Shut the fuck up!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 6, 2020 2:02 AM |

Tarantino and Scorsese must have split the gangsta vote.
So glad that HOAX THE IRISHMAN didn't win!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 6, 2020 2:04 AM |
Everybody's saluting Scorcese, because of his age probably. Bobby D looks pissed.

by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 6, 2020 2:07 AM |
Holy shit - I did not know about the Winkler/Hanks feud until now. Love you, DL! The cut to Winkler’s bitchface as Hanks was rambling was priceless, especially knowing their history!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 6, 2020 2:07 AM |
Walt is spinning in his grave over Disney's lack of imagination.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 6, 2020 2:08 AM |
Word of mouth is that 1917 is exceptional.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 6, 2020 2:08 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 70 | January 6, 2020 2:08 AM |
Guys I don't know about Mendes winning. I hope it stops here at the Globes. There are way better directorial feats this year.
Cate looks AMAZING!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | January 6, 2020 2:08 AM |
I asked before but can those of you complaining about white people winning these things list the people of color who should be winning? If there aren't any this year, there just aren't any. World goes on.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | January 6, 2020 2:08 AM |
1917 cutie George MacKay was on screen for a hot second. Ginger fans might remember him from CAPTAIN FANTASTIC.

WHAT is she wearing
by Anonymous | reply 74 | January 6, 2020 2:09 AM |
So Baumbach and Gerwig were snubbed for the director nod? Good.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | January 6, 2020 2:09 AM |
R56 No, no talking dragons or songs. They are sticking closer to the source content to appeal to the Chinese market.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | January 6, 2020 2:09 AM |
Tom Hanks might be all wonderfully humble and shit, but his cunt wife posted on Twitter several times, whining about how her hair and makeup person was late.
HOW DARE THEY!
by Anonymous | reply 77 | January 6, 2020 2:09 AM |
Liked it better when it was titled Dunkirk.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | January 6, 2020 2:09 AM |

Some of the ugliest dresses in creation are on display tonight.
What the hell happened?
by Anonymous | reply 85 | January 6, 2020 2:10 AM |
Loved 1917. Far superior to the rest, which are the same old, same old, especially The Irishman.
What's his name was unbearably overbearing, as always.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | January 6, 2020 2:10 AM |
What in the holy fuck is that dress on Miss Cate?
by Anonymous | reply 87 | January 6, 2020 2:10 AM |

I think Cate Blanchett just dissed Joker. Drama? Pfft.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
We've gotten to the point where super hero/comic book movies are taken seriously and nominated for awards. Yuck.
The backlash against this shit can't come soon enough.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
I can see her breast wrinkles
by Anonymous | reply 93 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 94 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
Will Mrs. Thomas Kail win?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 96 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
Oh my god another one with the tits out
by Anonymous | reply 97 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
If Cate Blanchett is against climate disaster, why does she party with Rupert Murdoch?!
by Anonymous | reply 98 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
"Loved 1917. Far superior to the rest, which are the same old, same old, especially The Irishman."
1917 was crap, directed by a hack. No one will remember Mendes 50 years from now.

Hasn't there always been a rumor that the Golden globes are bought more than won going back to when it was almost a sure thing that Pia Zadora's then billionaire husband bought her one for some piece of shit she was in in the 1980s?
by Anonymous | reply 103 | January 6, 2020 2:11 AM |
Poor Salma has to slum in this awful Tiffany Haddish movie. Someone needs to write her a great part of build an awesome TV show around her. She's an actual talent.

