Mueller Delivers Report

MSNBC: Mueller has delivered his report to AG William Barr.

by Anonymousreply 600March 24, 2019 10:44 PM

Let the leaking begin!

by Anonymousreply 1March 22, 2019 9:04 PM

WaPo:

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has submitted a confidential report to Attorney General William P. Barr, marking the end of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible obstruction of justice by President Trump, a Justice Department spokeswoman said.

The Justice Department notified Congress late Friday that it had received Mueller’s report but did not describe its contents. Barr is expected to summarize the findings for lawmakers in coming days.

Well done to you, OP.

by Anonymousreply 4March 22, 2019 9:06 PM

Bumping this thread because no way in hell am I following four threads

by Anonymousreply 5March 22, 2019 9:07 PM

No. I was first.

by Anonymousreply 6March 22, 2019 9:08 PM

NTY: Mr. Barr will decide how much of the report to share with Congress and, by extension, the American public. The House voted unanimously in March on a nonbinding resolution to make public the report’s findings, an indication of the deep support within both parties to air whatever evidence prosecutors uncovered.

Since Mr. Mueller’s appointment in May 2017, his team has focused on how Russian operatives sought to sway the outcome of the 2016 presidential race and whether anyone tied to the Trump campaign, wittingly or unwittingly, cooperated with them. While the inquiry, started months earlier by the F.B.I., unearthed a far-ranging Russian influence operation, no public evidence has emerged that the president or his aides illegally assisted it.

Nonetheless, the damage to Mr. Trump and those in his circle has been extensive. A half-dozen former Trump aides have been indicted or convicted of crimes, mostly for lying to federal investigators or Congress. Others remain under investigation in cases that Mr. Mueller’s office handed off to federal prosecutors in New York and elsewhere. Dozens of Russian intelligence officers or citizens, along with three Russian companies, were charged in cases that are likely to languish in court because the defendants cannot be extradited to the United States.

"I beat you."

Hillary is already asserting to Trump what the report will conclude.

by Anonymousreply 8March 22, 2019 9:09 PM

Why did he deliver it on a Friday?

by Anonymousreply 9March 22, 2019 9:09 PM

MSNBC: "According to the DOJ, we can expect the report to be delivered to Congress as soon as this weekend."

by Anonymousreply 10March 22, 2019 9:09 PM

They also said no more indictments will be coming.

So much for that.

by Anonymousreply 11March 22, 2019 9:09 PM

[quote]They also said no more indictments will be coming.

Who's "they"?

by Anonymousreply 12March 22, 2019 9:10 PM

I want to see the nudes. Weren't some nude pics found during the investigation?

by Anonymousreply 13March 22, 2019 9:11 PM

Mueller was smart to get SDNY involved for non-pardonable charges.

by Anonymousreply 14March 22, 2019 9:12 PM

Anti climatic report?

by Anonymousreply 15March 22, 2019 9:13 PM

Nope. Weather's great. Hopefully things will get steamy.

by Anonymousreply 16March 22, 2019 9:14 PM

R11, there are sealed indictments already filed.

NBC R12

by Anonymousreply 18March 22, 2019 9:15 PM

Mueller’s group has already said it will follow precedent and never indict a sitting president.

But what about his kids?

by Anonymousreply 19March 22, 2019 9:17 PM

They also said no more indictments will be coming.

I'm a bit disappointed by this; I was desperately hoping for the smug Jared & Ivanka to be hauled away in handcuffs while Steve Bannon and John Kelly hysterically laugh and tell anyone who'll listed about how they dropped a dime on them. I mean I guess the bigger prize is taking down Dump, but still...

R14, the SDNY is still part of the federal government and Trump can pardon any charges they drop, maybe you are thinking of the State of New York charges, those Trump can't pardon.

by Anonymousreply 29March 22, 2019 9:25 PM

Wait. So when we were sitting around waiting for the Starr Report, there was no talk about holding back information from the public. The Republicans all loved the part with the cigar. And now Barr's going to decide what we can see.

by Anonymousreply 30March 22, 2019 9:26 PM

[quote]Mueller’s group has already said it will follow precedent and never indict a sitting president.

That's pretty shitty. Even if the guy committed crimes, they won't prosecute him? Then what was the fucking point of this?

Has to be said: People have put too much hope into this guy to fix everything. No Bueno. He's a still a Republican when all is said and done.

House Democrats have several opportunities they can take concerning this administration. This is going to have to be the responsibility of them to right these wrongs.

by Anonymousreply 31March 22, 2019 9:27 PM

Am I the only Mueller Report thread OP not trying to get people to switch? Don't be sore losers.

The OP of this thread was first. He gets the win and the thread.

by Anonymousreply 32March 22, 2019 9:28 PM

No the OP wasn’t first. There’s a series going on that’s 87 parts.

This thread is a low-quality imposter.

by Anonymousreply 33March 22, 2019 9:29 PM

R30 the Starr report came under a different law that either expired or was repealed. The Democrats didn't like Starr being able to just go anywhere he wanted and charge anything he wanted so they changed the law to limit what investigators could do and what he could report. Well that sure backfired on them.

by Anonymousreply 64March 22, 2019 9:43 PM

r52, is right

by Anonymousreply 65March 22, 2019 9:44 PM

This is going to be why Trump wins in 2020. It will be much ado about nothing and give him the perfect fodder to make us Dems look paranoid and singularly focused on a home run, instead of focusing on the Trump's horrible policies. He'll be able to gloss over all of that and hammer home the fact that not even a "witch hunt" can bring him down.

