Chris Mathews is fogging the camera lens with his dis peptic spittle! No indictments!....while this is frustrating , we know no more now than we did anytime in the last 2 years about what is in the Mueller Report...I for one will save my spittle for the actual reveal as to how filthy this president is.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 22, 2019 11:31 PM |
Just go here for the official thread on the report
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 22, 2019 11:35 PM |
Nearly 54,000 posts of repetitive wishful thinking, leading to this.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 22, 2019 11:35 PM |
I held on the hope that America only elected this president due to collusion. I found it hard to believe a country could be so stupid to vote for this idiot. In the end I guess I need to realize what country I am living in. Half the country wanted this man to be their president.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 22, 2019 11:35 PM |
No, that's not the official thread, but nice try, R7.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 22, 2019 11:36 PM |
Led to what, R8? Your failure of a post?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 22, 2019 11:37 PM |
This is the only official thread on this matter. Period.
The trolls will be here to gloat but fuck them. As was pointed out, we know nothing about what is in the report yet.
Lets see how Pres Bone Spurs responds when he learns what is in it.

Let that other thread exist, it seems to be pulling in all the trolls. These threads have always managed to only have a troll or two.

Adam Schiff says more Trump-Russia indictments are likely coming now that Robert Mueller’s report has been filed
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 22, 2019 11:54 PM |
Someone help me out... is it possible that the "sources," are just lying and the goal is to just make everyone believe there was nothing in the report so that they can bury it and move on? Is that maybe the reason the Democrats want the full report released?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 22, 2019 11:56 PM |
so who told Chris Cuomo? He fucking knew!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 22, 2019 11:58 PM |
What if Barr shut down the Mueller probe by giving him an ultimatum to deliver his report? Just a speculation, of course, but how would we know?
Has anyone answered this? The timing seems convenient considering when Barr was confirmed. If he ordered Mueller to end it and submit the report, Mueller would have to submit it, whether it was 100% done or not. That report that they couldn't do something some judge ordered this week because they were really, really busy seems to indicate they may have been rushing to get things finished by a deadline.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 22, 2019 11:59 PM |
I can't quite believe it, but I'm actually light-headed, dizzy and a little sick over this. Sometimes I wish I was one of the sheeple who don't know anything and don't care. Well, thoughts and prayers, I guess. I'm still hoping for the best possible outcome.

Last night, Joy indicated that Rachel was off tonight as she said "Rachel will be back soon." I have a feeling that Rachel changed her mind and decided to come in and do her show based on the breaking news. They've been teasing Rachel with a small bug in the lower right hand corner for the past two hours. I don't think they would be doing this if Joy was hosting the TRMS.

Thanks for the info R23.

Chris Matthews makes me a bit crazy but I'm with him tonight in his outrage. Natasha Bertrand makes some good points about what all we already know and how many important questions there are left unanswered. To me it feels like Barr pushed Mueller to hurry up and finish.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 23, 2019 12:13 AM |
Impeach the bastard. Granted the Senate will not convict him, at least he will forever bear the black mark of impeachment. He is going to torment us for the next two years so we may as well give him reason to do so.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 23, 2019 12:14 AM |
Rachel will be on her show tonight to talk about the Mueller Report.
Come on, 2 years, you think she'd miss this?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 23, 2019 12:17 AM |
The House will subpoena Mueller and ask him if Barr forced him to finish sooner than he would have otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 23, 2019 12:17 AM |
R28 did you see that reported somewhere or is that a guess?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 23, 2019 12:19 AM |
It’s over girls. Focus on the election.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 23, 2019 12:23 AM |
Mueller, Rosenstein and Barr are going to make us deal with these treasonous fucks and get rid of them ourselves.
They've evidently decided that since they're adults, we have to be adults too and be responsible citizens in a participatory democracy. I fucking hate when that happens.
But okay, the congressional hearings will now take up the work of investigation and revelation of this scandal to the public.
I don't care, it's fine, we'll take these motherfucking grifters down.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 23, 2019 12:23 AM |
R30 House investigations are just beginning. Anything that damages Trump *is* a good thing for the election.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 23, 2019 12:28 AM |
The only reason I'm doubting that Barr forced it to close is because he's good friends with Mueller. Not work acquaintances like Comey, the Mueller and Barr families have been good friends for decades.
The Republicans seem jubilant but I have a feeling Mueller isn't done with the trumps yet. There are the off-shoot cases elsewhere, we know that. I mean there are things that will come out in the Mueller Report itself that will kick trump and his family in the face.

