That is the 'genius' of Trump and his cronies, I suppose. By doing their worst right out in the open for all to see, the lemmings just assume there’s no wrong there. Cuz, you know, if they were doing something illegal, surely they wouldn’t be so brazen, right?

I remember him nattering away on some NY news show a long time ago about how The Apprentice was the number one show in the rating that week, when all you had to do was look at the TV ratings in Entertainment Weekly to see that it was hovering somewhere around #20. It was bewildering to me back then because he tossed this stuff out so casually and so unblinkingly; rather than suspect him of lying, it made you distrust the Nielsen ratings.

by Anonymousreply 15February 23, 2019 4:27 PM

Manafort filing coming very soon. Between now and the next couple hours.

by Anonymousreply 16February 23, 2019 5:05 PM

If the Lindsey Graham obsessive posts something about him today, I’m blocking him.

by Anonymousreply 17February 23, 2019 5:05 PM

I'm with you, R17.

by Anonymousreply 18February 23, 2019 5:06 PM

I bet Lindsay will say something about the Manafort filing. How shameful it is to drag this very decent man through the mud.

by Anonymousreply 19February 23, 2019 5:10 PM

Actually, the Senatrice is probably already asking Uncle Peter to be prepared with her smelling salts.

by Anonymousreply 20February 23, 2019 5:18 PM

He probably will, R19, but who cares. We certainly don’t need 4 or 5 posts about him in this thread once he does. Again, start a dedicated LG thread. He is not relevant to the Mueller investigation.

by Anonymousreply 21February 23, 2019 5:18 PM

[Quote] I find it odd that there seems to be a spike in the number of Pro-Trump and divisive tweets posted around 2-4am EST. This would be between 10am and Noon Moscow time. Russia is either still trying to influence Americans' minds or the bulk of Trump supporters are on Moscow-time.

I'd like to say something in defense of the Lindsay updates: it's because he's always out and about doing something stupid. It gives (me, at least) something to direct my annoyance/anger at while we wait. Honestly, if Ivanka was as much of a media whore as the senator, I'd feel the same way.

by Anonymousreply 23February 23, 2019 5:33 PM

Start a thread just about him and your annoyance/anger then.

by Anonymousreply 24February 23, 2019 5:42 PM

Russia, China, Israel, and more, and the Russians aren't just targeting America, Europe has been getting a big dose of right-wing money and propaganda as well.

by Anonymousreply 36February 23, 2019 6:30 PM

Just think if Manafort hadn't become Trump's campaign manager his crimes might never have come to light. For every Manafort who gets caught I wonder how many are still out there, a hundred, a thousand?

by Anonymousreply 37February 23, 2019 6:30 PM

Most of the 800 pages are already public-facing documents, we're not learning much new - MSNBC legal analyst.

by Anonymousreply 38February 23, 2019 6:33 PM

Here comes Ken Delanian to pour cold water on all of us. Ken says there is NO RUSSIAN CONSPIRACY AT ALL in this document! None! No collusion!

Ken has spoken!

by Anonymousreply 39February 23, 2019 6:39 PM

R39 He says there’s no mention in the document of Russia or collusion.

How long before Trump tweets “NO COLLUSION!”?

by Anonymousreply 40February 23, 2019 6:42 PM

R39, well, he’s certainly totally reliable. How long ago was he wrong about something? Two days ago?

by Anonymousreply 41February 23, 2019 6:43 PM

I just about puked listening to Ken. It was unreal. I had to check to make sure I hadn’t accidentally changed the channel to Fox News.

Ken is really saying Mueller has nothing on russian collusion. He literally said that.

by Anonymousreply 42February 23, 2019 6:46 PM

WHET QAnon?

When will Mueller REVEAL that he is secretly working with Trump to expose and jail THE DEEP STATE?!?!!

That nut on the last thread said that Bill and Hillary will be in prison before 2020 and most likely dead, thanks to the efforts of The Alliance and the rest.

by Anonymousreply 43February 23, 2019 6:46 PM

Fun activity: search “Ken Dilanian” on Twitter, set results to ‘Latest’, and read the responses to his assholery from the last few minutes.

by Anonymousreply 44February 23, 2019 6:52 PM

What it boils down to is that the law is enforced selectively, rich and well-connected people being exempt from its consequences, and that a third or more of Americans are fine with that because they see government in tribal terms and not in terms of the rule of law. Fairness and single standards have to be part of the Democrats' constant message.

by Anonymousreply 45February 23, 2019 6:56 PM

I've always thought collusion was the weak link in the Trump criminal chain, so I won't be surprised when it's reported there is no collusion.

If Trump & Company go to jail, it will be for tax evasion, money laundering and fraud.

by Anonymousreply 46February 23, 2019 6:58 PM

Of course there's fucking collusion between the campaign and Russia. Duh.

The question is: is there any evidence that TRUMP knew what was going on?

by Anonymousreply 47February 23, 2019 7:00 PM

R37 you make an excellent point. I 'm mystified. If I'm late paying my income tax I get busted. There isn't a single basic felony in this world that an ordinary citizen would get away with for the most part. Yet guys like Trump and Manafort and hundreds of others steal tens of millions and skate. My question is why wasn't Manafort caught sooner. Same with Trump, for sure.

by Anonymousreply 48February 23, 2019 7:01 PM

Kendilanian must be a "stooge," programmed by NBC's execs and corporate overlords to keep Trump from harrassing them too much, or singling them out, on Twitter and at rallies.

by Anonymousreply 49February 23, 2019 7:01 PM

That’s the only explanation I can think of, r49.

Here’s the collusion between the campaign and Russia that we know of, just from COURT FILINGS. This is not counting all the lies the Trump campaign, transition team, and administration have told about their RU contacts, or attempts to conceal them:

Manafort passed internal, private polling data to Konstantin Kilimnik and lied about it.

Roger Stone was in contact with the GRU hackers and WikiLeaks, and lied about it.

That is criminal conspiracy with Russia at the campaign level.

by Anonymousreply 50February 23, 2019 7:07 PM

OP, thank you for your treasonable threads. They help me get through the Trump madness.

