A lot of times it's more of a general term for not approaching the talent while he prepares for a scene to get into, or stay, in character. Sometimes actors feel like they are naked and vulnerable when they are in character and sometimes it's just annoying for them to switch from fictional character to their true self when someone asks them if they still plan on having a beer afterwards or something like that and then having to switch back to being the fictional character. It's like when you are reading a book, get distracted, and then have to find the spot where you stopped reading (and that happening several times in one chapter can get really annoying).

Some people do underestimate how difficult it is to take on a fictional character and give a decent performance the director is satisfied with. That sometimes does require a lot of preparations (especially when make-up and prosthetics are involved and you are already uncomfortable).

I totally had a thing for Lucas Hedges until I saw him in person. I go to a nondescript gym in the Valley that occasionally gets names. Completely average looking IRL. I still would, but I'm over it.

He actually lives in Vegas to separate himself from the Hollywood shit entirely. I heard it was him that convinced Karl to come to his first Star Trek fan convention in Vegas, which he booked last minute. Had so much fun meeting fans that Karl's been a staple since. I know a quite popular Asian stuntman who is friends with John; says he's a really no bullshit guy. The kid who played Chekov, Anton Yelchin, is really missed by the crew. He was apparently just a wonderful young guy. His death hit the crew hard.

Pine is a mess. This has been known since 2009. And he hasn’t been cute since around 2012 or 2013.

I'm really curious about Tom Hardy and his longevity. Venom was a massive, almost incomprehensible hit, but I've heard that he's been a nightmare on multiple sets. The cinematographer on Mad Max said that he delayed shooting in the brutally hot desert by nearly two hours, almost every day. Add in the the fist fight with Inarritu, fight with Refn, and disrespect to Roskam, and he's got a pattern. But he keeps getting hired and appears to have a good relationship with Nolan.