What does that have to do with anything? No one is saying he got out a whip and beat him until he relented and handed in the report. More like, "Hey Bob, I'm gonna need that report by the end of the month." "Yes sir." That would have been the extent of it.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 23, 2019 1:01 AM |
We haven't seen a single word of Mueller's report, not one. He may eviscerate trump and the low IQ kids in it, we just don't know yet. He won't indict them, we know that and it's disappointing as hell. Oh well, lots and lots to do before November 2020.
We managed to get Mueller to the finish line. If they destroyed enough evidence and lied enough to avoid being one of Mueller's 35 indictments, so be it. We have other remedies in congress, we have the relentlessness of public opinion and we have the election.
Sooner or later, in some jurisdiction or other, we will get these fuckers. They aren't Professor fucking Moriarty and Co., they're more like OJ. If nothing else, they'll only have the deplorables left to them by the time we get finished with this. OJ hangs out with the dregs, among whom he is a big man. Everyone else on earth knows he's a vicious, lying murderer. Even the dregs know but they don't care.
Trumps and Kushners have never been society, they're strictly new money and no manners. They aren't even interesting dinner companions. Socially, they'll sink even lower now than they were before. While that's satisfying, and they'll hate it more than most other things, I still want them indicted and tried in New York and they will be.
Every secret thing, every scam, every crime they committed and every lie they told will come out and be known before this is done.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 23, 2019 1:17 AM |
Just because Mueller didn't indict the whole Trump Crime Syndicate doesn't mean someone else can't.

No, R41, that's not how decades-old friends and colleagues talk to each other. Especially not with Mueller being the stronger, higher status and more respected of the two.

What have they done to her eyes??!!
Did Rachel take a double-dose of her anti-anxiety meds after being snatched from vacation and going on air? Something is a bit off physically, but she's not missing a beat regarding her analysis of the Report. Go girl! Best of the best!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 23, 2019 1:26 AM |
R46, Barr outranks him in this case. He's his boss. That's exactly how it would happen. There may have been a little pushback if they were truly not even close to done but, in the end, if he as told to end it by the AG, he ends it.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 23, 2019 1:29 AM |
Since Rachel's in TN, you can see she got stuck with the make-up person from the TN station she's sitting in - shiny lip gloss, raccoon eyes and spackle.

We'll know what's in the report when we see how Trump responds on Twitter. If he starts crowing, it's good for him...or at least he thinks it's good for him. If he goes on attack against all comers, it's bad. If he's silent, I don't know what the fuck to think.

If Mueller had any indication that Trump was compromised by a foreign power in any way, shape, form, or fashion, then he would have rained hellfire down on him 18 months ago, and Trump would be jailed as a Manchurian.
This is not shocking to anyone who has actually looked at the counter narratives, or listened to people like Caitlin Johnstone or Glenn Greenwald or Steven F Cohen or Michael Tracey- hardcore liberals who see the danger of going all in on a potential “nothing burger”.

I will gladly read the report. The lawsuit has already been filed for the entire report to be released, instead of an executive summary.
HI do not believe that it will contain any evidence that Trump colluded with Russia, or knew of any attempts at interference on his behalf, because I’ve actually stepped outside the echo chamber.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
What nonsense are you posting, R76?
Mueller has over charged over 35 enitites with, i believe the total is 190 crimes.

If there is one thing that can be said positively about the odious Tucker Carlson, is that he has people on his show that are allowed to present counter narratives that are unpopular.
Generally, if they are polite then he is polite in return. He can even take a good reading and spar with a bit of humor... if his guest has one.
I’m afraid that Rachel is going to have a nervous breakdown if someone who disagrees with her comes on her show.
I actually read websites that aren’t inside the echo chamber, and this is not surprising to any of us. If you aren’t aware of the progressive journalists that have been exposing the ridiculous Russia narrative then you need to get outside the basement.

Hard proof would be easy to get the cabinet, and invocation of the 25th would have been unanimous.
The fact that no hard proof existed, and two years of investigation have concluded that there is no hard proof of collusion, is telling.

R94 We're not wrong. There is enough evidence in the public domain to illustrate that Trump Campaign colluded with Russia to impact the election. Mueller can say what he wants in the report. We've already seen the evidence and its damning.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | March 23, 2019 2:42 AM |
Well, he's already an unindicted Co-Conspirator in the Cohen illegal campaign contribution case in NY. Presumably there's a sealed indictment filed and waiting for him. He won't skate on statute of limitations.
There are so many cases against him in so many jurisdictions, the Congressional investigations are getting rolling, his long presidential* nightmare is just beginning. Running for POTUS as an infomercial will end up being the biggest mistake he ever made in a life filled with dumb, careless, cruel and selfish fuck ups.

They must have had her in a broom closet with a blue screen.

This focus on Mueller's investigation into Russian collusion is a bit of a straw man. Even if collusion remains unproved, the investigation has has uncovered enough info for numerous other investigations into Trump's misdeeds to work with. The journalist linked to at R84 factitiously opposes the collusion investigation to Sanders-type legislation (as if the Democrats could have done more before the 2018 election, and as if they weren't doing more since it), and Glen Greenwald, too, has this narrow focus, as if "collusion" circumscribed the whole of Trump's illegal deeds. Whatever happened behind the scenes, the fact remains that he supports Putin and other dictators in ways detrimental to American power abroad, in addition to all his other stuff (e.g., just out today, his lying to Deutsche Bank, Jared's unsecured phone, etc.).

Also, note that Trump was still unhinged about Mueller as recent as this morning. YESTERDAY, Barr and Rosenstein were both at the White House. I would have to believe that they were giving Trump a heads up that the report was coming out today. Both of them would know basically what the report was going to say. If he is still unhinged, then there is some damning information contained in the report because they have told him so.

