I wonder if he'll come to the Capitol with a small military force and then push his way onto the floor.

by Anonymousreply 19January 23, 2019 7:36 PM

So I guess earlier posters were right about the possibility of 22 congressman being indicted. Turns out 22 of them opposed barring President Trump from exiting NATO.

22 of them are under Putin's control. and that's just the House!

by Anonymousreply 21January 23, 2019 7:40 PM

Oh, I don't think it's Trump and Giuliani that are threatening Cohen. I think this comes from above, from Putin.

by Anonymousreply 22January 23, 2019 7:43 PM

R20, excellent they identified themselves. Now the press and people can start to investigate them.

by Anonymousreply 23January 23, 2019 7:44 PM

The irony is Cohen used to be the one who threaten other people for Trump! The circle of jerks!

by Anonymousreply 24January 23, 2019 7:49 PM

Not your best title. Try harder next time.

by Anonymousreply 25January 23, 2019 7:50 PM

I mean, Putin literally poisons and kills people in almost full view and gets away with it. Imagine the threats that are coming to Cohen and others.

by Anonymousreply 26January 23, 2019 7:51 PM

Maduro blocks relations with the US, expels US diplomats.

R27 Trump is essentially legitimizing a "colored revolution" type coup in another country. He's rolling his dice. If it works he can claim the credit. If it doesn't he will denounce the suppression. He is playing with people's lives but we know that has never stopped him in his egomaniacal pursuit of self glory.

by Anonymousreply 32January 23, 2019 7:57 PM

Putin is friends with the current Venezuelan regime. Maybe Trump traded Syria for Venezuela?

by Anonymousreply 33January 23, 2019 7:59 PM

R33 There's no real friends in geopolitics... only you and the other countries you can manipulate. Going after Venezuela takes the heat off Russia-gate for a bit. It's just distraction... probably won't even amount to much. The Venezuelan regime only has a problem if the army changes side.

by Anonymousreply 34January 23, 2019 8:05 PM

OP, ignore the cunt at r25, your newest thread title is fine.

by Anonymousreply 35January 23, 2019 8:05 PM

R35 Postpone is the keyword... the word du jour! Very apropriate!

by Anonymousreply 36January 23, 2019 8:07 PM

Brilliant title yet again, OP. Very timely, between Nancy and Cohen.

by Anonymousreply 37January 23, 2019 8:27 PM

Nancy is bringing true power back to the House and the Legislative Branch.

by Anonymousreply 38January 23, 2019 8:31 PM

Maggie Haberman:

Potus says Cohen is afraid of talking about other clients as well. What?

Trump insinuating Cohen was going to talk about...Hannity?

by Anonymousreply 39January 23, 2019 8:49 PM

CNN's Jeremy Herb:

Rep. Stephen Lynch, a senior member of the Oversight Committee, says he expects Cummings will issue a subpoena for Cohen's testimony.

Lynch said that he's spoken with Cummings, and the "overwhelming consensus" among panel members is that Cohen should be subpoenaed.

by Anonymousreply 40January 23, 2019 8:52 PM

So, the rotting orange pisspot in the White House has moved on from threatening a woman he was intimate with to threatening an entire family! What an utter piece of shit he continues to prove he is.

by Anonymousreply 41January 23, 2019 8:52 PM

R25 try harder at your trolling game. You'll never earn a full ration with that pathetic attempt.

by Anonymousreply 42January 23, 2019 8:55 PM

R41 I remember Trump's thugs threatened Stormy's kid, too. Was Cohen involved in that as well?

by Anonymousreply 43January 23, 2019 8:56 PM

That's right, R43. I forgot he'd already threatened a child, along with a woman. Thank you.

His little mushroom button must have twitched, threatening an entire family, this time!

by Anonymousreply 44January 23, 2019 9:00 PM

It's funny that even after Nancy making a fool out of him twice... he still doesn't have a nickname for her.

by Anonymousreply 45January 23, 2019 9:01 PM

Fox News is on (not my choice) and they just showed Dotard blaming Nancy for cancelling his speech and saying she's destroying the constitution and using fake reasons (security) to do so....

And this idiot who's commenting is saying he's thankful to Dotard for doing this because we don't need a State of the Union and just like the Correspondent's Dinner, it's great he's cancelling these things because it's excess and the country doesn't need them.

Uh... so which is it? Is it Nancy's fault and she's trying to destroy the Constitution by not allowing him a State of the Union --- or is Dotard a hero for supposedly doing away with it?

Jesus, Rethugs are stupid.

by Anonymousreply 46January 23, 2019 9:04 PM
he still doesn't have a nickname for her.

He doesn't do that with people who intimidate him. He doesn't have one for Mueller either.

by Anonymousreply 47January 23, 2019 9:05 PM

R45 What's in the Constitution: Checks and Balances among the three branches of government! The Speaker has the obligation to counter a President behaving badly and irresponsibly.

by Anonymousreply 48January 23, 2019 9:10 PM

Every day, I just keep hoping for a stroke or a heart attack.

by Anonymousreply 49January 23, 2019 9:58 PM

R49 Further proof thoughts and prayers do NOT work!

by Anonymousreply 50January 23, 2019 10:06 PM

Do we have any sense of what threats have been made to Cohen's family? Is it what Trump and Giuliani said on TV and in tweets or is there something else/more?

by Anonymousreply 51January 23, 2019 10:08 PM

R51 What's puzzling is why is the FBI/law enforcement not be all over this if the accusation is being reported so publicly. Threatening someone and his family for testifying to Congress is very much illegal. Even if it's a Trump surrogate (which Cohen himself once was) was doing the threatening, he or she should be arrested/investigated immediately.

by Anonymousreply 52January 23, 2019 10:14 PM

Why can't the fat orange fuck just DIE?!?

by Anonymousreply 53January 23, 2019 10:15 PM

r51....Just Trump bringing up Cohens father in law is intimidation....he basically alluded to the FIL being guilty of crimes...since there are no known charges it also becomes a veiled threat.

