I think 600 posts before a thread is closed is too much at this point (Hi Muriel! A bit of feedback here) since most/many of us are on mobile devices and the bog down after 400 is so frustrating, it's a turn off not just to read, but to particpate.

The more I see Kandy, the more I miss Vangie. Apple music randomly played, "Lucky" for me, and I couldn't understand Kandy, and to a lesser extent, Symoné. Rosé sounded the best, but very generic. Mik was actually cute on it, but vocal fry for days.

I would love to see a bake-off between Lawrence and Kandy just to show people a what a good, witty, stylish big girl drag queen who can sew her own clothes really look like.

R4 I "get" why people compare Kandy to Vangie, but aside from being loud Hispanic drag queens... they really don't have much in common.

In my opinion, Vangie was shown to have a pretty good sense of humor and was *generally* good natured. Vangie might be dumb at times, but she's not nearly as caustic or as delusional as Kandy. In general, Kandy is a nightmare. Vanjie is a queen like Alyssa Edwards, who is kind of funny on their own. I wouldn't want to work with them, but they don't make me want to throw my tv out of the window.

What a boring season with a pack of mediocre talents. NOT ONE has the full suite of what the show purports to deliver - America's Next Drag Superstar.

Symone is the closest with her sense of delivery and pose, great presentation of black style, the best looks of the season and a pleasant personality. Her commitment shows. (She can't sew, buys her looks and can't sing, but....)

Rose is a theatre queen without uniqueness. And her Scottish costume was bad - heavy, ugly, unflattering and poorly draped. Not-Vangie is a horror, period. "Curves" is not a synonym for grotesque obesity without taste. GottMik is anomalous but just feels like a rich FTM that still is so F there is no drag going on - and her vocal fry, mincing phoniness and silly whiteface "signature" are all signs of a not-there wannabe cashing in on her "specialness" rather than her talent. Glad he has the money to spend, but that doesn't make him something other than what he is - an interloper with entitlement issues.

I think if we want to see the "future of drag," we'll have to appreciate the international editions until they get boring and stale, too.

I'm not expecting much from the Australian/New Zealand edition, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by Drag Race Espana.

After watching Drag Race Thailand, I don't think any season will top the sheer drama and HIGH DRAG of that season. In the words of Trinity "the Tuck" Taylor: "I don't know what the fuck she's saying but girl I am living." Will there ever be another season where the judges had to tell the queens to stop SETTING THEMSELVES ON FIRE?!? No.

Kylie and Dannii are going to be judges on the upcoming DR Australia. Can't wait!

None of the final four queens are great at lip synching. So that means underwhelming lipsynchs. That's the problem with the lip synch for the crown finales now, it puts so much focus on one drag skill.

I guess part of the problem is performing to no audience. There is an energy you get from a crowd.

Years ago, they said All Stars would air only on Showtime and there was so much backlash about having to subscribe to a pay cable channel, they put it on VH1.

People are probably so Drag Raced out that they won't complain and won't watch Paramount.

I will watch it if it's on the WOW app. If it isn't, then I can skip it. I'm not subscribing to yet another streaming service.

Symone’s black and white look was stunning. I am so glad she won. And I have been to (through) Bald Knob, Conway, and Mountain Home, AR, and I am proud of anyone who can get out of those hell holes.

Highlights for me:

Miss Ru needs her Boniva prescription renewed. Her "dance" at the beginning was stiffer than the Tin Man pre-lube!

Kandy's final lip sync look - a sad vision in a white jumpsuit with straining belt - and Elvis's white shoes - was the worst in the show's history. I hope Ru was embarrassed.

Symone sitting there all sleek and shiny with her long bare ebony enchantress legs and arms and those sexy gold heels. Her black and white look was a homage to bandanas and was by far the most stunning thing of the night AND the season. Ru has got to stop with that completely round hairline on ALL of his wigs. It's not working anymore. And cover your leg pads and 26 pair of pantyhose please.

All the Queens packed on the lbs except for Symone and Kandy. Kandy's lip sync against Rose is the best she's EVER gonna look. Bitch looked like a real drag queen for once. A bit of ginger glamor toad minj realness. Rose was a mess in everything she wore and did. Really off.