I don't care what the report says.
1. Don Jr and Jared met with Russians in Trump Tower to negotiate getting dirt on Hillary Clinton.
2. Trump's campaign chairman is a crook, a hired gun for Russian oligarchs, and now a convicted criminal.
3. Trump's lawyer is a crook and a convicted criminal. Trump was all too happy to have him work for him and pay hush money to porn stars while the going was good. Trump was made an unindicted co-conspirator in premeditated campaign finance violations.
4. Trump's NatSec advisor was a foreigh agent of Turkey, conspired with the Russian ambassador and was found guilty of lying to the FBI despite being a former military and knowing full well you don't lie to the FBI.
5. Jared was refused a security clearance and had to amend his disclosures about a hundred times because he hid meeting foreigners and having all kinds of conflict of interest. And he is selling the US the various foreigners starting with Israel and the Saudis.
And so on and on...

What worries me is that Trump abruptly changed his mind a few days ago about releasing the report to the public. It makes me think he got an advanced copy and it said what he wanted it to say.

Another difference between Clinton and Trump is that Clinton special counsel Kenneth Starr was a bull dog. Started investigating Hillary's land deals and kept digging for several years until he found a black dress with a cum stain in the Oval Office. He was front and center and giving press conferences every other day. We get Mueller who is a by-the-book prosecutor. Wouldn't indict a sitting president because of DOJ rules. Republicans never play by the rules but Democrats do and then are screwed in the end.

This is where I am sure the report is full of damaging information but because he can't be indicted as President. Bob Barr will try to keep all that secret since it's not relevant. It's maddening. All y’all CALM the fuck DOWN.
We can’t get through something this hard if you’re going to off yourself every time we get back news. I don’t believe this thing is over by a long shot!!! More will be revealed. If Mueller didn’t opt to indict because of the policy, it doesn’t mean he just gave up on the case! I believe he farmed this out to other cases because the investigations are so huge and drawn out that he didn’t have a choice but to do that. Maybe I’m wrong, but I doubt it. The government understands that half the population knows a huge amount of evidence already, and though we want to bash our government constantly, it is *not* in the business of cover-ups and/or gaslighting — that is the sole focus of the current administration, but *not* the vast majority of people and fed departments. Too much evidence has already leaked, Trump is screwed. No, I can’t predict exactly how this will all unfold, I don’t know the when and/or where, but there are scores of other investigations. It is not over.
I know this is so hard, and it sucks, AND Trump will never feel an ounce of remorse, nor could any punishment be enough. But let’s also support each other in staying strong — we do *not* know what the fuck that report says yet. So let’s wait and see what it says. And ultimately, we come full circle yet again — do *not* rely on this oversight process to stop him — we must cap him at the next election, period end.

Can someone explain how Trump Team meeting with Russians is not collusion?
by Anonymous | reply 125 | March 23, 2019 3:19 AM |
On the same day as Special Counsel Robert Mueller handed over his report to Attorney General William Barr, HBO’s Bill Maher asked out loud if Democrats put too much trust in the Mueller report.
“We don’t know much,” he said of the report. “I’m just going to go by what we do know, and I must say, I don’t think it looks good. No further indictments, which means, not Don, Jr., even after ‘I love it’ memo. Really?”
He then added Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone will also not be indicted for working with the Russians.
“Did the Democrats put too much trust in the Mueller report?” he then asked. “I don’t need the Mueller report to know he’s a traitor. I have a TV.”
by Anonymous | reply 126 | March 23, 2019 3:19 AM |
Bob Barr can't keep it secret. We are now in the Sieve Zone, it will all leak through a hole at Justice, a hole at any one of several House and Senate committees, a hundred holes at the White House.
Barr can do whatever he likes, we're going to have that report.

Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations with then Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about his work on the Trump Tower Moscow project during the 2016 campaign.
George Papadopoulos repeatedly lied about his contacts with Russian agents and pleaded guilty to that crime.
And that’s only so far.