We're fucked.

by Anonymousreply 81March 22, 2019 9:57 PM

I have a different take on why itmwas delivered on a Friday....

Maybe there is something of consequence in it and time will be needed to get the info assessed and disseminated before the stock market opens on Monday. Something major could tank the market.

by Anonymousreply 82March 22, 2019 9:58 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) — AP Source: Special counsel Robert Mueller is not recommending any further indictments in the Russia probe.

by Anonymousreply 97March 22, 2019 10:17 PM

Because you can’t indict a sitting president.

by Anonymousreply 98March 22, 2019 10:19 PM

My guess is that the report will hint at collusion but won't be able to definitely say either way that Trump did or did not collude.

by Anonymousreply 99March 22, 2019 10:21 PM

Like I have said from the very beginning...

Republican Mueller is not going to be the one to take down a Republican POTUS and Republican co-conspirators.

Now will you accept the truth?

by Anonymousreply 100March 22, 2019 10:21 PM

It's not about collusion. That's the Repugs line to keep throwing everybody off. It's conspiracy.

by Anonymousreply 102March 22, 2019 10:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 103March 22, 2019 10:23 PM

R77- What would be the point of indicting people like Ivanka, Jared or Donald Jr? Trump would just hand them pardons. The fact that Mueller farmed out a lot of stuff to the SDNY means he knows that's the only way to get those three behind bars.

by Anonymousreply 104March 22, 2019 10:23 PM

Thanks, r101, you'd think it was about collusion.

by Anonymousreply 105March 22, 2019 10:24 PM

R104, I agree with you. Trump would pardon everyone including himself if he had to. It wouldn’t have made sense for Mueller to Hand all the information that he has to Barr.

NY can make much better use of this information than Congress.

by Anonymousreply 106March 22, 2019 10:25 PM

WaPo's Rosalind Helderman:

Jerome Corsi, who was presented a plea deal by SCO, will not be charged. "They lost," he tells me. "They tried to give me a plea deal that was a lie and I exposed it....I'm vindicated. I'm done."

by Anonymousreply 111March 22, 2019 10:31 PM

As far as the whole “what to release” vs “release it all”, I do remember one of the legal guys on cable saying something like it has been long standing policy/practice at DOJ to not release the names publicly of those that were investigated but were not found to have actually done anything. Something about “ruining reputations” and those persons not having a day in court to defend themselves/their actions. This was the reason Trump used to fire Comey if I’m recalling correctly what the legal expert said.

Can any DL lawyers explain more about the “sealed indictments” part in all this? Were they just used as leverage to guarantee cooperation, and now will be dismissed?

Part of me wonders if Trump was really ever a target - could it be they/Mueller were really after those around him like Manafort and Flynn all along? I’m still anxious/curious to see what Mueller’s findings are.

by Anonymousreply 112March 22, 2019 10:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 118March 22, 2019 10:38 PM

Who are these "sources" that are saying there aren't more indictments? I thought Mueller's team didn't leak, so where is this info coming from?

by Anonymousreply 119March 22, 2019 10:42 PM

The whole Mueller report was never going to show anything. There wasn’t any Russian collusion to help Trump win.

People in PA, OH, WI, and MI simply didn’t vote for Hillary because she was a terrible candidate. Russians didn’t convince them of that. Her 30 year history of scandals and lying convinced them. Oh and calling these voters “deplorable” didn’t help her case either.

Anyone that was expecting the Mueller report to get Trump out of office was deluding themselves.

Democrats will have to run a better campaign with a better candidate this time around if they want Trump gone.

Collusion is really immaterial at this point, isn’t it? He’s done so much that’s unethical and beyond the pale. The media can’t let lack of collusion, if that’s the versict register as a blanket reprieve for all the shit Trump’s done.

And, that's just stupid. What is there to mock? These matters warrant investigation. Even Ray Charles blind and dead wouldn't need Stevie Wonder's help to see that Trump is corrupt. It's just a matter of gathering all of the evidence. Mueller has done amazing work in less than two years. He's gotten indictments, convictions, and people are being jailed.

What was the outcome of Benghazi?

by Anonymousreply 182March 23, 2019 12:41 AM

In the end, the elite can't really prosecute their own as it might come back to bite them. Too many of them are also operating outside the law. This is part of elite privilege and why Trump breezed through life without ever coming close to going to jail despite his many scams that would have sank a lower-income criminal.

With Nixon, the elite even made it seem a virtue that they let him off the hook. They said it was for the public good! It was for us. LOL!

President Donald Trump repeats that there is "no collusion" to Fox News' Maria Bartiromo and that people will not stand for a report about obstruction of justice. People are still going in circles trying to rationalize this saying "sealed" indictments may exist. Trump still can be indicted!

