He, like pretty much every drag performer before Trans Inc.®️ put a chokehold on the “LGBTQ+ Community”, always made tranny references. He played trannies on TV (NOT drag), performed in “Ticked Off Trannies With Knives” which he promoted around his time on S4, and of course his original song parody “The Vagina Song.”

Willam is of course right in his original opinion of tranny “drag queens” (as is RuPaul). But they’ll bow down to fame and the dollar. Courtney Act didn’t change his spots (and let’s not get STARTED on her).

Courtney Act didn’t teach him anything. Willam only came out as pro trans cause he cares about money and attention more than he cares about throwing trans people under the bus.

R26 I've never understood the Mathu Andersen drama. What's the deal? Everyone is so vague about it.

I’ve heard two stories about Mathu : one is he got very very sick and couldn’t continue working, and that Ru was a nasty cold bitch about it. The second story is that Mathu and Ru got into a huge fight while doing Ru’s makeup for an episode and Mathu walked off while Ru’s face was half done-apparently there is an episode of the show where you can see this

^^ I think Willam Willam visited Mathu when he was sick in hospital. He saw Ru afterwards in the street and screamed at him for not going to see Mathu, RuPaul called him a fucking bitch and drove away, or something like that.

R35, it should be noted that Ru was, and most likely still is, footing the bill for all of Mathu’s healthcare and accommodations. He just doesn’t need to brag about it for attention on a podcast like Willam was by acting like Mother Teresa for bringing him a milkshake. The issue was that Mathu wanted (or Willam SAID he wanted) Ru to reach out to him and Ru didn’t want to because of the tense circumstances of their falling out.

I've gone back and started re-watching season 1. I know it gets a lot of shit from fans for the low production values, but it was so unforced and didn't take itself too seriously. I remember how refreshing it felt at the time. It's bizarre to see Ru look like he's having FUN with the girls and enjoying himself. Now he mostly looks like he's counting the dollars he's chatting with the girls.

I remember being so annoyed with Shannel at the time, but I've come to appreciate her. Ongina, Tammie Brown, Nina Flowers, Bebe, all so great. I can watch Tammie Brown forever.

I have met a few - William very very nice. Alaska was sweet and genuine. Manilla - met her at Disneyland riding the train to New Orleans Square - when we got off I asked him if his name was Karl with a k and he laughed and said yes, I said, I thought you should have won. He was very nice we ended up in line next to each other for haunted mansion - we took pics, very nice.

The Mathu drama. When RPDR moved to VH1 the budget got increased. Mathu was doing Ru's makeup for the show when he got a call from his agent. He stepped out to take the call. His agent told him the show was not going to pay him any more money, so he hung up and walked out with Ru having his makeup half done. Raven had to step in and do it and it took her a while to get his make upright (you can see in episodes). Delta was brought in to do Ru's wigs. Ru never spoke to Mathu after that. William had hired Mathu to shoot and style his cover for Suck Less. They had also remained friends after RPDR. When Mathu got sick, he was asking to see or talk to Ru, presumably to set the record straight and maybe rekindle a friendship. Ru refused to take his call. Willam's studio is right across the street from WOW studios and he saw Ru one day and shouted at him about Mathu. Ru was leaving, pulled up in his car, and shouted HOW DARE YOU? and went on about how much he has done for queens. Willam replied he was going to take his sick friend some food, which is more than Ru has ever done for Mathu and Ru sped off.

also - Delta did Ru's wigs for the season it was nominated for an Emmy for hair and makeup but they left her name off so she never got that Emmy. When the show went to the UK, Delta just assumed she was going with the rest of the crew, except she never got the call. No one called her to tell her she was no longer required. Delta and Raven were nominated for an Emmy the first season but it turned out they were not working on the show that was nominated - they then won the next year but were snubbed after that.

R70, close enough. AJ and the Queen shot before UK. Delta needed to be in the union for that one, but either couldn’t afford/didn’t want to sign up for it so she was replaced. The replacement went on to UK too and has been working with Ru since.