What do you assholes think — that when this was over Mueller was going to storm the steps of the White House and drag trump out in his pajamas? For ducks sake already. This was an INVESTIGATION. Let the report drop and then we’ll see what happens with various federal and state indictments.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | March 23, 2019 3:38 AM |
I think, or maybe it's hope, R124 is right. Mueller knows getting cooperation from the GOP to do anything to this administration futile. He's going to let states, New York in particular, take the lead. This way no one can be pardoned.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | March 23, 2019 3:45 AM |
I wonder if maybe there aren't more indictments because the FBI counterintelligence investigation is still ongoing. My concern with that then is what happens if that investigation keeps going past 2020? Then we'll still have all these unanswered questiosn heading into the election next year and Trump, the repubs and Fox "News" will be allowed to maintain the "there's nothing to see here it's all a witch hunt" narrative. So while the unindicted folks in Trump's camp still aren't out of the fire, they may have this lifeline for another term.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | March 23, 2019 3:46 AM |
"I wonder if maybe there aren't more indictments because the FBI counterintelligence investigation is still ongoing."
I didn't even know about about this. Is it possible today's report was designed to be a distraction while the real stuff will be in the report for this other investigation?
by Anonymous | reply 135 | March 23, 2019 3:49 AM |
We’re going to need more lampposts.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | March 23, 2019 3:50 AM |
R135 it's not a distraction but Mueller had a very narrow scope. I think if any of his findings overlapped with other investigations, he wouldn't charge someone and would hand it off to the overlapping investigation.
The counterintelligence investigation is probably still ongoing because Trump and some of his people are still communicating with the Russians. So if it's not over, they won't be charged which means we won't get those answers before the 2020 election. This allows Trump, repubs and Fox "News" to continue the witch hunt narrative.
You just know that they're going to say "well Mueller is done so anything else that happens is pure partisan politics on the part of the Democrats." Since no one new is getting indicted with this report, nothing is going to change anyone's mind. That's what's so frustrating.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | March 23, 2019 3:55 AM |
I've said before people shouldn't rely too much on Mueller and the report to get rid of Cheeto. This should be a call to mobilize the Dems to vote their asses off in 2020, and get as much Independents on our side. Let's rid the government of that stench.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | March 23, 2019 4:17 AM |
Mueller was important when the Dems didn't control any part of the government. He kept the heat on Trump and his cronies, and he did destroy a whole bunch of the cronies. Now with the Dem controlling the House, they can torch Trump directly. Trump is just getting out of the frying pan straight into the fire.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | March 23, 2019 4:22 AM |
It's not any lack of substance that may be a problem with the report, especially after Barr gets through editing it. It's not the lack of indictments because we already know about the state charges that will be coming down. It's the spin we know is coming and the fact that the media is going to be slurping it up like thirst-ridden dogs.

Now the Dems need to concentrate their efforts on gaining a critical majority in the Senate, because in large part it's going to be up to Congress to actually *do* something about what's been uncovered. I concur with R132 that it was never possible for Mueller to drag Trump out of the White House, and much the same goes for Trump's nepotistic appendages. The Mueller investigation had to stop short of taking any positive action against Don Jr, Ivanka, and son-in-law Jared. Can any of you just [italic]imagine[/italic] what the Cheeto would have done, had any part of the investigation touched his family members? If anyone has worries that he might try to become 'President-for-life,' indicting his kids might well have precipitated the crisis that led to it, since he would probably have declared emergency martial law, and begun rounding up and imprisoning members of the Justice Dept, the FBI, Congress, and the media - anyone who doesn't support the Trumptocracy. Of course they need to be investigated, questioned, and criminally indicted, but doing so will have to be done very carefully, in stages, like disarming a bomb - preferably when his term is nearly up, and his power is waning.
Something like that crisis may yet come when and if he's voted out in 2020, but we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

CNN is reporting tonight that the White House is “celebrating quietly” and touting a big win after Robert Mueller officially submitted his report to Attorney General Bill Barr.
ABC News reported earlier that the initial reaction from President Donald Trump is that he’s “glad it’s over.”
Tonight CNN senior White House correspondent Pamela Brown told Anderson Cooper White House officials are “viewing this as a win” because there are no more indictments and that there have been no direct accusations of collusion, not to mention how the investigation ended without Mueller directly interviewing the president.
Jim Acosta, meanwhile, reported that the White House is “celebrating quietly” and with “a fair amount of glee.”
He said one Trump campaign advisor told him “this was a great day for America, and we won.”

r148. I agree that the N.Y. FBI is an extension of Ghouliani.
There's still hope for justice with SDNY. If Dems are caving, or if our lawmakers are covering anything up, then there will still be anarchy and chaos since people will begin to think if Dump can get off that easy, so should I.

Trump not being interviewed by Mueller is not a by the books move. That's preferential treatment which IMHO a common crook like Trump doesn't deserve. But since he's Republican and backed by the GOP ...

I was afraid after all the "Don't expect too much from Mueller" quotes on Thursday. If the SDNY doesn't go after tRumpturd, all is lost. America, as we previously knew it will have ceased to be if we have another sham election with the crime family "winning by a landslide", as one headline prediction declared on Friday.

I am so fucking disgusted that Mueller has closed up shop without bringing indictments for crimes we KNOW have been committed by this family I feel physically sick. I don't give a fuck if further action will be taken by others (which we don't even know will happen), but the optics of this are terrible and Mueller owed the American people a better outcome. As things stand, there's no reason for anyone involved with all the shit that's gone down to think there's any reason not to act exactly the same in the future.
And what about all the loose ends? Why the hell was Flynn cut the deal of the century? What did he tell Mueller that was so damned important considering no one seems to have been charged based on his evidence? And that's just for starters. Even Seth Abramson tweeted he was "at a loss" regarding all the loose ends. For the DoJ to be briefing that there are to be no further indictments recommended by Mueller's report is a victory for Trump and everyone associated with him and his criminality. The whole situation is beyond sickening. This outcome undermines the very fabric of American society.

Bitch Please, Why is Tucker's publicist allowed to post here? If you have ever watched that show, its obvious he sets up every liberal guest with some stray comment taken out of context years ago then harps on it no matter how irrelevant. He talks OVER them to win the argument, there is no honest counter narrative. He's a hack, he never actually discusses real issues in real time. He has no actual talent, it all a fake setup by his staff. You watch the show once, you get his shtick right a way. That's why he was fired several time from TV. Even Morning Joe had to fire his ass years ago.

