I told them to get rid of everything Rosales in the survey. I told them to bring Doug Davidson back and to never never never consider bringing tit grabber back. It would set back the metoo movement having that perv around. Theres a reason that no one will hire him anywhere.

The woman who plays Kerry was also on the comedy central show "Another Period." She played Flobelle. She was a few pounds heavier (not fat just not skeletal) and looked a lot more feminine. In addition, she was a much better actress. She comes across stilted and uncomfortable on Y&R, which is why it's not a stretch to think trans, as most trans come across that way. On AP, which is a scripted with room for improvisation, she was relaxed and funny.

Kerry and Jack are a weird pairing and the fact no one in GC thinks it's odd she is 30 years younger than this effeminate older man is really weird. Bergman is the kind of actor who if he gets a whiff that this pairing is not popular will want Kerry gone from the show. He'd probably like a Kyle/Lola/Jack triangle.

Kola is written like a couple of high school kids dating instead of real adults pushing 30s for a reason. That's the only way Mealor can pass as a straight love interest.

I wouldn't expect Griffith to write the Rosales familia out. .. During his last stint, he himself created the characters of "Detective Alejandro Chavez" and Alex's sister, "Adriana" (named after Griffith's own wife). .. These two creations weren't all that dissimilar to Detective Rey and his sister, Lola. .. Like Rey, Detective Alex was continually getting in everyone's face while investigating crimes in Genoa City, and Adriana was involved with a core family member (Noah Newman). .. The main difference between Adriana and Lola would be that Adriana wasn't a virgin, and she was more or less seen as a troublemaker instead of being a good girl. .. Griffith's creations were hampered by the fact that Ignacio Serricchio (Alex) wouldn't sign a contract with the show (JFP let her FOJ work that way), and the actress who played Adriana wasn't very good. .. But there was even mention of other relatives back in NYC.

btw - The Rosales family is also on the radar of the CBS Diversity office.

Victor will never be diminished, because Victor is one of the ONLY iconic soap characters left. He is on the same level as Erica Kane, and Luke and Laura, in that even people who don't watch soaps know him. Erica is gone, because AMC is gone. Luke is gone because the actor retired. GH tried to do away with Laura, and the fans raised hell until she was rehired.

I stopped watching this show for a few weeks because it had gotten so boring. I tried watching it yesterday, but I kept fast forwarding through it. It is still a bore. I would love to see Victor Newman leave the show for good and see Lola, Tessa, and Mariah leave with him. I am also okay with Paul not being on the show. I do not think he adds much value to the show. I prefer to see Rey; he and Sharon have good chemistry, but I think Sharon has good chemistry with everyone (except Victor).

I do not think the Rosales family is the problem. I think the writing is the problem. I like Rey and Mia. I do not like Lola. It is hard to like Arturo because I find his "acting" distracting. I think a Mia and Billy Abbott pairing might be interesting.

I think someone mentioned it before that the show should have a contest for fans to submit story ideas and then choose the best one. I think any idea a fan would have is better than what's on the air now.

I am sure it is not easy producing a daily drama, but I would think the creative people (writers) should be able to do better than what they are doing now. I would rather watch old episodes of Guiding Light from the early 1980s than current-day Y&R.

Personally, I do not care about iconic characters. I care about good stories. And good writers can create new iconic characters. At the end of the day, it did not matter how iconic Erica Kane was; she was not iconic enough to save AMC from cancellation.

R398 Iconic characters are important. Of course iconic characters can't save a show by themselves, but just losing them for no reason is suicidal. With the current state of daytime soaps, there will not be any iconic characters created now, regardless of how wonderful the actor or writers are.

For instance, look at ATWT, Lisa was an iconic character, the ONLY daytime character to have a prime time spin off built around them, but in the last years she was sidelined, and the show suffered for it.

Less of Victor was a good idea in 2018. Plus Braeden took a few weeks off. No big fan of Mal but wtf was he supposed to do? The character had to be sidelined. Plus Victor has gotten away with a lot of shit over the years. In reality he’d be in prison for much of it. Fuck Braeden. The show is bad right now. This current thing of a stranger running around the Newman ranch is beyond stupid with all the security and surveillance. Practically everything revolving around the Rosales family is fast forwardable. Phyllis running with Jabot with no experience is laughable. What could’ve been a good story Jabot struggling after Ashley took all the patents is non existent. The Ashby’s need to be written off and serve no purpose. Devon and Neil for that matter.

I, for one, am loving the show. It's best it's been in years. The Rosales family is here to stay.

A recast would never work. KSJ was too identified with the role and the old black ladies who are probably 50% of Y&R's audience would never accept a replacement. Maybe they'd go for someone like Rick Fox and he probably could pull it off, but it's a longshot.

Unfortunately, Neil's death means that Devon becomes the Winters patriarch.

As crazy as Victoria Rowell is, I was really hoping we would see Dru and Neil together again, even for a brief moment. Rowell and KSJ had great chemistry. They were never able to successfully pair Kristoff with any other actress than Victoria in my opinion, although I didn't mind Neil with Ashley.

I'm not averse to the idea of recasting Neil, but if they opt to go that route, then I think they should probably wait at least a year - just out of respect.

Right now, the character of Neil isn't fronting any compelling storyline, so they could always just continue to say that he's shuttling between his daughter, Lily, up in Lakewood, and his son, Moses, in Chicago (or is it NYC?).

Anyway, when they find another actor to take over the role, then have Neil return to Genoa City with a teenaged Moses (who was actually born just a year after Charlie & Mattie). Having Neil play something with a new, older Moses would begin a new chapter for the character, so it would allow the recast to play something that KSJ isn't all that associated with.

I could see someone like Damian T. Raven in the role of Neil.

Unfortunately, Rick Fox cannot act . . . Oh, wait.

When the Hughes and Lucinda and John Dixon and the Snyders interacted with these people, it made us think they were really living their lives.

Poignant as well as somewhat ironic that KSJ's last scene is about Neil expressing concern and hope that Devon is continuing to recover mentally and emotionally from the loss over the death of someone he loved.