More lesbians!
by Anonymous | reply 161 | January 6, 2020 2:16 AM |
I would not have expected Michelle Wiliams to be the most outspoken, good for her. Did she pretty much say she had an abortion?
by Anonymous | reply 162 | January 6, 2020 2:16 AM |
Lesbians just can't do formal wear. Hm.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | January 6, 2020 2:17 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 164 | January 6, 2020 2:17 AM |
Michelle Williams owes her career to her baby daddy’s OD’ing.
She’s not all that.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | January 6, 2020 2:17 AM |
Jared Harris should have won his award. Russell Crowe ain't protecting SHIT in Australia besides his leftovers.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | January 6, 2020 2:17 AM |
Disappointed that Michelle Williams didn’t speak about the Fosse/Verdon experience at all save for a quick shout out. Some acknowledgement of her costars and the wonder that was Verdon would have been nice.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | January 6, 2020 2:17 AM |
Loved Michelle Williams!

by Anonymous | reply 179 | January 6, 2020 2:18 AM |
Did Michelle kill a James Van der Beek baby and that’s why he’s making up for it with so many?
by Anonymous | reply 180 | January 6, 2020 2:19 AM |
Michelle Williams has already won many awards for Fosse/Verdon and done the typical acceptance speech several times r167.
No doubt that was part of why she wanted to switch it up for this last outing for that role.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | January 6, 2020 2:19 AM |

I can't tell which gaffe will have the most blowback: Ellen outing Carol Bernett or Michelle saying that she wouldn't have a career if she didn't have (an) abortion(s)
by Anonymous | reply 184 | January 6, 2020 2:19 AM |
She’s not all that.
Even eons ago when Michelle was a kid doing a death scene at the end of Dawson's Creek, we knew she was all that.

Mulan looks way more visually inspired than the Disney remakes we've received over the past decade.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | January 6, 2020 2:20 AM |
I agree with Michelle's sentiment, but I can't stand her. She has rode on a lot of sympathy due to HL,, when their relationship was brief like all her other ones. Then she gets pregnant by someone's else's husband while still married herself, I guess that was her choosing.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | January 6, 2020 2:20 AM |
Fosse/Verdon was a BORE which I stopped watching a few minutes into Ep 2.

Back to the commercials: Flyoverstanis: do many of your countrywomen die their own hair? Do they do it in between salon visits as a touch up or is it a common thing?
by Anonymous | reply 196 | January 6, 2020 2:21 AM |
Besides Tiffany Haddish, the most Black we're getting tonight is the commercial with the lady whose "She Shed" is on fire.
by Anonymous | reply 197 | January 6, 2020 2:21 AM |
Obviously Michelle's speech triggered some deplorables
Besides Tiffany Haddish, the most Black we're getting tonight is the commercial with the lady whose "She Shed" is on fire.
She Shed On Fire should be a band name. And 'she shed' should be a euphemism for vadge.
Again, since people keep complaining about white people winning things, which black actors or directors or writers should be winning this year instead?
by Anonymous | reply 235 | January 6, 2020 2:25 AM |

Sorry, but Brad Pitt doesn't deserve that award.

by Anonymous | reply 255 | January 6, 2020 2:28 AM |
The best score of the year was in the Safdie Brothers' UNCUT GEMS.
It's a very creative, retro-'80s masterpiece. That it wasn't even nominated shows you what a bunch of out-of-it, old farts the HFPAA is.
by Anonymous | reply 256 | January 6, 2020 2:28 AM |
He's 55? Wow..those are some superior genes.

Because she — I can’t do this next joke,” he paused to laugh. “Because she loves nothing better than plunking herself down on the carpet, lifting her leg, and licking her own [expletive].” Well, we can use our imaginations on that one, can’t we?[/italic]

by Anonymous | reply 264 | January 6, 2020 2:30 AM |
Of course, the press will be all about Michelle ‘s abortion comments (with which I agree) and not her man-hating comments. You can support a woman’s right to choose without demonizing the other half of humanity.

by Anonymous | reply 352 | January 6, 2020 2:45 AM |
Everyone get that? Because of R344's ignorance, we're all pretending to like Hildur's score for Joker. There's no way others could have had a completely different experience than her... we're all actually being hipsters about it and pretending to love the score!

Best actor/actress drama
Best picture drama
Best picture comedy/musical

You should try actually watching the movie r345.
It's not pretentious, it's not even depressing.

