Joanne Worley as the china cabinet in "Beauty and the Beast" nearly made me pee my pants.

So is Liz Sheridan, who played Jerry’s mother. She claims she was briefly engaged to James Dean in 1952.

Dizzy Sheridan was Dean’s hag.

The fabulous Robert Clary, who I was just thinking of this morning. Known for playing the adorable Corporal Louis LeBeau on Hogan's Heroes, and in real life a survivor of Buchenwald concentration camp.
He also had quite a singing career and ended up marring Eddie Cantor's daughter.
95 and still going. Now, watch, he'll pop his clogs. NO!
Love him. And he is the last one standing from the original cast.

R8 Estelle Harris was very deserving of her Oscar win in "Bonnie And Clyde", but more than that, I LOVE her as the haughty cunt sister-in-law in "For Pete's Sake".

Abbe Lane was a singer who was married to bandleader Xavier Cugat, making her the Charo of her day. But DLers probably remember her best from her appearance on "The Brady Bunch" as cosmetics heiress Beebe Gallini, who asked Mike to design her new factory.

|by Anonymous||reply 119||June 17, 2021 6:51 PM|
Death is not meant to be funny R119. Lansbury was a notorious drunk and the Meanest Woman in Show Biz, but my Granny looked up to her.

Janis Paige, who was the first replacement Mame on Broadway, and the star of the original "The Pajama Game" in the 1950s, is still alive at 98. And, of course, the original musical Mame, Angela Lansbury, is still around at 95.
|by Anonymous||reply 123||June 18, 2021 4:32 AM|
Angela Lansbury died in 2016. My granny cried half the day. She thought of Angie as a mother. We had to give her some whiskey while she sang along to Sweeney Todd and applied dark eye liner and orange red lipstick outside her lip line. After a few drinks, Granny laughed and said that Angela Lansbury was also a drunk! Notoriously so. RIP.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||June 18, 2021 4:44 AM|
I'm sure my post at R123 brought yet another post from the "my granny loved Angela Lansbury troll," but I've blocked him to spare myself from his devastating wit.

I met Joanne Worley several years ago at a CELEBRITY AUTIOBIOGRAPHY performance in Los Angeles. She was the hostess/m.c. of the event, which benefitted Actors & Others for Animals.
I bid on (but, sadly, did not win) a luncheon with the "Ladies Who Lunch" -- a group of older actresses that get together for lunch once a month. The group included Joanne, Florence Henderson (who performed that night) and Charlotte Rae. I'd had a few drinks & wanted it BAD! Joanne took a photo with me afterward and thanked me driving up the bidding....because it was all for the animals. I love her.

Every one of the Rolling Stones. They've all looked like mummies since at least 1989.
Funny true story: my father (silent generation and deeply uninterested in popular culture, or in fact any kind of culture)
It may have been the picture at the link; I can't remember.
|by Anonymous||reply 138||June 18, 2021 6:52 PM|
Sorry, I accidentally hit "Post" above before getting to my story.
Anyway, at one point in the early 90's, my father said to me, "Have you heard of a group called the Rolling Stones?". I answered "Yes, why?" and he said "I saw a picture of them in the paper the other day. They look absolutely frightening -- it's shocking, they must be very sick."
And he showed me the picture; it was the one I posted above, or one like it.

Ed Ames, who played Native American "Mingo" on the 1960s Daniel Boone TV series, will be 94 next month. His parents were Jewish immigrants from Ukraine. Here in his memorable 1965 Tonight Show appearance, demonstrating his prowess with the tomahawk.

Lily Tomlin does indeed have a fantastic plastic surgeon, R74, likely Jane's. Here's Lily in "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas," the sixth episode of the sixth season of The X-Files. Looks 10 years younger than that now--and generally better looking. She's had it all done, and tastefully so.

R301 = conservatard who thinks he is victimized for being white
|by Anonymous||reply 303||July 17, 2021 10:48 PM|
R303 A pompous idiot. Enough said.
|by Anonymous||reply 304||July 18, 2021 12:55 AM|
R303 Joke is on you. I neither white nor victimized.

Loretta Lynn. She's 89
|by Anonymous||reply 306||July 18, 2021 1:23 AM|
Conservatards always claim they aren't white when you call them out on their racism. Like 99% of conservatives are white and only conservatives use terms like "libtard"
|by Anonymous||reply 307||July 18, 2021 1:45 AM|
You truly are an idiot and full of shit. 99%? Pffft. You're a waste of time.

Pat Hitchcock, Alfred Hitchcock's daughter. He put her in some of his films. She was born in 1928. Was watching a documentary about Alfred Hitchcock and she was delightful. I can't believe I actually said delightful.
|by Anonymous||reply 317||July 20, 2021 3:23 AM|
I loved Pat Hitchcock in Strangers on A Train. That sort of nepotism wasn't big back then and she was no beauty - but she was fascinating in her role. She'd be a more popular actress today. It's one of Hitchcock's best films. How nice that she's still here.
|by Anonymous||reply 318||July 20, 2021 3:32 AM|
Pat was also on a bunch of episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents
|by Anonymous||reply 319||July 20, 2021 3:33 AM|
Pat keeps a skeletal Alfred in the basement, in a chair, facing away at a light.
|by Anonymous||reply 320||July 20, 2021 3:35 AM|
And he didn't just put her in his movies/TV R319. If she was not right for the part he would not use her.

[quote]BTW, Vera Miles, who played the sister in Psycho, is still alive at 91 years old.
Hitchcock cast Vera Miles as Madeleine/Judy in "Vertigo," but she became pregnant and had to withdraw.

That was covered in the documentary R323.

I just watched the NYC episode of "Somebody Feed Phil" on Netflix and it featured Elaine May. She appeared very feeble and frail, but still had her wits about her.

Don Murray is 91

R336 - I'm shocked Carl is still alive after seeing her in that outfit. I don't know how much of her is actually still her, but she looks amazing for 75. A hell of a lot better than Madonna who's only pushing 60.
Gotta love Dolly.

I know Michele Lee is living, but I was listening to her on Gilbert Gottfried’s podcast weeks ago and was very surprised at how old her voice sounded. She is 79, but doesn’t sound like she used to.

Well, sort of. She was 92 when she died in 2018, so 92 is as old as she ever got to be.

Rachel ("Audrey") Ames is 91. She is about 15 years and 10 years older (respectively) than co-stars Leslie ("Monica") Charleson and Denise ("Lesley") Alexander -- both of whom seem a lot less healthy and robust than her. All three of them have buried their TV husbands.

I did. Mary had juvenile diabetes, Val had the stress of being fired from playing Jason Bateman's mother and how that affected the rest of her career, and Cloris never got over Charlotte Rae's death or having to replace her on her show.