SIDE NOTE....RIGHT NOW ON aRI mELBER....jEROME cORSI, sAM nUNBERG, cARTER pAGE AND mICHAEL cAPUTO.....

by Anonymousreply 54January 23, 2019 10:17 PM
R45: It's funny that even after Nancy making a fool out of him twice... he still doesn't have a nickname for her.

He says he calls her “Nancy”, R45. Do you think someone should tell him that’s actually her name?

Ok, first name only is still disrespectful. Maybe he should just be disinvited completely?

by Anonymousreply 55January 23, 2019 10:18 PM

The world should just recognize Nancy Pelosi as US Interim President. This thing is gonna get ugly. Trump is a cornered rat. If he gives in, he's as good as dead politically. If he doesn't, both he and the GOP will have to face the wrath of the people. Protests are already starting to gain momentum.

by Anonymousreply 56January 23, 2019 10:33 PM

And his poll numbers slide into Oblivion, r56.

And this is without anything from Mueller or Cohen.

Just think how low he can go when we see those tax returns and indictments.

by Anonymousreply 57January 23, 2019 10:44 PM

There is no easier way to get people angry at you than hitting their pocket books. Trump is being extremely stupid with this prolonged shutdown, but we all know he is stupidity personified. He got pampered and kowtowed to for 2 years by the GOP Congress and has no idea bullying will not work with a hostile House.

by Anonymousreply 58January 23, 2019 10:44 PM
He says he calls her “Nancy”

Funnily enough, that’s also his nickname for Miz Lindsey.

by Anonymousreply 59January 23, 2019 10:50 PM

Trump has no nickname for neither Pelosi, Mueller nor Putin. The three he fears.

by Anonymousreply 60January 23, 2019 11:00 PM

R52, I’ve thought about that too. And the only answer I can come up with is that he’s POTUS. He’s committing these crimes right out in the open AND let’s face it, the POTUS gets special treatment. We’ve never before had a POTUS completely vandalize, abuse, and shit upon every single norm and tradition. Because the POTUS has certain Executive Privileges, each event has to be individually scrutinized according to POTUS’ unique privileges within the parameters of the Law. It’s complicated.

The shorter answer is that none of us were ready for this, including the FBI and our Constitution. Fortunately, we are adapting at lightening speed.

by Anonymousreply 61January 23, 2019 11:01 PM

I met with a CIO from DHS today who said Trump is playing 3 dimensional chess. I almost laughed in his face but couldn't unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 62January 23, 2019 11:07 PM

If Trump has to deliver the SoU somewhere else, he is going to look castrated by Madam Speaker. I love it.

by Anonymousreply 63January 23, 2019 11:12 PM

R62 Well, maybe throwing shit at a blowing fan is 3 dimensional chess to a stupid rich buffoon who has no idea how real people's lives are affected by missing paychecks.

by Anonymousreply 64January 23, 2019 11:13 PM

I wish some stray Venezuelan would just off him, already.

by Anonymousreply 65January 23, 2019 11:14 PM

Did anyone watch those four criminal assholes on Ari. I couldn’t bear to watch. Did they say anything of interest? Or just lies?

by Anonymousreply 66January 23, 2019 11:17 PM

R62, when people say things like that, I give a neutral response that only those in-the-know understand. “Well, that’s an interesting perspective.” Uh-huh. Dumb fuck.

by Anonymousreply 67January 23, 2019 11:18 PM

I wish a hungry gator would emerge from a pond on the golf course on the "Winter White House" and gobble his fat ass up!

by Anonymousreply 68January 23, 2019 11:19 PM

R62, my “dumb fuck” was not for you, but my imagined Deplorable.

by Anonymousreply 69January 23, 2019 11:28 PM

"Radicalized democrat" is this year's "nasty woman" - we need t shirts! I think trumps cheetoh dust sprayer must be furloughed he looked very pale today.

by Anonymousreply 70January 23, 2019 11:55 PM

I'm over Ari. To me having those people on was just sensationalism. And we sure as shit don't need to hype this mess. I mean if someone came to you with the outline of a novel or screenplay about this shit would you go for it? It's implausible.

by Anonymousreply 71January 23, 2019 11:56 PM

I predict when the shutdown protests start to gain attention. The protesters would clearly be angry with Trump but the media will report they are anger at both sides!

by Anonymousreply 72January 23, 2019 11:59 PM

The best part of my week was watching that smirky catholic douche show off his JANKY ass teeth on NBC. Haha his parents should have spent that PR firm money on some braces.

by Anonymousreply 73January 24, 2019 12:04 AM

Something about Ari is insincere IMO. He has a really high opinion of himself. Sort of conceited. Also he's an ass kisser. Now, granted the people whose asses Ari usually kisses are VIP Liberal Legal scholars with a stellar reputation, some even legends in their own time. And he is so impressed with himself for sitting there with them. It's not the same as Chris Cuomo who has that enormous ego and loves to hang with Giuliani and Kelly Ann, and act like an asshole.

my favorite Legal guy is Toobin. I've read a couple of his books, also read Tapper's book on the 2000 election. Toobin is IMO the smartest of the three.

by Anonymousreply 74January 24, 2019 12:07 AM

The media can be critiqued when it's all over. If they "both sides" the escalating anger over the shutdown out of a fear of upsetting conservatives, then they have absolutely no use whatsoever.

by Anonymousreply 75January 24, 2019 12:12 AM

You know this stuff writes itself. If the news media just reports the unvarnished facts, just tells us what has happened, then it would be very clear there's not a "both sides." When you're wrong, your wrong. Trump wanted this shutdown for its own sake. It backfired on him. He thought he could bully and bypass Pelosi. He can't. He thought he could divide the Dems. Instead it's his own party's elected House & Senate members who are peeling off to go with Schumer and Pelosi. He is fucked. And MC Connell is fucked with him. He is opening up the floor to debate two bills tomorrow, but they re both doomed to fail. When the fuck is Mitch going to realize the time to play games is over. The people are sick of him and his bullshit. He needs to be expelled.

by Anonymousreply 76January 24, 2019 12:21 AM

Being feared only works when you're not hated. Something Mitch is learning.

by Anonymousreply 77January 24, 2019 12:27 AM

Sorry, what I mean is that Mitch being hated is now far more a factor than Mitch being feared. Lousy lack of an edit button.