The Two Popes is wonderful. Pryce and Hopkins deserve ALL of the awards. Though it is a bit too "rah rah organized religion/Catholicism" for my taste.

Why was Little Women so under represented at these awards? It's certainly on par or better than some of the other nominated films. Florence Pugh and Greta Gerwig both deserved nominations in their respective categories.
by Anonymous | reply 384 | January 6, 2020 2:50 AM |

Honey, directors don't need to be encouraged to do this. That's their natural state.

by Anonymous | reply 396 | January 6, 2020 2:53 AM |
When a man (Will Ferrell) compliments a man (Pierce Brosnan) on his appearance, it's funny because the audience knows that Will isn't gay but gayness in itself is funny. It's funny to people when men are attracted to other men because that isn't natural--men are attracted to women! The strangeness of it all is so funny!
Do you see now why garbage anti-gay jokes like that are annoying to actual gay men?
by Anonymous | reply 397 | January 6, 2020 2:53 AM |
Quentin is like the Token Award Guy. Just give him an award, even if he doesn't deserve it, that's "thing"

Also, this is justice for The Master. That's how I see it.

Quentin spends millions of his investors' money on filming close ups of women's bare feet and everyone just rolls their eyes and applauds. They can't give him money and awards fast enough.

Well Joaquin is batshit crazy but what he said about people flying around in private jets while wringing their hands about Australia and global warming was right on.
So what all was that that was bleeped?
by Anonymous | reply 460 | January 6, 2020 3:01 AM |

The "deranged comic book villain" is always a hit. Just ask Terrence Stamp, and Jack Nicholson, and Heath Ledger, and all the rest.
Hollywood will never stop making these movies. It'll be the same story over and over and over again and they will all make a billion dollars. Sad.