DL, thank you for your posts. They help me, too.

Now, I have some theories to throw out there. And, I'd like to ask DL to help make sense of them. I'll do one now and more later.

I believe that US/Russia involvement started long before Trump. And, that was at the 2009 Obama inauguration. When Senator McConnell and other GOP senators swore to make Obama a 1 term president. In that the GOP were willing to do anything to hurt President Obama. Even conspiring with Russia.

by Anonymousreply 53February 23, 2019 7:52 PM

I guess Dilanian requires a video of Trump and someone recognizably Russian discussing how they will hack the voting rolls and steal the election. Nothing less will suffice for him. What an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 54February 23, 2019 8:15 PM

I had a paperroute as a kid. I’m Catholic, but only the Easter weekend was sacrosanct. I recall trying to collect on a regular Sunday for my papers from an old, troublesome lady. She did bother to open the door, before closing it in my face saying “Not on a Sunday, not on a Sunday. It’s a great line to use.

So, whenever anything like this news breaks on a Sunday, which I know today is not, I always think of shrieking that at whomever. DataLounge doesn’t get it, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 55February 23, 2019 8:28 PM

Mueller is using his filings as partial public reports.

They are breadcrumbs for the future for the redacted portions. .

Mueller is brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 56February 23, 2019 8:36 PM

IMO the best person to make sense of this and put it in context is Seth Abramson. Here's his latest Twitter thread about Mueller's new Manafort report. In a nutshell, Seth says you can't read much into this report, because Mueller is obviously still keeping things very much close to his vest - but considering there is already so much evidence for Trump/Russia collusion (Seth has already written one book documenting it and is working on a second book), anyone who still doubts it or tries to sow doubt (like Dilanian) is a shitty and lazy journalist.

Joyce says this means that Mueller is holding back the Russian charges. He doesn't want that out there yet. She said the fact that there is not one word is the big clue to that being the case. She is, of course, 100% right. The media just accepted this shit as being normal and covered the Trump campaign like any other. Their crimes were not just evident, they were framed with fucking chaser lights. And what did the press do? Equate, chuckle, ignore.

Why are liberals so willing to give the opposition the benefit of the doubt, all the while bashing their own? To appear fair and even-handed?!? How is it fair to ignore blatant wrongdoing? It’s maddening. JFC.

by Anonymousreply 80February 24, 2019 1:35 PM

Alan Dershowitz was just on ABC This Week. What a moron. He was bleating on and on about how the Repugs should be able to file a simultaneous response to the Mueller report. Yeah, like that would work.

by Anonymousreply 81February 24, 2019 2:21 PM

Let's see, DL threads go into unhinged, hissy rage if Miss Lindsey is mentioned and shuts down DL, but Kellyanne's Pussy is something to cherish?

I hope whoever interviewed Dershowitz on ABC ended the interview by saying, "And just to remind our viewers, Alan, you vigorously defended in a court of law your good friend, child rapist Jeffrey Epstein. Thanks for coming in. And now, here's Stacy with the weather!"

by Anonymousreply 83February 24, 2019 2:35 PM

I was watching This Week on ABC, but the panel was hard to watch because the Obama guy kept talking over everybody, even his fellow democrat Heidi Heitkamp. He was like the democratic version of Kellyanne Conway.

by Anonymousreply 84February 24, 2019 3:41 PM

Yeah, he was bad but he had to counter that Repug blowhard Alex Castellanos.

by Anonymousreply 85February 24, 2019 3:51 PM

For those who didn't see This Week, Castellano was talking about the three democratic lanes in the primaries. He identified the Establishment primary, the Progressive primary and the "Obama/black" primary. It was such a tactless, old white guy thing to say.

Per Scott Dworkin:

Could Barr put a gag order on Mueller to prevent him from sharing the entire findings at a hearing?

by Anonymousreply 88February 24, 2019 4:12 PM

R88 I don't think that is possible. Gag orders typically come from a judge in a trial. I don't think the AG has the power to issue a gag order on Mueller. If so, Trump would have tried that by this time by having Barr order Cohen not to testify. They can do things like totally classify it so Mueller can't testify about it in public but I think there will be outrage if the report isn't released publicly. It was funded by tax payers. We have a right to see it. Government officials don't own it, we do.

by Anonymousreply 89February 24, 2019 4:22 PM

When Peter Strozk testified, he kept referring to the fact that there were things the FBI wouldn't clear him to talk about. I expect the FBI to be a bigger issue than Barr.

by Anonymousreply 90February 24, 2019 4:24 PM

If Mueller's report is complete, and he leaves the DOJ, wouldn’t he then be a private citizen? How could Barr prevent him from testifying?

by Anonymousreply 91February 24, 2019 4:26 PM

I'm afraid that the government might find it so damaging that they will suppress it for "the good of the country." If what we know is reported 1) Russia assisted Trump by using social media "fake news" 2) Russia tampered with registration rolls in key states that Trump won marginally 3) Trump campaign coordinated the release of stolen emails 4) Trump and Campaign were willing to work with Russia on stolen emails from Hillary Clinton 4) Russia funneled millions of money to the NRA which used it to elect Republicans 5) Republicans knew where the money was coming from accepted it anyway 5) Trump and/or campaign passed sensitive information to Russia and/or Saudis 6) And so much more. I'm afraid that the report could be so damning that it would destroy government (Lots of republican senators and reps indicted and the president/vice president being illegally elected. The constitution doesn't have a remedy for this so the report must be hidden to "protect the republic."

by Anonymousreply 92February 24, 2019 4:31 PM

Americans went psychotic when they didn’t get a good explanation for LOST.