I do love me some Symone, the only true Queen of the season. Even she needs to step up her performance a bit if she hopes to Werk The World.

R127 Rupaul asked her about the injured ankle on the show last night. The people of Reddit just watched the episode...

It seemed kind of weird, though. Rosé said he sprained his ankle badly three months ago. Wouldn't a sprained ankle heal in three months' time? And more strangely, Rupaul encouraged Rosé to do whatever it takes to win, implying that risking further injury is worthwhile, while in the past, Drag Race has made accommodations for injured people or even removed them from the show to prevent further injury. So I was kind of perplexed by that exchange.

I didn't hate this season overall as much as everyone else seems to have, but I thought last night's performances were shamefully bad. As much as everyone hates Kandy, you have to admit that Kandy was trying as hard as Kandy could last night. Mik seemed to be operating at about a 7/10 energy level, which is low for her, and Symone and Rosé both seemed bored during their lip syncs.

Up until last night, I have been pretty consistently impressed with Symone and Mik, but last night's ep left me feeling pretty cool to them both—Mik because, yeah, the past two weeks' episodes have shown Mik to seem entitled and cocky and less fun-loving and silly as we saw throughout the season, and Symone because she just didn't have the same kind of energy. Both of them really benefited from their interactions in the workroom and with judges, where their lovable personalities came out.

The last two eps left me feeling that as stage performers, Mik's real talent is owning expensive outfits, and Symone's is strutting but certainly not performing to music.

According the the contract obligations, Kandy Moose owes World Of Wonder, every cent she possibly made on the show and more. She'll never work again as a drag queen and will be back to selling burgers in no time soon.

Symone has a strong network of support r131. She has the House of Avalon, Gigi Goode and GiGi's mom helping her with all her looks. It takes a village as they say.

Symone will be walking major fashion runways honey. Of all the Drag girls who have done so, she is the one who looks like a runway model.

They get a lot of support from the community too. Marco Marco made Symone's sexy furry Fox look and Geoffrey Scott has done some of her things too. I don't imagine she had to pay.

She doesn't seem like a Mondo Guerra kind of girl, but I can see Siriano dying to dress Symone. Plus Gigi is a mistress of wigs and Gigi's mom ain't no slouch either. Just up the fabric quality - which they can now afford to do. I love Symone's Street Chic Style of Drag. I don't think any previous contestant has quite her look or style. (don't say Yvie Oddley neither)

Miss Fame walks runways of course. But he's all but transitioned into a girl. Now HE looks like a tranny. A pretty tranny.

Symone is a fashion star and I think she can act too. Give her more time to work out her numbers and she's a great presence on stage too. She likes to be comedic and werk the runway, but she's capable of emotive stuff too. Gigi is actually a much better performer and lip syncer than Symone, but they are super close. I would expect for them to be on the same tour, hopefully by this fall.🤞

The House of Avalon is interesting. It started as way for poor gay creative stuck in Arkansas trying to find each other, ended up growing, moving to LA and becoming a little force. Mark Monroe is one of the founders and now is Lizzos stylist and does a lot of Symone's looks.

Can anyone tell me exactly what Symone showed us that was different in the lip synch? When Ru asked what her strategy was going to be, she gave some song and dance answer about showing a different side of herself. A side that took downers before her performance? All of the lip synchs last night were bad.

I've said it before that Kandy should have been eliminated during the season (that beast look?!?) but it seemed like she flopped both lip syncs. Against Rose, it looked as if Kandy was just standing still on the stage, no even moving to the music. Then, against Symone, it appeared she didn't even know the words.

Kandy's lip sync style is to pace uop and down the stage, throw her arms up and out as if arguing while thrusting her stomach and chest out as an intimidation. No rhythm, no interpreting the lyrics. Just hollow bravado. ll while wearing bar drag, ON THE F*CKING FINALE. Shame on you Miss Ru!

The winner of each lip synch really just made the other person disappear onstage.....and of course Kandy Moose didn't know the words.... Even in the opening number where they were all watching themselves onstage, she was moving her moose lips around but even there was incomprehensible.

Her looks were tragic - bless her heart.

Congratulations, Symone. I also liked LaLa as Miss Congeniality. Her moment during the BLM discussion was the truest and most real moment of the season. And she seemed genuinely nice.

