A letter from the Executor of Tank Hafertepen's Estate The world has lost one of its brightest lights. Our precious Tank Hafertepen, 28, passed away this week due to a previously undiagnosed lung ailment. He is survived by his partner, Dylan Hafertepen, his mother and brother in Australia, and his loving chosen family in Seattle. We are absolutely devastated as Tank ends his adventure with us and begins a new one.

Tank was the kindest, gentlest soul I’ve ever known. His heart was filled with pure love, which he showered on those close to him. Tank had a persistent cough for several months. Otherwise, he seemed fine, doing the things he loved — working out, caring for clients as part of Lifelong AIDS Alliance, and spending time with his family. Until a week ago when he had trouble breathing and was admitted to the hospital with what we figured was a routine infection. It turned out to be much more. He fought very hard, seeming to get a tiny bit better day by day, until the terrible moment that we were told nothing more could be done.

After helping people, Tank’s greatest passion was for his partner, Dylan. Together for over eight years, their love overcame challenges the size of continents, and persisted as an unbreakable bond. Tank’s devotion and love for his partner was absolute. Tank’s final words to Dylan were “Thank you for allowing me to serve you.”

His coworkers at Lifelong tell me that Tank was highly regarded by all he encountered, and that he touched many lives there. They grieve along with us.

Tank entrusted me to be executor of his estate, a duty that I never thought I would have to fulfill. I would give anything to have him with us for one more moment, one more second, one more day. He wasn’t just my friend, he was like my baby brother. I will miss him forever, as will we all.

In lieu of flowers, Tank’s wishes are that you consider making a donation to Lifelong AIDS Alliance, a non-profit Washington organization that provides food, housing, and health services to clients living with serious illnesses including HIV and AIDS. He loved his time there and we hope his legacy with Lifelong lasts indefinitely.

Tank requested that his remains be cremated and that no public memorial service be held.

His family also requests that our privacy be respected during this extremely difficult time. We understand that gossip can run rampant in our community, but we urge you to respect the deceased instead of adding to it. We will also likely be slow to respond to messages. The pain of Tank’s passing is tremendous and we’re just trying to get by, day by day.

R44 - Peter, the guy in R29 was known as Gitbigger on the web. He was an artsy skinny kid who hated the way he looked and first got into weightlifting, and later into gaining. He was very known in that scene because of his blog, and the fetish art he posted on DeiviantArt. He also went "public" with gaining for a newspaper article a few years back, and later regretted the wider exposure. He went from skinny to muscular to beefy to very fat and back down to muscular over the last 15 years or so.

Why today's newsletter was a day late

Monday evening we had dinner with Tank.

Between our non-communication and my small claims case to collect past rent, I was expecting him to put up a fight. But, he ended up surprising me.
