by Anonymousreply 4January 11, 2019 12:20 AM

As asked on the previous thread:

[quote]Linz is trying way too hard. What does Trump have on him?

Rumors are it's video of Miss Lindsay getting spit-roasted.

by Anonymousreply 5January 11, 2019 12:25 AM

Seriously, R5, or are you just being droll?

At this point, if that’s what it is, I wouldn’t be surprised. I have never seen anybody do a 180 as fast as Miss Lindsey did on Trump. One minute Trump’s an asshole, the next, he’s God’s gift to humanity.

I can’t imagine any sex act, other than sex with little kids, animals, or dead people, that isn’t survivable for a Republican politician. Probably even scat, as long as it’s with a consenting adult. Just go on Fox and act all offended that your private life is being judged and you’re given a pass. Look at Trump.

What the hell could Miss Lindsey possibly have done, fucked a gerbil? Just own up to it and get your self respect back.

by Anonymousreply 6January 11, 2019 12:57 AM

It all started the day Dump invited Miss Linz for an afternoon of golf. Wonder what was discussed on the 15th hole.

by Anonymousreply 7January 11, 2019 1:01 AM

[quote]Wonder what was discussed on the 15th hole.

The Senatrice's hole, obviously.

by Anonymousreply 8January 11, 2019 1:10 AM

[quote]Seriously, [R5], or are you just being droll?

I'm completely serious. This comes from a gay DC Congressional aide.

by Anonymousreply 9January 11, 2019 1:10 AM

R5, Vid has the 'sydney harbour bridge' in it and the 'double adaptor'. That's quite intense.

by Anonymousreply 10January 11, 2019 1:32 AM

R10, was there a woman involved with either one? With Miss Lindsey?

by Anonymousreply 11January 11, 2019 1:39 AM

It's not hard to picture (unfortunately, since I don't want it in my head) the Senatrix being into the Adult Baby thing.

[quote][R10], was there a woman involved with either one? With Miss Lindsey?

*blinks several times*

Well, "spit-roasting" is a slang term for double penetration, which means you've got two....

...you know what? Skip it.

by Anonymousreply 13January 11, 2019 1:47 AM

All male cast, 11. Unless the pivot/two-end receptor is fantacizing fem.

by Anonymousreply 14January 11, 2019 1:48 AM

Sorry, I stand corrected. "Spit-roasting" and double penetration are quite different sexual actions.

Double penetration always looks so uncomfortable in porn flicks.

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2019 1:49 AM

Spit roast is taking it in the ass and giving a bj at same time.

by Anonymousreply 16January 11, 2019 1:51 AM

Spit roasting is for amateurs. Add one for the ass plus two in each hand, now that's the hayride. Those 5, I call it the royal flush.

by Anonymousreply 17January 11, 2019 1:58 AM

Checked it out on Urban Dictionary.

We all know what spit roasting is. “Double adapter,” according to Urban Dictionary, is one in the ass and one in the vagina. Men don’t have a vagina. That’s why I asked.

by Anonymousreply 18January 11, 2019 2:15 AM

Is the Sydney Harbor Bridge the same thing as "Eiffel Towering?"

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2019 2:21 AM

R19, it’s spit roasting while the two tops hold hands.

by Anonymousreply 20January 11, 2019 2:46 AM

So now Pres Bone Spurs is saying well, no, Mexico isn't paying for it and his deplorables will still say they knew it all along. What a fuck show. This is just fuckery at its most fucked.

I am the former Congressional intern who, after having dinner with my former colleagues who, at the time, worked on the hill (or did, their Dem boss retired and she has a MUCH better, scoopier job), asked her what they had on La Senatrice. Spit roasting was brought up, I asked if it was true, she just laughed and said she even if she knew she couldn't say then laughed again. I usually know her "tells" meaning her signs when something is true but she won't say. This time I couldn't tell and she just kept laughing when I asked. Each time I asked her if her laughing was a tell, she just laughed again. I put in a call to her to meet soon and she said she would because "there is so much to talk about!"

by Anonymousreply 21January 11, 2019 3:01 AM

You know why this Part 70 fucking 4? Because you're all waiting for something to happen, when it's been 2 1/2 fucking years of NOTHING. There's a macrame class at the senior center, why don't you all get a hobby.

by Anonymousreply 22January 11, 2019 3:17 AM

Thank you r21.

by Anonymousreply 23January 11, 2019 3:21 AM

I'm another Aussie on here and even I know R22 is wrong wrong wrong. Events have moved at an astonishing pace. Justice is being served. Perhaps you need to get a little distance to see the mills of god grinding?

by Anonymousreply 24January 11, 2019 3:22 AM

Someone sounds VERY concerned, haha. Nice try, R74.

I know you need to always get that in there at the start of every thread. I wonder what happens if you don't? Missed rations for a week?

by Anonymousreply 25January 11, 2019 3:24 AM

*R22, obviously.

by Anonymousreply 26January 11, 2019 3:24 AM

R22 gets extra bowl of borsht tonight. And perhaps maybe we not beat him so much.

by Anonymousreply 27January 11, 2019 3:25 AM

R21 Yes R21 thanks for a blind item that doesn't even say anything. I could have gone to CDAN, but you saved me some time. Oh, and how much did that retired woman want to get away from you? You didn't even know her. and you bring up sex at the dinner table. Classy.

by Anonymousreply 28January 11, 2019 3:26 AM

Not another tro---person saying this has all been a waste of time, that nothing has happened when, in fact, these threads are filled with news sometimes going so fast we run through threads in days, sometimes hours.

How many convictions/indictments? Pres Bone Spurs IS an unindicted co-conspirator. That is BIGLY! Suck on THAT!

by Anonymousreply 29January 11, 2019 3:26 AM

Yes, R24. There have been inditements of Russians, and of Trump associates. Guilty findings and pleas. And things should pickup from here, through end of March. R22 is a troll.

by Anonymousreply 30January 11, 2019 3:26 AM

R29 What are the sentencing guidelines for unindicted co-conspirators ? Oh yes, they have him by the balls.....

by Anonymousreply 31January 11, 2019 3:27 AM

r28 Awwwww that hurts! I am so deeply wounded by your oh so clever, biting post. That'll teach me!

by Anonymousreply 32January 11, 2019 3:28 AM

Spit roasting a man means ass and mouth.

I hear Miss Lindsay was a total slut when she was part of the House of Representatives

by Anonymousreply 33January 11, 2019 3:28 AM

Let's please remember--- as was pointed out in the other thread --- this is the time that the trolls start posting. Just be aware of it.

by Anonymousreply 34January 11, 2019 3:28 AM

Yes, the trolls know this is usually a quiet time of the day because they would get their asses handed to them any other time. They have to post off hours and during shift changes at the Crimea troll farm for the low IQ. I realize low IQ and Russians is a bit of an oxymoron.........

by Anonymousreply 35January 11, 2019 3:31 AM

Currently 7:30am in St. Petersburg, so I guess we get the morning shift.

by Anonymousreply 36January 11, 2019 3:31 AM

I'm wondering if Put Put is thinking this is a lost cause and has started to cut rations for this project. In the past there were several shifts, now it just seems to be the one.

by Anonymousreply 39January 11, 2019 3:36 AM

it seems horrible and stupid and worthless and ridiculous now, and it is. but in a few years, I really think we will look back and think, fuck, why were we actually afraid of this bitch. I think it will be like Joe McCarthy, asshole, asshole, asshole, danger, danger, danger, then suddenly total joke.

by Anonymousreply 40January 11, 2019 3:37 AM

r37 Russia is a broke shithole. Puty is trying to make us one as well through Pres Bone Spurs. These trolls come from a shithole so having a room to sit in that likely has one log on the fire so they can type out terrible, tired propaganda is better than whatever shithole they live in for a home.

by Anonymousreply 41January 11, 2019 3:38 AM

Are you still accepting title submissions?

"Treason, nothing more than treason, I wish I'd never met you..."

by Anonymousreply 42January 11, 2019 3:38 AM

ooo, r21, you gotta spill when you get the gossip!

I'm excited at the thought of some inside dish!

by Anonymousreply 43January 11, 2019 3:41 AM

I hope you are right r40

by Anonymousreply 44January 11, 2019 3:42 AM

Concerning those seventeen new lawyers just hired at the White House, unless I'm wrong those lawyers do not work for Trump. Those are our lawyers, we are paying for them, and no one in the White House has attorney/client privilege with them. I'm also fairly certain Trump has no idea what any of that means.

by Anonymousreply 45January 11, 2019 3:43 AM

R21 has a constitutional duty to spill the goddamn motherfucking impeach the bitch TEA.

by Anonymousreply 46January 11, 2019 3:43 AM

by Anonymousreply 50January 11, 2019 3:52 AM

R50 it'll probably be covered in the load of 30 men so you probably don't need to worry about it.

by Anonymousreply 51January 11, 2019 3:57 AM

Former Congressional Intern here (r21) - as soon as I have anything, I will spill it. She, and they, are in much better positions NOW to spill some major tea than before. When she says, "we have a lot to talk about" that is a sign she has got some goodies. We shall see. She did say things on the Hill are bonkers as she has ever seen it in her over 25 years there. She doesn't use words like that unless it is nuts nuts nuts or as La Senatrice says, tea bagging delights.

by Anonymousreply 52January 11, 2019 3:58 AM

When did "spill the dirt" become "spill the tea"?

by Anonymousreply 53January 11, 2019 4:00 AM

was it ever not, r53? guess I really don't know. was spill the dirt a thing?

by Anonymousreply 54January 11, 2019 4:02 AM

by Anonymousreply 55January 11, 2019 4:02 AM

FCI here- I don't know but I use spill the tea because I'm young enough to get away with it (early/mid 30's). I thought it was always, "spill the beans" not "spill the dirt"?

by Anonymousreply 56January 11, 2019 4:05 AM

Lawrence O'Donnell was good tonight. Things are moving quickly to impeachment.

by Anonymousreply 59January 11, 2019 4:16 AM

R56, you're right. I meant 'spill the beans'. It's 'dish the dirt'. I think 'spill the tea' just sounds really stupid. Just looked it up and it says "spill the tea" is a gay/drag thing that started in Texas in the 2000s and is based on gossiping at southern tea parties. Eh. Still sounds stupid.

by Anonymousreply 60January 11, 2019 4:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 66January 11, 2019 11:58 AM

by Anonymousreply 67January 11, 2019 12:32 PM

So right now apparently the Mueller team is reviewing Donnie's statements to get at intent. Part of Obstruction charges I would guess. I keep hoping there is a smoking gun. I want to read that when Donnie Jr. made his phone call to a blocked number the phone records will show it was Trump's phone. I want Michael Cohen's tapes to clearly indicate Trump knew everything that was going on with the Russians. I'm hoping Rick Gates has verified Trump knew. He is the missing link. All the stuff we're learning continues to verify the Russians helped Trump steal the election. They were involved at every level in every standard campaign activity. The only true question remaining, and we at DL know it's not really a question, is Trump's personal knowledge of the criminal activity, his involvement, etc. We know this is his operation from top to bottom. I hope there's tape. OMG, I want Trump on tape talking about his Russians SO MUCH. IMO the two people who are golden for the Mueller team a re Rick Gates who was at Manafort's side, and Cohen, who was around Trump. I'm convinced there is a smoking gun out here...or several smoking guns. WEHT that young guy with the strange hair, the IT guy who worked with the data, with Cambridge or with Parscale, etc. He had turned on them and was talking. Does anyone remember? I'm betting they will shortly have enough to indict Trump, and they can also continue investigating because there are so many lines of inquiry into real criminal activity.

by Anonymousreply 68January 11, 2019 1:08 PM

What if, as a strategy, the dems did nothing after Trump declares his little state of emergency? Government would open back up, Trump could raid the bloated military budget for his wall, the military would be pissed at him, he could go about the task of confiscating private property, etc. What’s the downside for Democrats?

by Anonymousreply 69January 11, 2019 1:24 PM

R62 blocked.