Look, Trump is three years into a term that people didn't think he'd even last a year in. It's time to focus more on 2020 and who can kick him out next year and focusing on conspiracies like Russian collusiom and if that anything to do with what happened in 2016 does us no favors. Republicans have colluded with foreign enemies to become President for years. Remember Reagan and the backchannel to the Iranians? Or Nixon and his talks with the Vietnamese? Bush and his connections to the Saudis? The American public is not going to care even if Russia helped elect Trump or if he's collecting money from the Saudis. They will care if you explain how their tax refund or salary is low because of Trump. Explain the policies and we will get him out of here.

There are investigations on-going all over the country. Fuckface von Clownstick is an unindicted Co-Conspirator in the federal illegal campaign contribution case that Cohen's going to jail for.

The state of New York (not under federal jurisdiction) has the foundation fraud/theft, other illegal campaign contribution, real estate fraud, tax evasion, money laundering and some other cases I'm forgetting. They involve Fuckface, both Fredos, kosher Barbie and Ken and the entire trump org.

by Anonymousreply 276March 23, 2019 3:39 AM

I've been saying this for two years now and I'll say it again, the only way to get Trump out of office is to vote him out in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 277March 23, 2019 3:41 AM

How does Rachel come back from this? She was this close to crying on air.

Her ego definitely took a big hit but there were always progressive voices on the left warning her about putting too many eggs in the basket of Russiagate

by Anonymousreply 278March 23, 2019 3:42 AM

You may very well be right, r277, but the shrieking and concern trolling over this report, the contents of which we have yet to see, is completely absurd. Were people thinking it would be submitted and one second later, Trump would be removed from office in handcuffs and thrown into jail, or what?

by Anonymousreply 279March 23, 2019 3:47 AM

the left leaning media like MSNBC is no better than Fox. People are too quick to believe hype and propaganda. Trump was never going to be indicted or impeached that's the fact.

by Anonymousreply 280March 23, 2019 3:48 AM

Rachel went 100% in on Russiagate and reported on nothing else for 2 years.

Turns out she was 100% wrong.

She really needs to step down. She has no credibility as a journalist, or whatever she claims to be.

by Anonymousreply 281March 23, 2019 3:49 AM

The Deplorables did, R279. Make no mistake, they're about to shit on themselves. They know that Trump is guilty as sin too. It's just a matter of time. For those of us that already know that let's keep our mani and pedi appointments so that we may be appropriate once that day comes. It is coming.

by Anonymousreply 282March 23, 2019 3:50 AM

R280 fuck you asshole. MSNBC is doing a great job covering this MR.

by Anonymousreply 283March 23, 2019 3:51 AM

Fuck these juvenile "MSNBC is exactly like Fox" posts.

Nobody ever said Trump was going to be indicted except excitable people on social media. The Twitterati are the ones who kept saying he would be perp walked, not any legitimate news outlet.

by Anonymousreply 284March 23, 2019 3:52 AM

Bill Maher was right tonight in saying that he doesn't need a Mueller report to know that Trump is a traitor.

by Anonymousreply 285March 23, 2019 3:52 AM

R284, he have 80 threads on Datalounge expecting indictment all due to that windbag Maddow's "reporting".

Her big scoops led to a major thud.

She needs to step down. Trump and his turd base will be reveling in this "win" over the fake news media all due to this bitch and her Russiagate conspiracy. She just couldn't admit she was wrong when she said Hillary had a 97% chance of winning and it was impossible Trump would win. It had to be all Russia because surely Rachel could never be wrong. She's the same person who gave people like Hillary and her team the false confidence that they would win and campaigning vigorously was perhaps not needed. Her smug political forecasting helped bring us to where we are today: Trump as president and forever emboldened

by Anonymousreply 286March 23, 2019 3:57 AM

Funny enough Maddow was featured on Drag Race last night.

by Anonymousreply 287March 23, 2019 3:58 AM

I'm still a laughing about Maddow and her big reveal about Trump's taxes.

by Anonymousreply 288March 23, 2019 3:58 AM

Came close to Geraldo's big reveal about Al Capone's vault.

by Anonymousreply 289March 23, 2019 4:00 AM

R283 what can you expect from someone (R280) who writes "media...is"?

by Anonymousreply 290March 23, 2019 4:05 AM

Alt-Right is propping up a BIG straw-man tonight. All I, as a progressive American ever wanted was for Bob Mueller to be allowed to finish his investigation unencumbered. It appears that's what has happened. I'm satisfied.

It's the right wing wackos who were worried Trump would be indicted. That's why they screamed and whined and bitched about it for two years.

It's all such a fucking joke.

by Anonymousreply 291March 23, 2019 4:08 AM

Appears as if Rosenstein was in Trump's camp all-along. Trump and his cronies managed to chase away McCabe, Comey, and a bunch of other investigators. McConnell, Lindsey, Nunes, etc. enabled the outcome. Mueller riding in as the white night to render blind justice and banishing the corruption, was never the plan.

by Anonymousreply 292March 23, 2019 4:08 AM

“Liberal years”?

by Anonymousreply 293March 23, 2019 4:13 AM

R2286, I rarely watch Maddow and don’t care much about her one way or the other, but are you unaware that we don’t yet know what is in the Mueller report and it could in fact indicate that there was collusion with Russia?

by Anonymousreply 294March 23, 2019 4:19 AM

How are people claiming it’s a win for Trump when we don’t know what’s in it??