I’m pretty sure they will demand to see the full report.

by Anonymousreply 93February 24, 2019 4:33 PM

Once you've had top secret clearance, you have to hold those secrets for life - whether you're a government employee or not. McCabe was discussing this when asked if he had seen additional information that indicted Trump. He alluded that he had but couldn't elaborate.

by Anonymousreply 94February 24, 2019 4:33 PM

R92 - these are EXACTLY the reasons the Mueller Report NEEDS to be released. These assholes must be punished with the LOSE of their power in 2020 and it must NEVER happen again.

by Anonymousreply 95February 24, 2019 4:37 PM

Some content of the Mueller report may be withheld for national security reasons, I. e. cetain surveillence techniques and technology applied, applied, names of informants including international intelligence sources, names of agents on the ground, avoid compromising auxillary investigations that are ongoing, etc.

Otherwise, culprits, rationales, findings, prosecuting recommendations, and related, need to be shared.

by Anonymousreply 96February 24, 2019 4:39 PM

LOL, R93!

by Anonymousreply 97February 24, 2019 4:39 PM

It’s incredible to me how much the media is talking about this stupid meeting between the dotard and the murderer of North Korea. Why aren’t they condemning this meeting? The leader of North Korea is a torturer, murderer and all-out despicable human being. Then the media is talking about the possibility of the US lifting sanctions. What the fuck! Will there be someone in that room with the two fat pigs, or is this going to be like a Putin meeting? That dotard is a traitor.

by Anonymousreply 98February 24, 2019 4:52 PM

I'm totally hoping for a "wheels up" moment from Mueller when AF1 takes off for Vietnam. North Korea president is traveling by train because they don't have planes which can make it to Europe or apparently Vietnam for that matter. And we're worried about their long range missiles?

by Anonymousreply 99February 24, 2019 4:59 PM

Be honest R99 - would YOU get on a North Korean commercial airplane?

by Anonymousreply 100February 24, 2019 5:04 PM

R100 LOL I don't think I'd get on a North Korean train.

He can't stop Mueller from complying with a Congressional subpoena and answering whatever questions are put to him. How much of that would actually be released is uncertain,. but Barr can't order him not to comply with Congress. He'd be in hot water if he tried.

by Anonymousreply 104February 24, 2019 6:29 PM

I don’t think AGs can issue “gag orders” per se. That’s something only a judge can do.

I am not the poster you are persistently trolling, but I have posted on Lindsey Graham at times, including recently. You trying to control what people post is a frequent pattern and an obsession. You are rude and offensive. Block whomever you disagree with, but perhaps stop posting their reply #s to see what they say. By the way, I have been a dues paying member for years. Are you?

You can't grasp the role Graham plays as it relates to the investigation. He's out there being dismissive that the forthcoming Mueller Report. Unlike the poster you are attacking, I won't offer a link for you. Graham is Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The Mueller report goes to Congress. Because you fail to grasp the connection, it is not the fault of the thread contributor.

Heck, I will post something on fricking Lindsey to give the bitches something to complain about. Am not the Graham news informer, but am in SC and know him. Am a Democrat, upper middle aged lesbian, 23% Cherokee, I know him, and 40 miles or so in the hills from his home community in north Georgia just over the line.

Even on a Sunday, Graham is on Fox News or wherever. He doesn't miss a day or opportunity. To add, I don't find Kellyanne's Pussy appealing whatsoever.

I've been on vacation and missed most of the last thread and this one.

What is this crap about complaining about Graham posts? That has been a staple on ALL these threads and I'm suspicious that someone now is trying to control what people posts about him.

Graham is heavily involved in all of this and continues to enable Dotard. People can and will post about Graham all they want if you don't like it, ignore it. The posts bitching about it take up way more space than those actual posts about him.

I guess the Senatrice googled and found the, "I'll Be Your Girl For All Treasons," thread and didn't like it one bit!!!

Even now the media portrays a lot of this as "partisan squabbles." The Republicans engage in petty small time political tit for tat. Dershowitz or Giuliani suggesting they produce their own response to the Mueller report? Are they fucking shitting me? The Mueller report is definitive. This is NOT partisan politics as usual. I love Sarah Kenzior and she is brilliant. Ken Dilanian could not lick the shit off the soles of her shoes.

by Anonymousreply 123February 24, 2019 10:32 PM

R117 gets it. That’s all I’ve been trying to say. Look, even if Graham says something bitchy abiut Republicans or Democrats who don’t support Trump’s emergency declaration, that STILL has nothing to do with the Russia investigation. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t. Neither does anything about Kamala Harris’ candidacy or Klobuchar’s or anything else.

These threads are about THE MUELLER PROBE; they are not a depository for any and all political news or snark you feel you need to get out. There ARE other threads for those topics. Find them, and use them.

I know some of you just don’t understand this, and you really can’t help it, but this is REALLY not that complicated.

by Anonymousreply 124February 24, 2019 10:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 125February 24, 2019 10:45 PM

Stop trying to dictate what people talk about in here. You're the minority.

He's desperate not to appear desperate. His re-election campaign has already started. Actually it began with his first rally of 2017. We really need to put pressure on the media. They have to up their game. I want to know why there hasn't been more coverage about Jared and Michael flynn trying to broker an illegal deal to sell our nuclear technology to the Saudis. I want to know more about Trump's attempted interference with the Mueller investigation, and his attempts to tamper with the SDNY investigations. There are even more stories that go unexplored that the media neglects because they're chasing Trump.

by Anonymousreply 142February 25, 2019 4:00 AM

Yeah, it’s odd that there hasn’t been more coverage of that, but this week was all about Barr being confirmed, Manafort’s sentencing memo, and whatever other shit Trump hogged the airwaves with.

When the investigation turns to Saudi Arabia, the media will circle back to this revelation, and the public will have no clue. I’m really not looking forward to the Saudi chapter...

by Anonymousreply 147February 25, 2019 7:40 AM

Posting this in response to R147.

This used to be posted frequently in the earlier Treason threads:

[quote]Yes. There's already proof. I work in the industry. I sat in a meeting with the head of cyber security investigations for the FBI in Florida. Their systems were hacked in 2016. What's difficult is proving that (or more accurately stated "how") the votes were manipulated. But go back to election night and remember how Trump pulled ahead in Florida, NC, MI, PA and WI. It happened almost like clock work once the precincts reporting crossed the 50% threshold. This shit is deep. Putin had already done this in his own election and also in Ukraine. We should be very worried about the EU elections coming up.