I want to know who the blocked call was to...

by Anonymousreply 70January 11, 2019 1:25 PM

[quote] R68: I want to read that when Donnie Jr. made his phone call to a blocked number the phone records will show it was Trump's phone.

Actually, you can’t call out to a blocked number, it was a blocked number that called into Jr.

by Anonymousreply 71January 11, 2019 1:29 PM

Suppose we find it was DJT Sr. who called Jr. From that blocked number. Is that enough to find beyond a reasonable doubt that Sr. was informed? Seems reasonable to me. Anyone know how long the call lasted?

by Anonymousreply 72January 11, 2019 1:31 PM

Ry1, even though the number was blocked, wouldn’t the phone company records show who called? I would bet Dump had a burner phone or two, or is he that clever?

by Anonymousreply 73January 11, 2019 1:37 PM

Trump isn't smart enough to use a burner phone. The problem is that the phone company can purge its own records, and they would have a lot of incentive to keep Trump happy by making sure that his records are purged.

by Anonymousreply 74January 11, 2019 1:57 PM

[quote]Thanks, [R21]! I'd completely forgotten where I'd heard this bit of dirt on Miss Lindsay, and it was you.

No offense, but that gem didn't come from the person with the friend on the Hill. That rumor about Lindsay was floated around, even in these threads for a long time before the former intern said he took it to the person he knew currently working on the hill and asked for confirmation, to which that person only smirked or whatever.

I don't think we've ever gotten actual "new info" that hasn't already been floated around here. Only "smirks" and "smiles" as possible confirmation.

by Anonymousreply 75January 11, 2019 2:19 PM

People please. Can we thin before we say "Trump isn't smart enough to do this, or think that or say WTF ever?" He would certainly know about burner phones. He has been an underhanded crook all his adult life. He's also been a womanizer and a cheater. Having burner phones works well for him. So if he was cheating with a Playmate he'd give he'd say," Here's my private number. I never give this to anyone, only you. And when you call me I'll answer it personally, not some secretary or personal aide...." Can you imagine how flattering that would be? Shit. Burner phones were definitely in his toolbox.

Now as for this wall bullshit, and the shutdown, and the idea of calling a state of emergency, hell, they've been tossing that one around for months. IMO. I believe that once they knew the possibility of losing the House was a strong possibility, he started ginning up his panic speeches. He was screaming about illegals and getting really crazy, remember? Then that fucking caravan (we haven't yet heard the full story there.) and he campaigned hard. No one can accuse him of sitting out the Midterms. He went all out with his message of fear and crazy. Make no mistake this shutdown is about losing the House. He doesn't care about a wall. He cares about crushing Pelosi. And a shutdown, as long as he holds the Senate and they don't desert him, is exactly what they will do to fuckup Pelosi. They will never agree to anything she proposes. Ever. Mitch and Donnie are ging to hardline her and make her look bad. That is their goal.

by Anonymousreply 76January 11, 2019 2:33 PM

Yeah, everybody and his brother, not just on DL, assume Trump and/or Putin are holding sex-related "dirt" over Lindsay's head. I think the truth is much more prosaic. I think our Miss Lindsay is just a garden-variety craven politician who loves his cushy Washington life and is deathly afraid of being primaried by an even Trumpier Republican in his next Senate race.

by Anonymousreply 77January 11, 2019 2:33 PM

I don't know if I agree with that. The Senatrice's behavior is much more than someone who just wants power. He acts like someone who is terrified to death that something is going to come out about him. His actions always come across as someone being held hostage.

I'm more likely to believe that Pence is just a power hungry asshole without any secrets than I am to believe that about Lindsay.

by Anonymousreply 78January 11, 2019 2:48 PM

R77 Yes and "everybody and their brother" are likely right. It's something more than just the usual politician hypocritical, go with whichever way the wind is blowing" . As is noted, Miz Linds did a complete ass licking change overnight after a private golf game with the moron. No sir. I know the girl is compromised. As are a number of other GOP'ers. The Russians have been infiltrating the GOP for many years. Dana Rohrbacher is another one. Its sick but it is what it is.

It's tragic that the world needs so much proof for Trump being a crook and yet Obama would hang by now for even the slightest rumor of doing 1/1,000th of what Trump already has pulled.

Just get rid of that asshole.

by Anonymousreply 80January 11, 2019 2:50 PM

I think we need to get over wringing our hands about that, r80. That ship sailed about two million years ago, when the first humans evolved. We hold people up to different standards based in part on what we have come to expect from them.

It's unfair, yes, but so is life.

Instead of fuming about it, as we tend to do, we need to move past it and sink him anyway.

by Anonymousreply 81January 11, 2019 2:55 PM

[quote]It's tragic that the world needs so much proof for Trump being a crook and yet Hillary was crucified twenty times over even though the blatant lies told about her were repeatedly debunked as insane ramblings.

Being guarded here as to what is termed the Senàtrice. There are old and some newer stories. If one is older and perhaps connected to the gay political gossip circles particularly in Columbia and in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and pockets of the very conservative upstate where she's from, one may hear more specific and tantalizing details. Around the captitol and state legislature, those people, predominantly Republican, gossip on the subject matter. People on DL want names. I am aware of a couple, but am not going to mention people that are largely unknown and not politicians. It is dated gossip, and presenting proof is not there unless the individuals show a willingness to speak about it. One guy is pretty obscure, private, and works for a large company.

A salacious video is gossiped about, but not thought to be of SC origin. Speculation is that it could be foreign and made without the knowledge and consent of the subject matter. Perhaps it was a hotel room set-up. Again, that's taking liberties with pure speculation. If one is looking for an old lover to come forward, one may also expect to be disappointed. Something is assumed to have happened at that golf outing to turn the Senàtrice into an immediate sycophant for Cadet Spurs. If this scenario is close to being correct, it is old-fashioned blackmail whereby someone is holding provided dirt that implies something is illegal, and/or is very embarrassing, and could derail a career.

While certain closet cases of politicians make slip-ups and get exposed, the Senàtrice is quite careful about displays in private. Her many years with a now deceased mentor/colleague can be explained as chums/buds, like-minded, work-foused, political allies, etc. The conservative electorate accepts that. After all, the other guy was married.

With an unproven secret spit roasting video, if true, it would be by an entity intending to entrap. Doubtful it was by someone seeking to re-live a sexual conquest in which he is a participant. Who has such a motive? And don't count on it being some southern Democrat with some bruised feelings because he lost a race to the Senàtrice.

by Anonymousreply 83January 11, 2019 3:01 PM

Uh... thanks for the recap on the Senatrice.......

by Anonymousreply 84January 11, 2019 3:06 PM

The poster pretending to be a”Former Congressional Intern” is the one with all the smiles and smirks. He has never had even ONE piece of the puzzle to share with us. He’s never had anything to bring to the table.

Some people like T rump are evil and don’t need blackmailing. There is no spit-roasting tape. Graham is just EVIL.

by Anonymousreply 85January 11, 2019 3:10 PM

So according to "insiders" Trump is prepping right now to declare an emergency to build his wall and is looking into having the military do the construction of it, as he rummages around looking for the funds. (yawn.) This is where he was headed all a long and IMO there is no guarantee that he will reopen government or agree to anything proposed. Graham professes to be disappointed his proposal was rejected by Trump. Hah.

As for why is Lindsey being Lindsey? I think it's a combination of things. I have no reason to doubt that "someone" might have compromising pictures of him. I have no doubt he has been getting money from Russian oligarchs for years. Especially in recent years. But I also believe he is an opportunist of the first degree. His political ideology is simply a collection of personal issues he's cobbled into something resembling "I'm a Conservative."

He's a whore. He wants to satisfy as many factions within the Conservative movement as he can. Clearly McCain was the only thing stabilizing him. And when you really look at Graham, think about how he betrayed that friendship. McCain saved the life of a Russian journalist/ political activist, the guy was a pallbearer at his funeral after surviving two state sanctioned assassination attempts by poison.

Putin and Trump hated McCain so much Trump insulted him, mocked him, and ridiculed him for years, even while the guy was on his deathbed. That, IMO tells me exactly what kind of man Lindsey Graham is. He is slime. He is a filthy despicable rat, and he is exactly on the same level as Trump, including in his need for media attention.

by Anonymousreply 86January 11, 2019 3:11 PM

R85 I don't know everything that that person has shared but all of the posts I have caught have only ever re-stated theories tossed around here. I don't know if that person is claiming to present this information here as new or if he's just saying he's taken what we've talked about and asked for confirmation -- which is never actually confirmed, but rather we are to guess confirmation based on a smile.

by Anonymousreply 87January 11, 2019 3:15 PM

God, enough with the LIndsey shit, who cares? Let's get back to the Muller stuff...

by Anonymousreply 88January 11, 2019 3:18 PM

If you don't like it R88, skip it. Nobody cares that you don't care... of course you have no other posts in this thread so your caring is suspect.

by Anonymousreply 89January 11, 2019 3:22 PM

oh screw you r89, I have participated in every single one of these threads right from the beginning, go back and check if you don't believe me.

But the "Ms. Lindsey" stuff is old. I hate the fucker but enough about his sex life! He's ugly as sin but I'm beginning to think that some of you find him hot or something, since you talk about his sex life so damn much.

WTFever.

by Anonymousreply 90January 11, 2019 3:26 PM

I did, R90, You have no other posts in this thread.

And again, if you don't like it, don't read it or don't respond. Your analysis that people talking about it means they find him "hot," shows your limited your thinking skills are.

But you do you and keep trolling, ok?

by Anonymousreply 91January 11, 2019 3:28 PM

R89 don't go away mad. ..

by Anonymousreply 92January 11, 2019 3:30 PM

Sorry, that was meant for R90.

by Anonymousreply 93January 11, 2019 3:30 PM

R76 - Making Pelosi look bad isn't really working at the moment. She's the only one who appears to be a strong leader with everything under control. She looks like someone who is in charge of the situation.

Trump looks like a weak, desperate, unhinged crybaby. The Senatrice looks scared, exhausted and defeated. McTurtle looks like a lazy and incompetent dog with his tail between his legs.

I'd much rather be in the Democratic position than the corner in which Trump and Co. have dug themselves.

by Anonymousreply 94January 11, 2019 3:34 PM

the fat, racist piece of shit will declare victory no matter what. But, tub-of-lard will certainly be seen as losing and he will lose the 202 election (but, I think he will resign before then). The Sentate will go Blue and McGurgle will be gone. He is as much of a disgrace and traitor to the US as is this fake president.

by Anonymousreply 95January 11, 2019 4:03 PM

Only the Deplorables will believe what Trump says since they created a support system around them (aka "the bubble") where others like conservative pundits, Fox News and Breitbart affirm their right wing snowflake beliefs.

Yes, the Deplorables are cranky snowflakes who threaten violence whenever their precious safe space is threatened.

by Anonymousreply 96January 11, 2019 4:08 PM

One cannot separate Graham from the DTJ-Putty Poop saga. There's that campaign finance money from an oligargh. The attacks on DoJ/F-BI/Steele dossier/, complaints about judge-aporoved surveillance of Carter Page, his committee work that tries to counter the Mueller investigation, support of the Sessions firing/support for Trump's temporary and nominees at DoJ, urging the DoJ firings, campaigning for Republicans in 2018 as the Kavanaugh confirmation hero, his meltdown on the committee, his daily appearances on major TV networks defending and promoting Trump/his golf outing 180 flip. Can go on and on. He is the new chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. His priorities? Approve Federalists Society named judges, investigate DoJ and intelligence services personnel, and of course, investigate HRC's Emails for the upteenth time.

Humor about his speculative sex life and life-style is to be expected due to his immense cravings for attention and political shananigans that are extremely partisan and contradictory. This is Datalounge for Pete's sake. People will gossip about celebrities and politicians.