Have I missed something?

by Anonymousreply 297March 23, 2019 4:36 AM

There's no way in hell Trump didn't know about that meeting in June '16. He is a control freak and nothing like that would escape his knowledge- esp. In his own building.

On Don Jr.'s phone was a call made to a blocked number after the meeting with the Russian emissaries, and Trump uses a blocked number.

He knew about it (probably arranged it, too) and then he lied about it- just like his son did.

Still no tweet from Trump crowing that he's been totally absolved ... perhaps he's been told that the report is not so good for him?

by Anonymousreply 301March 23, 2019 1:14 PM

Anyone who thinks that this exonerates Trump completely or that it’s over are buying inyo Trump’s spin. There is a reason that the lawyers and the WH were crowing “no collusion!” after Cohen’s testimony—it may be the only thing of which he is innocent. There is more satisfaction to a dramatic, single stroke of the sword ending things, but real life is nor usually like that. It’s usually more like death by a thousand cuts. You really think all that Russian money is clean? That all those people were lying for no reason?

Don’t let them spin this into a nothingburger—it never was. It was the first time a president was formally investigated for treason (ethically if not technically treason). There is a reason that happened.

And if Rrump was found not to have colluded, it does not change the fact that Russia still swung things through interference. We were attacked. Clinton still won the popular vote by nearly three million. Trump won through cheating by a foreign power and nothing change that FACT, not the fact that his Deutsche Bank money trail *cannot* be clean after all these years of sketchy dealings nor his flouting of national security and probable enabling of the death of Kasshogi, nor his pussy grabbing, nor his paying off porn stars, nor his scads of “executive time,” his pettiness and tantrums...get real.

by Anonymousreply 304March 23, 2019 1:35 PM

R303, so what if some people did expect him to be indicted. We all know Trump is a traitor and lick-spittle Russian toady. At least we want what's best for the country, unlike Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 305March 23, 2019 1:40 PM

Mueller report: Why so many of President Donald Trump's aides lied to protect him in Russia investigations

[quote] WASHINGTON – The first lie – the first one that was a crime, at least – came on the fourth day of Donald Trump’s presidency, in a White House office down the hall from Trump’s own.

[quote] That day, a pair of FBI agents came to question Trump’s top national security aide, Mike Flynn, about his dealings with the Russian government. Flynn gave the agents a tour of his new spot in the new administration, interrupted at one point as Trump and some movers walked past discussing where to hang art on the walls. Then Flynn took them back to his corner office and calmly lied to them about conversations with Russia’s ambassador.

by Anonymousreply 306March 23, 2019 1:56 PM

r24, that's scary also. If there isn't enough to indict him on collusion if he were no longer sitting president we all know he is an incompetent, money laundering, bribe accepting liar, trying to enrich his family on the backs of this country.

He will have to face charges from the SDNY when out of office and will be treated like the same piece of garbage he is now. No one surrounded by so many wrong doers is clean. No one that lies to cover up and obstruct justice is clean. They could never get Capone on the racketeering so we can settle for following the money to lead to his downfall.

by Anonymousreply 307March 23, 2019 2:26 PM

But R302 outside of a couple coastal bubbles I don't think most Americans care about this. And at the end of the day it's all about the will of the American people.

by Anonymousreply 308March 23, 2019 2:41 PM

Well I guess we know all these legal experts are NOT that great. Of those who were DA, I would double check all those who got a guilty conviction.

by Anonymousreply 309March 23, 2019 2:49 PM

What are you talking about R309?

by Anonymousreply 310March 23, 2019 2:50 PM

I do not think the report can have evidence that is turned over to the states or the intelligent communities. Because so much information is not within this report, it would be a read between the lines kind of report. Which will drive people nuts, really. I hope this fucker gets voted out of office. I cannot take these traitors or the republicans.

by Anonymousreply 311March 23, 2019 2:54 PM

I would love to see Trump's written answers to Mueller's questions.

by Anonymousreply 312March 23, 2019 2:56 PM

I'd nearly forgotten this report was being produced. It seems like it has been going on forever. Did it produce a bombshell that will free us from Trump's presidency? Or is it more of a dry scholarly report that says Trump is gross and ill behaved, but not criminal?

by Anonymousreply 313March 23, 2019 3:01 PM

[quote]Does anyone remember what we hoped for and wanted when Mueller was appointed? Because this doesn't seem like it.

I do and I think that it has. Just look at all of the inconsistencies and lies that have been uncovered by the Mueller investigation. This investigation busted the door open and now we have 47-50 legitimate investigations in process. I wrote this earlier: We all know that Trump is as guilty as sin. Even the Deplorables--especially the ones posting here, know that too. This is now just a process (and it's been that way for awhile now) of gathering the hard evidence.

And yes, I'll keep "milking that chicken, R327. I don't think but I KNOW that Trump and many of his minions are corrupt.

Trump Org investigation Trump inauguration investigation Tax return release

I do NOT believe that the good people who work for the Fed are going to take this shit laying down. This is OUR COUNTRY, not theirs, they can’t just take what they want and bulldoze over half the citizens in this country.

Keep focused on elections. You likely have local elections coming up, are you involved with those? Are you giving money? Are you using social media? Your main priority needs to be elections.

