about the phone beyond what his statement shows.

I keep thinking about the Laundrie house in Florida only being 1400 square feet. Who buys a house that small? Especially with two grown kids who are likely to visit and spend time there? And also running a business out of the home that might require space - like juicing equipment or whatever it was??
They can't have much money imo. And so they can't come up with a large amount of money to fund Brian's life on the lam (or that stupid cross-country van trip)
by Anonymous | reply 551 | September 29, 2021 9:57 PM |
"As parents, you will help your young adult kids, but at some point you cut them off if they are assholes or threaten to ruin the whole family."
Sadly, for them and everyone, Brian's parents seem bent on letting him ruin the entire family. If they're as actively engaged in as much obstruction of justice as they seem to be, they're going to face jail time, the ruin of their business, and the scorn of their neighbors and the Court of Public Opinion. All in an attempt to save Brian from the consequences of his actions, accomplishing nothing more than enabling him to live as a hunted criminal with the world against him.
So no, I don't believe that speculation above about Brian's parents being done with him, their actions don't bear that out.

So the Laundrie's own "a lot of properties" in addition to a juice machine business, and upthread, someone said three boats? Not poor, definitely, but some people who juggle properties and businesses are always close to the edge of disaster, they're overleveraged or underinsured or their tax returns are implausible works of fiction, and if the make a mistake or miscalculate risk their little empire collapses.
And everything about their recent actions bespeaks overconfidence and a lack of realism.