This is the Republican Party MO, on the 2011 shutdown:

“What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming,” explained Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

What's wrong with these people?

by Anonymousreply 89January 24, 2019 1:58 AM

R66, I started to watch them, but they made my skin crawl so much I had to change the channel after a few minutes.

I cannot fathom what made Ari waste a second of his show on these confirmed liars, criminals, and traitors. The only thing I enjoy about his show anymore is when Mya Wiley is on. I wish MSNBC would shitcan Ari and give her his timeslot.

by Anonymousreply 90January 24, 2019 1:58 AM

Moscow Mitch has (for the fourth time) denied a Senate vote to reopen the government. Surprised?Oh! get this......

"Len Blavatnik donated $3.5 million to Mitch McConnell's PAC from 2015 to 2017.

Ukrainian-born billionaire Len Blavatnik, who holds dual U.S.-U.K. citizenship, used to be a fairly run-of-the-mill campaign contributor, donating relatively modest amounts in a bipartisan fashion — and then the 2016 election cycle hit.

Beginning in 2015, Blavatnik lavished contributions on Republicans, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell alone on the receiving end of $3.5 million between 2015 and 2017."

Also on the list of Russian gifts are Rubio and Graham...........The more the Senator gives gloating statements on Trump, and the more they defend him, the more suspect they are to Russian Money for their campaigns....

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 91January 24, 2019 2:03 AM

Do all of these Russian donations only go for campaign costs or can they be used for his personal expenses?

Anyway this shutdown is going to last forever..and i mean months or until the Mueller report is released.

by Anonymousreply 92January 24, 2019 2:08 AM

No, r92, as soon as the mouth breathing rednecks don't get their tax refunds, the shit will hit the fan.

And that day is fast approaching. W2's have to be issued by the end of January.

Most people file as soon as they get their w2's. The biggest filing weekend starts on February 15, 2019. If refunds aren't going out (or going out at a turtle's pace because IRS employees aren't being paid), there will be screaming like you have never heard.

And his approval numbers will go down into the low 30's and he will effectively be over.

Deplorables don't GAF now because they personally haven't been hit. But if they can't get refunds, they will be pissed.

by Anonymousreply 93January 24, 2019 2:20 AM

Wow. Trump just showed Frankie Five Angels his Sicilian brother in the gallery.

And the witness caved.

I just forwarded a screen shot of r83 to several friends, I am tickled pink by Mother’s good taste!!

I agree, the vast majority of Americans use their tax refund as part of their actual annual budget — it isn’t a “bonus,” it’s a planned for, relief upon source of income for families. Let’s see how much these shitheels like it when daddy takes their treat away. Also, I’m really starting to realize, yes, propaganda IS powerful, but it also only goes so far and has some limitations. There is such a thing as a tipping point, or a “bullshit plateau.” I mean, just how hard can Fox and Rush and Coulter and Hannity spin this shit? At the end of the day, NO REFUND. I suspect even the most devout Deplorables and church-goers will start realizing that they’re getting it up the no-no.

If that's true, how far behind can delays/stop-payments in SSI benefits be? You can't tell me a good portion of the Red-Neck, Trailer-Park, Faux News watching Trumpster crowd aren't on the receiving end of those benefits. All KINDS OF HELL is gonna be raised if those benefits don't make it through the mail.

by Anonymousreply 101January 24, 2019 3:25 AM

r101 But how many of them will just direct their anger at Nancy instead? They compartmentalize everything this fucker does. There is zero accountability with the repugs. The media will always find a way to play bothsiderism. Until that stops, the repugs will never be held accountable. The midterms did a good job but had they not gerrymandered the hell out of the country, the bloodbath would have been off the charts.

See I want the Democrats to release hard data instead of Mulvaney getting his list. Hard fucking data. Because Mulvaney and the rest of that cabal are really looking at their lists from department to department to see what can be permanently eliminated and what can be privatized permanently. This shutdown is part of a larger strategy to dismantle our government. It's a goal the Extreme Right and the Kochs have been working towards for years. Starving government with ridiculous tax cuts was step one. And just wait until Medicare and Social Security are affected. Of course when our economy is slowing down that will definitely affect Social Security. These are rotten fuckers. We need to go after the Senate and McConnell right now and demand a real vote.

Rupert Murdoch's Fox News has gotten more extreme with propaganda. A few there such as Sheppard Smith, Chris Wallace, and Judge Napolitano, have indicated this appeal to the far- right with Trumpian allegiance using distorted facts, is problematic.

Also, one of Cohen's few 'clients' was Sean Hannity. Some of that intimidation effort on Cohen may directly relate to that.

by Anonymousreply 144January 24, 2019 2:41 PM

I wonder how much was really there re: intimidation on Cohen. Was it just the comment about his father-in-law? Some pundit was saying if that was what he was referring to there wouldn't be much of a case for anyone to claim obstruction or witness tampering.

Was it all just to get out of testifying at all? The same pundits were saying it's now unlikely he'll reschedule and instead just go straight to prison.

With the threats against Cohen’s family members, Giuliani, on behalf of his client, is engaged in blatant witness obstruction/witness tampering.

At a bare [italic] minimum, [/italic] someone ought to file a grievance against Giuliani with the New York State Bar Association.

Let them tell the public whether this is acceptable conduct for NY attorneys.

by Anonymousreply 177January 24, 2019 5:42 PM

This ^. That would be the most simple way to address Rudy’s behavior, bring him up for disbarment. Clean and simple.

by Anonymousreply 178January 24, 2019 5:47 PM

The Senate Intel Committee may interview Cohen in closed session, or at least part of it. While the Republicans are the majority, there are some good members on that Committee, and they have long been working together systematically, and don't display disturbing conflicts before the media and public.