Please, please do. We are all breathlessly awaiting. Don't forget conducting an analysis of variance and analysis of co-variance in your scholarly study. Please don't forget this post. I want to be included. Please add an addendum of all LG cartoons. Thank you in advance.

In the meantime, Graham declares that Barr has to report to HIM with a chosen summary report. Of course, Dianne Feinstein will receive a courtesy copy.

On surface, it looks like a set-up to comfort Trump.

The House leadership better demand Mueller's full report, and any redacted portions satisfactorily explained.

"SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM: Under the regulations, the Attorney General has to report to me and the ranking member Dianne Feinstein a summary of what was found [by the Mueller investigation]. Who is going to be pursued criminally, if anyone at all. Kind of a summary. He doesn't have to give us the entire report.

But my belief is that "collusion" really is "conspiracy" and nobody has been charged with the crime of conspiracy. Everybody who has been charged has been process crimes or financial crimes, so my belief is that there is no collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, and if there had been, somebody would have been charged by now with conspiracy, but we'll know in a couple weeks. "

by Anonymousreply 149February 25, 2019 2:33 PM

Thank you for re posting that, R149. For those of us working on the campaign in our state elections, we were stunned. We watched those numbers change before our eyes, horror stricken. In that moment, I said out loud what all of us felt in our bones. I stood there watching the numbers and turned to my fellow workers and said, "They stole it! They fucking stole the damned election!"

Every exit poll, ever bit of data we had showed Hillary winning. Just 77,744 votes. So fucking easy to alter out of the tens of millions cast. Remember. Michelle Obama gave a campaign speech sometime in that last month before the election. She was telling her audience how important their vote was. She pointed out that if Barack Obama had received just 11 votes per precinct less, he would have lost the election. Eleven votes per precinct.

If they hacked in to the voting rolls of at least 21 states, which the Election commission readily admits they did, and many believe it was 37 states, why invest all the effort into helping Trump if they weren't going to guarantee the outcome. I hate it when people say, They got in but there is no evidence they changed any votes, there's no proof. "There is proof. It may be circumstantial, but it is valid.

And we're marching into 2020, with very little, if anything, being done to stop it from happening again. In fact Trump's trained pig, Steve Bannon already announced Trump will win in 2020, "by an even bigger margin than he won in 2016." They're not hiding.

by Anonymousreply 150February 25, 2019 2:34 PM

R150, that's the GOP line, "Process crimes." They conveniently overlook all the Russian GRU agents and the hacking operations that were set up in Moscow and coordinated with the campaign. They conveniently ignore all the specific , well documented times top Campaign staff and others closely associated with Trump met with Russian contacts.

by Anonymousreply 151February 25, 2019 2:37 PM

r150.....Paul Manafort and Rick Gates were both charged with conspiracy against the United States.

by Anonymousreply 152February 25, 2019 2:41 PM

Indeed, R153. And Flynn's activities with Turkey in an alleged conspiracy to kidnap a resident in the U.S., and perhaps other activities involving finances, doesn't make his behavior endearing either.

by Anonymousreply 153February 25, 2019 2:47 PM

r150.....As you note, none of the players are charged in the Russian Conspiracy.....why, you ask ? Because Mueller hasnt released those charges YET. You can rest assured that when he does...and he will...that we will see all of these criminals again, and then some....Flynn, Gates, Manafort, Stone, Prince, Kushner, Junior, the list goes on and ends with Trump himself. You dont understand how all this works do you ? Mueller does NOT need to reveal his hand to charge Flynn, Manafort, et al....they are all dirty with other crimes. He uses that as a tactic to get them to cooperate. (i.e. Flynn flipped to protect his son). That does not preclude them from being charged when the BIG ONE drops....it will be called a superseding indictment and it will ensnare them all....and a few we are clueless about. If Mueller wanted to show his hand, he would have referenced Russian Conspiracy in the charging documents and sentencing documents. Anyone with half a brain cell knows there are more crimes for each of these individuals. They pled to their other shit, and unless they were granted total immunity from other crimes....they werent....they are in for a world of hurt.

Robert & Rebekah Mercer keep a low public profile, but their political activities and financing of operations, inclusive of the former efforts of Cambridge Analytica, raises questions. Rebekah has been tied directly to Bannon (Breitbart & related) and is tight with Kellyanne Conway. This may give the Mercers on-site WH influence, assuming they use it.

Recent articles about the role of the Mercers are scarce. News organizations appear to avoid explaining how the Mercers were involved with the Trump campaign, and how they may have been helping Trump outside the visible aspects. Breitbart has been a long-time investment of the Mercers.

Perhaps it is all legit as to the Mercers, but isn't some clarifications are in order to set the record straight?

Leaving questions hanging, renders the impression that involvement by the ultra-wealthy funders are off-limits for scrutiny. Has anyone on the Mueller team interviewed the Mercers? Surely, they would possess certain information that would be germaine to the inquiry.

This December, 2018 article may have been posted prior, but it is only a couple of months old.

I do not understand why when Michael Cohen testifies in front of Congress, later this week, in front of three committees, two of those appearances will not be open to the public or televised. Michael Cohen is not a government official, he has no state secrets and he has no classified information. So why the hell is the public being kept from what he has to say? We have a right to know what is going on, I understand when state secrets are being discussed but nothing Michael Cohen knows should be classified, congress just doesn't want us to know.

Trump Organization ***DEMANDS*** that the House Judiciary cease their investigation into the Trump Org.

Hilarious.

—“In a letter Monday to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Trump Organization lawyer Alan S. Futerfas objected to the committee’s hiring of Berry H. Berke on the grounds that his law firm, Kramer Levin, has represented the Trump Organization on an array of issues.

“This state of affairs violates recognized ethical obligations and irreparably taints the Committee’s work,” Futerfas wrote, adding that it “requires that the Committee cease and desist from any and all activities that are adverse to the Company.” —

R190, Cohen WILL be discussing very sensitive things that are part of ongoing criminal and congressional investigations, and I imagine the need for 2 closed settings stems from the investigators desire’s to keep subjects/targets of the investigations from knowing what Cohen is telling them. Of course, with Nunes in one room, and whichever Senate GOP toadies there are in the other, it’s likely a moot point.

