Good grief! Look at Bannon in the picture. How rotten in the inside do you have to be for it to start erupting from your neck???

Why does he always wear two shirts? Is that a dog whistle of sorts too?

by Anonymousreply 8November 6, 2020 2:53 PM

Fuck Nevada

by Anonymousreply 9November 6, 2020 2:53 PM

The previous thread is painfully and laboriously slow.

Trump says he's watching FOX Business News. Loser.

by Anonymousreply 10November 6, 2020 2:54 PM

The news media is hesitating to certify the election in swing states because they want to drag this out for ratings.

by Anonymousreply 11November 6, 2020 2:56 PM

Am I wrong in thinking no state wants to be the state whose numbers clinch the victory for Biden? Like they don't to deal with potential civil unrest at their doorstep?

by Anonymousreply 12November 6, 2020 2:56 PM

Bannon is still working from the Official Preppy Handbook, R8. The more layers, the classier. His filthy Barbour jackets are another 80s preppy classic.

by Anonymousreply 13November 6, 2020 2:56 PM

Nancy basically claiming victory, which is good. But she says Biden has a mandate. Then says she wants to unify. She may want to acknowledge that this race was close as hell, she lost seats, and republicans held the senate. Why lie saying there is a mandate? It will only make the right more upset and de-unify. She needs to go guys. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 28November 6, 2020 3:08 PM

I hate Craig and Ayman on MSNBC. The former has a gravely voice, the latter is pushy and interrupts everyone.

by Anonymousreply 41November 6, 2020 3:13 PM

Senate doesn’t mean there’s not a mandate for Biden. It just means that Independent /Swing voters DID vote for Biden. He captured the center and built a coalition. That’s a mandate imo.

So does gay DL icon and Trump supporter, Richard Grenell, still support Trump? Sort of.

From Wapo, 11/5/20

[quote] Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., on Twitter called for “2024 GOP hopefuls” to forcefully speak out on his father’s behalf — a not-so-vague allusion to the influence the president and his family are likely to hold over the Republican Party for years to come. Trump’s son Eric also took to Twitter to lament, “Where is the GOP?! Our voters will never forget . . .”

[quote] Some of the efforts the campaign did manage to mobilize had an amateurish feel. In North Las Vegas, Richard Grenell, the former acting director of national intelligence, and Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, held a news conference to draw attention to what they claimed were illegal votes.

[quote] But Grenell refused to give his name to local news reporters, who did not recognize who he was, and then declined to answer follow-up questions asking him to provide specific evidence for his claims.

Nothing will help MAGA folks come down out of their covidgelical fascist high. Yes , Biden will be a healer, not a divider, but it won't matter. Have we not learned anything yet?

Mandate? Dems won. And the Senate, a longshot, may still be won by the runoffs in GA. So, Dems need to do the right thing for people, for the planet, for democracy. Don't worry about claiming a mandate or not. Trump and his cabal claimed a "huge mandate" (which eventually justified breaking every norm, for destroying normal order, for capturing the Court) - a mandate by losing the popular vote and winning the EC by 70k votes.

Biden wins both EC and the popular vote (eventually by over 5mil). Dems need to tackle covid, economic destruction, huge deficit, international shame, crumbling infrastructure, racism and criminal justice reform, children in cages at the border..... there is a hell of lot to do. Invite Republicans to join, to help.... but keep doing the right thing when they don't.

by Anonymousreply 52November 6, 2020 3:20 PM

Not calling Arizona for Biden is puzzling. What are they waiting for?

by Anonymousreply 53November 6, 2020 3:21 PM

Given how quick Fox and AP were to call Arizona, it is hypocritical they haven't called the race.

It is much, much more certain Biden has won than thay Arizona win was at the time.

Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) all went on Fox News and tried to lend credence to Trump’s nonsensical case. “President Trump won this election,” McCarthy told Laura Ingraham. “So everyone who’s listening, do not be quiet. Do not be silent about this. We can not allow this to happen before our very eyes.”

Kevin McCathy, Lyin' Ted, and Miss Lindsey, are eager to perpetuate Trump's lies.

This is crazy. Nevada and Arizona should be called now. Do they want PA to be the decider because it makes a better narrative?

by Anonymousreply 62November 6, 2020 3:25 PM

MSNBC has called the AZ Senate race for Mark Kelly

by Anonymousreply 63November 6, 2020 3:25 PM

They should call PA today when it’s clear a recount would not help Trump

They are hopeless waiting for AZ and NV

by Anonymousreply 64November 6, 2020 3:25 PM

Yeah PA will eventually get called as Biden's lead grows. The networks are just waiting for a bit more votes to come in before they call the race.