The House Oversight and Judiciary Committees can still subpoena Cohen. They may want to do so soon, because Cohen is due to report to prison during March, 2019. While the House Democrats have the majority on these committees, there is Devin Nunes and his cohorts on the House Judiciary Committee that will STILL report and coordinate with Trump throughout the process.

In a closed Senate Intel session, Senators will not be playing for the camera, and will feel less need to show partisanship. That may extract more details from Cohen, and probing questions will get asked and have him on record. I don't view the Senate Intel Committee going first as problematic. That's certainly better than a no-show.

by Anonymousreply 179January 24, 2019 5:56 PM

R179 What information could the Senate get from Cohen that Mueller hasn't? The whole point of a House public hearing is to reveal all the dirt to the public directly straight from the horse's mouth, and essentially sidestep the issue of DOJ trying to conceal the result of Mueller's investigation.

by Anonymousreply 182January 24, 2019 6:06 PM

Miz Lindz needs a makeover.

by Anonymousreply 183January 24, 2019 6:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 185January 24, 2019 6:17 PM

R180, It can be done to subpoena individuals in federal prison. It's another layer of bureaucracy to deal with it. The federal Bureau of Prisons will have clear it administratively to transport him from wherever he is placed. A Democratic Senator on the Committee was saying today it can be done, but is more complicated. Locked-up, the feds own him for the time.

by Anonymousreply 186January 24, 2019 6:19 PM

She is committing political/career suicide by supporting Trumpinski...I wouldn't be at all surprised if she committed actual suicide once her closet full of secrets is opened .

by Anonymousreply 215January 24, 2019 11:14 PM

r215 She is assuring her secrets never come out by her sudden, drastic change in behavior. They allow her to criticize every now and again to keep up appearances but she is full on crazy now. She should know Russia will never stop making her do crazy shit now.

by Anonymousreply 216January 24, 2019 11:20 PM

I find AOC likeable. I don't agree with several of her stated political views, and needs to become more seasoned with the operational functions of Congress; but she flings back the shit tossed her by her critics and can do so humorously and piercingly. Then, she reacts as if it doesn't bother her. We need someone like that in Congress.

I'd recommend to her to expend her attacks on Republicans, and not get into open disputes with fellow Democrats when such is not necessary.

by Anonymousreply 217January 24, 2019 11:20 PM

r217 I do like her abilities to give it back to them with finesse but I am keeping an eye on her.

Well, maybe R224, assuming you are not R219. It's the guy trying to perpetuate the Pelosi-AOC conflict.

R219 Pelosi was not mentioned in my post. I was referencing AOC. You made a false assumption with zero basis. You chose to try to generate a flawed connection and I called you out on it. I am a regular poster and have few posts on Pelosi, and they are fundamentally very positive. Again, I'll take the bet. Place your wager. Rubles, Alt-right dollars, what you offering?

by Anonymousreply 225January 24, 2019 11:46 PM

It's quite clear that trolls try to establish negative buzz around AOC hoping it will stick and people will see her in a negative way by default.

With the Roger Stone news, this momentous story from last night is getting pushed aside:

Jared Kushner's application for a top secret clearance was rejected by two career White House security specialists after an FBI background check raised concerns about potential foreign influence on him — but their supervisor overruled the recommendation and approved the clearance.

After Kline overruled the White House security specialists and recommended Kushner for a top secret clearance, Kushner's file then went to the CIA for a ruling on SCI.

After reviewing the file, CIA officers who make clearance decisions balked, two of the people familiar with the matter said. One called over to the White House security division, wondering how Kushner got even a top secret clearance, the sources said. Top secret information is defined as material that would cause "exceptionally grave damage" to national security if disclosed to adversaries.

There is a big difference between “spin”, and “lying”. The Trumps, and Fox, go way over the line. They’re just plain dishonest.

Spin is putting your best foot forward. I’ve done that in interviews. But you never lie in an interview. I’ve had interviewees who put technology on their resume that they knew nothing about. Maybe they heard about it. They embarrassed themselves when asked about it. You should have a story about everything on your resume, especially when you’re more experienced.

I don’t know why Fox and Trump get away with it. When you lie, your reputation does die, as far as I’m concerned.

by Anonymousreply 342January 25, 2019 6:16 PM

Trump just Signed the order/bill and said employees will get back-pay “very quickly”. How does he know? He actually doesn’t. That is a go-to word for him, along with “special”, to assure people that things are happening. I HATE the way he says it. Plus, it’s just empty talk.

by Anonymousreply 346January 25, 2019 6:37 PM

I think I was the one who asked what was going on with the Stone indictment a few days ago so just in case....

What's going on with the Jr. Mint indictments?

by Anonymousreply 347January 25, 2019 6:38 PM

Free Republic is currently in high-alert meltdown mode. They are not happy with this.

by Anonymousreply 348January 25, 2019 6:38 PM

God, I fucking LOVE Felony Fridays!

And it couldn't happen at a better time. That fat traitor is getting his orange ass kicked all over town. He wants to fly to MAGAt lardass and golf. Boo fucking hoo.

Make him stay in DC.

And pelosi won't give him the STOU until he cleans his fucking room. So he can forget that.

by Anonymousreply 349January 25, 2019 6:38 PM

So it will be the Ides of February when we have a national emergency? Please God a massive stroke strikes him down first.

by Anonymousreply 350January 25, 2019 6:39 PM

Do tell, r348!

by Anonymousreply 351January 25, 2019 6:39 PM

I find it really odd that he's just basically handed two victories in a row to Pelosi. Part of me wonders if this is some sort of strategy and not to get too excited but then I remember who we're talking about.

by Anonymousreply 352January 25, 2019 6:41 PM

Let’s ponder that r352. I heard reports that he’s telling people that becoming President was a mistake. He’s giving her victories. Is he giving up? I say yes.

by Anonymousreply 353January 25, 2019 6:43 PM

I just heard something really strange. I was listening to Progress Radio and Thom Hartman was on. I mentioned earlier that I don't really like listening to him because he's too much of a Bernie fan (in fact he had him on the show today).