I thought the pre-recorded group lip sync to Friends was the best part of the show. I don’t think there has ever been a top 4 that has such good chemistry, but the flip side of that is, for me, they work better as a girl group than they do as individuals. In the group, Rosé is all show pony technique, but on her own it’s like watching a horse pace itself and count strides around a jumping course; Kandi in the group is scrappy and brings heat, on her own she just seems messy and early sizzle fails to build to anything; in the group Mik is “I dare you not to love me” exuberance, but on her own there is a quality to her that is like watching your friend’s end of year recital performance after she has been taking classes at the local dance academy. Symone is the one who stands up best on her own, and in the group, she’s pure star quality and Black excellence, but you put her on her own the sashaying and reaction takes start feeling like they are the mark of an inhibited performer (and soul).

Rose had to have been on some sort of painkillers last night. She’s always been “meh” to me..in that Jan theatre kid kind of way...but she was so vacant last night. It was not hard for Kandy to beat her. Symone wasn’t GREAT in that final lip sync, but Kandy was just awful. I think with this platform Symone will continue to grow as a performer. She’s just a bright soul, and one my favorite queens ever on RPDR.

I always thought those finale lip syncs were fixed. What if Kandy had chosen Gottmik? She'd be out first. What if Symone and Gottmik were the two in the final lip sync? Who would Ru choose then to please the fans? The Britney songs were not the right dish for last night. Rose was startlingly bad. Did you see her in that FAT red tree outfit in the Ball? Or trying to walk in that too tight black and white number? She brings you tacky everytime. And she moves weird - not because of her ankle either.

The Friends lips sync and those silver and gold lame jeans dancing boys were the highlights on the night. And Heidi telling Ru the D was better in L.A. now that SHE's there!! Even Jaida didn't bring a flattering look to the finale? What a somber color and strange shape it had.

Symone looked fab in that black and white gown though. And especially in the sleek black Halston like dress she wore for the Friends number. A woman.

But it's a good moment when Trixie asked Katya who would win Season 7 if it was decided by a Lip Sync Battle? They both agree it would have been won by Ginger. No matter the song.

Symone had not much competition. But who would ever beat her from another regular season? Maybe Jinkx or Bianca. That's it.

I found the lip synchs to be anticlimactic. And I missed the other judges.

Katya is one sharp motherfucker (Trixie is no slouch, but her talents are more on the business end of things), and boy did Katya stan for Bimini. I kind of wonder if she didn't give some advice to Bimini during the UK's quarantine break, because there was something a bit Katya-esque about Bimini in the second half of the season that wasn't there in the first half.

Both Katya AND Trixie (less so) have said some things about Ru that have been less than flattering. I think when they do that hard core kissy uppy shit, it's a bit of a wink and a nod that they are being a bit satirical. That have said they both know without Ru, they'd be pretty much nowhere.

The one winning queen I can think of that doesn't ever suck up to Ru is Bianca del Rio. Sometimes I wonder if she bought herself out of that contract from hell that's been discussed before. She speaks respectfully of Ru, but in a very professional way and even then there is a side of eyeroll.

I have to confess, since about season 7 or 8, I’ve found the finales of RPDR to be soooo boring to watch. Not even just the finale, but the last few episodes prior to the finale, as well. For a ruveal, I was hoping Kandy would stand front and center on stage and reach up and RIP her head clean in two, pull away chunks of fat and grease to reveal GottMik standing covered in blood. Now that would have been awesome!

I’ve been watching Symone clips today, and I just love her. I can’t think of another winner I’ve liked this much in a long time. I want a series starring her and Bimini, with occasional guest appearances by Jimbo.

If WOW has been paying attention, they would know that Kandy is one of the most disliked queens to ever appear on the show.

I don't hate either GM or Kandy. For me, you've got to be interesting to hate. One was too calculated and charmless; one was too messy and charmless, and I found neither one to be interesting let alone unique.

I found GM as annoying as Kandy but on the flip side of the annoying coin: too studied, too manufactured, too loaded to have ever had to try hard (though quite a try-hard in the behavior department). From her "trans" storyline (and that's really all it was there for, mark my words), to her stupid / stupidly expensive, yet not particularly imaginative costumes, to her OTT knee slappy, open mouthed, bent waist, just one of the guys (hardly), try-hard yet wit-free "antics", she came off as too calculated with entitlement frosting.

