Thanks again OP
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 5, 2018 7:30 PM |
Isn't this a bit premature as there are still 18 responses left in the old thread?
Or was OP just so eager to get a thread with a cutesy poo title started she wet herself in anticipation?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 5, 2018 7:45 PM |
It was necessary, R6, because the previous thread is so long and loaded with links that it takes several seconds to get the page to scroll down even a little bit. It also made my phone shut down when I had 32% battery power left.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 5, 2018 7:51 PM |
DL really functioned a lot better when you had to “turn the page” after every 20 posts (was it 20?).
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 5, 2018 7:51 PM |
R6 is on block. Wonder why.

"[R6] is on block. Wonder why."
Because you're a precious little snow flake who can't stand opinions that diverge from your narrow minded, idiotic view of the world?

The trolls seem not to have found this thread yet, so I'll fill in for them: "I am outraged that Mueller recommended no jail for the traitor Flynn. And now it looks like Pence will go free, as everybody is saying. Mueller was to be the salvation of the motherland, and now my faith in him, and in everything, is crushed and I have lost all hope!"
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 5, 2018 9:07 PM |
Don't forget the "Mueller is a Republican" screed, R17.

I also have R6 blocked.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 5, 2018 9:11 PM |
r17, Stop the conflating. I for one am not a troll, never have been (why would the US be called "the motherland"? I hate even "homeland".). I simply want "Lock her up!" Man to be, well, locked up! I'm all about IRONY.
And FTR, I have never expressed any of the rest of your post.

r18, If Mueller is a Republican, good. This eliminates the usual accusation by other Republicans.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 5, 2018 9:13 PM |
I don't know what you're talking about, R22. My post was making fun of the trolls in the last thread. Who are you, anyway?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 5, 2018 9:14 PM |
Attention trolls: please opt for creativity. If you're going to troll, at least be entertaining. The following themes have been thoroughly played out and are now boring to us, so don't bother:
1. Mueller is Deep State
2. Mueller is secretly targeting Obama/Clinton (or related QAnon bullshit)
3. There is no collusion/evidence, it's all fake news
4. This investigation has been a big nothingburger
5. This investigation/Mueller is failing/going to fail/disappointing
6. "I'm so CONCERNED!"
7. Unless precisely ___ happens, this was all for nothing!
8. Collusion isn't a crime!
(Fellow non-trolls, please feel free to add to the played-out list.)
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 5, 2018 9:19 PM |

Perhaps we should just keep these tactics under the Troll Farm thread.

by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 5, 2018 9:45 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 5, 2018 9:46 PM |
back on topic - at the end of the last thread, I was clutching my pearls about the Saudis getting nuclear power.
It seems like Flynn was the one trying to make this deal.
After listening to old episodes of Mueller, she wrote, I have to wonder if the scumbag, Prince, was going to be put in charge of the mercs "guarding" those reactors and doing the security.
I hope he gets jailed.

It’s interesting that the focus has been mostly on Cohen, Manfort, and Stone in recent months, and Flynn disappeared from the news cycle.
I’ve been wondering about his cooperation with Mueller, and I guess that he’s decided to do the right thing for himself and America. At least I hope so.

by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 5, 2018 10:41 PM |
Hill reporting that the White House is considering replacing Pence on the 2020 ticket. Supposedly because he doesn't add anything concrete to the ticket.
I think it's a veiled threat because of Flynn and what Pence will have to say. And the fact that they leaked this today.

I can explain the choice of Pence with a personal anecdote: my mother, a racist and hateful evangelical, was thrilled that Trump picked a "sexy man of faith". My parents came for the tax cut, but stayed for the smiley white phony holy dude.

by Anonymous | reply 84 | December 5, 2018 11:41 PM |
Trump already started campaigning for 2020 a few days after he got sworn in. That way he was allowed to receive campaign donations (certainly not bribes! *LOL*) and there was something about staff not being able to testify or something.

Even if she doesn't face any indictments, I hope Ivanka's reputation is so tarnished that she'll never think about running for Pres in the future. You know conservatives have already talked about it. They act like she's the nation's princess.
but Ivanka might be facing state charges (hopefully)

I imagine Whitaker was ordered by Trump to get the unredacted Flynn memo so that he could read it. That is, so Whitaker could read it to him. He looked extremely glum this morning and it had nothing to do with being at a funeral.