Mueller never even talked to Don Jr. Mueller did not even talk to Jared as far as I know and they were both at the June 16th meeting. Mueller did not care to talk to these sleaze bags. We have been fucked in every hole available.
Trump was named as a co-conspiriter and Mueller completely ignored that. Trump works for Putin. Mueller is a lowlife ego driven creep who cares more about his reputation, then he cares about our country.

Counterintelligence is the key.
Half of Mueller’s job (and likely half the report) is the results of what our we and our allies uncovered about the Trump Family via spycraft. As a practical matter it’s not publicly disclosable (Russia would love to know it’s adversaries’ methods) but it can point to avenues of attack. And, it certainly reveal Trump’s compromise and corruption. So, the report reveals through classified sources that the head of our government is bent on destroying it.
That’s what kept Barr up late last night.

I don't see how Mueller can be done investigating Russian collusion without ever dragging Donald Jr, Jared or Brad Parscale in front of a grand jury, let alone ever even interviewing any of them. I had felt the reason Mueller hadn't done so was because they were targets of the investigation, but clearly they weren't.

Anyway, as I said in the previous thread, I knew ( and I'm sure millions of others, here at the DL and elsewhere did too) that as soon as Mueller was handing off info to the SDNY and that the state of New York had access to it, that my expectations of the Mueller report should be moderated and tempered.

Remember the elections last November? Early returns made it seem like the Dems had underperformed but gradually with all the late counts and recounts, it was obvious that it was a big defeat for Trump. I m hoping it's something similar here, where he calls Junior all kinds of stupid, stuff like that, things that stop just short of an indictment. According to a former fed prosecutor on MSNBC last night, feds won't go to trial unless there's a 95% chance of conviction. Being so terminally stupid that you don't realise you're a tool of the Russians apparently is not against the law.

Della, I agree with you about the tempered expectations and why. It's too bad that the Mueller Report has been so hyped up in so many places that nothing less than a mass arrest of the entire family would suffice as a conclusion. My first reaction at the "no further indictments" was that we could get something along the lines of the report on Hillary's email server with "you're bad, but there's not enough evidence to indict" language, even though the issues here are infinitely greater in scope.
My fear about 2020 is that the critical independent voters who turned away from Trump in 2018 - in no small part due to the cloud cast by this investigation - will now accept the "witch hunt" claims and simply tune out any further investigative findings by SNDY, the NY AG, and the House, and thus turn on the Democrats.
We'd better have a damn good candidate for 2020 who has broad appeal. If we don't get those independent voters, we'll definitely have Trump for 4 more years. Our base isn't enough by itself.

Imagine you are Barr.
You have just received a report, largely based on corroborated, clandestine information from our intelligence sources and those of our allies, indicating that our president is either beholden or in bed with our adversaries.
Mueller knew he couldn’t release the methods and sources in the report without setting back the IT community by decades, so he attempted to prove it in court using public sources/witnesses Unfortunately some of the critical sources (Manafort, Stone) were too frightened to tell the truth.
The President asks for a copy of the Report
You know he won’t read it; but you also know (from the report) he will likely leak it to Putin, Kim, MBS (through Jared), Giuliani and, probably, Netanyahu.
If you reveal all that’s in it, you’ll do what Mueller tried to avoid. If you don’t give it to the President, he’ll fire you.
What would you do?

Donald Trump knew about the meeting with the Russian emissaries in June '16. He's a control freak and he would know what was going on, especially in his own building. Don Jr. called a blocked number right after the meeting, and Trump is known to use a blocked number. He knew about the meeting with a hostile foreign power- possible even arranged it- and then, like Junior, he lied about it.
Nothing will ever change this.
by Anonymous | reply 269 | March 23, 2019 4:11 PM |
R269, I believe it’s already been proven that the blocked number was someone else and not Trump.

So. Even if that call wasn't to Daddy, do you think a meeting in his building between his son/son-in-law/campaign manager/etc. and emissaries from Russia... would somehow escape his notice? Besides, there had to be a paper trail: sign-ins in the lobby; garage receipts; donuts 'n coffee.
He knew. And he lied that he didn't know.

