WaPo:
Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has submitted a confidential report to Attorney General William P. Barr, marking the end of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible obstruction of justice by President Trump, a Justice Department spokeswoman said.
The Justice Department notified Congress late Friday that it had received Mueller’s report but did not describe its contents. Barr is expected to summarize the findings for lawmakers in coming days.

by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 22, 2019 9:08 PM |
NTY: Mr. Barr will decide how much of the report to share with Congress and, by extension, the American public. The House voted unanimously in March on a nonbinding resolution to make public the report’s findings, an indication of the deep support within both parties to air whatever evidence prosecutors uncovered.
Since Mr. Mueller’s appointment in May 2017, his team has focused on how Russian operatives sought to sway the outcome of the 2016 presidential race and whether anyone tied to the Trump campaign, wittingly or unwittingly, cooperated with them. While the inquiry, started months earlier by the F.B.I., unearthed a far-ranging Russian influence operation, no public evidence has emerged that the president or his aides illegally assisted it.
Nonetheless, the damage to Mr. Trump and those in his circle has been extensive. A half-dozen former Trump aides have been indicted or convicted of crimes, mostly for lying to federal investigators or Congress. Others remain under investigation in cases that Mr. Mueller’s office handed off to federal prosecutors in New York and elsewhere. Dozens of Russian intelligence officers or citizens, along with three Russian companies, were charged in cases that are likely to languish in court because the defendants cannot be extradited to the United States.

Hillary is already asserting to Trump what the report will conclude.

Why did he deliver it on a Friday?

I'm a bit disappointed by this; I was desperately hoping for the smug Jared & Ivanka to be hauled away in handcuffs while Steve Bannon and John Kelly hysterically laugh and tell anyone who'll listed about how they dropped a dime on them. I mean I guess the bigger prize is taking down Dump, but still...

Wait. So when we were sitting around waiting for the Starr Report, there was no talk about holding back information from the public. The Republicans all loved the part with the cigar. And now Barr's going to decide what we can see.

Has to be said: People have put too much hope into this guy to fix everything. No Bueno. He's a still a Republican when all is said and done.
House Democrats have several opportunities they can take concerning this administration. This is going to have to be the responsibility of them to right these wrongs.

This thread is a low-quality imposter.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 22, 2019 9:29 PM |
R30 the Starr report came under a different law that either expired or was repealed. The Democrats didn't like Starr being able to just go anywhere he wanted and charge anything he wanted so they changed the law to limit what investigators could do and what he could report. Well that sure backfired on them.

This is going to be why Trump wins in 2020. It will be much ado about nothing and give him the perfect fodder to make us Dems look paranoid and singularly focused on a home run, instead of focusing on the Trump's horrible policies. As far as the whole “what to release” vs “release it all”, I do remember one of the legal guys on cable saying something like it has been long standing policy/practice at DOJ to not release the names publicly of those that were investigated but were not found to have actually done anything. Something about “ruining reputations” and those persons not having a day in court to defend themselves/their actions. This was the reason Trump used to fire Comey if I’m recalling correctly what the legal expert said.
Can any DL lawyers explain more about the “sealed indictments” part in all this? Were they just used as leverage to guarantee cooperation, and now will be dismissed?
Part of me wonders if Trump was really ever a target - could it be they/Mueller were really after those around him like Manafort and Flynn all along? I’m still anxious/curious to see what Mueller’s findings are.

The whole Mueller report was never going to show anything. There wasn’t any Russian collusion to help Trump win.
People in PA, OH, WI, and MI simply didn’t vote for Hillary because she was a terrible candidate. Russians didn’t convince them of that. Her 30 year history of scandals and lying convinced them. Oh and calling these voters “deplorable” didn’t help her case either.
Anyone that was expecting the Mueller report to get Trump out of office was deluding themselves.
Democrats will have to run a better campaign with a better candidate this time around if they want Trump gone.

If Trump is found not to have colluded, which seems likely, they’ll use that to mow over the constellation of sleazy things Trump’s done, things that would’ve gotten any other president impeached before we entered this bizarro universe. Collusion is really immaterial at this point, isn’t it? He’s done so much that’s unethical and beyond the pale. The media can’t let lack of collusion, if that’s the versict register as a blanket reprieve for all the shit Trump’s done.

