True, the hate and just overall weird comments he receives (like the person who told him to leave his wife for Timothee) are over the top. I wonder whether some of it has to do with Luca and Aciman and James Ivory apparently not seeing eye to eye on a script or a plot for the sequel. I don't think his wording was that harsh when he said there was no current (at the time) Super hero film that made him wish he was a part of it. I like a lot of SH films but I take them for what they are and it sure isn't high art. I think he's been somewhat measured with his words when it comes to the approach of Indi vs blockbuster films, and despite what is being said, he never said that he didn't want to be a part of that world again in the future as far as I am aware.

Also Batman is a free fanchise to print money. None of them since 89 has been a financial disaster (except maybe Batman and Robin, not sure on that one). I think you could plug any actor in there and it would do well. It'll be interesting to see who they pick cause none of the names out there are bankable..

At this point I would really only like him in the role cause I like what Matt Reeves did with the Apes films, so I think he could churn out a quality Batman film.