Second priority needs to be applying IMMENSE pressure on Dems. Show them we demand they keep going. Tell them we DEMAND accountability for breaking the law.

by Anonymousreply 330March 23, 2019 4:22 PM

I delivered the report. What more do you people want? I can't win no matter what I do

by Anonymousreply 331March 23, 2019 4:25 PM

[quote]Second priority needs to be applying IMMENSE pressure on Dems. Show them we demand they keep going. Tell them we DEMAND accountability for breaking the law.

Agreed. In my opinion, the Democrats misstep will be if they allow this to become political. One think that did not sit right with me this morning is the announcement by the media that "Democrats are having a "strategy" call in a few hours." I just didn't like how that was phrased. This is truly not about Democrats versus Republicans. It's about the nation and what direction we want to go towards.

by Anonymousreply 332March 23, 2019 4:28 PM

R331 is right. Mueller’s job was to get evidence and present a report. Nothing more. It’s not up to him what to do with it. His job is done.

People saying how disappointed they are with him are barking up the wrong tree.

by Anonymousreply 333March 23, 2019 4:33 PM

Ugh, god, now we have a concern troll saying that because he didn't like the way some media outlet phrased a meeting of Dems, we should all panic because the Dems are "making this political."

You just spin whatever you hear into "I'm just so CONCERNED about the DEMOCRATS and need to alert everyone so they can become CONCERNED too!"

Enough.

by Anonymousreply 334March 23, 2019 4:35 PM

I totally agree, R330. Investigate everything and at all levels - not just federal. Anything less will be short selling the voters. No one sent AOC to Congress to just accept the Mueller report, whatever that even is. Give us the investigations we voted for.

by Anonymousreply 335March 23, 2019 4:36 PM

Totally, R335. The people expect Democrats to play hardball. If the mid-terms were not about investigating Trump comprehensively, then what were they for?

by Anonymousreply 336March 23, 2019 4:39 PM

^^to R334, not R335

by Anonymousreply 337March 23, 2019 4:40 PM

R325- So when Trump feels vindicated, he stays silent? Never sends out a tweet saying "I told you so!"?? That's not been his pattern over the last 2 years. So either he's had a brain transplant or he's broken all his fingers on both hands.

Or....maybe that report wasn't as positive for him as he had hoped.

by Anonymousreply 338March 23, 2019 4:40 PM

And the hysteria continues.

by Anonymousreply 339March 23, 2019 4:41 PM

[quote]The people expect Democrats to play hardball

Playing hardball does not mean handing the Republicans a political narrative that they can hammer over and over and over again.

by Anonymousreply 340March 23, 2019 4:42 PM

No one read the report yet. Burr has it. He is probably reading it, making notes and turning to legal with what he can get away with.

by Anonymousreply 341March 23, 2019 4:43 PM

What narrative? It’s what the people want, R340

by Anonymousreply 342March 23, 2019 4:43 PM

Burr has it. Nothing with be leaked until more people see it from legal and security advisors.

by Anonymousreply 343March 23, 2019 4:44 PM

When Barr took over I knew that was it. And he has totally faxed a copy of the report to Mar-a-Lago; why do you think Trump rushed down there at noon?

by Anonymousreply 344March 23, 2019 4:47 PM

What is the playbook now of Burr?

If it is pretty good for trump, then release the report publicly pretty fast.

If it is bad, lock it in a safe and stall.

by Anonymousreply 345March 23, 2019 4:49 PM

Oh... that Democrats were so upset about the 2016 election that they st out from day one to destroy Trump; Democrats are angry; It's simply a war of the Republicans versus the Democrats; are just a few of the narratives.

It's none of that. THIS IS ABOUT THE COUNTRY! Trump is NOT just a Democrat issue and that's how Republicans are already trying to position this.

by Anonymousreply 346March 23, 2019 4:49 PM

Trump's next tweet will tell us all we need to know.

The bottom line is that repukes will defend this fake prez to the bitter end. It doesn't matter to them if he is an odious fool. He is giving them what they want.

1. Smaller government. By leaving slots unfilled, filling others with incompetents and spies, and letting go experienced scientists and the like, he is destroying government from within. Yeah, short term red meat for the base, but long term negative consequences for the majority of us. Less research, less competitive innovation, and we fall farther behind in expertise and excellence.

2. Lower taxes and big cuts for the wealthy, rich political allies and cronies. Good news for them, bad news for the deficit and the rest of us who will suffer from lack of infrastructure and services.

3. Elimination or rights for women, LGBT, and communities of color deemed inferior by the racist, sexist, white supremacist in the White House and his cruel cronies.

4. Threaten and bully our allies while elevating dictators and other criminals like Netanyahu. Cater to ignorant deplorables and demonize liberals. The deplorables love to bully a scapegoat and they will hate whoever trump & allies tell them to hate. They will happily take to the streets with their guns when directed.

5. Their guns are safe with him. Their hypocritical pro-life stance is safe with him. Their hate and rage is safe with him.

We are well on our way to being a third world country led by a cruel dictator who is supported by an army of ginned up fools. We can't count on the 2020 elections to stop him if they are rigged again.

