About a comment in the last thread, just because Brandon liked stuff on Instagram doesn't mean he wasn't at the NYC premiere, obviously he didn't walk the red carpet but if Richard sat through the screening I'd bet B did too. And the after party is a work related thing irregardless.

I'm old enough to remember people insisting B wouldn't be anywhere near the NYC premiere. Let's see how this plays out.

It's not the public that bothers them. It's the paps making money off of their relationship. Everything we've seen clearly shows they don't care about being seen as a couple. They've been living life openly as a couple. Spending time out at public places. Going on holiday. Spending time with family. This event was HUGE. I never once doubted that B would be there. Imagine this scenario. One student recognises B and asks the person next to him why B is there with R's family. Either that person knows or he asks the next one. Until someone says: "Oh, didn't you know it's R's boyfriend." And those news would go like wildfire among the students who then will tell everyone.

One of the reasons I thought there was a good chance B wouldn’t be there was having seen a previous famous person honoured at one of these things and his fiancee was a big part of the story, she was photographed loads that day. I LOVE that Brandon was able to go along, sit right there in the front with Richard’s family, have the day with him, and not have it be made a huge thing.

R571 I am too, but then, as I said before on either this thread or the last, I had already seen a girl graduating today say on twitter that she wouldn’t be saying anything about who Richard was with and not to ask her. And sure enough, she met him today and all she said was he was lovely and that was all anyone needed to know. Not a word about Brandon (even though she absolutely knows about him.) It’s possible other students too are being similarly discreet.

Perhaps the students aren't constant users of social media (those kind of people still exists). Also, it was an important day for them to pay attention to other things. Or maybe nobody there saw 13 Reasons Why.

R569 Good point. I'm sure B's appearance today led more people to discover (or at the very least, suspect) that Brandon and Richard are an item. Others will still be in the dark. And that's OK. To me what's significant (and what really counts) is that Brandon was there with Richard's family to support his boyfriend.

It's frustrating to me that here on Data Lounge, so many people were saying, "There's no way B will attend that ceremony. It's too public and they're not ready to go public." Then when Brandon walks in with Richard's parents and sisters, and sits there exchanging smiles with his boyfriend, and takes photos and video of his bf, and then hugs his bf's mom as they walk out together ... and yet we still have people acting like none of it counts because not enough people know they're dating.

I agree with R572 and considering that Richard also had Andrew Hawley there and allegedly his good friend Finn de Hertog, I am glad the media didn’t make a big deal about Brandon because people could still write off the relationship as just friends considering Richard had two other friends there.

I am just happy that he had his people around him and he’s happy. Anyone that is a fan of Richard (and /or) Brandon should only want that for their faves.

I'm still happy about that hug with Richard's mum! The way she runs to him and Brandon smiling and hugging her back. Brandon is so sweet, I'm happy that Richard's parents seem to love him! Now I want to see Richard in Miami with Brandon's parents!
