Of course he wants the person who made him do his crime also do some time. He has nothing more to lose, he will be relentless.

So. Will Trump pardon him? Hahaha.

Biden calling Pence a decent guy is receiving much criticism.

Pence has spent decades vigorously opposing LGBT rights.

It is saying stuff like this is why Biden never got the Democratic presidential nomination.

Remember Anita Hill's testimony?

by Anonymousreply 10March 1, 2019 9:57 AM

Ugh, Biden. I get that older folks in politics tend to stick up for each other (or anyone, really), but normalizing Pence is not what we need right now. Also, both men can't seriously be expecting to be the headline act in 2020 or 2024.

by Anonymousreply 11March 1, 2019 10:28 AM

Anyone see Chris Christie on Nicolle’s show? He is saying that the campaign fraud will be tough to prove if Trump uses the I was protecting Melanie defense.

@ R15, it's nice he made the effort with his hair, though. That can make all the difference.

by Anonymousreply 18March 1, 2019 12:00 PM

Christie is all over the talk shows, probably because he's one of the few Republicans willing to talk about Trump outside of the Fox network. He told Cuomo that Trump lies about things he doesn't need to lie about, and he has to assume that the Times story about Jared's clearance is true because neither the White House nor Jared's lawyer are denying it.

R12 What a ridiculous argument. Mel is irrelevant to the crime. This was not a case of blackmail to reveal an old affair to the spouse. The real damage to Trump would be the revelation of the affair to the voters! The campaign crime is in not disclosing the money used to cover up the affair in order to benefit the campaign, i.e. save it from a publicity disaster.

This is from last summer. David Koch is purported to be ill, and is alleged to be in conflict with his 83 yo brother, Charles It did not impede them from again giving hefty donations to GOP candidates in 2018.

They shy away from public scrutiny, as do the father-daughter Mercer duo.

by Anonymousreply 35March 1, 2019 4:13 PM

THe Kochs have been at this for a long time. They have been the money and the influence behind members of Congress and GOP Presidential candidates for ages. They even had their former political director working from an office of his own inside the Trump White House. He may still be there. They're ideologically rigid extremists but they're practical and realistic. (Most extremists are not practical or realistic.) They're far more focused on Congress then on the Oval. They consider Presidents to be puppets in most cases. At least the Republicans. They have a long history of hating Trump. Think he's a clown and an asshole. But hey, he's POTUS now. The way they feel about the Executive, he and George W. Bush are the perfect kind of Presidents. The thing is the Kochs have set up an organization that will last long after they're gone. They are small government no regulations guys. The Mercers are nuts. They're all caught up with Breitbart news, Steve Bannon, and white supremacy. Not saying the Kochs aren't evil, because they are. So are the Mercers. I just don't know whether the Mercers are "built to last." but I know the Koch's organization is. THe only way we stop all of them is by getting the money out of politics and tightening regulations on non profits and superpacs.

I would agree with R36. They're all evil, but the Mercers aren't built to last. The interesting thing will be what happens with the younger Kochs, I believe there are a number.

R537 (from previous thread) Yes. I caught that. Trump really is a puppet and can be lead into saying anything. Hannity really made Trump to look like an idiot. I love how Lawrence O'Donnell picks up on things that other people miss. Hopefully, that clip that Lawrence played on his show will be an important piece of evidence against both Trump and Hannity. Sometimes it's the little things.

by Anonymousreply 42March 1, 2019 4:50 PM

R15. It’s funny how much a full head of hair makes you look so much younger. Without it, SA would look like death on a stick.

by Anonymousreply 43March 1, 2019 4:53 PM

Hannity is so fucking smug and blatantly lied that that Cohen issued the checks. Hannity ‘s giant head is so far up Trump’s ass it’s unreal

by Anonymousreply 44March 1, 2019 4:54 PM

Wouldn't it be great if all the indictments happened today?

by Anonymousreply 45March 1, 2019 4:55 PM

What clip did Lawrence show, r42?

by Anonymousreply 46March 1, 2019 4:56 PM

A House Committee needs to call Hannity in and ask him to answer some probing questions, perhaps the financial types. Cohen was not asked about this because it was beyond pre-established parameters for the hearing, and whatever attorney-client privilege may have been between Cohen and Hannity. Also, if there are any indicators of collaboration between DJT & SH for any alleged purpose of obstruction, is a pertinent question due to the immense dialogue involved; and if coordinated Fox messaging was undertaken from such communication. Call Rupert Murdoch & Fox executives in for inquiry. Whether Mueller has investigated whether or not there is a Hannity connection, is unclear. Maybe the SDNY is doing such.

by Anonymousreply 47March 1, 2019 5:35 PM

Talking Points Memo notes Mueller needs no more than 8 days in court to convict Stone, perhaps as few as 5.

Hot diggity! We gonna have us a fair, quick barroom trial, followed by a necktie party!! Yeehaw!

by Anonymousreply 48March 1, 2019 5:38 PM

R12, I saw Christie on Nicolle's show yesterday. Their dynamic was interesting. It was obvious that Christie was pretending he wasn't trying to minimize Trump's illegal behavior, which he was. Nicolle clearly wasn't having it either, even though she tried hard to be courteous to him.

by Anonymousreply 49March 1, 2019 5:41 PM

It's really hard not to get impatient with the Media and with Congress. It seems like there's no sense of urgency or proper weight given to what is going on. Every day we get more revelations. Big ones. National Security is compromised. Secrets are sold, Trump's a threat, Jared's a threat, they're all crooks, they lied, and misled, and conspired with a foreign adversary, and we have the former acting director of the FBI who opened a counter intelligence investigation claiming on live TV he believes Trump is a Russian asset!

Any minute I expect federal marshals to walk into the WH with Mueller and put all those fuckers in handcuffs and a platoon of marshals goes over to the Hill and arrests about 20 members of Congress (both houses) and instead the reporters present another panel discussion, and a few politicians are going to summon people to another hearing, and etc.etc.etc.

When the FUCK will they have enough evidence, enough justification to throw these fuckers off the roof of the WH or the Capitol dome? Swear to God if Trump or any member of his family were standing in front of me right now, I would fucking kick their asses until their noses bled. I would crucify those fuckers and slice their dicks off. Don't get me started...

by Anonymousreply 54March 1, 2019 6:38 PM

Thanks, r53!

by Anonymousreply 55March 1, 2019 6:54 PM

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but when I was on YOUTUBE, my videos kept getting interrupted by TRUMP campaign donation ads. And, I was watching Bill Maher and Stephen Colbert.