And, that's just stupid. What is there to mock? These matters warrant investigation. Even Ray Charles blind and dead wouldn't need Stevie Wonder's help to see that Trump is corrupt. In the end, the elite can't really prosecute their own as it might come back to bite them. Too many of them are also operating outside the law. This is part of elite privilege and why Trump breezed through life without ever coming close to going to jail despite his many scams that would have sank a lower-income criminal.
With Nixon, the elite even made it seem a virtue that they let him off the hook. They said it was for the public good! It was for us. LOL!

People are still going in circles trying to rationalize this saying "sealed" indictments may exist. Trump still can be indicted!
Look, Trump is three years into a term that people didn't think he'd even last a year in. It's time to focus more on 2020 and who can kick him out next year and focusing on conspiracies like Russian collusiom and if that anything to do with what happened in 2016 does us no favors. Republicans have colluded with foreign enemies to become President for years. Remember Reagan and the backchannel to the Iranians? Or Nixon and his talks with the Vietnamese? Bush and his connections to the Saudis? The American public is not going to care even if Russia helped elect Trump or if he's collecting money from the Saudis. They will care if you explain how their tax refund or salary is low because of Trump. Explain the policies and we will get him out of here.

We always knew Mueller wouldn't indict trump because of DoJ regulations. He's Mr By the Book.
There are investigations on-going all over the country. Fuckface von Clownstick is an unindicted Co-Conspirator in the federal illegal campaign contribution case that Cohen's going to jail for.
The state of New York (not under federal jurisdiction) has the foundation fraud/theft, other illegal campaign contribution, real estate fraud, tax evasion, money laundering and some other cases I'm forgetting. They involve Fuckface, both Fredos, kosher Barbie and Ken and the entire trump org.

You may very well be right, r277, but the shrieking and concern trolling over this report, the contents of which we have yet to see, is completely absurd. Were people thinking it would be submitted and one second later, Trump would be removed from office in handcuffs and thrown into jail, or what?

R284, he have 80 threads on Datalounge expecting indictment all due to that windbag Maddow's "reporting".
Her big scoops led to a major thud.
She needs to step down. Trump and his turd base will be reveling in this "win" over the fake news media all due to this bitch and her Russiagate conspiracy. She just couldn't admit she was wrong when she said Hillary had a 97% chance of winning and it was impossible Trump would win. It had to be all Russia because surely Rachel could never be wrong. She's the same person who gave people like Hillary and her team the false confidence that they would win and campaigning vigorously was perhaps not needed. Her smug political forecasting helped bring us to where we are today: Trump as president and forever emboldened

Appears as if Rosenstein was in Trump's camp all-along. Trump and his cronies managed to chase away McCabe, Comey, and a bunch of other investigators. On Don Jr.'s phone was a call made to a blocked number after the meeting with the Russian emissaries, and Trump uses a blocked number.
He knew about it (probably arranged it, too) and then he lied about it- just like his son did.

by Anonymous | reply 301 | March 23, 2019 1:14 PM |
Anyone who thinks that this exonerates Trump completely or that it’s over are buying inyo Trump’s spin. There is a reason that the lawyers and the WH were crowing “no collusion!” after Cohen’s testimony—it may be the only thing of which he is innocent. There is more satisfaction to a dramatic, single stroke of the sword ending things, but real life is nor usually like that. It’s usually more like death by a thousand cuts. You really think all that Russian money is clean? That all those people were lying for no reason?
Don’t let them spin this into a nothingburger—it never was. It was the first time a president was formally investigated for treason (ethically if not technically treason). There is a reason that happened.
And if Rrump was found not to have colluded, it does not change the fact that Russia still swung things through interference. We were attacked. Clinton still won the popular vote by nearly three million. Trump won through cheating by a foreign power and nothing change that FACT, not the fact that his Deutsche Bank money trail *cannot* be clean after all these years of sketchy dealings nor his flouting of national security and probable enabling of the death of Kasshogi, nor his pussy grabbing, nor his paying off porn stars, nor his scads of “executive time,” his pettiness and tantrums...get real.