Graham latched onto DJT. He has to know sexual escapades are part of the drama generated by DJT. Some of it is in court right now. Graham receives speculation because of his own perplexing actions, either directly or indirectly.

by Anonymousreply 97January 11, 2019 4:11 PM

The US need some to heal. A guarantee for this to happen is if the dems take the Presidency and both houses. If will happen and these traitors will be vilified forever.

by Anonymousreply 98January 11, 2019 4:13 PM

Donald is really drama-queening it up this morning:

Humanitarian Crisis at our Southern Border. I just got back and it is a far worse situation than almost anyone would understand, an invasion! I have been there numerous times - The Democrats, Cryin’ Chuck and Nancy don’t know how bad and dangerous it is for our ENTIRE COUNTRY....

...The Steel Barrier, or Wall, should have been built by previous administrations long ago. They never got it done - I will. Without it, our Country cannot be safe. Criminals, Gangs, Human Traffickers, Drugs & so much other big trouble can easily pour in. It can be stopped cold!

by Anonymousreply 99January 11, 2019 4:14 PM

Shut up you piece of shit, lying and fake president. Stop lying, you gutless, scared little crumb. You are a criminal and after Mueller”s report comes out, you’ll be in jail.

by Anonymousreply 100January 11, 2019 4:26 PM

good thread

by Anonymousreply 101January 11, 2019 4:49 PM

I personally love the pictures of the wall sawed with a gaping hole. The military was instructed to test the prototypes using “common tools” and they cut a big section right out of it using a common hacksaw. It’s a fucking JOKE. And I’m pissed at Cher, no Cher, none of us want the workers suffering, but I will be goddamned if I’m going to give this pig a fucking penny for his stupid wall!!! Cher tweeted that Nancy should just give him his fucking money so the workers can buy food for their families. It is terrible. But I’d rather send money to food banks or GoFunds to help them that pay for it. And we aren’t the assholes for feeling this way, if Orange Marmalade wasn’t such a bastard, NONE of this would even be happening.

by Anonymousreply 102January 11, 2019 4:50 PM

Gotta laugh. Old military guy here. He wants the military to build his wall if he declares a state of emergency? These new hillbilly red neck nose picking recruits couldn’t build a sand castle much less some impenetrable wall. Every day seems to be a new sitcom adventure with Dumpity Doo.

by Anonymousreply 103January 11, 2019 4:56 PM

The media should stop humoring Trump and his Deplorable snowflakes. Announcing that Shumer and Pelose got higher ratings for their rebuttal segment is a step into the right direction.

I think it's also that cozying up to Cheeto serves Ms Lindz's presidential ambitions which I believe is his ultimate goal. Aligning himself with Trump means getting the deplorables on board, should any of these cases happen:

a) Trump won't run in 2020 (impeached, decides not to run, whatever the reason). Ms Lindz takes Trump's mantle.

b) Trump will run, so Ms Lindz makes a play for Veep, with an eye to 2024.

by Anonymousreply 106January 11, 2019 5:05 PM

Lindsey will never be elected, if he’s thinking that, he’s out of his mind. The rest of the country isn’t as stupid as his home state.

by Anonymousreply 107January 11, 2019 5:10 PM

I read that in a few years drones will be strong enough to fly people over the wall. Then all a coyote has to do is buy a few drones and rake the cash in. It will be like a money printing machine.

And we will have a two trillion dollar paperweight and a bankrupt country.

Why doesn’t it occur to any of these politicians that the problem isn’t a wall, the problem is the countries south of the border are in a never-ending state of turmoil. They live next door and they always will. While technology becomes more and more advanced.

If we could rebuild on the Marshall Plan after WWII, why can’t we put the money where the problem is? Stabilize these countries and people will stay home. Rather than throwing money down a hole, attach strings so aid can’t be misused.

About the Marshall Plan: “The years 1948 to 1952 saw the fastest period of growth in European history. Industrial production increased by 35%. Agricultural production substantially surpassed pre-war levels. The poverty and starvation of the immediate postwar years disappeared, and Western Europe embarked upon an unprecedented two decades of growth that saw standards of living increase dramatically. Additionally, the long-term effect of economic integration raised European income levels substantially, by nearly 20 percent by the mid-1970s.

“[...] Economic historians J. Bradford DeLong and Barry Eichengreen call it "history's most successful structural adjustment program." One effect of the plan was that it subtly "Americanized" European countries.”

r106. The Deplorables would never support Ms Lindz. They were the ones who practically outed him when he was still one of Trump's enemies in the primary election. Remember when Lindz smashed his phone, because his now dear friend released his mobile phone number on social media?

Bitch gets blackmailed into submission I have no doubt about it.

by Anonymousreply 109January 11, 2019 5:10 PM

There's another angle to the Lindsay story -- the man lives to start and extend military conflicts. (The lion's share of his campaign money comes from defense contractors.) In the Woodward book, he's always whispering in Trump's ear, trying to get him to send troops somewhere or other. He thinks he can influence Trump to do so by staying on his good side.

by Anonymousreply 110January 11, 2019 5:11 PM

Delete Mueller’s name from these threads and rename them “Graham” something.

This is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 111January 11, 2019 5:13 PM

Pelosi and Schumer and the Dems need to emphasize all the workers going without pay, and the services that are affected. Period. Just like they focsued on healthcare for the mid terms, they need to hammerthose issues home and just dismiss his wall with quick comment, like it's not important.

And they also need to highlight the way services are affected. THAT is a national security issue. Humantarian crisis? WTF about Americans going without? Frame that fucking message, because this is a campaign right now. It is a competition to dominate the media. So ifI was advising Pelosi and the House leadership etc. I'd say:

So far the media focus is on Trump, but at some point people (like Cher) are going to start waivering and may tell Nancy to "please don't be stubborn. Please negotiate so people can get paid and services can resume."

For most people who aren't politically active and just want to deal with their own kitchen table, the fact that the media is framing this as a "both sides " issue is harmful to Nancy and the Dems. That's important. These kinds of situations don't remain static. They are fluid, and can turn on a dime.

Dems need to do something that is pro active. Trump visited the border yesterday? I'd do some visuals too. I'd visit airports and food pantries and stuff like that. Senators and House members have the right to go out and investigate. They ought to do that. People who won't get their food stamps, people who are TSA agents working without pay.

When we fight them we have to do it effectively. We hate Trump. He's a monster. We see him through a different lens than his supporters, and different from the people in the middle who are mostly indifferent and frustrated. Those a re the people we need to own.

When this started Trump looked so bad and so childish. We need to keep him in that frame. We need to be three steps ahead of him because honestly, he is very predictable. And really, why would anyone ever expect Mitch McConnell to be open to reason.

The House passes legislation and delivers it to Mitch and he keeps saying "No." Fine. But after a certain point, escalate. Get the Senators to boycott anything except the shutdown. Two days ago Nancy had a bi-partisan coalition. McConnell insisted Trump go to the Hill to have a talk because his people were deserting him. They talked strategy. We need to blow t hat shit up.

by Anonymousreply 112January 11, 2019 5:15 PM

Excellent post r112, I especially love how you flipped the script on “Americans going without.” You’re a hellcat. I love it.

by Anonymousreply 113January 11, 2019 5:20 PM

[quote]Can we thin before we say "Trump isn't smart enough to do this, or think that or say WTF ever?" He would certainly know about burner phones. He has been an underhanded crook all his adult life.

His arrogance and a lifetime of getting away with everything would have made him not care about such things.

I really hate 99% of the media. They keep buying into the premise of Trump's plans and arguments as if they aren't the insane rantings of a modern day Quixote chasing his big giant windmill (aka wall). I swear, when they keep talking about both sides being intractable and unwilling to compromise, I just want to strangle them all.

by Anonymousreply 114January 11, 2019 6:01 PM

I've know arrogant guys like Trump, and they have burner phones and probably three or four e-mail accounts under different names. He is sly and sneaky because he is a control freak. He's the type who'd give each one of his kids a burner phone number so they'd think they were special. It's not really about burner phones or blocked numbers, it's the fact that in addition to being arrogant, he is a sneaky underhanded bastard.

by Anonymousreply 115January 11, 2019 6:05 PM

Have we discussed the hot gay air traffic controller on MSNBC today? He was interviewed in his apartment.

by Anonymousreply 116January 11, 2019 6:16 PM

Would a McCain presidency in 2008 have prevented Russian interference in 2016?

by Anonymousreply 117January 11, 2019 6:23 PM

Here’s what I don’t understand. I am no McCain fan. At all!!! But clearly, the man was a patriot. He was a lot of other things too, but he WAS a patriot. So how did he build this alliance that was so deep with Lindsey???? I don’t understand it.

by Anonymousreply 118January 11, 2019 6:28 PM

R115, he's not sneaky, though. He's stupid and arrogant. He does everything out in the open sure of the fact that he'll just get his way and get away with anything. It's the entire basis of his personality. That's why there's so much fucking evidence of all his wrongdoings.

by Anonymousreply 119January 11, 2019 6:29 PM

I agree R112, it's frustrating that democrats are still on the defensive. I think people are desperately waiting for them to get on the offensive.

Democrats need to dominate the narrative!

by Anonymousreply 120January 11, 2019 6:30 PM

R118, Hillary said something like that as well in several interviews. Saying she worked with some republicans on legislation and these people seem totally compromised now. That's why I believe there is a lot of bribery, blackmail and extortion going on. That's how Putin gets them. Happened in Europe as well with the Hapsburg group.

by Anonymousreply 121January 11, 2019 6:36 PM

FUCK

CHER

by Anonymousreply 122January 11, 2019 6:45 PM

When was the last time we saw or heard from a Rick Gates? I seriously think it’ll be someone like him, relatively low profile and quiet (unlike Michael Cohen, say) who brings Trumpie down.

Do we know what Gates has been up to?

by Anonymousreply 123January 11, 2019 6:50 PM

Gates is awaiting sentencing on his plea deal for conspiracy against the U. S., expected to be 57 to 71 months, and has agreed to cooperate with Mueller in the meantime. He knows a lot, having worked for Manafort for years in his "business” (money laundering, bribery, shakedowns), and then for Manafort (and later Kellyanne) during the campaign and transition. He’s also being sued by his lawyers for unpaid legal bills. I wouldn’t be surprised if working on a book.

by Anonymousreply 124January 11, 2019 7:20 PM

Wasn't trump just using is private non-secure phone to conduct government business? I mean he can't be all that smart.

by Anonymousreply 125January 11, 2019 7:27 PM

Yes, and yes, R125.

by Anonymousreply 126January 11, 2019 7:33 PM

Such CONCERN about “the Dems.”

by Anonymousreply 127January 11, 2019 8:26 PM

Does anyone else think it’s possible that KAC is working for Russia? I’ve been trying for months to make sense of her husband’s actions. And the more I think about it, what better way to hide than to have your spouse posting comments that utterly contradict what you say as the POTUS spokesperson? Is this possible or have I reached Level Ten Paranoia?? Or is she Team Mueller even?

by Anonymousreply 128January 11, 2019 9:03 PM

R128, Kelly Ann is alll about money and access to power. Remember how she trashed Trump on TV ...until she decided to join him? I'd love to know how much she got paid. If she has not been interviewed by the Mueller guys I'd be very surprised. She has been around for a while, but has never enjoyed such national prominence before. Yeah, Bill Maher and Chris Matthews used to have her on because she traded a lot of political gossip with them. She got along with the media because she leaked. And she hung out. She was on the fringe of a lot of political circles and was a pollster. She did a good job. She was successful as a consultant, but not at the level of the A listers.

by Anonymousreply 129January 11, 2019 9:09 PM

R128 it'd be surprising, but not exceedingly so. She speaks like RT reports.

by Anonymousreply 130January 11, 2019 9:10 PM

But how do you explain the dynamic of her husband’s Twitter feed? I agree with you though too, no doubt she’s spent her life fapping over power. But I wonder at times if she has ALSO been compromised by Russia.

by Anonymousreply 131January 11, 2019 9:12 PM

I feel like her husband is now tweeting as he does to be an end game for her. Either to be positioned as the new James Carville and Mary Matalin, or to give plausible deniability when KellyAnne has to say, to save her ass, "actually I was there protecting America. I had to say all those things to stay undercover. Look at my husband's positions in his tweets, those are my real thoughts!". Either way she sucks.

by Anonymousreply 132January 11, 2019 9:18 PM

Personally I don't trust Kellyanne and her husband, because they look like scheming gamblers who bet on both sides (conservatives and liberals) and think they are winners either way.

by Anonymousreply 133January 11, 2019 9:24 PM

Ahhhhhh, now that makes sense r132. It gives her an “out” when Orange Marmalade goes down. And I wouldn’t be shocked if that’s part of why her husband is doing it, he might really believe what he’s saying, but he’s a lawyer, so this is also his way of protecting his wife too. I despise her with every bone in my body.

by Anonymousreply 134January 11, 2019 9:24 PM

Why would her husband's opinions and ideas give her cover?

by Anonymousreply 135January 11, 2019 9:30 PM

Yet R107, the media loves him, and his Republican peers in the Senate put him out there as their voice.