Cohen’s own status as a private citizen has nothing to do with protecting his testimony.

by Anonymousreply 191February 25, 2019 8:34 PM

R190, the House and Senate Intelligence Committee hearings will be closed because Cohen will be testifying about Russia.

by Anonymousreply 192February 25, 2019 8:35 PM

That is exactly my point R192, Trump and his attorneys know what Cohen says, shortly after he says it, then shortly after that Jared and Trump Jr will be told, the public is the only party that will not know.

R190 Russia and Putin know what they did, and they know what Cohen knows, if anything. Again it is the public that is being kept in the dark. I just think our government, all of it keeps too many secrets from the public and many people who have worked in government will agree with that.

Though it is not written, or verified, it looks like a PR firm is image building in behalf of Lindzey. The WP, NYT, and Salon, within the last 24 hours, have written explanations as to why Lindzey has become Trump's most adamant supporter. The timing of this unison this delivery on the natural metamorphosis of Lindzey doesn't look staged since there have been questions for many months. Each mention the golf outing, but sound dismissive of Lindzey being saddled with compromise. The image re-make effort appears to be pressed currently in DL.

All this as Congress may soon receive a Mueller Report summary. Coincidence? The WP and NYT on the same day? There are declared presidential candidates that crave to have such print coverage and don't receive it.

It will be interesting to see if Trump declares an end to the Korean War. I'm betting he does. Also, interesting to note that the Kremlin released a statement saying that Trump had "consulted" with Moscow on how to handle the North Korea summit. Also, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov just happens to be in Vietnam at the same time as Trump. How many fucking clues do we need to see that Trump is a Russian asset? Why aren't the media screaming about this. If they spent half as much time as they did with Hillary's private email server...maybe we wouldn't have Putin Jr. in the White House.

Like, some lobbyist gave the some info or some money and they didn't report it correctly or think anything of it. But, nope. It's all Repugs. Almost like it was known and planned and, ya know, covered up extensively by the perpetrators. When they all start screaming about how they just had no idea the money or information was coming from Russia, I really hope someone thinks to ask them why, if that's the case, they seem to have been so damn good at covering it up?

The reason only Republicans are involved in this mess is because Putin took advantage of an already established network of Republican corruption and criminal activities (like voter fraud) of which Putin was well aware of in advance and therefore sent assets and spies to target specific people who could help him to execute his plan.

If Trump collapses, the Republicans have three candidates ready to go: Pence, Kasich and Christie. Pence has traveled all over the world, and he's going to use Venezuela as proof he can be a strong president. Kasich is pitching his arguments to moderate Republicans and independents, jumping on the climate change band wagon. Christie is pitching his message to the Republican donor base - everything would have been different if only Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon hadn't thrown out the greatest transition plan that ever existed.

by Anonymousreply 226February 26, 2019 12:55 PM

Think how many of these greedy Republicans have been paid off, to destroy our country.

by Anonymousreply 227February 26, 2019 12:57 PM

Republicans have been extremely corrupt since Reagan. Anyone paying attention, would know that Republicans are freakish liars and easily bought.

by Anonymousreply 228February 26, 2019 1:02 PM

In the Republican primary, I don't think Republican greed is going to be an issue. That's an issue for the general election.

In the primaries, Evangelicals would go for Pence. The moderates would split between Kasich and Christie. The real question is going to be where the non-religious Trump fans go. Pence has been a loyal servant to Trump, but Trump fans like a strong authority figure - which is why Pence is working on building up his international credentials. Christie is a friend of Trump and a strong authority figure - but he might be too establishment now to excite them. Kasich is not a Trump friend, so he's out of luck. If Trump drops out, I think it's down to Pence and Christie.

Former Trump personal lawyer Michael Cohen on Tuesday starts a three-day gantlet of congressional appearances by giving a closed-door interview to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Trump's former "fixer" is expected to detail what he claims to know about Trump's contacts with Russia, hush payments made prior to the 2016 election and other sensitive matters.

Cohen is also expected to provide evidence of alleged criminal conduct by Trump since he became president, according to NBC. In addition to his testimony, Cohen will reveal information about Trump's financial statements

by Anonymousreply 242February 26, 2019 2:20 PM

Hey, Trump is paranoid. When it has been so publicly accepted that Kelly Anne is one of the biggest leakers in that administration, or in D.C. in general, and he has not yet dumped her ass, that ought to tell you something. She probably has him believing that her leaks are "to protect you, never to hurt you," and he'd understand that because Trump himself was once a strategic leaker back in the day.

Secondly, her ties to the Mercers keep her very safe. Trump would never fuck with the Mercers. One more thing. Steve Bannon and Trump still talk, and Bannon still "advises" him. Bannon, Brad Parscale and Steve Miller are all close.

As for the 2020 Presidential run, IO, Kasich has the upper hand. Media will flock to him, and "make" him. Christie has too much dirt, and honestly, his ties to Trump will not help him of GOP voters are looking for an alternative. Especially if Trump is busted. Pence is a cipher.

by Anonymousreply 248February 26, 2019 2:49 PM

R244 good ponts.

Kasich is one of the GOP politicians whose PAC accepted money from the oligarch tied to Putin. That is not frequently mentioned. Kasich portrays himself as squeaky clean and very religious. That noted, he has major experience in Congress and as Governor, and is possibly the best "old establishment" Republican the party could put forward. He can be odd at times, but is pragmatic and competent, and not crazy.