No one wants to call it without going over everything twice because trump will challenge it and they don't want to lose their jobs if they made any mistakes. I'm pretty sure when these numbers do come out they will be solid and accurate.

by Anonymousreply 67November 6, 2020 3:26 PM

[QUOTE] Do they want PA to be the decider because it makes a better narrative?

That’s certainly what I want. Pennsylvania is the most important state left on the list. It’s the crown jewel of the Democrats’ election strategy and we can NEVER risk losing it again.

I've been nervous about Arizona but I also know that Fox and AP are the absolute gold standard in state-calling and don't want a blemish on their record. Especially with Fox calling it, they must have had some specific knowledge that Maricopa was going to come in weak for Trump and called early. It does seem to be coming in lower than he needs to overtake. One more disappointing dump and I think they'll call it and all the outlets will be even with Biden at 264 and waiting for the PA or NV call while GA goes to recount (but comes out on our side.) I think we're looking at 306-232 in the end. And probably close to 4.5 million lead in the popular vote.

Can Bloomberg set up a temporary company in Georgia and bring in a ton of out-of-work-from-the-virus people to take up residence before the Senate runoff? Add a couple million Democrats to the rolls? No one's working anyway.

by Anonymousreply 76November 6, 2020 3:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 84November 6, 2020 3:30 PM

We are about to flip 3 States and win the popular vote by 4 million and win the most votes of any ticket ever. We have a mandate and we have to have confidence and act like it. Trump and the MAGAts claimed to have a mandate with the narrowest of margins and possible foreign interference. We need to stop doubting ourselves and worrying that not everyone likes us. We are acting like the women to men in some patriarchal society - insecure, like me like me like me, worrying about the group who didn't support is over that other group who did, afraid to be bold and take our own power.

by Anonymousreply 85November 6, 2020 3:31 PM

R85, I take it you want us to head further left, Squad-esque. Not going to happen. We're not going to be slaughtered in 2022 just because Tlaib says "You don't want to run more black people for office! You want to win instead!"

We need to play triangulation/stealth until we win the Senate, add states, and add Supreme Court justices.

R85. So your facts, regarding numbers, appear to be correct. Although keep in mind the states that are flipping are by the slimmest or margins. We are talking about 1% with most of them. But taking the same mentality as the Maga side is what got the country into this mess. Do better. Does it matter if it’s a mandate or not? No / my point was / what good does it do for Nancy to claim so? Because she wants to keep her position as house speaker even though she lost seats and Dems internally are pissed off at her. She’s 80 and it’s time for new blood. Get Schumer out of there too. Flame me all you want, but many Dems and progressives feel the same fucking way. R86

Democrats ARE going to move further left as younger more progressive liberals increasingly become more reliable voters. Generational turn-over sped up by covid is going to continue taking out chunks of center-left boomer moderates.

It's like your type really thinks that you're immortal or younger generations that have been economically destroyed by centrist neo-liberalism are just going to age into being little clones of baby boomer democrats. Our economic realities are not like your generation's were. We are not going to become YOU. And you are not going to live forever.

Even for the 2022 election, two years worth of elderly dying off is a major demographic and political shift, especially with the pandemic still raging and the enormous size of the baby boomer generation. And guess which boomers are going to be disproportionately dying off in larger proportions--men and the lower educated, two demographic variables strongly correlated with conservatism among democrats and republicans alike.

by Anonymousreply 130November 6, 2020 3:52 PM

No I don't want to go to the 'far left' as our nationwide platform. Not at all. I want us to use our win in the Midwest to drive home that we are the workers party, the party for the average guy. We need to take back the narrative as they paint us as elite millionaires while the Republican party is riddled with extreme wealth!! A congressperson in SF/LA/NY can can further left but they must still support the candidates in Kansas and Texas who must stay moderate and change the narrative. We have support for our policies but lose out because we allow the R to set the narrative.

And FWIW Pelosi (who I am not 100% behind btw but I can live with her for another 2 years if it happens) was right not to let them use the Heros Bill to shove in a bunch of reliefs for millionaires as a parting fuck you to the American people and she was right not to allow Trump to send out more checks with him name on them and right not to concede to their millionaire handjobs so Trump could go out and say he was giving the American people economic relief because we would have lost.