Has this happened to anyone else?

by Anonymousreply 56March 1, 2019 6:57 PM

Any person other than Trump, just doing one or two of these illicit things Trump has done, would have been impeached and indicted last year.

Trump is a cult leader of at least a third of the electorate. Much of the media is either enabling him, or treating it as entertainment. Trump has one cable TV network running propaganda for him almost 24/7.. Republicans in Congress place party over country, and are dismissive of crimes that are inconsistent with such priority.

Bad times, indeed.

by Anonymousreply 57March 1, 2019 7:11 PM

Did we already talk about how William Barr's son-in-law left his post to join Drumpf's counsel ON THE RUSSIA PROBE.

But apparently these conflicts of interests don't matter?

by Anonymousreply 58March 1, 2019 7:18 PM

r58, IOKIYAR, don't you know that?

I might have those letters wrong.

by Anonymousreply 59March 1, 2019 7:40 PM

They have enough evidence but I think they truly don’t know what to do. So we have widespread apathy. We are not a country where the citizens march in the streets demanding justice. No blood has been shed due to this. It’s not like the 1960’s when there were protests regarding Vietnam.

It’s a slow death from what we were in the world. Putin is winning and not enough care.

by Anonymousreply 60March 1, 2019 7:56 PM
Putin is winning and not enough care.

It's not as simple as that -- 40-50% of our population reject that premise out of hand. They believe Trump is doing a good job. Many of those believe he's doing a great job.

It's not that people don't care, it's that so many people are blithering idiots.

by Anonymousreply 61March 1, 2019 8:02 PM

Sorry r61, NO WAY is there anywhere near 50% who agree with Trump in this country. If I believed that, I would just give up.

by Anonymousreply 62March 1, 2019 8:05 PM

Fat Donnie only has about 30% of the country as hard core cultists.

The rest are just people who aren't paying attention for whatever reason.

I get that everyone is angry because it seems things are moving so slowly. We all want to see these traitors horsewhipped then drawn and quartered.

Just remember that those snot nosed heats haven't been subpoenaed by Mueller because you speak to targets last.

Chinless jr is going to be indicted for lying to Congress. Full stop. Even he knows this. It will happen sooner rather than later.

Treason Barbie and her limp noodle husband are in this up to their eyeballs. They aren't going to skate.

Just because we don't see stuff happening doesn't mean shit isn't going down behind the scenes. We gets bits and pieces of it but we won't know the whole story for a while.

by Anonymousreply 63March 1, 2019 8:13 PM

R56, I saw my first one yesterday. I thought I had stumbled on some right wing video but it was a Joe Biden video I was watching.

by Anonymousreply 64March 1, 2019 8:15 PM

You do have a point r61, during the leadup to the election, many comments across the web supporting Trump were about how Putin was open to forging a relationship with the US and how backward and stuck in the past the naysayers were not to discount Trump’s relationships with Russian ogliaches. How many were Russian trolls, I don’t know but it was a prevalent meme across the web. His supporters sucked it up and owned it as their truth.

We may remove these mobsters from the White House, but we still have the mindset of his followers to contend with. And they are totally okay with sucking up and granting power to tyrants.

by Anonymousreply 65March 1, 2019 8:18 PM

R65, once the mobsters are removed the followers will be rendered as insignificant as they were before 2016. And who will give a fuck what THEY think about tyrants? They won’t have any path go sucking up or granting power to tyrants, anyway.

by Anonymousreply 66March 1, 2019 8:23 PM

I don't think these cult members will just go away or be ignored. Things are different now with social media and the Internet. Every single day they read and post shit that gets them rowled up. Plus, they've had a taste of power. No doubt we need cheeto out, and the whole dumpster of them, but it will not just end there. We will need to continue to fight.

by Anonymousreply 67March 1, 2019 8:30 PM

R67, yes, we will continue to fight but as each year passes they will be significantly outnumbered.

by Anonymousreply 68March 1, 2019 8:32 PM

We have a president who is best friends with the likes of PUTIN and Kim Jung Un; think about that.

We are living in the mother fuckin' TWILIGHT ZONE!!!!

I have heard that Fox once defended itself in some law suit for not reporting accurate info, or even slanderous info, by claiming not to be a news network. They claimed to be an entertainment network instead. Did I hear correctly?

If so, then why can’t Hannity be forced to testify? He would have no Constitutional protection, based on their own declaration. He’s full of shit, I’d like to hear him under oath being asked about Trump’s, and his, knowledge and actions.

by Anonymousreply 81March 1, 2019 10:57 PM

Now everyone knows what that deplorable 30% wants. If Trump was to be assassinated, whoever managed to be next to him and "hear his last whispers" would gain close to 50% approval just for being there. Even if it was Don Jr. You think I'm kidding? You don't know straight white people.

by Anonymousreply 82March 1, 2019 10:58 PM

Of course. It's symbolic of his whole life and that is exactly what he has always had (and why he has always gotten away with it). It's a disgrace that it had to come to this but I digress. He can't write a dirty check to Nancy and make her sign something to shut up. Someone as narcassitic as him is probably more angry that he's not getting his way rather than worrying about what this may mean for him. I would bet he is confident this will eventually go away and is in total denial. Anyone else planning a party, no matter what time or day of the week it is, when shit finally 100% goes down?

Maybe it's just me, but I noticed a particular lightness in the way the reporters were covering all the bad news, and the way the Democratic House members were reacting to it. It's like they know something we don't and it's happy news. So I'm optimistic.

Of course I'm also reading Andrew McCabe's book. He worked under and reported directly to Mueller. Mueller doesn't waste time, he's not a bullshitter, he is tough as nails and he wants results! While it can get very wearing to watch Congress having hearings, I have hope and confidence that Mueller will bring down the hammer.

There is a wealth of information out here Cohen has already given to Mueller and to the SDNY, and it's not about to get buried. It might even be that some politicians want to bury the fact Russia fucked up the 2016 election, but they're happy to nail Trump and family on bank fraud and other crimes that don't necessarily involve Putin.

Joyce Vance did point out that as long as the FBI holds on to the policy of not indicting a sitting POTUS Trump will be safer as President than he ever will once he is no longer President. In office, he's protected. Or so he believes.

But right now, these hearings are the theater we need to start preparing the public. Nancy Pelosi 's policy right now is "we have to have hearings, we have to have facts, we need the Mueller report. We are not discussing impeachment."