Pence rises and falls with Trump. Hardcore evangelicals like him due to his anti-abortion stance, his record of being anti-gay rights, and his efforts to mix state and religion. Christie has major baggage, but is much less troubling than Pence.

by Anonymousreply 249February 26, 2019 3:21 PM

Kasich is a closet case...the GOP will never get behind him....no pun intended.

by Anonymousreply 250February 26, 2019 3:24 PM

R251 He's long-term married with grown kids. That passes in the GOP unless he is caught in a sex scandal.

by Anonymousreply 251February 26, 2019 3:28 PM

We need to keep tying Pence to Trump. They were a team. They were elected together by the same illegal campaign. Remember, Manafort was the one who wanted Pence as Vice President. There is a Russian reason. Pence took over the transition when they found that crooked Christie wasn't quite crooked enough for them. He wouldn't siphon money off the inauguration directly to Trump. Also, there were rumours during the transition that Pence was floating cabinet nominees past the Russians for approval. That's how we got Secretary of State Rex Tillis who had no connection to anyone in the administration nor was he actively involved in Republican politics. Name came as a surprise to almost everyone - except Putin.

Graham is running to the Fox cameras that he intents, as the first order of business, to subpoena Comey as to why the F-B-I "spied" on the Trump campaign. Graham declares he's going to get to the "bottom" of this.

Comey has already testified before Congress for hours on this matter. Why would Comey need a subpoena; he's always volunteered to provide testimony when requested?

Graham has not scheduled any hearings to directly investigate DJT's campaign and Russia.

by Anonymousreply 257February 26, 2019 4:20 PM

Kasich is deeply closeted and that will be used to exploit him if he becomes a serious challenger. I’m sure KellyAnne is already working on it.

by Anonymousreply 260February 26, 2019 4:23 PM

We've been talking about Pence, Kasich and Christie prepping their presidential runs if Trump goes down. Do you think Graham is also thinking along those lines, and sucking up to Trump is his way of laying the groundwork?

by Anonymousreply 261February 26, 2019 4:26 PM

R259 Just curious and a serious question. Why would red and sweaty-looking hands be indicative of being gay.

I certainly understand the stereotypes of limp wrists, hand gesturing, and raising the pinkies, but red and sweaty-looking?

by Anonymousreply 262February 26, 2019 4:30 PM

Good R258. I hope they do. It will just give Comey another opportunity to talk about Trump's connections to Russia and why the FBI was so concerned about Trump being indebted and open to blackmail by Putin. Comey always comes across as very credible when talking about this.

by Anonymousreply 263February 26, 2019 4:31 PM

You would think running for President would be the last thing Graham would want if he's afraid of people looking into his past.

by Anonymousreply 264February 26, 2019 4:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 268February 26, 2019 4:58 PM

Nothing surprises me anymore. I was even thinking that Lindsey was compromised a long time ago and his "friendship" with McCain started out as sincere, as much as any relationship in D.C. is sincere, but over time Lindsey was compromised and he was keeping an eye on McCain because the Russians hated him. I know. Byzantine but hey, there is an element of the unreal to all of this. But as far as Pence goes, I'm told Manafort wanted to stay on the good side of the Kochs, so when their political director gave Campaign chair, Manafort a list of potential VP candidates he grabbed Pence as the one who'd satisfy the Evangelicals. Trump was not someone who, back in 2016 was going to attract those evangelicals.

BUSTED: Woman says Trump supporter Jacob Wohl tricked her into going along with bogus Mueller rape claim.

Carolyne Cass, the woman at the center of Trump supporter Jacob Wohl’s bogus rape claim against special Robert Mueller, has told USA Today that he tricked her into going along with his scheme to smear the man investigating President Donald Trump. In her interview with the newspaper, Cass revealed that Wohl first approached her by pretending to be a man named Matthew Cohen, who was purportedly a private detective who had received training from Israeli intelligence agencies.

“They made it up,” Cass said of a sworn statement about a sexual assault by Mueller that she purportedly signed and that was given to reporters at Wohl’s infamous press conference. Despite this, however, Cass says she has still not been contacted by the FBI, which received a referral from the special counsel’s office last year.

The upstate is the biggest Republican stronghold. Many of the fervent Republicans are retirees and transplants from the midwest and the northeast. They are vigorously anti-tax, don't support more funding for public education or infrastructure improvements, are not proponents of environmental protection, and were opposed to the state accepting Medicaid supplements.

There are white Democrats. They are about 6 to 8 percentage points short in helping to win most state-wide races. Turn-out from black voters needs to be stronger.

Judge in the Maria Butina case agreed with prosecutors just now, who asked that her sentencing be delayed because she is still cooperating in ongoing investigations.

by Anonymousreply 290February 26, 2019 7:32 PM

I love how with each passing day and new item, it becomes more clear that this investigation is nowhere near over, no matter how much Trump's team keeps pushing this narrative.

by Anonymousreply 291February 26, 2019 8:21 PM

Oh-so-dignified Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz threatens Cohen in a tweet: ‏ Hey @MichaelCohen212 - Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot...

by Anonymousreply 292February 26, 2019 8:27 PM

Geez Matt, if trump did nothing wrong then you shouldn't feel so threatened.

by Anonymousreply 293February 26, 2019 8:31 PM

R293 That's pretty blatant witness tampering... Also R279I remember the story about Kasich living with his chief of staff while in congress that R275 mentioned. It seems to me that there was some romance involved.

R297 Sounds as if Gaetz is trying to intimidate and blackmail a witness who is preparing to render sworn testimony. This parallels with winess tampering.

Gaetz is use to sliding on offensives, including prior DUIs. His dad had influence.

by Anonymousreply 301February 26, 2019 8:55 PM

R284, I live near the BMW plant and it's still very much open and running.

That said, I wouldn't be too such of big Trump victories here in SC. Dems did flip a seat in Congress, and I don't see many Trump not stickers around, at least not like I used to. Even though I'm in the Upstate (where Ms Lindsay is from), he's not that well liked. He's selling down on Trump's base, and even that is getting smaller here. But tying themselves so firmly to Trump, theyre slowly but surely sinking their own ship.

by Anonymousreply 302February 26, 2019 8:58 PM

Is Kevin McCarthy going to do anything to denounce Gaetz's behavior? Nope.