Reportedly production/Rupaul wanted to get Pearl to talk about something traumatic from her past in order to create an emotional narrative for the show. Pearl wouldn’t play into that and clammed up instead, which is why Rupaul went after her.

R83, Rupaul sounds really REALLY immature there, and Michelle too with the whole "hold my earrings" thing. This isn't the mentality someone should have whose job it is to judge others in a competitive setting. This might also explain why Ru always appears stiff and robotic when interacting with the queens. He's making it too personal when he should be impartial.

And, also Pearl, like Willam, I find rather pathetic. He made a whole big stink about not needing the show because he was going to be successful one way or another but here he is many years later and not so cute anymore still only recognized for being on Rupaul's Drag Race.

Drag Race is still a huge hit but RuPaul hasn’t broken out of drag. His talk show failed and that talent show he judged on with Drew Barrymore failed. He may want to keep his ego in check because one day the teens will move on from Drag Race.

R97, I don’t know about that. I suspect something went down with Alaska and World of Wonder. Lately, so many of the queens have been returning to the show. Bianca, Trixie, Jinkx...all the big names have been doing werk room walkthroughs. You can’t get Vanjie off the show. And now with Celebrity Drag Race, three legendary queens appear every week. And nothing from Alaska. The last time she was on was during All Stars 4 but that was an instance where it would’ve been suspicious if she hadn’t been there.

Alaska always went on and on about what a superfan she was of the show. I doubt it’s a salary issue. Alaska has had rumors for a while that she’s an asshole to deal with. And I don’t think that irrelevant Race Chaser podcast she does with Willam is the deal breaker. I’d love to know the true story of what happened there.

I think RuPaul was intimidated by Pearl in a way she normally isn’t. She’s still the Queen of Drag and knows the winners of her show will tour for a few years, maybe make a few hundred thousand, and will never threaten her position. But Pearl was, in all honestly, a gorgeous boy. He had the possibility to do things that Ru never could. As together as she makes herself sound, I could see something like that turning a Pearl into an antagonist for Ru.

Pearl also allegedly slept with the same producer that Willam did to get a higher placement, as did Trinity. The fact that the show reacted the way they did over Sherry Pie yet this producer (first name Steven) keeps leveraging his power to gain sexual favors from the contestants and still keeps his job is pretty fucked up. Hopefully he’ll get MeToo’d as well.

Not sure who is RU's favorite (other than Heidi and Crystal this season). Some RPDR queens have said Ru does not even remember their names after their seasons. Ru has excused it as just having too many damn seasons to remember.

Hi R109, My memory isn't the greatest, so anyone please correct whatever I get wrong. RuPaul did an interview with Terry back in March (I forget if that was his first time with her). I think she brought up how he co-managed his ranch in Wyoming with partner and she threw out the figure of 600 acres or something. He corrected her and said, oh, no, 60,000 acres. And she asked him about it and he explained that with a ranch that big it's a matter of land management where you lease out the land to various companies/people for various things: free grazing, mineral rights, selling water to oil companies, etc. I *think* it stopped there and Terry didn't ask him about what mineral rights/selling water entailed. Someone smart was listening and figured out that leasing out land for mineral rights/selling water likely equated to fracking and posted it on Twitter. I don't really understand fracking, but RuPaul also didn't speak up when this deduction went viral.

SO ... he had already mentioned this on Jimmy Kimmel in December 2018. But, granted, Terry Gross' audience is going to be more plugged in to these kind of matters.

I saw them but mostly no one blinked an eye. A Friday night show. At intermission his hubby left and Ru put up his hoodie over half his face and pretended to sleep the entire intermission. Side note, his hubby is not cute at all in person. He was close to Detox in the face dept. Step away from the plastic! Yikes!

