Listen, we all have seen examples of bad plastic surgery and addiction to fillers and botox. I don't think Brenda is a stranger to either, but I don't think she looks bad. Compare her to Hunter Tylo or Leslie Charleson or Joan Van Ark or that lady who plays Bobbie Spencer. I wouldn't say she looks natural either, but I don't gasp when I see her. IMO, here's the deal with a character like Paul. You keep the actor on contract with a 1 day a week guarantee and you drag him out to be a talk to from time to time. That's all you really need him for. It keeps the fans happy and it keeps the show grounded. I understand the show needs to free up cash for new characters, but certain older characters need to be bullet proof, not all of them, but some them.

Every show needs an "Ada" or "Bob & Kim" or a "Lisa" or a "Maggie Horton". Just a been there, done that character to listen to the younger characters and to break the 4th wall and wish everybody a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year every year or to acknowledge the show's anniversary each year.

I don't miss Dougie-centric stories at all, but it doesn't make sense that the character of Paul isn't at least recurring to occasionally appear to bark orders at Rey's tits.

If the new regime brings Paul back they'll have to come up with the money to re-build his office, as Mal totally re-did the police station and his 10X10 room was erased.

This town is set in Wisconsin. Y&R could be telling compelling soap stories about all the factories closing up and the loss of jobs and how that drives people to make choices they wouldn't normally make. You could tell some great stories about a young girl or guy from the wrong side of town looking for his/her come up. You could tell a story about the Rosales family being Americans but being lumped in with all the other brown people and show how it's affecting them. I understand soaps needing to be escapist entertainment, but you can take real world elements and blend them into fiction to make good soap drama. What if Niki became a Sarah Palin type and anti-immigrant, while she is also fucking Arturo. What if Victor was closing factories down and became targets of some fired workers.

Daniel Goddard is the luckiest SOB on soaps. A horrible actor who really should be the first to be cut when budget cuts are made. He's been able to survive through each regime due to the inexplicable popularity of Lane.
