Do you believe a place can be haunted?

I think so.

I've had enough paranormal experiences in my former home and the one where I live now to fill a book. I've told many of them here over the last couple of years. I'll tell one of them here.

When a former partner of mine died, I arrived home from the hospital that night to find the clock he kept by the side of the bed had stopped at the precise time he died. About a month later, as I came out of the bedroom one morning, he was standing at the end of the hallway, wearing his favorite shirt. He was looking directly at me, with a little smirk that he often had when he was teasing me about something. Then, in an instant, he simply vanished. Now you see him, now you don't.

Yes. The house I grew up in had something weird in it.

Yes. When I was a kid, my neighbor’s house was haunted. They were very nonchalant about it. Ghost turned on faucets and lights, loved kids and was more active when they were around.

The house I'm living in has some kind of spirit of the man who died here before. He shakes beds and moves things around, but otherwise harmless. His name is Tony and we're used to him now

Supposedly, one of the old guesthouses on our farm is haunting by a distant relative. Over the years, several people claim to have seen him walking in and out of the rear bedroom which is where is died.

I always avoided staying there whenever possible. But, last summer I drew the short straw. I was lying in bed and unable to sleep around midnight when I suddenly decided to beat off. I apologized and warned any ghost in the room of my upcoming eruption and then I proceeded to moan, groan and come with the best of them.

I felt sure I would offend and that some ghost would make an appearance but nothing appeared. I told my sister the next morning that I may have permanently scared away any trapped spirits.

Nope, because ghosts/the supernatural are not real. But I WISH they were.

No. I'm big into photography and urbex, so I'm used to being in darkrooms by myself and photographing abandoned locations by myself.

I have a friend whose husband is an ordained Pentecostal minister, but he doesn’t practice. She’s definitely not the type to lie about stuff, and for as long as I’ve known her, she’s refused to watch horror movies, have a medium read her, engage in Tarot, etc. We always assumed it’s because of her husband being a minister. Turns out, according to her, they were terrorized by some evil entity that one night lifted their bed - with them in it - off the floor. She wouldn’t say more than that, and swore us to secrecy, but firmly believes you invite that stuff into your life. So she does believe in spirits or ghosts, including evil ones, and stays away from anything she thinks will open some doorway. Like I said, she’s not someone I would think would ever lie, and she and her husband both experienced the same thing and were freaked out by it. I’m probably more of a non-believer, but stories such as hers always give me pause.

I grew up in a house in which there were only a few rooms in which it was comfortable to be alone. And I saw something very strange and frightening one day which I’ve never been able to explain. So yes, I don’t know exactly what “haunted” means, but I do believe some houses and places definitely are.

I’m not sure I believe in ghosts but I think negative energy can manifest and remain in a place where something bad happened. Like Waco has bad energy.

My family home, our whole neighborhood actually, was built entirely brand new shortly before I was born. We were the first family to ever live in the house. There would be no reason for it to be "haunted". Some funny experiences I've had over the years though:

I found out I experience sleep paralysis from time to time. This can genuinely feel like you're encountering a ghost(s).

The central air vents in two apartments I've lived in would cause certain doors to open or close by themselves when they kicked on and off.

I'm R11 here btw and I mentioned exploring abandoned places and photographing them on my previous post. Several times I accidentally stumbled upon squatters in the process and it startled the crap out of me.

I lived in an old, off campus, farmhouse my senior year of college. There was something really creepy about that house, it was terrifying being out there alone. One of my roommates stayed there over Thanksgiving, and he said he drank a six pack every night to pass out, because it was so terrifying being there alone.

My grandparents had a back bedroom that had something dwelling in it. Several guests over the years staying there would mention the bed jerking in the middle of the night. My aunt claims to have seen a person standing at the foot of the bed while she was sleeping there, but that could easily have been dream related. But at least one of the people who brought up the bed jerking the next morning had never heard anything about the other incidents.

I experienced it myself when I stayed with my grandparents for a few months after college before moving on to a permanent place. It happened twice while I was staying there, and it felt like someone shoved the foot of the bed really hard out of the blue. I've never felt anything like it in any other place.

FWIW, May Day is a time the ancient Celts believed the dead could return as spirits to walk the earth, just like Halloween.

And the pagan Romans celebrated their own festival of the dead at this time called the Lemuria, where dead relations also returned as spirits to plague the living. The Lemuria was converted to All Saints Day by the Christians, which they would later use to convert and stamp out the pagan practices of Sawhain (Halloween), Mictecacihuatl and others.