The criminal investigations in the various courts must succeed, and in spite of our fears, every last person of conscience needs to vote. There are still more of us then the brainwashed cult.

by Anonymousreply 351March 23, 2019 5:03 PM

Sarah Sanders just confirmed that the White House has received the report.

by Anonymousreply 352March 23, 2019 5:13 PM

I never believed Russia hacked our election. I'm not even sure Russia hacked the DNC since the DNC still refuses to hand over its servers to the FBI for investigation.

Is Trump guilty of money laundering from Russian mobsters? Yes.

Evidence of legitimate election hacks or collusion? No.

I think we need to focus more on money laundering (something more likely to find concrete evidence for) and less on the latter since that obviously has been a bust.

by Anonymousreply 353March 23, 2019 5:15 PM

by Anonymousreply 357March 23, 2019 5:27 PM

The investigation narrative should be about Russian money laundering instead of the vague election "collusion".

What is collusion anyway? The majority of Americans wouldn't be able to tell you. Money laundering investigation is what would make Trump shake in his boots.

by Anonymousreply 365March 23, 2019 6:07 PM

I watched Rachel last night and I didn’t see her cry. What the hell are you guys talking about? Did Barr send Rachel a copy of the Mueller report before the show and Rachel got sad? Why would she cry over an unpublished report? Wtf?

She was on vacation, probably had a blast before she had to return to the studio. Rachel was laughing during her show and seemed to be in a good mood. The only thing that was off was her makeup.

As a last point, Rachel’s alleged crying will not determine if Trump gets to spend any time in jail or tell us what’s in the Mueller report.

by Anonymousreply 366March 23, 2019 6:22 PM

Rachel was visibly defeated last evening.

The nervous laughter, the teary eyes, the focus on minute details (like what time the letter was sent and what the messenger wore (a North Face Jacket).

She came off as a joke. The steam in her engine clearly ran low and she was running out of things to say.

Where does she go from here? Will she continue with the Mueller/Russiagate conspiracy she got carried away with ? Or will she finally move on and balance her show with actual news stories that showcase how Trump is not fixing our economy?

by Anonymousreply 367March 23, 2019 6:26 PM

I haven't been a fan of the direction of Rachel's show for the last two or three years. I've been watching since 2010. But I didn't see her crying, holding back tears, looking depressed, or defeated. She looked tired. That's no shock.

by Anonymousreply 368March 23, 2019 6:29 PM

R214... Right. Mueller is one piece of the investigation. It essentially went no where, at least not what many people wanted. There are other investigations still open against trump. I don't get my hopes up, though. 2016 was a tough lesson, that hit hard.

Has Maddow had a nervous breakdown yet?

by Anonymousreply 374March 23, 2019 6:36 PM

She didn't cry but she was definitely teary eyed. There's nothing Rachel hates more than being wrong.

She was wrong and overly excited about this Mueller report that she led everyone to believe would be a slam dunk. Everybody who said to not have big expectations was shut down as a Russian or Trump supporter. Chris Cuomo even said he didn't expect the report to be that eventful. Maddow was the main news anchor fluffing and hyping up the Mueller report as an imminent political catastrophe for Trump

MSNBC pundit Harry Litman has an op ed in today's WaPo which reminds us that Mueller's probe of Manafort uncovered contacts with Kalimnik, which went to "the very heart of the investigation" (as Andrew Weissmann told Judge Ellis). There is there, there.

The stupid media is catering to stupid people who want Trump exonerated.

by Anonymousreply 378March 23, 2019 6:40 PM

I watch Maddox regularly and she never promised anything in regards to the Mueller report. She has reported in detail on the suspicious activity around the Trump cabal. She also tried to gain context for what’s been going on in the multiple investigations. She’s been incredibly informative and she admits when she doesn’t know where things are going.

If you watched her show for promises of events to come, you were watching her show the wrong way.

The Trump team changed the Republican platform at the convention to fit what Russia wanted. Manafort joined the campaign for no pay even though he owed Russian oligarchs millions of dollars. Manafort sent a Russian oligarchs polling research from inside the Trump campaign, Trump welcomed Russian government officials into the Oval Office and said he fired Comey which should be good for them.

by Anonymousreply 398March 23, 2019 8:41 PM

People are focused far too much on the disappointment of Trump not going to jail. In reality, this is more like the death of a thousand cuts. Trump's every breath is fueled by loyalty and money and right now, the only loyal ones he's got are Ivanka, Jared and Don Jr. If any or all of them are charged with things like money laundering, tax evasion, financial crimes etc., then Trump might start to wish he had gone to jail.

You take away Trump's money, the Trump Org., and send Ivanka, Jared and Don Jr. into either bankruptcy or jail and that is more of an endless jail sentence for Trump than a holding cell.

Of course, the cherry on the sundae is that he can't whine at his rallies about losing all money and no one there will give a shit about Jared going to jail.

Mueller delivered his report. That is all.

Barr has not released any information about it.

The trump family faces at least 17 on going investigations.

And Adam Schiff and the house intel committee have restated they have a legal right to the report.

So, either you're a troll or very uninformed about this process.

For shits and giggles, read the CV the house, Pelosi hired as general counsel back in January.

The legislative branch of the federal government is asserting its constitutional right to have oversight of the executive branch.

