Joanne Worley as the china cabinet in "Beauty and the Beast" nearly made me pee my pants.

So is Liz Sheridan, who played Jerry’s mother. She claims she was briefly engaged to James Dean in 1952.

Dizzy Sheridan was Dean’s hag.

The fabulous Robert Clary, who I was just thinking of this morning. Known for playing the adorable Corporal Louis LeBeau on Hogan's Heroes, and in real life a survivor of Buchenwald concentration camp.

He also had quite a singing career and ended up marring Eddie Cantor's daughter.

95 and still going. Now, watch, he'll pop his clogs. NO!

Love him. And he is the last one standing from the original cast.

by Anonymousreply 123June 18, 2021 4:32 AM

Angela Lansbury died in 2016. My granny cried half the day. She thought of Angie as a mother. We had to give her some whiskey while she sang along to Sweeney Todd and applied dark eye liner and orange red lipstick outside her lip line. After a few drinks, Granny laughed and said that Angela Lansbury was also a drunk! Notoriously so. RIP.

by Anonymousreply 124June 18, 2021 4:44 AM

I met Joanne Worley several years ago at a CELEBRITY AUTIOBIOGRAPHY performance in Los Angeles. She was the hostess/m.c. of the event, which benefitted Actors & Others for Animals.

I bid on (but, sadly, did not win) a luncheon with the "Ladies Who Lunch" -- a group of older actresses that get together for lunch once a month. The group included Joanne, Florence Henderson (who performed that night) and Charlotte Rae. I'd had a few drinks & wanted it BAD! Joanne took a photo with me afterward and thanked me driving up the bidding....because it was all for the animals. I love her.

Sorry, I accidentally hit "Post" above before getting to my story.

Anyway, at one point in the early 90's, my father said to me, "Have you heard of a group called the Rolling Stones?". I answered "Yes, why?" and he said "I saw a picture of them in the paper the other day. They look absolutely frightening -- it's shocking, they must be very sick."

And he showed me the picture; it was the one I posted above, or one like it.

Pat Hitchcock, Alfred Hitchcock's daughter. He put her in some of his films. She was born in 1928. Was watching a documentary about Alfred Hitchcock and she was delightful. I can't believe I actually said delightful.

by Anonymousreply 317July 20, 2021 3:23 AM

I loved Pat Hitchcock in Strangers on A Train. That sort of nepotism wasn't big back then and she was no beauty - but she was fascinating in her role. She'd be a more popular actress today. It's one of Hitchcock's best films. How nice that she's still here.

by Anonymousreply 318July 20, 2021 3:32 AM

Pat was also on a bunch of episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents

by Anonymousreply 319July 20, 2021 3:33 AM

The usual mindless DL generalization. Joanne Woodward is a best actress Oscar winner, and since the death of Olivia de Havilland, the oldest living best actress winner. Not to mention her having been famously married to Paul Newman for many years. People under 60 with even a passing interest in movies know who she is.