When he ran in the early 2016 Republican Presidential primaries; South Carolina results for him were in the single digits. His major donors include the Koch Bros, NRA, and the production industries that sell to the military.

Graham was a House leader in voting to impeach Bill Clinton. He's less about ideology, and much more being an opportunist. Whether there's compromising information being held over his head, and/or he has higher political ambitions; he's leaving trail of baggage even many deplorables will find annoying.

by Anonymousreply 136January 11, 2019 9:31 PM

R136, because after DJT goes down, she could simply say that she didn’t actually believe most of what she was forced to say, which is “obvious” when you read her husband’s feed. She could theoretically say that she didn’t believe anything she’s saying.

by Anonymousreply 137January 11, 2019 9:34 PM

I think the end of American government began when news became rating-based entertainment. I'm not sure how to get it back, especially when even the Democrats are looking for a "rock star" to run in order to play the game.

by Anonymousreply 138January 11, 2019 9:36 PM

R137, it's not 1953 where the man's opinion is the official family opinion. And, how exactly is she being forced to do anything? She's just an evil woman and her shit is her own. No one will ever believe otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 139January 11, 2019 9:39 PM

[quote]the media loves him, and his Republican peers in the Senate put him out there as their voice.

The media doesn't love him, he loves the camera. Very few of his Republican peers are willing to talk to anybody but Fox, so Lindsay gets to be the belle of the ball.

by Anonymousreply 140January 11, 2019 9:44 PM

The sensitive is being blackmailed. Make no mistake. A closeted Queen - who has a profound love of the high life and power - was always gonna be in danger of compromised. And has been. At minimum - Russians and/or their agents have everything on him. Every text, every email - every bank account detail. There’s a good chance they also have actual audio and video of misdeeds - political - financial - and sexual. He’s compromised. And shit scared.

Re: KAC and her husband - they remind me of those ‘clever’ characters from past conflicts - who saw there was gonna be a conflict and saw that family members were well placed on every side of the potential combatants - so that no matter whoever won - there was barely a hiccup in overall family fortunes - as there’d always be someone who sided with the winners and was able to continue business as usual. It’s happened since the Romans. WW1. The Nazi regime. There’s always been cynical double dealing.

It’s the same with some of the huge corporate donors now - the way many give a ton to the rethugs - but also donate some to the Dems as well so they can hedge their bets - and always claimed to have been supporters when the winds of fortune change - and start to lobby for whatever benefits them. It’s purely cynical self interest.

by Anonymousreply 141January 11, 2019 9:45 PM

r139....you just don't get it. It doesn't matter how plausible it sounds to you or us, from a defense perspective, its very plausible and believable.

by Anonymousreply 142January 11, 2019 9:45 PM

R139, you best step back bitch. I’m on a thread about Orange Marmalade asking questions about the Jersey Mc-Dego Fiend KAC along with her stumpy and portly and suddenly anti-GOP spouse. This is where we discuss strange behavior.

by Anonymousreply 143January 11, 2019 9:51 PM

So, the Distraction Trolls get called out about Graham, so the subject of their NONSENSE POSTS switches to KAC.

How VERY telling.

by Anonymousreply 144January 11, 2019 9:53 PM

R142, you can keep saying it but your theory makes zero sense in the real world. None. "Oh, yeah I committed all these crimes and lied continuously but my husband said good stuff on Twitter, so I'm going to retroactively go with that!" That's absolute nonsense in defense of anything and is showing a weird, antiquated bias on your part as to the importance of her husband's opinions in defining her as a person. It's ridiculous and you know it.

R144, what exactly is the discussion of KAC currently distracting from on this thread? Not a whole lot happened today so the discussion wanders to the other criminals involved in the Mueller investigation. The troll accusations are getting more annoying than the actual trolls at this point. At least the trolls are entertaining at points in their sheer obliviousness.

by Anonymousreply 145January 11, 2019 9:56 PM

Yes, R132 someone said the same thing here in the last thread. KAC and George's schtick is to give KAC cover. They'll claim they were working together and that she was the only thing holding America together.

by Anonymousreply 146January 11, 2019 9:59 PM

Kellyanne has been spewing her right of center Republican propaganda for over two decades. Her polling company has had clients all over the country. She was working for Ted Cruz prior to Trump. She was on Fox and even CNN doing her deflections, spin, and twisting of the truth.

As to Lindsey Graham, CNN, MSNBC, Fox extensively, and elsewhere quote and mention him throughout the day for quite awhile now. While he craves the camera, there is a media infactuation with him and that's not based on ideology with the exception of Fox in particular. It's a repeated false narrative that he's a sensible Senator influencing Trump and that his focus is having all sides working together. He may propose something that is moderate leaning, then abrubtly abandon it if opposition comes from Trump, McConnell, the GOP majority, etc. He presents himself as a military and foreign policy expert, but is essentially a proponent of military spending and injecting the U.S. military into foreign conflicts. Even with this, he will succomb to Trump on Syria, N. Korea, and Russian intervention policies.

Citing unnamed former law enforcement officials, the New York Times reported on Friday that the FBI opened the combined criminal and counterintelligence probe in May of 2017.

Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani dismissed the alleged investigation as baseless, pointing out that no evidence has publicly emerged in the 20 months since to support the idea that Trump is a secret Russian agent.

'The fact that it goes back a year and a half and nothing came of it that showed a breach of national security means they found nothing,' Giuliani told the Times.

Trump fired Comey on May 9, 2017, citing a letter from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that sharply criticized Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

However, sources tell the Times that two events raised alarm at the FBI that Trump had fired Comey in an attempt to stifle their investigation into possible Russia election meddling.

The first was a draft of the letter Trump wanted to send Comey informing him of the firing, which the Times reports mentioned the Russia investigation.

The draft was never sent, after Rosenstein purportedly urged Trump to drop mention of Russia in the letter.

The final version of the letter that was sent, and made public, does mention the investigation obliquely, thanking Comey for 'informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation.'

by Anonymousreply 196January 12, 2019 2:52 AM

If Trump's lawyers get to redact much of Mueller's report on claims of executive privilege before it is released, it will be a very messy situation. Also, Whitaker and/or Barr gutting or withholding it will also add to the messiness.

One would expect the House Intelligence Committee, under Schiff, will subpoena the original and call Mueller to testify.

And the NYT and WP have their ways of getting their hands on such. The original will get leaked quickly.

Plus, expect more indictments. Some may happen post-report being released.

Trump's team are banking that the Supreme Court will side with them on process appeals.

That doesn't have to stop the House from pursing impeachment.

by Anonymousreply 197January 12, 2019 2:52 AM

The second issue that reportedly concerned the FBI was Trump's May 11, 2017 interview with NBC News, in which Lest Holt pressed him on the timing of the firing.

'I was going to fire Comey - there was no good time to do it,' Trump said.

'And in fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself - I said, you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story. It's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should've won,' Trump continued.

Trump's detractors have taken this statement as proof that he fired Comey out of anger over the Russia investigation.

However, the President's supporters have said that he was indicating that he knew the timing of the firing might look bad, but decided to move forward with it anyhow because there was nothing behind the Russian collusion allegations.

Also fueling the FBI's concerns was Christopher Steele's 'dirty dossier' of unsubstantiated allegations, which had been funded by Democrats but at that point was justifying probes across the Justice Department.

In response to the events, according to the Times, the FBI began investigating whether Trump was a secret Russian agent.

by Anonymousreply 198January 12, 2019 2:53 AM

That statement by Huckster Sanders is damn inflammatory. It does nothing to restrain Mueller's team, and if the investigators/prosecutors had any iota of empathy or deference for Trump remaining, Sarah's statement killed it. Intimidation, bullying, and lying have expiration dates, and thus protesting too much loses its effectiveness.

by Anonymousreply 202January 12, 2019 3:17 AM

This is obviously one of the FBI cases Mueller inherited when he was commissioned. One of his objectives is whether or not any Americans or members of the Trump campaign helped the Russians.

by Anonymousreply 222January 12, 2019 7:24 AM

Just a few possible points for discussion.

Is it too early to surmise what Cohen's testimony before Congress will render?

Also, regarding the Senatrice: I recall as soon as the DNC was hacked by the Russians she was deeply alarmed that they could hack the RNC and was scared shitless.

If KAC worked with Cambridge Analytica, then she is working for Russia and Concorde. A Russian owned media company that is being investigated by Mueller.

Also of interest, exactly how did Hannity have Cohen as his personal attorney?. It can not be by coincidence. I heard it had to do with buying real estate...Trump related.

The corruption runs deep and wide. I tnink it will take YEARS to get to the bottom of it all, and that's why the House hearings beginning with Cohen next month. The shit that will come out will bury Dumps ass. I hope!

I still find it astonishing that we are in this situation because millions of voters were not in on the joke.

by Anonymousreply 242January 12, 2019 1:58 PM

The shutdown isn't about the Wall or abut border security. It's about Trump losing the House and refusing to deal with Pelosi. So emergency powers, shut it down, etc. What's really scary about this is he can bypass the entire legislative process. At least he thinks he can. That's his goal. And the Extreme Conservatives in Congress and their donors, including the Kochs, all of whom are anti government, who are determined to starve government out of existence with outrageous tax cuts, will sit this out and do nothing. And when we are three months in and Social Security and Medicare are affected, then maybe people out here will see what Trump and the Extreme Right are really up to. This is no joke and the only hope we have is to continue to contact members of the Senate urging them to do nothing until they reopen the government. Put McConnell on his fucking knees. Make him look bad for not getting anything done. Trump shuts down government blocking programs and funds Congress has already voted on and approved. So let's shut the GOP Senate down and humiliate McConnell into doing his job.

by Anonymousreply 258January 12, 2019 3:35 PM

Another commentary conjectures that because the FBI started an investigation on Dump after he fired Comey, the FBI obtained a FISA warrant which Mueller inherited.

How delicious to think that the FBI has audio recordings of every phone call His Orange Stupidness has made. If only.

by Anonymousreply 259January 12, 2019 3:44 PM

Just a random thought about the above comments that Lindsey Graham must be compromised by sex tapes, etc. I have no doubt that he is gay but couldn't his weird comments and changes also be due to a fear of being exposed as part of the Russian shit show? Wasn't there 22 Senators or something?

by Anonymousreply 260January 12, 2019 3:46 PM

Does anyone else think the NYT article about the FBI investigation could be an early and rare leak from the Mueller team starting to set the stage for their findings?

by Anonymousreply 261January 12, 2019 3:47 PM

Maybe not a direct leak from Mueller, R261, but certainly a strong clue that trump will go down. It's just taking so damn long.

by Anonymousreply 262January 12, 2019 3:51 PM

I posted in another thread, the NYT is also being used for Pay Ops. IC is goading him into bigger tantrums because the more his fat ass is kept off balance, the easier he will be to pin. Someone, somewhere, is sitting in a shitty federal office with cinderblock walls, drinking coffee from a paper cup, with a shit eating grin watching him Tweet this morning. That’s right, they’re poking the fucking FAT BEAR.