Now Trump's people want to raise impeachment. IMO they want to make this look like a coup by the Dems, hoping Trump will declare another emergency. But I really don't think Pelosi will be outplayed. the Democrats are ready for him.

They will set the stage with these hearings and a treasure trove of facts that leave no doubt of wrongdoing.

Again, posters, you have no idea what your insights mean to me. I can't watch the news, its all too awful. So your insights and the links you provide help me contain my anxiety about all of this.

DOJ says in a new court filing that there are still some portions of James Comey’s memos whose disclosure would “interfere with the pending investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.”

An FBI official said in a declaration dated yesterday that some of its reasons for wanting the information to remain secret must also be kept secret, because they would reveal "the focus and scope" of Mueller's probe and "if disclosed now" might harm that investigation.

In case it wasn't posted:

The depositions given by former British spy Christopher Steele and a longtime associate of John McCain must be unsealed, a federal judge said Thursday.

U.S. District Court Judge Ursula Ungaro overruled the objections of both Steele and David Kramer to make the depositions public. The pair gave testimony in a lawsuit brought against BuzzFeed in December 2018 by a Russian Internet entrepreneur.

The businessman, Aleksej Gubarev, was referenced in the infamous dossier compiled by Steele about President Trump’s alleged connections to Russia. Gubarev objected to BuzzFeed’s publishing of the dossier in January 2017, which accused him of using his companies to hack into computers owned by the Democratic National Committee.

The depositions could be released as soon as March 14.

Ungaro dismissed the libel suit brought by Gubarev in December, ruling that the publishing of the dossier was protected by the fair report privilege.

I am terrified that Sean Hannity will convince Trump to pull an "Only Nixon Could Go to China" and have him make a state visit to Pyongyang. by Anonymousreply 151March 2, 2019 7:37 PM

People like Trump are compulsive fuckups. It might have been all right if the Republicans had taken control of him at the outset, taken away his unsecured phones and told him "You will not deviate from the script, ever, you will not take any meetings or communicate with anyone without your handlers present," which is how they managed to cover for eight years for an Alzheimers patient (Reagan) and then a "recovering" drug addict (Bush Jr.) But someone somewhere said "He's a reality show star, let's make this the Reality Show Presidency!" and let him just go do his thing. It's a fact that a substantial segment of the public and Republican infrastructure really are loving his antics and want to keep him going as long as they can. However, this is just setting him up to fuck up again and again and again in plain sight of everybody.

by Anonymousreply 152March 2, 2019 7:45 PM

I think for Trump, “support free speech” = “let’s violate the First Amendment.”

The problem with saying, "Why aren't the Democrats reacting to this the way the Repugs would if the situation was reversed?" is that the Democrats follow the law. It's really hard to lawfully fight a group of lawless lawmakers.

1) Pull the plug on FOX News and eliminate the steady stream of misinformation and hate. Arrest Hannity. Banish Murdoch and seize any American holdings or interests. Fine Fox into the ground for allowing an entertainment program to have the misleading term NEWS as its title. Restore the FCC Fairness Doctrine.

2) Incarcerate the traitors in congress and suspend/redistribute their states’ electoral votes.

3) Broadcast Trump’s financial past failures, law-breaking and lies along with irrefutable proof on a daily basis.

4) Create and pass legislation that keep Church, State AND Corporations separate. Overturn whatever statute claiming corporations are a person having the same rights as an individual citizen.

5) Pass laws that distinguish between Free Speech and HateSpeak and establish guidelines for enforcing those laws. HateSpeak, or any other public calling for the marginalization of any person or entity, is not to be protected as it shall be acknowledged as being no different than falsely shouting ‘Fire’ in a crowded cinema. The intent is to strike fear, cause confusion and panic and is tantamount to terrorism.

Then wrangle, try, convict and execute the perpetrators and co-conspirators of Putin’s attempted highjacking of the USA.

by Anonymousreply 165March 3, 2019 12:58 AM

I know the attention this week has been on Cohen's exposes of the Trump Org and Jared.

But as some analyst type pointed out on Twitter this week, the thing that Trumpito will ultimately get nailed for is espionage.

Trump's people met with Kislyak (at that point the Russian "ambassador") in late 2016. 12 Russians were killed/disappeared immediately after that meeting, all people with government and/or military connections. Putin killed off US intelligence assets based on info Trump gave him.

They've been selling US intelligence to the highest bidder for the past two years - to Russia, to Saudi Arabia, to whoever has the money. Treason is a loaded word, but there's no other way to describe it.

by Anonymousreply 166March 3, 2019 2:59 AM

by Anonymousreply 169March 3, 2019 4:17 AM

I think Don JR. Jared and Ivanka might have to testify before congress before they're indicted but they won't say anything to the congressional committees. They will claim executive privilege. Then they will face contemp of congress. That could throw the whole congressional committee investigation into turmoil when people start refusing to testify.

by Anonymousreply 170March 3, 2019 4:19 AM

I don't know, r170. If Ivanka is faced with the prospect of going to prison along with Jared, the prospect of leaving their children parentless, with relatives having to raise them, might move her to give up the goods. The love a mother has for her children (if that mother is at least somewhat normal emotionally) is one of the most powerful forces on earth. I think she would choose the kids (even though she seems emotionally shallow) over a father who's been molesting her for most (if not all, of her life.

by Anonymousreply 171March 3, 2019 4:34 AM

Please, Ivanka will claim she's doing it for the children, but she's no fool and goes to prison for her dad. The whole family probably talked to Mueller and told him about the criminal humiliating shit they had to go through all of their lives to please daddy.

The statement is - of course - entirely tone deaf, crass, selfish, and devoid of a shred of perspective. Akin to Melania's painted jacket. Have to hand it to the Trumps though: every day a fresh new grotesquerie. The gift which keeps on grasping.

Jim Jordan was on one of the networks pushing the line, that since Comey was never in Prague, the whole Steele Dossier is false. Other Republicans are repeating the same.

The other lie being pushed is that Comey's job was Trump's real estate attorney, and he violated his professional boundaries and had no assignment to pay-off women to keep quiet about alleged past sexual affairs with Trump. They claim Comey violated his boundaries and paid-off Stormy on his own without Trump knowing.

Both lies defy substantial evidence to the contrary.

Rand Paul is the fourth Republican Senator to declare his opposition to Trump's declaration for emergency funding of the border wall.