Based on what Pearl and others explained, it seems RuPaul was trying to mine for drama. Pearl wouldn't play his game and share about his personal life (nor should he have, as he obviously wasn't ready to), so RuPaul drummed up the drama on his own. And, then, on What's the Tea?, RuPaul continues to push a false narrative. For what reason? I have no idea, other than he's delusional and doesn't give a fuck. Was he threatened by Pearl? Sure he was. He was threatened by someone who wouldn't give in and play his game, because they weren't ready to share and nor were they obligated. Pearl is going to talk about HIS life on HIS terms, not for RuPaul's ratings. So, what does RuPaul do? He makes the drama up. Certainly, RuPaul, as creator/producer, has a show to make. It's his job. But, to continue to lie about it? Bizarre.

Pearl's "My Past" video is heartbreaking. That guy has obviously gone through so much in a childhood filled with abuse by multiple people (though, some trolls on here will say "he knew what he was doing" and "he asked for it"; to those assholes, I say "fuck off"). He made this video THREE years after the series, and he only shared a fraction of what he has been through.

He comes across to me as very genuine and his motivations appear to be about reckoning with his past, and sharing what he feels comfortable with, as he seems extremely appreciative of his fans and supporters. It also seems pretty clear that he's still processing and sorting himself out. This video is from 2018.

Sorry, I have a few more words to add ...

Pearl possesses a level of physical beauty that is just beyond (obviously). But, he comes across as extremely humble and self-deprecating, as well. He has a disarming approach that would put most people at ease that you wouldn't normally find with someone who looks like him (except for those immature like myself, who would still find a way to be a mumbling idiot if I found myself in a conversation with him). As he has admitted, he has probably fucked over a lot of people during his youth (including as a young adult), but seems to have learned from his past and grown up and learned to respect people more. However, I look at his trajectory compared to other queens who come across as less genuine and have enjoyed more "success," and it makes me sad. Like, unrepentant assholes in this world tend to have more of an advantage. It also sounds like he doesn't necessarily want a career exclusively in front of the camera.

I wish Pearl the best. I don't think my impression of him was all that great when I watched his season (and that's in part because I bought into the editing), but now I absolutely adore him. I'm cheering for him on the sidelines. It's taking him a long time to sort through his issues, but he does have a lot on his plate. It sounds like he's building a strong foundation in the process and his healing process has been a net positive.

Pearl’s Roxanne videos on YouTube are legitimately funny. I always go into these things with reasonable expectations — like Snatch Game — but he’s doing some professional level work with those impressions and deserves a second look.

I’m rewatching Season 2 and remembering how I hated that Tyra won because her personality sucked, but the bitch did turn it out. I also think Rupaul saw her as a kind of mini-me, but less threatening because she lacked Ru’s charisma and savvy. Too bad she squandered her win and went crazy. I get that she probably got a lot of hate and was eclipsed by Raven and Juju in popularity, but they just made for better tv. Tyra could have stepped her game up but instead played the victim.

R125, Tyra just keeps getting messier and messier. There are some days she posts long, thoughtful messages about reflecting on her past behavior and saying she wants to take steps to better herself. Then a month later, she’ll post a long rant about how she hates being a drag queen and that people can never look past the glamour and see her as her boy self. She quits drag, then unquits the next day. It’s all detailed the RPDRDrama subreddit, but the community there is one of the worst on the internet, so tread lightly. You will never meet as many dumb and psychologically damaged people in your life as you will there.

But perhaps that’s why Tyra is such a topic there. It seems to be a mental illness/drug issue with her. It’s a shame she keeps shooting herself in the foot. She’d be a great candidate to come back to All Stars and prove that she earned her crown. It would also help her financial situation. Last we heard, she was working at an Amazon fulfillment center.

R132 I think a lot of the problems with the current seasons (maybe season 7 onwards) is that so many of the younger contestants have grown up watching drag race. Their ideas about what drag are/can do only come from the show itself. Coupled with the fact that Ru is obviously biased towards young queens, the show has become very predictable. At least older seasons had queens with interesting personalities/well developed drag personas. For example, the show keeps beating us over the head with how "kooky" Crystal is... and... is she? Is she really that kooky? She seems like a nice guy, but christ. I wouldn't pay to see that shit. Same with Yvie Oddly. Their ~*~QuIrKiNeSs~*~ doesn't hold up when you compare them to a queen like Tammie Brown, who seems like a genuine freak!!! At least her drag is... her own? And not derivative of something that was already ON drag race? I think I might tap out after Season 12.

