Sort of amused at some of you who are surprised a Brit or Irish man would be fat. That's like wondering why a Texan is fat! Once you get out of the posh and/or hip London neighbourhoods the food is absolutely dire unless you really make a conscious effort to eat well. The climate is shit so you can't do can't exercise outdoors. In addition to the pub grub, high street calorie laden sausage rolls and pies, chip shops, chain fast food, junk food, pre-packed 'meal deals' etc... the average working class person has a dreadful diet of processed meats, white carbs, ready meals, minimal (boiled) veggies and lifestyle related diseases are very high. When McDonald's re-opened after the first lock down idiots queued up for hours blocking traffic so much that police has to be sent out to manage the flow of traffic.

Nope, all the restaurants offer multiple healthy options (even pub restaurants like Wetherspoons) and big portions of vegetables with every meat dish. Food prices are kept low and you can stock up on fruit and veg in supermarkets very cheaply. It's a first world country, not some slum. When I went to America I was appalled by how massive the portions are. Far more steak, far fewer vegetable options on the plate.

I've lived in the UK all my life, both in the north and the south east. It's incredibly easy to eat healthily even if you don't want to cook.

Lewis Capaldi is Scots-Italian, just to explain his community a little bit. There has been an Italian community in Scotland since at least the 1860s. They have traditionally often owned cafés, restaurants and ice cream businesses. They are perhaps most associated with chip (French fries to Americans) shops. Today Scots-Italians are quite prominent in the law and politics. Many of them maintain a connection to Italy, and it is quite common for them to retire there, especially Tuscany, where a lot of their families originally came from. There is a town in Tuscany called Barga, which has a big population of Scottish retirees.

I knew an old lady who although she was born in Scotland, had a pronounced Italian accent all her life. She only learned English when she went to school. She is still gaining, but a little bit slower.

It is hard for fatties to reduce the amount of food they consume so she is bound to give up and continue feasting full time.

She is taking a very strong medication so she must be in a lot of pain. Probably a lot of cavities in her teeth caused by the sugar she consumes every single day.