Gaetz could be charged for contempt of Congress and be censored. It won't happen. It is the era of Trump, and anything related to Trump gets a pass from Republicans, and too much of the media treats it as more theatrics than disdain.

by Anonymousreply 303February 26, 2019 9:07 PM

Gaetz is a closet case, no?

by Anonymousreply 304February 26, 2019 9:10 PM

Gaetz definitely has skeletons in his closet. What a creep. And considering he’s a Congressman, can’t the Democrats do something about him? Can he only be reprimanded by his own party?! Why is it up to McCarthy?

Gaetz is committing witness tampering. It’s clear, for fuck’s sake.

I am almost afraid someone will kill Cohen before he talks.

by Anonymousreply 341February 27, 2019 4:07 AM

Rachel was pretty great tonight.

Her immediate takeaway on the promised testimony: we're about to find out if the US still follows the rule of law.

One option Rachel floated is that prosecutors could go through negotiations with President Shithead quite similar to Agnew's in 1973. Where prosecutors finally agreed to drop all charges except one against Agnew in exchange for his immediate resignation.

[quote]Does he have protection for the drive in? I'm serious.

He could be charged with a felony for witness tampering but this is also grounds for disbarment. Feel free call the Florida Bar and file an official complaint.

The number is 1-866-352-0707. This is all public information but I figured it would be helpful to provide it for others. Thank you.

As to how it's going to play out, is this going to be the five minute at a time per questioner, alternating between Democrats and Repugs? Can they reopen lines of questioning after their time is up so the Democrats can call the Repugs on the bullshit they are going to throw out to try to cover Trumps ass?

Most importantly, will Lindsey run into the room, screaming incoherently and rending his clothing as a distraction?

UPDATE: Michael Cohen is expected to show a *2nd check* signed by Donald Trump Jr. and Trump Org. COO Weisselberg from March 1, 2017, which Cohen says was also installment for the hush money payments.

Maggie Haberman:

The second check was found in the last 72 hours, per a source familiar with the events. Cohen lawyers asked him about who made the payments and how. They also learned there never was a retainer agreement, as some Trump officials have said there was.

[quote]Then what?

What else? BENGHAZI!!!!

by Anonymousreply 396February 27, 2019 12:01 PM

Cohen is in the building, he arrived on the Hill. CNN's Gloria Borger obtained a copy of the check signed by TRUMP in 2017 to pay off Stormy. Cohen will also tell us Trump and Stone were in communication about Wiki Leaks, and that Donnie, Jr. came in to tell Trump the meeting was "all set" with the Russians at Trump Tower.

I'm going to be watching CNN for this because Toobin is excellent on legal analysis, and Gloria Borger is an excellent reporter/ analyst. I will pop in to MSNBC from time to time. Tonight, I'l be all over MSNBC.

Meanwhile Trump has asked that the United States Press Corp be blocked from attending his events with Kim, etc. including meetings. The White House grudgingly agreed to finally let one reporter in. Trump blocked them because they shouted out questions about Cohen this morning and he claimed they were attempting to embarrass and undermine him. It's ironic because it is always the United States that insists the media be allowed in the room and now he is the one blocking them.

We need to find enough Republican Senators to vote against the anticipated veto or the resolution to rescind the state of emergency. If we had enough to override, 2/3 that would send a message to Trump that if we can get the votes for this resolution curbing his power, we can also get the votes to convict him are potentially there.

by Anonymousreply 397February 27, 2019 12:54 PM

OK, if CNN persists in having assholes like David Axelrod on to comment, then I'm gone. Tapper & Wolf are on. I like them. But Not Axelrod. Axelrod was horrible in 2016. He hired on with CNN, and trashed Hillary every damned day with his snide, sarcastic remarks.

Mike Pence’s incoming Chief of Staff, Marc Short, attacked AIDS victims for ‘repugnant’ gay sex in college column:

Short, at the time, said he felt “sympathy” for ... people with AIDS. But, he added, “that does not mean that we glorify homosexuals' repugnant practices of frequent anal intercourse nor should we consider them brave for coming out of the closet.” Short concluded his column with a warning: “Homosexuals who pursue unhealthy lifestyles and engage in high risk sexual behavior, specifically anal intercourse, may very well end up like Mr. Wright." Ladies and gentlemen, the master negotiator at work:

The U.S. is no longer demanding that North Korea agree to disclose a full accounting of its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs as part of talks this week between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.

The decision to drop a significant component of a potential nuclear deal suggests a reality that U.S. intelligence assessments have stressed for months is shaping talks as they progress: North Korea does not intend to fully denuclearize, which is the goal Trump set for his talks with Kim.

These negotiations never have been about national security. Now, more than ever, they are about Trump burnishing his image and his brand, so he can claim to be a peace maker of epic proportions which he can flaunt his diplomatic accomplishments in the 2020 election and maybe even get a Nobel Prize (or at least a nomination) in the process.

They get indicted for crimes like Hunter, or Jordan being involved with the OSU sex scandal, and they think they're teflon. They believe they're above the Law. They've become brazen because they want to be like Trump. He's their Viagra. So I want to see them frog marched in cuffs out of the capitol by federal marshals, and face the strong possibility they might go to jail. They may have all their assets stripped, and their pensions rescinded.

by Anonymousreply 461February 28, 2019 7:05 AM

Great article r460! This was a vivid look into the chronic ward of the prion disease that has eaten away the higher functions of American conservatism—and, thus, those of the Republican Party as well—since Ronald Reagan first served up the monkey brains almost 40 years ago. These are the complete creatures of the talk-show culture, the perfect products of two and three generations of gerrymandered in-breeding. These are the monsters from inside The Bubble. You could see this moment coming during the Obama years, in which the country returned the two worst Congresses in American history, full to the gunwales with Bible-banging crazy people. Sooner or later, this was going to be all that was left, and it was going to have to confront a serious crisis with unserious people. That's what Wednesday was about.

by Anonymousreply 462February 28, 2019 9:33 AM

by Anonymousreply 473February 28, 2019 3:55 PM

Second, I doubt Cohen is lying about not wanting a job in the Administration. There's no reason for him to lie about something like that at this point.

by Anonymousreply 513March 1, 2019 12:28 AM

For those of us who didn't see Rachel tonight, will someone who did be kind enough to explain what she revealed about Trump?

by Anonymousreply 532March 1, 2019 2:30 AM

R526 has a tangential point. Only one thread features Miss Lindsey's face and name in the thread pic and title. Posters don't want to risk inflaming the control freak, in Chris Crocker-type style, exclaiming, "leave Miss Lindsey alone!" Compromise, feature Miss Lindsey every third treason thread.

by Anonymousreply 533March 1, 2019 2:31 AM

[quote]The best part of the windup tonight was learning it was Trump who rented the property to Ghadaffi in 2006.

