I'm finally warming up to Donny Boaz as Chance.

They've been playing him a lot and he actually has decent chemistry with Melissa Ordway.

We now have a better idea why the show wanted to bring back Casey Reed in the form of Sjeil Marin, the daughter of Scoche Marin (NuKatherine Chancellor). Over the next few weeks, you will see Nikki start to drink again. Sjeil’s Dr. Casey Reed returns for her intervention, which you see pictured at the link. Apparently, MTS has let the show know that she wants to retire within 3 years. Bringing Sjeil on as Casey now gives the show time to position her as the show’s leading lady. Casey will be paired with Jack and they will take Victor and Nikki’s place as the show’s signature power couple. MTS is said to be VERY impressed with Sjeil, but she still has significant issues with Scoche.

Y&R really seems to be straining to include Phyllis on the canvas. The character has been largely unneeded since Stafford returned in June.

I like seeing Staff onscreen and prefer her to Gina, but for fucks sake give this woman something interesting to do. YR is five or 6 weeks. BB about the same. With the impeachment hearings, the episodes may still be behind. So probably until the end of next month we will see new shows.

If they have to go on showdown and it appears that episodes will run out, they can always cut down on the number of new episodes aired a week. Maybe two new episodes a week and classic episodes the other three days.

She was originally slated to arrive earlier, but TPTB thought that the opportunity to show classic episodes would enhance Scoche’s entrance.

I'm hoping Scoche Marin's official fan club is up and running soon. I'm anxious to write in for the newsletter and an autographed 8x10 glossy .

If CBS runs out of new Y&R episodes to broadcast, the network will probably fill the hour with some old, frau-centic, prime time serialized dramas (e.g. The Good Wife, Judging Amy, etc.) that they own and distribute themselves, or maybe even Melrose Place or 90210 that CBS acquired from a past merger. They can just move something from CBS All Access.

Or they could just run "classic" episodes of the show.

I agree the Kyle & Summer scenes were awful. I thought the Tessa & Mariah scenes were beautifully written & acted. I don't usually care for them because the Tessa actress isn't the best but I thought she was much improved today. I'm impressed that YR gave as much time & care to the lesbian characters as they have the last few days. They even had the weekly promo all about their break up.

Theo & Lola have been a welcome surprise. Those 2 have much better chem than Kyle/Summer, Kyle/Lola or Summer/Theo.

I know Kyle/Summer have their fans, but the about-face with Lola and acting like they didn't spend a YEAR on that story is just too strange. Anybody know what drove that? Just a writer's preference or did the fans actually prefer Kyle/Summer?

Well, if you go by the FB posts there is definitely more Kyle/Lola fans by far. I think JG changed it because he was always into putting Kyle/Summer together. (his previous tenure).

My issues with this switch from Kyle/Lola to Kyle/Summer is ir came out of nowhere, made no sense & the scripts have him saying he never stopped loving/wanting Summer & he and Lola were never real. WTF?

It should've never been rushed & it should've been crafted in a way that we actually saw their marriage fraying. And most importantly they should never try & sell that he never loved Lola. The viewers saw what we saw. You can't take that back.

IMO it seems YR has egg on its face because Lola/Theo have 100% better chemistry & potential than Kyle/Summer. That's saying something because Theo/Lola aren't even together yet. He's just being the supportive friend.

Billy and Lily and Jill.....these scenes are going off the rails. Who really cares? Social influencers? What does Chancellor Industries do? Do they do makeup, too?

And Elena didn't even flinch when DullVon told that twink that the best feeling in the world is helping somene.....

What's happening with production, by the way? Has there been any announcement? Even with preemptions in certain markets and areas they have consistently kept releasing one new episode a day on the CBS website, and there's only so long that they can do that for. Unlike DAYS, they don't have a 6-month stash of filmed episodes to fall back on. Plus the cast has to be extra leery about next steps, considering one of their own has been affected (Greg Rikaart).

They did not release one Friday, 3/20/20, and they skipped quite a few during the impeachment farce.

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti said Wednesday during his daily coronavirus update that he expects the "safer at home" lockdown to go into May.

Y&R doesn't have enough episodes in the can to continue airing new episodes very far into May. Not sure exactly how far in advance Y&R films, but I don't think more than 5 to 6 weeks.

There's usually about 35 calendar days out. Sample script shows the two dates.

The non DAYS soaps need to do what the UK soaps are doing: stagger their new episodes.

Do like the UK and air new episodes 3 episodes /week and air 2 Classic episodes per week. The UK isn't airing random classic episodes either. They are picking a classic storyline & then airing episodes from that story.