R126 - I don't think Trump can fire Doctor Fauci from his actual position but he may be able to get rid of him on the White House Covid Task Force. The Task Force isn't doing much anyway.

by Anonymousreply 134November 6, 2020 3:53 PM

Since no one else will call this race, I will:

Joe Biden is the 46th president of the United States!!!!

by Anonymousreply 135November 6, 2020 3:54 PM

Someone told me this morning that they heard that the Republican party is over but what is going to emerge is a party that is made up of Trumpettes. The older Republicans will die off but then this party will put their own party in. Hopefully this does not happen. I can't imagine an entire party of QAnon's.

R136 An entire party waiting for JFK jr to return and lead them.

by Anonymousreply 137November 6, 2020 3:55 PM

r134 you are correct BUT Trump signed something on Oct. 26 that allows him to move Fauci somewhere else and Then he can fire him. So he was obviously planning on it.

Dave Wasserman said last night on MSNBC that Biden will win the popular vote by a bigger margin than Obama won in 2012, and that everyone considered that to be a decisive win for Obama.

Biden defeated an incumbent president, got the most votes of any candidate in US history, flipped several states, and overcame every dirty voter-suppression trick in the book, and some people are still questioning whether or not he has a mandate?

Susan Collins Was Never Going to Lose

In an election year when all politics seems national, Maine stays local.

By Robert Messenger

Nov. 6, 2020

BLUE HILL, Maine — When you saw an article about Maine in the national press over the last year, it was usually a report that the state’s senior senator, Susan Collins, was toast. Yes, she’d won re-election in 2014 by 37 points, but that was before her vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The “ByeBye, Susan” bumper stickers started appearing not long after. The political reporters all found their way to the same trope: Ms. Collins hadn’t changed, but Maine had.

In recent months, Ms. Collins led in not a single poll until the one that mattered on Nov. 3. But the news out of the Pine Tree State this week isn’t just that Ms. Collins easily won re-election, but that across the state, people split their votes. Jared Golden, a Democrat, won re-election in Maine’s massive Second Congressional District, while President Trump also took the district and its one electoral vote (as he had in 2016). The two men had strikingly similar vote totals. Mr. Golden is an impressive young politician. A 38-year-old ex-Marine (combat tours of both Iraq and Afghanistan), he actually started his career working for Ms. Collins on Capitol Hill. But it was as a centrist Democrat that he entered Congress himself. One of his first acts in the House was to vote against Nancy Pelosi for the speakership. He’s bucked his party on issues like gun control and impeachment. Mainers like independence.

And they apparently don’t like being told what to do. The 2020 Senate race was by a long shot the most expensive in Maine history. Ms. Collins raised $27 million: five times what she spent in 2014. And her opponent, Sara Gideon, raised nearly $70 million. Thanks to the outside money that poured into the state, at least $120 million was spent on advertising. The Bangor Daily News was surely ecstatic to report a 3,000 percent increase in political ad spending over 2014, but for many months I could not go online without being confronted with an attack on one or the other candidate’s record in deeply misleading terms. It was disgusting and, worse, dispiriting.

There has always been plenty to like about Senator Collins no matter your party preference. Her campaign ran ads that caught the flavor of this Caribou-born politician, and it highlighted some very Maine things about her. In four terms in the Senate, for instance, she has never missed a vote, said one commercial. She may have made a contentious vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, but she also gave a common sense-filled 40-minute speech explaining her decision. It was pretty hard to square the Susan Collins who you regularly see around Maine with the figure in the pocket of Donald Trump and rich corporations you saw in her adversary’s ads.

And those very same ads turned her opponent from the accomplished speaker of the Maine House into simply: not Susan Collins. I had a nice chat a few weeks back with a clipboard-carrying Gideon-advocate who wandered up my driveway to make sure I was voting. She kept coming around to the point that it wasn’t enough for Joe Biden to defeat Mr. Trump, but that the Senate had to be taken back from Senator Mitch McConnell. I kept on about the foolishness of nationalizing local races. The question had to be who was best for Maine; any concerns about Mr. McConnell were the sole and exclusive property of the people of Kentucky. I also complained that she was really asking me to vote against Ms. Collins rather than for Ms. Gideon, who seemed to have lost her political personality when she became the standard bearer of a constant negative media blitz. Even the compelling woman in my driveway agreed that Ms. Gideon wasn’t coming across as the most authentic candidate. She, like everyone I know, had preferred the more progressive Betsy Sweet in the Democratic primary. It was a good conversation: serious, informed, respectful.