I posted this in another thread and wanted to share it again.
The bottom line is that repukes will defend this fake prez to the bitter end. It doesn't matter to them if he is an odious fool. He is giving them what they want.
1. Smaller government. By leaving slots unfilled, filling others with incompetents and spies, and letting go experienced scientists and the like, he is destroying government from within. Yeah, short term red meat for the base, but long term negative consequences for the majority of us. Less research, less competitive innovation, and we fall farther behind in expertise and excellence.
2. Lower taxes and big cuts for the wealthy, rich political allies and cronies. Good news for them, bad news for the deficit and the rest of us who will suffer from lack of infrastructure and services.
3. Elimination or rights for women, LGBT, and communities of color deemed inferior by the racist, sexist, white supremacist in the White House and his cruel cronies.
4. Threaten and bully our allies while elevating dictators and other criminals like Netanyahu. Cater to ignorant deplorables and demonize liberals. The deplorables love to bully a scapegoat and they will hate whoever trump & allies tell them to hate. They will happily take to the streets with their guns when directed.
5. Their guns are safe with him. Their hypocritical pro-life stance is safe with him. Their hate and rage is safe with him.
It's not likely the senate would vote to impeach no matter what the Mueller Report says. They will stick with him because he protects their selfish, hateful interests. They are him, no different, just not coated in orange stain.
We are well on our way to being a third world country led by a cruel dictator who is supported by an army of ginned up fools. We can't count on the 2020 elections to stop him if they are rigged again.
The criminal investigations in the various courts must succeed, and in spite of our fears, every last person of conscience needs to vote. There are still more of us then the brainwashed cult.
by Anonymous | reply 281 | March 23, 2019 5:10 PM |
R281 again, and let's not forget stacking the courts with biased right-wingers. They will not give that up easily. Ruin it for the majority for another generation. These fucks are the devil.

I’ve heard that the report is hundreds of pages long, that would be in keeping with Mueller’s typical style.
R277, I never said Dump didn’t know or that he didn’t lie — of COURSE he knew. I think most likely Trump had a go-between for that call, meaning Junior was relaying info on the phone and then that person somehow relayed the info to Dump. But the original suspicion that Trump was on the phone has been disproven.

How does Double Jeopardy work- if Mueller indicted Jared, Don Jr and/or Ivanka, clearly Trump would pardon them. Would the SDNY still be able to charge them on the same crimes? I'm thinking not. So is this why Mueller didn't indict and instead, farmed out evidence to the SDNY?
by Anonymous | reply 287 | March 23, 2019 5:27 PM |

"Despair" and "deza trolls" are working this weekend.
We're not supposed to know or remember that multiple investigations are going on,
we're to forget Mueller helped bring down mobster John Gotti, that Financial Crimes Enforcement Network exists,
that there's a difference between submitting a report to one's superior and releasing it to the public.
We're supposed to believe that Mueller and his wide, experienced legal and investigative team know less than anonymous bleaters who chose just this weekend to emerge on this board and elsewhere.
If you have no evidence to back up your conjectures, your input has no substance.

I hope- at the very least- that Trump's shitty behavior (the firings, accusations, insults, threats and the lies...) about the investigation for 2+ years will influence those voters who were on the fence about him in 2016. The ones who thought he'd "get more Presidential" after elected. The Deplorables who voted for the draft dodger with their noses plugged, thinking he was going to bring back those $40/hr. factory jobs grandpa told them about. The voters who thought he was going to use his financial genius to make gold coins rain down from Heaven.
That may be the most we get out of The Mueller Report: just enough votes to kick him out of the White House.

the problem is with the moderates who only casually follow the news. The media has hyped up the Mueller report as the final word and news of no further indictments will mean to most casual news viewers that this is all over. Don't be shocked if Trump's approval rating goes up a few points a week or 2 from now.
Until 1 of the other investigations leads to an indictment of Don Jr, Ivanka and Jared, things will stay the same.
Even if there's all kinds of damaging info on Trump in the report and we get access to some of it, the narrative that will be pushed by some is "well nothing was criminal and improper is acceptable". The only outrage that would emerge is if Mueller indicates he would have indicted Trump had the DOJ rule not been that we don't indict sitting Presidents.

any answers Mueller wasn't able to get to are likely due to some of the participants being Russians whom he obviously can't speak to as we have no extradition treaty with Russia and the unwillingness of Manafort to cooperate
Also the one smart thing Trump did is to not text or email as he knows that would have incriminated him. The question is whether everyone else around him texted and emailed everything (beyond Don Jr's Trump Tower meeting fiasco)

Some in the media are just too fucking stupid. Many of them are already throwing their hands up saying there's nothing there when they have seen one fucking thing from the report. WE KNOW from what has already come out via indictments and such that this "president" is the most vile, corrupt piece of shit EVER to occupy the WH by a country mile. This report is not going to give him exoneration except perhaps not having a smoking gun with Russian collusion but what will he do when the report says Russia attacked our voting systems and rigged the election? Go let Vlad tea bag him some more?
by Anonymous | reply 360 | March 23, 2019 8:44 PM |

I still think Mueller wasn't allowed to finish the report on his timeline. Barr interfered.
I mean, what exactly were all of those people given immunity or reduced sentences for if their cooperation lead to nothing at all? As it stands now, it would make Manafort the number one target of this entire investigation and we know that's not the case. Yeah, a lot was passed off to the states, especially New York, but there is no way the entire federal part had Manafort's prosecution as pretty much its sole outcome.
by Anonymous | reply 363 | March 23, 2019 8:51 PM |
Good point, r363. Any cooperation those that were granted immunity have given won't mean shit unless the DOJ decides to use their info to indict others.

by Anonymous | reply 367 | March 23, 2019 8:59 PM |
I pray there is plenty for indictments but he was restrained by current DOJ policy to not indict a sitting president. Trump’s boast that the people will not stand for it is hilarious. Most people disapprove of him.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | March 23, 2019 9:03 PM |
Im hoping that Mueller found that the investigation encompassed so many high ranking officials....Pres, VP, cabinet members, aides and children, that he decided it was a national security issue and that the DOJ needs to be the one to reign it in via prosecutions. That would explain the abrupt end with no interviews for most of the people involved.