[quote]I think Trump will only run again if it will keep him from prosecution; or, if someone goads him into it. Both are pathetic.
The ONLY thing standing between Trump and a prison cell is his office. He will do everything he can to hold on to that power. You better believe he has every intention of running again. I'm sure in his mind he has no choice.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | December 6, 2018 12:09 AM |
There's no way Trump and Whitaker have seen the unredacted memo. Trump would have been on such a ragebender his handlers would have had to shoot him with an elephant tranquilizer gun.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | December 6, 2018 12:10 AM |
My understanding from legal Twitter is that two groups of people had access to the unredacted memo: the judge and Mueller's office.
Mueller seems pretty careful about stuff like that.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | December 6, 2018 12:13 AM |
And I must say I'm sorely disappointed that Trumpito didn't take the stage at Poppy Bush's funeral like a drunk ex at a wedding rehearsal dinner.

Russia Witch Hunt! What are you gonna do? President Bush had it easy. But he was still pretty great. You think he was great? Could be."

by Anonymous | reply 98 | December 6, 2018 12:28 AM |
so it seems like from the way Fox is spinning things, Flynn will probably end up with a gig on that network. Just quickly flipped over and that scumbag lawyer Joe DiGenova just said on idiot Tucker Carlson's show that Flynn never lied and was instead framed. It started with Sally Yates deciding she would frame him so they could then get at Trump.
Yes this is all bullshit crazy talk but the millions of deplorables who watch this shit BELIEVE IT
and again I know there are more of us than them but they always reliably vote. Liberals and moderates are much more flaky.

Trump has to run in 2020, so he can continue to use campaign to continue to fund his legal bills.

R76, I agree with you to a large extent, I posted in the previous thread about Mueller’s wording on aggravated circumstances vs enormous mitigating factors. I struggle with it too, my post ended with “lock the mother fucker up.”
I do think the SC team, and the judge, have an obligation to weigh out the totality of Flynn’s life to achieve a fair and just sentence, and I think this sends a strong tone of mercy and fairness — no one can say they’re going too far or being vengeful!!! However, at the end of the day, yes, Flynn is a traitor and as such MUST serve some time! I hope that happens.
So having said all that, the other huge piece that we need to see is this......While both our emotions and logic tell us Flynn should serve time, Mueller is also doing this as part of a legal strategy to influence the many other witnesses in this case. Mueller playing his hand this way WILL influence other witnesses to cooperate, and we want as much cooperation as possible so that we can a) understand exactly what they did and not miss a single detail and b) root out every single American involved.
So while I desperately want Flynn to do time, if this mercy helps take down Trump, I’m all in. Whatever it takes, whatever it takes, just bring Trump DOWN.
And while we all know Trump is insane and a narcissist, he has “some” instincts and I guarantee he’s shitting his pants. He is so in over his head, and that fat fuck knows it. Tick tock mother fucker!

by Anonymous | reply 105 | December 6, 2018 12:43 AM |
Hmmmmmm. Let’s humor the idea for a minute that the Flynn redacted text focused on Pence and Jared — strong possibilities. If Trump starts to believe that is true, he will absolutely remove Pence from the 2020 ticket, which in turn makes Pence more likely to become a cooperating witness. Trump would be wiser to keep Pence close, but his impulsive nature doesn’t make it likely.
Next, what if Trump starts to believe for real that Jared has turned state’s evidence? Next moves? If Trump believes that, he will turn hard and fast and I actually believe that would be the only scenario in which he could turn on Ivanka. He would tell her she has to pick — her husband or her daddy. Of course, Ivanka will choose her husband because cooperating with Jared is her only ticket out of this mess. Cooperating is her only assurance that she’ll be out of prison to see her children. Staying loyal to daddy means the maximum sentence.
Look for an announcement that Ivanka/Jared are moving back to the tri-state area. That will be our signal that Trump and Ivanka have split. I also think Ivanka will eventually counsel Junior that daddy done him wrong, that daddy shouldn’t have asked him to take a bullet. And if Ivanka and Junior think like that, then all three could turn state against their father for reduced sentences.
Of course, it’s all speculation, but wouldn’t that be fun? Watching his flesh and blood turn on him just to save their own asses lolol? This is how I daydream nowadays....

