I looked up the quote Ben had in his post because I like puzzles too much and found this article discussing the interview it was from, related to Bob Dylan’s definition of immortality. I still have no idea what the fuck he’s up to but the Pyrrha “Be Here Now” necklace he’s always wearing lately reads 'Ni Regret Du Passe Ni Peur De L'Avenir' in French, meaning 'Neither Regret the Past nor Fear the Future'. The website says “It serves as a reminder of the happiness available to us if we live in the present.”

He has used necklaces related to his projects before like his eclipse necklace and unfortunately probably Julianne’s necklace, so I wonder if this is related too.

It made me think of this book I read a few years ago that was actually really good and I thought at the time it would make a great movie. SunnyMarch, a production company partially run by Benedict Cumberbatch and partially owned by StudioCanal, acquired the rights to How to Stop Time prior to the book’s release in 2017.

Maybe Ben is doing this? We know he loves book adaptations. But he’s already currently playing the immortal Darkling so I’m not sure he would do something else about immortality so soon.

R5 I've touched on this before, but I wonder if Ben realizes what that necklace's sentiment says to anyone else. "Don't regret the past." So don't ever learn from your mistakes. In fact, don't ever even acknowledge that you made a mistake. It just is what it is. Because if you did, you might not feel happy in the present. Never remember, never analyze, never learn, never regret, or feel remorse, or feel guilt. You are blameless in your past because your only concern is being happy in your present. "Don't fear the future." So don't ever worry about consequences. Don't ever consider how you might affect those around you. Don't ever worry that you might hurt yourself or others. Never analyze, never consider, never plan, because if things even start getting rough you can just cut and run. Your only concern is being happy in your present, and if your situation doesn't contribute to that anymore, you'll just leave. Consequence free. And the rough patch will be in your past, where you never have to regret or learn from it. Life is all about short term gains, end of story.

It's the epitome of selfishness. Of sociopathy. A callous disregard for everything and everyone else. It lacks all kindness, all compassion, all empathy. You would have to be so monumentally naive and stupid to ever trust someone that believes and behaves that way. And Ben not only originally identified with it, but continues to wear a daily reminder to achieve it around his neck.

So many people are anxious about what’s going to happen next without taking time to enjoy the present. But I could be totally wrong

It doesn’t mean don’t ever think about the future or past at all, it just means don’t let it control your present too much. But coupled with some of the idiotic things JH has said about her life philosophy, it looks selfish by association I guess

And there's nothing necessarily wrong with living in the present. Enjoy the little things as you find them. But what I'm talking about, is the mindset this necklace imparts. It's all about shrinking your worldview to focusing exclusively on your happiness in the present. Don't worry if you made mistakes trying to achieve it previously, and don't worry if you'll make mistakes in the future trying to achieve it again. Just achieve it now, nothing else matters. That's the mindset. An excuse to behave however you want at all times. Because nothing matters except your immediate present, and whether or not its happy.

(Also anyone know for sure how cameo works? People pay you for a personal video, sure. But do you send it directly to them, or do you upload it to your channel and provide them a link? Or is your channel a separate thing that you can choose to save to on occasion if you want? Something else? That info would help narrow down when the cameo was filmed.)

I’m not super familiar with Cameo but I’m pretty sure the ability to publicly save/display previous videos on a celeb’s profile is relatively new, because the one and only time I ever used Cameo to buy a bday message for a friend was in April 2021 and I don’t remember seeing those. But I didn’t spend a lot of time on it so someone who’s more familiar may correct me. However even if that was a newish feature that doesn’t necessarily mean any videos posted were current or made after that launched, because they might have archived videos similar to how Instagram stories are archived, and you can choose which ones to highlight more permanently on your profile.

In a slight change of subject, I received the unfortunate birthday news yesterday of testing positive with a breakthrough case of covid (after being fully vaccinated with Pfizer since May so don’t come at me as an antivaxer) so I’m fully quarantined for 2 weeks.