I mostly tapped out sometime in Season 7. I returned only to watch faves. I watched bits of S9 (I was a fan of Charlie Hides' YouTube channel) and All-Stars 2 (I love Alyssa) & All-Stars 3 (huge Shangela fan). I haven't seen anything since.

I was turned off by the weird drop in production values in S7, but also the lack of older queens (both of whom exited early). It wasn't that interesting to me overall. Of course, I think I was being overly harsh. But, I do think there is something to be said for those who didn't grow up on the series, as R133 pointed out. Too many queens were either there for just the fame of it all and/or weren't seasoned enough.

I think Bianca will be the best winner the show has ever had, though, as well as the best example of when most queens should be going on that show. So, when I look back, that's when the series crested, I think it was there (Season 6).

Tammie Brown is one of my Top 5. Love her forever. Sadly, I don't think RuPaul would put someone like her on today.

After season 6 there is a marked change in tone to the show. It‘a multiple things.

The queens are young and grew up with the show, and these younger queens are more looks than performance based-they got their start on Instagram instead of their local gay bar.

Ru seems to be less engaged as she develops and stars in shows other than this one.

The departure of longtime Drag Race mainstays like Santino, Lucian Piane, Mathu Andersen, etc., had a negative impact.

In the first several seasons, there were always a few queens that excited people in their hometown because of their /?reputation. That hasn’t been the case in several seasons from what I recall.

Overall, this show is aging and is starting to deteriorate in quality. I’d guess that it has several more seasons left in it however-its becoming more and more popular in the mainstream. It’s getting relatively good ratings on VH1 and I’m sure the old seasons are popular Streaming on Hulu

Strangely I have more sympathy for the Tyra on Season 2 than I did when I first watched, but not a lot for the person he is now. I looked at that Drama subreddit and they mostly seem to defend her because they hate WOW and Rupaul. That’s another thing I think has affected the quality of the show: “fans” are younger and balk at the sign of any drama or aggressive personalities. A show about bitchy drag queens competing and throwing barbs at each other has become all lovey dovey in recent seasons. And if someone does act up (like Brita did this season), the weirdo trolls send them death threats. It’s the double edged sword of the show blowing up in pop culture. With other drag themed shows popping up now, I think Drag Race will only last as long as Rupaul wants to do it.

I don't keep up with The Other Tyra these days, but I watched S2 two or three years after it aired. I loved her. She was a working mama and just needed to feed her kid. I thought she was entertaining and misunderstood. But, I wasn't crazy about the other queens like Raven. They were mostly forgettable. But, Tyra? Nope, I remember her.

R134 Season 7 really marked a change in the show. I haven't re-watched Seasons 5 or 6 in a loooong time, so I can't quite compare , but Ru just seemed so OVER IT during Season 7. Something else must have been going on with Ru during that season. Not to bring up Pearl, YET AGAIN, but I still don't think Ru's anger towards her makes sense. Maybe I'm missing something, but I never got the impression from watching Season 7 that she didn't WANT to be there. Good grief, that was all anyone talked about. It’s still weird that people bring up season seven as the worst season. Yes, it was a noticeable decrease in quality with weird casting and random challenges but gave us some legends like Trixie and Katya (who launched into superstardom or their own), Ginger Minj (who received prestigious acting work), and Violet as a fashion icon.

The worst season of the show really is 11 which was just an embarrassment from start to finish with the most untalented and frankly unlikable cast the show ever had. If Nina fucking West is your only breakout star, that’s pitiful.

7 came after 5 and 6 which were fan favorite seasons when the show was at its peak so it got a lot of hate r151.