We've definitely had some dishonest presidents, some corrupt presidents. Have we ever had one so single minded in his narcissism, or so "eyes on the prize" when it comes to his own advantage. Lyndon Johnson was selfish, vulgar, nasty, crazy at times, and a political coward when it came to Vietnam, but he actually cared about the poor and civil rights and doing something about the fucked up situation for black people in this country. Nixon was a dickhead for the ages and a terrible man in so many ways, but he actually cared about foreign policy and his detente combined with opening China geostrategy was exactly what was needed at the time. And he actually gave a shit about the world situation. But Trump truly doesn't seem to care about anything but his own money and power and fame. The absolute worst president we've ever had.

Pence is already singing to Mueller. He probably was singing months ago. He strutted around that cathedral like a boss this morning...before Trump arrived. He was schmoozing with other VIPs, greeting people and was more animated than I've ever seen him. So was Mother! She even chatted up Hillary and Pence was very friendly to Hillary & BIll and the Obamas. Then when Trump arrived Pence and mother sat stone faced like statues in their seats. Trump totally ignored him. Did not acknowledge his own VP at all.
The only person Donnie JR can implicate who is above him in the pecking order is his own father. IMO, I think Jared, Donnie, Bannon Parscale and the Cambridge Analytica people will be indicted in the next round. Stone too. Prince, and hopefully a few members of Congress. Trump is gloomy because Cohen, Flynn, Manafort are all guilty. Flynn, Gates and Cohen are singing like birds. When they raided Cohen they found a treasure trove of tapes and emails. Lots of good stuff. Cohen taped everything. Between the noose tightening by Mueller's team, the House flipping to Democratic majority, and...this is a big one...Putin not nearly as friendly and supportive as he has been in the past, Trump is finally realizing he is in the shitter. And Mueller waited until his written answers were turned in.

Hilarious and pathetic to read that Trump tried to ensure from the Bushes that there'd be no shade directed his way at GHWB's funeral.
A) Trump knew it was a real possibility and B) he couldn't take it. Sheer cowardice.
The hilarity though is in the fact that there didn't even need to be shade pointed his way, particularly. Just saw a clip on another thread of a former Canadian PM praising Poppy's human qualities with total respect and affection.
Message understood - but there cannot have been one mourner in the Cathedral not also thinking, And Look Who We're Stuck With Now. There he was at the front: fat, awkward, wrong in every way, trying not to acknowledge the obvious. In his silent rage he probably blamed the Bushes for reneging on their 'deal.'

If Trump doesn’t replace Pence before 01/01/2019, it’s not going to happen until the 2020 Convention.
As R131 explains, come the beginning of the year, Trump will need a goodly number of House Dems to vote with the House Republicans to approve a midstream replacement. Unless he proposes a pretty much nonpartisan Veep (??Warren Buffet???) it ain’t gonna happen.
The Democratic House will vote down Nikki H. (Trump probably doesn’t trust her anyway); Little Marco (though he might have had a slim chance had Gillum won the governorship) or even Mittens.
If Pence is forced out, come January, the House would rather let the Veep slot stay open (or use it for extreme leverage against the Senate) on the off- chance Trump is relieved of high office after fatally choking on a Big Mac (or whatever).
Then, they’d let the Constitution dictate the choice of our next President.

Mike Pence probably dislikes Trump more than Trump dislikes him, (and Pence's wife hates Trump). Hillary could win 2020, because people believe that Putin / The Republican Party / Trump stole it from her in 2016 and work extra hard (by voting for her) to make it happen this time. I don't think anyone will sit back and go "Oh, I don't have to vote, she got it in the bag!".