Anyway, he basically just said that he believes with everything that has gone on either Hillary's camp, or even just a citizen, could file fraud charges against the Trump campaign and take it to the Supreme Court and if fraud is proven, the suit could demand that Dotard and Pence both be removed from office and that Nancy, or even Hillary (as the victim of the fraud) be put into office. Thom claimed that he has brought this up with several legal scholars and no one could deny that this could not happen as there's no legal precedence.

I don't know if I agree or believe that BUT what I found interesting was that he was even talking about this because 1) I haven't heard anyone willing to bring this up before (away from DL and other message boards. 2) I've always taken from Thom that he really dislikes Hillary and 3) He literally had Bernie on the show five minutes before he said this.

Screaming headline in DM: TRUMP CAVES ON WALL

by Anonymousreply 355January 25, 2019 6:51 PM

And the walls, come crumbling down, come tumbling, tumbling, tumbling down ...

by Anonymousreply 356January 25, 2019 6:57 PM

I agree that citizens can be doing many things to fight back instead of waiting for Mueller. His investigation is one tool in the belt, but we need others.

His idea is worth a shot.

But otherwise people need to stop acting like they have to take whatever shit is handed to them. This goes for corporations as well. So much power of these people is because average citizens don't fight back.

by Anonymousreply 357January 25, 2019 7:02 PM

by Anonymousreply 360January 25, 2019 7:29 PM

Hope Dana Bash is completely wrong. Junior Mint lied to Congress. He lied about the meeting with the Russians in Trump Tower. Jared did some sleazy stuff. DJT blatantly was blatantly obstructing.

If Mueller gives the 'family' a pass, that is not justice. A hand-slapping report won't cut it.

by Anonymousreply 361January 25, 2019 7:39 PM

Stone arrested. Trump caves. What a wonderful day.

by Anonymousreply 362January 25, 2019 7:53 PM

Do we think Bannon is about to be indicted too? He was working with Stone to get info on the Wikileaks dump

by Anonymousreply 363January 25, 2019 7:59 PM

I think the people closest to Trump for the longest time are coming last in the indictments. Stone's indictment means Mueller is narrowing the gap. So Donald Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner are going to be at the tail end because they'll be the ones Trump is most likely to try to pardon.

by Anonymousreply 364January 25, 2019 8:07 PM

Mueller is working his way up the ladder, getting each indicted figure to flip on the next one above. Today's indictment references "senior campaign" officials "directing" Stone to contact WikiLeaks for dirt on Hillary. So next Stone will rat those officials out (Jared, Don Jr, Bannon), who in turn will be indicted and turn on Trump Sr.

by Anonymousreply 365January 25, 2019 8:18 PM

and still no indictment on collusion with Russia

Why don't you start your own thread and see if it picks up steam?

Trump declares That “WE HAVE CHOICE” (we actually do) but to “build a POWERFUL wall” (what does that even mean?) or he will use his special powers to get it done. Like he’s in the Justice League or something.

by Anonymousreply 370January 25, 2019 8:58 PM

Boris at R366.

by Anonymousreply 371January 25, 2019 8:59 PM

R369 This won't stop with Roger. He's just the stepping stone to individuals at "high level in the Trump campaign" who gave him orders. Trump Jr. and Jared are next because there are simply no one else left. Trump will really blow his top when that happens. We are entering the final act.

Trump was even more explicit when he took a single question from a reporter later Friday afternoon.

'I think we have a good chance. We’ll work with the Democrats and negotiate and if we can’t do that, then we’ll do a – obviously we’ll do the emergency because that’s what it is. It’s a national emergency,' the president said

The short-term extension would continue current-year funding for wall repairs and fencing, at a rate of $1.3 billion for the year, CNN reported.

The president has continued to hint at other actions he could try to take unilaterally, including using emergency powers to build a wall.

by Anonymousreply 375January 25, 2019 9:13 PM

R373 Can you imagine Pence texting Stone using WhatsApp during the height of the campaign? Pence's crimes have more to do with his connection with Russian stooge Manafort (who selected Pence as VP in the first place) and his time in leading the Trump transition team.

by Anonymousreply 376January 25, 2019 9:17 PM

Free Republic guy sez:

"1) Trump get’s a Negotiated Wall or he’ll get an Emergency Order Wall. 2) Trump gets his State of the Union Adress in the House and gets to highlight his amazing accomplishments. 3) Trump has brilliantly exposed Dems as vile hypocrites and liars. 4) Trump is leading the process of re-opening the government on his terms. He’ll end the negotiations on his terms. 5) Trump will highlight during his SOTU Adress, the disgusting liberal media’s behaviour of smearing the innocent catholic kids - the very same media that supports open borders endangering our amazing nation. 6) Trump is demonstrating leadership above partisanship, principles over pettiness and the bitter vindictiveness of Nancy Pelosi. 7) Trump is RADICALLY improving his approval rating among Mexicans, Latinos, blacks and minorities who are disproportionately impacted by illegal immigration. 8) Trump has forced the Democratic Party to turn hard left, a turn that will for decades make them less attractive in our center-right nation. 9) Trump is inspiring and educating true conservatives on how to actually fight like hell, stand on principle, deliver on campaign promises and laugh in the media’s faces. 10) Trump has accomplished all this in just 2 years, in spite of losers like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, John McCain, and 98% of the Democrat-Media-Silicon Valley complex against him. 247 posted on 1/25/2019, 1:33:00 PM by RobaWho (I Love the U.S. Constitution, as written.)"
R375: The president has continued to hint at other actions he could try to take unilaterally, including using emergency powers to build a wall.