AZ race is all but over too, now. Trump is not getting the votes he needs.

by Anonymousreply 184November 6, 2020 4:17 PM

What was the youth vote turnout this time? Anyone have any numbers? Did it improve since 2016?

by Anonymousreply 185November 6, 2020 4:17 PM

...

Yet two days before the vote, a car with out-of-state plates came up my driveway and two more Gideon champions hopped out and began ringing the bell and pounding unstintingly on two separate doors to our house. My wife was more than miffed as our youngest was napping, and asked the canvassers just what in the hell was wrong with them. They answered by asking my wife if she had heard of the Sara Gideon campaign. Dear Katherine suggested they buzz off and was pretty annoyed by the whole encounter. She’d already decided her vote but pointed out that such an off-key visit could easily have swayed her view.

It snowed overnight Monday, and there were still flurries as we stood in line to vote the next morning. Everyone was subdued. No advocacy. No shouting. Just voters doing their socially distanced civic duty and saying a good morning to neighbors from behind masks. About 2,000 people voted in our town of Blue Hill. Mr. Biden won two-thirds of this vote (66 percent to Mr. Trump’s 32). Mr. Golden got 72 percent. But Ms. Gideon only took 55 percent. Very little straight ticket voting here. In the wider county, the Democratic state senator won easily, as did the Republican county commissioner.

The statewide results should give all Mainers something to be proud of, no matter their satisfaction or chagrin at any particular outcome. Voters here were able to distinguish local interests from national ones: to decide for themselves who could serve Maine best at each level of the government. Maine turned 200 in this challenging year. She hasn’t changed that much after all.

Well r125, you make good points while exposing your bitterness at the same time. I don't blame you. I'm the second most evil generation, GenX. While I am comfortable, I don't enjoy the things that boomers have like pensions and private healthcare until medicare kicks in.

A lot of the GenY guys that I know are coming into their own right now. Moving into management / upper management, given larger projects, buying homes, etc... Some aren't. Attitude and sacrifice seem to make the difference between those who are moving ahead and those who aren't.

So far as the leanings of the Democratic Party, GenZ is much earlier to the party than GenY was. And they have their own agenda

Media will need to dump the narrative that it was a tight race when this is over. Its more than likely not even close. If PA only counted the mail in ballots earlier, it would not have been like this. And going forward, this is how it should be for this tobe truly democratic. Mail in the ballots or have a nationwide holiday to vote. Regular people who actually work aint got no time to fall in line. Only people who live in their basement, those who pray all day and those who are retired have time for this. And these fuckers decide for everybody who actually pay the taxes.

by Anonymousreply 194November 6, 2020 4:23 PM

R177

Gen X-er democrats are still more progressive than boomer democrats and they've aged into somewhat higher mortality rates themselves also.

"The country" isn't moderate. The country is reflective of a sort of generational warfare between and within parties.

I voted Biden (of course), but don't act like your centrist values are eternal or that your lives are never-ending. Younger liberals as a whole hold different values and policy goals and eventually the world will reflect that.

by Anonymousreply 197November 6, 2020 4:24 PM

Did the younger voters show in larger numbers? Is there a major difference in the vote in a red state like Alabama or Oklahama, based on age? If not, why will outcomes be any different in the future? US is clearly split 50/50 based on geography (not really age.)

by Anonymousreply 198November 6, 2020 4:25 PM

It depends where you are and what's considered far left there. Well supported policies like a $15 min wage, unions, protection of a woman's choice and subsidized pre-school are considered far left ideals in some places where Repubs control the narrative but they are supported by R voters when phrased in a different way. Tax increases for high earners are always supported by the general population but again the R jumps in and pretends in a tax increases for everyone all the while THEY are the ones working to take away every protection and right blue collar workers have.

I have big issues with big city high earning Dems because I believe they want to protect their wealth while embracing leftist social issues. I am an average earner, blue collar guy. It's not because I am lazy or not willing to sacrifice. I am fine, I have enough but I am a Dem because I am not willing to allow the income inequality to continue and get shit on and it stings more when it's people in our party telling me I just need to move to SF and work harder. We also cannot pretend that every citiizen can become a white collar corporate guy. They can't. Not only because of our different abilities and circumstances but because the economy and society NEEDS blue collar workers and the Dems cannot allow the party to be steered by these high earners who are completely out of touch with people in the middle if the country who are very moderate, agree with our economic policies and very open to voting for us.

by Anonymousreply 199November 6, 2020 4:25 PM

Exactly r194.

