Joanne Worley as the china cabinet in "Beauty and the Beast" nearly made me pee my pants.

So is Liz Sheridan, who played Jerry’s mother. She claims she was briefly engaged to James Dean in 1952.

Dizzy Sheridan was Dean’s hag.

The fabulous Robert Clary, who I was just thinking of this morning. Known for playing the adorable Corporal Louis LeBeau on Hogan's Heroes, and in real life a survivor of Buchenwald concentration camp.

He also had quite a singing career and ended up marring Eddie Cantor's daughter.

95 and still going. Now, watch, he'll pop his clogs. NO!

Love him. And he is the last one standing from the original cast.

by Anonymousreply 123June 18, 2021 4:32 AM

Angela Lansbury died in 2016. My granny cried half the day. She thought of Angie as a mother. We had to give her some whiskey while she sang along to Sweeney Todd and applied dark eye liner and orange red lipstick outside her lip line. After a few drinks, Granny laughed and said that Angela Lansbury was also a drunk! Notoriously so. RIP.

by Anonymousreply 124June 18, 2021 4:44 AM

I met Joanne Worley several years ago at a CELEBRITY AUTIOBIOGRAPHY performance in Los Angeles. She was the hostess/m.c. of the event, which benefitted Actors & Others for Animals.

I bid on (but, sadly, did not win) a luncheon with the "Ladies Who Lunch" -- a group of older actresses that get together for lunch once a month. The group included Joanne, Florence Henderson (who performed that night) and Charlotte Rae. I'd had a few drinks & wanted it BAD! Joanne took a photo with me afterward and thanked me driving up the bidding....because it was all for the animals. I love her.

Sorry, I accidentally hit "Post" above before getting to my story.

Anyway, at one point in the early 90's, my father said to me, "Have you heard of a group called the Rolling Stones?". I answered "Yes, why?" and he said "I saw a picture of them in the paper the other day. They look absolutely frightening -- it's shocking, they must be very sick."

And he showed me the picture; it was the one I posted above, or one like it.

R314 Nope we didn't.

by Anonymousreply 316July 19, 2021 11:16 PM

Pat Hitchcock, Alfred Hitchcock's daughter. He put her in some of his films. She was born in 1928. Was watching a documentary about Alfred Hitchcock and she was delightful. I can't believe I actually said delightful.

by Anonymousreply 317July 20, 2021 3:23 AM

I loved Pat Hitchcock in Strangers on A Train. That sort of nepotism wasn't big back then and she was no beauty - but she was fascinating in her role. She'd be a more popular actress today. It's one of Hitchcock's best films. How nice that she's still here.

by Anonymousreply 318July 20, 2021 3:32 AM

Pat was also on a bunch of episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents

by Anonymousreply 319July 20, 2021 3:33 AM

Pat keeps a skeletal Alfred in the basement, in a chair, facing away at a light.

by Anonymousreply 320July 20, 2021 3:35 AM

And he didn't just put her in his movies/TV R319. If she was not right for the part he would not use her.

by Anonymousreply 321July 20, 2021 3:36 AM

BTW, Vera Miles, who played the sister in Psycho, is still alive at 91 years old.

by Anonymousreply 322July 20, 2021 3:59 AM

[quote]BTW, Vera Miles, who played the sister in Psycho, is still alive at 91 years old.

Hitchcock cast Vera Miles as Madeleine/Judy in "Vertigo," but she became pregnant and had to withdraw.

by Anonymousreply 323July 20, 2021 4:26 AM

That was covered in the documentary R323.

by Anonymousreply 324July 20, 2021 4:27 AM

I just watched the NYC episode of "Somebody Feed Phil" on Netflix and it featured Elaine May. She appeared very feeble and frail, but still had her wits about her.

R336 - I'm shocked Carl is still alive after seeing her in that outfit. I don't know how much of her is actually still her, but she looks amazing for 75. A hell of a lot better than Madonna who's only pushing 60.

Gotta love Dolly.

by Anonymousreply 338July 20, 2021 10:39 PM

I know Michele Lee is living, but I was listening to her on Gilbert Gottfried’s podcast weeks ago and was very surprised at how old her voice sounded. She is 79, but doesn’t sound like she used to.

Well, sort of. She was 92 when she died in 2018, so 92 is as old as she ever got to be.

Rachel ("Audrey") Ames is 91. She is about 15 years and 10 years older (respectively) than co-stars Leslie ("Monica") Charleson and Denise ("Lesley") Alexander -- both of whom seem a lot less healthy and robust than her. All three of them have buried their TV husbands.

I did. Mary had juvenile diabetes, Val had the stress of being fired from playing Jason Bateman's mother and how that affected the rest of her career, and Cloris never got over Charlotte Rae's death or having to replace her on her show.