The Dems must be working on this. It’s got to be a court case if he thinks he can declare an emergency when Congress refuses to fund something, when that is explicitly explained in the Constitution as Congress’ job.

Trump has a terrible habit of bluffing. I say “terrible”, because he’s awful at it, such as here. That’s how he wants to make a deal, but he’s no good at it. He’s a terrible negotiator.

by Anonymousreply 382January 25, 2019 9:26 PM

Mike Pence is a pawn willing to be a pawn thinking he can outsmart everybody else because he has God on his side. He thinks that the GOP will protect him when they have to abandon Trump, but what he doesn't realize is that the GOP is in free fall, because Putin set them all up for his masterplan to create total chaos in the US. And what will create total chaos? The fall of the GOP establishment.

by Anonymousreply 383January 25, 2019 9:27 PM

by Anonymousreply 384January 25, 2019 9:39 PM

Trump and the Deplorables have accepted defeat. They know the wall is not going to happen. They know that Trump will not get it pushed through with any executive order even if right wing leaning SCOTUS is the deciding party in this epic tale.

by Anonymousreply 385January 25, 2019 9:45 PM

R385 It was never about the wall. It was just the GOP's Hail Mary political theater to put the screw on the new Dem House, and make the Dems submit. But the Dems formed a stronger political wall that the Trumpies couldn't scale. This sure backfired on their faces.

by Anonymousreply 386January 25, 2019 10:01 PM

Anyone who ever tries bothsiderism at this point will get the Batman slap. I saw on CNN that maybe now both sides will have incentive to negotiate and find a deal. You cannot negotiate from a standpoint of being willing to shutdown the govt. That is not how you run the govt. Ever. Give him ANYTHING he asks for that he is willing to shutdown the govt and he will do it every fucking time he (Putin)wants something.

Nancy outplayed him. He didn't "give" her any wins. She boxed his fatass in. He wanted that SOTU address sooooooo bad he caved. She played him expertly. Who didn't want her as Speaker?????????

by Anonymousreply 387January 25, 2019 10:12 PM

R386 Also this is not just Trump's defeat but also McConnell's defeat as well. The media will make Trump take the fall, while McConnell slithers away in the shadows. But we know there could never have been such a long shutdown without Trump and McConnell colluding together. Pelosi beat them both.

by Anonymousreply 388January 25, 2019 10:17 PM

If McConnell would have really wanted that wall he could have pushed it through when the GOP controlled both the House and the Senate.

The only thing McConnell can be blamed for is not acting when he had the chance and Deplorables have to ask themselves the uncomfortable question why he didn't push it through when he had the means when they sure as hell don't like the answer to that question.

by Anonymousreply 389January 25, 2019 10:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 452January 26, 2019 2:56 AM

R445 Bernie often voted with the Dems, so they assumed he was an ally and not a ideological threat, but that is exactly what he was. Hillary probably thought by beating him in the primaries, she could "co-opt" his supporters. A big mistake in retrospect. Turned out his core supporters are really cult members AKA Bernie Bros who kept harassing Dems long after the primaries.

by Anonymousreply 453January 26, 2019 3:19 AM

It's bound to happen. Big hubris eventually meets a great fall. Whoever advised him on this shutdown fiasco is gonna get an earful and hopefully get fired. Hoping it's WH sociopath Stephen Miller.

by Anonymousreply 459January 26, 2019 3:57 AM

R459, Jared, who can’t be fired, was heavily involved in this.

by Anonymousreply 460January 26, 2019 4:08 AM

They had a warrant for Stones house and also for his apartment in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 461January 26, 2019 4:54 AM

I am still convinced that most of the social media presence of Bernie Bros was created by Russian troll farms.

by Anonymousreply 462January 26, 2019 6:49 AM

I fucking hate Roger Stone's smugness. Everything is a fucking joke to him. I hope there are some state charges against him so he can't be pardoned.

by Anonymousreply 463January 26, 2019 7:09 AM

Weren't all of them defiant and flippant when first indicted? Now Manafort is gonna die in jail and Cohen is throwing Trump under the bus.

by Anonymousreply 464January 26, 2019 7:21 AM

What would be in it for Dump to pardon Stone? Remember Cheeto never does anything for anyone other than himself. The idea that he would pardon Stone due to some kind of loyalty - even though it would do him no good politically - seems fanciful.

by Anonymousreply 465January 26, 2019 7:28 AM

R465 Trump prefers accomplices who don't get caught! He's a stone cold narcissist. He saving the pardons for his own family (maybe).

by Anonymousreply 466January 26, 2019 7:35 AM

Corsi needs to go to prison. But I don't think he's next. Jr.

by Anonymousreply 467January 26, 2019 7:56 AM

McConnell needs to go next.

He’s disrupting government continually.

by Anonymousreply 468January 26, 2019 8:27 AM

Call me a crazy douchebag, but if this brings down the GOP establishment and the shady lobby system (NRA, for example) for good then it was all worth it (the last two to three years). Because these motherfuckers are the reason what's wrong with America right now. Without them the 1% couldn't fuck the US and its people and enviroment over.

by Anonymousreply 469January 26, 2019 11:09 AM

R464, yep, that's been the pattern. I think they were drunk on Power Kool-Aid, in addition to being stupid and oblivious.

The Bannon connection is fascinating to me, because early on he was such a villain, but then scurried under the floorboards away from the light--except for stirring up shit in Europe of course. I thought he might have been too clever to implicate himself, but now it seems to be a possibility.

No Bernie or Gillibrand for me. Instead, I hope Warren, Klobuchar, or Harris win the Primaries. Beto as VP would be cool. And I nominate Mueller for sainthood.

by Anonymousreply 470January 26, 2019 1:38 PM

I hope Klobuchar announces she'll run.

by Anonymousreply 471January 26, 2019 1:43 PM

Fox is gosh awful in spinning for Stone. I don't watch Fox News, but Fox Insider headlines and related clips appear during political topic searches. Below is an example. This Martha MacCallum show acts like news, but is just the same propaganda as may be seen with Tucker, Pirro, etc. Lindsey Graham frequently cites his appearances on the show.