Apparently Trump ran out of that church with his ass on fire yesterday. The news reports are that he spoke to no one and left so quickly once the service was over, that he was back in the White House before the hearse pulled away from the church. So with all the international guests like King Abdullah of Jordan, Angela Merkel, Prince Charles, John Major the former Prime Minister of the UK, and others, etc. he didn't even bother with the basic courtesy of a greeting. I haven't read anything, but since the family was at Blair House I wonder if people stopped by and visited with them there. The Clintons, Obamas, and others.
If Trump replaces Pence he will do it at the end of his first term. It will be done so that Pence finishes out the term and he chooses a new VP for his second term campaign. But The Senate leadership and the big donors will have a lot to say about who he chooses. At this point I don't see Trump running for a second term. I firmly believe he will have a health crisis. His relationship with the GOP leadership in the Sen ate is eroding, he lost the House and that sent a message to the GOP, and his relationship with Putin is eroding. All you have to do is study the body language and the dynamics.
And if Mattis and others are right and Putin did attempt to meddle in the 2018 elections, he sure fucked up the outcome because the House races and the increased vigilance, and voters who are more aware seemed to defeat Putin's efforts or at least point out flaws in the execution of Putin's plans. Apparently it is still easier to steal votes on a statewide basis but not so much in the Congressional district races. And the vigilance and the challenges are more aggressive statewide.
Putin found willing accomplices because the Republican party itself is so corrupt. But I can definitely see the climate changes in Trump World. I don't think the Mercers, Parscale or Bannon want to go to prison. But Mueller is definitely looking at them. Some may even be cooperating. Not Bannon because he's an arrogant fuck, but the Mercers maybe.
by Anonymous | reply 198 | December 6, 2018 4:50 PM |
That arrogant fuck Bannon is the most likely to have flipped and to be secretly cooperating....most loudmouths are inherently cowards. Bannon is all talk. He would sell his first born to stay out of prison...as would Trump.

Not sure if anyone posted this link yet but this is a really excellent analysis by attorney and author Seth Abramson absolutely worth reading.
From the article, "To me, from what I see as a legal professional -- not a medical professional -- Donald Trump is in fact someone who is pathological. He is apparently, to me, a malignant narcissist, a pathological liar and someone whose instincts are effectively criminal instincts. Donald Trump will always act for his own personal gain. Usually, it’s something venal, sometimes it's for women, but almost all the time it’s money. There’s actually no consideration whatsoever for the country or the well-being of anyone outside his immediate family. And sometimes I even question whether he cares about most of the people in his family.
That’s what scares me the most about Donald Trump. Donald Trump is a deeply broken, antisocial individual whose finger is daily on the nuclear button. That’s why this is a national emergency, not because I do not like this aspect or some other aspect of what he says on public policy.

Devin Nunes May Be The Next To Go Down Thanks To Mike Flynn
Mike Flynn told special counsel Robert Mueller everything, which includes the role of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) in the Russia scandal
The Valley Voice, a community newspaper in Nunes’s district wrote in November 2017:
As reported by the Valley Voice in May, on January 18, Nunes attended a breakfast meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu at the invitation of disgraced former Trump National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who was also present. Former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus may also have attended.
Nunes and Flynn were members of the Trump administration’s transition team at the time the meeting took place. Two days after the meeting, Flynn accepted his position as national security adviser to the President. By February 13, he had been fired for failing to disclose his paid work as a Turkish lobbyist.

As for Pence, Trump might have heard the speculation that Pence (or one of Pence's minions) was behind the op-ed letter to the NYT, talking about taking documents off the President's desk. Also, by now Pence must be having serious talks with the donors about the possibility of Pence running for President, so maybe one of Trump's wealthy friends gave him some gossip about Pence's maneuvers.

We were lucky the Post reporters were allowed free rein to work, and the biggest parts of the story were revealed even before the presidential election. The White House legal staff despairs of formulating any response to Mueller's report when it comes out, mainly because they know Trump won't stick to any response they plan. Giuliani sounds almost like a realist here.

From the Jill Wine-Banks tweet at R305:
[quote] LBJ left VP vacant for 2 years after he became Pres after JFK assassinated.
Could someone who tweets tell Jill that LBJ had no choice but to leave the Vice Presidency unfilled after JFK's assassination. There was no constitutional mechanism for filling the office of VP of the US when that happened in 1963. The 25th Amendment -- which provides for how a president nominates and the Congress confirms a new VP -- was passed in response to the VP vacancy that Kennedy's death created.

Well, his new Attorney General nominee, Barr, is going to re open an investigation of her e-mails, and a Judge has just ruled that the investigation of how Obama's State Department and DoJ handled their investigation (yes, an investigation of an investigation) will be re-opened in the coming weeks. All of this, designed to distract us and to fire up his base, and persecute a woman who had the nerve to run against him and call him out for his treason and his incompetence. She said he was unfit. She said his rabid supporters were Deplorable. Now he intends to crush her out of spite. As far as I'm concerned, he will have to come through more than 65 million of us to try it. Trump is a mobster. No surprise in his behavior either before or after the election.
What is unforgivable to me is It is the fact that he was allowed to lie, stonewall and waste months of the country's time (and millions of dollars) while deplorables and the Senate did the shuck 'n jive and gave US citizens the finger.
I am enjoying watching old sunken cheeks' misery. His tweets this morning show that he KNOWS the shit is about to hit.
Don't ever let deplorables forget their part in this conspiracy to use foreign influence on our elections. They read the same news as the rest of the world, they saw the same reporting everyone else did, they knew what a vile creature he was. They're part of the con. Don't ever let deplorables and their children forget their part in this anti-American charade.