Trump has more female senior advisers than last three administrations

President Trump has seven women currently serving as senior White House advisers — more than any of his three predecessors.

At the same time in their presidencies, Barack Obama had five; George W. Bush three, and Bill Clinton five.

The report, in the Washington Examiner, notes that presidents who served before Clinton appointed so few women to top jobs that Trump’s record may be higher than that of any chief executive in history.

by Anonymousreply 450March 23, 2019 11:25 PM

Very strange.... Some highlights;

[quote]While there was not a strict plan in place ahead of the report's conclusion, Trump and his Republican allies immediately launched an effort to cast the document as absolving him of wrongdoing. Talking points distributed by the Republican National Committee encouraged Trump's allies to stress that "after two years, millions of taxpayer dollars, and multiple congressional investigations confirming there was no collusion, it's good this report has finally concluded."

[quote]Trump himself had grown impatient with the waiting game, aides said, which dominated his beloved cable news for several days. As it became clear Mueller was nearing the end of his investigation, Trump appeared in a combative and sometimes foul mood. It was hard to separate the two things, and aides openly speculated his 50-tweet rage last weekend and his renewed attacks on Sen. John McCain were an attempt to counter-program the investigation's end.

[quote]Later, he appeared on stage at an fundraiser for the Palm Beach Republicans underway in the Louis XIV-style ballroom named in his honor. Trump didn't mention the Mueller report in his remarks -- but as his close ally Sen. Lindsey Graham was calling on the FBI to investigate Hillary Clinton, Trump looked on as the crowd broke into a "lock her up" chant.

It is AbsoFuckingLutely the Case that everything in Mueller's Report is laying the groundwork for Trump and his family to be prosecuted by the New York AG. He knew that his hands were tied by American History (( can't indict a sitting president), our corrupt Republican dominated Senate, the fact that the Orange turd wouldn't give two-shits about Obstruction and would Pardon his kids if they were prosecuted, and finally, the Fact that the Supreme Court itself is stacked against justice.

Mueller wouldn't have gone through all the hassle of turning, indicting, and prosecuting every dirty Trump player that he did unless he was going to use them to bring the Whole House of Cards Down.

This is why Trump isn't strutting and crowing like George Jefferson This Weekend. He knows the Game is not done.

We don’t need a report to tell us that Trump exercised the worst possible judgement when both Obama and Sally Yates warned him against hiring Mike Flynn, but he did anyway.

I had a roommate like this in college. I got tired of him doing the opposite of whatever, so I started suggesting he do the opposite of what I wanted, and it worked. by Anonymousreply 491March 24, 2019 3:29 PM

Finally?

I said this would not be a slam dunk in one of the earlier Mueller threads and like many others on here left it alone after being called Boris.

DL'ers are very smart people but for some reason most people here really believed Trump and family is on the verge of arrest and put their faith in a shakedown that was nothing more than media hype.

I live in flyover land so I know he remains very popular and will probably unfortunately win again

Maybe you should save this until we know what's in the report? Mary!

by Anonymousreply 493March 24, 2019 3:36 PM

R493, it doesn't matter if the report says he eats babies.

Half the country will still love Trump. I don't think people get how cultish his fanbase is.

Since there aren't any indictments of him or his family which is what the big catch was supposed to be, then this investigation was a waste. We know nothing more now than we did 2 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 494March 24, 2019 3:38 PM

If a blue state like New York goes after Trump, how well is that going to play out in the middle of the country?

by Anonymousreply 495March 24, 2019 3:40 PM

Last night I heard someone say “Trump is so smart” and I said no he’s an illiterate idiot. She said to have that kind of money a person has to be smart. I replied he inherited money and went bankrupt several times. She said “oh, that’s how they all do”. This is just an acquaintance and she only watches Fox and sports. That’s it. She doesn’t read and is not very intellectually curious despite having a masters in education. His base is the same as he.is. Intellectually lazy and all info is gleaned from what Fox is telling them or not telling them.

by Anonymousreply 496March 24, 2019 3:50 PM

R494, he could have issued indictments to every member of his family including little Tiffany who spends her time minding her own business and nothing would change that part of the country's mind.

As others have said it makes more sense for him to lay out what happened and have, say, NY State indict them so they can't be pardoned. Mueller wasn't the only cog in this wheel working/that worked to take him down.

It seems like many people set a lot of unrealistic expectations for what they expected to happen and a lot of those expectations were based upon the same media that got him elected when Mueller himself hasn't said anything.

Seeing that report will be the first time he truly gets to speak but if he wanted to create a "nothing burger" he could have ended it a year ago.

by Anonymousreply 497March 24, 2019 3:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 502March 24, 2019 4:10 PM

It won't look good for the Democrats if they continue to investigate Trump. His supporters will think he's being picked on, but sometimes doing what is right for the good of country is difficult and unpopular. I do hope that the Democrats will not back down no matter what kind of criticism they will undoubtedly get. Trump and his cronies are criminals, that is undisputable, and they can no longer be allowed to get away with what they are doing. I wish the Democrats and the SDNY the strength to persevere through this corrupt, evil administration and the idiocy of the brainwashed deplorables.. It will be a rough road ahead, but I still believe that good will triumph in the end.