Here's Fox and McCallum having Michael Caputo as the authoritative source per Stone declaring "absolutely no linkage". Yes, THAT Michael Caputo. Of course Fox won't have anyone on that could refute or challenge those assertions, point by point.

Rupert Murdoch is never held to account.

You can never trust that crazy fucker, Roger...he lies constantly, just like Trump. Mueller could not trust him.

by Anonymousreply 473January 26, 2019 1:57 PM

Yes, I'm sure that will play into his defense. "He's such an inveterate liar, he can't distinguish between truth and falsehood anymore." "He truly believes the lies he says." The Manhattan Madam yesterday previewed another line of defense yesterday: "He's old and he can't remember things like he used to."

by Anonymousreply 474January 26, 2019 2:01 PM

Roger Stone is age 66. He ain't that old. He's younger than Robert Mueller who appears to comprehend Stone's behavior.

by Anonymousreply 475January 26, 2019 2:26 PM

I should know this, but can pathological lying be included in an insanity defense?

by Anonymousreply 476January 26, 2019 2:30 PM

No way r476, and here’s why. They have dozens and dozens and dozens of examples of them hiding their behavior with their lies, which is consciousness of guilt. Sure, it’s high-risk behavior, but they clearly knew it was wrong because they tried to hide it. That’s not insanity, it’s just evil.

by Anonymousreply 477January 26, 2019 2:42 PM

So, DJT's support is down to Fox/Newscorp, McConnell & cohorts, the Freedom Caucus in the House, NRA, Jared & Ivanka, Steve Miller, Alt-Right, Dana Bash types, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Evangelicals for profit industry, Putin & the oligarchs, 'let them eat cake' cabinet members and their spouses, and of course, paid yappers, DIAMOND & SILK that are suppose to rope in the African-American electorate.

For amusement and annoyance only:

by Anonymousreply 484January 26, 2019 3:11 PM
I fucking hate Roger Stone's smugness. Everything is a fucking joke to him.

That's always a very good sign of guilt. People like him usually take an "I'm not worried" attitude when they get arrested, show big smiles in their mug shots, because they delusionally think if they make it look like they're not guilty they won't be found guilty. It's not until the guilty verdict is read in court that all that bravado goes away real fast.

by Anonymousreply 485January 26, 2019 3:16 PM

If they act this casual it's a clear sign that they are terrified of looking as guilty as they are.

by Anonymousreply 486January 26, 2019 3:22 PM

Roger Stone's carefree attitude is a slicker version of that time Michael Cohen was hanging out with his friends and smoking cigars between court appearances. And we all saw how that turned out.

by Anonymousreply 487January 26, 2019 3:33 PM

So did Trump get ANYTHING more than was in the original offer five weeks ago? Did Nancy at least throw in a set of steak knives?
So did Trump get ANYTHING more than was in the original offer five weeks ago? Did Nancy at least throw in a set of steak knives?

He got nothing, and he weakened himself in the process. This "great negotiator" exposed himself in a way that even his ardent supporters now see that he has feet of clay. He looks like the incompetent boob that he has always been. It was foolish for many reasons to go into this with all bluster and bravado and absolutely nothing to back it up. Had anyone in the WH given this even a moment of thought, they would have realized how inevitable and predictable this outcome would be and how devastating it will become in the weeks and months ahead.

Whatever hastens his downfall is just fine.

And of course if Hillary hadn't been the scum she was they wouldn't have been forced to believe in him.

So this is how it might go with some folks... they'll finally get pissed off at him but take no responsibility for willingly following him and for proving themselves to be the morons that they are.

by Anonymousreply 497January 26, 2019 5:46 PM

LOL cretins. Nobody forced them to believe the Orange Turd.

They willingly and gleefully believed that Hillz is "da Devil" and so they believed the narcissist who enforced that belief. Now they wanna shoot the messenger so to speak.

by Anonymousreply 499January 26, 2019 6:01 PM

I think continually bringing up the FACT that he always said he would run as a Republican because they are dumber is a wonderful way to rub their noses in their own mess. I mean, what does that say about them lololol?!?!?? It PROVES they are dumb and that he took them.

by Anonymousreply 500January 26, 2019 6:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 504January 26, 2019 6:28 PM

It's interesting that even Ann Coulter doesn't go there to diss Trump for not "Draining The Swamp". It's all about breaking his promise to build that wall. But she's all about poor lower and middle class getting screwed by the conservative establishment on the latest episode of Bill Maher.

by Anonymousreply 505January 26, 2019 6:29 PM

R481 - “I thought living in Ft Lauderdale was bad enough - but 117th St. - WTF?”

481 - Your comment is obnoxious, and ill-informed.

You obviously know very little about Ft Lauderdale and Harlem. I live in a nice mid-rise condo located a block away from Lauderdale beach. Stone lives a few miles down the road in a waterfront home.

Stone’s apartment on 117 St in Harlem is located in a high-end neighborhood, as is most of Harlem nowadays, due to considerable gentrification.

by Anonymousreply 506January 26, 2019 6:33 PM

Coulter sounded like a down right ultra-liberal on Maher last night except for the racism.

by Anonymousreply 507January 26, 2019 6:33 PM

by Anonymousreply 512January 26, 2019 7:01 PM

It's too bad the media has taken to quoting Coulter again. I haf hoped she was fading away.

She's certainly taken the hot air on the wall away from Laura Ingraham. Do they coordinate who's on first?

Coulter's shtick on Maher's show is the same as what Tucker Carlson has been peddling lately, so they're trying to play faux populist. There's not a sincere bone in either of their bodies.

by Anonymousreply 513January 26, 2019 7:36 PM

I'd argue there's a separate camp from deplorables, the straight-up ignorant. I was buying groceries and heard one cashier say to the other, "... that's why they wanted someone like him, who can handle money."

by Anonymousreply 514January 26, 2019 7:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 515January 26, 2019 8:11 PM

In 2020 the Democrats should use the slogan "Make America Great Again - Now More than Ever!"

by Anonymousreply 516January 26, 2019 8:13 PM

With regard to R354, interestingly enough I just found out that there is a precedent for doing as he suggested.