I think something is wrong here. It's like election night. It doesn't feel right. We know that Mueller had prepared to be fired by placing many of the indictments in other jurisdictions as a means of protecting the investigation. He doesn't do that if there is nothing to be protected. I'm wondering if Barr put major pressure on him to finish. There are too many outstanding issues for him to be done. Roger Stone, Company A, Flynn, Andrew Miller for refusing to appear to grand jury are all in progress. I agree with R363 you don't give Flynn the type of deal he got because he's a good guy. He's a nasty piece of work. The judge basically accused him of treason. Maybe this is why so many in congress are saying there are more indictments to come. Let's see how Barr handles this. I wonder who at DOJ has access to report. Was it transmitted to Barr alone and he is keeping it locked up. Did Rosenstein receive a copy? I can see a scenario where Barr has the only copy and issues a report saying the SC did not indict the president and that all other aspects of the report cannot be seen due to national security or because additional "investigations are underway." Those investigations could drag out for years - at least until after 2020.
by Anonymous | reply 374 | March 23, 2019 9:49 PM |
Why is everyone worried that the report will be scrubbed or burned? All the Democrats have to do - and they've already said they will- is call on Mueller to testify. And couldn't he do 2 hearings? A public hearing...along with a closed door hearing so that the House can hear all of the classified information that Mueller can't spill in a public hearing.
by Anonymous | reply 375 | March 23, 2019 10:17 PM |
I hope Mueller kept his own copy of the report.

They could easily find out if Barr put pressure on him to finish so I'm not sure that's the case.
As for the lack of further indictments from Muller, it's my hope that he simply sent passed things off to other state AGs to make sure that the President couldn't pardon his closest [family] people.
Either way we don't know what's in the report at the moment so I think it's too soon to panic.

For the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to deliver a Hillary hate speech, then spurring "lock her up" chant is disgusting.
I can't help but think of Rosenstein bringing those hundreds of prosecutors to D.C. Maybe [R369] is on to something.
What happened with all of them? Were they even mentioned again over the last year or so?
If Mueller is called before Congress, I fully expect that he will not answer the questions on people who were not indicted. It's the practice of prosecutors to not discuss the cases they do not prosecute because the lack of indictment means there wasn't enough evidence to charge, therefore, in the prosecutor's eyes, that person is just a citizen who may be suspected of something but the evidence did not reach the level of prosecution. One of the prosecutors talked about this in reference to some other case on one of the news shows.
In other words, it's possible that they could call Mueller before Congress and not get anything more than exactly what is written in the report.

Here are the favorite villains on Fox that hosts and commentators passionately insult and blame to rile up their viewers endlessly:
Obama (though he's taken a back seat in the last year), is blamed for ruining everything especially the economy, liar, targets conservatives
Hillary (and once in a while Bill) is the epitome of evil in their eyes. The most corrupt woman ever who repeatedly has broken the law and escaped punishment
Pelosi (their #1 now, they like to use both current issues and ones in the past when she was also Speaker)
Schiff (their #2 now, he is constantly referred to as a liar and highly partisan)
Ocasio-Cortez (woman, Hispanic and they're labeling her as a super socialist who wants to make this country like Venezuela)
Omar (woman,, black, Muslim) is used to show the left has lost their minds and is moving away from true American values
Comey for "letting Hillary off the hook", investigating Trump, speaking out about Trump after his firing, is also discredited as a complete liar and should be locked up
Waters (woman, Black and very outspoken against Trump). She is labeled as corrupt, stupid and highly partisan
Lynch (woman, Black and Obama's AG). She is labeled as incompetent and a liar, should be locked up as well
Rice (woman, Black and again part of Obama's administration). She is also labeled as a liar, incompetent and should be locked up
Holder (Black, Obama's former AG) is described as a liar and highly partisan, should be locked up. NEVER FORGET FAST & FURIOUS!1!1!1!
Warren (woman) she is considered to be that annoying, nagging liberal woman who wants to turn everything upside down + Pocahontas!!!!
Jussie Smollett is their new pop culture person to follow. He is their proof that all liberals lie and plot against innocent, angelic white, conservative, xtians