A spit-roasted Sénatrice, and the pee pee girls w/DJT, are two videos that would make delightful entertainment. There's got to be a couple of good laughs from the pain generated by this grand, sordid mess.

by Anonymousreply 264January 12, 2019 4:03 PM

It is taking so long, I don't believe Trump will ever be brought to justice.

by Anonymousreply 265January 12, 2019 4:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 267January 12, 2019 4:14 PM

R259!!!!! Yes!!! I hadn't thought of that. A FISA Warrant. Not only that but if the Counter Intelligence division did that, then they have audio of Trump talking to people and...wait for it...they have the fucking Russians talking about Trump. OMG I'd love to hear those audios. And even more interesting?I'd bet that other countries have the Russians talking about Trump. I hope I live long enough for those recordings to be made public and we can listen to them mocking him.

by Anonymousreply 268January 12, 2019 4:16 PM

R267, I have that cunt on block, you should too. Trolls are here people!!! Block block block block block.

by Anonymousreply 269January 12, 2019 4:16 PM

Re R265, yes a bit frustrating. We want instant gratification. I don’t know anything personal about Mueller BUT I’d be willing to bet the farm that his ego would not stand unless he has the total and complete goods on Dump. Anything less would subject him to ridicule and mocking.

He ain’t gonna release his findings until they are airtight. And airtight and a direct kill they will be.

by Anonymousreply 270January 12, 2019 4:38 PM

R270, you’re replying to a troll.

by Anonymousreply 271January 12, 2019 4:42 PM

Mueller has not shown his cards. He may have irrefutable evidence that Spurs is a Puttie Poop asset.

Giuliani may hope it's all conjecture and explainable with lies, but Mueller has shared with Spurs legal team only what he cares to share, or the information is revealed from the prosecutions of other culprits in this saga.

There is an investigation into what extend, a U.S. President is working in behalf, and under the direct influence or control, of a long-time hostile foreign power.

In normal, past times, a House and Senate, regardless of party affiliations, would be moving at jackrabbit speed to remove/purge all Puttie/threatening foreign assets and other compromised individuals from any branch of government, particularly people with access to intelligence and are formulating and executing foreign policy.

by Anonymousreply 272January 12, 2019 4:43 PM

And you have to remember that Mueller has taken down organized crime organizations and families.

There is nothing to show that he hasn't approached Trump in this manner.

by Anonymousreply 273January 12, 2019 4:46 PM

There is much to show that he HAS approached trump in exactly this manner.

I just finished listening to Maddow's show last night. She had some congressman on who pointed out that most of this stuff was shared with the house intelligence committee who took everything to fat Donnie.

Now that Nunes is gone and the democrats are running the show in the house, shit is starting to come out.

Think about that for a minute. Look at yourself in the mirror. If you donated, canvassed, wrote postcards, phone banked or pushed candidates on social media - YOU helped makes this possible.

It's true.

Wow, a Rusian concern troll...

Федя, отпусти ситуацию!

by Anonymousreply 292January 12, 2019 7:44 PM

R287, that's what I think, too. I believe or at least I hope that our Intel people held back. One thing I'm almost certain of, is that the international intelligence community that used to share information and work cooperatively with us, probably stopped doing that once Trump became POTUS. They were watching him from at least 201t5 and during his campaign.

Also agree that Mueller's case will be airtight. Mueller is old school. This is the President of the United States. So even if the occupant is a disgusting turd, Mueller will have respect for the office and he will want to go before the American people with an airtight case. Not to be taken lightly. He will show his proofs, he will be very specific and he will submit his charges in a clear narrative that connects everything.

I'm impatient because as R272 has said, in another time, with a different Congress there is no way Trump would have been allowed to occupy the White House for two damned years. They'd have run his ass out long ago.

The spending bills that would end the shutdown.

Most Americans polled don't want the wall: only 28% of those polled answered that the border wall should be an immediate priority, while 19% replied it shouldn’t be an immediate priority, and 50% said it shouldn’t be a priority at all. I was watching CNN earlier covering an interview with Mike Pompeo. Obviously, he was dismissive of the NYT story and claimed Trump was no asset of Russia. Asked twice if he, as then CIA Director, knew the FBI was investigating Trump about working in behalf of Russia against U.S. interests, his replies we're evasive: and saying smilingly with deceptive comfort, Trump has not done this.

Pompeo in the House was a Teaparty type and was openingly hostile to gay rights. He appears way too eager to please Trump on a number of fronts, I. e. N. Korea, Syria, border wall, etc.

President Donald Trump confiscated his translator's notes about at least one of his meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and order the linguist not to discuss the conversations with other top U.S. officials, a new report has claimed.

Citing unnamed current and former U.S. officials, the Washington Post reported on Saturday that Trump had taken extraordinary measures to conceal the contents of his meetings with Putin.

Trump has met Putin in person five times since assuming office, and the report claims that there is no detailed record of those meetings, even in classified files.

A White House spokesman disputed the Post's account and said that the Trump administration has sought to 'improve the relationship with Russia' after the Obama administration 'pursued a flawed 'reset' policy that sought engagement for the sake of engagement.'

by Anonymousreply 336January 12, 2019 11:34 PM

Greg Miller just had this published on the Washington Post site (link too long) Part 1

"President Trump has gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal details of his conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including on at least one occasion taking possession of the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired with other administration officials, current and former U.S. officials said.

Trump did so after a meeting with Putin in 2017 in Hamburg that was also attended by then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. U.S. officials learned of Trump’s actions when a White House adviser and a senior State Department official sought information from the interpreter beyond a readout shared by Tillerson.

The constraints that Trump imposed are part of a broader pattern by the president of shielding his communications with Putin from public scrutiny and preventing even high-ranking officials in his own administration from fully knowing what he has told one of the United States’ main adversaries.

As a result, U.S. officials said there is no detailed record, even in classified files, of Trump’s face-to-face interactions with the Russian leader at five locations over the past two years. Such a gap would be unusual in any presidency, let alone one that Russia sought to install through what U.S. intelligence agencies have described as an unprecedented campaign of election interference.

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is thought to be in the final stages of an investigation that has focused largely on whether Trump or his associates conspired with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign. The new details about Trump’s continued secrecy underscore the extent to which little is known about his communications with Putin since becoming president.

[A beefed-up White House legal team prepares for battle with special counsel]

Trump and Putin had undisclosed meeting at G-20

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 7 had an undisclosed meeting that followed a first conversation during the G-20 summit in Hamburg. (Bastien Inzaurralde/The Washington Post) Former U.S. officials said that Trump’s behavior is at odds with the known practices of previous presidents, who have relied on senior aides to witness meetings and take comprehensive notes then shared with other officials and departments.

Trump’s secrecy surrounding Putin “is not only unusual by historical standards, it is outrageous,” said Strobe Talbott, a former deputy secretary of state now at the Brookings Institution, who participated in more than a dozen meetings between President Bill Clinton and then-Russian President Boris Yeltsin in the 1990s. “It handicaps the U.S. government — the experts and advisers and Cabinet officers who are there to serve [the president] — and it certainly gives Putin much more scope to manipulate Trump.”

A White House spokesman disputed that characterization and said that the Trump administration has sought to “improve the relationship with Russia” after the Obama administration “pursued a flawed ‘reset’ policy that sought engagement for the sake of engagement.”

The Trump administration “has imposed significant new sanctions in response to Russian malign activities,” said the spokesman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity and noted that Tillerson in 2017 “gave a fulsome readout of the meeting immediately afterward to other U.S. officials in a private setting, as well as a readout to the press.”

Trump allies said the president thinks the presence of subordinates impairs his ability to establish a rapport with Putin, and that his desire for secrecy may also be driven by embarrassing leaks that occurred early in his presidency."

by Anonymousreply 337January 12, 2019 11:35 PM

Greg Miller Washington Post - Part 2

"Both President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about Russian interference in U.S. elections at a news conference on July 16 in Helsinki. (The Washington Post) The meeting in Hamburg happened several months after The Washington Post and other news organizations revealed details about what Trump had told senior Russian officials during a meeting with Russian officials in the Oval Office. Trump disclosed classified information about a terror plot, called former FBI director James B. Comey a “nut job,” and said that firing Comey had removed “great pressure” on his relationship with Russia.

The White House launched internal leak hunts after that and other episodes, and sharply curtailed the distribution within the National Security Council of memos on the president’s interactions with foreign leaders.

“Over time it got harder and harder, I think, because of a sense from Trump himself that the leaks of the call transcripts were harmful to him,” said a former administration official.

Senior Democratic lawmakers describe the cloak of secrecy surrounding Trump’s meetings with Putin as unprecedented and disturbing.

Rep. Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in an interview that his panel will form an investigative subcommittee whose targets will include seeking State Department records of Trump’s encounters with Putin, including a closed-door meeting with the Russian leader in Helsinki last summer.

“It’s been several months since Helsinki and we still don’t know what went on in that meeting,” Engel said. “It’s appalling. It just makes you want to scratch your head.”

The concerns have been compounded by actions and positions Trump has taken as president that are seen as favorable to the Kremlin. He has dismissed Russia’s election interference as a “hoax,” suggested that Russia was entitled to annex Crimea, repeatedly attacked NATO allies, resisted efforts to impose sanctions on Moscow, and begun to pull U.S. forces out of Syria — a move that critics see as effectively ceding ground to Russia.

At the same time, Trump’s decision to fire Comey and other attempts to contain the ongoing Russia investigation led the bureau in May 2017 to launch a counterintelligence investigation into whether he was seeking to help Russia and if so, why, a step first reported by the New York Times.

It is not clear whether Trump has taken notes from interpreters on other occasions, but several officials said they were never able to get a reliable readout of the president’s two-hour meeting in Helsinki. Unlike in Hamburg, Trump allowed no Cabinet officials or any aides to be in the room for that conversation.

Trump also had other private conversations with Putin at meetings of global leaders outside the presence of aides. He spoke at length with Putin at a banquet at the same 2017 global conference in Hamburg, where only Putin’s interpreter was present. Trump also had a brief conversation with Putin at a Group of 20 summit in Buenos Aires last month.

look, man, most of us who have been paying attention know this fucker is a goddam traitor.

When is Fux noise going report this? Hannity needs to have a gun held to his head as he reads that WaPo article verbatim on the air.

Until those brain dead retards at Fux start reporting the facts, there will still be 30% of the country that has zero clue what is going on.

by Anonymousreply 351January 13, 2019 1:09 AM

r350, that was outrageous then and it is still outrageous now, but WHERE has the media been on this? They focused on it for about a week and then never mentioned it again. We STILL DON'T KNOW what Trump and Putin said in that private meeting! Think about that.

by Anonymousreply 352January 13, 2019 1:09 AM

R352 no we don't. But based on Trump's behavior, his statements, his actions it's obvious that the tariffs, the trade policies, the nonsense with our allies in Europe, the Anti-Nato posture, the anti EU posture, his negative disruptive anti immigration stance, his anger at the sanctions, etc. even his animosity towards individuals like John McCain are all informed by his relationship with Putin and the oligarchs. Period. Announcing abruptly that he was pulling troops out of Syria? Pulling out of a treay with Russia about missiles, shit like that. He is Putin's operative here and everything he does including his ridiculous theater with North Korea, is designed to benefit Putin.

by Anonymousreply 353January 13, 2019 1:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 357January 13, 2019 1:27 AM

YU know, if it looks like Trump is going to gain any ground at all, I have a feeling the leaks will come from the international intelligence community. I guess what I'm saying is even if those dumb asses suppress or redact or try to block anything, it's going to come out and soon. I think the only reason they've been holding back is because they are trying to let Mueller have his day. Complete his investigation. But those other countries are cooperating with the Mueller investigation, and with our own Counter Intelligence operations, and there is no way Trump can even begin to appreciate the enormous effort worldwide that is going in to taking him down. I believe that.

by Anonymousreply 358January 13, 2019 1:30 AM

This seems like its planned.....like theyre preparing the public for whats to come. Think about it....WE HAVE ALL KNOWN THESE THINGS FOR OVER 2 YEARS....suddenly, the media is coming out and saying it after pussy footing around the subject when evidence has been right in front of them all along.

by Anonymousreply 359January 13, 2019 1:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 367January 13, 2019 1:53 AM

[quote] What's happening to that case that was heard in the highest court of the land regarding the bank? They are just being fined X amt everyday?