Apparently in PA there was an issue in a Senate Race where the Democratic Candidate committed fraud and the courts put the loser of the election into office because of the fraud.
The way it was supposed to work is that a Senator should have taken up one of the many objections made by House Members for the electoral vote. In the supposed interest of "peaceful transfer of power" Joe Biden shut down all debate and would not allow any Senators to allow investigations into the election to go forward in the Senate. He closed the session without hearing objections and the Electoral College voted before having all the information they needed to make sure the election was legitimate.

by Anonymousreply 517January 26, 2019 8:14 PM

Ann Coultergeist was rather fetching in her low-cut shroud and snappy kitten heels last night on Bill Maher. Until she started spewing her bile which Bill did little to counter. by Anonymousreply 540January 26, 2019 10:50 PM

Mueller may indict (perhaps sealed) DJT as a co-conspirator with existing and perhaps indictments soon to come, i. e. Junior Mint, Jared, maybe a few others. As co-conspirator in indictments on the same/similar charges, DJT pardoning them would be problematic even though he could try to pardon himself first, which would ultimately be contested before the U.S. Supreme Court, and would certainly generate the impeachment endeavor if it is not already formally underway by that time. Or, Trump could offer to resign if Pence promised to pardon him and family members. Of course, that's assuming Pence, himself, escapes charges.

My belief is that AG nominee Barr will really be there to protect Pence, McConnell, and a few other members of Congress from being snared....thus not meddling with Mueller's indictments of Trump's inner circle of collaborators, but protect the broader network of House/Senate figures and a couple of Governors, whose PACs got big contributions from oligarchs tied to Putin. Barr's record is very pro-NRA, and I wouldn't dismiss that he would keep procecutors from probing deeper there.

They are big stupid boastful mobsters (okay Stone ain't stupid, but ...), who love to scream about how loyal and tough they are about five minutes before turning. Seriously, instead of pundits, we need actual mobsters on TV predicting how soon any of these bitches fold. They actually know about this shit.

by Anonymousreply 576January 27, 2019 3:23 AM

People like those guys at R575 *should* spend some time in a totalitarian state. That would fix their wagons.

by Anonymousreply 577January 27, 2019 3:24 AM

R574 and that's exactly what we have to look forward to. They're all going to end up flipping on each other.

I still maintain that no one will flip on each other more than the Drumpfs themselves. I can't wait. I also still maintain that Ivanka and Jared will both sell each other out, if they haven't already.

by Anonymousreply 578January 27, 2019 3:24 AM

R578 I agree except I would bet the one too stupid to flip on anyone would be Junior Mint. He'll go on to the bitter end thinking Daddy will save him, and of course, Dear Daddy won't. Instead he'll let Junior go to prison thinking that will be the end of it all.

by Anonymousreply 579January 27, 2019 3:26 AM

R575 and yet they got offended that HRC called them Deplorable.

Newsflash, she was right... just like she was right about everything else that ever came out of her damn mouth.

by Anonymousreply 580January 27, 2019 3:27 AM

HRC should be president, but here's the good thing about her loss. We are now pissed and focused like we haven't been in decades. We are tired of this shit, and not just Trump, but all this shit, all these assholes who think the rich are sacred, all these assholes who think that sucking Russia's cock is totally okay, all these assholes who think that the worst thing you can do to this country is give it health care. We are pissed, and we are aware, and we are ready to take this motherfucking country back.

by Anonymousreply 581January 27, 2019 3:31 AM

Exactly, r580. One of the reasons well-meaning politicians (there are a few), can't tell the whole truth, is because people get upset when they tell the truth.

So Cohen and Junior Mint both got guns without proper licensing.

You know how those lions were attacking the "hunters," hunting them?

Has Junior gone there yet?

by Anonymousreply 586January 27, 2019 4:07 AM

Bajour!

by Anonymousreply 587January 27, 2019 4:09 AM

R586 that would be too good for him. He needs to wear an orange jumpsuit and love every minute of the loving he gets in the big house. He'll have to learn to take it like the Senatrice.

by Anonymousreply 588January 27, 2019 4:11 AM

True. I do want to see him crying while in cuffs. You know he will be.

by Anonymousreply 589January 27, 2019 4:13 AM

Scott Dworking is betting Jr is next.

God, please please please.

by Anonymousreply 591January 27, 2019 4:17 AM

Jr Mint in handcuffs is going to be one of those, "Where we you when..." moments.

by Anonymousreply 592January 27, 2019 4:19 AM

I want a perp walk, with as many cameras filming as possible.

by Anonymousreply 593January 27, 2019 4:21 AM

I know this is completely off topic, but it isn't really. A rich white guy doing the perp walk might help race relations in this country more than a thousand MLK speeches.

by Anonymousreply 594January 27, 2019 4:22 AM

R593 judging from the other day, they'll be ready.

Which reminds me, how did CNN know to be there?

by Anonymousreply 595January 27, 2019 4:23 AM

Can you imagine Donald trying to give a State of the Union (it's apparently back on for this Wednesday) knowing that his son's been indicted and in jail? The long-desired stroke on national TV ... it feels so attainable.

Is he planning on doing the SOTU on Weds? Is that why he caved so he could get his little speech?

by Anonymousreply 598January 27, 2019 4:24 AM

You said it, R594!

by Anonymousreply 599January 27, 2019 4:24 AM

R596 don't get carried away. He doesn't care enough about Jr to have a stroke.

by Anonymousreply 600January 27, 2019 4:24 AM

weirdly, the guy that ghost wrote Art of the Deal predicted exactly that, R598, that he would fold only because he really needs to give that stupid speech in that stupid chamber.