This means the bill opposing the emergency declaration will also pass the Senate. Thus, Trump is expected to use the veto Still, it is good Congress is on record rejecting it

Wouldn't it be something... His first veto is for Congress telling him he can't build the wall. It's after the midterm election wherein the country said they didn't want a wall and weren't afraid of his bullshit caravan lies. It's after he couldn't get Mexico to pay for it. And it's after he had control of all three branches of government for two years.

So he's been rebuked by everyone... and his first veto is going to be "fuck you, I'm doing it my way."

Good luck, there, Donnie boy.

The Declaration of a state of Emergency by the President is a very serious threat. Congress is incharge of appropriating funds. When Congress denied his request for funds to build his wall,-- and after he shut down the fucking government for 35 days, and the TSA workers, for one example, have not yet received their back pay -- he decided to bypass Congress and declare an emergency where there is no emergency, so he could seize the funds from various Defense and Homeland Security related programs.

So he is acting in violation of the Constitution. It's not about the Wall. It's about power, and bypassing Congress. This really should not even enter the realm of partisan politics. This is about the separation of powers and the U.S. Constitution. No rational member of the Senate or the House should support him on this. They should all vote resoundingly, unanimously NO. That is they should support the resolution to rescind the State of Emergency.

If you watched his performance, especially after Cohen testified, he is more unhinged than ever. Not a figure of speech I'm talking literally unhinged. His performance at CPAC should have scared the crap out of everyone. And his tweets and rants since then have become more extreme. He is becoming very dangerous. They better move on his ass.

Benjamin Netanyahu: “It was while living in New York during the 1980s that Netanyahu became friends with Fred Trump, the father of Donald Trump.

Michael Cohen’s uncle Morton Levine’s social club was the headquarters of Russian organized crime in the U.S.”

Real estate has long been a convenient place for Russian gangsters to launder ill-gotten gains, and Trump’s projects were well known as places to park money with few questions asked.”

That's a very interesting insight into the Fox News phenomenon and mindset. On the launching of the network:

Blair Levin, at that time the chief of staff at the F.C.C. and now a fellow at the Brookings Institution, says, “Fox’s great insight wasn’t necessarily that there was a great desire for a conservative point of view.” More erudite conservatives, he says, such as William F. Buckley, Jr., and Bill Kristol, couldn’t have succeeded as Fox has. Levin observes, [bold]“The genius was seeing that there’s an attraction to fear-based, anger-based politics that has to do with class and race.”[/bold]

Kevin McCarthy is not so bright Get him off the prepared talking points for him, he fumbles.

by Anonymousreply 242March 4, 2019 2:05 PM

Exactly, R241. And Roger Ailes, who created Fox News, cut his teeth on how to exploit that in the Nixon White House. What is even more important is the role Murdoch, personally, has played. And Bill Shine, the WH Communications director, was a Roger Ailes protege who worked at Fox for years, and navigated through all the sexual harassment cases filed against Fox. We're dealing with a real criminal element here in the US that is linked directly to the KRemlin, and has taken occupancy of our White House using a puppet like Trump.

What we can do is get Republican Senators on board with revoking the state of emergency, and then use that momentum to insist that either McConnell get on the Impeach and Convict Bus, or he bow out for new leadership. When some of the Republicans say they're afraid of Trump's base,, I think they fear a real possibility of physical violence and we need to roll up the people making those threats if it's true. We've been through worse. We've had riots, mass demonstrations and general disruptions, and they weren't always benign. Police firing tear gas into demonstrators, and national guard actually gunning down college students, etc. so we can survive this.

It won't be long until some Repug will primary Bone Spurs. I can already see Mitt Romney's hands at work in the Senate. There is no way that all the Repugs will go down with the Trumptanic in 2020. We just need a few more public hearings to get there.

by Anonymousreply 247March 4, 2019 2:15 PM

I'm telling you. This vote in the Senate on the Emergency declaration is critical. It's not enough to get 51 or however many to vote to rescind the emergency declaration. We need to get to 67. That's how many votes we need to override his veto. And that is also how many we need to convict him once he's impeached. So if we can muster enough Senate votes to override a veto it will send him a message. It will tell him his Presidency is at risk.

The problem is, he believes being President protects him from criminal indictment. So his biographers and the Legal experts are now saying he may try anything to stay in office. And he will not wait until something happens he will attempt to do it preemptively. So if he vetoes Congress's attempt to revoke the emergency declaration and his veto prevails, he will become emboldened to do even more. We need 67 votes. We need to be pressuring McConnell. He needs to do what is necessary or he needs to step down. Personally, I wish Mueller would indict him with Obstruction or accessory after the fact, and force him to step down. I believe if just a couple of members of Congress get busted by Mueller, the rest would cave in, in terror.

R250, You're right, we may not get to 67 votes in the Senate. But we have to try. If the resolution barely squeaks by with 51, it sends a bad signal. But if we get as many as 56 it looks a lot better. We have 45 Democratic Senators and I think two others who votes with us most of the time. I'd like to see us gain at least 8-10 Republicans for this emergency declaration thing. The issue isn't complicated. No President can bypass Congress simply because they deny him funds. Hell. Truman was in the middle of the Korean Conflict when the steelworkers were getting ready to go on strike. When Congress told Truman he could not stop the strike with an emergency declaration, he did it anyway. The Supreme Court told him he was wrong. What's happening at our borders is hardly comparable.

by Anonymousreply 254March 4, 2019 2:56 PM

Just here to say Russian cyber war is very real. They've used it in Georgia, Ukraine, UK, France, Canada, the US. The Gerasimov doctrine partly explains it. We have been at war with Russia for several years. The republicans have in fact betrayed this country.