This wasn't some super tight race. This was just a loong race.

Unfortunately the speed it took to get results has warped the narrative here.

The Trump klan will continue to act as if they're high powered individuals for a while, until they are made a laughing stock when little to no one will have anything to do with them after Trump is out of office. Junior Mint can demand the GOP and 2024 hopefuls do whatever he wants, but in short order none of those people are even going to remember that retard's name. They're going to realize they've wasted enough time supporting the Trump scum and it's time to move on to people who they think can actually get something done.

Um, no. As a generational whole, millennials and gen Z do not share your generation's economic trajectory. You perceive some kind of fixed, eternal life trajectory that each generation will eventually grow along.

The idea that millennials and gen Z democrats as a whole are going to become centrist sell-outs as they age into middle-aged economic prosperity is otherworldly. We know what boomer centrism does and won't forget because we were on the receiving end of it.

Being officially a Boomer, I do sense that the older Dems that R195 describes are out of touch.

And yet, the party of the Dems has for many years given lip service to what they tout as their platform (finances included, as R199 perceptively discusses.)

By global standards, the USA’s Dem Party is actually centrist-to right-leaning.

The Trump campaign was able to market Biden as a socialist via his propaganda.

No surprise, but being the master of projection, the biggest form of socialism in the US at the moment is one that Trump et al. has aided and abetted: corporate socialism.

But he was able to flood the opposition with pseudo-realities to confuse, distract and reimagine his preferred outcomes.

But this has been Trump’s playbook from the beginning.

Where has Ivana Trump been? It's just occurred to me I forgot she existed until I saw that pic of Eric's mug and saw the resemblance. Has she been to the WH, does she ever see her children? Has she been paid off to lay low because I think she used to be on those trashy reality shows.

r196, it’s not incidental that Native American reservations were hit harder than any other districts in the entire country. It’s not reported on, of course, but the Navajo nation, for one, has faced death tolls that exceed those of the definition of genocide. If you can contribute to Covid relief for anyone, please, consider donating to any of the indigenous communities.

[quote]Maybe it’s just that the nation, or at least 50.5 percent of it, was in need of a celebration, and Philadelphia was willing to start the party a little early. (As I type these words, people are dancing on a street corner about 100 yards from my house.) But it’s also that American cities, especially Democratic ones, and especially ones, like Philadelphia, with substantial Black populations, have taken an endless string of abuse from the Trump administration, being caricatured as lawless hellholes full of violent criminals, deliberately starved of resources needed to stem the spread of the coronavirus, explicitly cast as the enemy by the person with the biggest microphone in the world. Philadelphians never back away from a confrontation: As one tweeter put it, “The great thing about Philadelphia is you literally can’t insult them. They take any attempt at insult as either a compliment or an offer to fight which is also a compliment in Philly.” But in this case, knowing that the world was watching, and knowing that Trump would use any sign of unrest as a way to delegitimize the vote, they, for once, met the hatred with love.

As much money as I've lost in Vegas over the years, they fucking owe me six electoral votes!

by Anonymousreply 367November 6, 2020 5:30 PM

R363 yes but WHERE they’re coming from is the deal, man. They’ll only make his margin that much wider. It’s inevitable. News outlets call states all the time with far less evidence.

by Anonymousreply 368November 6, 2020 5:30 PM

Georgia has been reporting 99% of votes in for a long time now. Looks like they have 5,000,000 (5 million) votes already counted. Rough math says there are 50,000 votes left to count. All this time to count 50K votes?

by Anonymousreply 369November 6, 2020 5:31 PM

Does anyone know what time Biden's primetime address will be?

by Anonymousreply 370November 6, 2020 5:31 PM

NV: The longer these 123K votes take to process, the more opportunity for Trump fuckery (legal and otherwise) to occur. And fat guy looks besieged, and way out of his depth for the complexity of the situation.

Every one of those 123K will now be help up to the light and fought over.

[Quote] Has anybody thought to ask if Meghan Markle is OK?

No. We're trying to leave soap opera behind.

by Anonymousreply 372November 6, 2020 5:32 PM

They call states instantly because they know how they’re gonna go. We know how PA is gonna to. Zero excuse for them not calling it yet.

by Anonymousreply 373November 6, 2020 5:32 PM

I agree R368 and am just reporting what AP says.

by Anonymousreply 374November 6, 2020 5:32 PM

CALL. THE. ELECTION.