Mueller report: Why so many of President Donald Trump's aides lied to protect him in Russia investigations
[quote] WASHINGTON – The first lie – the first one that was a crime, at least – came on the fourth day of Donald Trump’s presidency, in a White House office down the hall from Trump’s own.
[quote] That day, a pair of FBI agents came to question Trump’s top national security aide, Mike Flynn, about his dealings with the Russian government. Flynn gave the agents a tour of his new spot in the new administration, interrupted at one point as Trump and some movers walked past discussing where to hang art on the walls. Then Flynn took them back to his corner office and calmly lied to them about conversations with Russia’s ambassador.
by Anonymous | reply 306 | March 23, 2019 1:56 PM |
r24, that's scary also. If there isn't enough to indict him on collusion if he were no longer sitting president we all know he is an incompetent, money laundering, bribe accepting liar, trying to enrich his family on the backs of this country.
He will have to face charges from the SDNY when out of office and will be treated like the same piece of garbage he is now. No one surrounded by so many wrong doers is clean. No one that lies to cover up and obstruct justice is clean. They could never get Capone on the racketeering so we can settle for following the money to lead to his downfall.

I do and I think that it has. Just look at all of the inconsistencies and lies that have been uncovered by the Mueller investigation. This investigation busted the door open and now we have 47-50 legitimate investigations in process. I wrote this earlier: We all know that Trump is as guilty as sin. Even the Deplorables--especially the ones posting here, know that too. This is now just a process (and it's been that way for awhile now) of gathering the hard evidence.

One think that did not sit right with me this morning is the announcement by the media that "Democrats are having a "strategy" call in a few hours." I just didn't like how that was phrased. The bottom line is that repukes will defend this fake prez to the bitter end. It doesn't matter to them if he is an odious fool. He is giving them what they want.
1. Smaller government. By leaving slots unfilled, filling others with incompetents and spies, and letting go experienced scientists and the like, he is destroying government from within. Yeah, short term red meat for the base, but long term negative consequences for the majority of us. Less research, less competitive innovation, and we fall farther behind in expertise and excellence.
2. Lower taxes and big cuts for the wealthy, rich political allies and cronies. Good news for them, bad news for the deficit and the rest of us who will suffer from lack of infrastructure and services.
3. Elimination or rights for women, LGBT, and communities of color deemed inferior by the racist, sexist, white supremacist in the White House and his cruel cronies.
4. Threaten and bully our allies while elevating dictators and other criminals like Netanyahu. Cater to ignorant deplorables and demonize liberals. The deplorables love to bully a scapegoat and they will hate whoever trump & allies tell them to hate. They will happily take to the streets with their guns when directed.
5. Their guns are safe with him. Their hypocritical pro-life stance is safe with him. Their hate and rage is safe with him.
We are well on our way to being a third world country led by a cruel dictator who is supported by an army of ginned up fools. We can't count on the 2020 elections to stop him if they are rigged again.
The criminal investigations in the various courts must succeed, and in spite of our fears, every last person of conscience needs to vote. There are still more of us then the brainwashed cult.

I think we need to focus more on money laundering (something more likely to find concrete evidence for) and less on the latter since that obviously has been a bust.

As a last point, Rachel’s alleged crying will not determine if Trump gets to spend any time in jail or tell us what’s in the Mueller report.

She came off as a joke. The steam in her engine clearly ran low and she was running out of things to say.
Where does she go from here? Will she continue with the Mueller/Russiagate conspiracy she got carried away with ? Or will she finally move on and balance her show with actual news stories that showcase how Trump is not fixing our economy?

I haven't been a fan of the direction of Rachel's show for the last two or three years. I've been watching since 2010. But I didn't see her crying, holding back tears, looking depressed, or defeated. She looked tired. That's no shock.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | March 23, 2019 6:29 PM |
R214... Right. Mueller is one piece of the investigation. It essentially went no where, at least not what many people wanted. There are other investigations still open against trump. I don't get my hopes up, though. 2016 was a tough lesson, that hit hard.

Her eyes do appear to be welling up in the r364 clip.
I'm sure Rachel, like many journalists, have a lot of inside connections that feed them news through grapevine...and maybe he got word that the report (in a nutshell) is much ado about nothing.
I never believed the Mueller report would save us.

