R146: well that would be the song to come out to. There used to be a video of this song on YouTube that cut clips of Andrea performing the song with scenes from her porn movies and some of the ads. And ot would cut in pics of the porn theaters on 42nd street in the 70s and gritty NY movies like Looking for Mr. Goobar and Taxi Driver. Good times.

I was so into King Crimson in the 70's. They still are around. Robert Fripp, the one constant in the band, is incredibly talented. I chose the album "Islands" as a personal favorite, mostly because it has so many stylistic variations on it. This is the title track.

I tried to link the pics to the albums but I'm doing something wrong. "Goat's Head Soup," "Diamond Dogs," "Another Passenger." The first by The Rolling Stones 1973, the second by David Bowie 1974, the third by Carly Simon 1976,

R146 There's a great podcast that tells the story of how "More, More, More" was made and includes interviews with the people who helped record the song. It even features a rough cut of the original track before it was remastered and became a monster hit. Really interesting if you're a fan of Andrea True and/or the song:

Prompted to remember Roxy Music, I remembered chills and thrills upon seeing them live. "A Song for Europe" always got to me, the majesty of it all. I have not heard it in 20 years and I still find the chills, thrills and majesty. And oh damn, Andy McKay's sax solo is resplendent as he closes out the song.

Agreed, and if you have not seen "The Sound of My Voice" on the big screen in a theater and you happen to be a Linda fan, try to get to a screening. If The Avon theater in Decatur IL can have daily screenings of it for two weeks, lots of y'all might still have a chance to see it in an actual movie palace.

And for me, a tie for best song from "Hasten Down the Wind", is "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me" "Try me Again" is probably an A+ but "Hasten Down the Wind " is a solid A in this teacher's grade book. I chose a live version. Perhaps not as pristine as album version( too much guitar solo trying to show off) but I sure like it.

Dear r311, r312, r313, and r314, thank you so much for your compliments and your references to my favorite album of all time, Linda Ronstadt's Hasten down the Wind. Just for fun, I'll start us off at the beginning, with Karla Bonoff's "Lose Again."
As I mentioned, my boyfriend, or whatever he was, played "Long, Long Time" at me as he was breaking up with me in the fall of 1976. I didn't know which album it was on, and I just asked for "Linda Ronstadt's album" the next time I went to the record store. Hasten down the Wind was her latest at that moment, and that's the one the clerk sent me home with.
Little did I realize what a treasury of heartbreak songs I would find on it, Prisoner in Disguise, Don't Cry Now, and Heart like a Wheel. Oh, and eventually Different Drum, the album with "Long, Long Time" on it. I moped for months before I got over him, with this glorious soundtrack to a broken heart.

Another vote for RUMOURS.
Perhaps it's SECOND HAND NEWS, but that was the first album I ever had. My older cousin gave it to me when I was a kid. She'd sing the Christine McVie parts to me when she would sit for me and my sister. RUMOURS was also the first CD I purchased. There's a song for every mood on RUMOURS.

When I was in college, we had a showing of a collection of animated shorts, including moonshadow. It ran about 90 minutes in total. This was in 1980. There were two showings that night. In the early showing, the audience spontaneously sang along. In the late showing, the entire audience of 100 or so college kids just sat dead still. Not a sound from the audience.
And that...was the grandest day...of my youth.