This, in all likelihood. It must have been incensing for Mueller and his team to have been coerced into 'submitting' the report before it was completed.
(Imagine an author or filmmaker bullied into releasing a magnum opus before he/she had finished to their professional satisfaction.)
Thus Mueller and his team's integrity and scrupulousness have been compromised.
As against all that: such committed professionals, having invested big chunks of their lives on this crisis of corruption, are highly unlikely just to pack up and leave vital loose ends unexplored. That's not the way such minds work. There's a good chance all that remains will find its way into the public domain somehow.
Also: despite evidence of crowing about 'no indictments' - doubtless energised by the likely bullying of Mueller into 'completing', aka 'showing him who's boss' - the loud silence from Trump indicates that nonetheless there's more than enough in the report already to cause him significant damage.
by Anonymous | reply 436 | March 24, 2019 7:51 AM |
All Congress has to do a subpoena Mueller and ask him if he was forced or coerced to turn in his report before he felt it was complete. If his answer is yes, the shit will hit the fan. End of story.
And the Flynn and Stone story will come out soon enough.
This, in all likelihood. It must have been incensing for Mueller and his team to have been coerced into 'submitting' the report before it was completed.
But didn't we give Mueller some sort of credit for being at least five steps ahead of his enemies, like Trump? Didn't we claim that Mueller has planned well ahead for Rosenstein getting fired and someone new putting in his place causing trouble for Mueller? And now it's like Mueller has been caught off guard and had to end early?
I think Mueller did plan ahead by handing some of the investigation over to others and follow those leads, he discovered, further.
I believe that the Mueller report is only one of the few things getting Trump and the GOP in trouble. The Steele Dossier got the ball rolling. And the Mueller report is only one of many avalanches that Trump will have to figth to not get buried in.
But didn't we give Mueller some sort of credit for being at least five steps ahead of his enemies, like Trump?
We did, and that's a fair point. Mueller will have the wry satisfaction that his Trump-safe stratagems were well-judged.
I suppose that I'm exercised by the (assumed) possibility that Mueller was indeed harassed into too-soon 'completion.' He above all knows the depth and breadth of corruption we infer, and knew he needed more time to follow the money. As did his would-be untouchable opponents.
Thus the very forces he's investigated so painstakingly pulled the plug. Because they could. Patriot and man of integrity Mueller is unlikely just to shrug and say, 'Them's the breaks.' Then again, of course he's effortlessly able to see a long game as against Trump's desperate daily patchwork.

No indictment does not mean no collusion.
No indictment can mean several different things, for several different reasons.
Stop spinning that no indictment means no collusion.
No indictment due to technicalities regarding provable collusion, does not mean no collusion.
You would have to be a complete idiot, to believe there wasn’t collusion. Just because it may not meet legal thresholds, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Let's say Trump and team colluded with Russians to take down Hillary. Do you think the average American will care? R463, Trump clumsily and erratically tweets on weekends where he is angry and pissed off at the news or needs to distract from something.
He actually likes the news this weekend since it's favorable to him so he isn't going to ruin this by tweeting. He is basking in this moment and is probably enjoying making people wonder why he hasn't tweeted.
by Anonymous | reply 478 | March 24, 2019 4:52 PM |
They probably took his phone away.
This is way too sensitive a moment to leave to chance.
We haven't seen one syllable of the report yet...

There's a part of me that thinks this whole situation is so deeply embarrassing and points to such terrible misdeeds that TPTB do not want the full story out there.

Then why are Democrats freaking out?
by Anonymous | reply 491 | March 24, 2019 5:56 PM |
Because they know how shady and corrupt the repugs are.
They are not to be trusted. No better than common thieves.
by Anonymous | reply 492 | March 24, 2019 5:59 PM |
I'm actually more inclined to believe that Rethugs are worried about something.
Something doesn't seem right if there was in fact nothing in Mueller's report.
Why the massive uptick in troll posts? We're not just talking a few more troll posts here and there, there's a surge of it. That usually only happens when they're trying to bury something, not when things look good for them.
Second, the fact that someone is working so hard to FF and grey this thread out and bury other legitimate threads tells me they want all discussion on the matter stopped. Almost as if they can shut the conversation down they can make people forget about it.
Again, why go through all that if the news is actually good for you?

by Anonymous | reply 496 | March 24, 2019 6:04 PM |
I'm not, r491.
I tempered my expectations of the Mueller Report a long time ago. It dawned on me that the notion that he was going to come along like Santa Claus with a sackful of indictable and CONVICTABLE level high crimes and misdemeanors was to be tempered.
And that's not to say that Traitor Tot isn't now, nor in the past, run a self-dealing criminal cabal at the expense of the Office of the US Presidency. He is and has.
What r493 said. What's between his words will be more telling. He could, without actually writing in letters two feet high, signal TRUMP IS AN INCOMPETENT MORON, which poltically and electorally speaking could be even more damaging than outright "collusion".
by Anonymous | reply 498 | March 24, 2019 6:05 PM |
The only thing they keep harping on his "no collusion," well, that's fine since collusion isn't a thing.
What about conspiracy?
I really wonder if they just did what they always do... leaked something they wanted people to believe so people would just forget about it all and they'd bury what they didn't want you to know in a summarized version of the report.

There may be damning evidence against Trump in Mueller's Report but he couldn't charge him because he's US President. So basically, a sitting President can break any law he wants to (including treason) and get away with it. A President is ABOVE THE LAW. Who the fuck made up this law/precedent? And screw Congress. If the report is truly horrendous for Trump, and it gets released and widely known by the public, it will be very interesting to see how senate republicans handle it.
If they still vocally support him, it’ll look very bad to those independents who pay attention to politics. And that could spell doom for those up in 2020. So depending on how damning it is, they may need to take action to save themselves.