As for Kandy: irritating and exhausting without question, but I don't hate her. Again, not interesting or unique enough to hate. I think Ru, the judges, and some queens (if Pit Stop discussions were anything to go by) were reminded by Kandy of the many loud, messy, broke but genuine (I didn't say likable) bar queens out there. Her origin story was perhaps relatable to those who fought tooth and nail to get out of their small town shithole, and/or had difficult upbringings / family dynamics. I think people have known a few Kandys in their time, and I believe that's why she got as far as she did. However, where I think she really suffered--as did many of the viewers--is loud and messy does not equal dimensionality or charm, and Kandy came off as charmlessly one-dimensional with her own brand of entitlement frosting.

I never thought about their resources, although I should have since I remember Chi Chi complaining in both her seasons that she was too poor to compete with the big-budget costumes.

According to various reports, the show gives each contestant $500 per challenge and then the contestants pay what they can afford on top of that for costumes, with Gottmik paying the most, totaling around $60,000. That's not fair. It's not even. Over 12 episodes, that's $500 up against $5,000 per costume.

Project Runway gives all contestants the same amount for their finale and tallies receipts at the end to make sure no one overspent with their own money. Drag Race should do the same since the show has been changed from a demonstration of multiple talents and imagination to nothing more than costume parade and choreography-memorization competition. The charisma part is less important than ever, and when uniqueness is dependent on budget and offscreen collaborators, the show suffers. It shouldn't be about who is richest.

For people going on about the contracts, that looks like a pretty standard reality competition show contract. The price of chasing fame the reality show route is that the production is going to own a piece of you for as long as they need to. If you're 20 and looking for exposure and almost guaranteed work afterwards, then why not sign the contract. What else do you have going on? For older, more established queens, why go through the bother unless you've hit a wall in your career.

Lala Ri winning Miss Congeniality was a surprise for about two seconds... but it made sense after that. It's time to retire the LSFYL mini-tournament for the finale. It's just not generating the excitement they thought it would. You can't convince me for a single solitary second that the wheel isn't rigged, and they still chose the two least interesting matchups they could for the semifinals. Neither Kandy nor Rosé had a chance in hell of winning against Symone, or Gottmik either, TBH, so it made for a boring final round. Symone didn't even have to try (nor should she have). A similar thing happened two years ago. Silky explained in her AMA thread (linked above) why she did what she did, but we were expecting a LSFYL between her and Yvie that they were teasing all through Season 11, and when given the choice of opponent she chose.... Brooke.

The recent finales are designed for the producer's winner to win, without Ru having to get his hands dirty or make much of a decision. When Eureka so clearly beat Aquaria in their head to head lip sync in the Season 10 finale - Ru declared them BOTH winners - forcing an awkward three way lip sync with Kameron. All so the previously chosen winner *Aquaria* could make it to the crown.

I like Aquaria, but Eureka won Season 10. They had to finesse the finale so the chosen winner would win. No amount of editing could make it appear that Aquaria beat Eureka, so Ru didn't eliminate either of them. In other words, the results are fixed before the finale is filmed. The show is rigged and has been for some time.

The premier for Drag Race Down Under is just a few days away (May 1st). Is there a thread for it yet that anyone can point me to, while we continue the postmortem of this season here?

Silky, how does it work when RuGirls still attached to their contract branch out into another venture or appearance. Like the AA Girls, or all the alumni who have appeared at Black Girl Magic in Chicago? Do they get to keep their money or just a percentage of it? Are they allowed to accept any gig they want or do they need WoW's permission? And can they really keep you a slave for so many years by forcing you to make a one time appearance on a following Drag Race season, thereby extending your "contract" into perpetuity? Can you refuse to do it without being sued? And let's say you're a big draw like Jinkx or Sharon once was. How much WILL they pay you per performance on a Werq the World Tour?

Queen's booking fees can be as high as 10,000 for an appearance. Is it really true that while under contract you'd be lucky to given $1,000 per night? Drag is expensive man.