Season 2 is definitely the bitchiest. I loved the episode of S2 Untucked when Sonique, Morgan, and Sahara were raking Mystique over the coals.

Kandy Ho lost that lip sync. Jaiden is a fierce lip syncer. I could tell from the first two seconds where she hit the beat with a head snap she was going to win. Kandy Ho is a typical PR queen, she does not do her own make up or make her own outfits.

As mentioned above, Season 7 suffered from two major problems: having to follow the excellent Season 6, and the challenges themselves. Smaller factors such as Untucked moving to online-only with a completely different format, and Santino being replaced by Carson and Ross also weren't exactly welcomed by the fan base. The panel should include someone who has a fashion background.

Some of those challenges in the first half of Season 7 were just awful. I read on Reddit (so grain of salt, etc. etc.) that the writer who came up with Season 7's challenges was a newbie to the show, and wasn't invited back for Season 8. There were indeed many memorable queens in that season, but even they would say that the challenges made it difficult for them to showcase their talents. In her Exposed interview with Joseph Shepherd, Katya brought up the Merle Ginsberg challenge as an example of that, and it was a challenge she won! You don't cast queens like Violet Chachki and Miss Fame, and give them a seemingly endless run of lame "acting" challenges, with no fashion challenges in between.

They reduced the number of queens for Season 8 from 14 to 12, but in retrospect, perhaps they should have done the same for Season 7 (or have 13 each). Jasmine Masters is a walking, talking meme, and good for her for getting some degree of success from that, but the fact remains that she was a terrible Drag Race contestant. Sasha Belle was total filler and also not ready for prime time (cute as a boy though, despite the whiny voice).

I have my own personal, and controversial, opinion about Season 11 and the below average standard of queens that season - since they knew they were bringing Vanjie back as soon as (or even before) Season 10 ended, and clearly didn't want her to be an early boot again, they cast a bunch of fillers that had no chance of outshining her. I just don't know how it was that so many queens who were completely out of their element, or just totally mediocre (such as Soju, Kahanna, Mercedes and Rajah) actually made it onto the show. I had suspected that the pool was running dry among aspirational contestants, but thankfully Season 12's high caliber killed that concern.

Really would love an international Drag Race- bring in the winners from Thailand, UK, Canada, although France and Germany has some fantastic queens.

Season 11 was odd because they pulled heavy from legacy ((montrese, davenport, Plastique (from the house of edwards) and Raja O'hara). It was pagent heavy half the cast were in pagents or winners and then there was Yvie and Silky. It was as if Silky read a book about how to get camera time on the show.

Alaska admitted to drug problems after her season on All Stars 2 - She said after season 5 she was offered everything, drugs, boys and she took part of all of it. Bianca always jokes about Lady Bunny introducing her to coke. I think drugs are pretty common with drag queens in general. Late nights, a few bumps and you go on stage. All of the RPDR girls talk about race chasers. What they call fans that want to fuck them. Willam is notorious for taking advantage of that. Being a RPDR girl and a size queen - he will take the race chaser with the biggest dick, I remember Alaska was doing her backstage video and William was on camera with him, his trade hanging around in the background and Willam points out this big long vein on the back of the guy's leg and says "it's almost as long as the one on your dick."

I'm a former stripper so I relate to drag queens in the sense of performing and creating a persona.

1) There's rumors that World of Wonder pays for Mathu's care but maybe it's just insurance from his many years of working for them. Mathu really is solely responsible for RuPaul's look. He's the one that created the "Supermodel" or Big Black Barbie Doll look that made her a huge star. If you look at photos/video of RuPaul BEFORE that, he was a mess with terrible make up. And, you can always tell Mathu wasn't around if you see photos/video of Ru AFTER her success (ie her appearance on Project Runway) because Ru looks terrible without Mathu's talents.

2) RuPaul has been a bitch since the beginning. And, to be fair, you have to be tough and focused to climb the ladder of success but she's treated people poorly for a very long time. Ask bar owners and event producers who booked her in the late 90s/early 2000s in between her success years (early 90s with Supermodel of the World and RPDR in 2008). She was famous for her cunty behavior.