Tucker Carlson tiring of Trump?
In an interview with a Swiss newspaper, Tucker Carlson is more critical of Trump than usual
The Swiss are very suspicious of anybody who is boastful. That’s why I have a question about Trump…
…I hate that about him. I hate that… it’s not my culture. I didn’t grow up like that.
In your book you speak a lot about people who attack Trump, but you actually don’t say very much about Trump’s record. That’s true. Do you think he has kept his promises? Has he achieved his goals? No. He hasn’t? No. His chief promises were that he would build the wall, de-fund planned parenthood, and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things. There are a lot of reasons for that, but since I finished writing the book, I’ve come to believe that Trump’s role is not as a conventional president who promises to get certain things achieved to the Congress and then does. I don’t think he’s capable. I don’t think he’s capable of sustained focus. I don’t think he understands the system. I don’t think the Congress is on his side. I don’t think his own agencies support him. He’s not going to do that.

Tucker isn't tiring of him, he's playing both sides. If Trump goes down, he can brag that he "raised concerns" about him. If by chance Trump comes through this unscathed, Tucker was gentle enough in his criticism that he can still claim he was a supporter all along.

Great article by Seth Abramson, above. Part 2. He doesn't think Donnie is going anywhere soon. Donnie is digging in his heels and that's what his lawyers are advising most likely. But the Mueller investigation (which will be studied for hundreds of years) will slowly plow through all of the cronies and family involvement.
by Anonymous | reply 366 | December 7, 2018 6:11 PM |
I expected it honestly. Of course Trump wants to appoint a new AG who will go after Hillary and Obama administration members. This will give Fox and congressional repubs something to try and distract their base with while the real Russia probe continues to unfold.
This is why I don't understand why people like Nicole Wallace don't understand why repubs refuse to see the truth. If all you watch is Fox "News", you're not going to get the truth. You're going to get a distorted reality that continually defends and lies for repubs while making up fake scandals about Democrats. Then when nothing pans out as they say, they claim there's a deep state protecting liberals and targeting conservatives. It works very well with their sheep-like viewers. That's why they're so amped to come out and vote every 2 years because Fox keeps them angry and feeling like victims. It's sick but effective. They are convinced Trump and his minions are innocent good people and that Hillary/Obama/his officials are all corrupt criminals who should be in jail
by Anonymous | reply 367 | December 7, 2018 6:14 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 368 | December 7, 2018 6:16 PM |
R368 there are more of us than them but the majority of them reliably show up to vote while a lot of us don't. Just an example-there are more registered Democrats in Florida than repubs...yet repubs keep on winning in that state. If more of the rest of us in key states like Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan came out to vote in 2016, none of this would have happened. The momentum is obviously there for us in 2020 but we have to worry about the Russians hacking into our voter rolls and tallies again. Unless the House Democrats can somehow ensure we get legislation to beef up our system from hacking, I wouldn't rule out Putin doing something again. The disinformation campaign for the 2018 midterms didn't work for House votes so they'll go bigger in 2020

If anyone thinks that whats going on in NC is an isolated incident, I have a bridge to sell.....The problem is that when election fraud is suspected, the GOP ignores it....see GA and FLA...... Note, the ones who scream about it the loudest without any actual proof are usually the offenders. They have now tied the operative in NC to the candidate, the GOP in NC, and even the sheriff and district AG.....and all anyone is doing is allowing them to act surprised it happened, and to act like it was a mistake and there should be a do-over. No actual accountability.

I feel such solidarity with you about your DL habit. A couple of summers ago I remember trying to check in with DL from a lazy beach in Cadaques, Spain. No reception, of course. My partner glanced over to see what I was messing with, saw the DL header that wasn’t loading, and just shook his head. Thoroughly chastised, I didn’t check back in until we were back in Barcelona. And I felt like I’d missed so much! I don’t remember the specifics, but there was some big, political thing going on. Isn’t it messed up that that kind of political intensity been a constant for two years straight?
Back to the American shitshow, how the hell can deplorables accept that Trump appointed someone who was “as dumb as a rock” to be Sec. of fucking State? Remember....These charges are related to the payoff scandal. Wait until Muellers Russia charges come down...Youre going to see all these names again....Cohen, Manafort, Gates, Papadopolous, Flynn, along with Kushner, Jr, Ivanka, Prince, Bannon, etc....pay attention to these filings...theyre very specific relating to specific acts and that they dont directly relate to Russia and nothing in the filings mentions immunity from other charges.....the Russia case in all likelihood will be filed as a RICO case.