What a dreary lot for best motion picture drama. Ugh.
by Anonymous | reply 534 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
I thought Renee pulled it together in the end but the first part of her speech was a mess.
by Anonymous | reply 535 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
I don't know guys... is 1917 the movie we want to win Best Picture after such a great year?
by Anonymous | reply 536 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
I love Ricky No Fucks Given Gervais.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
Kate Winslet must be so pissed right now
by Anonymous | reply 538 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
That's just the way Renee is. I don't think she was high. Now Joaquin, yes.
by Anonymous | reply 539 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
LOL, r520!
by Anonymous | reply 540 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
LOL, r520!
by Anonymous | reply 541 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
Pierce Brosnan's long-haired son looks like Slender Man up there
by Anonymous | reply 542 | January 6, 2020 3:09 AM |
I suspect one big factor in 1917’s win is voting against Netflix, which had 3 of the 5 nominees.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | January 6, 2020 3:10 AM |
Zzzzz
by Anonymous | reply 544 | January 6, 2020 3:10 AM |
They did well. Only 10 minutes over. I can't think of any other major awards show that can wrap it up quicker.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | January 6, 2020 3:11 AM |
I wonder if all the Brits are happy they don't have to deal with Hollywood exclusively for work.
The Brits are likely even more competitive about roles. The BBC doesn’t pay well at all.
by Anonymous | reply 547 | January 6, 2020 3:11 AM |
Right on, Renee!!
by Anonymous | reply 548 | January 6, 2020 3:11 AM |
Wow. Ricky Gervais really went for it in the final 5 minutes. Telling audience to Fuck Off TWICE!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 549 | January 6, 2020 3:11 AM |
Finally I think Ricky was rude. Nobody really needs that at such a shindig.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | January 6, 2020 3:11 AM |
Pierce’s son was having a tsuris getting everyone to stand in the correct side of the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | January 6, 2020 3:12 AM |
Ricky Gervais is an arsehole.
by Anonymous | reply 552 | January 6, 2020 3:12 AM |
He totally just ignored Elton John's waiting arms.
Yeah, that was awkward. Elton seemed happy though.
by Anonymous | reply 553 | January 6, 2020 3:12 AM |
I agree, r536. I'm sure 1917 is a good film, but I'd really love a non-war film to win the best picture this year.
by Anonymous | reply 554 | January 6, 2020 3:12 AM |
Ehh, I like how everyone let it all out there tonight. People were pretty sloppy if you think about it, though some came to play like Michelle Williams. I had a good time. We'll regret 1917 if the Academy follows the Globes.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | January 6, 2020 3:12 AM |
Maybe Elton bought that for him and Taron is expected to pay it back. GG can be bought, you know.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | January 6, 2020 3:13 AM |
Renee squints because of the irreparable damage caused by years of taking Weinstein's copious loads in her eyes when blowing him.
by Anonymous | reply 557 | January 6, 2020 3:13 AM |
Important to remember it is a non-American group of voters r543. I can see a world war 1 movie like 1917 appealing to them more than Irishman or Once Upon of Time which are very American films.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | January 6, 2020 3:13 AM |
Never seen Gervais before, eh R550?
by Anonymous | reply 559 | January 6, 2020 3:13 AM |
George is cute, and great in the movie, but Dean-Charles Chapman is more my type of adorable twink.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | January 6, 2020 3:14 AM |
I felt like Ricky over did it. He's better if he keeps it good natured rather than calling them pedophile enablers and cokeheads.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | January 6, 2020 3:14 AM |
I'm just happy about Renee. Well-deserved. Charlize also did a good job with Megyn Kelly, but Renee made me misty.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | January 6, 2020 3:14 AM |
So The Irishman was snubbed?
by Anonymous | reply 563 | January 6, 2020 3:14 AM |
This Zoie's Playlist show seems to be a rehash of Eli Stone.
by Anonymous | reply 564 | January 6, 2020 3:14 AM |
I think many war movies are anti-war. I suspect 1917 is that.
by Anonymous | reply 565 | January 6, 2020 3:15 AM |
That was fun. Back to enjoying the total meltdown in the bisexual phenomena thread.
by Anonymous | reply 566 | January 6, 2020 3:15 AM |
Ricky changed his demeanor from the opening. First he was just all dry wit and "roasting" the audience, but by the second half and certainly at the end Ricky wasn't kidding in his "Who cares?" attitude. He wasn't smiling.
TPTB must have spoken to him.
by Anonymous | reply 567 | January 6, 2020 3:15 AM |
The Brits are likely even more competitive about roles. The BBC doesn’t pay well at all.
Even so the culture is not like it is in Hollywood. They don't have to deal with the same bullshit and ego. You can tell because for the most part the Brits have a bit of class and humility.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | January 6, 2020 3:15 AM |
joaquin phoenix beating leonardo dicaprio and making a speech about the environment AND THEN dragging leo about taking private jets......
by Anonymous | reply 569 | January 6, 2020 3:16 AM |
Happy for Renee. She seems to have her Katy, Texas twang back. The other nominees in her category looked pissed though.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | January 6, 2020 3:16 AM |
1917’s win is the best possible outcome for OUATIH, stubbing out any momentum for what was once considered the Best Picture frontrunner, The Irishman
by Anonymous | reply 571 | January 6, 2020 3:16 AM |
Next Sunday is the Critics Choice Awards
by Anonymous | reply 572 | January 6, 2020 3:17 AM |
Renee was wise to thank her agents. They brought her back from the dead in the industry.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | January 6, 2020 3:18 AM |
I think Joaquin was just anxious and may have had too many Xanax to counteract it. If he did not do a good job as an actor, people would quit hiring him.
Renee was commenting on the contribution Judy Garland made in her speech. She also said thing about doing the work that I suspect the Hollywood foreign press liked. She seemed a bit anxious as well. I doubt she was drunk, she's very self-disciplined.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | January 6, 2020 3:19 AM |
What exactly happened to Renee? She seemed to disappear over night after being the darling of the early aughts.
by Anonymous | reply 575 | January 6, 2020 3:19 AM |
joaquin phoenix beating leonardo dicaprio
They weren't competing. Taron beat Leo.
by Anonymous | reply 576 | January 6, 2020 3:20 AM |
Bombshell was so much less than it could have been, but Charlize only enhances her superstar status with or without a globe.. She carried the whole thing.
by Anonymous | reply 577 | January 6, 2020 3:20 AM |
Doesn't OUATIH have a leg up because it's a love letter to Hollywood? Those moviesalways win: THE ARTIST, LA LA LAND, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 578 | January 6, 2020 3:21 AM |
If you get to see her speech again look at her eyes r574. You can see she's high, at least that what I saw.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | January 6, 2020 3:21 AM |
If Ricky doesn't host this show, what else is he going to do? Will he quit showbiz? Because American audiences rejected his most recent show, movie, and stand up. Maybe he can host a "naughty" podcast.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | January 6, 2020 3:22 AM |
Designing Women is on on KTLA.
G' night bitches.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | January 6, 2020 3:23 AM |
He's executive producer of both versions of The Office so he probably has his fuck you money.
by Anonymous | reply 583 | January 6, 2020 3:24 AM |
One of the best award shows in years. Everybody wasted and damaged. The host telling everyone to go fuck themselves. "The Trolley Song" last song of the night.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | January 6, 2020 3:24 AM |
R575 she had many flops after her Oscar win and Chicago.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | January 6, 2020 3:25 AM |
Any insiders that can speak to how he is viewed in the industry? I enjoyed his performance and was happy he won, but was surprised by the standing ovation. Even Al "permanent bitch face" Pacino stood. Well liked, feared, moneymaker? What's the scoop?
by Anonymous | reply 586 | January 6, 2020 3:26 AM |