3) There's a lot of drugs in drag world, especially at RPDR level since they're constantly in that world of night clubs and showbiz where there's a lot of opportunities. Not all of them and not all the time (if you're doing drugs all the time, you don't function and then you don't work) but it's there. It is a bit surprising that there's only been one RPDR death due to drugs.

I dunno. Why did AS2 have so many season 5 queens? I’m glad they brought queens from the earlier seasons back. A lot of the kids who started watching in season 8 or 9 have no idea who they are. They get introduced to a new audience.

It's interesting that there aren't any queens from seasons 4-7 on All Stars 5, imho. I guess there aren't a lot of queens left from those seasons who'd be good for All Stars. Like, who is left? Serena Cha Cha? Madame LaQueer? It's also refreshing that there aren't any queens from S11 on All Stars 5. Not because that season sucked, because it did, but I always think the queens who just come off of finishing a season and are thrown into All Stars get a raw deal (even if they win like Monet). They aren't given years to polish their drag like queens from other seasons are.

Monet and Monique coming back to All Stars literally months after S10 was a bad mistake, especially in the latter’s case. She was charming, but could also be shrill and obnoxious. After a year straight of her on TV, she wore out her welcome. I don’t have any desire to see her again.

Monet’s win would have been less controversial if she waited until she polished her act more — which is great now, by the way — and assembled a high quality wardrobe from top designers. Her runways on AS4 were embarrassing.

R217, Kennedy came across even worse than Violet and had a shitty, unlikable attitude. No matter how hard the show pushed her, she never took off. And no, it wasn’t because of racism. There are plenty of black queens on the show with charm and originality that are beloved. Kennedy had neither. She’s all high kicks and death drops, which is what 80% of the show’s competitors already serve us.

I was at the season 7 finale at the Orpheum Theater DTLA. Almost 7 hours there and it was fucking awesome! The crowd lost their shit the entire time when Pearl was on stage. Pearl was by far the favorite of the crowd. Ginger was second favorite and Violet was third. Ginger won the LS. No competition but the edit in the show it. That was fucking shady. The crowd loved Ginger's performance. Peal did well and honestly Violet was a meh with the crow with her LS. We had to re-film the LS clapping and reactions many times after that.The crowd loved Violets outfits. They were amazing.

The bottom two would either lip sync to a male song or a female song. At one point, they could merge.

For all the outrage we have each year about the winner of RPDR, I'm surprised that not a lot of people comment on the fact that it's obvious Ru really leans towards picking winners who remind him of himself in one way or another. I don't think it's always clear to see, but I think it's there. He sees himself in fashion queens like Violet, Aquaria, Tyra and Raja. Queens like Sharon Needles, Jinkx, and Yvie remind Ru of how he's a "rebel" and takes him back to his younger days as a "genderfuck" queen. Ru obviously thinks he's pretty funny so that explains Bianca and Bob the Drag Queen. Maybe Bebe is an outlier, but only because it was the first season and more tongue in cheek. It wouldn't surprise me if Ru really wanted to crown Gigi this season, but due to her idiotic actions (trying to cheat, those tone deaf comments, etc.) she had to give it to Jaida.

Anyway, this is why I don't think we'd ever get a big girl winner, for example. It's just not an image that Ru has in his mind of himself.

Darienne, Adore, Courtney and Bianca still talk every day via group text. They are best of friends, from their bonding on season 6. I met them all during the tour they did for World Pride and they are a close and funny bitter bitchy group. It's Adore that I can't understand how she fits. But they bonded. Bianca loves her and helps her in a lot of ways I think. The other three were witty and bitchy and experienced. Adore is quite dumb and her Drag is obviously different. Regardless their four way friendship exists to this day. Season 6 was a long while ago.

Bendela is a decidedly weird and untrustworthy guy. The feud with Darienne WAS manufactured. Their lack of appreciation for each other was not.