What could the felony be that Mariotti's tweet refers to? Might that cover simply Trump's witness-tampering or obstructing justice, or does it have to refer to a more fundamental crime like conspiracy with Russia over the election?

Doesn't matter r438, the Democratic House really won't have any choice. Cohen is all but implicating Trump in some serious crimes during the campaign of 2016. And this could be just the tip of the iceberg. The Democrats can't be like the Republicans; their duty will compell them to at least attempt to impeach Trump, regardless of whether they can successfully convict and remove him in the Senate.
Read what's in some of these documents!

Based on how the GOP reacts to these documents, we will be able to tell for sure if they conspired in this whole mess. These documents basically say that the Russian coordination started in the Primary...which explains a lot. It also says Trump was dealing with the Russians in 2015, and he will claim it was about Trump Moscow, but the same people show up later offering election help. So Trump was behind it all along.

I think it will still feel like slo-mo right up and until we are in the climax. Some evident, even small and unseen to the public, will be his tipping point. But once it hits that threshold where he’s a true unarguable danger the public, then I think it will fast forward maybe in literally 24 - 72 hours. Like he’ll just be gone whether by arrest resignation etc.

Well people like Giuliani and his own lawyers, real lawyers not celebrity types, ought to be trying to read him the facts of life and telling him to stop fighting this and start figuring out a way out of it. He has just been names as a felon. He committed two felonies so far that we know of. And it comes right from the Justice Department. Does he realize his power to grant pardons to anyone associated with any of this shit is slowly evaporating? All he wants to do is cast this as a political war instead of seeing that it is also very much a legal problem. Beginning on January 3rd 2019, he will not be able to shut Mueller down. If he does, the House will rehire him and he will give his report directly to Congress. He better take advantage of the holiday recess to figure out how he can get out of this mess and stop attacking Mueller.

Jeanine Pirro should have a hilariously histrionic meltdown on her show tomorrow
and guess what? SNL is new tomorrow. They'll obviously do something on this
Trump is going to have a horrible weekend

People need to stop waiting for FOX News to wake up. It’s not going to happen.
FOX’s business model is the Republican Brand. If it goes, so does the network. Consequently when truths are evident, they dispute them. When facts are incontrovertible, they ignore them.
Even without Russia’s (err, Wendy Deng’s) help, Murdoch cannot afford to let anyone with money get to his network’s right. In this, he is like Deplorables. They keep nominating ever fringier primary candidates, who proceed (despite Gerrymandering) to decimate their hold on the House. Trump has made his business model nonsustainable.
But Murdoch and the party, like men drowning in debt, have decided to apply for yet more credit cards, because it’s temporarily easier than facing the looming bankruptcy.
But it’s coming.

So - any legal scholars on here please help me - A sitting President cannot be indicted, even if the crime he's guilty of - the crime that he put into motion to benefit from resulted in his getting the very seat that prevents him from paying for his crime? Is that right??
How does that make any sense? So had he lost - and this had been discovered - THEN he'd be indicted, tried and thrown in prison. Is that right?
by Anonymous | reply 543 | December 8, 2018 6:52 AM |
Mueller will have to decide to indict Trump. The Supreme Court will then have to decide if indicting a sitting president is constitutional.

R544 A Supreme Court that should have two asterisks. Two judges that were appointed by a man who should have never been elected President. At the very least, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh should recuse themselves.
You think that's gonna happen?
by Anonymous | reply 546 | December 8, 2018 7:18 AM |
He needs to be removed via impeachment. Then, there needs to be a formal decision made (via legislation? I don’t know) about indicting a sitting president. It’s absurd that a president could theoretically commit MURDER and not be indicted because the office protects him.
No one should be above the law in this country.
by Anonymous | reply 547 | December 8, 2018 7:25 AM |
OR, Mueller could just fucking indict him and then we could dare the now-disgraced Supreme Court to decide that the president is above the law.