You see, this is the problem with the average citizen, in my opinion. They have bought into the Trump myth. They see what they want to see and for many it's not so much about Republican versus Democrats. But, more about greed and envy. They see the houses, cars, beautiful clothing, etc. Many people are attracted to what they perceive to be the Trump lifestyle. It was not in SC mandate to issue indictments (other than for other crimes uncovered during investigation). All the new indictments will come from District courts. Joyce Vance writes:

We do know that prosecutors in the Southern District of New York view Trump as an all-but-unnamed-co-conspirator to campaign finance fraud. Including "Individual 1" in an indictment is not a step the DOJ would have taken without deliberate consideration. Mueller stayed carefully within his jurisdiction to investigate collusion between the campaign and Russia and did not pass judgment, as far as we know, on evidence that has surfaced regarding potential crimes including campaign finance violations, financial misconduct related to the inauguration, and insurance and bank fraud involving the president's businesses. Investigation and decisions about charging those matters are still pending in both federal and state prosecutors' offices.

More: Here's why you should have faith in Robert Mueller and the Russia investigation

So the president cannot claim he has a clean bill of health because the special counsel didn't indict him.

There is abundant evidence in the public record — and no telling what else the investigation may have uncovered that we don't know about — of bad conduct by this president. Even if Mueller concluded that the president committed no crimes (we don’t know whether that is the conclusion he reached yet or not), criminal investigations will continue in other jurisdictions. And Congress has a separate obligation to engage in oversight and determine whether the president has engaged in misconduct that, while not a violation of the criminal code, constitutes high crimes or misdemeanors.

What does all of this mean for us?

First, Barr committed, in the letter he wrote to congressional leaders, to transparency. He told them he would share the "principal conclusions" Mueller reached with them this weekend. He said he would consult with Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein to determine "what other information" from the report could be released to Congress and to the public. These are important commitments and we should hold him to them. In a matter so deeply important to the country, the public has a right to know.

Congress cannot engage in oversight without full transparency from DOJ. Congress must have access to Mueller's investigation, both the criminal side and counterintelligence assessments, to aid in its investigation. The country is entitled to no less.

But we, private citizens in this country, are also entitled to Mueller's conclusions. The attorney general should release the report, with necessary but narrow redactions, as soon as possible. We are not children, who can't be trusted with the family secrets. We are full participants in our country and we are entitled to the truth about this president and his presidency.

If Barr understands his job is to be the people’s lawyer, not the president’s, he will disclose the Mueller report publicly. But it doesn’t stop there. Each of us must read it carefully and draw our own conclusions about to its contents. We shouldn't accept the spin of a president or of pundits. This is the time to think critically about the facts – because there are facts and they still matter.

If the president claims investigation by Congress is a witch hunt because Mueller didn't indict him, we should remember that the criminal justice system and the legislative branch are assigned different responsibilities under the Constitution. If Trump twists the report’s language to delegitimize Congress' investigation, we must compare that claim to the actual findings Mueller made. And in the event significant portions of the report are not made public, we must consider what it means that Trump’s DOJ would do that.

Mueller's work may have ended. But ours has just begun.

by Anonymousreply 545March 24, 2019 7:51 PM

Much of the evidence that Mueller discovered was farmed out to New York DA, Southern District. They deal with financial and organized crimes. Mueller's Investigations was a special investigation by the FBI, looking for evidence.

Also, Trump can pardon everyone that is convicted by this federal court. IF you want to get the Trump Family and Organization, you have to go through the state DA Office.

About any impeachment, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) is not going to impeach Trump. The Republicans have the majority in the Senate. The American people have to vote the Orange Dictator out of office in 2020, since the Republican party will not check. The Republican should also be voted out of power for this.

by Anonymousreply 586March 24, 2019 10:05 PM

According to a statement by the Mueller team which I found on the other thread: "[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.” In other words, there were election interference activities by the Russian government to benefit Trump.

People looking for clear-cut evidence of conspiracy - e.g. secret meetings between Trump factotums and Russian agents in former Soviet bloc cities - are basing their expectations on Hollywood and spy novels.

The Mueller report will reveal much about Russian connections, just wait until it is read and assessed. Those sealed indictments are also of great interest.

Absolutely, r588/r589. By being "disappointed" all we are doing is allowing Trump and the Repugs to shape the "narrative", which is very risky. The message should be: "the report is extensive and thorough, no conclusions can be made until the full report is read and absorbed"

[quote]@LauraAJarrett Context as you read: am told Special Counsel Robert Mueller was not consulted on this letter. This was the product of the Attorney General Bill Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, per DOJ official.

[quote]Mueller concludes that Hillary is the sole reason why she lost the election.

There was still a Russian disinformation campaign - all Mueller says is that there's not evidence that Trump was involved in it.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler, said on Sunday his panel would call Attorney General William Barr to testify shortly, citing concerns over Barr’s conclusions from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe report.

“In light of the very concerning discrepancies and final decision making at the Justice Department following the Special Counsel report, where Mueller did not exonerate the President, we will be calling Attorney General Barr in to testify before @HouseJudiciary in the near future,” Nadler said on Twitter.

Nadler just needs to subpoena the fucking report. Drag in Barr to testify, sure, but he's just going to stonewall like he did at his confirmation hearing, so really, what's the point?

Mueller went from hot to not