Can someone make a greatest hits reel of all his hypocritical business deals—starting with his deals with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Baku—and just play them over and over on every news channel until even the Republicans have to admit he's anti-American or (more likely) admit that they're anti-American themselves?

by Anonymousreply 534March 1, 2019 2:32 AM

Gym Jordan is the scrappy little guy who will do anything to fit in.

Even if that meant turning a blind eye to men, more powerful and higher status, who were sexually abusing boys.

He was probably the guy in the wet jockstrap with the drum of lube on his back in the bath house days...

by Anonymousreply 535March 1, 2019 2:44 AM

What the fuck did anyone catch Lawrence ODonnell did Hanity just lead Trump to say that Cohen told Sean Hannity that he paid the checks to hush up the porn stars??

by Anonymousreply 536March 1, 2019 3:07 AM

R533, you can listen to the podcast of Rachel's show on iTunes or most other podcast apps. Download one and give it a try.

I listen to her show every night on the way home from work.

by Anonymousreply 539March 1, 2019 3:44 AM

This fucking disaster we find ourselves in is the blame of the bothsiders. repugs have always been sociopaths. The bothsiders are the ones who made and continue to make their criminality (to put it mildly) pay off. To be clear, bothsiders, or the concept, was likely hatched in a right wing think tank. In order to get away with as much brazen shit as they can, they must have a large swath of the public believe "both sides" are equally as bad or to blame.

And here we are..........

President Trump called @mattgaetz last night from Hanoi to talk the Cohen testimony and the threats (since rescinded) Gaetz made about Cohen.

"I was happy to do it for you. You just keep killing it," Gaetz was heard telling him. (Gaetz told me he doesn't discuss calls w/POTUS)

Cohen is coming back next Wednesday.. because what he said in the closed Intelligence Committee hearing was so.... interesting.

Something related to, among other things, suborning perjury.

Lanny Davis won't say anything further.

by Anonymousreply 551March 1, 2019 4:13 AM

I thought we already knew about the clearances thing.

Wasn’t that a story about a year back?

What am I missing?

by Anonymousreply 552March 1, 2019 4:21 AM

Me, too, R553. Is it something we were talking about here that hadn't reached the mainstream or something?

by Anonymousreply 553March 1, 2019 4:24 AM

A year ago it was not known that Trump directed an employee of the issuing panel to issue clearances to JaIvanka.

The employee who would not issue the defective and unwarranted clearances was fired.

She, I believe, has filed suit.

This is fairly recent.

by Anonymousreply 554March 1, 2019 4:24 AM

I could have sworn...

by Anonymousreply 555March 1, 2019 4:26 AM

It wasn't a year ago but this was discussed a while back. I think it is just coming back up because they now have an official memo from Kelly about him being against it.

by Anonymousreply 556March 1, 2019 4:31 AM

We're getting into this weird territory in the news where brand new information comes out - and it sounds exactly like something else that came out 1 year, two years ago. The sheer overwhelming volume of shit coming out every day doesn't help that.

by Anonymousreply 557March 1, 2019 4:39 AM

I wonder if anyone will get indicted. today...?

by Anonymousreply 558March 1, 2019 5:04 AM

I think this is the story we're thinking about concerning the Kushner clearance story being something we've discussed before. It's from a little over a month ago which, in Trump disaster time, feels like fucking years.

R560 Yes, but the new information is that Kelly and McGahn both wrote contemporaneous notes to document the process and to be able to state that they had objections. Comey and McCabe also wrote contemporaneous notes after their meetings with Trump. Unfortunately, the president has the power to grant security clearances. He has the ultimate power to declassify information as well. What I'm hearing is there isn't any legal jeopardy here for Trump other than his continued efforts to go against any recommendations for the Intelligence Community. It certainly doesn't speak well of Jared that he can't get a normal clearance or of the president to not take national security seriously. What it basically spells out is the Jared is compromised and shouldn't be anywhere near classified info. And that Trump favors family over country always. Jared has to stay in administration as he was tasked with getting as much $$$ out of the government for Trump as possible.

by Anonymousreply 560March 1, 2019 5:31 AM

I would love it if tomorrow started off with an indictment with the catalyst having been Cohen's testimony.

I know we've only had power for a little over a month but I'm starting to get fits! Take em out, already!!! Everything just seems to be talk, talk, talk so far. When do we get them dragging unwilling Trump associates before these committees to publicly testify? There's so much shit that they've got to get going or we'll all be dead for five years before they get done!

by Anonymousreply 566March 1, 2019 6:36 AM

I have to say, I am always stunned to read George Conway’s Tweets about all this. He’s at it several times a day, every day. He HATES Trump. It’s fascinating. How in the hell is he Kellyanne’s husband? I mean, how does TRUMP reconcile this?

What is going ON? It doesn’t make sense that Trump would tolerate someone working that close to him whose spouse denigrates him and makes predictions about the legal jeopardy he’s in. It’s completely out of character for Trump to put up with George and, by association, Kellyanne.

by Anonymousreply 569March 1, 2019 6:52 AM

It's been covered several times throughout these threads. George is giving Kellyanne cover. That's all.

In an exclusive interview on MSNBC’s The Beat, the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, David Kelley, made news by stating that the office he used to run may legally indict a sitting President, if warranted by a serious charge, regardless of a DOJ policy memo suggesting the opposite. That issue has been a major controversy as Michael Cohen details the SDNY’s probe into Trump, and Kelly also says if new allegations against Trump ally David Pecker are true, the SDNY could cancel his immunity deal.