I would love to see Trump testify on live TV in front of Congress. I want to see and hear what he has to say about ALL these allegations. I'd love watch his face as he tries to spin a web of lies and see the very moment that he realizes none of what he says makes any sense.
Trump's string of lies and deception amounts to nothing other than TREASON. Yes, TREASON.
So we'd better start looking at the Constitution about what we can do -- ON THAT LEVEL. NOt what we've done before based on such and such because Nixon's the closest that we can get. BUT what he did did not amount to treason. He committed a felony.
Trump's transgression, however, does constitute treason because he conspired with a hostile FOREIGN nation to win the Office. I keep trying to make this distinction, yet I hear posters say we should just wait it out, wait until his term is over and vote him out. Or, you can't indict a sitting President because it's unconstitutional.

And if Trump accepts a resignation, he’s fucked.
The Southern District of Manhattan Federal Court is dying to get their hands on him, as Trump already has charges pending against him.... And there is NO ONE that can save his sloppy ass. This is beautiful. Hallelujah!
by Anonymous | reply 553 | December 8, 2018 8:34 AM |
I don’t think that Trump dying would be of benefit - he’ll just be turned into a martyr, with some other lowlife to fill his position. It would be great to see him held accountable and having to answer for all he has done.

by Anonymous | reply 557 | December 8, 2018 10:25 AM |
I agree, R550. Not only did he conspire with a hostile foreign nation to win power, but from the moment he secured the nomination, he has been acting against the interests of the United States and he has instead acted in the interests of the hostile foreign power. There is actual concrete proof of this. I hope we can resolve this and finally one day hear audio conversations that confirm this out of his own mouth or from Moscow.

I'd imagine he will go on the attack with Cohen. What else can he say. I think Cohen really pisses him off because he was part of Trump's crime family for more than a decade and he knows a lot, and this is the ultimate in disloyalty. More than Hillary and Barack, more than Mueller personally, Michael Cohen 's betrayal is like someone shoving a hot poker up his ass. Now Maybe Roger Stone would be just as incendiary, but Michael was family. He abused him and shit on him in the same way he has done to his sons in the past.

The Mueller reddit says people speculate the "synergy" contact may be Dmitry Klokov and point to this BuzzFeed article from the summer.
[quote]Amid intense scrutiny of contacts between Donald Trump's inner circle and representatives of Vladimir Putin, Ivanka Trump's name has barely come up. But during the campaign, she connected her father’s personal lawyer with a Russian athlete who offered to introduce Donald Trump to Putin to facilitate a 100-story Trump tower in Moscow, according to emails reviewed by BuzzFeed News and four sources with knowledge of the matter.

Here is a good read from last night about Mueller's investigation reaching the "worst case scenario" -- for the White House. This lays it out pretty clearly. The Dotard's claim that there is "no conclusion" is laughable and pathetic. Yes, yes there is. They keep trying to deny this in the face of mounting demonstrable evidence to the contrary.
NEWSFLASH, Cheatolini: we don't believe you. You're as guilty as hell.

Meanwhile whistling to his deranged deplorables that he wants to open up yet ANOTHER investigation in to HRC.
And the sad thing is that this all makes perfect sense to Rethuglicans.

If we are so unlucky that Trump survives till 2020 and runs for re-election, I want every Dem primary candidate and the eventual Dem nominee to refer to him as Individual-1. That is, until a better one comes out in Mueller's indictments.
I believe it was a twitter trend last night. It sticks well.

R587 me too! Actually, who makes up the crowd? I know the cadets all go, but they can’t be more than a couple thousand. Are the rest family, or just from the Philadelphia area? If they’re from Philly, there’s a very good chance they’ll boo. Sarah Palin showed up at a Philadelphia Flyers game—with her kid, no less—and was loudly booed. Philly takes no prisoners when it comes to booing. Remember Santa Claus?

I REALLY would love it if us activists here started a Twitter campaign that he’s violating their terms of service. Malcolm Nance started one for his violent rhetoric.
I am a little scared because he IS already cornered. But what else can Mueller do? It had to be his choice to resign and right now he isn’t willing to give up pardoning power. Wait until his kids get indicted. There MUST be a protocol the military is using for preventing him from using the nukes. Mattis has to confirm his order, my guess is that Mattis would not.
I do want to sue Trump too for mental distress and violating all our constitutional rights. Dallas solution???