13 Russian military people have been indicted, at least.

Is it horrible of me to hope for a wave of suicides among compromised political figures when—or just before—the real dirt starts coming out? Nothing would make it clearer that the treason and the danger are very real, especially when the utterly shameless ones like Trump and his fam will never admit to anything. I don't like to wish anything so awful on anyone, but betraying their country for money and power makes them scumbags anyway.

by Anonymousreply 303March 4, 2019 10:25 PM

by Anonymousreply 315March 5, 2019 12:21 AM

I worry about the Democratic strategy. They're saying they're going to investigate and hold hearings and let the American people fully understand all the criminality or the impeachable conduct, and they're hoping to sway public opinion. But IMO, the public knows Trump. Nothing he does or says surprises people. They feel like he's been around for years. Then there a re some "experts" who are worried about violence and insurrection if they try to impeach him. IMO I think if we beat him or it looks like he will lose the election I predict violence at the voting precincts, and voter intimidation. Look either way his supporters will bepissed, but fuck them. Half of them will be hopped up on meth to even be coherent and the rest will be too drunk to show up.

by Anonymousreply 316March 5, 2019 12:28 AM

So call over to Nadler's office and ask if you can send them food or donate coffee, or yoga sessions, or a Costco membership so they can get deli trays for the masses.

by Anonymousreply 334March 5, 2019 3:17 AM

I’m really pissed Trump is saying his “Russia if you’re listening”, so-called joke was said in the midst of a wild rally in front of tens of thousands of people all screaming and laughing and having a great time. That is not at all the venue where he said it, and the audience was members of the press, not Deplorables. For Christ’s sake, the video is easily found on YouTube. And more journalists need to point that out. I’m glad that MSNBC keeps replaying the whole thing and Katy Tur’s direct questioning of him after he said it. But earlier tonight on Lawrence O’s show, he didn’t point out Trump’s lie about the venue and its audience.

by Anonymousreply 335March 5, 2019 3:17 AM

Exactly the reason I don’t trust Bernie Sanders, R341, who like Trump still has not released his or his wife’s tax returns (Sanders released a “summary” of part of 2014). Sanders then had the audacity to say that he would have released his returns had he been the nominee, basically saying that the voters should have voted for him first on blind faith.

Update: Sanders still has not released his tax returns.

by Anonymousreply 343March 5, 2019 6:44 AM

Interesting that Nadler asked for documents from the Peter Smith estate. Smith was a GOP operative who was trying to get Hillary's emails from the Russias. He committed suicide shortly after his involvement was reported in a newspaper article that he actually was interviewed for. I've always said there were three things that didn't make any sense 1) Peter Smith. I think the Russians may have had a hand in the "suicide." 2) Ivanka and Jared's ill-timed vacation to Dubrovnik with Wendi Deng. Something was exchanging hands here. 3) Michael Cohen's non-trip to Prague. Maybe he didn't go but I think his phones may have.

by Anonymousreply 349March 5, 2019 2:03 PM

Well, if Rand Paul's projections are correct he believes they will get 10 or 12 GOP Senators to vote with the Dems. He's claiming we might even get more than 60 Senators. I think we need to try for 67 anyway.

We have to keep the pressure on them. After all it's in their own interests. Trump bypassed Congress and his actions are unconstitutional. So that gets real simple. Nothing complex there.

Claiming they're "scared of Trump " is bullshit. I hate Trump with the passion of a million suns. But if I were trying to talk to my constituents, I'd be like, "Hey, I love the guy and I have supported him. You can love someone but when they get it wrong they get it wrong. Nobody's right 100% of the time."

Former officials of the military academy where Trump went to high school say that wealthy alumni directed them to retrieve, remove and hide Trump's academic records. The request came in 2011, days after Trump challenged Obama to "show his records."

The WaPo story linked in Kyle Griffins n's tweet is a hoot:

"In 2011, days after Donald Trump challenged President Barack Obama to “show his records” to prove that he hadn’t been a “terrible student,” the headmaster at New York Military Academy got an order from his boss: Find Trump’s academic records and help bury them. The superintendent of the private school “came to me in a panic because he had been accosted by prominent, wealthy alumni of the school who were Mr. Trump’s friends” and who wanted to keep his records secret, recalled Evan Jones, the headmaster at the time. “He said, ‘You need to go grab that record and deliver it to me because I need to deliver it to them.’ ”

What they *could* do is keep Trumpito balls-deep in Congressional investigations for two years, with all information released to the public.

Make that corpse stink so fucking bad that the GOP would be lucky to get anybody other than the 33% Trumpenproletariat base to vote for them.

I trust the current Dem leadership in the House to handle this with great care. They know what's at stake.

by Anonymousreply 416March 6, 2019 1:52 AM

The Trump liars and con artist should be shouted down everywhere they go...no one should accept any of them. They are well hated and they should be told.

by Anonymousreply 418March 6, 2019 1:59 AM

Congress will investigate as needed and if they find that he has done the impeachable...they have to do what is right.

by Anonymousreply 419March 6, 2019 2:01 AM

If he committed the crime, they will impeach. And he did so they will. Fuck what the Senate does. Let those treasonous assholes vote not to remove a known Russian asset. FUCK THEM.

by Anonymousreply 420March 6, 2019 2:05 AM

So much hell is coming down on Trump but he still doesn't know it. The only way it might touch him is if one of his kids is indicted but even then, he will probably feel nothing.

by Anonymousreply 421March 6, 2019 2:05 AM

Mind you, I'm a founding member of the "ITMFA" club (impeach the motherfucker already). But i still suspect that cutting a deal could be a more possible scenario.

Say, they threaten to throw Eric, Don and Ivanka in prison for life, while dissolving the Trump Org.

If he resigns, we keep the kids out of prison.

That kind of thing. How they got Angew out of the WH. (see "Bagman")

by Anonymousreply 422March 6, 2019 2:11 AM

r422, And Trump gets away with all his crimes scott free?

FUCK THAT.

by Anonymousreply 423March 6, 2019 2:13 AM

Obama graduated Harvard with honors, dummy Trump did not. All of Trumps blowing and bluster just makes him look like a fool.

He is already the most despised man in the world.

by Anonymousreply 424March 6, 2019 2:13 AM

North Korea’s rebuilding test missile sites. Which makes Trump look like an even bigger loser. I wonder when we’ll start hearing the words “fire and fury” again.

by Anonymousreply 425March 6, 2019 2:13 AM

R420, that's exactly what the Repugs want. Trump is practically begging for them to go forward with impeachment. If it's right before the election, he wins. There is zero chance the Repugs in the Senate will convict. Zero. Impeachment would be a gift to the Repug party. We need to vote his ass out and make sure that he is either indicted or named an unindicted co-conspirator, so he can fuck himself with his pardon pen.

by Anonymousreply 426March 6, 2019 2:14 AM

Trump is a traitor to our democracy, he should be hung by his neck until dead.

by Anonymousreply 427March 6, 2019 2:15 AM

Trust me, R423. I feel your anger. I'm not talking about what I want. I'm talking about what could quite possibly save American democracy.

Agnew was literally taking bags of cash for favors in the WH. The prosecutors wanted to nail him *badly*, and they had the evidence to do so. But the senior prosecutors in 1973 believed that Nixon was on the verge of being tossed out of office, and they knew they couldn't let an blatant criminal like Agnew rise to the presidency.