I think only Hollyoaks is adding two Classic ("Favorite") episodes per week, yet those won't even be airing on regular Channel 4, but instead will be on the network's secondary E4 channel (where First Look Hollyoaks usually airs).

As for the other three soaps, they've already been airing "Classics" elsewhere. Classic EastEnders is on the Drama channel every afternoon M-F. And ITV airs two episodes of Classic Corrie and Classic Emmerdale on their secondary ITV3 channel in the very early morning M-F.

Scanning the UK TV Guide for next week it looks like Channel 4, the BBC and ITV all plan to fill the gaps for their first-run, soap operas with LOTS OF NON-SOAP material.

BBC shows things like "The One Show", "A Question of Sport", and "Question Time" in place of EastEnders.

Meanwhile, ITV is going with "You've Been Framed", "Best Walks with a View", and "Tonight" to fill the slots where first-run Corrie and Emmerdale would be.

R134 I'm just glad they finally mentioned Mamie. You can't tell the story of John, Dina, and the Abbott children without mentioning Mamie. When Dina left them, Mamie became their substitute mother. There was always real love and affection between Mamie, John, Jack, Ashley, and Tracy. I realize that it might now be seen as politically incorrect, but for longtime viewers, we witnessed it. If they could manage to get either Marguerite Ray(aged 89) or Veronica Redd(71) to comeback and play Mamie, for even one day, I would be happy. They could have had Dina tearfully thank her, for being there for her children when she wasn't.

One of the biggest mistakes that I think Y&R ever made, was chickening out and not making John and Mamie a couple.

Yeah, R136, Mamie should (have) shown up at some point, although I myself was never a big fan of Fake Mamie (Veronica Redd).

One thing I really wanted to see was when they were doing "The Young Abbotts" with Hot John, Young Dina, and the three Abbott kids, I really wanted to see some young, black actress on the scene playing Young Mamie as well.

Besides a tense moment or two with Young Dina, they could have shown Young Mamie being sympathetic to Hot John's plight and other scenes of her trying to comfort the kids. I would also have showen her alone, back in the laundry room, lovingly caressing Hot John's white BVDs, cooing "Oh, Mr. Abbott."

And not like a cube farm but literally a desk at an angle here, another one there, and everyone would just come in, do about 3 seconds of work (i.e. pretend to pull up a tablet with their report on it), and then go about discussing their personal lives. It was dumb. At least at Jabot you have the CEO office and the lobby outside for mixing it up lol.

The Abbotts, nice scenes yesterday and always welcome to have Eileen Davidson back briefly, but not enough going on with them on the show. Billy Abbott, character needs to go on hiatus. Giving him chance after chance after an array of fucks over what it seems like 15 years is stupid and repetitive. Mariah and Tessa, nice to have a lez couple, but pretty boring too.

As stated upthread Adam should be destroying Victor and that doofus Nick. Instead it's written like a cartoon, and Dumb and Dumber keep outsmarting and out-attituding the guy with the Harvard MBA and actual fuck-over skills.

Nick and Phyllis make me want to puke. No matter what's happened ("I will never forgive you" - how many times have we heard that?) they're fucking on desks, against walls, and on the floor. If this were my business, I'd think the all-powerful and great Victor Newman had lost his marbles for putting that moron in charge, even temporarily. R159 I’ve been watching since 1987. Many days I hate watch it and ff through a lot of it. Love Eileen, Jess, Michelle and their characters . I’ve stood by the show over three decades through peaks and valleys. I feel if I stop watching it I’m missing out. Weird I know. Hopefully it’ll get back on track soon and at least be 75 percent watchable.

The whole show feels claustrophobic. Always with the same sets, all of them smaller. Victor’s living room shrunk, Adam’s penthouse shrunk... I think Sharon’s house is the same size and Abbott house is too... they even get the dining room from time to time. It feels small, even for daytime.

Why does Jack have no love interest in over a year? Why does Nick go through women like Kleenex and then this other guy who doesn't look like an ape dressed up in business apparel meanders through the cast like a shrink, doling out advice but with no real storyline of his own?

What I wouldn't give to put Michelle Stafford back with him (Phyllis becomes almost tolerable with Jack) and then Nick could reconnect with Sharon, where the timing would be believable right now with her illness. But I know the actors don't want that.

I loathed Chapman front and center but liked her and her character sort of back burner dominant or front and center adjacent. Gloria is a great character, but agree that a little of her goes a long way. Nick and Phyllis are just gross - her especially. How many times are they going to pair those two up? They are probably the least appealing couple on the show, next to Jabottom and Slummer.

I missed the Gloria-Jack fuckfest entirely, r200. I gave up shortly after LML was fired. MAB had nothing going for her but nepotism, and I quickly returned Y&R to my personal shitshow pile.