Has Maddow had a nervous breakdown yet?
by Anonymous | reply 374 | March 23, 2019 6:36 PM |
She didn't cry but she was definitely teary eyed. There's nothing Rachel hates more than being wrong.
She was wrong and overly excited about this Mueller report that she led everyone to believe would be a slam dunk. Everybody who said to not have big expectations was shut down as a Russian or Trump supporter. Chris Cuomo even said he didn't expect the report to be that eventful. Maddow was the main news anchor fluffing and hyping up the Mueller report as an imminent political catastrophe for Trump

MSNBC pundit Harry Litman has an op ed in today's WaPo which reminds us that Mueller's probe of Manafort uncovered contacts with Kalimnik, which went to "the very heart of the investigation" (as Andrew Weissmann told Judge Ellis). There is there, there.
The stupid media is catering to stupid people who want Trump exonerated.

I watch Maddox regularly and she never promised anything in regards to the Mueller report. She has reported in detail on the suspicious activity around the Trump cabal. She also tried to gain context for what’s been going on in the multiple investigations. She’s been incredibly informative and she admits when she doesn’t know where things are going.
If you watched her show for promises of events to come, you were watching her show the wrong way.

The Trump team changed the Republican platform at the convention to fit what Russia wanted. Manafort joined the campaign for no pay even though he owed Russian oligarchs millions of dollars. Manafort sent a Russian oligarchs polling research from inside the Trump campaign, Trump welcomed Russian government officials into the Oval Office and said he fired Comey which should be good for them.

People are focused far too much on the disappointment of Trump not going to jail. In reality, this is more like the death of a thousand cuts. Trump's every breath is fueled by loyalty and money and right now, the only loyal ones he's got are Ivanka, Jared and Don Jr. If any or all of them are charged with things like money laundering, tax evasion, financial crimes etc., then Trump might start to wish he had gone to jail.
You take away Trump's money, the Trump Org., and send Ivanka, Jared and Don Jr. into either bankruptcy or jail and that is more of an endless jail sentence for Trump than a holding cell.
Of course, the cherry on the sundae is that he can't whine at his rallies about losing all money and no one there will give a shit about Jared going to jail.

So, either you're a troll or very uninformed about this process.
For shits and giggles, read the CV the house, Pelosi hired as general counsel back in January.

Trump has more female senior advisers than last three administrations
President Trump has seven women currently serving as senior White House advisers — more than any of his three predecessors.
At the same time in their presidencies, Barack Obama had five; George W. Bush three, and Bill Clinton five.
The report, in the Washington Examiner, notes that presidents who served before Clinton appointed so few women to top jobs that Trump’s record may be higher than that of any chief executive in history.

Very strange.... Some highlights;
[quote]While there was not a strict plan in place ahead of the report's conclusion, Trump and his Republican allies immediately launched an effort to cast the document as absolving him of wrongdoing. Talking points distributed by the Republican National Committee encouraged Trump's allies to stress that "after two years, millions of taxpayer dollars, and multiple congressional investigations confirming there was no collusion, it's good this report has finally concluded."
[quote]Trump himself had grown impatient with the waiting game, aides said, which dominated his beloved cable news for several days. As it became clear Mueller was nearing the end of his investigation, Trump appeared in a combative and sometimes foul mood. It was hard to separate the two things, and aides openly speculated his 50-tweet rage last weekend and his renewed attacks on Sen. John McCain were an attempt to counter-program the investigation's end.
[quote]Later, he appeared on stage at an fundraiser for the Palm Beach Republicans underway in the Louis XIV-style ballroom named in his honor. Trump didn't mention the Mueller report in his remarks -- but as his close ally Sen. Lindsey Graham was calling on the FBI to investigate Hillary Clinton, Trump looked on as the crowd broke into a "lock her up" chant.

It is AbsoFuckingLutely the Case that everything in Mueller's Report is laying the groundwork for Trump and his family to be prosecuted by the New York AG. He knew that his hands were tied by American History (( can't indict a sitting president), our corrupt Republican dominated Senate, the fact that the Orange turd wouldn't give two-shits about Obstruction and would Pardon his kids if they were prosecuted, and finally, the Fact that the Supreme Court itself is stacked against justice.
Mueller wouldn't have gone through all the hassle of turning, indicting, and prosecuting every dirty Trump player that he did unless he was going to use them to bring the Whole House of Cards Down.