So they cut a deal - dropped all charges in exchange for Agnew's immediate resignation. Because their primary concern was preserving the peaceful continuity of the US government.

by Anonymousreply 428March 6, 2019 2:19 AM

Republicans are slime at the bottom of the sewer, we have laws, we have rules and you can preach it anyway you want but we need to follow the laws. So far all the political fears have not served us well. This president needs to be put down by strong people who are not twisting and turning because of SLIME. The law should be followed.

by Anonymousreply 429March 6, 2019 2:21 AM

R429, you'd be surprised how many laws Congress has made themselves exempt from following.

by Anonymousreply 430March 6, 2019 2:31 AM
This president needs to be put down by strong people who are not twisting and turning because of SLIME. The law should be followed.

And precisely what majority coalition in Congress will be prosecuting Trumpito, pray tell?

The GOP Congress has refused to defy numb nuts on, well, everything for two years. At what magic moment do they flip?

Granted. If the Mueller report all goes public, and it's radioactive enough, public opinion could turn enough that the public pressures Congress into impeachment proceedings.

Maybe. Possibly. A lot of crazy shit could happen between now and January 2021.

by Anonymousreply 431March 6, 2019 2:34 AM

Right now I'm thrilled that investigations are going forward. An impeachment effort will kind of distract from the many investigations. I want to know the truth -- not just a limited selection of violations on which we'd base a case for impeachment.

I think the 24 hour news cycle and social media have changed the world since Agnew's days. I'm don't think the scenario where he was forced to resign for "illegal tax practices" would play out today. I personally will not be backing any democratic "Unifier" candidates. I'm afraid that Biden might pardon the whole lot of them for the "sake of democracy." Republicans were ready to throw Clinton out of the White House because he got a little head on the side and they basically prosecuted him AND Hillary for the next twenty years. We need the truth in what really happened to the 2016 election. Warts and all. Too bad if it reveals intelligence processes. The truth is more important than our spying methodologies. We can find new ways to spy. We need to hold all accountable including Republicans who I believe took massive amounts of Russian money through the NRA. Time is over for playing nice. Republicans don't do it so why should we. At least if we play dirty, it's not to make the rich richer but rather its to get universal health care, pay equity, equal rights, etc. We have good on our side.

The Commerce Department said Wednesday that -- despite more than two years of President Trump’s “America First” policies -- the United States last year posted a $891.2 billion merchandise trade deficit, the largest in the nation’s 243-year history.

The president thus begins his reelection drive with a core campaign promise unfulfilled — and with a recent flurry of economic research showing that his embrace of tariffs is damaging the U.S. economy.

by Anonymousreply 456March 6, 2019 2:49 PM

Absolutely, R456. Democrats have to play DIRTY. While Republicans are flailing with post-birth, take-home abortions and socialism, Democrats need to remind Republican voters that Trump has driven us into another recession (yes it’s coming this year or next) and used their political power to enrich themselves and their coconspirators in Russia and Saudi Arabia. They should also make it perfectly clear that Trump has given Kim Jong Un more power and sided with him and other strongmen foreign leaders when they’ve murdered people including American citizens.

It is DISGUSTING and every American, even the stupidest among us, should be able to understand it.

by Anonymousreply 457March 6, 2019 2:53 PM

Tlaib is needlessly adding pressure and contributing to potential popular backlash. Investigations are just starting. Does she know what happened to the GOP as a result of the Clinton impeachment?

Just ... fucking keep your head down, work hard, gain expertise, and build relationships. Now isn't the time to grandstand and demand something that's not possible at the moment. It's not even framing the debate in a new way (cf. introduction of guidelines for a Green New Deal), as we already know there's some demand for impeachment to start now.

Her Cohen grandstanding wasn't useful, either, in that it contributed nothing towards justifying/substantiating lines of further inquiry (cf. AOC), and makes her a target of the GOP and a boogeyman they can keep highlighting.

AOC, Omar, and some other young, less experienced politicians, grew up with social media. Coupled with more youthful enthusiasm and less inhibitions to express their real beliefs, their messaging frequently disrupts the norms and generates blowback from those that are not in their orbit of supporters.

While I don't agree with some of what they say, let them speak. They will become more measured in due time and gain more wisdom. These impulsive censoring-type resolutions are not a good thing.if done solely on political views and appeasement; but are not based on communications by an individual that don't contain threats, defamation, overt hatred, and character assassinations, on the left or the right.

Congress sure isn't target-censoring DJT for some of the shit he says.

by Anonymousreply 465March 6, 2019 3:30 PM

Here's the thing. Omar and Tlaib are playing to a particular constituency. I almost have to wonder what kind of external pressure they're under to continue to bang the religious drum.

AOC is learning that she has to start serving her constituents by delivering. It takes work not mouthing off. The new members are not all getting noticed. Some of them are listening and learning. They're outspoken, yes, but they know they have to deliver.

Omar's constituents and Tlaib's deserve more than grandstanding on a single issue. They're going to have to bump their heads a little before they realize they're ineffective doing it the way they've been doing it.

I study history. Years ago, when there were very few, maybe only two or three Black members of Congress, they had to represent. They were not just members of Congress from their home districts, they were representing African American aspirations, issues, problems, etc. nationally.

So guys like Gus Hawkins from Chicago, John Conyers, of Detroit, Adam Clayton Powell, i NYC, were national figures. This may also come to be true, that in the case of Omar & Tlaib, since Muslims are underrepresented, and often face discrimination, they feel like they have to speak up nationally.

I understand what they're doing, and they're not wrong, but they need to understand like Conyers, Powell. and Hawkins understood, that they need to vote and step up within their caucus on those issues they can support.

by Anonymousreply 466March 6, 2019 3:47 PM

When will we finally see some results and get him out of the White House? I don't really give a shit about Stone or Cohen or Manafort. I want Trump's head or at least some indictments for Don jr., Ivanka or Kushner.

There really is no Republican party left, except technically. Now, the Republican party is simply the GOP. No, not the Grand Old Party but Greedy Old Pricks.

The same GOP that lied (with Russia propaganda via Wikileaks, Fox News, etc.), cheated (with US/Russian candidate Jill Stein via her phony campaign) and stole (with GOP/US/Russian election officials via missing ballots and flipped votes) the election from America.