It was not heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. They turned down the appeal. The DC Circuit's decision stands -- allowing the fines to be imposed on the corporation unless and until they comply with the subpoena. So, yes, the fines keep multiplying each day they refuse to comply.

by Anonymousreply 368January 13, 2019 1:55 AM

Ides of March The Ides of March is a day on the Roman calendar that corresponds to 15 March. It was marked by several religious observances and was notable for the Romans as a deadline for settling debts. In 44 BC, it became notorious as the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar which made the Ides of March a turning point in Roman history.

If the shutdown continues, it will ruin the US Economy and put the nation at risk. Trump doesn't care if that happens, he's only concerned about himself. Trump was/is the perfect foil for Putin. Putin uses people's weakness to get what he wants and Trump is aiding him in destroying the US whether is knows it or not.

There were protests last week but there needs to be MASSIVE protests to open the government and put pressure on McConnell and the Senate..

by Anonymousreply 384January 13, 2019 2:57 AM

I believe that one of the biggest things on Putin's "shopping list" or his "To Do " ilist for Trump, was to uncover the network of intelligence both human and electronic that we have spying on him. The meetings Pompeo has had at CIA headquarters when he was CIA Director, with top Russian Intel people including some asshole Russian who was under sanctions and they had to get a waiver to let him in? That's gold! Putin would definitely want that information, the Who, When & How. Putin would also want to know the scope of our intelligence cooperation network. When Mueller can get so specific about how the Russians did certain things, and actually name names dates and times, etc. That pisses Putin off. So yes, Trump would have been trying to compromise our intel gathering capabilities, and blow our network open. Fortunately the Europeans are a lot smarter when it comes to Putin and they would have figured out the game and taken measures to block him or misdirect the information. Fortunately Trump himself is dumb, but he would send them to someone else. Which brings me to another important point: Anyone who is still with Trump knows exactly what he is. So they're all part of it. Pompeo, Mnuchin, De Vos, Wilbur Ross, McConnell, all those fuckers.

by Anonymousreply 401January 13, 2019 7:09 AM

I saw a PBS documentary about Putin that talked about his rise to power and how he disarmed his enemies by stealth attack, tactics he learned from the KGB. His infiltration of our system is like a stealth attack, probably something he planned for years. The man is pure evil and Trump is his puppet. I don't know how the Russian people have allowed him to stay in power for years.

If there are 22 people in Congress who are compromised by Russia, maybe that's why Mueller is taking his time.

by Anonymousreply 402January 13, 2019 7:25 AM

Russia or the world will never be safe until Putin is dead. He is pure evil, yet Trump loves him.

For two years I have known Trump was working for Putin...how come these news people are acting so shocked?

by Anonymousreply 403January 13, 2019 8:07 AM

Does anyone remember the last days of the 2016 primary? Bernie Sanders was being crushed and hadn’t had any path to winning for 2 months, but still wasn’t conceding.

Obama invited Sanders to the White House, Bernie emerged looking downcast, and soon after he conceded and (temporarily) toned down his rhetoric. I say temporarily because Bernie Sanders was still dog-whistling people to vote for Trump a day before the general election on Twitter, as did his wife, and Bernie campaigned half-heartedly for Clinton, never once mentioning her name and achievements in all personality-cult rallies leading up to the general election. Well, he’s a sexist and thought she was “unqualified”, so I’ll just let that one go for now.

The point is, Obama told Sanders something in that meeting. I believe he told Sanders that Russia had compromised the election, including Sanders’ own campaign. And I believe too that Sanders felt this hacking was all “for the greater good” — he is an immature socialist (I am one myself; this is not a critique of socialism) with the near-“burn it all down” attitude of college sophomores. Sanders does not distinguish between the hyper-capitalism of Putin and the Soviet Union, and places both on a pedestal (he supports non-functioning states such as Venezuela just because of socialism and even where it hurts “the people”; he honeymooned in the USSR in the 1980s, which was almost unheard of).

I think Bernie Sanders therefore is a “fellow traveller”. He knew Tad Devine’s pro-Putin background when Devine was hired as Sanders’ campaign manager. In the last decade, Sanders has voted twice to remove sanctions against Russia. Sanders is explicitly tied to the NRA, who themselves are tied to Putin. Sanders’ former campaign manager Tad Devine was inducted by Mueller as a cooperating witness and is currently informing on his former business partner Paul Manafort. Like Jill “Putin dinner” Stein, Sanders was a spoiler candidate who used far-right rhetoric and outreach to “whiteness” under the guise of progressivism to make Trump’s election more possible.

Sanders is likely dirty. I hope people start discussing this SOON, because he is part of the puzzle, and the longer his fans (including Seth Abramson) sit on their hands and whine, or stick their heads in the sand and ignore the fact that Sanders himself likely is involved, the longer it will take this festering Trump pustule to burst.

by Anonymousreply 404January 13, 2019 8:42 AM

As per the interpreter, I am in the parallel profession of translation. As stated in the WaPo article, diplomatic interpreters have very strict codes of practice that include confidentiality and neutrality. I consider them the "elite" linguists because they train thoroughly and intensely to achieve that. It is not an on-the-fly profession, and if they break that confidentiality or neutrality themselves or are forced to, they could ruin their careers forever. I'm personally hoping that the interpreter(s) in question are not hauled into the spotlight and that there is enough evidence gathered elsewhere that they can continue to just do their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 405January 13, 2019 8:50 AM

Let's see what DT defenders show for the Sunday morning talk shows.

Madamè Lindzee and Kelly Anne were unusually quiet earlier for the weekend. Pompedoo was out there Saturday as awkward as it sounded,

Sarah, w/Miller, aggressive, reactionary statements from the WH were to be expected.

The cowardly obstructionist, McTurtle, has his head withdrawn into his shell. The SML needs to be out there explaining his actions, or lack of, in getting a re-opening of the government bill through the Senate, and working with the House to do so. He can resolve this almost immediately. Schedule a vote.

by Anonymousreply 406January 13, 2019 9:38 AM

I want to see how Chris Christie handles this on ABC. I thought his last statement on Trump, that Trump was like your 72-year-old stubborn uncle, was telegraphing how the establishment was going to talk to the base - yeah, you elected Trump to be a disruptor, but forget that image of him on the Apprentice - he's really like your stubborn Uncle Jim-Bob who shouldn't be driving but won't listen to you.

by Anonymousreply 407January 13, 2019 9:56 AM

A huge story comes out on Friday and no one to cover it over the weekend. That is simply not right.

by Anonymousreply 408January 13, 2019 10:13 AM

The thing is though who takes their stubborn Uncle Jim-Boob or their cooky, nonsense rambling Aunt Mabel serious? You really want them to have the power to govern YOUR life by being POTUS?

by Anonymousreply 409January 13, 2019 10:26 AM

Huh, R408 and R409.

by Anonymousreply 410January 13, 2019 10:36 AM

I think that's the point R409. The establishment is telling Trump voters that Trump was elected to be a disruptor and did what disruptors do … but now Trump has wandered into Uncle Jim-Bob and kooky Aunt Mabel territory, which suggests he needs to be replaced. This is the exit ramp for Trump voters... the establishment doesn't want to tell them that they were idiots for voting for Trump in the first place, which might cause Trump voters to double down... instead, Trump voters can console themselves that they weren't wrong for voting for Trump in the first place, Trump just got old and stubborn. At least, I think that's the line that Republicans are going to take.

by Anonymousreply 411January 13, 2019 10:45 AM

Sorry, I can't get behind a comparison of Trump with some crazy uncle. He's committed crimes. He broke the law. His lunatic supporters have to face that. Comparing him to your crazy uncle seems too benign. It makes him seem like a "basically good dude who has become too eccentric to be left on his own."

At some point the coverage of his lawlessness and corruption has to saturate the news media, including Fox, in such a way that in a few years, you will rarely find anyone who supported Trump out here who is willing to admit it. I know right now that seems unrealistic, but it will happen if there is a concerted effort by all the media, including Fox.

Now I know the outliers like Rush, Pirro, Ingraham, Jones, and the blonde beast who shall not be named, will refuse to go along with this, but here's the thing. We have always had those extremists, there are fringe people both on the air and in our own communities. If they're deprived of oxygen many of them will crawl back under their rocks.

In fact, I believe there were a lot of first time voters who supported Trump who will walk away pissed off at the world, his "grievance voters".So I think our task is to keep pressuring the media and members of Congress. We have to just make a stink, raise hell. Get in their faces...figuratively speaking.

Great post R404.

[quote] The establishment is telling Trump voters that Trump was elected to be a disruptor and did what disruptors do … but now Trump has wandered into Uncle Jim-Bob and kooky Aunt Mabel territory, which suggests he needs to be replaced.

Still seems rather embarrassing since one of the anti-Hillary talking points was that she was too old to even try to become POTUS? Now supposedly Trump has turned into an old fool practically overnite in his first term? No Deplorable can save face in any way shape or form when Trump isn't fit to finish his one and only term. They have to admit that they were betting on the wrong horse and that makes them look stupid and inferior.

by Anonymousreply 413January 13, 2019 11:25 AM

Trump supporters will either not accept the truth or try to convince themselves Hillary would have been just as corrupt and bad as Trump is anyway. They won’t accept any responsibility either way.

by Anonymousreply 414January 13, 2019 12:16 PM

Bingo, R414, and I've already started hearing that from a few I work with. "We had no real choice, Hillary was so corrupt!"

by Anonymousreply 415January 13, 2019 12:56 PM

In one week Trump will cross the two year threshold. At that point, Mitch can safely swap him for Pence. Why? Because Pence can then be eligible to run for president for two full terms. Mitch skittered out of town this weekend like a cockroach, knowing full well that these two stories were about to hit.

He must be absolutely delusional if he thinks Pence is electable as president, but there it is. If this theory pans out, expect him to expel Trump after this week. This means Trump gets cut loose with no deal and will not get a Pence pardon unless Pence loses in 2020. That pardon again, will only be for Fed charges. Trump will spend the rest of his life in prison.

by Anonymousreply 416January 13, 2019 1:14 PM

R415, should ask them, what exactly was this 'corruption' and where are the receipts?

by Anonymousreply 417January 13, 2019 1:15 PM

How would McConnell force Trump out? I would imagine even if he was impeached and convicted, he would have to be physically removed (probably with multiple Marines having to carry him) from the White House, kicking and screaming the entire time.

He will not go willingly. Not even for Ivanka.

by Anonymousreply 418January 13, 2019 1:17 PM

I think the GOP can’t lose Trump’s fan base. They will keep going along with him unless that changes.

by Anonymousreply 419January 13, 2019 1:21 PM

Mitch will just tell Trump that they have the votes to impeach him and that he can leave under his own terms if he just leaves.

Trump will make up some story about leaving for health reasons. They are already laying the groundwork to do so.