Hell yes. Bianca has made a few guest appearances. A walk through the work room for Snatch Game, a funny walk on with the queens where she insulted them all and kept moving, a few video appearances and maybe more? I'm sure no one is touching Bianca's money. But she did host The Pit Stop and has appeared on lots of WoW programming. She's an exception. You don't see Adore doing it and she's also quite successful. Alaska seems to have broken free too. Others are happy for the gigs and the chance to lick RuPaul's ass while they make $$$ on their other ventures. Trixie & BoB.

Remember when Dahlia Sims appeared as a head of Broccoli all through season 12? Even though she was first eliminated and the most beautiful member of the house of Aja. Katya just showed a dress that Marko Monroe made her and it's probably the only attractive garment she's ever worn. He's a very creative guy. He's not just a gay or "drag" designer and not to be confused with Marco Marco.

The house of Avalon are all talented and cute. Inspirational. It's great to see them succeed. They had big dreams and a need to escape. To L.A. Cuz they aren't BK bar queens. It's been paying off. Symone had seven top toots and everyone's in love with her style AND her fashion. She's a MUSE. Gigi lives there and style the wigs and plans her All Stars Win. Her mom loves them all. They're a creative collective. It shows. The Drag Race win is important, but like Bimini in the UK, they've only just begun to take on the world. Fashion may be a bit of a shallow world, but those boys from Arkansas aren't. Onwards!

Kennedy does sound sensitive. But she gets along with most everyone. If you watch the whole interview you realize that Trixie was a dick to her. Behind her back. And ever since. And Trixie has a smaller dick than Gottmik. In season 7 AND All stars whatever. Also, Kennedy got more votes for the WIN from the other queens than Trixie in that most fucked up season that Bendela, then Shangela should have won. Kennedy is well into her mid forties. She's come up through Texas and pageants and spending every penny she earned for a new sequins gown. She took care of her family and disabled sister. Was a good friend to Sahara Davenport and the best friend of Chi Chi. Her sister was in the hospital with COVID for a long time. She puts on A SHOW. Kennedy is the ONLY contestant that RuPaul ever told a national audience that they should go and see in person. He loves and appreciates who she is and how far she's come. Trinity was told by Ru (privately) that she would have to be eliminated in forth place so that Pearl could be put in the Top 3!!! She didn't deserve to make it to the final two in her All Stars travesty season - but she sure as fuck beat TRIXIE MARTEL in that final lip sync. So therefor - deserved the crown. The returning queens voted for her. Trixie pretends to have a sense of humor about her underserved win, but she doesn't. If Kennedy says Trixie was fake to her face and dirty behind her back, for years - I believe her.

Kennedy was a great queen and a great person. A genuinely great person.

R321 you don’t remember correctly. Kennedy got demonized because she wasn’t a young skinny fashion queen (pearl, violet) AND she sent season fave Katya home. She was not interesting to the tween girl market the show targeted . If you rewatch the season, kennedy is actually pretty funny and maybe a little shady, a pageant queen. Certainly more talented than the top 3. Who would you rather see live...Kennedy or Pearl? Sorry for the long rant, but I think it’s bullshit that straight teenage girls gay BFF fantasy determines the course of a show created for us.

She would say she would go to drag con and there were hours long lines for Trixie and Katya and Pearl then they would run up at the end asking her for an autograph. Fuck my Drag right? If you watched the Werk The World docuseries on WOW + Kennedy was actually pretty damn funny and down to earth, She takes care of her mother and mentally challegened sister.

Huh, we already saw the live clip R332. Rupaul cares as much about his Drag Queens as he does about the peanut butter chocolate bar. It's all business. He doesn't even know many of their names. Who's bringing in the cash? Don't say that's like everyone. RuPaul sold out around season 6. And stopped having any say in who goes home, wins the lip sync or the crown right after that. Symone was an easy one to crown. She had no competition. BUT.

Symone *IS* one of the top ten queens to ever come from this drag and pony show. She's really special. For fashion and heart and good looks and a certain hybrid between the performance queens and the look queens. She may have failed the terrible roast challenge, but she slayed being a comedian. Symone has a message that everyone needs to hear. But rather than just speak it, she wears it. She's everything the vixen wanted to be. With Symone - it's real and comes from a place that people can trust and enjoy. And he's cute and she's beautiful and the fashion is on fire. ❤️🚧❤️