Chi Chi was recently diagnosed with some chronic illness that I believe affects her joints. It emerged around the time that she did All Stars, so that may be why she looked out of it.

Chi Chi was also diagnosed with scleroderma not too long after, so I'm sure that affected her as well. I think Chi Chi just gave up and wanted to go home. You can tell it's really affected her appearance. Apparently she can't even do her own makeup anymore due to the effects of it.

Chi Chi also revealed on her Instagram about a year ago that she started the process of transitioning in her late teens ("for all the wrong reasons"), but stopped because she reacted so badly to the hormone treatments.

Jujubee was a fake mess talking about how her "inner saboteur" led her do so many drugs and drink and shit. Well, it's catchy. Blair was more honest. I work in bars for a living. I was partying too much. I want a long successful career. I had to stop the self destruction. Juju's trying to win honey. She's quick and charming and a great performer on stage - no one gets booked for more weddings and corporate gigs than Jujubee. He's taken an interesting path - not wanting to travel far from Boston for too long. He was part of a pretty happy couple for a long time. Seemingly. So I don't think Juju is contracted to win. Same as Bendela. Jujubee is not going to travel the world being a Ru Girl. His long term relationship ended, he got sober and lost a bit of his fun. He WAS seriously into drugs. I still like him a lot and he was amazing the couple times we hired him - but he looks older than his age now and his use of RuPlatitudes are a bit disappointing.

I don't love Katya at all. But she's got a great look. All of it. That dudes' face is made for drag. He's almost a woman, but he purposefully works against that. A few contestants need teeth work and a good dermatologist. But I still enjoy drag as Female Illusion. Look at Manilla. He's gorgeous and feminine and flirtatious and PRETTY in Drag. Very skilled in proportion and very inventive within his "brand." But he's a thin lipped tall Asian dude with no eyebrows or eyelashes out of Drag. Bags under his eyes. Masculine body postures and angles. He's a top for sure. That's one of many reasons why Manila is one of the greatest contestants of all time. She's camp and pretty, girly even. At times, but as a DRAG QUEEN. Not someone who blows up their lips and changes their physique to better resemble a biological female. Manila lives his life as a man. A bitchy gay man, ha, but he's not straddling genders. I am not a fan of Willam, Alaska and Bianca's sudden embrace of all things non binary. What bullshit. Greed. Manilla likes a pretty boyfriend. Lots of us do. He's a top Drag Queen and a sexy creative guy. He's artistic, not confused. It ain't all about the paint and fashion. There's an art to it.

In case no one cleared up the Mahu/Ru drama. Mathu did Ru's makeup exclusively when the show was on Logo but had a shitty budget. Ru would include Mathu on camera as a photographer and to direct some videos etc. This would get Mathu more money. When the show moved to Vh1 - the budget got a huge increase and Ru was getting more money. Mathu, through his agent, had asked for more as well. His agent was told by production, that they would not be paying more than the standard Hair and Makeup artist, insinuating Mathu can be replaced. Mathu got a call from his agent in the middle of doing Ru for the show. He told him what was said and Mathu decided to walk out. Then the management got involved. Ru was told he wanted a huge raise and walked out when he didn't get it, Mathu was told Ru didn't want to pay him more - the sad truth is If Ru and Mathu talked to each other it probably would have worked out. Mathu got sick, and Willam who used him for his book Suck Less became good friends with him. He would visit him every day and bring him milkshakes (Mathu's favorite). Mathu would wax on about how Ru abandoned him. Willam has a studio right across the street from WOW and happened to see Ru leaving one day and shouted at him about Mathu. Ru stopped his car and yelled back, "How dare you?" Willam read him for not seeing Mathu who was sick and letting his fame get in the way of his friendships. Ru sped off. That was that. - Ru got Raven and Delta to do his wigs and make-up - it was rough going for a few episodes but eventually, they got there. Apparently he was holding one of Ru's wigs hostage, or forgot it when he went to work, and it turned into a horrible screaming match, with Mathu quitting, thus leaving Ru in the lurch for filming.