Nothing matters more to Mitch than losing his majority in the house and he is in jeopardy of losing just that right now. He was on some damage control mission this weekend. The polls are all blaming the GOP for this shut down. I'm hopeful that there might be an indictment for him wrapped up in the NRA investigation, but who knows. Never underestimate Mitch to play the long game.

by Anonymousreply 420January 13, 2019 1:27 PM

Trump hates the job, so they just have to persuade him to leave in a way that Trump thinks saves face. So Trump says if the Dems don't fund the wall, he'll resign in protest - it's all or nothing. Or he pulls a Sarah Palin and says that the liberals are making it impossible to do his job, so he's stepping down, and he'll keep fighting from the private sector.

by Anonymousreply 421January 13, 2019 1:29 PM

R416 McConnell would be 90 by the time Pence serves two years plus two terms. He'd be fortunate to still be around as would Sheldon Adelson, the Koch Bros, and Robert Mercer. Daughter Rebekah won't be any kind of spring chicken either. Tick-tock. Very doubtful, though, Pence will ever get elected again to any state-wide or federal office.

Maybe they think it all goes with them wherever.

by Anonymousreply 422January 13, 2019 1:39 PM

R419 The Republicans got beaten badly in November. Prospects for the Senate in 202 look bad. Anyone who assumes the "mechanisms" that they had in place to win in 2016, and to a much lesser degree in 2018, will still be in place in 2020 is deluding themselves, admittedly a practice familiar to Republicans. So they have a base, but the base is shrinking more every day. The Republican Party as it is constituted today is a small fringe party. They only win through trickery. That was the message of 2018 for the Republicans. The base is shrinking and you can't win elections by appeasing the base and ignoring the rest of the country. Democrats write off a segment of the population they know will never vote with them. Well, so do Republicans, and they a re now faced with a lot more people not supporting them. I don't think Mc Connell will personally turn on him but Mc Connell will tell him that the other members of the Senate won't. It was evident last week that Trump cannot hold the Senate. They are ready to vote and McConnell will not be able to stop it for too long. He's good at saying no. He's one of those passive/aggressive Southerners. If he is faced with a complete rebellion he will simply walk away and let it happen. The biggest immediate problem we have here is Egos. Trump & Mc Connell needs to figure out a way to save face in spite of the fact that there is no win in this. If I were Trump, I'd announce that I was deeply concerned for all the hardship this was causing good, decent federal workers. (There are some bad ones too, but what can you do!) And for that reason he is going to reopen the government, but he is going to set aside the whole wall issue and will not move one bit. He is determined to get his wall funding., so he will be open to negotiating with the Dems for that but shame on the Democrats for all the harm they have caused during this shutdown. Now this is the same deal Pelosi offered him, but he will not admit that. He will act like it's his idea to rescue our government. If Jared, or someone inside can frame it that way it might work. It's not like he has never lied before or owned something he had nothing to do with.

by Anonymousreply 423January 13, 2019 1:52 PM

Regarding saving face and allowing him to leave voluntarily, can anyone else see a health scare scenario being created for him to ease his departure amidst public sympathy? Heart attacks can be difficult to prove and his enablers are proficient spinners. Lying presidency from beginning to end.

by Anonymousreply 424January 13, 2019 1:52 PM

But...but we were assured that he was the healthiest president ever!

by Anonymousreply 425January 13, 2019 1:54 PM

R424, if he saw no other way, yes, he'd develop an illness that would allow him to resign to recover. And he'd get his pardon too, because they would look really mean if they didn't pardon a sick man.

[quote][R419] The Republicans got beaten badly in November. Prospects for the Senate in 202 look bad.

So he prolongs the shutdown, persuades Trump to get out of Dodge one way or the other (a pardon if he leaves peacefully, impeachment if he sticks around), and once Trump is out, President Pence "orders" McConnell to reopen the government, making Pence look like the good guy. That gives Pence (and Fox) over a year to work on uniting the Republican base to turn out, while Democrats are cannibalizing each other during the primaries. I do think Pence will have a primary competitor, one who won't strongly attack him or weaken him... just somebody the party has in reserve in case Pence goes down too.

My prediction.

He’ll claim he’s re-opening the government so that border patrol agents, who protect us from the brown hordes, can be paid.

He will also announce that he is not going to sign the debt ceiling increase unless the wall is first addressed .

by Anonymousreply 430January 13, 2019 2:04 PM

FACT...because of Trumps criminal and possibly treasonous conduct, HE WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO RESIGN AND WALK AWAY. This is not some second rate criminal bungling a break-in. These are crimes against the United States and our national security.

by Anonymousreply 431January 13, 2019 2:06 PM

I think the dialogue will switch next month when Cohen testifies. Maybe Dump will have a heart attack or something. I hope the shutdown ends soon enough to pave the way for the truth to begin since talking about any wall will come to an end.

by Anonymousreply 432January 13, 2019 2:09 PM

I think McConnell went home for a reason, the reason being that whatever dirty deal he is doing, he doesn’t want to do it under the scrutiny in Washington.

It’s not likely he’s just at home sitting on his hands doing nothing. He’s probably calling people trying to get something done. The question is, who are the people? His Russian handlers? It’s not likely it’s Trump, he would be screaming about it all over Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 434January 13, 2019 2:11 PM

I just had a thought. Maybe McConnell is quietly talking to Jared Kushner or Ivanka begins the scenes, trying to get Trump to stop the shutdown. If he is, it’s not working, since it was leaked that Kushner was against it and here we are anyway.

What he should do is call Miss Nancy and have her get the votes to override Trump’s veto. That’s his job. Any possibility of that happening behind the scenes?

by Anonymousreply 435January 13, 2019 2:14 PM

That would be Kevin McCarthy's job. She already has her contribution.

[quote]Any possibility of that happening behind the scenes?

He won't move against Trump unless he's decided not to run for reelection. Trying to win against a strong Democratic challenger is an easier fight than being primaried from the far-right.

I watched part of ABC's Sunday program. It was kind of a downer. Jan Karl said that his contacts were telling him that the Mueller report is going to be anticlimactic. Chris Christie said that Trump should embrace the NYT story because it supports Trump's argument that the rogue FBI was targeting him because they had a grudge. Donna Brazile would have usually pushed back, but she wasn't there. Instead, the fill-in Democrats were so polite, nobody pushed back. Heidi Heidkamp got in a dig that all the moderates, who would have kept the government open, are now gone.

Of course, Jonathan Karl has no way of knowing what is or is not going to be in that report. Mueller has run an extremely tight-lipped operation. We find out what he wants the public to know on his timetable without leaks.

[quote] Chris Christie said that Trump should embrace the NYT story because it supports Trump's argument that the rogue FBI was targeting him because they had a grudge.

Ah, more pearls of wisdom from that bloviating, beached whale of a gas-bag. Though apparently that is precisely what tRump is doing -- going after the "rogue FBI agents" who hate him. That, of course, is not the way that the FBI works, and Christie knows that (tRump doesn't either know or care). You don't lightly start a counter-intelligence probe into the sitting President of the United States to revenge a grudge or on a whim. He should be ashamed of himself for even suggesting that, except Repukes have no shame whatsoever at all.

by Anonymousreply 466January 13, 2019 6:02 PM

I assume that the "grudge" was for firing Jim Comey who the FBI agents like.

But, that doesn't hold up under the most minimal scrutiny because the FBI began investigating tRump not for the firing per se, but because of tRump's stated reason for firing him: to end the Russia investigation. He told Lester Holt on national television that he thought that the "Russher - Trump thing" was a just fiction and getting rid of Comey was a way to stop it. Mind-numbingly stupid. So, you're trying to end an investigation by firing the investigator. As if that doesn't look suspicious.

Oh, there's something there.

by Anonymousreply 467January 13, 2019 6:09 PM

I believe the Trump Tower meeting with Jr. and the now indicted Veselnitskaya was recorded by a former FBI operative who just happened to be the interpreter, Anatoli Samochorno.

This is the evidence they are using against Jr. in order to indict him, and if in fact the meeting was recorded and Trump called in, that could be what they will use to force him out of office.

I read an article in today's news about the trump administration's plan to moving forward with privatizing much of the work of the Veteran's Affairs Department, throwing tens of thousands of cruelly injured veterans of terrible wars onto the mercy of the private medical sector. The Koch brothers and other right-wingers are behind it. If it happens it will raise the common person's taxes while the billionaires enjoy their tax cuts and off-shore accounts.

This makes me sick for so many reasons. These veterans were injured while defending their country or fighting needless wars. The government that sent them there they should damn well take care of them. Try navigating private sector health care as a non-veteran, it's bad enough, especially when it comes to catastrophic injury or disease or old age. All this while they still contrive to cut the ACA, Medicare, and Social Security.

The evil of trump and his allies knows no bounds. Yes, trump is a liar, a buffoon, a crazy uncle, but he's nasty and evil through and through.

[quote]And unlike white sororities and fraternities, joining a black Greek-letter organization is not just a college activity, you belong for life. You get recognition, the mutual respect of members, powerful connections, lifelong affiliations and great parties.

One wonders that the writer imagines "white" sororities and fraternities are like if he thinks members just walk out of them on graduation day and never look back.

Or why he didn't bother to ask someone in a "white" one about their Greek experience on campus . . . perhaps one of the many black men and women who belonged to one in college.

Guarantee he knows black people who belonged to a "white" house in college. It's 2019.

Funny in a worthwhile story about how journalists need to have knowledge of the things they are covering.

oh, the Mueller report will be big big big!

Just what we know so far in the last two weeks is enough to recognize that. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

We have Manafort's failed redaction filing showing how he was giving internal polling data to his Russian handler (to target certain states/demographics?)

And we also have the judge in Flynn's case (who can see what was redacted on Flynn's paperwork) asking in full court, in front of God and everybody, if Flynn can be charged with treason.

The word "treason" has made it out of our fevered swamps and into the MSM.

McConnell is also in dereliction of his duties as one of the heads of a separate branch of government, specifically designed to act as a check on the Executive. By saying that he won't bring a vote to the floor on any bill that Trump won't sign, he's no longer performing his constitutional duties. And this, of course, isn't the first time. Merrick Garland was a giant fucking sign that McConnell was more criminal than Senatorial.

by Anonymousreply 481January 13, 2019 7:03 PM

Mueller is a RICO prosecutor who has a history of taking down large criminal enterprises. In all of his investigations he never issued a blanket report. If you read his indictments, you will see that each one is a stand alone report with detailed explanations.

Leads me to believe that Mueller will not release a singular report but will issue new indictment and unseal indictments.

THAT is when the shit will hit the Trump World fan.

[quote] Leads me to believe that Mueller will not release a singular report but will issue new indictment and unseal indictments.

Submitting a final, all-encompassing report is part of his duty as a Special Prosecutor. It's not optional. A final report would have no bearing on additional indictments or the opening of the tons of sealed indictments already filed with the court.

by Anonymousreply 484January 13, 2019 7:12 PM

Ât this point all the Muller report will do is officially confirm what we already believe to be true. Like when an entertainment magazine confirms all the gossip about so-and-so being gay by covering so-and-so's official coming out.

by Anonymousreply 486January 13, 2019 7:29 PM

I think Mueller will make sure that all the prosecutions are already filed with trials underway when he issues the final report. There might actually be nothing to see in the report because he will make sure it is already all out in the public view before the final report is issued. It will just be a summary of finding already being processed through the court system.

by Anonymousreply 487January 13, 2019 7:30 PM

Thanks for that post R404. You reminded me of something.

Something I've been suspicious as fuck about and haven't been able to let go of as being meaningful is that little trip Bernie took to the Vatican to stalk the Pope. Remember the odd trip in the middle of his campaign that he lied about and said he was invited to and then illegally used campaign funds to charter a private plane (something the corporate elite do) and take his entire family to?

I've always found that just as suspicious as Ivanka's little jaunt with her BFF Wendi.