Half the country will still love Trump. I don't think people get how cultish his fanbase is.
Since there aren't any indictments of him or his family which is what the big catch was supposed to be, then this investigation was a waste. We know nothing more now than we did 2 years ago.

Last night I heard someone say “Trump is so smart” and I said no he’s an illiterate idiot. She said to have that kind of money a person has to be smart. I replied he inherited money and went bankrupt several times. She said “oh, that’s how they all do”. This is just an acquaintance and she only watches Fox and sports. That’s it. She doesn’t read and is not very intellectually curious despite having a masters in education. His base is the same as he.is. Intellectually lazy and all info is gleaned from what Fox is telling them or not telling them.
by Anonymous | reply 496 | March 24, 2019 3:50 PM |
R494, he could have issued indictments to every member of his family including little Tiffany who spends her time minding her own business and nothing would change that part of the country's mind.
As others have said it makes more sense for him to lay out what happened and have, say, NY State indict them so they can't be pardoned. Mueller wasn't the only cog in this wheel working/that worked to take him down.
It seems like many people set a lot of unrealistic expectations for what they expected to happen and a lot of those expectations were based upon the same media that got him elected when Mueller himself hasn't said anything.
Seeing that report will be the first time he truly gets to speak but if he wanted to create a "nothing burger" he could have ended it a year ago.

It won't look good for the Democrats if they continue to investigate Trump. His supporters will think he's being picked on, but sometimes doing what is right for the good of country is difficult and unpopular. I do hope that the Democrats will not back down no matter what kind of criticism they will undoubtedly get. Trump and his cronies are criminals, that is undisputable, and they can no longer be allowed to get away with what they are doing. I wish the Democrats and the SDNY the strength to persevere through this corrupt, evil administration and the idiocy of the brainwashed deplorables.. It will be a rough road ahead, but I still believe that good will triumph in the end.

You see, this is the problem with the average citizen, in my opinion. They have bought into the Trump myth. They see what they want to see and for many it's not so much about Republican versus Democrats. But, more about greed and envy. They see the houses, cars, beautiful clothing, etc. Many people are attracted to what they perceive to be the Trump lifestyle. Joyce Vance writes:
We do know that prosecutors in the Southern District of New York view Trump as an all-but-unnamed-co-conspirator to campaign finance fraud. Including "Individual 1" in an indictment is not a step the DOJ would have taken without deliberate consideration. Mueller stayed carefully within his jurisdiction to investigate collusion between the campaign and Russia and did not pass judgment, as far as we know, on evidence that has surfaced regarding potential crimes including campaign finance violations, financial misconduct related to the inauguration, and insurance and bank fraud involving the president's businesses. Investigation and decisions about charging those matters are still pending in both federal and state prosecutors' offices.
More: Here's why you should have faith in Robert Mueller and the Russia investigation
So the president cannot claim he has a clean bill of health because the special counsel didn't indict him.
There is abundant evidence in the public record — and no telling what else the investigation may have uncovered that we don't know about — of bad conduct by this president. Even if Mueller concluded that the president committed no crimes (we don’t know whether that is the conclusion he reached yet or not), criminal investigations will continue in other jurisdictions. And Congress has a separate obligation to engage in oversight and determine whether the president has engaged in misconduct that, while not a violation of the criminal code, constitutes high crimes or misdemeanors.
What does all of this mean for us?
First, Barr committed, in the letter he wrote to congressional leaders, to transparency. He told them he would share the "principal conclusions" Mueller reached with them this weekend. He said he would consult with Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein to determine "what other information" from the report could be released to Congress and to the public. These are important commitments and we should hold him to them. In a matter so deeply important to the country, the public has a right to know.
Congress cannot engage in oversight without full transparency from DOJ. Congress must have access to Mueller's investigation, both the criminal side and counterintelligence assessments, to aid in its investigation. The country is entitled to no less.
But we, private citizens in this country, are also entitled to Mueller's conclusions. The attorney general should release the report, with necessary but narrow redactions, as soon as possible. We are not children, who can't be trusted with the family secrets. We are full participants in our country and we are entitled to the truth about this president and his presidency.
If Barr understands his job is to be the people’s lawyer, not the president’s, he will disclose the Mueller report publicly. But it doesn’t stop there. Each of us must read it carefully and draw our own conclusions about to its contents. We shouldn't accept the spin of a president or of pundits. This is the time to think critically about the facts – because there are facts and they still matter.
If the president claims investigation by Congress is a witch hunt because Mueller didn't indict him, we should remember that the criminal justice system and the legislative branch are assigned different responsibilities under the Constitution. If Trump twists the report’s language to delegitimize Congress' investigation, we must compare that claim to the actual findings Mueller made. And in the event significant portions of the report are not made public, we must consider what it means that Trump’s DOJ would do that.
Mueller's work may have ended. But ours has just begun.