So, let's hope that when Mueller, SDNY, the House, etc. chops off the head of the snake (Donald Trump), the rest of the body will fall (the GOP).

by Anonymousreply 478March 6, 2019 5:43 PM

I read recently that the WH is very understaffed, including lower level clerical staff. People there fear conversing with one another. People leave and not replaced. John Mulvaney, head of the Office of Management and Budget, is also Acting Chief of Staff. Allegedly, he doesn't even bother to try to manage what Ivanka and Jared do. Morale is low. With the wave of recent requests for documents, they lack the personnel to do much of the labor, even if DJT and legal advisors approved it. Talented people either leave, or not sought and hired. Good prospects have refused WH staff offers.

Much of the Cabinet agencies/Departments are deeply engulfed in corruption, incompetence, or have missions to weaken or destroy such agencies in behalf of special interests. Only a fraction of it makes the news. Managing oversight of these agencies are close to non-existent.

DJT, beyond some meetings and photo-ops, supposedly spends long hours each day glued to cable news, mostly Fox, and sending out reactionary tweets.

Much of the executive branch looks to be in disarray, and that is not good for anyone expecting responsible and effective government. It's deterioration from within.

Former CIA Director Brennan on last night's Lawrence O’Donnell predicts more indictments coming this Friday!

“I think Robert Mueller wants to be able to conclude his work and turn over the investigative threads to the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of Virginia and other jurisdictions as appropriate,” Brennan told O’Donnell when pressed for a prediction on when the investigation would end. I wouldn’t be surprised if, for example, this week on Friday—not knowing anything about it—but Friday is the day the grand jury indictments come down,” he said.

“And this Friday is better than next Friday, because next Friday is the 15th of March—which is the Ides of March—and I don’t think Robert Mueller will want to have that dramatic flair of the Ides of March when he’ll be delivering what I think are going to be indictments, the final indictments, as well as the report to the attorney general,” Brennan said.

O'Donnell asked whether, as part of his work at the CIA, Brennan had seen indications of cooperation or conspiracy between Americans and Russians that might result in indictments.

“I thought at the time there were going to be individuals who were going to have issues with the Department of Justice, yes,” he said. “And I think we’ve already seen a number of individuals who have been indicted, either have pleaded guilty or have been convicted now.”

Brennan noted that the most high-profile indictments would likely only be unveiled at the very conclusion of the probe. Otherwise, Trump and his supporters might become desperate and move to shut down the probe and suppress its findings.

“If anybody from the Trump family, extended family, is going to be indicted, it would be the final act of Mueller’s investigation,” Brennan predicted.

the Democrats really need to make sure they keep putting forth their honest narrative that they are investigating potential crimes due to a litany of evidence. The repubs are not going to stop with their "witch hunt" narrative. The key is hitting it home to independents. A witch hunt would mean out of the blue the Democrats decided investigating which obviously isn't what happened. There's too much reporting and now indictments for them to ignore all that has happened.

by Anonymousreply 492March 6, 2019 7:56 PM

See, all this worry about violence isbullshit. Here's what I think. If they have indictments, and lawsuits, and legal challenges and hearings and then the impeachment process, it will affect public opinion a lot. I think peer pressure will drop Trump's approval ratings down into the high 20's certainly no higher than 31%. The process itself will rob his supporters of their energy. It will take weeks and weeks. By the time it's time for him to go they will be exhausted, bored and there will be no rallying point. But if we wait to defeat him at the polls the potential for violence leading up to election day, and the results going against him, is greater. So I say impeach that fucker and send his kids to jail. All they want is the right to discriminate and control culture, politics, policy--they cannot function under a government that provided equal benefits and treatment to all citizens under the law.

Push has come to shove and they will not be treated as equals, not without a fight. McConnell, Bannon, Miller et. al., they are trying to fuck up government to the point that parts of it disappear, changes, re-tools into something they can mold to serve the master religion and race. It really is like children throwing temper tantrums.

Fortunately, there are more of us than there are them. We won't simply forget how government works, is staffed, is accountable...we will recover but at a higher cost. Too bad we can't charge that cost to the GOP.

Rudy needs to be parading around Manhattan as a super-senior drag queen yearning for admiration, rather than digging himself deeper and deeper in this mess. For a few years now with Trump, he's developed a sinister portfolio.

by Anonymousreply 504March 6, 2019 9:39 PM

I’m glad it’s happening, R504. I don’t want any of his ilk slinking off into the sunset, sipping cocktails on a terrace.

by Anonymousreply 505March 6, 2019 9:46 PM

I honestly don’t understand what’s surprising or especially bad/improper/illegal about the contacts detailed in the ABC News story I linked at r503.

If they shared a joint defense agreement at the time, why would it be so shady for Cohen to have been contacted by two lawyers in touch with (representing?) Giuliani?

by Anonymousreply 506March 6, 2019 9:50 PM

It would if they were relaying the possibility of a presidential pardon in exchange for Cohen not ratting Trump out, R506.

by Anonymousreply 507March 6, 2019 10:00 PM

r506, ever hear of a little something called witness tampering?

by Anonymousreply 508March 6, 2019 10:00 PM

I understand that witness tampering could have occurred, but does it really rise to that level, based on what ABC reported?

by Anonymousreply 509March 6, 2019 10:01 PM

If these last 3 years had been a movie, I’d have walked out due to the absurdity of it all.

But it’s real life.

People will be parading naked in the streets when the president is gone. It will make Mardi Gras look like a picnic.

Trump speaking to Tim Cook, CEO of Apple at today's Workforce Policy Advisory Board meeting:

by Anonymousreply 520March 6, 2019 11:16 PM

If anyone would have told me 5 years ago the USA would find itself where it is now I would never believe it.

We are under textbook gaslighting. I always knew the repugs were thoroughly corrupt and amoral. I always thought they truly cared about our Constitution and our norms/laws. Welp, I thought wrong. Breath-taking immorality, corruption, greed, crassness, cravenness, and evil permeate the entire repug party. There really isn't a good one left. Not one. Because anyone with an ounce of integrity would have left the party by now. We crumble as they dawdle.