I know at the time everyone assumed that he was doing it to try to get an endorsement of the Pope (or at least the appearance of one) but I'm not sure if there weren't other reasons?

I'm a little fuzzy on the details so I'm wondering if anyone else remembers at what point in the Primaries did this trip occur? In retrospect is there anything we can link that trip timing wise that would make it seem odd?

And who else was there at the same time? Is it a possibility that the trip was used as a method for him to meet a handler?

R502, so? Trump says other presidents have told him they want the wall. Do you believe that?

by Anonymousreply 505January 13, 2019 9:38 PM

Newsweek: Legendary journalist Carl Bernstein has said that he’s been told that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report will show how President Donald Trump helped Russia “destabilize the United States.”

“Look, Trump keeps going back to the idea we need better relations are Russia,” Bernstein continued. “Could be. He could well be right. But from a point of view of strength… rather, he has done what appears to be Putin’s goals. He has helped Putin destabilize the United States and interfere in the election, no matter whether it was purposeful or not.”

“And that is part of what the draft of Mueller’s report, I’m told, is to be about,” Bernstein said. “We know there has been collusion by [Michael] Flynn. We know there has been collusion of some sort by [Paul] Manafort. The question is, yes, what did the president know and when did he know it?”

[quote]Didn't Trump insist that Rosenstein told him that he was not a target of the Mueller investigation?

Could be true though. Rosenstein might have said that and it could totally be right --- Drumpf isn't the TARGET of the investigation. The target of the investigation is whether or not someone is colluding with Russia. The fact that Drumpf is the person that ends up being the center of it is an entirely different thing.

by Anonymousreply 508January 13, 2019 10:17 PM

R508 is correct. The Dotard did say something along those lines. But, if you paid close enough attention to the weasel words that he used, the statement was so full of holes you could drive a truck through it.

It was very much like the WH statement about Friday's NY Times story. According to this cabal of liars, the investigation went "nowhere." But, the investigation was handed over to Mueller, so we don't know where it went yet.

by Anonymousreply 509January 13, 2019 10:26 PM

Any media figure claiming Mueller's report will be anti-clmatic is being speculative like the rest, or is deceptively trying to spin in favor of Trump.

Nevertheless, anti-climatic would not necessarily mean a lack of substance or a delaration there are no major crimes noted there-in that are subject to prosecution and indictments. Anti-climatic may imply there are no new shocking revelations beyond what is already known.

I believe somewhat different. The Mueller report has over two years of collected content by a seasoned investigative team. There's already been major indictments, inclusive of pleas that will provide witness testimonies against other big fish in the complex saga. The report will be presented in legal language, not flowerly or entertaining with emotion.

I expect it will damning about DJT's behavior, and that of certain family members and cohorts such as Stone among potentially a bunch outside the administraion and senior roles that were in the campaign structure. Likely there will be additional content about Russian operatives and their methodologies.

Does it seem like the amount of Russia/Trump information has been escalating lately? A slow drip that is steadily increasing.

by Anonymousreply 518January 13, 2019 11:11 PM

Since Trump thinks in terms of TV, this is the buildup to "Sweeps Month."

by Anonymousreply 519January 13, 2019 11:17 PM

Imagine how symbolic it would be if Trump were to resign on or around August 9th this year: the 45th anniversary of Nixon's resignation.

When all the information comes to light and the evidence is laid out for the public to see, I'm certain that one line of defense that they will come up with is that the Dotard was an unwitting dupe who unintentionally bumbled his way into -- gasp -- committing treason. And, because he didn't know what he was doing, he lacked the requisite intent to be a traitor to his country. Which, of course, ignores the fact that -- if their excuse were true -- he would be too fucking stupid to lead a parade let alone the United States.

But everything points to him being a willing participant in this scheme. It seems like collusion because they were in fact conspiring with Putin and his henchmen to interfere in the 2016 election and give Cheatolini the keys to the WH. In return they expected certain favors and they've gotten them. The nonsense that Ted Cruz was peddling this morning on Meet the Press about tRump being harder on Russia than Obama was laughable. (Of course Chuckles Todd let him get away with it.)

Our government has been hijacked by traitors -- and the Rethuglicans are just fine with it.

by Anonymousreply 541January 14, 2019 1:29 AM

R541 yeah, I have a feeling, "proving his intent," is going to be a sticking point.

by Anonymousreply 545January 14, 2019 1:45 AM

Dotard has had five meetings with Putin and he would not allow anyone to know what they talked about. That does not show ignorance, it shows knowledge.

by Anonymousreply 546January 14, 2019 1:53 AM

r541.....theres one piece of evidence that shoots that claim to hell....He was receiving regular classified briefings telling him what the Russians were up to. Any action/inaction from that point forward become criminal offenses in and of themselves.

by Anonymousreply 547January 14, 2019 1:56 AM

One thing that really is hitting home with me, and I hope others are thinking about it too, is as all of this unfolds, and we learn more and more, is that the Gang of Eight was getting intelligence briefings and they had to know a lot more than we do about Trump's involvement. Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan. Those fuckers knew before the damned election. And they certainly knew after it. And as they watched these past two years they knew. They a re culpable. They need to be charge with either crimminal negligence or something. They are fucking traitors, IMo.

by Anonymousreply 548January 14, 2019 1:58 AM

I agree, R548 and I hope that when it all comes down they don't forget to include Paul Ryan in the mix. He cannot get off that easy.

by Anonymousreply 549January 14, 2019 1:59 AM

DJT was asking Russia on live TV during the campaign to hack HRC's Email. He was messaging 3 things: 1) labeling HRC and her Emails as sinister; 2) asking Russia (see, they could be our friends) to do a good act to expose a dirty candidate; and to imply he hasn't talked to Russia prior about covert activities and trickery. His fans cheered this, not knowing or caring, about the tactical intent, or not troubled by inviting a foreign adversary to intrude into a U.S. judicial matter. To DJT's base, anything damaging to HRC, justifies the means. No, DJT was not unwittingly doing Putty's bidding. Putty has the goods in this relationship and his Clown Prince must oblige.

by Anonymousreply 550January 14, 2019 2:01 AM

The Russians have been setting this up and talking to him about it for years. First in 2007, then again in 2011. He wanted guarantees. After all, he's not a loser. It was the media and political pundits who speculated that he was doing this to promote himself that he never expected to win. But I'm convinced he never expected to lose, that would have been the shocker as far as he was concerned. There have been other occasions when foreign government sought to influence our elections. But they were always blocked because the political professionals, the staff and the candidate turned them in and reported it, and our Intel community was on it. But this time nothing seemed to work. And now we have a shit mess to clean up.

by Anonymousreply 556January 14, 2019 2:22 AM

Im just amazed at the way the media is reacting . Seriously. Anyone with a working brain cell knew what was going on when the first reporting started hitting 6 months before the election in 2016. I know these Treason threads didnt start until Mueller was appointed, but there were multiple Russia threads many months before that. I even remember discussing different articles about Trump/Russia as early as May/June of 2016 with friends of mine. So we knew. Why is it a big deal for the media NOW ?

by Anonymousreply 557January 14, 2019 2:22 AM

R557 I work with several Deplorables and it's fascinating to listen to them spin. The hypocrisy is really staggering. Any time you point out how something they're bitching about was actually something the Rethugs did --- the about face and excuses for it... I just have no words to explain how it all seems like they're bots that have been programmed to automatically spew out responses.

And then I remember they're Fox viewers so they pretty much are.

by Anonymousreply 558January 14, 2019 2:24 AM

R557

You ask a valid question, why now?

My only guess and hope is that the Media has finally been told by their Overlords that it's okay to start preparing the masses for the shit that's about to come out... meaning, the Rethugs no longer have a need for Bone Spurs and they're ready to give him the boot.

by Anonymousreply 559January 14, 2019 2:26 AM

ABC’s “This Week,” ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl said his sources “interacting with” special counsel Robert Mueller’s team said Mueller’s forthcoming report was “almost certain to be anti-climactic.”

KARL: What I am getting is that this is all building up to the Mueller report and raising expectations of a bombshell report. And there have been expectations that have been building, of course, for over a year on this. But people who are closest to what Mueller has been doing, interacting with the special counsel caution me that this report is almost certain to be anti-climactic. If you look at what the FBI was investigating in that New York Times report, you look at what they were investigating, Mueller did not go anywhere with that investigation. He has been writing his report in real time through these indictments and we have seen nothing from Mueller on the central question of, was there any coordination, collusion, with the Russians in the effort to meddle in the elections? Or was there even any knowledge on the part of the president or anybody in his campaign with what the Russians were doing, there’s been no indication of that …

STEPHANOPOULOS: They hadn’t laid that out yet in the indictments but how do things like the Trump Tower meeting with Russians, Don Jr., Paul Manafort, Paul Manafort giving polling data to Ukrainian oligarchs, the pursuit of a Trump Tower in Moscow. How does that fit into this theory?

KARL: What we’ve certainly seen over and over again is the people around the president, first of all, have been willing to lie to investigators, and had their own dealings with Russians, had their own agendas with Russians. And Manafort was trying to get paid for his work on behalf of Ukraine. Flynn had his own dealings. But it is not added up to anything of the central question, again, was there anybody – was the Trump campaign aware of or coordinating with the Russians in their effort to meddle with the election. So far there’s been nothing on that and I’m led to believe don’t expect there’s going to be any

by Anonymousreply 565January 14, 2019 2:34 AM

Of course they are R564.

"Donald Trump and the political action committees for Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and John McCain accepted $7.35 million in contributions from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.

During the 2015-2016 election season, Ukrainian-born billionaire Leonard "Len" Blavatnik contributed $6.35 million to leading Republican candidates and incumbent senators. Mitch McConnell was the top recipient of Blavatnik's donations, collecting $2.5 million for his GOP Senate Leadership Fund under the names of two of Blavatnik's holding companies, Access Industries and AI Altep Holdings, according to Federal Election Commission documents and OpenSecrets.org."

by Anonymousreply 573January 14, 2019 2:50 AM

R565 This Jon Karl is talking like Manafort was acting independently of the Trump campaign. He was hired by Trump to head the campaign. How could Trump not know? It's like these people go out of their way to encircle Trump in an innocent bubble away from the the long list of crimes and treason perpetrated by his inner circle. The more logical conclusion by any non-biased journalist is that Trump is the common denominator directing all these crimes and treason. Instead these fake journalists are trying to sell some ludicrous notion like mob crimes have nothing to do with the mob boss.

by Anonymousreply 574January 14, 2019 2:51 AM

Trump’s cowardice is legendary r570. His complete lack of any balls whatsoever was revealed by his reaction to Vietnam. My father was a working class kid, he was drafted, and was in Vietnam when I was born. My father came back an alcoholic and never recovered, and died when I was 26. I lost my father and a childhood because of that war, thousands are like me. And in spite of what the war did to my father, he loved his country — he would get teary-eyed when he heard the national anthem.

Trump? The only thing that has ever made Trump misty-eyed is when he realized he had won the Presidency by cheating. I say it again, his cowardice is legendary. A real man would have wanted to prove to themselves that they could fight for and win the Presidency of their own merit. He’s not a man.

by Anonymousreply 575January 14, 2019 2:51 AM

[quote] A real man would have wanted to prove to themselves that they could fight for and win the Presidency of their own merit.

He's delusional to believe that he did win it on his own merit. The same way he truly believes he was a "self-made" millionaire.

by Anonymousreply 576January 14, 2019 2:52 AM

Why do you think the main focus for the first 6 months of his presidency was that he was not an illegitimate president, and that he was elected by a majority. Trump projects....he knew he cheated, and he knew who was responsible.

by Anonymousreply 577January 14, 2019 2:57 AM

But r547, he’ll just say he never takes or reads briefings - something he’s proud of. He will still claim ignorance though we know that’s not possible. I really hope recorded conversations are part of the proof.

by Anonymousreply 579January 14, 2019 3:01 AM