The public needs to force their hands. Biden may have to declare victory. This is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 375November 6, 2020 5:32 PM

I think once the GA Secretary of State said they were going to do a recount, GA probably stopped reporting the count altogether.

You know there are a lot of people in GA who don't want the state to go Biden, or if it does, want to quietly announce it after Biden's been called thanks to other states. I suspect that's why they're delaying.

NV's delays don't make sense. AZ will probably pull the recount delaying tactic too. Hopefully PA won't and AP or someone will just fucking call it.

by Anonymousreply 376November 6, 2020 5:33 PM

Biden is trying to by scheduling a prime time address where Kamala will speak as the first black woman VP. They wouldn’t do that if they don’t get to 270 officially

by Anonymousreply 378November 6, 2020 5:33 PM

Trump got one thing right. No mention of COVID beginning 11/4. They need to call this motherfucker now...

by Anonymousreply 380November 6, 2020 5:35 PM

AP called Arizona with BY FAR less information. It’s inexcusable they haven’t called PA. We see what they’re doing.

by Anonymousreply 393November 6, 2020 5:39 PM

If I had to guess the networks and AP want the numbers in Pennsylvania to be pretty high up in favor of Biden before they call it.

Two reasons for that:

1. They get stellar rating$ today as everyone keeps watching to see when they finally call it.

2. They know the vote count is moving at a good clip and they want to wait until it's a pretty big number before they hit "Play"...and yet, they don't want someone else to beat them to it.

by Anonymousreply 394November 6, 2020 5:40 PM

R386, they’re waiting for everyone who has been paying attention to collapse from exhaustion so they can commit fraud. You know Dump has been on the phone making threats to the governors and seccy’s of state demanding they announce he won any outstanding votes.

R392 You do realize right that everyone cannot earn 6 figures no matter how hard they work? And that lots of us are very content with our average salaries and don't even want 6 figure salaries but we want protections and rights in the workplace and a fair wage. It's really as simple as that. Every other Western country has 20+ days paid vacation, paid maternity leave, affordable healthcare, higher taxes on higher earners etc.. That's all we are asking for. You cannot put your head in the sand and say work your ass off like my Muslim friend you lazy bastards or tough shit if you end up living in poverty in the richest country on earth. Tough shit if you cannot afford to have children because of day care costs. Tough shit if your business fails because Amazon is handled with kid gloves and mom and pops cannot compete. No sure how long are they going to feed us "on path" "on casp", "on track" bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 489November 6, 2020 6:17 PM

R486 No-one giving anything but 'primetime'. I guess 8-9pm EST

by Anonymousreply 490November 6, 2020 6:17 PM

And it's very likely that Biden will carry PA r474, and with that he will have won the election. Given, then, how monumental the announcement of a Biden win in PA will be, it's perhaps best to know officially and 100% for sure that it's accurate and for everything to be above board by having all the votes counted. Waiting a little longer won't hurt.

by Anonymousreply 503November 6, 2020 6:21 PM

What’s clear is that these states need to stop relying on Election Day volunteers who are in their 70s to do this counting. People who are in bed by 7pm should not be responsible for counting. They need to be counting 24/7. This is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 504November 6, 2020 6:22 PM

R462 No, I don't think the Republicans have a legitimate grievance since the county sent out corrected ballots after realizing their error and then just extended the deadline. The errors didn't favor one candidate over the other. They had to do with missing secrecy sleeves and damage in general. The Republicans can make a fuss, but I think it will come to nothing.

by Anonymousreply 505November 6, 2020 6:22 PM

Stacey Abrams has seriously done something historic here. Georgia hasn't voted Democratic in 30 years and it looks like it's actually happening! I wish she had the VP slot (don't get me wrong, I think Kamala is great), so the next best thing is a high-ranking cabinet position.

"According to sources in the Republican Party at the state and national levels, the Trump campaign is discussing contingency plans to bypass election results and appoint loyal electors in battleground states where Republicans hold the legislative majority. With a justification based on claims of rampant fraud, Trump would ask state legislators to set aside the popular vote and exercise their power to choose a slate of electors directly. The longer Trump succeeds in keeping the vote count in doubt, the more pressure legislators will feel to act before the safe-harbor deadline expires."