I’m sorry, but Margot was amazing in Bombshell
by Anonymous | reply 588 | January 6, 2020 3:26 AM |

Now Faye, for the last time it was "Moonlight" that won, not "La La Land"
by Anonymous | reply 589 | January 6, 2020 3:27 AM |
Renee's filmography post her Oscar win for BSA in Cold Mountain was kind of thin. I wonder if she sort of got Hathaway'd, where actually winning the Oscar kind of killed her career rather than fueling it?
by Anonymous | reply 590 | January 6, 2020 3:29 AM |
Ha ha, Disney is getting revenge on Scorsese for trashing their shitting Marvel movies. They've used their considerable muscle to ice him out of awards for The Irishman. Ouch!
by Anonymous | reply 591 | January 6, 2020 3:30 AM |
Thanks, Cletus.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | January 6, 2020 3:34 AM |
Doesn’t the success of those superhero movies sort of give him the opportunity and, and more importantly, the budgets to make his “artistic, high falutin’, respectable” films??
He should be thanking them.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | January 6, 2020 3:37 AM |
R593 No, his name and reputation affords him those things
by Anonymous | reply 594 | January 6, 2020 3:43 AM |
IIRC, the Golden Globes used to be the show full of fun drunks, not sad drunks.
Tonight was a pathetic parade of wasted depressives and crazies.
Next Sunday is the Critics Choice Awards
With your hosts, Bob Hope and Lucille Ball.
by Anonymous | reply 596 | January 6, 2020 3:58 AM |
R595, you’re fucking nuts.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | January 6, 2020 3:59 AM |
So... does having a hit show on a traditional TV network matter at all these days?
by Anonymous | reply 598 | January 6, 2020 4:03 AM |
Nope, R598. That’s why the ratings for these things continue to go down the shitter.
I have not seen the Emmy telecast in years. Don’t know most of the shows nominated and the actors are complete strangers to me. I already pay for cable, I am not paying for 10 different streaming services.
I had no idea who most of these actors that are on unknown show and streaming services are.
by Anonymous | reply 599 | January 6, 2020 4:11 AM |
I mean, if they held a proper BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS now, no one would show up!
I call that a disgrace.
by Anonymous | reply 600 | January 6, 2020 4:21 AM |
Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