Bless the Dems for they may be the only ones to save us. I wish that was hyperbole.

by Anonymousreply 521March 6, 2019 11:40 PM

Oh, 5 yrs ago I was already predicting the aggressive, irrational stridency of the Right. I remember telling a friend when Reagan was President that the Right really wanted to establish a corporate police state. I said that old white men would never give up power. Of course I never dreamed it would happen like this. My babbling was more theoretical. But this is real, and it scares the crap out of me because I'm not sure we have the awareness or the will to push back. I love history and it comforts me. When I read how fragile things were for us in the 1770's and the 1800's and we somehow got through it, I feel like we'll get through this too.

by Anonymousreply 522March 6, 2019 11:51 PM

r522 We will. It will be harrowing I am afraid. You see it in the eyes of repugs. They are ready to push this country to the brink to stay in power. See, I don't think it is old white men who are the issue. It is old CONSERVATIVE white men who are. Conservatives are the ones who know their ideology is not palatable to a majority. Naturally, conservatives mainly appeal to old white men in this country but not in every country. Conservative men terrorize literally every country in the world not matter their color.

All the right-wing judges McConnell is railroading through confirmations to the federal courts and will be around for decades, are pro-corporate proponents. They will favor deregulations, protect monopolies, and rule against the "little guys" and public interests if it enhances corporate profits and power.

Republicans throw bones to their base by coupling corporate favoritism with anti-abortion and pro-gun rhetoric and supporting so-called "religious freedom" as code to allow LGBT discrimination.

After the 81 requests went out from the House Committees, the fucking talk shows were just filled with people saying words like 'over-reach' and worrying about how it will make Trump's witch hunt claims look more real and blah blah blah. What the fuck is wrong with the media? Finally, one of the commentators pointed out that there were that many requests because of ALL THE FUCKING CRIMES.

We have to be careful to point out the media's bias everywhere because even though we on this thread are the people who are paying close attention to all of this, the people who just tune in on Sunday or catch news in passing are going to get an entirely different picture spoonfed to them.

O'Donnell just talked about a Quinnipiac poll that asked how many were against the State of Emergency for a wall. It was 66% against - same number needed to veto.

by Anonymousreply 543March 7, 2019 2:55 AM

O'Donnell also just covered how the checks made to Cohen were initially made through Drumpf's trust and then in May it changed to a different account. There seemed to be no reason until you looked at the date of the check - it was made the day after Mueller was announced as the Special Prosecutor.

by Anonymousreply 544March 7, 2019 2:56 AM

So what does that indicate, R544?

Can someone also elucidate for me, like I’m a 5-year-old, how I can explain to Trump supporters that we know for a fact, or at least a near certainty, that the checks in question were indeed intended as repayment for the Stormy Daniels hush money? I have no doubt about it, OF COURSE, but I keep seeing smug Trump supporters on Facebook saying there’s no proof that those checks weren’t just regular retainer fees Trump was paying to Cohen, and nothing to do with Stormy. So far, I haven’t seen anyone offer a counter to that.

And no, I can’t just ignore the Trump supporters. They’re spreading falsehoods and creating doubt among people who might read their comments, and I feel it is critical to counter their bullshit with facts.

So please, someone who understands the law, lay out the case so I can fight fire with fure (and fury).

by Anonymousreply 545March 7, 2019 3:11 AM

That was:

“with fur, FIRE, and fury”, naturally.

by Anonymousreply 546March 7, 2019 3:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 548March 7, 2019 3:17 AM

I agree, r548. They talk big online. We the extremist took over the small federal building in eastern Oregon there were people online promising to join them. Hundreds of them. None of them showed.

by Anonymousreply 549March 7, 2019 3:23 AM

R545 why bother trying to argue with Drumpf supporters? They've shown their moronic and will continue to believe in fantasy rather than fact. You're wasting your breath.

Re: the checks. Basically, why would they all of a sudden change the payment account AFTER a Special Counsel had been appointed? Because they were obviously trying to hide something. If there was nothing wrong with what they were doing (or if it really were just payments to have Cohen as a retainer) you wouldn't need to change where the money was coming from.

by Anonymousreply 550March 7, 2019 3:23 AM

R547, thank you. That’s what I’ve been telling them. Do we know for a fact that he was paid a (yearly?) salary, rendering the likelihood that he would have gotten a monthly retainer impossible?

by Anonymousreply 551March 7, 2019 3:24 AM

R550, i explained why I think it’s worth it to counter their claims.

Is there really no innocent explanation for changing from Trump Org account & Weiselberg’s signature to Trump’s personal account & Richter scale sig?

by Anonymousreply 552March 7, 2019 3:26 AM
I keep seeing smug Trump supporters on Facebook saying there’s no proof that those checks weren’t just regular retainer fees Trump was paying to Cohen

If those were retainer payments, where's the retainer agreement with a date that will match the period of the checks? If there's such an agreement, Ghoulianni or someone else from Cheeto's camp would've produced it already, no?

This retainer talk is like the "I'm being audited" mumbo jumbo.

by Anonymousreply 553March 7, 2019 3:49 AM

There are some neo nazi types on college campuses that will attempt to be disruptive, but I think the police will have something to say about it. And inciting people to riot is a crime. I was born in '57. I remember as a kid watching riots on TV. This will be nothing to get upset about.

But the problem with the commentators going on and on about how the 81 informational requests that went out were 'over-reach' and that this would just give credence to Trump's claims of a witch hunt and how he is the victim were fucking liberals! I was literally yelling at the tv, "What the fuck is wrong with you? This is not about the Democrats. There's an INSANE TRAITOR in the White House!" But, they kept going and going until one guy finally said that the large number was because of the huge number of crimes and a woman on the panel finally pointed out that there were nearly 2000 requests for information during the Whitewater investigation.

Fucking assholes.

Maddow talked to a Dem congresswoman about the scandal with the FBI HQ building - how Trump nixed the plans to move and sell the site for development, because he doesn't want to have a hotel development go up in this prime spot and very near the Trump DC hotel.

She showed emails from the General Services saying Trump directed it, and the pic of the head honcha of GS meeting with Trump - the same GS head had told Congress already (aka lied) that Trump had nothing to do with it.

This is corruption and profiting from being in government. Congresswoman said now they can investigate fully.

by Anonymousreply 559March 7, 2019 4:02 AM

Sure, R552 dumb yourself and the rest of us down and come up with a rational explanation for it if it was just an innocent payment to an employee.

by Anonymousreply 560March 7, 2019 4:03 AM

Were Congressional hearings always run in 5 minute, alternating increments like they are now? I wasn't around during the Nixon stuff and haven't watched them end to end but I don't remember seeing them cutting off relevant lines of questioning because someone ran out of their five minutes. I suppose if there wasn't a time limit, the Repugs would just never shut the fuck up with their nonsense but it's infuriating. We get to something criminal and relevant and they stop and then let a Repug yammer on about how some of his best friends are black like this one I made stand behind me silently like a servant.