Much of the evidence that Mueller discovered was farmed out to New York DA, Southern District. They deal with financial and organized crimes. Mueller's Investigations was a special investigation by the FBI, looking for evidence.
Also, Trump can pardon everyone that is convicted by this federal court. IF you want to get the Trump Family and Organization, you have to go through the state DA Office.
About any impeachment, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) is not going to impeach Trump. The Republicans have the majority in the Senate. The American people have to vote the Orange Dictator out of office in 2020, since the Republican party will not check. The Republican should also be voted out of power for this.

by Anonymous | reply 573 | March 24, 2019 9:21 PM |
IDIOTS -- it was BARR who has said there was no obstruction -- NOT MUELLER.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | March 24, 2019 9:22 PM |
Exactly. And Barr auditioned for the job saying Presidents can't be indicted.

Use the block function, dear R573. I surely won't miss you.

r570- you people make me laugh
by Anonymous | reply 577 | March 24, 2019 9:25 PM |
R575, do you think Barr came up with that policy? It’s been the DoJ norm for years as a separation of branches of government. He didn’t just come up with that.
by Anonymous | reply 578 | March 24, 2019 9:25 PM |
It's over people! Now if you want a shot at 2020, leave this alone and focus on a candidate that can possibly beat Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | March 24, 2019 9:28 PM |
Thanks R579, that was funny.

Let the trashing of Mueller commence

According to a statement by the Mueller team which I found on the other thread: "[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.” In other words, there were election interference activities by the Russian government to benefit Trump.
People looking for clear-cut evidence of conspiracy - e.g. secret meetings between Trump factotums and Russian agents in former Soviet bloc cities - are basing their expectations on Hollywood and spy novels.
The Mueller report will reveal much about Russian connections, just wait until it is read and assessed. Those sealed indictments are also of great interest.

The report clearly states Trump is not exonerated here.
by Anonymous | reply 588 | March 24, 2019 10:09 PM |
The more I look at this letter, the more it's clear that we need to see the full report. Barr's letter is a snow job. We're not going to have a clue what Mueller really uncovered until we can see the full report, and Congress can see the underlying evidence.
by Anonymous | reply 589 | March 24, 2019 10:11 PM |
Absolutely, r588/r589. By being "disappointed" all we are doing is allowing Trump and the Repugs to shape the "narrative", which is very risky. The message should be: "the report is extensive and thorough, no conclusions can be made until the full report is read and absorbed"

[quote]@LauraAJarrett Context as you read: am told Special Counsel Robert Mueller was not consulted on this letter. This was the product of the Attorney General Bill Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, per DOJ official.

There are no sealed indictments, dumbass at R587.

[quote]Mueller concludes that Hillary is the sole reason why she lost the election.
There was still a Russian disinformation campaign - all Mueller says is that there's not evidence that Trump was involved in it.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler, said on Sunday his panel would call Attorney General William Barr to testify shortly, citing concerns over Barr’s conclusions from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe report.
“In light of the very concerning discrepancies and final decision making at the Justice Department following the Special Counsel report, where Mueller did not exonerate the President, we will be calling Attorney General Barr in to testify before @HouseJudiciary in the near future,” Nadler said on Twitter.

Nadler just needs to subpoena the fucking report. Drag in Barr to testify, sure, but he's just going to stonewall like he did at his confirmation hearing, so really, what's the point?
